The present COVID-19 epidemic is a threat to physical health and brings a drain to Quality of life and mental health in the general population. However, changes in Quality of life and mental health status due to pandemic-related is less known. This study was implemented to investigate and predict changes in the Quality of life and psychological changes in people worldwide due to the pandemic. 3002 individuals participated in an online survey. The result showed that Quality of life is significantly decreased over time, meanwhile perceived stress level is raised significantly, and an increased level of difficulty in emotion regulation has happened. Almost everyone faced with increased perceived stress and current quarantine experience were significant predictors of perceived stress escalation. Younger people and individuals who had a worsening quality of life response tended to show more stress and emotion regulation problems. Furthermore, prediction models show that by extending the time of quarantine, Quality of life will worsen, and therefore the rate of perceived stress will be higher, and the problem with emotion regulation will arise more. As the whole world faces the pandemic, this research provides several implications for public mental health intervention. © 2021 Elsevier Masson SAS

We assessed global and regional experiences as well as the legal status of third-party reproduction and adoption to serve as a comprehensive international data set and resource for groups that wish to begin oncofertility interventions. METHODS: We provide data on the legalities of third-party assisted reproductive technologies and other family-building options in the 28 oncofertility-practicing countries surveyed. RESULTS: We found regional and country differences that will be important in the development of tailored resources for physicians and for patient brochures that are sensitive to these local restrictions and cultural norms. CONCLUSION: Because many patients first consult Web-based materials, the formal assessment of the availability of these options provides members of the global oncofertility community with data to which they might otherwise not have ready access to better serve their patients.

The work was devoted to the improvement of rechargeable batteries. Two different strategies were applied: i) investigation of new electrode materials to increase the battery performance, and ii) studies on failure mechanism of commercial rechargeable batteries. Both Li-ion and Na-ion systems were explored. In the former case, carbon based materials were investigated as high capacity anode (chapter 2), while the cell failure of commercial cells (chapter 3) and pouch cells (chapter 4) were investigated by Ultra High Precision Coulometry (UHPC) and dQ/dV analysis. Moreover, Na-ion systems, a low cost alternative to the Li-ion batteries, were investigated. Sn films were characterized as negative electrode (chapter 5), while Na0.44MnO2 cathode material was investigated by electrochemical techniques (chapter 6). A brief description of the aforementioned chapters is here reported. Chapter 2. Carbon films were prepared by DC magnetron sputtering at argon pressures ranging from 1 to 30 mTorr. The film sputtered at the lowest pressure was fully amorphous, and showed a density of 1.9±0.3 g/cc indicating little porosity. The film sputtered at the highest pressure showed a broad (002) Bragg peak and had a density of 1.35 ± 0.15 g/cc, indicating significant porosity. Electrochemical testing showed that the low pressure sputtered carbon had a reversible specific capacity of about 800 mAh/g, and an average delithiation potential of about 1 V vs. Li/Li+. Heating the same film to 900oC in argon decreased the reversible capacity and the average voltage to 600 mAh/g and 0.75V, respectively. Chapter 3. Commercial aged LiCoO2/Graphite cells having different cycling histories were studied. Even after 12 years of operation at 37oC, the cells still retained 80% of their initial capacity with coulombic efficiency of 0.99985 when measured at C/20 and 40oC. The capacity loss of these cells could be explained by loss of lithium inventory through growth of the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI)

Tin films on copper substrate, obtained by electrodeposition procedure, were structural and electrochemical characterized. In particular to investigate the possibility to use such metal as possible negative electrode in Na+ rechargeable batteries, EPS (electrochemical potential spectroscopy) and galvanostatic charge/discharge cycling of the electrodes were investigated, at room temperature in organic electrolyte. Three crystalline and one amorphous phases were identified as well as high discharge capacity (738 mAh/g) was obtained after 4 cycles. Unfortunately material fading, due to the internal stress during sodiation/desodiation process, causes poor cyclability.

Na0.44MnO2 (NMO) is one of the most promising positive electrode materials for the development of sodium ion secondary batteries. In this work, a NMO orthorhombic compound was prepared by a soft chemistry modified Pechini method and characterized. The material exhibits a good discharge capacity (about 110mAh/g) at low current rate (11 mA/g, C/25) which decreases to 65mAh/g at high rate (275mA/g, 1C). The electrochemical behavior was investigated by the extensive use of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy analysis. It was observed that the kinetic limitations are mainly due to the low diffusion coefficient of Na+ ions in the structure (in the range 10-13/10-14 cm2/s) and to the high values of the surface resistance which is the sum of two contributes attributed to the charge transfer process and the presence of a passivating layer. The diffusion coefficient as well as the charge transfer resistance depends on the sodium amount in the electrode. © 2013 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

The slow kinetics of bigger-sized sodium ions in intercalation compounds restricts the practical applications of sodium batteries. In this work, sodium ion intercalation/de-intercalation behavior of Na0.44MnO2 (NMO), which is one of the promising cathode materials for sodium batteries, is presented in both aqueous and non-aqueous electrolyte systems. The NMO samples synthesized using modified Pechini method shows better rate capability in 0.5 M sodium sulfate aqueous electrolyte system than the 1 M sodium perchlorate non-aqueous system. The difference in the rate performance is extensively investigated using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements and the apparent diffusion coefficients of sodium in NMO are determined to be in the range of 1.08 10 13 to 9.15 10 12 cm2 s 1 in aqueous system and in the range of 5.75 10 16 to 2.14 10 14 cm2 s 1 in non-aqueous systems. The differences in the evaluated rate capability are mainly attributed to nearly two to three orders of magnitude difference in the apparent diffusion coefficient along with the charge transfer resistance and the resistance from the formed SEI layer.
