Our current understanding of adaptation in families of individuals with Down syndrome (DS) is based primarily on findings from studies focused on participants from a single country. Guided by the Resiliency Model of Family Stress, Adjustment, and Adaptation, the purpose of this cross-country investigation, which is part of a larger, mixed methods study, was twofold: (1) to compare family adaptation in 12 countries, and (2) to examine the relationships between family variables and family adaptation. The focus of this study is data collected in the 12 countries where at least 30 parents completed the survey. Descriptive statistics were generated, and mean family adaptation was modeled in terms of each predictor independently, controlling for an effect on covariates. A parsimonious composite model for mean family adaptation was adaptively generated. While there were cross-country differences, standardized family adaptation mean scores fell within the average range for all 12 countries. Key components of the guiding framework (i.e., family demands, family appraisal, family resources, and family problem-solving communication) were important predictors of family adaptation. More cross-country studies, as well as longitudinal studies, are needed to fully understand how culture and social determinants of health influence family adaptation in families of individuals with DS.

We present a consistent and highly scalable local approach to learn the causal structure of a linear Gaussian polytree using data from interventional experiments with known intervention targets. Our methods first learn the skeleton of the polytree and then orient its edges. The output is a CPDAG representing the interventional equivalence class of the polytree of the true underlying distribution. The skeleton and orientation recovery procedures we use rely on second order statistics and low-dimensional marginal distributions. We assess the performance of our methods under different scenarios in synthetic data sets and apply our algorithm to learn a polytree in a gene expression interventional data set. This article aims to analyze the association between characteristics of death - type of certifier and place of death - and the odds of an external cause death being certified as unspecified in Brazil. Cross-sectional study of deaths due to external causes from the Mortality Information System, 2017. Unspecified external cause (UEC) is the outcome variable in the models. Type of certifier physician, place of death and the interaction of these variables were the explanatory variables. Confounders were controlled by multiple logistic regression. UEC were the initial underlying cause for 22% of the 159,720 deaths from external causes in Brazil and 31% of hospital deaths issued by coroners. After adjustment for confounders, the odds of UEC in a hospital death certified by a coroner was 98% greater (OR=1.98; 95%CI: 1.53; 2.56) than in a home/street death issued by another certifier. This was greater than the odds for certifications by coroners (OR=1.23; 95%CI: 1.14; 1.33) and hospital deaths (OR=1.44; 95%CI: 1.32; 1.58). External causes certified by coroners and/or occurring in hospitals have a higher presence of UEC than other deaths; and indicate the need for coordinated initiatives by the health and public security sectors.

BACKGROUND: Due to contradictory results in current research, whether age at menopause is increasing or decreasing in Western countries remains an open question, yet worth studying as later ages at menopause are likely to be related to an increased risk of breast cancer. Using data from breast cancer screening programs to study the temporal trend of age at menopause is difficult since especially younger women in the same generational cohort have often not yet reached menopause. Deleting these younger women in a breast cancer risk analyses may bias the results. The aim of this study is therefore to recover missing menopause ages as a covariate by comparing methods for handling missing data. Additionally, the study makes a contribution to understanding the evolution of age at menopause for several generations born in Portugal between 1920 and 1970. METHODS: Data from a breast cancer screening program in Portugal including 278,282 women aged 45-69 and collected between 1990 and 2010 are used to compare two approaches of imputing age at menopause: (i) a multiple imputation methodology based on a truncated distribution but ignoring the mechanism of missingness; (ii) a copula-based multiple imputation method that simultaneously handles the age at menopause and the missing mechanism. The linear predictors considered in both cases have a semiparametric additive structure accommodating linear and non-linear effects defined via splines or Markov random fields smoothers in the case of spatial variables. RESULTS: Both imputation methods unveiled an increasing trend of age at menopause when viewed as a function of the birth year for the youngest generation. This trend is hidden if we model only women with an observed age at menopause. CONCLUSION: When studying age at menopause, missing ages must be recovered with an adequate procedure for incomplete data. Wine producers are now fully aware of the water-energy nexus, given the challenges created by climate change. By identifying potential environmental impacts of the wine industry, related to water and fossil energy use, wineries are taking action to improve their performance. This chapter reviews a set of technologies and strategies that can lead wineries to implement a regenerative approach, minimizing resources, recovering value from wastewater/waste, and replacing fossil energy with renewable sources. The approach is illustrated by presenting four case studies, located in three Mediterranean countries (France, Italy, and Portugal). The main conclusions are: (1) water and energy consumption ratios vary according to the wine type; (2) wastewater treatment systems tend to close the water cycle in countries facing severe water scarcity; and (3) the adoption of renewable energy in wineries is a reality today, but the adopted renewable energy depends on the region where it is located.

Transmission-blocking vaccines (TBVs) and monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) target sexual stage antigens to interrupt human-to-mosquito transmission and may form important tools for malaria elimination. Although most epitopes of these antigens are considered highly conserved, little is known about the impact of natural genetic diversity on the functional activity of transmission-blocking antibodies. Here we measured the efficacy of three mAbs against leading TBV candidates (Pfs48/45, Pfs25 and Pfs230) in transmission assays with parasites from naturally infected donors compared to their efficacy against the strain they were raised against (NF54). Transmission-reducing activity (TRA) was measured as reduction in mean oocyst intensity. mAb 45.1 (α-Pfs48/45) and mAb 4B7 (α-Pfs25) reduced transmission of field parasites from almost all donors with IC(80) values similar to NF54. Sequencing of oocysts that survived high mAb concentrations did not suggest enrichment of escape genotypes. mAb 2A2 (α-Pfs230) only reduced transmission of parasites from a minority of the donors, suggesting that it targets a non-conserved epitope. Using six laboratory-adapted strains, we revealed that mutations in one Pfs230 domain correlate with mAb gamete surface binding and functional TRA. Our findings demonstrate that, despite the conserved nature of sexual stage antigens, minor sequence variation can significantly impact the efficacy of transmission-blocking mAbs. Since mAb 45.1 shows high potency against genetically diverse strains, our findings support its further clinical development and may inform Pfs48/45 vaccine design.

The onset of deformation in the northern Andes is overprinted by subsequent stages of basin deformation, complicating the examination of competing models illustrating potential location of earliest synorogenic basins and uplifts. To establish the width of the earliest northern Andean orogen, we carried out field mapping, palynological dating, sedimentary, stratigraphic and provenance analyses in Campanian to lower Eocene units exposed in the northern Eastern Cordillera of Colombia (Cocuy region) and compare the results with coeval succession in adjacent basins. The onset of deformation is recorded in earliest Maastrichtian time, as terrigenous detritus arrived into the basin marking the end of chemical precipitation and the onset of clastic deposition produced by the uplift of a western source area dominated by shaly Cretaceous rocks. Disconformable contacts within the upper Maastrichtian to middle Palaeocene succession document increasing supply of quartzose sandy detritus from Cretaceous quartzose rocks exposed in eastern source areas. The continued unroofing of both source areas produced a rapid shift in depositional environments from shallow marine in Maastrichtian to fluvial-lacustrine systems during the Palaeocene-early Eocene. Supply of immature Jurassic sandstones from nearby western uplifts, together with localized plutonic and volcanic Cretaceous rocks, caused a shift in Palaeocene sandstones composition from quartzarenites to litharenites. Supply of detrital sandy fragments, unstable heavy minerals and Cretaceous to Ordovician detrital zircons, were derived from nearby uplifted blocks and from SW fluvial systems within the synorogenic basin, instead of distal basement rocks. The presence of volcanic rock fragments and 51–59 Ma volcanic zircons constrain magmatism within the basin. The COST action “Standardising output-based surveillance to control non-regulated diseases of cattle in the European Union (SOUND control),” aims to harmonise the results of surveillance and control programmes (CPs) for non-EU regulated cattle diseases to facilitate safe trade and improve overall control of cattle infectious diseases. In this paper we aimed to provide an overview on the diversity of control for these diseases in Europe. A non-EU regulated cattle disease was defined as an infectious disease of cattle with no or limited control at EU level, which is not included in the European Union Animal health law Categories A or B under Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/2002. A CP was defined as surveillance and/or intervention strategies designed to lower the incidence, prevalence, mortality or prove freedom from a specific disease in a region or country. Passive surveillance, and active surveillance of breeding bulls under Council Directive 88/407/EEC were not considered as CPs. A questionnaire was designed to obtain country-specific information about CPs for each disease. Animal health experts from 33 European countries completed the questionnaire. Overall, there are 23 diseases for which a CP exists in one or more of the countries studied. The diseases for which CPs exist in the highest number of countries are enzootic bovine leukosis, bluetongue, infectious bovine rhinotracheitis, bovine viral diarrhoea and anthrax (CPs reported by between 16 and 31 countries). Every participating country has on average, 6 CPs (min–max: 1–13) in place. Most programmes are implemented at a national level (86%) and are applied to both dairy and non-dairy cattle (75%). Approximately one-third of the CPs are voluntary, and the funding structure is divided between government and private resources. Growth and feed efficiency of cattle are improved by supplementation with the beta-adrenergic agonists (βAA), ractopamine hydrochloride (RH; β1AA) or zilpaterol hydrochloride (ZH; β2AA) (Elam et al., 2009). βAA supplementation alters adipose deposition by inhibiting fatty acid biosynthesis and promoting lipolysis of stored triacylglycerols into free fatty acids (FFAs) (Johnson et al., 2014). However, β2 adrenoceptors (βAR) desensitize with chronic activation (Re et al., 1997); supplementation is thus limited to the last 20 to 40 d of feeding. The annual economic impact of heat stress (HS) has been estimated to exceed $2.4 billion (St-Pierre et al., 2003). Heat-stressed livestock have reduced growth rates, dry matter intake, and average daily gain (Mitlöhner et al., 2001; St-Pierre et al., 2003). In response to acute stress, signaling pathways for lipolysis of circulating and stored triglycerides are activated, while chronic stress increases lipogenesis and adipogenesis (Campbell et al., 2009; Peckett et al., 2011). In cattle, HS also increases the responsiveness of adipocytes to lipolytic signals, increasing lipolysis (Faylon et al., 2015). The objective of this study was to understand how HS and βAA independently and interactively affect adipose tissue. Prior work identified minimal impact of RH on metabolic properties (Barnes et al., 2019) and on the transcriptome of skeletal muscle (Kubik et al., 2018). We therefore hypothesized that RH may be primarily affecting adipose; specifically, that lipolytic activity is increased due to heat and βAA in an additive fashion. We tested this hypothesis in RH-supplemented lambs and ZH-supplemented cattle exposed to HS for 30 and 21 d, respectively.

Down syndrome (DS) is the most common genetic cause of intellectual disability worldwide. The purpose of this analysis was to determine the internal consistency reliability of eight language versions of the Family Management Measure (FaMM) and compare family management of DS across cultures. A total of 2,740 parents of individuals with DS from 11 countries completed the FaMM. The analysis provided evidence of internal consistency reliability exceeding.70 for four of six FaMM scales for the entire sample. Across countries, there was a pattern of positive family management. Cross-cultural comparisons revealed parents from Brazil, Spain, and the United States had the most positive family management and respondents from Ireland, Italy, Japan, and Korea had the least positive. The rankings were mixed for the four remaining countries. These findings provide evidence of overall strong internal consistency reliability of the FaMM. More cross-cultural research is needed to understand how social determinants of health influence family management in families of individuals with DS.

O presente trabalho apresenta resultados parciais de pesquisas em andamento sobre o Estado gerencial e a relação público-privada na educação em Goiás, em particular o caso do Instituto de Corresponsabilidade na Educação (ICE). Na primeira parte, delineia-se o cenário estrutural de transformações do capitalismo contemporâneo, o contexto das reformas neoliberais com os princípios da nova ideologia gerencialista e dos seus desdobramentos na reforma gerencial do Estado no Brasil. Na segunda parte, discorre-se sobre as tentativas do governo do estado de implantar as Organizações Sociais em Goiás. Na última parte, promove-se uma análise mais detida da parceria com o ICE, entidade privada que atua em mais de quarenta escolas de ensino médio de Goiás desde 2013. Como emblema dessa parceria, analisou-se a apostila denominada Projeto de Vida, que se configura como um manual de orientações e prescrições que visa levar o jovem a se reconhecer, a se ver como sujeito autônomo, solidário e competente, dono de seu próprio destino e capaz de mudar seu futuro. Pode-se inferir que a apostila introduz no indivíduo a lógica empresarial, a lógica do mercado, de modo que este vai sendo levado a pensar e a se ver como uma empresa, que precisa ser cada vez mais competente, eficiente e competitivo e aprender a gerenciar a própria vida. Diante disso, avalia-se que as PPPs na educação, por meio de estratégias e dispositivos pedagógicos e gerenciais, contribuem, de certo modo, para a formação de um novo indivíduo para um novo tempo.

Item does not contain fulltext, The effect of music-supported therapy (MST) as a tool to restore hemiparesis of the upper extremity after a stroke has not been appropriately contrasted with conventional therapy. The aim of this trial was to test the effectiveness of adding MST to a standard rehabilitation program in subacute stroke patients. A randomized controlled trial was conducted in which patients were randomized to MST or conventional therapy in addition to the rehabilitation program. The intensity and duration of the interventions were equated in both groups. Before and after 4 weeks of treatment, motor and cognitive functions, mood, and quality of life (QoL) of participants were evaluated. A follow-up at 3 months was conducted to examine the retention of motor gains. Both groups significantly improved their motor function, and no differences between groups were found. The only difference between groups was observed in the language domain for QoL. Importantly, an association was encountered between the capacity to experience pleasure from music activities and the motor improvement in the MST group. MST as an add-on treatment showed no superiority to conventional therapies for motor recovery. Importantly, patient's intrinsic motivation to engage in musical activities was associated with better motor improvement.

However, the effects of MST have not been appropriately contrasted with conventional therapy. Material and method: A two-arm, parallel-group controlled trial was conducted where 40 patients in the first 6 months from the stroke onset were randomly allocated to conventional treatment (CT-group, n=20) or MST treatment (MST-group, n=20) in addition to the rehabilitation program. Before and after 4 weeks of treatment, patients were evaluated on four domains: motor functions, cognitive functions, mood and quality of life, and brain plasticity assessed with functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI). A follow-up at 3 months was conducted to examine the evolution of the motor gains. Results: Both groups significantly improved their motor function, and no differences between groups were found. The only difference between groups was observed in the language domain for quality of life. Importantly, an association was encountered between the capacity to experience pleasure from music activities and the motor improvement in the MST-group. A pattern of intrahemispheric reorganization in motor-related areas was observed in both groups, being more prominent in the MST-group. Conclusion: MST as an add-on treatment showed no superiority to conventional therapies for motor recovery with a similar pattern of plastic changes. Importantly, patient's intrinsic motivation to engage in musical activities was associated to better motor improvement. Trial registration NCT02208219.

The Aptian-Albian Caballos Formation is a proven reservoir in the oil producing basins of the Upper Magdalena Valley and Putumayo (Colombia), characterized by wide variation in its petrophysical properties. Integrated provenance, diagenetic and basic petrophysical analyses are presented from two stratigraphic sections of the Caballos Formation in the Upper Magdalena Valley (Ocal and Cobre creeks) in order to test regional geological models, and to relate compositional and diagenetic factors with the reservoir quality. Sandstones from the Caballos Formation document a change from texturally immature- subarkoses, litharenites to quartz arenites. High quartz contents, the presence of feldspar, sedimentary, metamorphic and volcanic lithic suggest mixed provenance, with a major contribution from sedimentary sources. U-Pb dating of detrital zircons reveals age populations that include contributions from Precambrian, Permian, Triassic and Jurassic rocks. These data, together with the compositional trends, suggest that source areas likely include adjacent massifs from the eastern segment of the Upper Magdalena Valley with similar compositional and temporal characteristics (Garzón and Macarena Massifs for the southeastern Ocal Section, and the Upper Magdalena Valley massifs and the eastern flank of the Central Cordillera; Ocal Section). The changes in compositional features and detrital geochronology between the upper and lower members of both sections suggest a change in source areas, associated with the erosion and depletion of adjacent uplifts, and the increasing dominance of more distal eastern and western sources, which reflect the end of tectonic instability and the deepening of the basin. The presence of quartz, feldspar, and lithic rock fragments have a major impact on the porosity and permeability of Caballos Formation sandstones. En el presente artículo se presentan análisis de petrografía, minerales pesados, geocronología en circones detríticos, SEM y DRX, integrados con análisis petrofísicos básicos de porosidad y permeabilidad en los miembros inferior y superior de dos secciones de la Formación Caballos en el Valle Superior del Magdalena (Quebrada el Ocal y el Cobre), con el fin de reconstruir su procedencia y diagénesis aportando a la comprensión de la historia de la cuenca y evaluando los factores composicionales y diagenéticos que afectan la calidad del reservorio. Las areniscas de la Formación Caballos varían entre subarcosas, litoarenitas y cuarzoarenitas. Los altos contenidos de cuarzo, la presencia de feldespato, líticos sedimentarios, líticos metamórficos y volcánicos sugieren una fuente mixta. Las poblaciones de circones detríticos con edades Precámbricas, Pérmicas y Triásicas y las características composicionales de las areniscas sugieren que las áreas fuentes podrían incluir macizos adyacentes con características composicionales y temporales semejantes a los actuales incluidos en Valle Superior, Macizo de Garzón y Macarena (Sección El Ocal), y el Valle Superior del Magdalena y la Cordillera Central (Sección El Cobre). A follow-up at 3 months was conducted to examine the retention of motor gains. Both groups significantly improved their motor function, and no differences between groups were found. The only difference between groups was observed in the language domain for QoL. Importantly, an association was encountered between the capacity to experience pleasure from music activities and the motor improvement in the MST group. MST as an add-on treatment showed no superiority to conventional therapies for motor recovery. Importantly, patient's intrinsic motivation to engage in musical activities was associated with better motor improvement.

Before and after 4 weeks of treatment, patients were evaluated on four domains: motor functions, cognitive functions, mood and quality of life, and brain plasticity assessed with functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI). A follow-up at 3 months was conducted to examine the evolution of the motor gains. Results: Both groups significantly improved their motor function, and no differences between groups were found. The only difference between groups was observed in the language domain for quality of life. Importantly, an association was encountered between the capacity to experience pleasure from music activities and the motor improvement in the MST-group. A pattern of intrahemispheric reorganization in motor-related areas was observed in both groups, being more prominent in the MST-group. Conclusion: MST as an add-on treatment showed no superiority to conventional therapies for motor recovery with a similar pattern of plastic changes. Importantly, patient's intrinsic motivation to engage in musical activities was associated to better motor improvement. Trial registration NCT02208219.

The Aptian-Albian Caballos Formation is a proven reservoir in the oil producing basins of the Upper Magdalena Valley and Putumayo (Colombia), characterized by wide variation in its petrophysical properties. Integrated provenance, diagenetic and basic petrophysical analyses are presented from two stratigraphic sections of the Caballos Formation in the Upper Magdalena Valley (Ocal and Cobre creeks) in order to test regional geological models, and to relate compositional and diagenetic factors with the reservoir quality. Sandstones from the Caballos Formation document a change from texturally immature- subarkoses, litharenites to quartz arenites. High quartz contents, the presence of feldspar, sedimentary, metamorphic and volcanic lithic suggest mixed provenance, with a major contribution from sedimentary sources. U-Pb dating of detrital zircons reveals age populations that include contributions from Precambrian, Permian, Triassic and Jurassic rocks. These data, together with the compositional trends, suggest that source areas likely include adjacent massifs from the eastern segment of the Upper Magdalena Valley with similar compositional and temporal characteristics (Garzón and Macarena Massifs for the southeastern Ocal Section, and the Upper Magdalena Valley massifs and the eastern flank of the Central Cordillera; Ocal Section). The changes in compositional features and detrital geochronology between the upper and lower members of both sections suggest a change in source areas, associated with the erosion and depletion of adjacent uplifts, and the increasing dominance of more distal eastern and western sources, which reflect the end of tectonic instability and the deepening of the basin. The presence of quartz, feldspar, and lithic rock fragments have a major impact on the porosity and permeability of Caballos Formation sandstones. There is a considerable controversy about whether western Amazonia was ever covered by marine waters during theMiocene [23 to 5 Ma (million years ago)]. We investigated the possible occurrence of Miocene marine incursions in theLlanos and Amazonas/Solimões basins, using sedimentological and palynological data from two sediment cores taken ineastern Colombia and northwestern Braziltogether with seismic information. We observed two distinct marine intervalsin the Llanos Basin, an early Miocene that lasted ~0.9 My (million years) (18.1 to 17.2 Ma) and a middle Miocene that lasted~3.7 My (16.1 to 12.4 Ma). These two marine intervals are alsoseen in Amazonas/Solimões Basin (northwestern Amazonia)but were much shorter in duration, ~0.2 My (18.0 to 17.8 Ma) and ~0.4 My (14.1 to 13.7 Ma), respectively. In addition to studying the effect of the year of birth on the expectation of age at menarche and a woman's reproductive lifespan, it is important to understand how a woman's cohort affects the correlation between these two variables. Since the behavior of age at menarche and menopause may vary with the geographic location of a woman's residence, the spatial effect of the municipality where a woman resides needs to be considered. Thus, a Bayesian multivariate structured additive distributional regression model is proposed in order to analyze how a woman's municipality and year of birth affects a woman's age of menarche, her lifespan cycle, and the correlation of the two. The data consists of 212,517 postmenopausal women, born between 1920 and 1965, who attended the breast cancer screening program in the central region of Portugal.

There is a considerable controversy about whether western Amazonia was ever covered by marine waters during theMiocene [23 to 5 Ma (million years ago)]. We investigated the possible occurrence of Miocene marine incursions in theLlanos and Amazonas/Solimões basins, using sedimentological and palynological data from two sediment cores taken ineastern Colombia and northwestern Braziltogether with seismic information. We observed two distinct marine intervalsin the Llanos Basin, an early Miocene that lasted ~0.9 My (million years) (18.1 to 17.2 Ma) and a middle Miocene that lasted~3.7 My (16.1 to 12.4 Ma). These two marine intervals are alsoseen in Amazonas/Solimões Basin (northwestern Amazonia)but were much shorter in duration, ~0.2 My (18.0 to 17.8 Ma) and ~0.4 My (14.1 to 13.7 Ma), respectively. Our resultsindicate that shallow marine waters covered the region at least twice during the Miocene, but the events were short-lived, rather than a continuous full-marine occupancy of Amazonian landscape over millions of years

The exhibition design has always been – among other design disciplines – one of the most innovative field of experimentation both for languages and projects improvement. The paper aims at studying the potential of art of being a metaphorical “tool” for the interior design approach both in terms of cultural exhibitions and installations. For this reason we present two groups of cases: cultural exhibitions designed by artists and artistic installations created by designers and architects. The relationship between the design approach and artistic installations can be seen in three dimensions of the design process: in exploring the theoretical meaning of the space (the art as a media to know novel vocations of spaces during the concept generation process); in experimenting the physical impact of the artifact in the space (the art as a matter of innovation during the verification of the project); in expressing innovative spatial concepts (the art as a “language” to communicate novel provocative and disruptive visions during the communication of the idea). In conclusion: we embrace the idea that art can be considered as a paradigmatic incubator in the process of “living” the Interiors. Starting from that, we are going to underline some methodological attitudes within the design culture in relation to the artistic research and to interpret new aesthetics.

The present study conducted the first assessment of the occupational risk associated to artisanal cashew nut roasting by the use of exposure and effect biomarkers, as well as the characterization and dispersion analysis of the released particulate matter (PM). The PM concentrations in the exposed area were higher than in the non-exposed area. Furthermore, in the control area yielded a higher prevalence of coarse particles, while in the exposed area was observed fine particles. The morphological analysis showed a wide variety of particles. Biomass burning tracers K, Cl, S and Ca were the major inorganic compounds and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) with mutagenic and carcinogenic potential, such as benzo[a]pyrene, benzo[b]fluoranthene, benzo[a]anthracene, benzo[j]fluoranthene and indeno[1,2,3-c,d]pyrene were the most abundant PAHs. In addition, atmospheric modeling analysis suggest that these particles can reach regions higher than 40 kilometers. Occupational PAH exposure was confirmed by increases in 1-OHP levels in cashew nut workers. The frequencies of BMCyt biomarkers of genotoxic (micronuclei and nuclear bud) and cytotoxic (pyknosis, karyolysis, karyorrhexis and condensed chromatin) were higher in the exposed group (p < 0.0001) compared with the control group. The influence of factors such as age on the micronucleus was evidenced and a correlation between 1-OHP and MN was observed. It was the first study to found a correlation between these types of biomarkers. The uses of exposure and effect biomarkers were therefore efficient in assessing the occupational risk associated with artisanal cashew nut roasting and the high rates of PM2.5 are considered a potential contributor to this effect.

An experimental study on the interaction of heavy, highly charged, and energetic ions (52 MeV Ni^13+) with pure H2O, pure CO2 and mixed H2O:CO2 astrophysical ice analogs is presented. This analysis aims to simulate the chemical and the physicochemical interactions induced by heavy cosmic rays inside dense and cold astrophysical environments such as molecular clouds or protostellar clouds. The measurements were performed at the heavy ion accelerator GANIL (Grand Accelerateur National d'Ions Lourds in Caen, France). The gas samples were deposited onto a CsI substrate at 13 K. In-situ analysis was performed by a Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometer at different fluences. Radiolysis yields of the produced species were quantified. The dissociation cross sections of pure H2O and CO2 ices are 1.1 and 1.9E-13 cm^2, respectively. In the case of mixed H2O:CO2 (10:1) the dissociation cross sections of both species are about 1E-13 cm^2. The measured sputtering yield of pure CO2 ice is 2.2E4 molec/ion. After a fluence of 2-3E12 ions/cm^2 the CO2/CO ratio becomes roughly constant (~0.1), independent of the of initial CO2/H2O ratio. A similar behavior is observed for the H2O2/H2O ratio which stabilizes at 0.01, independent of the initial H2O column density or relative abundance., Comment: 13 pages, 9 figures, 4 tables. This consensus table summarizes the current published data, which was collated following extensive literature searches, their assessment for level of evidence and discussion among the whole group. Published information is supplemented by expert opinion based on clinical experience from 16 European countries, involving 28 clinicians, who treat an average of approximately 200 patients annually, representing many thousand spasticity treatments with botulinum toxin per year.

Deeply inside dense molecular clouds and protostellar disks, the interstellar ices are protected from stellar energetic UV photons. However, X-rays and energetic cosmic rays can penetrate inside these regions triggering chemical reactions, molecular dissociation and evaporation processes. We present experimental studies on the interaction of heavy, highly charged and energetic ions (46 MeV Ni^13+) with ammonia-containing ices in an attempt to simulate the physical chemistry induced by heavy ion cosmic rays inside dense astrophysical environments. The measurements were performed inside a high vacuum chamber coupled to the heavy ion accelerator GANIL (Grand Accelerateur National d'Ions Lourds) in Caen, France.\textit{In-situ} analysis is performed by a Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR) at different fluences. The averaged values for the dissociation cross section of water, ammonia and carbon monoxide due to heavy cosmic ray ion analogs are ~2x10^{-13}, 1.4x10^{-13} and 1.9x10^{-13} cm$^2$, respectively. In the presence of a typical heavy cosmic ray field, the estimated half life for the studied species is 2-3x10^6 years. The ice compaction (micropore collapse) due to heavy cosmic rays seems to be at least 3 orders of magnitude higher than the one promoted by (0.8 MeV) protons .
