Dept. of Community & Preventive Medicine, 2009., The purpose of the study was to identify how a structured, community-based rotation influenced pediatric nurse practitioner students' awareness and understanding of the socio-cultural context of pediatric health. Study aims are: • To describe a community-based learning program that seeks to increase nurse practitioner students’ knowledge and attitudes. • To demonstrate whether knowledge regarding community-based organizations and child advocacy increases due to participation in the community-based learning program. • To identify and assess a change in practitioner attitude toward the role of socio-cultural influences on child health and child advocacy due to participation in the community-based learning program.
