Alguns propòsits de la liberalització del mercat elèctric van ser fomentar la competència, incrementar l’eficiència del sistema, estimular la innovació i disminuir el cost elèctric per als consumidors, passant d’un sistema dominat per un petit número d’empreses integrades verticalment que controlaven la generació, la distribució i la comercialització a un sistema obert a nous participants. Més de 20 anys després, el sistema encara no ha assolit la liberalització total, caracteritzada per una competència perfecta i una plena obertura del mercat, tal com apunten els elevats preus de l’electricitat, les excessives barreres d’entrada i el domini de grans companyies. La difícil detecció de males pràctiques ha portat a la investigació de mecanismes per detectar i mitigar aquestes estratègies, tot i que encara hi ha molt camí a recórrer. El present treball analitza l’exercici del poder de mercat de les 3 companyies de generació més grans de la Península Ibèrica per l’any 2022 i 2023 mitjançant l’ús d’un índex estructural desenvolupat recentment: l’Índex de Retorn de la Capacitat Retinguda o RWC. L’índex indica els incentius que experimenten els generadors per retenir capacitat del mercat majorista de l’electricitat, i és un índex calculable amb dades públiques disponibles, que té en compte factors crucials com l’elasticitat de la demanda i els portafolis de generació de les companyies. The liberalization of the electricity markets since the 1990s moved the electricity markets away from their traditional vertically integrated structure to a competitive market-based one. The objectives were clear: attract private investments, minimize government involvement, improve operational efficiency, foster innovation, and ultimately minimize electricity costs for customers. Several decades later, however, this market transformation is still ongoing and it has not been able to eliminate the potential to exercise market power. Moreover, the detection or control of market power has shown to be particularly challenging. Several indexes and methods have been developed over time to measure or detect market power, although none of them have succeeded in establishing a standard for market monitoring endeavours. For this purpose, this master’s dissertation investigates a recently newly developed index named the Return on Withholding Capacity Index (RWC). The RWC Index measures the incentives generators experience to withhold capacity from the wholesale electricity market. The advantage of this methodology is that it can be readily calculated with publicly available data, and it takes into account demand elasticity and the specific nature of the generator’s portfolio. Furthermore, the methodology can be easily standardized to apply across different markets, and across time. The applicability of the RWC Index is demonstrated by applying the methodology to the Iberian electricity wholesale market in the year 2022. Overall, it can be concluded that market power potential in the Iberian wholesale electricity market was fairly low in 2022. Large generators seem to only experience incentives to withhold capacity during a limited amount of hours per year, while incentives for smaller generators are nearly non-existent. Con este fin, esta tésis de máster investiga un índice de reciente creación, denominado Índice de Retorno de la Capacidad Retenida (Return onWithholding Capacity Index, RWC). The prediction and characterization of solar irradiation relies mostly on either the use of complex models or on complicated mathematical techniques, such as artificial neural network (ANN)-based algorithms. This mathematical complexity might hamper their use by businesses and project developers when assessing the solar resource. In this study, a simple but comprehensive methodology for characterizing the solar resource for a project is presented. It is based on the determination of the best probability distribution function (PDF) of the solar irradiation for a specific location, assuming that the knowledge of statistical techniques may be more widely extended than other more complex mathematical methods. The presented methodology was tested on 23 cities across Morocco, given the high interest in solar investments in the country. As a result, a new database for solar irradiation values depending on historical data is provided for Morocco. The results show the great existing variety of PDFs for the solar irradiation data at the different months and cities, which demonstrates the need for undertaking a proper characterization of the irradiation when the assessment of solar energy projects is involved. When it is simply needed to embed the radiation uncertainty in the analysis, as is the case of the techno-economic valuation of solar energy assets, the presented methodology can reach this objective with much less complexity and less demanding input data. En el present treball s'aprofundirà en temàtiques de blockchain i energia i en com les sinergies entre ambdues poden ser aprofitades per a noves oportunitats tecnològiques. Primerament, es farà un repàs a escala mundial d'en quin estat es troba tant la tecnologia blockchain com el sector que uneix energia i blockchain. A continuació es farà una anàlisi d'algunes de les limitacions i necessitats del sector energètic espanyol, a fi de trobar una oportunitat tecnològica que combini energia i blockchain i pugui ser beneficiosa per a aquest. Aquesta oportunitat identificada, consistent en una eina per a comercialitzadores i amb finalitat de fomentar l'aparició d'iniciatives de flexibilitat, es detallarà en concepte i estructura indicant els beneficis i funcionaments d'aquesta. Per acabar, el treball finalitzarà amb el desenvolupament d'una versió pilot de la iniciativa plantejada, llista per a ser provada en un entorn real., En el presente trabajo se profundizará en temáticas de blockchain y energía y en como las sinergias entre ambas pueden ser aprovechadas para nuevas oportunidades tecnológicas. Primeramente, se hará un repaso a nivel mundial de en qué estado se encuentra tanto la tecnología blockchain como el sector que une energía y blockchain. A continuación se hará un análisis de algunas de las limitaciones y necesidades del sector energético español, con el fin de encontrar una oportunidad tecnológica que combine energía y blockchain y pueda ser beneficiosa para este. Dicha oportunidad identificada, consistente en una herramienta para comercializadoras y con finalidad de fomentar la aparición de iniciativas de flexibilidad, se detallará en concepto y estructura, indicando los beneficios y funcionamientos de la misma. Finalmente, el trabajo finalizará con el desarrollo de una versión piloto de la iniciativa planteada, lista para ser probada en un entorno real., This paper will delve into blockchain and energy topics and how the synergies between the two can be exploited for new technological opportunities. First of all, a worldwide review of the state of blockchain technology and the sector that links energy and blockchain will be made. Then an analysis of some limitations and needs of the Spanish energy sector will be made, in order to find a technological opportunity that combines energy and blockchain and can be beneficial for it. This identified opportunity, consisting of a tool for marketers and with the aim of promoting the emergence of flexibility initiatives, will be detailed in concept and structure indicating the benefits and performance of the same. Finally, the work will end with the development of a pilot version of the proposed initiative, ready to be tested in a real environment.

Incident detection is a key component in real-time traffic management systems that allows efficient response plan generation and decision making by means of risk alerts at critical affected sections in the network. State-of-the-art incident detection techniques traditionally require: i) good quality data from closely located sensor pairs, ii) a minimum of two reliable measurements from the flow- occupancy-speed triad, and iii) supervised adjustment of thresholds that will trigger anomalous traffic states. Despite such requirements may be reasonably achieved in simulated scenarios, real-time downstream applications rarely work under such ideal conditions and must deal with low reliability data, missing measurements, and scarcity of curated incident labelled datasets, among other challenges. This paper proposes an unsupervised technique based on univariate timeseries anomaly detection for computationally efficient incident detection in real-world scenarios. Such technique is proved to successfully work when only flow measurements are available, and to dynamically adjust thresholds that adapt to changes in the supply. Moreover, results show good performance with low-reliability and missing data.

Aquest projecte té com a objectiu realitzar un estudi de l’impacte econòmic de les energies renovables sobre el mercat elèctric espanyol durant el període comprès entre els anys 2002 i 2022. Aquest impacte correspon a una reducció dels preus de l’electricitat que suposa un estalvi sobre el subministrament elèctric. La comparació d’aquest estalvi amb el cost de les primes de les polítiques de promoció de les energies renovables permet avaluar la compensació d’aquest cost, que resulta positiva i de 2.340 M€. Paral·lelament s’estableix l’objectiu d’estudiar també l’impacte de les ordres complexes sobre el mercat elèctric i el mateix període d’estudi. Aquestes ordres impliquen un augment en els preus del mercat durant el procés de cassació, que es quantifica en uns costos de 96.000 M€ i comparables amb el cost de les primes. Aquest elevat valor porta a un estudi exhaustiu de les ordres complexes centrat en les cinc principals companyies energètiques d’Espanya: Endesa, Iberdrola, Edp, Naturgy i Repsol. S’estudien les característiques i comportaments d’aquestes ordres a partir d’anàlisi estadístics i models predictius d’Intel·ligència Artificial, que deriven en la identificació d’estratègies per part de les companyies energètiques envers aquests tipus d’ordres. This impact corresponds to a reduction in electricity prices, resulting in savings in electricity supply. Comparing this savings with the cost of premiums for renewable energy promotion policies allows for evaluating the compensation of this cost, which is positive and amounts to 2.340 M€. Additionally, the aim is also to study the impact of complex orders on the electricity market during the same study period. These orders imply an increase in market prices during the clearing process, quantified in costs of 96.000 M€ and comparable to the cost of premiums. This high value leads to a comprehensive study of complex orders focused on the five major energy companies in Spain: Endesa, Iberdrola, Edp, Naturgy, and Repsol. The characteristics and behaviours of these orders are studied through statistical analysis and predictive models of Artificial Intelligence, resulting in the identification of strategies adopted by energy companies regarding these types of orders. The methodology used is based on the creation of different programs with the Python programming language that allows to automate calculations and implement predictive models, using aggregated supply and demand curves from daily sessions of the electricity market as the main data source.

Centrifugal atomization is a rapid solidification technique involving fast cooling rates to produce high-quality powders. The final microstructure of the atomized particles is closely linked with the thermal history and cooling rates experienced during the atomization process. However, there is insufficient research on the temperature evolution of metal particles produced by this technique, and most works evaluate the thermal history of the droplet through semi-empirical correlations that lie outside the conditions where they were derived. In this work, the cooling rate of centrifugally atomized Al-4%Cu was studied via mathematical modelling and experimental validation. A heat transfer model was implemented, and the value of the convective heat transfer coefficient was obtained from the Whitaker semi-empirical correlation considering three cases of study for the thermophysical properties of the gas. The validity of the Whitaker correlation was experimentally evaluated by means of cooling rates based on the Secondary Dendrite Arm Spacing (SDAS) technique. Renewable energy is increasingly mobilizing more investment around the globe. However, there has been little attention to evaluating economic and regulatory (E&R) uncertainties, despite their enormous impact on the project cashflows. Consequently, this review analyzes, classifies, and discusses 130 articles dealing with the design of renewable energy projects under E&R uncertainties. After performing a survey and identifying the selected manuscripts, and the few previous reviews on the matter, the following innovative categorization is designed: sources of uncertainty, uncertainty characterization methods, problem formulations, solution methods, and regulatory frameworks. The classification reveals that electricity price is the most considered source of uncertainty, often alone, despite the existence of six other equally influential groups of E&R uncertainties. In addition, real options and optimization arise as the two main approaches researchers use to solve problems in energy system design. Subsequently, the following aspects of interest are discussed in depth: how modeling can be improved, which are the most influential variables, and potential lines of research. This paper addresses the attainment of a methodology aimed at obtaining simplified models embedding the regulatory constraints imposed by the country-specific remuneration mechanisms in the energy management system of long operating life renewable assets under a high degree of uncertainty. This methodology, composed of different steps in which sensitivity analysis as well as Monte Carlo simulation play a key role, is focused on a significant case study that has implemented two of the most widely used worldwide remuneration mechanisms in the promotion of renewable energies, i.e., feed-in tariffs and auctions. The earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization have been used as the output variable of the energy management model, as it is essential to take into account both revenues and operating costs of these renewable assets to manage them optimally. Some valid simplified models have been achieved by applying the proposed methodology to the case study with generalized errors below 5%. Specifically, one simplified energy management system model has been obtained under the feed-in tariff scheme, which involves acting on almost 40% of the equations of the original model and reducing the initial input parameters by 22%. Meanwhile, two simplified energy management system models have been obtained under the auction scheme. The most conservative simplified model involves acting on almost 50% of the equations of the original model and reducing the initial input parameters by 35%, while in the less conservative case it involves acting on more than 50% of the equations of the original model and reducing the initial input parameters by 42%. In short, although the uncertainty on the energy assets cannot be completely eliminated, it can be considerably reduced by facilitating the assessment of its prospective financial results. Agraïment: L'article de l'editorial Elsevier, MONTE-CARLO probabilistic valuation of concentrated solar power systems in Spain under the 2014 retroactive regulatory framework, es pot consultar a la web, DOI 10.1016/j.rser.2020.110670, (English) In recent years, the development of a generation system based on renewable energies has become the backbone of the energy policies of most countries in the world in the search for the decarbonization of the energy sector to contain planet global warming. The remarkable progress achieved in the reconversion of the electricity generation sector worldwide towards a renewable model has been acquired in large part by the public support policies for renewable generation technologies implemented. Spain has not been an exception, but rather a particularly relevant case study due to the numerous legislative changes experienced in the regulation of renewable energies in the last two decades. Specifically, Spain went from being one of the world's leading countries in the promotion of renewable energy sources, especially solar and wind, through the implementation of legal-economic frameworks with high associated economic returns during the first decade of the 2000s, to being one of the first countries to retroactively apply containment measures to reduce the disproportionate development costs that put the financial sustainability of the Spanish electricity sector at risk, giving rise to very unfavourable conditions for renewable assets in the second decade of the 2000s. In this sense, this thesis, presented as a compendium of articles, is developed within the line of research focused on the analysis and synthesis of regulatory frameworks to optimize decision-making in the design and management of energy assets, contributing to the state of the art from three papers published in indexed journals. Espanya no ha estat una excepció, sinó un cas d’estudi especialment rellevant pels nombrosos canvis legislatius experimentats en la regulació de les energies renovables en les darreres dues dècades. En concret, Espanya va passar de ser un dels països líders mundials en la promoció de les fonts d’energia renovable, especialment la solar i la eòlica, mitjançant la implementació de marcs juridicoeconòmics amb altes rendibilitats econòmiques associades durant la primera dècada dels anys 2000, a ser un dels primers països en aplicar retroactivament mesures de contenció per reduir els costos de promoció desproporcionats que posaven en risc la sostenibilitat financera del sector elèctric espanyol, donant lloc a unes condicions molt desfavorables per als actius renovables en la segona dècada dels anys 2000. En aquest sentit, aquesta tesi, presentada com a compendi d’articles, es desenvolupa dins la línia de recerca centrada en l’anàlisi i síntesi dels marcs reguladors per optimitzar la presa de decisions en el disseny i la gestió d’actius energètics, contribuint en l’estat de l’art a partir de tres articles publicats en revistes indexades. En primer lloc, aquest projecte pretén aportar a l’acadèmia una revisió exhaustiva de l'evolució de la política d'energia solar a Espanya durant el període 1998-2020, a través del primer article de revisió. El destacable progreso logrado en la reconversión del sector de la generación eléctrica hacia un modelo renovable se ha adquirido en gran parte por las políticas de apoyo público a las tecnologías de producción renovables implementadas. España no ha sido una excepción, sino un caso de estudio especialmente relevante por los numerosos cambios legislativos experimentados en la regulación de las renovables en las últimas dos décadas. En concreto, España pasó de ser uno de los países líderes mundiales en la promoción de las renovables, especialmente la solar y la eólica, mediante la implementación de marcos reguladores con altas rentabilidades económicas asociadas durante la primera década de los años 2000, a ser uno de los primeros países en aplicar retroactivamente medidas de contención para reducir los costes de promoción desorbitados que ponían en riesgo la sostenibilidad financiera del sector eléctrico español, dando lugar a unas condiciones muy desfavorables para los activos renovables en la segunda década de los años 2000. En este sentido, esta tesis, presentada como compendio de artículos, se desarrolla dentro de la línea de investigación centrada en el análisis y síntesis de los marcos reguladores para optimizar la toma de decisiones en el diseño y la gestión de activos energéticos, contribuyendo en el estado del arte a partir de tres artículos publicados en revistas indexadas. Para llevar a cabo este trabajo se partirá de las subastas realizadas en España bajo el Real Decreto 413/2014 y Real Decreto 960/2020. Estas subastas se regían por marcos regulatorios en los cuales se primaban diferentes aspectos. Esto genera el interés de analizar el comportamiento de los promotores en cada una de ellas. Para poder llevar a cabo el análisis se realizará un exhaustivo trabajo de investigación de las empresas que han sido adjudicatarias de las subastas para extraer información sobre las plantas asociadas, estas y las características que permitan dicho análisis. Se extraerán datos de todo tipo: tanto de ubicación como de inversión, datos técnicos, etc. Posteriormente, se realizará un trabajo físico de modelización determinista que permita extraer datos de plantas solares de las que se disponga de datos técnicos suficientes para llevar a cabo el análisis. Posteriormente, se realizará otro trabajo de modelización estocástico que permita observar el comportamiento energético de las centrales solares fotovoltaicas (CSF). Una vez realizado el análisis de las subastas, se puede concluir que a grandes rasgos no hay cambios significativos en el diseño de estas, salvo alguna excepción. Se ha podido comprobar que la gran mayoría de las plantas solares de 2017 eran diseñadas con seguimiento solar a un eje orientado N-S y seguimiento E-O a excepción del 7%, que son de estructura fija, y un 5% de seguimiento a dos ejes. Mientras que las licitadas en 2021, aunque no se disponga que gran información por su reciente subasta, están diseñadas con seguimiento a un eje, excepto una unidad en la que la potencia de la instalación es inferior a la de preasignación, lo que podría ser el incentivo para instalar seguimiento a dos ejes con el fin de aumentar la producción energética. Cabe destacar que en el Real Decreto 960/2020 se establece un tope de horas de inyección que provoca que las instalaciones se paralicen al superarlo, ya que dejan de percibir ese importe de venta e, Per fer el treball es partirà per un primer anàlisi dels marcs reguladors que promocionen la generació de les energies renovables, d'aquesta anàlisi s'extreu que existeixen dos marcs reguladors. S'ha pogut comprovar que la majoria de plantes solars de 2017 eren dissenyades amb seguiment solar a un eix amb orientació N-S i seguiment E-O. Amb la modalització s'ha pogut observar les variacions de generació energètica que representa el seguiment solar i com influeixen els paràmetres de les plantes com la irradiació i la temperatura., This project is based on the public bids held in Spain under Real Decreto 413/2014 and Real Decreto 960/2020. These bids were subject to regulatory frameworks in which different aspects were valued. This creates an interest in analyzing the behavior of the promoters of each one of these bids. In order to carry out this analysis I will conduct a thorough work of investigation of the companies that won the bids to extract information about their energy plants and the features that allow the analysis. I will extract all kind of data: location, investment, technical data, etc. Later I will perform a physical deterministic modeling work which will allow me to extract data of solar plants of which I have enough technical data to carry out the analysis. After that, I will undertake another stochastic modeling work that allows me to monitor the energetic behavior of the photovoltaic solar power plants. Once the analysis of the bids is complete, we can broadly conclude that there are no significant changes in the design, but for a few exceptions. I was able to verify that the great majority of solar power plants in 2017 were designed with single axis sun tracking oriented N-S and E-W tracking, except for the 7%, that have a fixed structure, and a 5% that have two-axis tracking. Whereas the ones tendered in 2021, even though not all the information is available because of its recent bidding, are designed with single axis tracking except for one unit in which the installation power is lower than that of the preassignment, which could be an incentive to install two-axis tracking in order to increase the energetic production. It is worth noting that the Real Decreto 960/2020 sets a maximum number of hours of injection, which makes the installations to stop working when they reach the limit, because they stop receiving the sales amount established in energy; this could be the reason for not using the two-axis tracking, but we don’t have enough information to confirm that. The scope of this thesis is related to the enhancement of the operation of distributed generators (DGs) based on renewable energies (REs) when connected to the conventional grid network. Synchronization of those DGs, i.e. their front-end inverters, with the grid is critical for injecting power into the grid. Internal control loops of voltage source inverters (VSIs) monitor parameters such as the utility voltage's phase, amplitude, and frequency to achieve proper synchronization and inject power into the grid. Therefore, an appropriate estimation of the grid parameters is needed for completing the mentioned goals. The different existing monitoring techniques still face technical challenges when appearing faults on the grid, particularly voltage sags and voltage swells. From those techniques, SOGI-FLL and SOGI-PLL are widely spread in power inverters. In the mentioned faulty conditions, a degradation of the estimated parameters occurs due to the impact of the grid defaults on the dynamic performance of the SOGI-FLL and SOGI-PLL estimators. In the literature, it was not found contributions to those problems. This research aimed to contribute by providing a fast and accurate detection of the faults, yielding a robust dynamical response of the VSIs control structure in front of such perturbations, thanks to a fast and precise estimation of grid parameters. This faults detection strategy was accompanied by minimization of the monitored parameters drift due to inherent harmonic pollution of the faults. Then a first contribution has been the design and implementation of a Finite State Machine on a synchronization structure known as SOGI-PLL and in SOGI-FLL, enhancing their dynamical response regarding transient time and steady-state response in front of voltage sags. A second contribution has been implementing the strategy to face the problems derived from voltage swells with satisfactory results. The research was carried out in the E3PACS laboratory facilities of EEBE-UPC., L'abast d'aquesta tesi està relacionat amb la millora del funcionament dels generadors distribuïts (DG, distributed generation en anglès) basats en energies renovables quan es connecten a la xarxa elèctrica convencional. La sincronització d'aquests DG amb la xarxa és fonamental per injectar energia a aquesta, especialment quan es tracta d'inversors de potència. Els llaços de control interns dels inversors de font de tensió (VSI, Voltage Source Inverters en anglès) controlen paràmetres com ara la fase, l'amplitud i la freqüència de la tensió de la xarxa per aconseguir una sincronitzaciórequerida. Per tant, es necessita una estimació adequada dels paràmetres del bus de tensió per assolir els objectius esmentats. Les diferents tècniques de monitorització existents encara s'enfronten a reptes tècnics a l'hora d'aparèixer fallades a la xarxa, especialment caigudes i augments abruptes de tensió ("Voltage sags" i "Voltage swells" en anglès, respectivament). En el cas dels inversors, les tècniques basades en estructures SOGI-FLL i SOGI-PLL estan àmpliament esteses i, en les esmentades condicions de fallada, es produeix una degradació dels paràmetres estimats a causa de l'impacte dels defectes de la xarxa en el seu comportament dinàmic . A la literatura, no es van trobar contribucions rellevants per mitigar aquests problemes. Aquesta investigació pretén doncs contribuir proporcionant una detecció ràpida i precisa de les fallades, donant una resposta dinàmica robusta de l'estructura de control dels VSI davant d'aquestes pertorbacions, gràcies a una estimació ràpida i precisa dels paràmetres de la xarxa. In the context of the increasing popularity of self-sufficient communities around the globe, this study aims to compare the economic performance of energy management in two distinct situations: whether it is conducted individually or collectively within a community. After setting the context and completing a literature review, a research gap concerning the influence of regulatory frameworks in the economic results is identified. Therefore, this work presents this comparison under several frameworks employed to promote renewable energy, in order to provide a more realistic point of view and deliver insights in policy making. To this end, a mixed integer linear program (MILP) is developed, and the formulation of three key regulatory schemes is embedded into it: feed-in tariff, net metering, and self-consumption schemes. A what-if analysis is performed in order to take into account different combinations of rewarding parameters for each regulatory framework, as well as different profiles of consumption for the individual case. Results show that energy management within a community improves the overall average benefit of the customers up to 0.44 €/day·dwelling, for all of the studied frameworks except feed-in-tariff and some instances of type-B self-consumption, which can reduce it up to -0.87 €/day·dwelling. Aquest projecte es basa en el desenvolupament d’una plataforma mòbil que consta de la shield EVShield connectada a una placa Arduino, una estructura amb peces LEGO i sensors i actuadors tant de la marca LEGO com d’altres marques. En el projecte també es compara l’ús d’aquestes eines amb les eines utilitzades actualment a la docència i, finalment, es valora si les noves presenten unes millors condicions per ser aplicades educativament., This project is based on the development of a mobile platform consisting of the EVShield shield connected to an Arduino board, a structure with LEGO pieces and sensors and actuators both from the LEGO brand and other brands. The project also compares the use of these tools with the tools currently used in teaching and, finally, assesses whether the new ones have better conditions to be applied educationally.

Objectius de Desenvolupament Sostenible::7 - Energia Assequible i No Contaminant

Auction mechanism have been widely used throughout the world for the development of renewable energy sources (RES) in the last decades. The results vary to country to country, nevertheless they have been useful for the development of RES. In November 2020, the Spanish government released the royal decree 960/2020 which creates the new remuneration framework for renewable energy sources and lay down the rules for projects to get access to it through a tender mechanism. The main objective of this legislation is to boost the installation of renewable energy capacity so that the Spanish government could comply with the self-imposed goals for a decarbonized energy system before 2030. The new remuneration framework will be granted through a tender procedure. The product to auction will be installed capacity, electric energy or a mixture of both. RES projects will participate presenting their energy price and if they comply with the parameters of the tender and are competitive enough may win the bidded price of energy. For those RES projects that are granted the new remuneration framework, their perceived energy price will be the result of an equation that ties the bidded price to the market price. The current Royal Decree 413/2014 legal-economic framework for concentrating solar power plants in Spain has been analysed from a probabilistic perspective. Due to the high inherent risk in most of the parameters defining this economic regime, the use of a probabilistic model is proposed to perform the economic valuation of these facilities. A methodology composed of different steps has been developed and applied to a representative concentrating solar power plant type with thermal energy storage. This method has proven useful for distinguishing the input parameters to be considered as stochastic by using a sensitivity analysis, and also for performing the probabilistic valuation by using the discounted cash flow-Monte Carlo analysis. The results have revealed a great variability in the several output economic indicators considered. Diagnosis is essential for the management and treatment of patients with rare diseases. In a group of patients, the genetic study identifies variants of uncertain significance or inconsistent with the phenotype; therefore, it is urgent to develop novel strategies to reach the definitive diagnosis. Herein, we develop the in-house Translational Diagnostics Program (TDP) to validate genetic variants as part of the diagnostic process with the close collaboration of physicians, clinical scientists, and research scientists. The first 7 of 33 consecutive patients for whom exome-based tests were not diagnostic were investigated. The TDP pipeline includes four steps: (i) phenotype assessment, (ii) literature review and prediction of in silico pathogenicity, (iii) experimental functional studies, and (iv) diagnostic decision-making. Re-evaluation of the phenotype and re-analysis of the exome allowed the diagnosis in one patient. In the remaining patients, the studies included either cDNA cloning or PCR-amplified genomic DNA, or the use of patients' fibroblasts. A comparative computational analysis of confocal microscopy images and studies related to the protein function was performed. In five of these six patients, evidence of pathogenicity of the genetic variant was found, which was validated by physicians. The current Danish regulatory framework BEK 999/2016 for hourly net settled new PV facilities is analysed in detail, evaluating the technical and economic differences between the several envisioned schemes. In addition to the saved cost of the self-consumed energy, the transmission system operator (TSO) tariffs and the public service obligation (PSO) tax are avoided for the self-consumed energy. Advantages regarding the electricity tax and VAT can also be obtained but according to a more varied casuistry, with a particular incentivizing effect for the residential customers. The installation-connected type group 2 is found the cheaper scheme and the billing concepts responsible for its minor cost are identified. This analysis is expected to contribute to discerning the different economic outcomes of the various schemes, helping to take informed investment decisions. The following paper aims to prove the importance of embedding the regulatory framework when analyzing the distributed generation activity of an energy community. At present, most of the scientific literature has focused on distributed energy, and energy communities address the issue of regulatory frameworks qualitatively. In this paper, the most representative regulatory frameworks devoted to the promotion of energy communities were analyzed and synthesized, namely, feed-in tariffs, net metering, and the self-consumption scheme. As a result, an algebraic model able to represent the essence of the regulatory structures related to those remuneration mechanisms was obtained. Next, this model was embedded into a physical model, based on real data, previously created. The resulting Mixed Integer Linear Program (MILP) was used to identify the implications of these frameworks. The results demonstrate the impact of regulatory schemes on energy management and economic results of an energy community. Aquest projecte té per objectiu presentar una metodologia d’optimització per la planificació i l’operació d’un Sistema Agregador de Recursos Energètics Distribuïts (DER) amb participació en el Mercat Elèctric espanyol. Els agregadors són entitats que gestionen una cartera concreta d’actius de forma agregada amb la finalitat d’obtenir el màxim benefici de la xarxa en la tasca de satisfer la demanda del sistema. Mitjançant la proposta d’un Sistema Agregador de DER i el seu corresponent model de planificació amb capacitat suficient per influir en el preu de mercat, aquest estudi pretén determinar les transaccions adequades per a l’optimització de la funció de beneficis. Per tal de plantejar l’estratègia d’operació, s’utilitzen les corbes de demanda residual utilitzades per l’agregador per valorar l’efecte resultant de la venta o la compra d’energia sobre el preu de mercat a cada hora de cada dia de l’any. Les corbes de demanda residual d’un participant en el mercat elèctric s’utilitzen per relacionar el preu de cassació amb la quantitat aportada pel participant, i es tracta en efecte d’una aproximació àmpliament utilitzada per formular estratègies oligopolístiques. Mitjançant dades històriques del sistema elèctric espanyol i a través de la programació d’una aplicació amb Visual Basic for Applications de Microsoft Excel, s’han confeccionat les corbes horàries per un horitzó d’un any (2019) i s’ha automatitzat el procés per a què l’usuari pugui obtenir-les per a qualsevol hora de qualsevol dia de qualsevol any, per una de les cinc grans companyies elèctriques dominants a Espanya: Endesa, Iberdrola, EDP, Naturgy i Repsol-Viesgo., Este proyecto tiene por objetivo presentar una metodologia de optimización para la planificación i la operación de un Sistema Agregador de Recursos Energéticos Distribuidos (DER) con participación en el Mercado Eléctrico español. Con tal de plantear la aproximación a la estrategia de operación, se emplean las curvas de demanda residual utilizadas por el agregador para valorar el efecto resultante de la venta o la compra de energía sobre el precio de mercado a cada hora de cada día del año. Las curvas de demanda residual de un participante en el mercado eléctrico se utilizan para relacionar el precio de casación con la cantidad aportada por el participante, y se trata en efecto de una aproximación ampliamente utilizada para formular estrategias oligopolísticas. Mediante datos históricos del sistema eléctrico español y a través de la programación de una interfaz de usuario y un algoritmo con Visual Basic for Applications de Microsoft Excel, se han confeccionado las curvas horarias para un Horizonte de un año (2019) y se ha automatizado el proceso para que el usuario pueda obtenerlas para cualquier hora de cualquier día de cualquier año, para una de las cinco grandes compañías eléctricas dominantes en España: Endesa, Iberdrola, EDP, Naturgy y Repsol-Viesgo., This project aims to expose an optimization methodology for the planning and operation of a Distributed Energy Resources (DER) Aggregator System with participation in the Spanish Electricity Market. Aggregators are entities that manage a concrete portfolio of aggregated assets with the purpose of obtaining the maximum benefit from the grid when satisfying the system’s demand. Through the proposal of a DER Aggregator System and its correspondent planning model, this study aims to determine the appropriate grid transactions for the optimization of the benefits function, considering it has enough capacity to influence the market price. In order to pose the approach to the operation strategy, the problem takes into account the residual demand curves used by the aggregator in order to assess the resultant effect on the market price when selling or buying energy at every hour of every year’s day. The residual demand curves of an electric market participant are used to relate the market clearing price with the quantity contributed by the participant, and it is indeed a widely used approach to devise oligopolistic strategies. The residual demand aggregated curves have been built for a one-year horizon (2019) from historical data of the Spanish Electrical System and through the programming of an user interface and a Microsoft Excel’s Visual Basic for Application algorithm, and the process has been automated for the user to be able to obtain the curves for any hour of any day of any year, and for one of the five dominant electrical companies in Spain: Endesa, Iberdrola, EDP, Naturgy and Repsol-Viesgo.

The SOGI-FLL (Second-Order Generalized Integrator–Frequency-Locked Loop) is a well-known and simple adaptive filter that allows for estimating the parameters of grid voltage with a small computational burden. However, the SOGI-FLL has been shown to be especially sensitive to voltage sags and voltage swells, which deeply distort the estimated parameters, especially the frequency. This problem can be alleviated by simply using a saturation block at the Frequency-Locked Loop (FLL) output to limit the impact of distortion on the estimated frequency. Improving upon this straightforward approach, in this paper we propose the use of a finite state machine (FSM) for the definition of the different states of the SOGI-FLL frequency response during a voltage sag or swell fault. The FSM approach allows for applying different gains during the fault, enhancing the SOGI-FLL transient response. L'energia renovable és un dels models de futur més propers a la nostra societat a causa dels diferents canvis que ha patit el nostre planeta les últimes dues dècades. La necessitat d'utilitzar millor els recursos per a la sostenibilitat del món s'ha traduït en un avenç en la implementació de recursos tecnològics per aprofitar les diferents formes d'energia que la natura ens ofereix. Les energies de més renom i desenvolupament són les energies solar fotovoltaica i l'energia eòlica, les quals són les més productives a nivell energètic respecte la inversió econòmica que suposen. L'objectiu d'aquest treball és dissenyar una instal•lació d'autoconsum amb les energies abans esmentades per a l'aprofitament de tota l'energia elèctrica produïda i sigui autosuficient sense necessitat de connexió a la xarxa elèctrica. Cal afegir que, en aquest projecte s'ensenyarà i demostrarà la viabilitat de la instal•lació en termes energètics i econòmics, partint d'un model dissenyat sostenible i respectuós amb el medi ambient. Finalment, s'exposaran els pressupostos i plànols de la instal•lació amb els càlculs realitzats del disseny i les seves justificacions., La energía renovable es uno de los modelos de futuro más cercanos a nuestra sociedad a causa de los diferentes cambios que ha sufrido nuestro planeta las últimas dos décadas. La necesidad de utilizar mejor los recursos para la sostenibilidad del mundo se ha traducido en un avance en la implementación de recursos tecnológicos para aprovechar las diferentes formas de energía que la naturaleza nos ofrece. Las energías de más renombre y desarrollo son las energías solar fotovoltaica y la energía eólica, las cuales son las más productivas a nivel energético respecto a la inversión económica que suponen. El objetivo de este trabajo es diseñar una instalación de autoconsumo con las energías antes mencionadas que aproveche toda la energía eléctrica producida y sea autosuficiente sin necesidad de conexión a la red eléctrica. Hay que añadir que, en este proyecto se demuestra la viabilidad de la instalación en términos energéticos y económicos y que el modelo diseñado es sostenible y respetuoso con el medio ambiente. Finalmente, se muestran los presupuestos y planos de la instalación con los cálculos realizados del diseño y sus justificaciones., Renewable energy is one of the closest models of the future of our society due to the different changes that our planet has undergone in the last two decades. The need to make better use of the world's resources for sustainability has led to advances in the implementation of technological resources to take advantage of the different forms of energy that nature offers. The most renowned and developing energies are photovoltaic and wind energy, which are the most productive at the energy level with respect to the economic investment involved. The purpose of this work is to design a self-consumption facility with the aforementioned energies that will take advantage of all the electricity produced and is self-sufficient without the need to connect to the mains. The latest trend of low record bid prices in renewable energy auctions has raised concerns on the effective deployment of the winning projects. A survey of recent auction data from several countries, technologies and remuneration designs is analysed and compared with the corresponding levelised costs of energy (LCOEs) to draw first insights on their viability. A critical assessment of the ability of the LCOE for determining the adequate bid level is then performed and the preliminary unviable results of selected mature technologies are further investigated using improved profitability metrics as the project and equity net present value (NPV) and internal rate of return (IRR). As representative examples, the analysed Danish 2019 onshore wind and photovoltaics (PV) auctions require very specific scenarios to become viable, which cast doubts on their effective implementation. Under the assumptions of a realistic base case, the sensitivity analysis revealed that either 59% of decrease in the weighted average cost of capital (WACC), or 37% of discount on the investment cost or a 3.6% annual increment in the mean market price is needed for achieving the NPV break-even in the onshore wind case. Likewise, the PV case is unprofitable whatever the WACC may be, and either a 60% discount on the investment cost or a 6.8% annual increment in the mean market price is needed for the NPV to break-even. As renewable energy installation costs decrease and environmentally-friendly policies are progressively applied in many countries, distributed generation has emerged as the new archetype of energy generation and distribution. The design and economic feasibility of distributed generation systems is constrained by the operation of the microgrid, which has to consider the uncertainty of renewable energy sources, consumption habits and electricity market prices. In this paper, a mathematical model intended to optimize the design and economic feasibility of a microgrid is proposed. After a search in the state-of-the-art, weaknesses and strengths of existing models have been identified and taken into account for building the present model. The present model should be seen as a basis on which other models can be built upon, hence a complete definition of the different sub-models is stated: uncertainty modelling, optimization technique, physical constraints and regulatory framework. One of the main features presented is the generation of synthetic data in uncertainty modelling, employed to enhance the reliability of the model by taking into account a longer time horizon and a shorter time step. En el present treball es realitza una anàlisi sobre la normativa estatal vigent relativa a l’autoconsum d’energia elèctrica en instal·lacions fotovoltaiques. Es durà a terme mitjançant un estudi de les diferents condicions econòmiques, administratives i tècniques que han de complir aquest tipus d’instal·lacions per el cas d’estudi d’aquest projecte. Es realitza un estudi de les diferents modalitats d’autoconsum d’energia elèctrica aplicables al projecte junt amb els requisits amb els que ha de complir la instal·lació descrita en el cas d’estudi per a poder acollir-se a les modalitats possibles. Així mateix, es fa una anàlisi dels articles relacionats amb els accessos i connexions a xarxa, els contractes d’accés i de subministrament d’energia i els equips i requisits de mesura per a les modalitats d’autoconsum a les que es pot acollir la instal·lació fotovoltaica en qüestió. Per a facilitar la comprensió del marc legal estudiat, s’han realitzat esquemes i taules per cada apartat. This article proposes a new method for obtaining the total harmonic distortion (THD) using few math operations, a low-pass filter (LPF), and a grid monitoring system able to provide the fundamental and harmonics components of the grid voltage. The method is particularly developed by using the second-order generalized integrator (SOGI) error signal notch filter transfer function characteristics of a standard SOGI-FLL monitoring system. The method is accurate and has a small computational burden, so it is suitable for the online assessment of the grid voltage or current THD and can easily be implemented into a digital signal processor. The accuracy and transient response of the system have been analyzed, showing that they can easily be determined by the tuning of the SOGI filter and the LPF. The method also shows to be robust to grid perturbations, such us voltage sags, or swells, and frequency step changes. Simulations and experimental results are provided to validate the proposed THD method. Moreover, comparison with a fast Fourier transform (FFT)-based THD is also presented, which shows that the proposed THD method results to be faster, more accurate, and simpler than the FFT-based one., Peer Reviewed, Postprint (author's final draft)

El present TFG té com objecte dur a terme un estudi en detall sobre el Centre de Control d'Aigües de Barcelona, des d'un punt de vista energètic: - Es durà a terme un estudi de camp exhaustiu per determinar quines són les problemàtiques energètiques existents a l'edifici objecte d'estudi. - Es quantificarà econòmicament el cost que suposa per l'empresa cada problemàtica. - Es proposarà una solució tècnica per cada problemàtica detectada. Detallant el funcionament i la seva implantació. - Es durà a terme un estudi econòmic per cadascuna de les propostes, valorant així la seva viabilitat econòmica, tant de forma individualitzada com en conjunt.

Objectius de Desenvolupament Sostenible::7 - Energia Assequible i No Contaminant

This paper proposes for the first time to analyse the impact of embedding the regulatory framework constraints inside a model for the energy management optimization of a microgrid. As a case study, a low voltage microgrid using solar energy under the Spanish self-consumption scheme has been selected. The proposed model is based on a previous one elaborated by the authors, which did not include the regulatory framework. The results provided by the former and the new model have been compared, corroborating the importance of taking into account the economic aspects of the regulatory constraints when managing the facility. Furthermore, the results also highlight the urgency to extrapolate this approach to other countries, in order to enhance the economic feasibility of these facilities and aid to their deployment. El 1997 es produeix la liberalització del mercat elèctric espanyol, aquesta liberalització permet la lliure iniciativa empresarial per dedicar-se a l’activitat de producció elèctrica i ser retribuït per ella, un dels conceptes retributius d’aquesta activitat, és la retribució per la participació en els serveis d’ajust del sistema elèctric. A més, a partir del 10 de febrer de 2016, gràcies al Reial Decret 413/2014 es permet la participació dels productors a partir d’energies renovables, cogeneració i residus en els mercats de serveis d’ajust. L’electricitat no és pot emmagatzemar en grans quantitats i això implica que en el sistema elèctric espanyol, hagi d’existir un equilibri constant en temps real entre la generació i la demanda. L’encarregat de que això succeeixi és Red Eléctrica de España (REE), com a operador del sistema elèctric i les eines que utilitza, són els anomenats serveis d’ajust. Els serveis d’ajust són una sèrie de mecanismes que té l’operador del sistema (OS) per modificar els programes de producció de les centrals de generació elèctrica, l’OS necessita variar els programes de generació per tal d’igualar en tot moment la producció a la demanda elèctrica que fan tots els consumidors connectats a la xarxa. La necessitat dels serveis d’ajust neix de la variabilitat no prevista de la demanda i de la generació, ja que no es pot predir amb exactitud la demanda que tindrà un país en tot moment ni les possibles anomalies que pateixi el sistema de generació, com poden ser les incidències tècniques o les males previsions de recursos renovables que presenten una gran variabilitat són l’eòlic o el solar . Per entendre bé que són els serveis d’ajust, s’ha d’entendre el funcionament general del sistema elèctric espanyol coneixent la seva organització, els seus actors principals i la seva regulació. Este Trabajo Final de Máster se presenta con el propósito de contextualizar la situación actual de las comunidades energéticas y entender el impacto del marco regulatorio español sobre el desarrollo de la actividad de autoconsumo colectivo. Primero, se realiza una revisión bibliográfica utilizando los términos smart energy communities y energy communities de los artículos publicados hasta principios del año 2019. A continuación, se identifican los tipos de estudios, los métodos de análisis y las temáticas de interés relacionadas con las comunidades energéticas. Luego, se observa que la investigación sobre el impacto del marco normativo en el sector energético está poco desarrollada y se concluye que las publicaciones analizadas no dan respuesta a las incógnitas planteada en este trabajo final de máster. Posteriormente, se analiza la evolución del marco legal sobre autoconsumo y especialmente sobre autoconsumo colectivo, para así definir si las experiencias de éxito hubiesen sido viables en España bajo el actual Real Decreto 244/2019 de 5 de abril. Finalmente, se identifica que el tardío desarrollo de un marco jurídico y posteriormente la prohibición impuesta por el art. 4.3 del Real Decreto 900/2015 de 9 de octubre es la razón del por qué en otros países el marco normativo ha permitido el desarrollo de comunidades energéticas y en España no. Por otro lado, se establece que el Real Decreto 244/2019 de 5 de abril, acaba con las limitaciones impuestas a la actividad de autoconsumo colectivo y facilita el desarrollo de comunidades energéticas basadas en la actividad de autoconsumo. This report gives an overview of the different regulatory schemes applied to promote renewable energy sources in Denmark, with a special analysis on the legal framework for self-consumption. To do this report, first-hand sources have been used and translated, with the assessment of local experts. It includes an overview of the Danish electricity market as well as its integration of renewable. To do so, a legislation analysis is carried following with a more in-depth study of the evolution of the self-consumption schemes in Denmark. It is reached the conclusion that the only benefit for self-consumers are taxation benefits using hourly net settlements. There exist two types of hourly settlement: group 1, where all the electricity is exchanged to the market and group 2, where only the surplus or lacking electricity is exchanged. In addition, depending whether the production plant is connected to the consumption point internally or using the external grid, the billing differs. The different schemes are modelled and formulated. Simulations are performed in order to assess the behaviour of the electricity cost for the different schemes. It has been found that the prosumers with only one point of access to the grid have a much lower electricity price than the others. Moreover, the group 2 where only the surplus of electricity is sold is also found to be slightly more beneficial.

Ho farem indagant en els temes més desconeguts i menys tractats sobre aquest àmbit, com la monetització, l’addicció a les xarxes socials, la situació legal, la responsabilitat social i la reputació en línia. Finalment, desenvoluparem un projecte emprenedor basat en les necessitats del mercat detectades gràcies a la investigació prèvia., En este trabajo vamos a dedicarnos a analizar la actividad comercial que engloba el fenómeno influencer en España, especialmente en los perfiles categorizados como "lifestyle", entendidos como creadores de contenido capaces de liderar movimientos y crear tendencias en diferentes ámbitos del día a día. Lo haremos indagando en los temas más desconocidos y menos tratados sobre este ámbito, como la monetización, la adicción a las redes sociales, la situación legal, la responsabilidad social y la reputación en línea. Finalmente, desarrollaremos un proyecto emprendedor basado en las necesidades del mercado detectadas gracias a la investigación previa., In this work, we will analyse the commercial activity that encompasses the influencer phenomenon in Spain, especially in those profiles categorized as "lifestyle", understood as content creators capable of leading movements and creating trends in different areas of everyday life. We will do it looking into the most unknown and less treated issues in this field such as monetization, addiction to social networks, legal conditions, social responsibility and online reputation. Finally, we will develop an entrepreneurial project based on the necessities of the market detected thanks to previous investigation.

El canvi climàtic és una de les principals preocupacions de la societat actual, la reducció d’emissions de gasos d’efecte hivernacle (GhG) està a l’ordre del dia i és necessari establir millores urgents per aconseguir que els ecosistemes s’adaptin correctament a aquest canvi. A més, la globalització ha provocat un augment exponencial de la mobilitat marítima i per tant, com a conseqüència, un augment de les emissions de GhG. Davant d’aquesta problemàtica és necessari un control urgent de les emissions produïdes pels vaixells. Aquest treball intenta aportar la màxima informació possible referent a la gestió energètica eficient dels vaixells a partir de l’anàlisi de l’estat de l’art de la qüestió. En el transcurs de l’anàlisi s’aprofundeix en el control a alt nivell de la gestió en vaixells que utilitzen principalment generadors dièsel o que utilitzen combustibles fòssils juntament amb sistemes d’emmagatzematge i/o connexió a la xarxa elèctrica dels ports quan està atracat. A més, es realitza una anàlisi del control a alt nivell en vaixells que utilitzen tecnologia fotovoltaica com a principal font de subministrament. El treball es conclou amb un llistat de possibles noves vies d’investigació que podrien afavorir en la reducció del 100% de les emissions de GhG en la mobilitat marítima.

El següent document projecta una planta de biogàs a les terres de Lleida per poder donar una possible solució al tractament de diversos residus agroindustrials, a la vegada que és generarà electricitat. Primerament, s’explicarà breument la problemàtica sobre les dejeccions ramaderes, s’analitzarà la normativa elèctrica i en quines modalitats retributives és podrà acollir la central. Seguidament s’explicarà les diferents tecnologies aplicables, com funciona el procés de digestió anaeròbia i es dimensionarà la planta de biogàs. Per finalitzar és realitzarà un estudi d’implantació on es recollirà tots els procediments administratius genèrics i un estudi econòmic on s’analitzarà si es o no viable.
