BACKGROUND: Co-occurrence of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and type 1 diabetes (T1D) has been linked to poor clinical outcomes, but evidence on their bidirectional associations remain scarce. This study aims to investigate their bidirectional associations. METHODS: A nationwide matched cohort and case-control study with IBD patients identified between 1987 and 2017. The cohort study included 20,314 IBD patients (≤28 years; Crohn's disease [CD, n = 7277], ulcerative colitis [UC, n = 10,112], and IBD-unclassified [IBD-U, n = 2925]) and 99,200 individually matched reference individuals, with a follow-up until December 2021. The case-control study enrolled 87,001 IBD patients (no age restriction) and 431,054 matched controls. We estimated adjusted hazard ratio (aHR) of incident T1D in the cohort study with flexible parametric survival model and adjusted odds ratio (aOR) of having a prior T1D in the case-control study with conditional logistic regression model, with 95% confidence intervals (CI). FINDINGS: During a median follow-up of 14 years, 116 IBD patients and 353 reference individuals developed T1D. Patients with IBD had a higher hazard of developing T1D (aHR = 1.58 [95% CI = 1.27-1.95]). The hazard was increased in UC (aHR = 2.02 [1.51-2.70]) but not in CD or IBD-U. In the case-control study, a total of 1018 (1.2%) IBD patients and 3496 (0.8%) controls had been previously diagnosed with T1D. IBD patients had higher odds of having prior T1D (aOR = 1.36 [1.26-1.46]). Such positive association was observed in all IBD subtypes. The sibling comparison analyses showed similar associations between IBD and T1D (aHR = 1.44 [0.97-2.15] and aOR = 1.32 [1.18-1.49]). INTERPRETATION: Patients with IBD had a moderately increased hazard of developing T1D and higher odds of having prior T1D. Syftet med detta arbete är att undersöka, förstå och beskriva hur toddlare i förskolan kommunicerar och samspelar med varandra och med pedagogen i den ostrukturerade leken, samt vid vilka tillfällen dessa samspel tar sig uttryck. Forskare inom området uttrycker att forskning om de yngsta barnen i förskolan ökat under de senaste åren, men antyder att vidare forskning om yngre barns lek och samspel är av intresse. Denna kvalitativa videoobservationsstudie har en fenomenologisk ansats med utgångspunkt i Merleau-Pontys fenomenologiska filosofi. I videoobservationerna har sammanlagt 18 barn och fem pedagoger deltagit. Studien har genomförts på fyra olika förskoleavdelningar inom den kommunala verksamheten. I analysen av datamaterialet har Giorgis analysmetod samt multimodal interaktionsanalys använts. Resultatet visar att toddlare främst använder sig av kroppen för att kommunicera och samspela med andra barn och pedagoger, samt att de växlar mellan olika strategier för kommunikation. I resultatet utmärker sig en rad tillfällen i den ostrukturerade leken där samspel och kommunikation sker mellan deltagarna i studien. De centrala slutsatserna är att toddlare medvetet strävar efter att samspela och kommunicera med andra barn och pedagoger i förskolan, samt att deras inre tankar och känslor tar sig uttryck genom kroppslig kommunikation., Betyg i Laodk 230619.

Syfte: Den externa redovisningen har som syfte att förmedla en rättvisande bild av företagets ställning och riktar sig till företagets externa omgivning. Årsredovisningar visar inte endast företagens finansiella prestanda utan är även ett sätt att kommunicera med omgivningen. Det som publiceras i årsredovisningar styrs av olika regelverk. Förutom att redovisa det som är lagstadgat, kan företag även redovisa ytterligare information, vilket kallas för frivillig redovisning. Företag inom sjukvårdssektorn utstår ofta offentlig granskning, och genom frivillig redovisning kan de erhålla och bibehålla sin legitimitet. Syftet med denna studie är att studera sambandet mellan företagsspecifika egenskaper och mängden frivillig redovisning i svenska börsnoterade företag inom sjukvårdssektorn, samt vilken typ av information den frivilliga redovisningen består av. Studiens frågeställningar lyder: vilka faktorer påverkar mängden frivillig redovisning och vilken typ av frivillig information redovisas. Metod: Metoden som har tillämpats i denna studie är en kvantitativ metod. Det har först genomförts korrelationsanalyser mellan de oberoende variablerna, därefter har en multipel regressionsanalys genomförts mellan den beroende variabeln och respektive oberoende variabel. Insamling av data för de oberoende variablerna har skett via databasen Retriever och från Nasdaq Stockholm (Stockholmsbörsen). Insamling av data för den beroende variabeln har gjorts manuellt från varje företags årsredovisning från år 2021. Studiens urval består av 58 företag, från en population av 60 företag. Resultat och slutsats: Den slutsats som fastställs är att faktorerna lönsamhet, likviditet och ägarstruktur har ett samband med mängden frivillig redovisning. Av de olika områdena redovisas allmän information i genomsnitt mest, och aktierelaterad information i genomsnitt minst. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between company characteristics, and the extent of voluntary disclosure in listed companies within the Swedish healthcare sector and which type of information the voluntary disclosure consists of. The research questions formulated are: what are the determinants of voluntary disclosure, and what type of information is voluntarily disclosed. Method: The methodology used for this study is a quantitative method. Initially a correlation analysis was done, to determine the correlation between each independent variable. Thereafter a multiple regression analysis was implemented to determine the relationship between the dependent variable and each of the independent variables. The data for the independent variables was collected from the database Retriever and Nasdaq Stockholm (Stockholm Stock Exchange). The data for the independent variable was collected manually from annual reports for the fiscal year 2021. The sample size for this study is 58 listed companies, from a population of 60 companies. We investigated whether circulating odd-chain fatty acids (OCFA) 15:0 and 17:0, which are inversely associated with type 2 diabetes, interact with autoantibodies against GAD65 (GAD65Ab) on the incidence of adult-onset diabetes. Methods: We used the European EPIC-InterAct case–cohort study including 11,124 incident adult-onset diabetes cases and a subcohort of 14,866 randomly selected individuals. Adjusted Prentice-weighted Cox regression estimated HRs and 95% CIs of diabetes in relation to 1 SD lower plasma phospholipid 15:0 and/or 17:0 concentrations or their main contributor, dairy intake, among GAD65Ab-negative and -positive individuals. Interactions between tertiles of OCFA and GAD65Ab status were estimated by proportion attributable to interaction (AP). Results: Low concentrations of OCFA, particularly 17:0, were associated with a higher incidence of adult-onset diabetes in both GAD65Ab-negative (HR 1.55 [95% CI 1.48, 1.64]) and GAD65Ab-positive (HR 1.69 [95% CI 1.34, 2.13]) individuals. The combination of low 17:0 and high GAD65Ab positivity vs high 17:0 and GAD65Ab negativity conferred an HR of 7.51 (95% CI 4.83, 11.69), with evidence of additive interaction (AP 0.25 [95% CI 0.05, 0.45]). Low dairy intake was not associated with diabetes incidence in either GAD65Ab-negative (HR 0.98 [95% CI 0.94, 1.02]) or GAD65Ab-positive individuals (HR 0.97 [95% CI 0.79, 1.18]). Conclusions/interpretation: Low plasma phospholipid 17:0 concentrations may promote the progression from GAD65Ab positivity to adult-onset diabetes. Mjölkproduktionen är en viktig del av den svenska livsmedelsförsörjningen. För att mjölkgårdar ska bidra till en hållbar sådan krävs bland annat att de har ett gott smittskydd, god djurhälsa och en klimatanpassad produktion. Sedan en lång tid tillbaka pågår det en omfattande strukturomvandling inom svensk mjölkproduktion, där antalet mjölkkobesättningar har minskat kraftigt. Trenden går mot att de som kvarstår blir större, har fler djur och är mer specialiserade. Både forskning och rådgivning har länge varit inriktad på större och specialiserade mjölkkobesättningar, och det finns idag ett behov av forskning som fokuserar mer på de mindre besättningarna för att öka kunskapen om deras behov, utmaningar och möjligheter. En pilotstudie genomfördes med syfte att undersöka hållbarhet och robusthet i ett antal mindre mjölkkobesättningar med fokus på djurvälfärd, smitt-skydd och klimatanpassning. Studien syftade även till att ta reda på vilka hinder och möjligheter lantbrukarna själva identifierar för fortsatt produktion med mindre mjölkkobesättningar, samt att utvärdera metoder för djurvälfärds- och smittskyddsbedömningar och deras användbarhet i mindre besättningar. Urvalet begränsades till besättningar med maximalt 65 lakterande mjölkkor och med en kommersiell verksamhet där mjölken levererades till mejeri och/eller förädlades på egen hand för försäljning till konsument. I studien ingick kvalitativa semistrukturerade intervjuer, djurvälfärds-bedömningar baserade på Växas protokoll, ”Djuröga®”, samt smittskyddsbedömningar baserade på ett antal utvalda punkter från Växas frivilliga smittskyddsprogram ”Smittsäkrad besättning”. Djurvälfärdsbedömningarna visade generellt på god välfärd. Renhet var den bedömningspunkt som avvek mest där flera kor bedömdes som ”ej rena” enligt kriterierna. Det framkom att vid användning av denna typ av djurvälfärdsbedömningar i framtida studier i mindre besättningar kan de behöva anpassas något. Gällande smittskydd sågs en variation mellan gård, Dairy production is an important part of the Swedish food supply. To contribute to a sustainable one as such, it is required that dairy farms have good biosecurity, healthy animals and a climate-adapted production. For a long time, there has been a widespread structural change in the Swedish dairy sector, resulting in a vast reduction in the number of dairy herds. There is a trend showing that remaining dairy herds tend to be larger, have an increased number of cattle and are more specialized. Both research and advisory services have generally been focusing on larger and specialized dairy herds. Therefore, research focusing more on small-scale dairy herds is required to increase knowledge of their needs, challenges and opportunities. A pilot study was conducted, aiming to investigate the sustainability and robustness of small-scale Swedish dairy herds focusing on animal welfare, biosecurity and climate adaption. Another aim of the study was to map the farmers’ perceived challenges and opportunities for continuing small-scale dairy production in the future. Lastly, the study also aimed to evaluate methods for assessing animal welfare and biosecurity and their applicability in small dairy herds. Inclusion criteria were a maximum of 65 lactating dairy cows in the herd, and that milk from the farm either was delivered to a dairy and/or processed on the farm and sold to consumers. The study included qualitative semi-structured interviews, animal welfare assessments based on a protocol from Växa Sverige and biosecurity assessments based on selected parts from a voluntary preventive biosecurity program. The animal welfare assessments generally indicated good welfare. Cleanliness was the assessment point that deviated the most, where several cows were assessed as “not clean” according to the criteria. Kiruna är staden som genomgår en omdanande process, där delar av staden nedmonteras medan en ny stadskärna etableras. Kiruna kommun har haft som ambition att omlokaliseringen och stadsomvandlingen ska understödjas av omfattande medborgardialoger. Där utvecklingsstrategierna sägs bygga på kirunabornas önskemål kring vad de föreställer sig att nya stadskärnan kan bli. Stadens befolkning behöver därmed förhålla sig till att delar av deras stad nedmonteras samtidigt som de ska föreställa sig en ny. Vi analyserar processen för detta utifrån nutida planeringsteori som betonar att kunskapen som kommer från att uppleva en stad har ett särskilt värde i planeringen. Det innebär att planerare, med sin expertkunskap, behöver vidga sitt arbetssätt. Från att vara de enda som besitter kapaciteten till att föreställa sig en ny stad, till att kunna tolka och omformulera anspråk som kommer från stadsinvånare. Således fokuserar vi på hur planerare och politiker har arbetat med att behandla den lokala kunskapen, för att skapa en djupare förståelse för strategiskapande procedurer. Det som är säreget med Kiruna kan läsas utifrån två aspekter. Den ena är att nedmontering skapar en unik och känslig situation, där planerare försökt söka efter vad som kirunaborna anser som värdefullt i sin stad och sedan omformulera det till något nytt. The strategies for development are claimed to be based on the Kiruna residents’ wishes about what they imagine the new city center to be like. Therefore, the town’s population needs to relate to the dismantling of parts of their city, while also imagining a new one. The analysis of this process is based on contemporary planning theory, which emphasizes that the knowledge that comes from experiencing a city has a particular value in the context of urban planning. This means that planners, with their expert knowledge, need to extend their way of working from being the only ones who possess the capacity to imagine a new city to being able to interpret and reformulate claims that come from city residents. In this essay we examine how planners and politicians have worked to process the local knowledge, to create a deeper understanding of strategy making procedures. What is unique about Kiruna can be interpreted from two aspects. One is that the dismantling of the city creates a distinct and sensitive situation, where planners have attempted to understand what Kiruna´s residents consider valuable in their city and then reformulate it into something new. The other one is that Kiruna can be characterized as a city in the Arctic region. Throughout history, these communities have been planned on the basis of expert knowledge, and more often than not, urban models have been imported from the south for Arctic urban development. Syftet med studien är att analysera hur konsumenter upplever sinnesmarknadsföring i fysiska butiker inom modebranschen. Studien undersöker även hur de olika sinnena kan påverka konsumenternas köpintention. Då vi anser att sinnena syn, hörsel och känsel är mest relevanta för studien avgränsas studien till att undersöka endast de tre sinnena. Smaksinnet och luktsinnet utesluts alltså från studien. Tidigare har det forskats mycket om sinnesmarknadsföring ur företagsperspektiv och därför ville vi undersöka hur konsumenter ser på sinnesmarknadsföring i fysiska klädbutiker. Det är en kvantitativ studie med utgångspunkt i en abduktiv forskningsansats. En enkätundersökning användes som datainsamlingsmetod och den låg till grund för analysen och resultatet av studien. Based on previous research, three hypotheses were formed which were tested using chi-squared tests in SPSS from the results of the survey. The conclusions from the study are mainly that consumers experience the three senses used in the study, sight, sound and touch differently. Sight and touch were considered to contribute a lot to the experience and sound a little less in comparison with the others. The study also shows that consumers are affected by sensory marketing at the time of purchase. The study shows that the respondents are largely affected by the senses' sight and touch. Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka vad framställningar av hbtqi-personers rättigheter kan säga om Sveriges riksdagspartiers föreställningar om gruppen. Detta görs genom en multimodal legitimeringsanalys samt en kritisk diskursanalys av riksdagspartiernas webbplatssidor. Undersökningens resultat visar att HBTQ är den mest förekommande förkortningen bland partierna. Auktoritet är den vanligaste legitimeringsstrategin. De partier som visar hur de aktivt arbetar för hbtqi-rättigheter kan legitimera med auktoritet inom hbtqi-diskursen. Background and purpose: Inducible displacement CT compares 2 CTs acquired in series but with alternated rota-tion of the femur. This provides visual and quantitative clues as to the mechanical situation, i.e., loosening, of a total hip arthroplasty. We report the accuracy of this method as well as the experience of integrating it into a clinical workflow. Patients and methods: This was a retrospective single centre study of 72 cases of suspected aseptic loosening were the surgeon after reviewing a standard plain radiograph saw a need for more information. The displacement CT and plain radiograph were compared either to intraoperative findings or a 1-3 year follow up questionnaire for patients that did not have revision surgery. Patients reporting degradation in status since the time of the displacement CT were called for a follow up plain radiograph. Sensitivity and specificity were assessed, and user experience gathered. Results: Of 72 enrolled patients 15 were lost to follow-up. Of the remaining 57, 17 were judged by in-traoperative findings or follow-up to have had loose implants. For plain radiography the sensitivity and specificity were 59% (95% CI 35-82) and 85% (74-96). For displacement CT the cor-responding values were 77% (56-97), and 100% (100-100) respectively. The tool was adaptable to clinical routine. Conclusion: Displacement CT with alternated rota-tions of the femur is a viable option to improve the diag-nostic process for identifying aseptic loosening in a total hip arthroplasty.

Kiruna kommun har haft som ambition att omlokaliseringen och stadsomvandlingen ska understödjas av omfattande medborgardialoger. Där utvecklingsstrategierna sägs bygga på kirunabornas önskemål kring vad de föreställer sig att nya stadskärnan kan bli. Stadens befolkning behöver därmed förhålla sig till att delar av deras stad nedmonteras samtidigt som de ska föreställa sig en ny. Vi analyserar processen för detta utifrån nutida planeringsteori som betonar att kunskapen som kommer från att uppleva en stad har ett särskilt värde i planeringen. Det innebär att planerare, med sin expertkunskap, behöver vidga sitt arbetssätt. Från att vara de enda som besitter kapaciteten till att föreställa sig en ny stad, till att kunna tolka och omformulera anspråk som kommer från stadsinvånare. Således fokuserar vi på hur planerare och politiker har arbetat med att behandla den lokala kunskapen, för att skapa en djupare förståelse för strategiskapande procedurer. Development of cities, new buildings and other impervious surfaces entails increased stormwater flows, volumes and pollutant loads. Heavy metals, nutrients, sediments and salt are common pollutants in stormwater. The conventional way to manage stormwater, which is by discharge to the receiving water body via a sewage network, will not be sufficient for mitigating high flows, flood risks and pollution export. Thus, Low Impact Development (LID) stormwater facilities, such as stormwater biofilters, are built in an increasing rate in Sweden and worldwide. The main function of a stormwater biofilter is water quality treatment, which is achieved when stormwater percolates through a vegetated filter media. Sometimes a pre-treatment facility is installed before the biofilter to reduce the sediment load on the biofilter and extend its life-length. However, there are knowledge gaps regarding pollutant removal in biofilters and the role of associated pre-treatment facilities. In this study the impact of a pre-treatment facility, calcium carbonate as amendment in the filter media and vegetation was investigated regarding treatment of heavy metals (Cd (cadmium), Cu (copper), Pb (lead) and Zn (zinc)), phosphorus and total suspended solids. To do this, influent and effluent stormwater samples from an existing biofilter in Sundsvall were analysed and evaluated regarding removal performance of the above-mentioned pollutants. In general, the stormwater biofilter facility (including pre-treatment) removed total metals well while the removal of the dissolved fraction showed higher variations. Influent concentrations of TP were always higher than effluent concentrations. Leaching of phosphate repeatedly occurred from the filter sections. The mean removal of TSS was high (96.9%). CaCO3 as amendment in the filter material had a beneficial effect on the overall metal removal of the stormwater facility. I denna studie intervjuas fritidspedagoger och församlingspedagoger för att undersöka deras syn på och arbete med frågor kopplade till kristendom, samt hur de ser på en samverkan mellan fritidshem och Svenska kyrkan. Resultatet visar på att både fritidspedagoger och församlingspedagoger arbetar med att komplettera skolan genom praktisk undervisning. Bägge yrkesgrupperna arbetar även med en liknande värdegrund och att förmedla denna och traditioner som ett kulturarv till barnen. Kring samverkan framgår det att Svenska kyrkans pedagoger har viss spetskompetens som kan vara en resurs för skolan, men att det också finns negativa konsekvenser i samverkan som att vissa föräldrar riskerar att bli upprörda. Slutsatsen till detta är att det utifrån det liknande arbetssättet möjligen borde vara fritidshemmet som samverkar med Svenska kyrkan och inte klasslärarna, men att samverkan kritiseras vilket kan leda till att många undviker samverkan framöver. Kristendomen lever dock kvar i kulturarvet som förmedlas i skolan, även om lärarna själva inte är medvetna om att det är ett kristet kulturarv som lärs ut.

OBJECTIVE: Islet autoimmunity is associated with diabetes incidence. We investigated whether there was an interaction between dietary fish intake or plasma phospholipid n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) concentration with the 65-kDa isoform of GAD (GAD65) antibody positivity on the risk of developing adult-onset diabetes. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS: We used prospective data on 11,247 incident cases of adult-onset diabetes and 14,288 noncases from the EPIC-InterAct case-cohort study conducted in eight European countries. Baseline plasma samples were analyzed for GAD65 antibodies and phospholipid n-3 PUFAs. Adjusted hazard ratios (HRs) for incident diabetes in relation to GAD65 antibody status and tertiles of plasma phospholipid n-3 PUFA or fish intake were estimated using Prentice-weighted Cox regression. Additive (proportion attributable to interaction [AP]) and multiplicative interactions between GAD65 antibody positivity (≥65 units/mL) and low fish/n-3 PUFA were assessed. RESULTS: The hazard of diabetes in antibody-positive individuals with low intake of total and fatty fish, respectively, was significantly elevated (HR 2.52 [95% CI 1.76–3.63] and 2.48 [1.79–3.45]) compared with people who were GAD65 antibody negative and had high fish intake, with evidence of additive (AP 0.44 [95% CI 0.16–0.72] and 0.48 [0.24–0.72]) and multiplicative (P = 0.0465 and 0.0103) interactions. Individuals with high GAD65 antibody levels (≥167.5 units/mL) and low total plasma phospholipid n-3 PUFAs had a more than fourfold higher hazard of diabetes (HR 4.26 [2.70–6.72]) and an AP of 0.46 (0.12–0.80) compared with antibody-negative individuals with high n-3 PUFAs. CONCLUSIONS: High fish intake or relative plasma phospholipid n-3 PUFA concentrations may partially counteract the increased diabetes risk conferred by GAD65 antibody positivity.

RESULTS The hazard of diabetes in antibody-positive individuals with low intake of total and fatty fish, respectively, was significantly elevated (HR 2.52 [95% CI 1.76-3.63] and 2.48 [1.79-3.45]) compared with people who were GAD65 antibody negative and had high fish intake, with evidence of additive (AP 0.44 [95% CI 0.16-0.72] and 0.48 [0.24-0.72]) and multiplicative (P = 0.0465 and 0.0103) interactions. Individuals with high GAD65 antibody levels (>= 167.5 units/mL) and low total plasma phospholipid n-3 PUFAs had a more than fourfold higher hazard of diabetes (HR 4.26 [2.70-6.72]) and an AP of 0.46 (0.12-0.80) compared with antibody-negative individuals with high n-3 PUFAs. CONCLUSIONS High fish intake or relative plasma phospholipid n-3 PUFA concentrations may partially counteract the increased diabetes risk conferred by GAD65 antibody positivity.

I denna studie intervjuas fritidspedagoger och församlingspedagoger för att undersöka deras syn på och arbete med frågor kopplade till kristendom, samt hur de ser på en samverkan mellan fritidshem och Svenska kyrkan. Resultatet visar på att både fritidspedagoger och församlingspedagoger arbetar med att komplettera skolan genom praktisk undervisning. Bägge yrkesgrupperna arbetar även med en liknande värdegrund och att förmedla denna och traditioner som ett kulturarv till barnen. Kring samverkan framgår det att Svenska kyrkans pedagoger har viss spetskompetens som kan vara en resurs för skolan, men att det också finns negativa konsekvenser i samverkan som att vissa föräldrar riskerar att bli upprörda. Slutsatsen till detta är att det utifrån det liknande arbetssättet möjligen borde vara fritidshemmet som samverkar med Svenska kyrkan och inte klasslärarna, men att samverkan kritiseras vilket kan leda till att många undviker samverkan framöver. Kristendomen lever dock kvar i kulturarvet som förmedlas i skolan, även om lärarna själva inte är medvetna om att det är ett kristet kulturarv som lärs ut.

Purpose Physical activity (PA) has been linked to a reduced risk of type 2 diabetes by reducing weight and improving insulin sensitivity. We investigated whether PA is associated with a lower incidence of latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA) and whether the association is modified by genotypes of human leukocyte antigen (HLA), transcription factor 7-like 2 (TCF7L2)-rs7903146, or the fat mass and obesity-associated gene, FTO-rs9939609. Methods We combined data from a Swedish case-control study and a Norwegian prospective study including 621 incident cases of LADA and 3596 cases of type 2 diabetes. We estimated adjusted pooled relative risks (RRs) and 95% CI of diabetes in relation to high (≥ 30 minutes of moderate activity 3 times/week) self-reported leisure time PA, compared to sedentariness. Results High PA was associated with a reduced risk of LADA (RR 0.61; CI, 0.43-0.86), which was attenuated after adjustment for body mass index (BMI) (RR 0.90; CI, 0.63-1.29). The reduced risk applied only to noncarriers of HLA-DQB1 and -DRB1 (RR 0.49; CI, 0.33-0.72), TCF7L2 (RR 0.62; CI, 0.45-0.87), and FTO (RR 0.51; CI, 0.32-0.79) risk genotypes. Adjustment for BMI attenuated but did not eliminate these associations. For type 2 diabetes, there was an inverse association with PA (RR 0.49; CI, 0.42-0.56), irrespective of genotype. Main Conclusions Our findings indicate that high PA is associated with a reduced risk of LADA in individuals without genetic susceptibility.

Objective We conducted a nationwide case–control study in Sweden to test the hypothesis that antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) mono- or polytherapy, adherence, antidepressants, neuroleptics, β-blockers, and statins are associated with sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP) risk. Methods Included were 255 SUDEP cases and 1,148 matched controls. Information on clinical factors and medications came from medical records and the National Patient and Prescription Registers. The association between SUDEP and medications was assessed by odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) adjusted for potential risk factors including type of epilepsy, living conditions, comorbidity, and frequency of generalized tonic-clonic seizures (GTCS). Results Polytherapy, especially taking 3 or more AEDs, was associated with a substantially reduced risk of SUDEP (OR 0.31, 95% CI 0.14–0.67). Combinations including lamotrigine (OR 0.55, 95% CI 0.31–0.97), valproic acid (OR 0.53, 95% CI 0.29–0.98), and levetiracetam (OR 0.49, 95% CI 0.27–0.90) were associated with reduced risk. No specific AED was associated with increased risk. Regarding monotherapy, although numbers were limited, the lowest SUDEP risk was seen in users of levetiracetam (0.10, 95% CI 0.02–0.61). Having nonadherence mentioned in the medical record was associated with an OR of 2.75 (95% CI 1.58–4.78). Statin use was associated with a reduced SUDEP risk (OR 0.34, 95% CI 0.11–0.99) but selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor use was not. Conclusion These results provide support for the importance of medication adherence and intensified AED treatment for patients with poorly controlled GTCS in the effort to reduce SUDEP risk and suggest that comedication with statins may reduce risk.

PURPOSE: Sweetened beverage consumption is associated with type 2 diabetes (T2D) and LADA. We investigated to what extent this association is mediated by BMI and whether it is modified by genotypes of HLA, TCF7L2 rs7903146, or FTO rs9939609. METHODS: Swedish case-control data including incident cases of LADA (n = 386) and T2D (n = 1253) with matched population-based controls (n = 1545) was used. We estimated adjusted ORs of diabetes (95% CI) in relation to sweetened beverage intake (per daily 200 mL serving) and genotypes. The impact of BMI was estimated using causal mediation methodology. Associations with HOMA-IR and HOMA-B were explored through linear regression. RESULTS: Sweetened beverage intake was associated with increased risk of LADA (OR 1.15, 95% CI 1.03-1.29) and T2D (OR 1.21, 1.11-1.32). BMI was estimated to mediate 17% (LADA) and 56% (T2D) of the total risk. LADA was associated with risk variants of HLA (3.44, 2.63-4.50) and TCF7L2 (1.27, 1.00-1.61) but not FTO. Only among non-carriers of high-risk HLA genotypes was sweetened beverage intake associated with risk of LADA (OR 1.32, 1.06-1.56) and HOMA-IR (beta = 0.162, p = 0.0047). T2D was associated with TCF7L2 and FTO but not HLA, and the risk conferred by sweetened beverages appeared modified by FTO (OR 1.45, 95% CI 1.21-1.73 in non-carriers). CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggest that sweetened beverages are associated with LADA and T2D partly through mediation by excess weight, but possibly also through other mechanisms including adverse effects on insulin sensitivity. These effects seem more pronounced in individuals without genetic susceptibility.

PURPOSE: Red meat consumption is positively associated with type 1 (T1D) and type 2 (T2D) diabetes. We investigated if red meat consumption increases the risk of latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA) and T2D, and potential interaction with family history of diabetes (FHD), HLA and TCF7L2 genotypes. METHODS: Analyses were based on Swedish case-control data comprising incident cases of LADA (n = 465) and T2D (n = 1528) with matched, population-based controls (n = 1789; n = 1553 in genetic analyses). Multivariable-adjusted ORs in relation to self-reported processed and unprocessed red meat intake were estimated by conditional logistic regression models. Attributable proportion (AP) due to interaction was used to assess departure from additivity of effects. RESULTS: Consumption of processed red meat was associated with increased risk of LADA (per one servings/day OR 1.27, 95% CI 1.07-1.52), whereas no association was observed for unprocessed red meat. For T2D, there was no association with red meat intake once BMI was taken into account. The combination of high (> 0.3 servings/day vs. less) processed red meat intake and high-risk HLA-DQB1 and -DRB1 genotypes yielded OR 8.05 (95% CI 4.86-13.34) for LADA, with indications of significant interaction (AP 0.53, 95% CI 0.32-0.73). Results were similar for the combination of FHD-T1D and processed red meat. No interaction between processed red meat intake and FHD-T2D or risk variants of TCF7L2 was seen in relation to LADA or T2D. CONCLUSION: Consumption of processed but not unprocessed red meat may increase the risk of LADA, especially in individuals with FHD-T1D or high-risk HLA genotypes.

OBJECTIVE: We conducted a long-term follow-up of a cohort of children with newly diagnosed unprovoked seizures to assess treatment with antiepileptic drugs (AEDs), neuroleptics, antidepressants and medication for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) with special attention to the impact of comorbidities on the use of such medication. METHODS: Our study cohort comprised 769 children (28 days-18 years), living in Stockholm Sweden, with a first unprovoked seizure identified between 2001 and 2006. Information on neurodevelopmental comorbidities and Cerebral Palsy (CP) at seizure onset was collected from medical records. Information on treatment with AEDs, neuroleptics, antidepressants and ADHD medication was retrieved by linkage to the Swedish National Prescription Registry between 2005 and 2014. The association between comorbidities and drug treatments was assessed by odds ratios (OR) with 95 % confidence intervals (CI), adjusted for age and sex. RESULTS: Eight years after the index seizure, 31 % of the children were on AEDs, and this was more common among children with any of the comorbidities studied (OR; 4.0 95 % CI 2.9-5.6) compared to those without such comorbidities, and within this group of comorbidities particularly for those with CP (OR; 5.2 95 % CI: 2.9-9.3). Children with neurodevelopmental comorbidity or CP at baseline were more likely to receive neuroleptics (ORs 8 years after the index seizure; 6.9, 95 % CI: 2.4-19.8), antidepressants (OR; 2.3, 95 % CI: 1.0-5.5) and ADHD medication (OR; 3.6, 95 % CI: 1.8-7.2) than children without the studied comorbidities. CONCLUSION: Children with seizures in combination with neurodevelopmental comorbidities or CP, especially CP, have a more frequent use of AEDs, neuroleptics, antidepressants, and ADHD medication up to 13 years following the initial seizure than children without comorbidity. Our data highlight the treatment burden in children with epilepsy and comorbidities.

METHODS: The study included 255 SUDEP cases (definite and probable) and 1,148 matched controls. Clinical information was obtained from medical records and the National Patient Register. The association between SUDEP and potential risk factors was assessed by odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) and interaction assessed by attributable proportion due to interaction (AP). RESULTS: Experiencing generalized tonic-clonic seizures (GTCS) during the preceding year was associated with a 27-fold increased risk (OR 26.81, 95% CI 14.86-48.38), whereas no excess risk was seen in those with exclusively non-GTCS seizures (OR 1.15, 95% CI 0.54-48.38). The presence of nocturnal GTCS during the last year of observation was associated with a 15-fold risk (OR 15.31, 95% CI 9.57-24.47). Living alone was associated with a 5-fold increased risk of SUDEP (OR 5.01, 95% CI 2.93-8.57) and interaction analysis showed that the combination of not sharing a bedroom and having GTCS conferred an OR of 67.10 (95% CI 29.66-151.88), with AP estimated at 0.69 (CI 0.53-0.85). Among comorbid diseases, a previous diagnosis of substance abuse or alcohol dependence was associated with excess risk of SUDEP. CONCLUSIONS: Individuals with GTCS who sleep alone have a dramatically increased SUDEP risk. Our results indicate that 69% of SUDEP cases in patients who have GTCS and live alone could be prevented if the patients were not unattended at night or were free from GTCS.

Background and purpose: RSA is the gold standard for evaluation of early implant migration. We report the results of a new CT-based method Sectra CT micromotion analysis (CTMA) applied to assess the migration pattern in 20 patients in the 1st year after surgery, both with and without the use of tantalum beads in the bone. The patients had an SP-CL anatomical stem that uses an S-shape, designed to better fit the curvature of the femur. Patients and methods: 20 THA patients (mean age 61 years, 10 female) received SP-CL stems, tantalum markers in the femur, and low-dose CT scans at 1 day, 3 months and 12 months postoperatively. In addition, precision as well as inter- and intra-observer variability of the 12-month migration was measured. Results: The 3-month subsidence was median 0.5 mm (95% CI 0.3-1.0) and the internal rotation 1.8 degrees (CI 0.9-2.6). At 12 months the corresponding values were 0.6 (CI 0.3-1.6) mm and 1.9 degrees (CI 0.8-2.4). Precision was 0.1 to 0.3 mm and 0.1 degrees to 0.4 degrees at 3 and 12 months. Intra- and inter- observer variability yielded R-values averaging 0.96 and 0.98. Interpretation: The migration mainly took place during the 1st 3 months, in line with other uncemented stems. The number of patients with subsidence over 2 mm in the first year (5) might be due to the design of the prosthesis with an anatomical shape. Alternatively, our results might indicate a challenge when choosing the correct size for these new anatomical stems. CTMA provided precise and highly repeatable measurements of migration without the need for tantalum markers.

Information on neurodevelopmental comorbidities and Cerebral Palsy (CP) at seizure onset was collected from medical records. Information on treatment with AEDs, neuroleptics, antidepressants and ADHD medication was retrieved by linkage to the Swedish National Prescription Registry between 2005 and 2014. The association between comorbidities and drug treatments was assessed by odds ratios (OR) with 95 % confidence intervals (CI), adjusted for age and sex. RESULTS: Eight years after the index seizure, 31 % of the children were on AEDs, and this was more common among children with any of the comorbidities studied (OR; 4.0 95 % CI 2.9-5.6) compared to those without such comorbidities, and within this group of comorbidities particularly for those with CP (OR; 5.2 95 % CI: 2.9-9.3). Children with neurodevelopmental comorbidity or CP at baseline were more likely to receive neuroleptics (ORs 8 years after the index seizure; 6.9, 95 % CI: 2.4-19.8), antidepressants (OR; 2.3, 95 % CI: 1.0-5.5) and ADHD medication (OR; 3.6, 95 % CI: 1.8-7.2) than children without the studied comorbidities. CONCLUSION: Children with seizures in combination with neurodevelopmental comorbidities or CP, especially CP, have a more frequent use of AEDs, neuroleptics, antidepressants, and ADHD medication up to 13 years following the initial seizure than children without comorbidity. Our data highlight the treatment burden in children with epilepsy and comorbidities.

Purpose Physical activity (PA) has been linked to a reduced risk of type 2 diabetes by reducing weight and improving insulin sensitivity. We investigated whether PA is associated with a lower incidence of latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA) and whether the association is modified by genotypes of human leukocyte antigen (HLA), transcription factor 7-like 2 (TCF7L2)-rs7903146, or the fat mass and obesity-associated gene, FTO-rs9939609. Methods We combined data from a Swedish case-control study and a Norwegian prospective study including 621 incident cases of LADA and 3596 cases of type 2 diabetes. We estimated adjusted pooled relative risks (RRs) and 95% CI of diabetes in relation to high (≥ 30 minutes of moderate activity 3 times/week) self-reported leisure time PA, compared to sedentariness. Results High PA was associated with a reduced risk of LADA (RR 0.61; CI, 0.43-0.86), which was attenuated after adjustment for body mass index (BMI) (RR 0.90; CI, 0.63-1.29). The reduced risk applied only to noncarriers of HLA-DQB1 and -DRB1 (RR 0.49; CI, 0.33-0.72), TCF7L2 (RR 0.62; CI, 0.45-0.87), and FTO (RR 0.51; CI, 0.32-0.79) risk genotypes. Adjustment for BMI attenuated but did not eliminate these associations. For type 2 diabetes, there was an inverse association with PA (RR 0.49; CI, 0.42-0.56), irrespective of genotype. Main Conclusions Our findings indicate that high PA is associated with a reduced risk of LADA in individuals without genetic susceptibility.

OBJECTIVE: We conducted a nationwide case-control study in Sweden to test the hypothesis that specific clinical characteristics are associated with increased risk of sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP). METHODS: The study included 255 SUDEP cases (definite and probable) and 1,148 matched controls. Clinical information was obtained from medical records and the National Patient Register. The association between SUDEP and potential risk factors was assessed by odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) and interaction assessed by attributable proportion due to interaction (AP). RESULTS: Experiencing generalized tonic-clonic seizures (GTCS) during the preceding year was associated with a 27-fold increased risk (OR 26.81, 95% CI 14.86-48.38), whereas no excess risk was seen in those with exclusively non-GTCS seizures (OR 1.15, 95% CI 0.54-48.38). The presence of nocturnal GTCS during the last year of observation was associated with a 15-fold risk (OR 15.31, 95% CI 9.57-24.47). Living alone was associated with a 5-fold increased risk of SUDEP (OR 5.01, 95% CI 2.93-8.57) and interaction analysis showed that the combination of not sharing a bedroom and having GTCS conferred an OR of 67.10 (95% CI 29.66-151.88), with AP estimated at 0.69 (CI 0.53-0.85). Among comorbid diseases, a previous diagnosis of substance abuse or alcohol dependence was associated with excess risk of SUDEP. CONCLUSIONS: Individuals with GTCS who sleep alone have a dramatically increased SUDEP risk. Our results indicate that 69% of SUDEP cases in patients who have GTCS and live alone could be prevented if the patients were not unattended at night or were free from GTCS.

Background and purpose: RSA is the gold standard for evaluation of early implant migration. We report the results of a new CT-based method Sectra CT micromotion analysis (CTMA) applied to assess the migration pattern in 20 patients in the 1st year after surgery, both with and without the use of tantalum beads in the bone. The patients had an SP-CL anatomical stem that uses an S-shape, designed to better fit the curvature of the femur. Patients and methods: 20 THA patients (mean age 61 years, 10 female) received SP-CL stems, tantalum markers in the femur, and low-dose CT scans at 1 day, 3 months and 12 months postoperatively. In addition, precision as well as inter- and intra-observer variability of the 12-month migration was measured. Results: The 3-month subsidence was median 0.5 mm (95% CI 0.3-1.0) and the internal rotation 1.8 degrees (CI 0.9-2.6). At 12 months the corresponding values were 0.6 (CI 0.3-1.6) mm and 1.9 degrees (CI 0.8-2.4). Precision was 0.1 to 0.3 mm and 0.1 degrees to 0.4 degrees at 3 and 12 months. Intra- and inter- observer variability yielded R-values averaging 0.96 and 0.98. Interpretation: The migration mainly took place during the 1st 3 months, in line with other uncemented stems. The number of patients with subsidence over 2 mm in the first year (5) might be due to the design of the prosthesis with an anatomical shape. Alternatively, our results might indicate a challenge when choosing the correct size for these new anatomical stems. CTMA provided precise and highly repeatable measurements of migration without the need for tantalum markers.

The grain refinement of aluminium by titanium diboride particles, TiB2, using Ti/B grain refiners is common practice in the aluminium industry, but exactly how this grain refinement is achieved is uncertain. Current addition of grain refiner is therefore rarely optimal and excessive addition rates of grain refiner is common. This study investigates grain refinement of aluminium by titanium diboride to create a method and/or model which can be used to aid in addition rate optimisation. The effect of different parameters on grain refinement is the focus and includes cooling rate, properties of the nucleant particles, and growth restriction. A number of experiments using different test methods was applied to investigate this. The study reveals how the parameters investigated affect grain refinement, and how these can be used to optimises grain refiner addition rate. A model aiding in dealing with the varying abilities of nominally identical grain refiners to produce grains is introduced.The conclusion emphasizes the importance of optimising addition rates of grain refiners, for mechanical as well as environmental reasons, and how this can be achieved by changing the investigated parameters., Kornförfining av aluminium med titandiboridpartiklar, TiB2, genom användning av Ti/B kornförfinare är standard inom aluminiumindustrin. Det är dock inte helt utrett hur denna kornförfining går till. Rådande tillsatsmängder av kornförfinare är därför sällan optimala och alltför stora tillsatsmängder av kornförfinare är vanligt förkommande. Denna studie undersöker kornförfining av aluminium med titandiborid med målet att skapa en metod och/eller modell som kan användas för att underlätta optimering av tillsatsmängder. Fokus ligger på hur olika parametrar influerar kornförfiningen och inkluderar kylningshastighet, egenskaperna hos de kärnbildande partiklarna, och tillväxthämning. Experiment med olika testmetoder utfördes för att undersöka detta. Studien visar hur de undersökta parametrarna påverkar kornförfiningen och hur dessa kan användas till att optimera tillsatsmängden av kornförfinare. En modell användbar för att hantera de skillnader nominellt identiska kornförfinare uppvisar i sin förmåga att producera korn presenteras. Slutsatsen betonar vikten av att optimera tillsatsmängden av kornförfinare, både av materialmässiga och miljömässiga skäl, och hur detta kan uppnås genom ändringar i undersökta parametrar.

Background: 20% of the world's population is responsible for about 80% of the life-cycle impacts of consumption and the per-capita footprint of developed countries is at least double than that of developing countries. This is why there is an urgent need for companies in industrialized countries to find more sustainable production methods and encourage sustainable consumption. Global sustainability trends drive innovation, which is why it is important to study how companies use, and can use, innovation to be more sustainable. Despite the will to work sustainably innovative, many SMEs today face resource constraints that hinder them from doing so - a problem that in part can be mitigated by open innovation. In Sweden today, however, open innovation is not widely used, especially not amongst SMEs. Purpose: This study aims at mapping how Swedish SMEs currently work with open innovation in order to promote innovative sustainability initiatives, and how they could do it. Methodology: This is a qualitative multiple case study in which seven cases have been studied and compared. The study is based on the hermeneutic philosophical standpoint, with an abductive approach. The empirical data consists of seven semi-structured interviews with representatives from seven different Swedish SMEs, from different industrial sectors. Conclusion: This study concludes that Swedish SMEs mainly work with inbound open innovation in the form of sourcing information from customers and/or suppliers. It is also found that outbound open innovation is used to a lesser extent among the studied SMEs. The study proposes that more cross-sectoral collaboration can be beneficial. Furthermore, it is established that clearer methods for, and more knowledge about, open innovation could increase the use of it, and thus the benefits of it.
