This is an Accepted Manuscript, the final version can be found at: https://journals.aps.org/prc/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevC.108.064307 ©2024 American Physical Society., ß-delayed ¿-neutron spectroscopy has been performed on the decay of A = 84 to 87 gallium isotopes at the RI-beam Factory at the RIKEN Nishina Center using a high-efficiency array of 3He neutron counters (BRIKEN). ß-2n-¿ events were measured in the decays of all of the four isotopes for the first time, which is direct evidence for populating the excited states of two-neutron daughter nuclei. Detailed decay schemes with the ¿ branching ratios were obtained for these isotopes and the neutron emission probabilities (Pxn) were updated from the previous study. Hauser-Feshbach statistical model calculations were performed to understand the experimental branching ratios. We found that the P1n and P2n values are sensitive to the nuclear level densities of 1n daughter nuclei and showed that the statistical model reproduced the P2n/P1n ratio better when experimental levels + shell-model level densities fit by the Gilbert-Cameron formula were used as the level-density input. We also showed the neutron and ¿ branching ratios are sensitive to the ground-state spin of the parent nucleus. Our statistical model analysis suggested J = 3 for the unknown ground-state spin of the odd-odd nucleus, 86Ga, from the I¿(4+ ¿ 2 +)/I¿(2+ ¿ 0 +) ratio of 84Ga and the P2n/P1n ratio. These results show the necessity of detailed understanding of the decay scheme, including data from neutron spectroscopy, in addition to ¿ measurements of the multi-neutron emitters., This experiment was performed at the RI Beam Factory operated by RIKEN Nishina Center and CNS, University of Tokyo. Abstract

The very proton-rich 71Kr isotope was produced through the in-flight fragmentation of 78Kr on a beryllium target at RIKEN ¿ Nishina Center in order to study its ß-decay properties. A stack of double-sided silicon strip detectors, called WAS3ABi, was used as the decay station, where the detection of ion implants, ß-decays and ß-delayed protons took place. Beta-delayed ¿-rays were measured using a system of 84 HPGe detectors, called EURICA, surrounding the decay station. The main goal of the present study was the precise measurement of the half-life of 71Kr, as in the literature there is an almost 10 ¿ difference between the most precise independent results. Implant¿ß time correlations, implant¿proton time correlations and implant¿ß¿¿ time correlations were all used to derive the half-life value, followed by a thorough investigation of systematic uncertainties for each method. As these values were found to be consistent, the weighted average t1/2 = 94.40+19ms is reported as a new half-life value in this work. Furthermore a total of 26 previously unreported ¿ following the ß-decay of 71Kr were also identified in the analysis.

Abstract

Theoretical models of ß-delayed neutron emission are used as crucial inputs in r-process calculations. Benchmarking the predictions of these models is a challenge due to a lack of currently available experimental data. In this work the ß-delayed neutron emission probabilities of 33 nuclides in the important mass regions south and south-west of 132Sn are presented, 16 for the first time. The measurements were performed at RIKEN using the Advanced Implantation Detector Array (AIDA) and the BRIKEN neutron detector array. Abstract

The tetraneutron has attracted the attention of nuclear physicists during the past decades, but there is still no unambiguous confirmation of its existence or nonexistence. A new experiment based on 8 He(p,2p)7H{t+4n} reaction, with direct detection of the four neutrons, has been carried out at RIBF, which can hopefully help to draw a definite conclusion on the tetraneutron system.

Abstract

We report on the observation of a microsecond isomeric state in the single-proton-hole, three-neutron-particle nucleus In-134. The nuclei of interest were produced by in-flight fission of a U-238 beam at the Radioactive Isotope Beam Factory at RIKEN. The isomer depopulates through a gamma ray of energy 56.7(1) keV and with a half-life of T-1/2 = 3.5(4) mu s. Based on the comparison with shell-model calculations, we interpret the isomer as the I-pi = 5(-) member of the pi 0g(9/2)(-1) circle times nu 1f(7/2)(3) multiplet, decaying to the I-pi = 7(-) ground state with a reduced-transition probability of B(E2; 5(-) -> 7(-)) = 0.53(6) W.u. Observation of this isomer, and lack of evidence in the current work for a I-pi = 5(-) isomer decay in In-132, provides a benchmark of the proton-neutron interaction in the region of the nuclear chart >southeast> of Sn-132, where experimental information on excited states is sparse.

Abstract

We report on new or more precise half-lives, beta-decay endpoint energies, and beta-delayed proton emission branching ratios of(91) Pd, Cd-95,In-97, and Sn-99. The measured values are consistent with known mirror transitions in lighter T-z = -1/2 nuclei, shell-model calculations, and various mass models. In addition to the beta -decaying (9/2(+)) ground state, circumstantial evidence for a short-lived, proton-emitting isomer with spin (1 /2(-)) was found in(97)In. Based on the experimental data, a semiempirical theory on proton emission, and shell-model calculations, the proton separation energy of the In-97 ground state was determined to be -0.10 +/- 0.19 MeV. The existence of the short-lived, proton-unstable (1 /2(-)) isomer in In-97 establishes Cd-9S as an rp-process waiting point.
