- Abstract
This dissertation contributes to scholarship on theatricality and the Victorian novel. Through its examination of Charles Dickens’s Nicholas Nickleby, William Makepeace Thackeray’s Vanity Fair, and Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray, this dissertation unpacks how the Victorian novel negotiates and shapes understandings of the theatre and theatricality. Focusing on melodrama, theatrical performances, the theatre, actors, and acting and paying particular attention to the bodies of Victorian actors, this dissertation argues that theatricality and the theatre serve as sources of profound cultural anxiety and imminent danger in the Victorian novel. Nicholas Nickleby, Vanity Fair, and Dorian Gray are not just about theatre and theatricality; they are theatre. Dorian Gray is structured like a play about three theatrical and theatre-going Victorian men and the melodramatic actress who briefly comes in-between them. Vanity Fair is a puppet play about two women, one of whom is a brilliant actress. Nicholas Nickleby features the archetypes of Victorian stage melodrama, a handsome actor as its protagonist, and a touring troupe of eccentric actors. Published in the early, mid, and late Victorian period respectively, these novels capture what is terrifying and tantalizing about the theatre and theatricality. Noting the symbiotic relationship between the Victorian theatre and the novel as well as historical and theoretical definitions of theatricality and performance, this dissertation contributes to Victorian studies and draws from scholarship on the Victorian theatre. Chapter 1 scrutinizes the exploited performing bodies of male child actors in Nicholas Nickleby. Chapter 2 analyzes how theatricality and the sexualized, animalized body of the Victorian actress in Vanity Fair are transgressive. Chapter 3 explores the threatening materiality of the theatre and the precariousness of theatrical performance in Dorian Gray. Through close readings of the seasoned performer in Vani

- Abstract
Performance anxiety is a major issue for performing artists. This qualitative paper extends our recent mixed-methods collective case study showing the beneficial effects of psychological interventions for managing performance anxiety, tailored in individual coaching settings. Here, we report on participants’ experiences of being coached, their understanding of how and why the interventions were effective, and the researcher-coach's experiences. Ten performing artists received five individual coaching sessions and were interviewed about their experiences pre- and post-intervention. A qualitative synthesis of transcripts of sessions and interviews, and of the coach's field notes and journal entries, was conducted. Findings suggest that change mechanisms have to be understood in the context of participants’ enhanced self-awareness during coaching, and the process of co-creating solutions and building a coaching relationship through mutual understanding and appreciation. While disentangling mechanisms and effects may not always be possible, we discuss useful strategies in coaching performing artists to manage performance anxiety.

29. 'The Shadow of One’s Own Head' or The Spectacle of Creativity

- Abstract
When acting, the actor/actress experiences a complex regime of signs in his/her body, mind, mood and gender. These signs are both disturbing and promising. On the one hand, the act of creativity makes a wound obvious which has been incarnated within man. It tells him/her that he/she is not the sole actor of his/her actions. On the other hand, precisely this way acting on stage becomes an event. The act of this event reveals a way of be-coming in which one acts while at the same time being passive, in which the actor/actress is both agent and patient of his/her own performance. This complex artistic experience catapults actors/actresses into an open passage, into an in-between where they are liberated from the illusion of being the sole actors of their performances. One might even say that by this turn an actor/actress experiences a change, an “anthropological mutation” (Agamben). Or, to have it differently: the artist suffers a kind of “death of the subject”. It is remarkable that this loss of the predominance of subjectivity is a crucial aspect of acting which may affect the audience in a particularly intensive way. Why? Perhaps because it updates an extremely intimate connection between audience and actors/actresses which vicariously reflects the in-between of life and death. A passage by which life presents itself as itself? Life – by its plane of immanence?

- Abstract
The need to address environmental challenges through innovation-based transformative change has become more urgent than ever and the spatial dimension of pathways towards sustainability has attracted increasing scholarly interest. Over the last decade, research on environmentally oriented innovation has entered the geographical discourse from different directions. This paper starts with the premise that, among other contributions, two main directions of research can be identified within the current geographical discourse that do not yet interface much – a broad, yet conceptually more traditional debate on eco-innovation and a newer discourse around socio-technical transitions that adds a further perspective. Having justified this assumption by a short literature review, we perform a keyword-based literature search, which confirms that there are indeed two distinct bodies of literature and few studies to date that integrate features from both fields. Following this, an in-depth review of the sources clarifies the differences in perspective and the common object of analysis of the basic systemic elements of actors, institutions and technologies. While this juxtaposition illustrates why the two fields of research have hardly cross-fertilised each other so far, it also shows that they are in substance far from irreconcilable. On the contrary, the nuanced synthesis of research findings reveals numerous complementarities that constitute promising avenues for future geographical research. These are considered necessary to improve the understanding of the geography of innovation-based transitions towards sustainability.

- Abstract
There is an increase in sexually transmitted infections (STI), mainly gonorrhea among young people in Sweden. To reduce the incidence of STIs among adolescents, effective preventive measures, control and effective cooperation are required. Sexual and reproductive health is as important as mental, physical and social health, and makes a fundamental part of people's well-being and overall health. The aim of the study is to investigate actors' perception of adolescents' knowledge of STI-prevention and how they work preventively with STIs. For a systematic approach in the study, a qualitative method based on purposive sampling is used. Thus, a semi structured interview was carried out during the data collection with a total of six participants from professions in youth health clinics and school health services in two different regions. Then the collected data was analyzed with a manifest content analysis where two main categories; The actors aim to work with STI-prevention and Adolescents' knowledge of STIs and STI-prevention is not enough emerged. The results show that adolescents' knowledge of STIs varies according to the actors' perception, despite knowledge adolescents often underestimate the risk of contracting STIs. It also emerged that adolescents' knowledge of STI-prevention is affected by various risk factors, which hinders the effectiveness of protective factors. The actors aim to work with STI prevention in different arenas and have specific initiatives for different groups. However, a challenge in reaching out to more people has risen due to a lack of cooperation. Effective preventive efforts require a common guideline and strategies in the work of actors that create better conditions for young people around STIs.

- Abstract
Drug abuse is a social problem, and a large percentage of the Correctional Service's clients have a drug addiction. There is a connection between drug addiction and crime since many drug users commit crimes to support their addiction. Furthermore there is a high societal stigmatization of people with drug addiction. This study examines how organizations work with relapse prevention linked to drug abuse and the actors experiences and views on problems related to drug addiction. The aim is to investigate which elements in the treatment process can be developed and which elements are essential for relapse prevention. It also aims to examine the connection between crime, stigmatization, and drug abuse. The study uses a qualitative approach by conducting twelve semi-structured interviews with actors from different organizations working with relapse prevention. The results of the study show that an extended collaboration and communication between actors is an important part of the treatment process. Moreover it also highlights the importance of using different treatments since many drug users need combined treatments to meet the user's individual needs. Another finding is that treatment of addiction can reduce crime, but one aspect that can make it difficult to reach out to drug users is the stigma in society that creates guilt and shame. The finding suggests increased resources is necessary to improve the collaboration between organizations that work with relapse prevention for drug users., Narkotikamissbruk är ett socialt problem och en stor andel av Kriminalvårdens klienter har ett narkotikamissbruk.

37. Resource Density Enhancement : Unlocking the Economies of Actor Engagement

- Abstract
This study aims to better understand how actor engagement can be utilised to improve a firm’s resource density. To achieve this, we employed a qualitative approach through a single case study depicting how a small firm operating a Software-as-Service (SaaS) business model fosters actor engagement activities through its interactions with other actors in its service ecosystem. Our conceptual model, based on Storbacka et al.’s framework of the process of actor engagement (2016), has been adapted to show how engagement conditions impact observable behaviours, which in turn lead to resource density enhancement. Through this study, we wish to expand on past conceptualizations of resource density as an outcome of value co-creation, by exploring the concept of actor engagement, as a strategic tool for designing value offerings facilitated by multi-actor resource contributions. The findings in this paper reveal that actor engagement enables firms to improve their resource density through resource accessibility and compatibility, improving resource configuration capabilities. Furthermore, our findings point to engaging actors i.e., employees and users, and engagement platforms as the main aspects to consider for firms wishing to promote actor engagement as a way to enhance their resource density.

- Abstract
This study is about investigating how different actors in Region Värmland, who work in both the public sector and private business, work to develop the region's place brand. The purpose of the case study is examined in relation to sustainable development, typical challenges that arise in that work and how they work with the brand in relation to place development and the hospitality industry. In order to gain a deep and analytical understanding of the actors' perspectives and working methods, this case study has conducted nine interviews. Eight with actors from half of all municipalities in Värmland and one with the organization Visit Värmland. Academic literature and dissertations have been used as a theoretical basis to support qualitative information. The municipalities' information is the starting point for how public actors in Värmland work. While the interview with Visit Värmland serves as a larger starting point for how private actors work. The actors report interesting points in the survey, some work differently to develop Värmland's brand in relation to demand, commitment and potential. Most people work together or in the same way when it comes to sustainable development. Typical major challenges in their works are the same for both public and private. The results of the study have helped to report how public and private actors work in Värmland to develop the region's place brand, as well as what distinguishes the municipalities' work and what parts of the work they prioritize in comparison to others. The study has also concluded how the work and typical challenges differ between private and public actors as an interesting comparison in working methods. The actors also actively collaborate with each other within various projects and works to achieve the best possible results. Together with the fact that a strong communication network has been established between the actors in the business world around Värmland.

- Abstract
The text provides two proposals: institutional cosmopolitanism and the cosmopolitanism of responsibility. The former, as the term suggests, relies on legal and political institutions to be maintained, but these institutions need to be restructured to meet the new demands of contemporary society. The cosmopolitanism of responsibility highlights the importance of effectively building duties and spaces for accountability for all national and international actors. As a result, proposals such as due diligence in the context of climate disasters or even structural violations of human rights are envisioned. Furthermore, the concept of accountability aligns with scholars of decolonial theories, in which racial and religious conflicts pose significant challenges to critical cosmopolitanism. The central issue is to discover whether cosmopolitanism – united by neologisms that emerge to expand the linguistic field toward new concepts for new realities – can find alternatives to the lack of effectiveness of human rights and duties at the national and international levels. The method used was phenomenological hermeneutics because there is no interpretation without understanding., El texto ofrece dos propuestas: el cosmopolitismo institucional y el cosmopolitismo de la responsabilidad.

- Abstract
This paper reconsiders the roles of actors in regional innovation systems in the context of transformative industrial change. Empirically, it draws on evidence from the Värmland region of Sweden, where regional innovation system actors, with partial funding from the Swedish Innovation Agency, are striving to build a bioeconomy upon the traditional forest-related industries. The main findings include that transformative industrial change adds a variety of responsibilities to regional actors, including the provision of change legitimacy, influencing the industry’s innovation directionality and achieving social acceptance for change. A combined perspective on sociotechnical transitions and path development in regional innovation systems theoretically informs the case.

43. Reading Strange Matters: The Magic Word in Early Modern English Drama

- Abstract
Reading Strange Matters explains both the literal and proverbial ‘magic’ of stage acting during the English Renaissance. Inspired by numerous descriptions of an actor’s work as ‘charming’ as well as ‘bewitching’, it investigates the practice of acting as it is described in both antitheatricalist critiques and poetic defences. Using both the early modern science of emotions and the nature of sympathetic magic as frameworks, it produces a ‘physics’ of theatrical power as conceived at the time. Narrowing focus to an actual actor’s body on stage, the focus then moves through the classical rhetorical trivium of voice, gesture, and countenance, gradually mapping these terms of mimetic art onto the domains of magic and alchemy. Following key conceptual metaphors like ‘attention is a grip’, ‘art is a mirror’, and ‘knowledge is prey’, it identifies a violent epistemology that informs dominant assumptions about how human passions can be performed and influenced on the early modern stage. This thesis does not maintain a narrow chronological focus in the play texts it incorporates (e.g. ‘Jacobean’), preferring to track the broad applicability of the above conceptual trends across a range of play texts spanning the proliferation of London public theatres from the 1570s to the 1640s. Examples of linguistic metaphors that echo the conceptual metaphors listed above are cross-referenced against contemporary lexicons, glossaries, and hard-word books, as well as larger-scale samplings of word usages in context. This combination permits both a holistic and specific view of how linguistic metaphors play with conceptual metaphors, often in characteristically self-referential Renaissance English fashion. Important tools to this project include the Lexicons of Early Modern English (edited by Ian Lancashire) and the English-Corpora front-end query tool for the Early English Books Online Text Creation Partnership (EEBO-TCP). The thesis concludes that this violent epistemology that presents k

- Abstract
Background: Today most companies strive to offer logistics services in a highly competitive market. In the ecommerce sector a WMS is a crucial element since these systems can handle different amounts of volumes. Implementing such a system can contribute positively to the value creation. By focusing more on value co-creation rather than the value exchanged, companies can create more effective supply chains that benefit all actors involved. Purpose: The study’s purpose is conducted in partnership with Extenda Retail. The aim is to explore the implementation of a warehouse management system (WMS) from a value co-creation perspective. Based on the purpose two research questions have been formulated: What are the challenges associated with implementing a WMS? Which resources enrich value co-creation in the process of a WMS implementation according to a company's perspective? Method: The study is of a case study with Extenda Retail, and the method of data collection was semi-structured interviews, and document analysis. Results and Analysis: Value co-creation has always been a theory of discussion, with many actors and resources involved. The results emphasized knowledge, skills, customer involvement, user training and testing are factors that both contribute and challenge the value co-creation process. Conclusion: The findings show that applying a value co-creation lens has a significant role in effective warehouse management. Where resources from both company and customers are vital for the success of value co-creation. For example customer involvement, as in feedback, and request. Along with knowledge, and skills to manage a WMS, in the form of user training will ensure that the value of the product may be realized. The challenges identified for the study are as follows, balancing cost and quality, unmotivated customers, misinformation, changes and additions made to the scope. Future research: As our study is mainly focused from a company perspective, we suggest invest

- Abstract
The purpose of the study is to examine how the crowdfunding context facilitates value co-creation from a service-dominant logic perspective. Previous studies on crowdfunding have focused on crowdfunding as a way to raise capital, but there is a need to examine how value is created from a service-dominant logic perspective to understand the crowdfunding context. This has been examined through an embedded case study on the Swedish crowdfunding market, consisting of three crowdfunded companies and two branch experts. The study finds that the crowdfunding context facilitates value co-creation by engaging the involved actors in value co-creating activities, where both actors benefit. Community creation was found to be vital for the crowdfunding context while being important in the value co-creation process. The study contributes to the crowdfunding literature by adding an understanding of how the crowdfunding context facilitates value co-creation, by applying a service-dominant logic perspective, showing how the crowdfunding context includes more than financial aspects. The study also contributes to the service-dominant logic discussion by enabling future research in a new empirical setting. Finally, from a managerial point of view, the study contributes to how crowdfunding has additional benefits beyond raising capital, such as how the actors can co-create value.
