1. Gimnasia Rítmica en Chile: Los primeros varones

Abstract: Rhythmic Gymnastics is a sport that has historically been considered "feminine". However, since 2016 in Chile, men have joined the sport competitively and recreationally. The aim of this research is analyse the insertion of the first men in this sport in Chile. For this purpose, the historical context of Rhythmic Gymnastics in Chile is described, the channels of competition are explained and the experiences of the male gymnasts are described. All this with the purpose of recording this important milestone in the history of Rhythmic Gymnastics in Chile. This research is based on a collective case study, using biographical-narrative approach and semi-structured interviews. The information is analysed in three main dimensions: barriers - facilitators, beginnings and motivation. It is concluded that the interviewed gymnasts have had difficulties to enter a club, but they had good experiences once they managed to get in. There is evidence of a gender bias on the part of their peers and family members. Finally, these gymnasts yearn for a more active participation of men in the discipline, although they recognise that there is still a lot of work to be done to achieve this due to the social context that the country is currently experiencing., La Gimnasia Rítmica, deporte históricamente considerado de carácter “femenino”. Sin embargo, en Chile, desde el año 2016, se han incorporado varones, tanto en el ámbito competitivo como recreativo. El objetivo de la presente investigación es analizar la inserción de los primeros varones en este deporte en Chile. Para ello, se describe el contexto histórico de la Gimnasia Rítmica en el país, los canales de competencia y las vivencias de los gimnastas. Esto, con el propósito de registrar, un hito importante en la historia de la Gimnasia Rítmica en Chile. La presente investigación se basa en un estudio de caso colectivo, utilizando aproximación biográfica – narrativa y entrevistas semiestructuradas. Se analiza la información en tres grandes dimensiones: barreras - facilitadores, inicios y motivaciones. Se concluye que los deportistas entrevistados han tenido dificultades para entrar a un club, pero, una vez dentro, siempre tuvieron buenas experiencias. Se evidencia un sesgo de género por parte de sus pares y familiares. Finalmente, estos gimnastas anhelan una participación más activa de varones en la disciplina, sin embargo, debido al contexto social que vive el país actualmente, reconocen que falta mucho trabajo para lograrlo.

2. Drama i svenskämnet : En systematisk litteraturstudie om drama som undervisningsmetod

Abstract: Denna litteraturstudie behandlar drama som undervisningsmetod i relation till läsförståelse och ordförståelse. Tidigare forskning visar att läsförståelsen sjunker bland svenska elever, att läsningen av fack- och skönlitteratur bland ungdomar i grundskolan minskar samt att området drama som metod behöver mer forskning. Syftet med undersökningen är att skapa en överblick över vad forskningen visar gällande drama som undervisningsmetod inom svenskämnet, med särskild inriktning mot hur drama kan utveckla läsförståelse och ordförståelse. Frågeställningarna som används för att uppfylla syftet är: Vilka är de främsta syftena lärare har med användningen av drama i undervisningen? Hur kan dramaprocessen påverka läsförståelse och ordförståelse? Resultaten visar bland annat att de mest uttalade syftena med lärarnas användning av drama i undervisningen är att stärka empati, ge nya perspektiv samt att skapa trygghet i klassen. Resultaten visar också att drama verkar fördjupa språkutveckling som exempelvis läsförståelse. Slutsatser som dras i denna litteraturstudie är att drama verkar kunna fungera som ett komplement i svenskundervisning för att exempelvis skapa engagemang i och fördjupa läsförståelsearbetet och att det behövs mer forskning kring drama som metod i svenskämnet för att tydliggöra för- och nackdelar.

Abstract: We present recent highlights from the most recent operation phases of Wendelstein 7-X, the most advanced stellarator in the world. Stable detachment with good particle exhaust, low impurity content, and energy confinement times exceeding 100 ms, have been maintained for tens of seconds. Pellet fueling allows for plasma phases with reduced ion-temperature-gradient turbulence, and during such phases, the overall confinement is so good (energy confinement times often exceeding 200 ms) that the attained density and temperature profiles would not have been possible in less optimized devices, since they would have had neoclassical transport losses exceeding the heating applied in W7-X. This provides proof that the reduction of neoclassical transport through magnetic field optimization is successful. W7-X plasmas generally show good impurity screening and high plasma purity, but there is evidence of longer impurity confinement times during turbulence-suppressed phases.

Abstract: We present recent highlights from the most recent operation phases of Wendelstein 7-X, the most advanced stellarator in the world. Stable detachment with good particle exhaust, low impurity content, and energy confinement times exceeding 100 ms, have been maintained for tens of seconds. Pellet fueling allows for plasma phases with reduced ion-temperature-gradient turbulence, and during such phases, the overall confinement is so good (energy confinement times often exceeding 200 ms) that the attained density and temperature profiles would not have been possible in less optimized devices, since they would have had neoclassical transport losses exceeding the heating applied in W7-X. This provides proof that the reduction of neoclassical transport through magnetic field optimization is successful. W7-X plasmas generally show good impurity screening and high plasma purity, but there is evidence of longer impurity confinement times during turbulence-suppressed phases.

Abstract: This review focuses on the recognition of volcanic ash occurrences in marine sediment cores and on using their appearance and properties to deduce their origin. Widespread marine tephra layers are important marker horizons for both volcanological as well as general geological investigations. We describe ash detection by visual inspection and logging of sediment cores. Ash layer structure and texture, particle morphologies and lithological compositions of primary volcanic deposits are summarized and processes modifying them are discussed, both natural processes acting on and in the seafloor, i.e. erosion and bioturbation, and anthropogenic modifications during drilling/coring and core preparation. We discuss primary emplacement processes of marine fall and flow tephra deposits derived from either subaerial or submarine sources in order to identify distinguishing properties. We also elaborate on processes generating secondary, resedimented volcaniclastic layers such as submarine landslides and shelf erosion as well as fluvial input and ice-rafting, and how they can be distinguished from primary volcaniclastic deposits, which is essential in tephrostratigraphy. Finally, methods of tephra correlation between cores and on-land deposits/volcanoes are illustrated because they allow us to extend the 1D information from single cores to 3D distribution and facies changes of tephras and to bridge the land–sea gap.

9. Emplacement history of volcaniclastic turbidites around the central Azores volcanic islands: Frequencies of slope landslides and eruptions

Abstract: Volcanic islands export clastic material to their surrounding oceans by explosive eruptions, lava emissions, biogenic production on their shelves, and failure of their slopes, amongst other processes. This raises the question of whether geological events (in particular, eruptions and landslides) can be detected offshore and dated, and whether any relationships (for example, with climate changes) can be revealed using sediment cores. The volcanically active central Azorean islands (Faial, Pico, São Jorge, and Terceira), with their neighboring submarine basins, are potentially good candidates for such an analysis. Here, chronostratigraphies of four gravity cores collected amongst the islands are constructed based on twelve radiocarbon dates and two dates derived by geochemically correlating primary volcaniclastic turbidites with ignimbrites on Faial and Terceira Islands. Age-depth models are built from the hemipelagic intervals to estimate individual turbidite dates. Volumes of turbidites are modeled by multiplying basin areas with bed thickness, allowing for various turbidite thinning rates and directions. The volumes of landslide-generated turbidites are only comparable with the largest volumes of their adjacent upper-slope submarine landslide valleys; therefore, such turbidites in the cores likely derive from these largest landslides. Emplacement intervals between turbidites originating from both landslides and pyroclastic density currents are found to be mostly a few thousand years. Frequencies of landslide-generated turbidites and hemipelagic sedimentation rates were both highest in the past 8 k.y. compared to preceding periods up to 50 k.y. High hemipelagic sedimentation rates are interpreted to be related to sea-level rise, allowing more shelf bioproduction and release of particles by coastal erosion. Abstract: Geological histories of volcanic ocean islands can be revealed by the sediments shed by them. Hence there is an interest in studying cores of volcaniclastic sediments that are particularly preserved in the many flat-floored basins lying close to the Azores islands. We analyse four gravity cores collected around the central group of the islands. Three sedimentary facies (F1-F2a, F2b) are recognized based on visual core logging, particle morphometric and geochemical analyses. F1 is clay-rich hemipelagite comprising homogeneous mud with mottled structures from bioturbation. F2a and F2b are both clay-poor volcaniclastic deposits, which are carbonate-rich and carbonate-poor, respectively. More biogenic carbonate in F2a reflects the incorporation of unconsolidated calcareous material from island shelves or bioturbation. Within F2a and F2b we identify deposits emplaced by pyroclastic fallout, primary or secondary turbidity currents by combining multiple information from lithological composition, sedimentary structures, chemical composition of volcanic glass shards and morphometric characteristics of volcanic particles. Primary volcaniclastic sediments were found in all four cores, echoing activity known to have occurred up to historical times on the adjacent islands. These preliminary results suggest that greater details of geological events could be inferred for other volcanic islands by adopting a similar approach to core analysis.

Abstract: We present cosmological constraints from a gravitational lensing mass map covering 9400 sq. deg. reconstructed from CMB measurements made by the Atacama Cosmology Telescope (ACT) from 2017 to 2021. In combination with BAO measurements (from SDSS and 6dF), we obtain the amplitude of matter fluctuations $\sigma_8 = 0.819 \pm 0.015$ at 1.8% precision, $S_8\equiv\sigma_8({\Omega_{\rm m}}/0.3)^{0.5}=0.840\pm0.028$ and the Hubble constant $H_0= (68.3 \pm 1.1)\, \text{km}\,\text{s}^{-1}\,\text{Mpc}^{-1}$ at 1.6% precision. A joint constraint with CMB lensing measured by the Planck satellite yields even more precise values: $\sigma_8 = 0.812 \pm 0.013$, $S_8\equiv\sigma_8({\Omega_{\rm m}}/0.3)^{0.5}=0.831\pm0.023$ and $H_0= (68.1 \pm 1.0)\, \text{km}\,\text{s}^{-1}\,\text{Mpc}^{-1}$. These measurements agree well with $\Lambda$CDM-model extrapolations from the CMB anisotropies measured by Planck. To compare these constraints to those from the KiDS, DES, and HSC galaxy surveys, we revisit those data sets with a uniform set of assumptions, and find $S_8$ from all three surveys are lower than that from ACT+Planck lensing by varying levels ranging from 1.7-2.1$\sigma$. These results motivate further measurements and comparison, not just between the CMB anisotropies and galaxy lensing, but also between CMB lensing probing $z\sim 0.5-5$ on mostly-linear scales and galaxy lensing at $z\sim 0.5$ on smaller scales. We combine our CMB lensing measurements with CMB anisotropies to constrain extensions of $\Lambda$CDM, limiting the sum of the neutrino masses to $\sum m_{\nu} < 0.12$ eV (95% c.l.), for example. Our results provide independent confirmation that the universe is spatially flat, conforms with general relativity, and is described remarkably well by the $\Lambda$CDM model, while paving a promising path for neutrino physics with gravitational lensing from upcoming ground-based CMB surveys., Comment: 30 pages, 16 figures, prepared for submission to ApJ. Abstract: Observations of the millimeter sky contain valuable information on a number of signals, including the blackbody cosmic microwave background (CMB), Galactic emissions, and the Compton-$y$ distortion due to the thermal Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (tSZ) effect. Extracting new insight into cosmological and astrophysical questions often requires combining multi-wavelength observations to spectrally isolate one component. In this work, we present a new arcminute-resolution Compton-$y$ map, which traces out the line-of-sight-integrated electron pressure, as well as maps of the CMB in intensity and E-mode polarization, across a third of the sky (around 13,000 sq.~deg.). We produce these through a joint analysis of data from the Atacama Cosmology Telescope (ACT) Data Release 4 and 6 at frequencies of roughly 93, 148, and 225 GHz, together with data from the \textit{Planck} satellite at frequencies between 30 GHz and 545 GHz. We present detailed verification of an internal linear combination pipeline implemented in a needlet frame that allows us to efficiently suppress Galactic contamination and account for spatial variations in the ACT instrument noise. These maps provide a significant advance, in noise levels and resolution, over the existing \textit{Planck} component-separated maps and will enable a host of science goals including studies of cluster and galaxy astrophysics, inferences of the cosmic velocity field, primordial non-Gaussianity searches, and gravitational lensing reconstruction of the CMB., Comment: The Compton-y map and associated products will be made publicly available upon publication of the paper. Abstract: We present new measurements of cosmic microwave background (CMB) lensing over $9400$ sq. deg. of the sky. These lensing measurements are derived from the Atacama Cosmology Telescope (ACT) Data Release 6 (DR6) CMB dataset, which consists of five seasons of ACT CMB temperature and polarization observations. We determine the amplitude of the CMB lensing power spectrum at $2.3\%$ precision ($43\sigma$ significance) using a novel pipeline that minimizes sensitivity to foregrounds and to noise properties. To ensure our results are robust, we analyze an extensive set of null tests, consistency tests, and systematic error estimates and employ a blinded analysis framework. The baseline spectrum is well fit by a lensing amplitude of $A_{\mathrm{lens}}=1.013\pm0.023$ relative to the Planck 2018 CMB power spectra best-fit $\Lambda$CDM model and $A_{\mathrm{lens}}=1.005\pm0.023$ relative to the $\text{ACT DR4} + \text{WMAP}$ best-fit model. From our lensing power spectrum measurement, we derive constraints on the parameter combination $S^{\mathrm{CMBL}}_8 \equiv \sigma_8 \left({\Omega_m}/{0.3}\right)^{0.25}$ of $S^{\mathrm{CMBL}}_8= 0.818\pm0.022$ from ACT DR6 CMB lensing alone and $S^{\mathrm{CMBL}}_8= 0.813\pm0.018$ when combining ACT DR6 and Planck NPIPE CMB lensing power spectra. These results are in excellent agreement with $\Lambda$CDM model constraints from Planck or $\text{ACT DR4} + \text{WMAP}$ CMB power spectrum measurements. Our lensing measurements from redshifts $z\sim0.5$--$5$ are thus fully consistent with $\Lambda$CDM structure growth predictions based on CMB anisotropies probing primarily $z\sim1100$. We find no evidence for a suppression of the amplitude of cosmic structure at low redshifts, Comment: 45+21 pages, 50 figures. Prepared for submission to ApJ. Abstract: We present cosmological constraints from a gravitational lensing mass map covering 9400 sq. deg. reconstructed from CMB measurements made by the Atacama Cosmology Telescope (ACT) from 2017 to 2021. In combination with BAO measurements (from SDSS and 6dF), we obtain the amplitude of matter fluctuations $\sigma_8 = 0.819 \pm 0.015$ at 1.8% precision, $S_8\equiv\sigma_8({\Omega_{\rm m}}/0.3)^{0.5}=0.840\pm0.028$ and the Hubble constant $H_0= (68.3 \pm 1.1)\, \text{km}\,\text{s}^{-1}\,\text{Mpc}^{-1}$ at 1.6% precision. A joint constraint with CMB lensing measured by the Planck satellite yields even more precise values: $\sigma_8 = 0.812 \pm 0.013$, $S_8\equiv\sigma_8({\Omega_{\rm m}}/0.3)^{0.5}=0.831\pm0.023$ and $H_0= (68.1 \pm 1.0)\, \text{km}\,\text{s}^{-1}\,\text{Mpc}^{-1}$. These measurements agree well with $\Lambda$CDM-model extrapolations from the CMB anisotropies measured by Planck. To compare these constraints to those from the KiDS, DES, and HSC galaxy surveys, we revisit those data sets with a uniform set of assumptions, and find $S_8$ from all three surveys are lower than that from ACT+Planck lensing by varying levels ranging from 1.7-2.1$\sigma$. These results motivate further measurements and comparison, not just between the CMB anisotropies and galaxy lensing, but also between CMB lensing probing $z\sim 0.5-5$ on mostly-linear scales and galaxy lensing at $z\sim 0.5$ on smaller scales. We combine our CMB lensing measurements with CMB anisotropies to constrain extensions of $\Lambda$CDM, limiting the sum of the neutrino masses to $\sum m_{\nu} < 0.12$ eV (95% c.l.), for example. Abstract: An international, multidisciplinary research group is proposing the “NICA-BRIDGE” drilling project, within the framework of the International Continental Scientific Drilling Program (ICDP). The project goal is to conduct scientific drilling in Lake Nicaragua and Lake Managua (Nicaragua, Central America) to obtain long lacustrine sediment records to (a) extend the neotropical paleoclimate record back to the Pliocene, making it one of the longest continental tropical climate archives in the world, and to (b) provide geological data on the long-term complex interplay among tectonics, volcanism, sea-level dynamics, climate change, and biosphere. The lakes are the two largest in Central America, and they are located in a trench-parallel half graben that hosts the volcanic front, which developed during or prior to the Pliocene, as a consequence of subduction-related tectonic activity. The lakes are uniquely suited for multidisciplinary scientific investigation as their long, con- tinuous sediment records (several Myr) will facilitate the study of (1) terrestrial and marine basin development at the southern Central American margin, (2) alternating lacustrine and marine environments in response to tec- tonic and climatic changes, (3) the longest record of tropical climate proxies, (4) the evolution of (and transition between) the Miocene to Pliocene/Pleistocene and Pleistocene to present volcanic arcs, which were separated by slab rollback, (5) the significance of the lakes as hot spots for endemism, and (6) the Great American Biotic Interchange at this strategic location, i.e., the N–S and reverse migration of fauna after the land bridge between the Americas was established. Here, chronostratigraphies of four gravity cores collected amongst the islands are constructed based on twelve radiocarbon dates and two dates derived by geochemically correlating primary volcaniclastic turbidites with ignimbrites on Faial and Terceira Islands. Age-depth models are built from the hemipelagic intervals to estimate individual turbidite dates. Volumes of turbidites are modeled by multiplying basin areas with bed thickness, allowing for various turbidite thinning rates and directions. The volumes of landslide-generated turbidites are only comparable with the largest volumes of their adjacent upper-slope submarine landslide valleys; therefore, such turbidites in the cores likely derive from these largest landslides. Emplacement intervals between turbidites originating from both landslides and pyroclastic density currents are found to be mostly a few thousand years. Frequencies of landslide-generated turbidites and hemipelagic sedimentation rates were both highest in the past 8 k.y. compared to preceding periods up to 50 k.y. Abstract: This review focuses on the recognition of volcanic ash occurrences in marine sediment cores and on using their appearance and properties to deduce their origin. Widespread marine tephra layers are important marker horizons for both volcanological as well as general geological investigations. We describe ash detection by visual inspection and logging of sediment cores. Ash layer structure and texture, particle morphologies and lithological compositions of primary volcanic deposits are summarized and processes modifying them are discussed, both natural processes acting on and in the seafloor, i.e. erosion and bioturbation, and anthropogenic modifications during drilling/coring and core preparation. We discuss primary emplacement processes of marine fall and flow tephra deposits derived from either subaerial or submarine sources in order to identify distinguishing properties. We also elaborate on processes generating secondary, resedimented volcaniclastic layers such as submarine landslides and shelf erosion as well as fluvial input and ice-rafting, and how they can be distinguished from primary volcaniclastic deposits, which is essential in tephrostratigraphy. Finally, methods of tephra correlation between cores and on-land deposits/volcanoes are illustrated because they allow us to extend the 1D information from single cores to 3D distribution and facies changes of tephras and to bridge the land–sea gap.

Hence there is an interest in studying cores of volcaniclastic sediments that are particularly preserved in the many flat-floored basins lying close to the Azores islands. We analyse four gravity cores collected around the central group of the islands. Three sedimentary facies (F1-F2a, F2b) are recognized based on visual core logging, particle morphometric and geochemical analyses. F1 is clay-rich hemipelagite comprising homogeneous mud with mottled structures from bioturbation. F2a and F2b are both clay-poor volcaniclastic deposits, which are carbonate-rich and carbonate-poor, respectively. More biogenic carbonate in F2a reflects the incorporation of unconsolidated calcareous material from island shelves or bioturbation. Within F2a and F2b we identify deposits emplaced by pyroclastic fallout, primary or secondary turbidity currents by combining multiple information from lithological composition, sedimentary structures, chemical composition of volcanic glass shards and morphometric characteristics of volcanic particles. Primary volcaniclastic sediments were found in all four cores, echoing activity known to have occurred up to historical times on the adjacent islands. These preliminary results suggest that greater details of geological events could be inferred for other volcanic islands by adopting a similar approach to core analysis.

Abstract: This reflection is based on the teaching and practice of Rhythmic Gymnastics in the school environment, a sport that was historically created for women, so it is only attributed to this genre. In Rhythmic Gymnastics, the development of corporality, the awareness of temporality and spatiality stands out, in addition, it is sought that its performers manage to express with their whole body by performing soft, delicate movements and of technical perfection. At the same time, it is described how the construction of masculinity and femininity is a process created and established by patriarchal society, through the designation of gender roles. Process that defines the attitudes and behaviors of people, which influences sports practice and body expression. Due to these characteristics, it has been a difficult path for men who teach or practice Rhythmic Gymnastics, because from the hegemonic perspective and gender roles, there is a fear that they will be discriminated against. Added to a segregation by their peers and society by not complying with the designated standard, the question arises as to whether it is the social construction of gender that prevents the practice of this sport both in the school and in the competitive environment., La presente reflexión se basa en la enseñanza y práctica de la Gimnasia Rítmica en el ámbito escolar, deporte que históricamente fue creado para mujeres, por lo que sólo se le atribuye a este género. En la Gimnasia Rítmica se destaca el desarrollo de la corporalidad, la conciencia de la temporalidad y espacialidad, además se busca que sus ejecutantes logren expresar con todo su cuerpo realizando movimientos suaves, delicados y de perfección técnica. Paralelamente, en esta reflexión, se describe cómo la construcción de la masculinidad y la feminidad es un proceso creado y establecido por la sociedad patriarcal, a través de la designación de roles de género. Proceso que define las actitudes y comportamientos de las personas, que influye en la práctica deportiva y la expresión corporal. Debido a estas características ha sido un camino difícil para los hombres que enseñan o practican Gimnasia Rítmica, porque desde la mirada hegemónica y los roles de género, existe el temor de que se les discrimine. Sumado a una segregación por parte de sus pares y la sociedad al no cumplir con el estándar designado, surge el cuestionamiento de si es la construcción social del género es lo que impide la práctica de este deporte tanto en el ámbito escolar como en el competitivo.

28. Social norms and elections: How elected rules can make behavior (in)appropriate

Abstract: Can elections change people's ideas about what is ethically right and what is wrong? A number of recent observations suggest that social norms can change rapidly as a result of election outcomes. We explore this conjecture using a controlled online experiment. In our experiment, participants rate the social appropriateness of sharing income with poorer individuals. We compare the ratings for situations in which a rule has been elected that asks people to share with ratings when the elected rule asks people not to share. We also compare both situations with ratings in a decision environment in which there is no official rule at all. In the absence of an elected rule, sharing is widely considered socially appropriate, while not sharing is considered socially inappropriate. We show that elections can change this social norm: They shift the modal appropriateness perception of actions and, depending on the elected rule, increase their dispersion, i.e. erode previously existing consensus. As a result, actions previously judged socially inappropriate (not sharing) can become socially appropriate. This power prevails, albeit in a weakened form, even if the election process is flawed (introducing a voting fee or poll tax, bribing voters, disenfranchising poorer voters). An additional treatment suggests that both the social information contained in election results and the social appropriateness of following rules per se play a role in shifting social norms. 30. Extending noble gas solubilities in water to higher temperatures for environmental application

Abstract: Noble gas concentrations in natural waters are widely used to determine ambient temperature conditions during the last intensive contact with the atmosphere (equilibration). Such applications require accurate solubility functions, which so far are available only for the common environmental temperature range between (0 and 35) °C. Nonetheless, environmental scenarios that generate higher surface-water temperatures (such as volcanism) exist. Previous solubility measurements beyond ∼35 °C are sparse or outdated and were determined through equilibration of water with pure noble gases. This can potentially render them not suitable for environmental applications where equilibration with atmospheric air is considered. We therefore conducted new measurements for the solubilities of helium, neon, argon, krypton, and xenon in deionized water equilibrated with atmospheric air at ∼1 bar for temperatures ranging from (25 to 80) °C. These measurements were combined with data from the literature that were obtained in a similar manner and fitted with a commonly used function to determine new noble gas solubility functions valid from (0 to 80) °C. We estimate relative standard uncertainties with a 0.99 level of confidence between 0.015 and 0.030 for the new functions, which are thus suitable for the investigation of environmental high-temperature equilibration scenarios. For temperatures beyond 35 °C, the new functions deviate significantly from previous studies.

Abstract: We present recent highlights from the most recent operation phases of Wendelstein 7-X, the most advanced stellarator in the world. Stable detachment with good particle exhaust, low impurity content, and energy confinement times exceeding 100 ms, have been maintained for tens of seconds. Pellet fueling allows for plasma phases with reduced ion-temperature-gradient turbulence, and during such phases, the overall confinement is so good (energy confinement times often exceeding 200 ms) that the attained density and temperature profiles would not have been possible in less optimized devices, since they would have had neoclassical transport losses exceeding the heating applied in W7-X. This provides proof that the reduction of neoclassical transport through magnetic field optimization is successful. W7-X plasmas generally show good impurity screening and high plasma purity, but there is evidence of longer impurity confinement times during turbulence-suppressed phases.

Abstract: El trabajo cooperativo puede ser un método exitoso para desarrollar rasgos de personalidad promoviendo la motivación del estudiantado. Sin embargo, los aspectos emocionales pueden generar problemas cuando se trabaja de manera conjunta, estos pueden ocasionar el éxito o fracaso de un trabajo académico. Esta red de investigación educativa presenta los resultados de un estudio sobre la regulación emocional del alumnado del Grado en Ciencias de la Actividad física y el Deporte de una Universidad chilena y la Universidad de Alicante. La investigación consistió en seleccionar una asignatura de cada universidad y escoger una temática específica de cada materia para proponer su desarrollo a través del trabajo en grupo. Para evaluar la investigación se utilizó el cuestionario Adaptative Instrument for Regulation of Emotions. Los resultados señalan que su principal propósito del alumnado fue asumir su responsabilidad frente al trabajo, sacar ideas nuevas de las actividades. Los mayores retos presentados se relacionan con que algunas personas tenían circunstancias y compromisos personales, para llegar a tiempo o quedarse hasta tarde en la reunión. Los mecanismos de regulación emocional utilizados para resolver los problemas fueron para los estudiantes chilenos la autorregulación y la coregulación, en tanto para los estudiantes españoles utilizaron la regulación social.

Abstract: The Epoch of Reionization Spectrometer (EoR-Spec) will be an instrument module for the Prime-Cam receiver on the CCAT-prime Collaboration's Fred Young Submillimeter Telescope (FYST), a 6-m primary mirror Crossed Dragone telescope. With its Fabry-Perot interferometer (FPI), EoR-Spec will step through frequencies between 210 and 420 GHz to perform line intensity mapping of the 158 $\mu$m [CII] line in aggregates of star-forming galaxies between redshifts of 3.5 and 8 to trace the evolution of structure in the universe during the epoch of reionization. Here we present the optical design of the module including studies of the optical quality and other key parameters at the image surface. In order to achieve the required resolving power (R$\sim$100) with the FPI, it is important to have a highly collimated beam at the Lyot stop of the system; the optimization process to achieve this goal with four lenses instead of three as used in other Prime-Cam modules is outlined. As part of the optimization, we test the effect of replacing some of the aspheric lenses with biconic lenses in this Crossed Dragone design and find that the biconic lenses tend to improve the image quality across the focal plane of the module., Comment: 9 pages, 7 figures, Presented at SPIE Millimeter, Submillimeter, and Far-Infrared Detectors and Instrumentation for Astronomy XI

Abstract: Mod-Cam is a first light and commissioning instrument for the CCAT-prime project's six-meter aperture Fred Young Submillimeter Telescope (FYST), currently under construction at 5600 m on Cerro Chajnantor in Chile's Atacama Desert. Prime-Cam, a first-generation science instrument for FYST, will deliver over ten times greater mapping speed than current and near-term facilities for unprecedented 280-850 GHz broadband and spectroscopic measurements with microwave kinetic inductance detectors (MKIDs). CCAT-prime will address a suite of science goals, from Big Bang cosmology to star formation and galaxy evolution over cosmic time. Mod-Cam deployment on FYST with a 280 GHz instrument module containing MKID arrays is planned for early science observations in 2024. Mod-Cam will be used to test instrument modules for Prime-Cam, which can house up to seven instrument modules. We discuss the design and status of the 0.9 m diameter, 1.8 m long Mod-Cam receiver and 40 cm diameter 280 GHz instrument module, with cold stages at 40 K, 4 K, 1 K, and 100 mK. Abstract: The Epoch of Reionization Spectrometer (EoR-Spec) is one of the instrument modules to be installed in the Prime-Cam receiver of the Fred Young Submillimeter Telescope (FYST). This six-meter aperture telescope will be built on Cerro Chajnantor in the Atacama Desert in Chile. EoR-Spec is designed to probe early star-forming regions by measuring the [CII] fine-structure lines between redshift z = 3.5 and z = 8 using the line intensity mapping technique. The module is equipped with a scanning Fabry-Perot interferometer (FPI) to achieve the spectral resolving power of about RP = 100. The FPI consists of two parallel and identical, highly reflective mirrors with a clear aperture of 14 cm, forming a resonating cavity called etalon. The mirrors are silicon-based and patterned with double-layer metamaterial anti-reflection coatings (ARC) on one side and metal mesh reflectors on the other. The double-layer ARCs ensure a low reflectance at one substrate surface and help tailor the reflectance profile over the FPI bandwidth. Abstract: The Milos, Christiana-Santorini-Kolumbo (CSK) and Kos-Yali-Nisyros (KYN) volcanic complexes of the Aegean Volcanic Arc have repeatedly produced highly explosive eruptions from at least ∼360 ka into historic times and still show recent unrest. We present the marine tephra record from an array of 50, up to 7.4 m long, sediment cores along the arc collected in 2017 during RV Poseidon cruise POS513, which complements earlier work on distal to ultra-distal eastern Mediterranean sediment cores. A unique set of glass-shard trace element (LA-ICPMS) compositions complements our major element (EMP) data on 220 primary ash layers and 40 terrestrial samples to support geochemical fingerprinting for correlations with 19 known tephras from all three volcanic complexes and with the 39 ka Campanian Ignimbrite from the Campi Flegrei, Italy. The correlations include eleven eruptions from CSK (Kameni, Kolumbo 1650, Minoan, Cape Riva, Cape Tripiti, Upper Scoriae 1 and 2, Middle Pumice, Cape Thera, Lower Pumice, Cape Therma 3). We identify a previously unknown widespread tephra from a plinian eruption on Milos (Firiplaka Tephra). Near the KYN we correlate marine tephras with the Kos Plateau Tuff, the Yali 1 and Yali 2 tephras, and the Upper and Lower Pumice on Nisyros. Between these two major tephras, we found two tephras from Nisyros not yet observed on land. The four Nisyros tephras form a systematic trend toward more evolved magma compositions. In the companion paper we use the tephrostratigraphic framework established here to constrain new eruption ages and magnitudes as a contribution to volcanic hazard assessment.

Abstract: We use the tephrostratigraphic framework along the Aegean Volcanic Arc established in part 1 of this contribution to determine hemipelagic sedimentation rates, calculate new tephra ages, and constrain the minimum magnitudes of (sub)plinian eruptions of the last 200 kyrs. Hemipelagic sedimentation rates range from ∼0.5 cm/kyr up to ∼40 cm/kyr and vary laterally as well as over time. Interpolation between dated tephras yields an eruption age of ∼37 ka for the Firiplaka tephra, showing that explosive volcanism on Milos is ∼24 kyrs younger than previously thought. The four marine Nisyros tephras (N1 to N4) identified in part 1 (including the Upper (N1) and Lower (N4) Pumice) have ages of ∼57 ka, ∼63 ka, ∼69 ka, and ∼76 ka, respectively. Eruption ages for the Yali-1 and Yali-2 tephras are ∼55 ka and ∼34 ka, respectively. The Yali-2 tephra comprises two geochemically and laterally distinct marine facies. The southern facies is identical to the Yali-2 fall deposit on land but the western facies has slightly less evolved glass compositions. Overall, erupted plinian and co-ignimbrite fall tephra volumes range from <1 to 56 km3 (excluding possible caldera fillings and ignimbite volumes), and 80% of the eruptions had magnitude 5.5

Abstract: The Prime-Cam receiver on the Fred Young Submillimeter Telescope (FYST) for the CCAT-prime project aims to address important astrophysical and cosmological questions with sensitive broadband, polarimetric, and spectroscopic measurements. The primary frequency bands in development include 280, 350, and 850 GHz for the polarization-sensitive broadband channels and 210--420 GHz for the spectrometers. Microwave kinetic inductance detectors (MKIDs) are a natural choice of detector technology for the simplicity in multiplexed readout needed for large format arrays at these high frequencies. Abstract: The study analyzes teachers’ self-perceived digital competence at a private university in Lima, Peru. A non-experimental comparative level design was used through non-parametric techniques. The DigCompEdu CheckIn tool of 25 items was applied with a Likert scale. The results indicate the need to (a) validate the questionnaire and have a measure of the construct with solid and stable psychometric properties; (b) compare these findings with those found in other MetaRed Peru institutions, as a point of contrast, to develop strategies that encourage teachers to continue their digital literacy; and (c) identify which interventions in informal settings help teachers develop their digital competence. © 2020 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

Abstract: Geological histories of volcanic ocean islands can be revealed by the sediments shed by them. Hence there is an interest in studying cores of volcaniclastic sediments that are particularly preserved in the many flat-floored basins lying close to the Azores islands. We analyse four gravity cores collected around the central group of the islands. Three sedimentary facies (F1-F2a, F2b) are recognized based on visual core logging, particle morphometric and geochemical analyses. F1 is clay-rich hemipelagite comprising homogeneous mud with mottled structures from bioturbation. F2a and F2b are both clay-poor volcaniclastic deposits, which are carbonate-rich and carbonate-poor, respectively. More biogenic carbonate in F2a reflects the incorporation of unconsolidated calcareous material from island shelves or bioturbation. Within F2a and F2b we identify deposits emplaced by pyroclastic fallout, primary or secondary turbidity currents by combining multiple information from lithological composition, sedimentary structures, chemical composition of volcanic glass shards and morphometric characteristics of volcanic particles. Primary volcaniclastic sediments were found in all four cores, echoing activity known to have occurred up to historical times on the adjacent islands. These preliminary results suggest that greater details of geological events could be inferred for other volcanic islands by adopting a similar approach to core analysis.

Abstract: This review focuses on the recognition of volcanic ash occurrences in marine sediment cores and on using their appearance and properties to deduce their origin. Widespread marine tephra layers are important marker horizons for both volcanological as well as general geological investigations. We describe ash detection by visual inspection and logging of sediment cores. Ash layer structure and texture, particle morphologies and lithological compositions of primary volcanic deposits are summarized and processes modifying them are discussed, both natural processes acting on and in the seafloor, i.e. erosion and bioturbation, and anthropogenic modifications during drilling/coring and core preparation. We discuss primary emplacement processes of marine fall and flow tephra deposits derived from either subaerial or submarine sources in order to identify distinguishing properties. We also elaborate on processes generating secondary, resedimented volcaniclastic layers such as submarine landslides and shelf erosion as well as fluvial input and ice-rafting, and how they can be distinguished from primary volcaniclastic deposits, which is essential in tephrostratigraphy. Finally, methods of tephra correlation between cores and on-land deposits/volcanoes are illustrated because they allow us to extend the 1D information from single cores to 3D distribution and facies changes of tephras and to bridge the land–sea gap.

Abstract: Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is a highly prevalent and intractable form of cardiac decompensation commonly associated with diastolic dysfunction. Here, we show that diastolic dysfunction in patients with HFpEF is associated with a cardiac deficit in nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD(+)). Elevating NAD(+) by oral supplementation of its precursor, nicotinamide, improved diastolic dysfunction induced by aging (in 2-year-old C57BL/6J mice), hypertension (in Dahl salt-sensitive rats), or cardiometabolic syndrome (in ZSF1 obese rats). This effect was mediated partly through alleviated systemic comorbidities and enhanced myocardial bioenergetics. Simultaneously, nicotinamide directly improved cardiomyocyte passive stiffness and calcium-dependent active relaxation through increased deacetylation of titin and the sarcoplasmic reticulum calcium adenosine triphosphatase 2a, respectively. In a long-term human cohort study, high dietary intake of naturally occurring NAD(+) precursors was associated with lower blood pressure and reduced risk of cardiac mortality. Collectively, these results suggest NAD(+) precursors, and especially nicotinamide, as potential therapeutic agents to treat diastolic dysfunction and HFpEF in humans.

Abstract: Background: The inclusion of facial and bodily cues (clinical gestalt) in machine learning (ML) models improves the assessment of patients' health status, as shown in genetic syndromes and acute coronary syndrome. It is unknown if the inclusion of clinical gestalt improves ML-based classification of acutely ill patients. As in previous research in ML analysis of medical images, simulated or augmented data may be used to assess the usability of clinical gestalt. Objective: To assess whether a deep learning algorithm trained on a dataset of simulated and augmented facial photographs reflecting acutely ill patients can distinguish between healthy and LPS-infused, acutely ill individuals. Methods: Photographs from twenty-six volunteers whose facial features were manipulated to resemble a state of acute illness were used to extract features of illness and generate a synthetic dataset of acutely ill photographs, using a neural transfer convolutional neural network (NT-CNN) for data augmentation. Then, four distinct CNNs were trained on different parts of the facial photographs and concatenated into one final, stacked CNN which classified individuals as healthy or acutely ill. Finally, the stacked CNN was validated in an external dataset of volunteers injected with lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Results: In the external validation set, the four individual feature models distinguished acutely ill patients with sensitivities ranging from 10.5% (95% CI, 1.3-33.1% for the skin model) to 89.4% (66.9-98.7%, for the nose model). Specificity ranged from 42.1% (20.3-66.5%) for the nose model and 94.7% (73.9-99.9%) for skin. The stacked model combining all four facial features achieved an area under the receiver characteristic operating curve (AUROC) of 0.67 (0.62-0.71) and distinguished acutely ill patients with a sensitivity of 100% (82.35-100.00%) and specificity of 42.11% (20.25-66.50%). We carried out a bibliographic review, finding that the investigations and publications in this line are based on the analysis of choreographies already created and their interpretations, rather than on their constituent parts. This article presents and describes the elements of space, which must be considered when putting together a RG series, individual or ensemble, as well as for any choreographic composition of related areas. As a result, we offer this document for those who wish to undertake this task of creating and, at the same time, responding to the established rules of competing or being evaluated., La escaza literatura especializada ligada a la gimnasia rítmica (GR), en especial centrada en los componentes necesarios para montar una serie individual o de conjunto, termina siendo plasmada en base sólo a los requisitos que se deben cumplir, limitando la creación de nuevas combinaciones. El objetivo es destacar y realzar los movimientos y expresiones de los(las) gimnastas, sin perder de vista el código vigente. Se llevó a cabo una revisión bibliográfica, detectando que las investigaciones y publicaciones en esta línea, se basan en el análisis de coreografías ya creadas y sus interpretaciones, más que en sus partes constituyentes. Este artículo presenta y describe los elementos del espacio, que deben ser considerados al momento de armar una serie de GR individual o de conjunto, así como para cualquier composición coreográfica de áreas afines. Como resultado ofrecemos este documento de apoyo para quienes deseen incursionar en esta tarea de crear y a su vez de responder a las normas establecidas al momento de competir o de ser evaluado.

50. The medial offshore record of explosive volcanism along the central to eastern Aegean Volcanic Arc, part 2: Tephra ages and volumes, eruption magnitudes and marine sedimentation rate variations

Abstract: We use the tephrostratigraphic framework along the Aegean Volcanic Arc established in part 1 of this contribution to determine hemipelagic sedimentation rates, calculate new tephra ages, and constrain the minimum magnitudes of (sub)plinian eruptions of the last 200 kyrs. Hemipelagic sedimentation rates range from ∼0.5 cm/kyr up to ∼40 cm/kyr and vary laterally as well as over time. Interpolation between dated tephras yields an eruption age of ∼37 ka for the Firiplaka tephra, showing that explosive volcanism on Milos is ∼24 kyrs younger than previously thought. The four marine Nisyros tephras (N1 to N4) identified in part 1 (including the Upper (N1) and Lower (N4) Pumice) have ages of ∼57 ka, ∼63 ka, ∼69 ka, and ∼76 ka, respectively. Eruption ages for the Yali-1 and Yali-2 tephras are ∼55 ka and ∼34 ka, respectively. The Yali-2 tephra comprises two geochemically and laterally distinct marine facies. The southern facies is identical to the Yali-2 fall deposit on land but the western facies has slightly less evolved glass compositions. Overall, erupted plinian and co-ignimbrite fall tephra volumes range from <1 to 56 km3 (excluding possible caldera fillings and ignimbite volumes), and 80% of the eruptions had magnitude 5.5
