Die Entscheidung, den eigenen Lebensstil zu verändern und körperlich-sportliche Aktivitäten zu implementieren, geht über rationale Prozesse hinaus. Das Wissen um die Förderung der individuellen physischen Gesundheit durch körperlich-sportliche Aktivität reicht nicht aus, um bewegungsinaktive Personen an körperlich-sportliche Aktivitäten zu binden. Die Erfahrung sich während oder nach einer Aktivität gut zu fühlen, steigert die Motivation diese Aktivität zu wiederholen. Die Wahrnehmung des aktuellen psychischen Befindens in Bezug auf eine körperlich-sportliche Aktivität beeinflusst folglich zukünftiges Bewegungsverhalten. Das aktuelle psychische Befinden kann über die Dimensionen affektive Valenz und Aktiviertheit erfasst werden. Im anglo-amerikanischen Raum werden die Feeling Scale (FS) und die Felt Arousal Scale (FAS) als Messinstrumente zur Erfassung dieser Dimensionen bereits eingesetzt. Das Ziel des vorliegenden Promotionsprojektes liegt darin, die deutsche Übersetzung der FS und der FAS für die drei Interventionsformen moderates Joggen, Progressive Muskelrelaxation sowie Auto-genes Training zu validieren. Die Dimensionen affektive Valenz und Aktiviertheit wurden jeweils direkt vor und nach der Interventionsdurchführung mit der FS und der FAS erfasst. Zur Validitätsprüfung wurde der Self-Assessment Manikin als ein weiteres Messinstrument erhoben. Die Gültigkeit der FS und der FAS konnte mit den Multitrait-Multimethod Analysen für alle drei Interventionsformen bestätigt werden. Im Ergebnis stehen Forscherinnen und Forschern des deutschen Sprachraums zwei valide Messinstrumente zur Erfassung der affektiven Valenz und Aktiviertheit für verschiedene Anwendungsbereiche zur Verfügung., The decision to change one's lifestyle and the implementation of physical activities are not just rational processes. Knowing that physical activity promotes individual physical health is not enough to keep inactive people to physical activities. The experience of feeling good during or after an activity increases the motivation to repeat this activity. The perception of the current well-being in relation to a physical activity therefore influences future physical activity behavior. The current well-being can be measured with the dimensions of affective valence and arousal. In Anglo-American countries, the Feeling Scale (FS) and the Felt Arousal Scale (FAS) are already used to measure these dimensions. Machining processes are used in almost every manufacturing company. In many production systems, particularly in the machine building and automotive industries, they even represent the largest proportion of manufacturing processes and therefore have a significant influence on economic and environmental targets. The cutting tools used on NC controlled machine tools are usually made of carbide materials, which are produced with high energy input and the use of critical raw materials. Even so, in mechanical engineering, there are several approaches to substituting carbides with mineral-based materials. These mineral-based materials have interesting mechanical properties such as high strength and good damping and are also highly available and inexpensive. Using the example of an end mill, this paper compares the ecological impact of carbide end mills in comparison to newly developed rock flour-based ones. A comparative life cycle assessment in accordance with the ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 standards is applied. To assess the manufacturing and utilisation phase in the life cycle, several rock flour-based end mills were manufactured and investigated in experimental studies. It is shown that the approach of using rock flour-based end mills is beneficial from an environmental point of view, even considering their lower performance compared to carbide end mills.

Das von der Universität Hamburg und der Techniker Krankenkasse entwickelte Modellprojekt „PROCARE - Prävention in stationären Pflegeeinrichtungen“ setzt ein umfassendes Präventionsprogramm auf Basis des Präventionsleitfadens, nach § 5 SGB XI, in 48 Pflegeeinrichtungen in acht Städten Deutschlands um. Ziel ist die Gesundheitsförderung von Mitarbeiter*innen in den Betrieben sowie die Einführung von Präventionsmaßnahmen zur Verbesserung von Bewegung, Kognition und psychosozialem Wohlbefinden für die Bewohner*innen. Die Umsetzung der Gesundheitsförderungsmaßnahmen und deren Evaluierung erfolgte am Standort Paderborn in sechs Pflegeeinrichtungen im Zeitraum von Oktober 2017 bis Dezember 2020. Die kooperierenden Pflegeeinrichtungen bieten insgesamt 494 stationäre Pflegeplätze. Insgesamt nahmen 234 Mitarbeiter*innen und 80 Bewohner*innen stationärer Pflegeeinrichtungen an der Studie teil. Die Erhebung der physischen, psychischen und psychosozialen sowie kognitive Ressourcen bei den Bewohner*innen wurden bei beiden Zielgruppen nach dem vorgegebenen Testmanual der Universität Hamburg in Abstimmung mit dem Gesamtkonsortium durchgeführt. Die Datenerhebung umfasste bei den Mitarbeiter*innen vier Messzeitpunkte und bei den Bewohner*innen drei. Für den weiteren standardisierten Verlauf des Projekts wurden die Interventionen: BASE-Schulungen und Rückenfitness für die Mitarbeiter*innen und das Bewegungsprogramm für die Bewohner*innen nach dem entwickelten Manual von der Universität Hamburg durchgeführt. Die Ergebnisse der Mitarbeiterdaten zeigen deutlich, dass eine Beteiligung der Mitarbeiter*innen an der Studie über mehr als zwei Messzeitpunkte nicht umsetzbar war. Für den 3. The present study proves the construct validity of the German versions of the Feeling Scale(FS) and the Felt Arousal Scale (FAS) for measuring the affective responses (affective valence andarousal) for a moderate-intensity jogging (JG) exercise. In previous studies, both scales were validatedfor a high-intensity bicycle ergometer exercise and for relaxation techniques. In the present study,194 participants performed the JG exercise for 45 min and completed the FS and the FAS, as well asthe Self-Assessment Manikin (SAM), for a self-other comparison in a pre-test-intervention-post-testdesign. The results of the correlation analyses replicated the previous findings for the high-intensitybicycle ergometer exercise and the relaxation techniques, revealing significant positive correlationsfor the valence dimension between the FS and the SAM-Pleasure subscale (r = 0.50) and for thearousal dimension between the FAS and the SAM-Arousal subscale (r = 0.16). The term downcycling is often used anecdotally to describe imperfections in recycling. However, it is rarely defined. Here, we identify six meanings of the term downcycling as used in scientific articles and reports. These encompass the material quality of reprocessed materials, target applications, product value, alloying element losses, material systems, and additional primary production. In a proposal for harmonized and more specific terminology, we define downcycling as the phenomenon of quality reduction of materials reprocessed from waste relative to their original quality. We further identify that the reduced quality can express itself thermodynamically, functionally, and economically, covering all perspectives on downcycling. Dilution, contamination, reduced demand for recycled materials, and design-related issues can cause those downcycling effects. We anticipate that this more precise terminology can help quantify downcycling, keep materials in the loop longer, use materials more often and at higher quality, and therefore assist in reducing material-related environmental impacts.

Das durch das Umweltbundesamt geförderte Projekt befasst sich mit der Ressourceneffizienz- steigerung in der Metallindustrie in Hinblick auf die Substitution von Primärrohstoffen, die im Recyclingprozess zur Verdünnung unerwünschter Begleitelemente beim Recycling eine wesent- liche Rolle spielen. Das damit einhergehend Downcycling soll mittels innovativer Sortiertechni- ken (Kamera-/Sensorsysteme) vermindert und der Recyclingprozess von metallischen Legie- rungen durch eine höhere Trennschärfe deutlich verbessert werden. Der Fokus der Untersuchungen liegt in diesem Projekt auf der Untersuchung eines legierungs- spezifischen Recyclings von Stahl-, Aluminium-, Kupfer- und Zinkschrotten. Hier soll der Ver- gleich verschiedener Schrottfraktionen vor bzw. nach innovativen Analyse- bzw. Sortier- und Se- parier-Prozessen neue Erkenntnisse liefern. Darüber hinaus werden definitorische Grundlagen sowie Steuerungsgrößen für Up- und Downcycling und Regeln für sortenarmes Design erarbei- tet. Auf Grundlage der Analyseergebnisse werden politische Empfehlungen zur besseren Erschlie- ßung bisher nicht genutzter, hochwertiger Metallpotenziale erarbeitet. Zu den Bewertungsmaß- stäben gehören die Einsparpotenziale von primären Rohstoffen und damit Treibhausgasemissio- nen sowie die Kostenstruktur für die Herstellung von möglichst hochwertigen Legierungen aus Rezyklaten. Eine erfolgreiche, das heißt mit minimalen Downcycling-Prozessen „belastete“ Bereitstellung von sekundären Rohstoffen erfordert eine umfassende Wissensbasis über die wissenschaftli- chen Hintergründe von Downcycling, bestehende Recyclingstrukturen und verwendete Sortier- techniken, technologische Potenziale, metallurgische Prozesssimulationen und Bewertungsan- sätzen von Recyclingprozessen, die im Rahmen dieses Projektes entwickelt und genutzt werden.

The anthropogenic silver cycle shows the global material flows of silver on an annual basis. Beginning with mine supply the silver flows in various end use sectors. It is either stored as part of the above ground silver reserves or gets consumed and recycled or dissipates on landfills or with sewage. The article discusses supply demand scenarios of silver. The study is methodically based on an analysis of resource specific factors like exploration rates, reserves and resources and regional distribution of exploration areas. Among the numerous application areas for silver the one with the greatest growth potential is discussed in detail. Solar energy sector is a fast growing area which is analysed quantitatively in detail to obtain information on potential future bottlenecks in material availability. Due to its' high electrical conductivity silver is used in silicon photovoltaic technology and Gratzel cells to form the electrical contacts. In concentrated solar power applications silver is the material of choice as the coating of the mirror because of its' high optical reflectivity. Both concerns about climate change as well as questions related to energy resources and energy security stress the importance of renewable energy technologies. This has resulted in several future scenarios with partly very ambitious goals for the construction of the new energy infrastructure. The scenarios are discussed in the light of known silver resources.

A combined experimental and numerical analysis is used to examine the movement and interaction of saltwater and freshwater in unconfined porous media. Particular emphasis is placed on flow phenomena in the partially saturated region above the water table and along the interface between the saturated and partially saturated regions. While some numerical models are apparently capable of simulating these phenomena, there is still a significant lack of experimental data with which to verify the models. Here a series of laboratory-scale experiments is considered to evaluate density-dependent, saltwater-freshwater flow patterns in both the saturated and partially saturated zones. The laboratory experiments demonstrate clearly that significant lateral flows and coupled density-driven flow effects may take place in the partially saturated region above the water table and at the interface between the saturated and partially saturated zones. In parallel, a finite element numerical model is developed. The model reproduces effectively the observed flow behaviors; the quality of the results suggests that the numerical model has the capacity to provide realistic predictions
