- Abstract
This executive position paper proposes recommendations for improving F. W. Holbein Middle School using the New Jersey Department of Education's research-based turnaround principles as a framework for school improvement. With input from staff, the author identified the turnaround principles found to be most relevant in improving the school. In these critical areas, research-based practices are recommended for implementation. Survey data indicated that critical areas to improve are: School Climate and Culture, School Leadership, Instruction, and Family and Community Engagement. Further input was gathered from teacher interviews to accurately assess the current practices at Holbein School. The recommendations given were developed collaboratively between the author of this study and the teachers in the school.
