Timothy Donahue writes from "somewhere in France" to his brother John C. Donahue (possibly in Massachusetts) on 10 May 1918; he mentions the mail he has received from home, including a postal from May M. in Washington that was forwarded from Newport News, Virginia. He wrote a letter to Dewey (Jeremiah Dewey Donahue) last week; and expects Tom (Thomas William Donahue) has enlisted. He asks about John's new baby, "Junior" (Catherine Boyle Donahue), although he does not yet know her name or gender. (Catherine had passed away shortly after her birth in April but this news had not yet reached Timothy in France). He describes the food and conditions for his unit; would like candy and cigarettes sent to him but does not need anything else; paper is scarce and he is using up all his pieces writing to John. Dr. Edgar Hyde of the 91st Evacuation Hospital writes from "somewhere in the Netherlands" to his wife, Margaret (Miller) Hyde, and "folks" on 27 November 1944 regarding his recent activities; he also describes local Dutch families and their experiences under the Germans.
