Purpose: To investigate whether a radiomics model based on mammography (MG) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be used to predict disease-free survival (DFS) after phyllodes tumor (PT) surgery., Method: About 131 PT patients who underwent MG and MRI before surgery between January 2010 and December 2020 were retrospectively enrolled, including 15 patients with recurrence and metastasis and 116 without recurrence. 884 and 3138 radiomic features were extracted from MG and MR images, respectively. Then, multiple radiomics models were established to predict the recurrence risk of the patients by applying a support vector machine classifier. The area under the ROC curve (AUC) was calculated to evaluate model performance. After dividing the patients into high- and low-risk groups based on the predicted radiomics scores, survival analysis was conducted to compare differences between the groups., Results: In total, 3 MG-related and 5 MRI-related radiomic models were established; the prediction performance of the T1WI feature fusion model was the best, with an AUC value of 0.93. After combining the features of MG and MRI, the AUC increased to 0.95. Furthermore, the MG, MRI and all-image radiomic models had statistically significant differences in survival between the high- and low-risk groups (P < .001). All-image radiomics model showed higher survival performance than the MG and MRI radiomics models alone., Conclusions: Radiomics features based on preoperative MG and MR images can predict DFS after PT surgery, and the prediction score of the image radiomics model can be used as a potential indicator of recurrence risk., (Copyright © 2024 Elsevier Inc. Microrecurrent glioma is a common neurological tumor, and the key to its surgical treatment is to accurately evaluate the size, location and degree of recurrence of the lesion. The purpose of this study was to explore the surgical treatment of microrecurrent glioma based on MR Imaging, and to provide accurate and reliable basis for clinical decision-making. Before surgery, detailed MR Imaging tests were performed for each patient to accurately locate and evaluate the characteristics of the lesions. Multimodal imaging examination were arranged to accurate the pre-operation diagnosis. Neuro-navigation is necessary for the operation design and tumor confirmation. Function monitor and intraoperation MR were prepared when necessary.Mini was defined by the size, location and symptoms. In all 5 cases requiring reoperation, total resection was achieved. No systemic and local complications occurred. No permeant neurological dysfunction remained. The average stay time after the operation is days. All patients survived in the recent follow-up. Reoperation of mini recurrent glioma is a good treatment choice. We made little injury to patients, which wouldn't affect their conditions and next therapies. Through MR Imaging, the diagnosis and location of microrecurrent glioma, as well as the relationship with surrounding tissues and the degree of infiltration, provide important information for surgeons to evaluate the resectable lesion. Purpose: To investigate the clinical characteristics, diagnosis and prognosis of patients with laryngeal tuberculosis (LTB) combined with respiratory tuberculosis., Materials and Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 134 patients who underwent endoscopy and were eventually diagnosed with LTB. The patients' demographic characteristics, clinical manifestations, endoscopic features, auxiliary examination, imaging examination and prognostic characteristics were analyzed., Results: LTB patients had a median age of 45.5 years (range from 12 to 87 years) and a median course of 3.0 months (range from 0.1 to 72 months). The patients' symptoms mainly presented as hoarseness (97.0 %), abnormal sensation of pharyngeal (49.3 %), cough and sputum (41.0 %), pharyngalgia (39.6 %), dysphagia (10.4 %) and dyspnea (8.2 %). The positive rate of tuberculous symptoms was 25.4 %. Endoscopic features showed that the lesions mainly involved the glottis (87.3 %), presenting as unilateral lesions (66.7 %), near-full-length involvement (88.0 %), with mucosal waves significantly reduced (86.3 %), followed by supraglottis (43.3 %), subglottis (24.6 %) and the pharynx (15.7 %). The lesions may present as granulomatous proliferation (66.4 %), ulceration (65.7 %) or swelling and exudation (51.5 %). A total of 75 patients (56.0 %) were finally diagnosed with combined pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB), with a positive chest X-ray rate of 25.6 % and a positive chest CT rate of 71.2 %. A total of 42 patients who received anti-tuberculosis treatment were followed up, and 73.8 % of patients had significant improvement in symptoms. The morphology of the pharyngeal and laryngeal mucosa returned to basically normal (59.4 %) or scar-like (34.4 %)., Conclusions: LTB is usually found in middle-aged men, and patients' symptoms are mainly hoarseness, abnormal sensation of pharyngeal, pharyngalgia, cough and sputum, and can be combined with tuberculous symptoms. These lesions mainly involve multiple subregions, mainly in the glottis, and can be combined with pharyngeal involvement. There were various types of lesions. Half of the patients were complicated with PTB, and chest CT was superior to X-ray in the detection of pulmonary lesions. Purpose: Urachal cancer is similar to gastrointestinal adenocarcinoma in histology, and gastroscopy/colonoscopy is often administered during perioperative evaluation. However, gastroscopy and colonoscopy have corresponding disadvantages. This study discusses whether gastroscopy/colonoscopy is truly necessary for patients with urachal cancer., Patients and Methods: A total of 166 bladder adenocarcinoma cases diagnosed at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center were retrospectively reviewed and divided into two groups (urachal cancer and nonurachal cancer), and perioperative evaluations were retrieved., Results: There were 78 patients with urachal cancer, the median age was 48 years, and 59 were male. Perioperative gastroscopy/colonoscopy revealed 5 intestinal polyps and 1 adenoma during these evaluations, and no primary gastrointestinal cancer was found. Meanwhile, preoperative imaging evaluation did not detect significant gastrointestinal lesions. For 88 patients with nonurachal cancer, including primary bladder adenocarcinoma and metastatic tumors from gastrointestinal cancer, the median age was 56 years, and 64 were male. Preoperative imaging evaluation demonstrated 36 cases of gastrointestinal lesions, and 32 were confirmed by gastroscopy/colonoscopy; the other 4 were negative. Another 4 cases of colon cancer were detected by regular colonoscopy for suspected primary bladder adenocarcinoma. In all, 35 cases of colon cancer and 1 case of gastric cancer were identified by endoscopic examination. The diagnostic consistency of imaging and gastrointestinal endoscopy was favorable (P < 0.001), and the negative predictive value and diagnostic efficiency of imaging were 96.9% and 94.6%, respectively., Conclusions: The vast majority of gastrointestinal cancer cases can be identified by assessment of the patient's clinical symptoms, meticulous physical examination, and imaging evaluation. Objective: The occurrence of Brucella-induced abdominal aortic aneurysms is an exceedingly rare phenomenon, yet it stands as one of the most severe complications within this context. The combined utilization of serological testing and imaging diagnostics has been validated as an effective approach for the identification of Brucella-induced abdominal aortic aneurysms. Presently, the predominant therapeutic strategies encompass antibiotic treatment and surgical intervention. Nonetheless, ongoing controversies persist concerning the establishment of diagnostic criteria, the optimal timing and selection of antibiotic regimens, and the nuanced decision between open surgical procedures and endovascular interventions. Through a meticulous analysis of cases originating from our institution as well as a comprehensive review of previously documented instances, we aim to engage in a detailed discourse on the salient diagnostic and therapeutic facets surrounding Brucella-induced abdominal aortic aneurysms., Methods: We conducted a retrospective summary of three cases involving Brucella-induced abdominal aortic aneurysms treated within our institution. Furthermore, we performed a comprehensive PubMed search, without imposing restrictions on language or publication year, to identify pertinent literature pertaining to Brucella-induced abdominal aortic aneurysms. The selection criteria primarily focused on case reports delineating occurrences of abdominal aortic aneurysms attributed to Brucella infection., Results: We present three distinct cases of Brucella-induced abdominal aortic aneurysms managed at our institution, providing comprehensive insights into the employed diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Additionally, over the past five decades, a total of 24 cases in 23 publications of Brucella-induced abdominal aortic aneurysms have been reported on PubMed. The earliest report dates back to 1976., Conclusion: Our analysis suggests that Brucella-induced abdominal aortic aneurysm is characterized by a remarkably low incidence but is associated with a substantial risk of life-threatening complications. The integration of serological and imaging assessments assumes pivotal importance in facilitating prompt diagnosis of this condition. The prompt initiation of targeted antibiotic therapy is recommended, and the selection of appropriate surgical strategies should be guided by considerations including aneurysm dimensions and morphological attributes. Objective: This study explored the clinical features and immune responses of children with primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) during pneumonia episodes., Methods: The 61 children with PCD who were admitted to hospital because of pneumonia were retrospectively enrolled into this study between April 2017 and August 2022. A total of 61 children with pneumonia but without chronic diseases were enrolled as the control group. The clinical characteristics, levels of inflammatory indicators, pathogens, and imaging features of the lungs were compared between the two groups., Results: The PCD group had higher levels of lymphocytes (42.80% versus 36.00%, p = 0.029) and eosinophils (2.40% versus 1.25%, p = 0.020), but lower neutrophil counts (3.99 versus 5.75 × 10 9 /L, p = 0.011), percentages of neutrophils (46.39% versus 54.24%, p = 0.014), CRP (0.40 versus 4.20 mg/L, p < 0.001) and fibrinogen (257.50 versus 338.00 mg/dL, p = 0.010) levels. Children with PCD and children without chronic diseases were both most commonly infected with Mycoplasma pneumoniae (24.6% versus 51.9%). Children with PCD had significantly more common imaging features, including mucous plugging ( p = 0.042), emphysema ( p = 0.007), bronchiectasis ( p < 0.001), mosaic attenuation ( p = 0.012), interstitial inflammation ( p = 0.015), and sinusitis ( p < 0.001)., Conclusion: PCD is linked to immune system impairment, which significantly contributes to our understanding of the pathophysiology of this entity.

Background: The multidisciplinary team (MDT) has been carried out in many large hospitals now. However, given the costs of time and money and with little strong evidence of MDT effectiveness being reported, critiques of MDTs persist., Aim: To evaluate the effects of MDTs on patients with synchronous colorectal liver metastases and share our opinion on management of synchronous colorectal liver metastases., Methods: In this study we collected clinical data of patients with synchronous colorectal liver metastases from February 2014 to February 2017 in the Chinese People's Liberation Army General Hospital and subsequently divided them into an MDT+ group and an MDT- group. In total, 93 patients in MDT+ group and 169 patients in MDT- group were included totally., Results: Statistical increases in the rate of chest computed tomography examination ( P = 0.001), abdomen magnetic resonance imaging examination ( P = 0.000), and preoperative image staging ( P = 0.0000) were observed in patients in MDT+ group. Additionally, the proportion of patients receiving chemotherapy ( P = 0.019) and curative resection ( P = 0.042) was also higher in MDT+ group. Background/aim: Recently, an increase in the number of asymptomatic rare benign liver tumors (BLTs) has been reported during health check-ups. It is difficult to determine the nature of partial rare BLTs and not easy to distinguish from malignant liver tumors. This study aimed to analysis clinical features, diagnosis and treatment of rare BLTs to reduce misdiagnosis and provide reference for clinical practice., Methods: From January 2012 to January 2021, we treated 112 rare BLTs by hepatectomy, including 54 focal nodular hyperplasias, 14 hepatocellular adenomas, 28 hepatic angiomyolipomas, 3 hepatic granulomas, 2 inflammatory pseudotumors of the liver, 2 nodular regenerative hyperplasia, 2 hepatic lipomas, 1 solitary fibrous tumor of the liver, 1 hepatic schwannoma and 1 hepatic myelolipoma., Results: The majority of patients were middle-aged female and asymptomatic. Single tumors were dominant. The diagnostic accuracies of computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) were 32.5% and 44.2%, respectively. The majority of tumors were likely to be misdiagnosed as hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) or difficult to distinguish from HCC. All patients underwent surgical treatment. Postoperative pathological and immunohistochemical examination can confirm the diagnosis. No patients without tumor recurrence or metastasis during follow-up period., Conclusion: Altogether, the clinical symptoms of rare BLTs lack specificity, and their preoperative diagnosis largely depends on imaging examination, with a low diagnostic accuracy rate and high chances of misdiagnosis as HCC. Background: To develop a common follow-up strategy for appropriate imaging examination at an appropriate time for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC)., Methods: Independent prognostic factors were identified by Cox regression analysis, and a nomogram model was developed. Random survival forest (RSF) model was constructed to depict probability of disease failure during a 5-year follow-up and establish a reasonable risk-based follow-up strategy., Results: The nomogram model finally categorized the patients into three risk groups. RSF model demonstrated distribution trends for local and regional recurrences, bone metastasis, liver metastasis, and lung metastasis of NPC. Adequate imaging at follow-up should be considered between 10 and 21 months for patients at moderate-risk of recurrence or metastasis and 7-36 months for those at high-risk., Conclusions: The temporal distribution of incidence rates of recurrence or metastasis varied among different risk groups. Mixed-type liver cancer is a rare kind of primary malignant liver tumor with risk factors similar to those of hepatocellular carcinoma and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, although treatment methods and prognosis differ. An early imaging diagnosis is helpful in adopting appropriate treatment strategies for mixed-type liver cancer. Since mixed-type liver cancer contains different proportions of hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma in the same lesion, imaging manifestations may vary. This paper reviews the recent literature reports, imaging characteristics, and the latest imaging diagnostic techniques in relation to the imaging diagnosis of mixed-type liver cancer.

Leiomyoma with bizarre nuclei (LBN), also known as symplastic leiomyoma, is a histological subtype of benign leiomyoma with bizarre cells and nuclear atypia. Differentiating LBN from other benign leiomyoma subtypes, uterine smooth muscle tumors of uncertain malignant potential (STUMP), or leiomyosarcoma (LMS) can be diagnostically challenging owing to overlapping features in clinical presentation and pathologic morphological analysis. The difficulty of distinguishing LBN from other lesions, especially from LMS, and the potential of LBN for subsequent malignant transformation make LBN an important topic of research. Herein, we review the definition, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of LBN. Histopathological examination is essential for distinguishing LBN from other diseases. Pathology sampling and morphological examination remain the key to diagnosis. The newly established ancillary immunohistochemical (IHC) and molecular genetic analysis can be useful tools for differential diagnosis. Furthermore, serum biomarkers and imaging examination may also be useful diagnostic tools. Attention should be paid to the differentiation between LBN and LMS because morphological diagnosis may still be challenging in some cases. Some IHC markers of LBN have been identified, which may be helpful for differential diagnosis. Furthermore, the use of IHC panels as diagnostic markers may be advocated. Molecular genetic studies suggest that some genes can aid with the differential diagnosis between LBN and LMS. However, increasing evidence support the idea that LBN and LMS are molecularly related, indicating that LBN may represent a potentially malignant stage of precancerous progression. Pulmonary large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (LCNEC) is a rare subtype of malignant pulmonary tumor. The incidence rate of LCNEC was reported to be 0.3%-3% in lung cancers. Although LCNEC is classified as non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), it is more aggressive and malignant than other NSCLC, and its biological behavior is similar to that of small cell lung cancer (SCLC). Most of the LCNEC patients are elderly smoking male and the clinical manifestations are not specific. The imaging manifestations of the tumors are often located in the periphery and the upper lobes, and the enlargement of mediastinal or hilar lymph nodes is common. The diagnosis is mainly based on pathology by the histological features and immunohistochemistry (IHC). Specific neuroendocrine markers such as chromogranin A (CgA), synaptophysin (Syn) and CD56 are usually diffusely positive in LCNEC, and found that insulinoma-associated protein (INSM1) and high rate of Ki-67 are helpful for diagnosis. More differential diagnoses also increase the difficulty of correctly diagnosing LCNEC. The rise of LCNEC molecular typing in recent years may be helpful for diagnosis and subsequent treatment. Objective: To summarize the evaluation methods of postoperative healing of supraspinatus tendon tear in recent years, in order to provide reference for clinic., Methods: CNKI, Wanfang, PubMed, and Foreign Medical Literature Retrieval Service (FMRS) databases were used to search the literatures between 2005 and 2022. The literature related to the diagnosis and postoperative healing of supraspinatus tendon tear was included. Finally, 50 articles were reviewed., Results: Supraspinatus tendon tear is a common shoulder disease. Physical examination, clinical score, and imaging examination are used to predict and evaluate the postoperative healing. Among them, physical examination and clinical score are non-invasive and the most economical methods, but their accuracy and sensitivity are lower than imaging examination, so they can only be used as auxiliary methods. The acromio-humeral distance (AHD) and upward migration index (UMI) measured by X-ray films can directly reflect the change of supraspinatus tendon thickness, but they are impossible to distinguish whether there is tear or not. Ultrasound and MRI are the main methods for the clinical diagnosis of supraspinatus tendon tear, but the commonly used MRI sequence can not accurately judge the internal healing of the tendon. Shear wave elastrography (SWE) and ultrashort-echo-time (UTE) techniques are the latest research directions in recent years, but different studies have shown opposite conclusions on the application of SWE technique. This conclusion shows that the principle of SWE technique and its relationship with tendons need to be further studied. UTE technique has good clinical effect, and the T2* value obtained by UTE technique is more accurate than that of traditional Sugaya typing, but there are still few research samples., Conclusion: AHD and UMI measured by X-ray film and T2* value measured by UTE technique can be used as effective methods for evaluating the healing of supraspinatus tendon tear after repairing, and can be used as a follow-up evaluation method combined with physical examination and clinical score for patients with supraspinatus tendon tear.

Objective: Axillary lymph node management is an important part of breast cancer surgery and the accuracy of preoperative imaging evaluation can provide adequate information to guide operation. Different molecular subtypes of breast cancer have distinct imaging characteristics. This article was aimed to evaluate the predictive ability of imaging methods in accessing the status of axillary lymph node in different molecular subtypes., Methods: A total of 2,340 patients diagnosed with primary invasive breast cancer after breast surgery from 2013 to 2018 in Jiangsu Breast Disease Center, the First Affiliated Hospital with Nanjing Medical University were included in the study. We collected lymph node assessment results from mammography, ultrasounds, and MRIs, performed receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis, and calculated the sensitivity and specificity of each test. The C-statistic among different imaging models were compared in different molecular subtypes to access the predictive abilities of these imaging models in evaluating the lymph node metastasis., Results: In Her-2 + patients, the C-statistic of ultrasound was better than that of MRI (0.6883 vs. 0.5935, p=0.0003). The combination of ultrasound and MRI did not raise the predictability compared to ultrasound alone (p=0.492). In ER/PR+HER2- patients, the C-statistic of ultrasound was similar with that of MRI (0.7489 vs. 0.7650, p=0.5619). Ultrasound+MRI raised the prediction accuracy compared to ultrasound alone (p=0.0001). In ER/PR-HER2- patients, the C-statistics of ultrasound was similar with MRI (0.7432 vs. 0.7194, p=0.5579). Combining ultrasound and MRI showed no improvement in the prediction accuracy compared to ultrasound alone (p=0.0532)., Conclusion: From a clinical perspective, for Her-2+ patients, ultrasound was the most recommended examination to assess the status of axillary lymph node metastasis. For ER/PR+HER2- patients, we suggested that the lymph node should be evaluated by ultrasound plus MRI. For ER/PR-Her2- patients, ultrasound or MRI were both optional examinations in lymph node assessment. Background: Mesenchymal-epithelial transition exon14 (METex14) skipping is one of the therapeutic driver oncogene mutations in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and can be treated with tepotinib and capmatinib. There is only one report on computed tomography (CT) findings of METex14 skipping-positive NSCLC, which shows that the primary tumor tends to have a large mass in the upper lobe, and extrathoracic metastases are common. This study examined the CT findings of METex14 skipping-positive NSCLC, focusing on the features of the margins and internal structures., Methods: We consecutively included patients with METex14 skipping-positive NSCLC who were diagnosed between January 2018 and December 2020 at four independent institutions. We retrospectively reviewed the patient demographics and CT findings for tumor margins (invasion into surrounding tissue, lobulation, pleural indentation, spicula, and ground-glass opacity) and internal structures (air bronchograms, cavitation and internal low-density area)., Results: Fifteen patients with METex14 skipping-positive NSCLC were identified. Almost half of the patients were men (7/15; 46.7%), and their median age was 75.0 years. More than half were either current or former smokers (9/15; 60.0%). A vast majority of histological subtypes were adenocarcinoma (10/15; 66.7%), followed by pleomorphic carcinoma (3/15; 20.0%) and squamous cell carcinoma (2/15; 13.3%). With regard to CT findings, most primary tumors presented as masses larger than 30 mm (12/15; 80.0%) and were located in the upper lobes (12/15; 80.0%). Invasion into surrounding tissue and presence of internal low-density areas were observed in 60.0% (9/15) and 66.7% (10/15) of the primary tumors, respectively. Additionally, their frequencies increased to 72.7% (8/11) and 90.9% (10/11) in stage III/IV cases, respectively. In lymph node metastasis, internal low-density areas were observed in 8/10 cases (80.0%). Although these two CT features were rarely observed in distant metastases at diagnosis, they became apparent with progression of the metastatic tumor size., Conclusions: METex14 skipping-positive NSCLC tumors tend to invade surrounding tissue and possess internal low-density areas. Introduction: To investigate the effectiveness of the case management mode on the application of smear-positive pulmonary tuberculosis patients., Methodology: This was a randomized control trial. A total of 70 newly diagnosed smear-positive pulmonary tuberculosis patients were recruited and been randomly divided into experimental group and control group, with 35 participants in each group. In the experimental group, patients received the tuberculosis case management mode based on the conventional management mode. In the control group, patients received the routine management mode. Background: Desmoid fibroma is a rare soft tissue tumor originating from the aponeurosis, fascia, and muscle, and it is also known as aponeurotic fibroma, invasive fibroma, or ligamentous fibroma., Aim: To investigate the clinical and imaging features of desmoid tumors of the extremities., Methods: Thirteen patients with desmoid fibroma of the extremities admitted to our hospital from October 2016 to March 2021 were included. All patients underwent computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and pathological examination of the lesion. Data on the diameter and distribution of the lesion, the relationship between the lesion morphology and surrounding structures, MRI and CT findings, and pathological features were statistically analyzed., Results: The lesion diameter ranged from 1.7 to 8.9 cm, with an average of 5.35 ± 2.39 cm. All lesions were located in the deep muscular space, with the left and right forearm each accounting for 23.08% of cases. Among the 13 patients with desmoid fibroma of the extremities, the lesions were "patchy" in 1 case, irregular in 10, and quasi-round in 2. The boundary between the lesion and surrounding soft tissue was blurred in 10 cases, and the focus infiltrated along the tissue space and invaded the adjacent structures. Furthermore, the edge of the lesion showed "beard-like" infiltration in 2 cases; bone resorption and damage were found in 8, and bending of the bone was present in 2; the boundary of the focus was clear in 1. According to the MRI examination, the lesions were larger than 5 cm (61.54%), round or fusiform in shape (84.62%), had an unclear boundary (76.92%), showed uniform signal (69.23%), inhomogeneous enhancement (84.62%), and "root" or "claw" infiltration (69.23%). Neurovascular tract invasion was present in 30.77% of cases. CT examination showed that the desmoid tumors had slightly a lower density (69.23%), higher enhancement (61.54%), and unclear boundary (84.62%); a CT value < 50 Hu was present in 53.85% of lesions, and the enhancement was uneven in 53.85% of cases. Microscopically, fibroblasts and myofibroblasts were arranged in strands and bundles, without obvious atypia but with occasional karyotyping; cells were surrounded by collagen tissue. There were disparities in the proportion of collagen tissue in different regions, with abundant collagen tissue and few tumor cells in some areas, similar to the structure of aponeuroses or ligaments, and tumor cells invading the surrounding tissues., Conclusion: Desmoid tumors of the extremities have certain imaging features on CT and MRI. The two imaging techniques can be combined to improve the diagnostic accuracy, achieve a comprehensive diagnosis of the disease in the clinical practice, and reduce the risk of missed diagnosis or misdiagnosis. Purpose: This article reviews the pathological mechanisms and progress of imaging of severe frostbite to assist in the search for targets for clinical diagnosis and treatment of severe frostbite. This review also aims to provide strong evidence for clinical diagnosis and treatment of deep frostbite., Methods: The review was based on the summary and analysis of the existing literature, and explored the pathological mechanism of deep frostbite and the advantages and disadvantages of imaging diagnostic methods., Results: According to the depth of tissue involvement, frostbite is divided into 4 levels. Severe frostbite includes Grade 3 and Grade 4 frostbite. Clinical performance evaluation and imaging diagnostic research have always been the mainstream of severe frostbite diagnosis. Imaging methods focus on vascular patency and tissue vitality. This article introduces angiography, SETCT/CT and MRA, and we summarize the advantages and disadvantages of these imaging methods. We recommend corresponding imaging modalities according to the state of frostbite patients., Conclusions: Imaging examination, especially angiography and bone scans, provide useful information for determining the diagnosis and prognosis of severe frostbite. In order to obtain a good clinical prognosis, clinicians should first perform SPECT/CT. MRA does not burden the patient's body, but the balance between cost and benefit must be considered. Ectopic spleen is a rare clinical malformation in which the spleen is relocated from its normal anatomical position to other parts of the abdomen. We report a rare case of abdominopelvic ectopic spleen caused by splenic ligament deficiency. A patient experienced intermittent pain in the left upper abdomen that was progressively aggravated. This was confirmed by comprehensive imaging examinations and postoperative pathology. We also performed a review of the literature on the current state of the field. Our data may help to improve the diagnosis and treatment of ectopic spleen.

Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) is a serious complication of ovarian stimulation. Herein, we report a rare case of strangulated internal hernia in a woman with severe OHSS following ovulation induction. A delay in the diagnosis and management of acute abdominal pain can lead to serious problems. The aim of this case report was to highlight the diagnostic difficulties of abdominal pain in women with OHSS, and emphasize the positive effects of imaging and a timely differential diagnosis in clinical practice.

Venous malformations (VMs) are common slow-flow vascular malformations, which affect almost anywhere of the body. From January 2010 to October 2019, 126 patients with VMs who had complete imaging and follow-up data were enrolled into this study, including 75 males. The initial treatment age ranged from 5 to 72 years. The role of imaging results on the choice of treatment measures and the application were summarized. In this study, we retrospectively analyzed the imaging examinations, treatment measures, and follow-up results of the patients with VMs in our clinic. In this series, imaging examinations included ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography (CT) scan and enhanced scan, percutaneous sinus angiography and three-dimensional CT imaging, plain film, CT venography, CT angiography, and digital subtraction angiography. Treatment measures included surgical excision (n = 20), sclerotherapy (n = 86, including absolute ethanol [n = 75], polidocanol [n = 8], and pingyangmycin [n = 3]), and combination treatment with intralesional copper wire retention and sclerotherapy(n = 20). After treatment, most of the lesions shrunk obviously or disappeared, and the symptoms were largely relieved. Comprehensive and accurate imaging assessment of VMs is necessary for selecting appropriate treatment. Background: In this study, we aimed to investigate the preoperative serum carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) in the diagnosis of positive lymph node metastasis (LNM), and to evaluated the relationship between CEA and survival in patients with locally advanced gastric cancer (LAGC)., Methods: The significance of the preoperative serum CEA level for the diagnose of LAGC and prediction of LNM was determined using the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. The areas under the ROC of CEA were compared with those of other tumor markers or imaging examination including CT and MRI. Logistic regression was utilized to identify the risk factors predicting positive LNM. Independent prognosis factors were evaluated using univariate and multivariate COX regression analyses., Results: The ROC curves showed that the AUCs of CEA, CA199, and CA125 for diagnosing LAGC were 0.727, 0.594, and 0.566. When used to predict LNM, the AUC of CEA, CA199 and CA125 were 0.696, 0.531, and 0.588. Logistic regression analysis demonstrated that preoperative serum CEA were significantly associated with positive LNM. On combining imaging examination with CEA, the sensitivity and specificity were 85.3 and 79.4%, respectively, with the AUC equal to 0.853. The combination of CEA and imaging examination preformed the highest levels of AUC and sensitivity for diagnosing LNM, which is significantly higher than using either of them alone. Although patients with abnormal CEA have a poor prognosis, two models of multivariate analysis showed that CEA was not the independent prognosis factor for survival., Conclusions: CEA can be used to diagnose gastric cancer and determine whether it has LNM. Moreover, combined with CEA could improve the diagnostic sensitivity of imaging examination for lymph node involvement.

The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a huge threat to global public health because it develops rapidly. There is no specific treatment so far. Chest imaging examination is an important auxiliary examination method in diagnosis of COVID-19. To further standardize the imaging examination and diagnosis of COVID-19, Hunan Society of Radiology together with Imaging Technology Professional Committee of Hunan Medical Association reach an expert consensus document on imaging examination, diagnosis, and control and prevention of nosocomial infection for COVID-19. This document summarizes the epidemiological characteristics, clinical features, imaging examination procedure, imaging findings, CT staging, the value of imaging examination, and the methods for control and prevention of nosocomial infection for COVID-19 during imaging examination. Furthermore, it extends the clinical characteristics and imaging manifestations of COVID-19 in children.

A transorbital penetrating injury by a foreign body is an extremely rare type of injury, and its severity is often difficult to estimate by examination of the superficial wound alone. Thus, such injuries are challenging for neurosurgeons to investigate and manage. We herein present a peculiar case involving a 3-year-old girl with a penetrating transorbital skull-base injury caused by a coloring pencil and discuss the anatomical location of the foreign body, radiological examination findings, diagnosis, and treatment strategy. The pencil was completely removed by manual extraction. Follow-up investigations confirmed a good outcome. Multidisciplinary cooperation, radiological examination, correct diagnosis, timely treatment, and detailed follow-up studies are necessary to manage penetrating transorbital skull-base injuries caused by foreign bodies. The orbital walls are very thin in children, and the orbital roof and superior orbital fissure are often penetrated by foreign bodies in cases such as that described herein. The anatomical location of the foreign body influences the clinical management strategy.

Spinal tuberculosis is a common manifestation of extrapulmonary tuberculosis and osteoarticular tuberculosis. Common clinical manifestations include constitutional symptoms, back pain, spinal tenderness, paraplegia, and spinal deformities. They are the common causes of paralysis and could increase the mortality in patients. Most cases of spinal tuberculosis remaining undiagnosed, and early clinical symptoms and imaging manifestations lack specificity, which explained the reason why it is difficult to identify from atypical spinal metastases, brucellosis and other diseases. The rate of missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis for spinal tuberculosis is high. If spinal tuberculosis diagnostic targets could be early detected, the therapeutic targets can be effectively treated, which can not only control the progress of the disease and shorten the course of treatment, but also reduce the economic pressure and avoid spinal deformity. Therefore, early diagnosis should be our focus. Comprehensive use of a variety of diagnostic targets can improve the early diagnosis rate of spinal tuberculosis. The medical image storage and transmission system completes the collection, storage, management, diagnosis and information processing of digital medical image information generated from digital medical devices, accumulates a large amount of data resources, and uses these valuable data resources to extract corresponding diseases. Diagnostic rules that help improve the accuracy of clinical disease diagnosis have always been the subject of medical research and management. Gastrointestinal diseases are common high-risk digestive diseases. This paper studies the imaging detection and quantitative detection and analysis of gastrointestinal diseases based on data mining, aiming to improve the accuracy of doctors' clinical diagnosis, reduce the misdiagnosis and misdiagnosis of patients' diseases, and reduce the burden on patients. With the high computing speed and computational accuracy of the computer, combined with the flexible analysis and judgment ability of the human body, the doctor can help the semi-structured and unstructured diagnosis problems. Experiments demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method.

Objective: To compare the diagnostic value of the 2015 American Thyroid Association(ATA) guidelines and the American College of Radiology Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System(ACR TI-RADS) classification for thyroid nodules. Method: Retrospective analysis of 340 cases of 386 thyroid nodules confirmed by surgery or pathology from November 2016 to November 2018 in Yan' an University Hospital was conducted, using 2015 ATA, ACR TI-RADS for classification. Histopathology or cytology was the gold standard, The receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve was plotted, using χ test to compare the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and accuracy of the two methods. Result: Sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and accuracy of ACR TI-RADS were 961%, 741%, 645%, 974%, 813%, respectively, and the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and accuracy of the 2015 ATA guidelines was 937%, 733%, 632%, 960%, 801%,respectively. There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups. The area under ACR TI-RADS and 2015 ATA guide curve is 0851 and 0839, respectively. Conclusion: Both ACR TI-RADS and 2015 ATA guidelines have high diagnostic value. Background: Internal carotid artery (ICA) pseudoaneurysms are associated with high mortality if lack of proper management. Patients with ICA pseudoaneurysms in the sphenoid sinus often visit a hospital's ear, nose and throat (ENT) department due to nasal bleeding. In such cases, simple examination and therapy will lead to misdiagnosis., Objective: This study sought to investigate the clinical characteristics, diagnostic methods and treatment of ICA pseudoaneurysms in the sphenoid sinus., Methods: Various data, including clinical features, imaging examination results, and treatment and prognosis information, were collected and analyzed for 8 patients who visited the Department of Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery of West China Hospital from March 2008 to January 2017., Results: The patients included 6 males and 2 females (ages 16 to 56 years). Repeated epistaxis was a common symptom in six of the eight patients (6/8), whereas monocular blindness and binocular blindness were observed in the other two patients. Head trauma was found to play a role in the induction of ICA pseudoaneurysms, given that five patients (5/8) exhibited a specific history of head injury. CT examination tended to result in misdiagnosis, whereas MRI and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) were helpful for obtaining a definite diagnosis with all diagnoses were confirmed via DSA. Coated stent intervention was performed in five patients, while carotid artery ligation was performed in two patients in emergency situations: one of whom exhibited paraplegia, but recovery was ultimately observed after rehabilitation. Moreover, failure of coated stent intervention in one patient was resolved via additional unilateral common carotid artery ligation. Furthermore, one patient with vision loss experienced vision restoration. One patient discontinued treatment for personal reasons and was lost to follow-up. No recurrence was observed in the other 7 patients., Conclusion: ICA pseudoaneurysms in the sphenoid sinus are uncommon. To accurately identify ICA pseudoaneurysms, collaboration between otolaryngologists and imaging specialists is essential. On the other hand, both surgical and interventional treatments can achieve good results; therefore, otolaryngologists should enhance their cooperation with neurosurgery and intervention departments. Background: The majority of ruptured intracranial aneurysms are combined with subarachnoid hemorrhage, but patients with only intracerebral hematoma without any subarachnoid hemorrhage are extremely rare., Case Presentation: The patient was hospitalized due to sudden dizziness combined with slurred speech. The patient showed considerable decreased physical activity without any nuchal rigidity. Head CT showed hematoma in the left temporal lobe, and the shape of hematoma was extremely irregular. MRI indicated the absence of any vascular malformations. The patient was diagnosed with middle cerebral artery bifurcation aneurysm in the left by head CTA. Intracranial aneurysm clip and removal of hematoma in the left temporal lobe were performed under general anesthesia. The patient did not show any significant neurological dysfunction after the surgery and was followed up for 4 months after discharge with GOS score of 5 points., Conclusions: Intracranial hematoma with irregular morphology around the lateral fissure of the brain should be considered critical in order to avoid misdiagnosis and any possibility of missed diagnosis of vascular lesions, so as to ensure an exact therapeutic strategy with good prognosis for the patients.

Ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) of the breast has no potential to metastasize, but over 20% of cases preoperatively diagnosed as DCIS are upstaged on final pathology. The rates of upstaging and the predictors for invasion on final pathology were evaluated. For 240 primary breast cancers, radiological findings on mammography, ultrasonography, and magnetic resonance imaging were investigated along with pathological and clinical information. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to identify predictors of potential invasion. Of the 240 breast cancers, 68 (28.3%) showed invasion on final pathology, and 5 (2.5%) had sentinel node metastasis. The multivariate analysis identified five independent predictors: non-mass lesions >2.4 cm on ultrasonography (odds ratio [OR] 2.84, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.02-7.95, p=0.047), comedo-type histology (OR 6.89, 95% CI 1.89-25.08, p<0.01), solid-type histology (OR 7.97, 95% CI 2.08-30.49, p<0.01), palpable mass (OR 2.63, 95% CI 1.05-6.64, p=0.04), and bloody nipple discharge (OR 4.61, 95% CI 1.20-17.66, p=0.02). Laryngeal carcinoma is a common malignant tumor in the head and neck, and the squamous cell carcinoma of the larynx is the most prevelance. In view of the importance of laryngeal function and its survival, the choice of the best therapeutic regimen of laryngeal carcinoma must consider the potential survival rate and the change of postoperative function. The margin of laryngeal carcinoma is an important index of preoperative imaging evaluation of laryngeal carcinoma. The accurate determination of the cutting edge determines the operation mode, the success rate, the survival rate and prognosis of the patients with laryngeal carcinoma.In recent years, the method of preoperative evaluation of laryngeal tumors is diverse, including molecular, imaging and endoscopy, among which preoperative imaging is the most common method.
