Sepsis is a potentially fatal condition arising from an abnormal immune response to an infection, which can result in organ failure and even death. To explore the mechanism underlying the dysregulated immune response during sepsis and identify potential therapeutic targets, single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and immune repertoire analysis were conducted to depict the cellular landscape of peripheral blood cells in septic mice. We observed significant alterations in the number and proportion of peripheral blood cell populations driven by sepsis. By combining single-cell gene expression profiles and B cell receptor (BCR) repertoire analysis, we discerned that infection inflicted serious damage on the antigen presentation ability of B cells and the diversity of BCR in a short time. In addition, we found that the cecal ligation and puncture procedure in mice inhibited the communication signals of CD4 + and CD8 + T cells and decreased the interactions between B cells and other cells. Background: Drug-coated balloon (DCB) angioplasty and drug-eluting stents (DES) are two widely used treatments for in-stent restenosis (ISR). Focal and non-focal types of ISR affect the clinical outcomes. The present study aims to compare DES reimplantation versus DCB angioplasty in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients with focal ISR and non-focal ISR lesions., Methods: Patients with ISR lesions underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) were retrospectively evaluated and divided into DES group and DCB group. The primary endpoint was the incidence of target lesion failure (TLF) at 24 months follow up. Propensity score matching (PSM) was conducted to balance the baseline characteristics., Results: For focal ISR, TLF was comparable in the DES and DCB groups at 24 months of follow-up (Before PSM, hazard ratio [HR]: 0.70; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.39-1.27; p = 0.244; After PSM, HR: 0.83; 95% CI: 0.40-1.73; p = 0.625). For non-focal ISR, TLF was significantly decreased in DES compared with DCB group (Before PSM, HR: 0.43; 95% CI: 0.29-0.63; p < 0.001; After PSM, HR: 0.33; 95% CI: 0.19-0.59; p < 0.001), which was mainly attributed to the lower incidence of clinically indicated target lesion revascularization (CD-TLR) (Before PSM, HR: 0.39; 95% CI: 0.26-0.59; p < 0.001; After PSM, HR: 0.28; 95% CI: 0.15-0.54; p < 0.001)., Conclusions: The clinical outcomes for DES and DCB treatment are similar in focal type of ISR lesions. For cathode materials of sodium-ion batteries, O3-type Ni/Fe/Mn-based (Na-NFM) layered oxides have garnered extensive attention because of high economic viability, environmental friendliness, and the potential for high energy density. Among them, Fe-rich compositions exhibit higher initial charge capacity and lower bill-of-material costs, while they fade rapidly and exhibit low initial coulombic efficiency, hindering their commercialization prospects. In this work, we investigate the failure of Fe-rich Na-NFM materials through X-ray absorption spectroscopy methods. The results reveal a combined failure mechanism that encompasses not only the conventional theory of Fe migration but also an abnormal Ni-redox deterioration, which has not yet been reported. More factors related to the failure of Fe-rich Na-NFM layered oxides are discussed in detail. These findings are expected to inspire targeted research efforts toward Fe-rich Na-NFM materials, thereby accelerating the practical application of sodium-ion batteries.

Mechanoluminescence (ML) materials, known for their ability to convert mechanical energy into light, are increasingly recognized for their potential applications, such as in intelligent stress sensing, in vivo bioimaging, and stress non-destructive monitoring. However, the low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and narrow-band emission of single-defect-induced ML materials usually limit their biological-related practical applications. Here, these limitations will be addressed by modulating the microstructure evolution in Y 3 Ga 3 MgSiO 12 :Cr 3+ through the [Si 4+ +Mg 2+ ] → [Ga 3+ +Ga 3+ ] chemical substitution strategy. Density functional theory (DFT) calculation reveals the defect types and dynamic charge migration processes. In addition, Y 3 Ga 3 MgSiO 12 : Cr 3+ with continuously distributed "shallow-deep" defects (0.68-1.61 eV) can avoid persistent luminescence (PersL) and bright-field environment interference. Herein, such high SNR near-infrared broadband ML emission may provide a reliable way for high-quality biological non-destructive sensing and detection. Background: Streptococcus gallolyticus subspecies pasteurianus (SGSP) is a rare pathogen responsible for infant sepsis and meningitis and is potentially overlooked because it is not included in routine group B streptococcal screenings. Hence, we present a case of SGSP-induced infant meningitis and sepsis, accompanied by bronchopneumonia induced by multidrug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), providing insights into the identification, management, and prognosis of this bacterial infection., Case Summary: A 45-day-old female infant presented with two episodes of high fever (maximum temperature: 39.5 °C) and two generalized grand mal seizure episodes that lasted over ten seconds and self-resolved without concomitant symptoms. Postadmission, the patient's C-reactive protein level was 40.73 mg/L, white blood cell count was 13.42 × 10 9 /L, neutrophil ratio was 78.4%, procalcitonin level was 7.89 μg/L, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) white cell count was 36 × 10 6 /L, multinucleated cell ratio was 95.2%, and protein concentration was 0.41 g/L. Blood and CSF culture revealed that the pathogen was SGSP. The bacterium was sensitive to ampicillin, furazolidone, penicillin, lincomycin, moxifloxacin, rifampicin, vancomycin, and levofloxacin but resistant to clindamycin and tetracycline. Sputum culture revealed the presence of MRSA, which was sensitive to vancomycin. The patient was diagnosed with meningitis and sepsis caused by SGSP, accompanied by bronchopneumonia induced by MRSA. Ceftriaxone (100 mg/kg/d) combined with vancomycin (10 mg/kg/dose, q6h) was given as an anti-infective treatment postadmission. After 12 days of treatment, the infant was discharged from the hospital with normal CSF, blood culture, and routine blood test results, and no complications, such as subdural effusion, were observed on cranial computed tomography. Multiple van der Waals (vdW) gaps invoke abundant opportunities for contriving artificial architectures and tailoring desired properties via the intercalation route beyond the reach of conventional concepts. Intriguingly, the electrochemical intercalation strategy can precisely and reversibly tune the intercalation stage of charged functional species. This study presents a valid structural editing protocol facilitated by electrochemical intercalation to engineer MXene interlayers, ultimately incorporating in situ constructed carbon nanotube (CNT) electric bridges for enhanced ion storage and transport pathways. The method allows for the precise modulation of electrochemical forces to tailor materials for specific applications. Deep intercalation and in situ growth processes establish robust anchoring sites and connectivity hubs between MXenes and CNTs, ensuring structural homogeneity and stability in advanced electrode materials. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of electrochemistry-mediated interlayer nanoengineering in MXenes, offering a versatile approach to design vdW heterostructures with tailored functionalities for energy storage and conversion applications. This work highlights the potential of electrochemical modulation in advancing materials engineering strategies for next-generation energy storage technologies.

Background: Tumor lysis syndrome (TLS) frequently manifests shortly after induction chemotherapy for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), with the potential for swift progression. This study endeavored to develop a nomogram to predict the risk of TLS, utilizing clinical indicators present at the time of ALL diagnosis., Methods: We retrospectively gathered data from 2243 patients with ALL, spanning December 2008 to December 2021, utilizing the clinical research big data platform of the National Center for Clinical Research on Children's Health and Diseases. The Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) method was employed to filter variables and identify predictors, followed by the application of multivariate logistic regression to construct the nomogram., Results: The LASSO regression identified six critical variables among ALL patients, upon which a nomogram was subsequently constructed. Multifactorial logistic regression revealed that an elevated white blood cell count (WBC), serum phosphorus <2.1 mmol/L, potassium <3.5 mmol/L, aspartate transaminase (AST) ≥50 U/L, uric acid (UA) ≥476μmol/L, and the presence of acute kidney injury (AKI) at the time of initial diagnosis were significant risk factors for the development of TLS in ALL patients (P<0.05). The predictive model achieved an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) of 0.824 [95 % CI (0.783, 0.865)], with an internal validation AUC of 0.859 [95 % CI (0.806, 0.912)]. The Hosmer-Lemeshow goodness-of-fit test confirmed the model's robustness (P=0.687 for the training cohort; P=0.888 for the validation cohort). Background: The neural mechanisms underlying differences in the performance of simulated arthroscopic skills across various skill levels remain unclear. Our primary objective is to investigate the learning mechanisms of simulated arthroscopic skills using functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS)., Methods: We recruited 27 participants, divided into three groups: novices (n = 9), intermediates (n = 9), and experts (n = 9). Participants completed seven arthroscopic tasks on a simulator, including diagnostic navigation, triangulation, grasping stars, diagnostic exploration, meniscectomy, synovial membrane cleaning, and loose body removal. All tasks were videotaped and assessed via the simulator system and the Arthroscopic Surgical Skill Evaluation Tool (ASSET), while cortical activation data were collected using fNIRS. Simulator scores and ASSET scores were analyzed to identify different level of performance of all participants. Brain region activation and functional connectivity (FC) of different types of participants were analyzed from fNIRS data., Results: Both the expert and intermediate groups scored significantly higher than the novice group (p < 0.001). There were significant differences in ASSET scores between experts and intermediates, experts and novices, and intermediates and novices (p = 0.0047, p < 0.0001, p < 0.0001), with the trend being experts > intermediates > novices. The intermediate group exhibited significantly greater activation in the left primary motor cortex (LPMC) and left prefrontal cortex (LPFC) compared to the novice group (p = 0.0152, p = 0.0021). Compared to experts, the intermediate group demonstrated significantly increased FC between the presupplementary motor area (preSMA) and the right prefrontal cortex (RPFC; p < 0.001). Additionally, the intermediate group showed significantly increased FC between the preSMA and LPFC, RPFC and LPFC, and LPMC and LPFC compared to novices (p = 0.0077, p = 0.0285, p = 0.0446)., Conclusion: Cortical activation and functional connectivity reveal varying levels of activation intensity in the PFC, PMC, and preSMA among novices, intermediates, and experts. Mechanoluminescence (ML) phosphors have found various promising utilizations such as in non-destructive stress sensing, anti-counterfeiting, and bio stress imaging. However, the reported NIR MLs have predominantly been limited to bulky particle size and weak ML intensity, hindering the further practical applications. For this regard, a nano-sized ZnGa 2 O 4 : Cr 3+ NIR ML phosphor is synthesized by hydrothermal method. By improving the synthesis method and regulating the chemical composition, the NIR ML (600-1000 nm) intensity of such nano-materials has been further enhanced about four times. The reasons for the ML performance difference between micro-/nano- sized phosphors also have been preliminarily analyzed. Additionally, this work probes into the ML mechanism deeply in traps' aspect from band structure and defect formation energy, which can supply significant references for a new approach to develop efficient NIR ML nanoparticles. Finally, due to excellent tissue penetration capability, nano-sized ZnGa 2 O 4 :Cr 3+ NIR ML phosphor shows great potential applications in biomedical fields such as for the detection of clinical oral diseases., (© 2024 The Author(s). The activation of peroxymonosulfate (PMS) by carbon-based catalysts is deemed to be a promising method for the degradation of refractory organic contaminants in wastewater. Herein, a Cu-doping strategy in B and N co-doped carbon nanotubes with highly dispersed BOCu sites and graphite nitrogen were successfully synthesized for activating PMS to degradate tetracycline. The best removal rate of tetracycline within 60 min (97.63 %) was obtained by the 1.5 % Cu-BNC and the degradation rate was increased by 17.9 times. The enhanced catalyst activity was attributed to the promoting the cycle of the Cu(I)/Cu(II) redox pair by the formed BOCu sites, and the accelerating the electron transfer process by the adsorption of graphitic N for PMS. The non-free radical pathway including 1 O 2 and electron transfer played a dominant role in the 1.5 % Cu-BNC/PMS system. The degradation intermediates of TC were identified and three possible degradation pathways were proposed. Further toxicity analysis of the intermediates showed that the 1.5 % Cu-BNC/PMS system had a significant effect on weakening and reducing the biological toxicity and mutagenicity of TC. Moreover, it presented an excellent degradation performance in raw natural water. Background: Nitrogen is a key factor affecting the quality of rice. Studying the impact of nitrogen fertilizer on the taste, physicochemical properties, and starch structure of Indica rice with different amylose contents is of great significance for scientifically fertilizing and cultivating high-quality rice varieties for consumption., Results: The results indicate that increasing nitrogen fertilizer application reduces the amylose content and increases the protein content, resulting in a decrease in taste quality. Simultaneously, it reduces the intergranular porosity of starch particles, improving the appearance and milling quality of rice. Compared to the N1 treatment (nitrogen fertilizer application rate of 90 kg ha -1 ), the taste of low-amylose rice (Yixiangyou 2115) and high-amylose rice (Byou 268) decreased by 14.24% and 19.79%, respectively, under N4 treatment (nitrogen fertilizer application rate of 270 kg ha -1 ). The effect of nitrogen fertilizer on low-amylose rice is mainly reflected in increased rice hardness, enthalpy value, and setback viscosity, resulting in a decline in taste. The effect of nitrogen fertilizer on high-amylose rice is mainly reflected in a decrease in peak viscosity, an increase in gelatinization temperature, and crystallinity under high nitrogen levels., Conclusion: Increasing nitrogen fertilizer application can improve the appearance and milling quality of rice, but it also leads to an increase in protein content, hardness, gelatinization enthalpy, decrease in breakdown value, and a decline in palatability. The paper describes the preparation of NiO x films using atomic layer deposition (ALD) and analyzes their hole transport properties. During the ALD process, NiO x films with varying properties were fabricated by adjusting the number of nickel pulses in the reaction. Various characterization techniques were employed to investigate the morphology, composition, optical, and electrical properties of the films prepared with different numbers of nickel pulses. The study reveals that as the number of Ni pulses increases, the content of Ni metal and Ni(OH) 2 in the NiO x films changes, and post-annealing treatment can significantly enhance the performance of the NiO x films. Finally, NiO x was used as a hole transport layer to successfully fabricate silicon solar cells, resulting in an increase in power conversion efficiency (PCE) from 17.89% to 18.89% compared to untreated cells.

Background: China has faced barriers to implementation of a population-based mammographic screening program. Breast ultrasound provides an alternative screening modality to mammography in low-resource settings. Objective: To evaluate the performance of ABUS with remote reading as the primary screening modality for breast cancer. Methods: This prospective study enrolled asymptomatic women 35-69 years old from 46 community health centers across 18 provinces representing all six regions of China from January 2021 to December 2021. Participants underwent screening ABUS as the sole breast cancer screening modality, with images acquired by a technologist at the community health center. The 3D volumetric data were transferred via cloud-based software to a single remote reading center, where examinations were interpreted independently in batches by two subspecialized breast radiologists using BI-RADS; a third radiologist at the remote reader center resolved discrepancies. Diagnostic reports were returned to the community centers, and patients sought follow-up care at local hospitals. The reference standard incorporated a combination of histopathology and 24-month follow-up. Outcomes measures included cancer detection rate, abnormal interpretation rate (AIR), sensitivity, specificity, biopsy rate, and PPV. Results: The final analysis included 5978 enrolled participants (median age, 46 years [IQR 40-52 years]) who underwent screening ABUS at the community health centers with subsequent remote reading. A total of 24 ABUS-detected cancers and two interval cancers were diagnosed. The cancer detection rate was 4.0 per 1000 women (95% CI: 2.7-5.9), and the AIR was 11.9% (95% CI: 11.1-12.7). A total of 95.8% (23/24) of ABUS-detected cancers were invasive. The 23 invasive cancers had a median diameter of 10.0 mm; 73.9% (17/23) were node-negative. Sensitivity was 92.3% (95% CI: 75.9-97.9), and specificity was 88.4% (95% CI: 87.6-89.2). The biopsy rate was 1.7% (95% CI: 1.4-2.0), and the PPV of biopsy was 24.0% (95% CI: 16.7-33.2). Conclusion: ABUS screening with remote reading met benchmark performance for cancer detection in comparison to mammography, with infrequent interval cancers. Clinical Impact: ABUS with remote reading holds promise in enhancing access to breast cancer screening and early detection in low-resource settings or underserved regions where mammographic screening is not established.

Catalytic CO 2 reduction poses a significant challenge for the conversion of CO 2 into chemicals and fuels. Ni-Fe carbon monoxide dehydrogenase ([NiFe]-CODH) effectively mediates the reversible conversion of CO 2 and CO at a nearly thermodynamic equilibrium potential, highlighting the heterobimetallic cooperation for the design of CO 2 reduction catalysts. However, numerous NiFe biomimetic model complexes have realized little success in CO 2 reduction catalysis, which underscores the crucial role of precise bimetallic configuration and functionality. Herein, we presented a heterobimetallic NiFe complex for the photocatalytic reduction of CO 2 to CO, demonstrating significantly enhanced catalytic performance compared to the homonuclear NiNi catalyst. Photocatalytic and mechanistic investigations revealed that with the assistance of a redox-active phenanthroline ligand, NiFe achieves dual-site activation of CO 2 through a pivotal intermediate, Ni II (μ-CO 2 2- -κC:κO)Fe II , where the Lewis acidity of the Fe II site plays an important role, as corroborated in the homonuclear FeFe system. This study introduces the first heteronuclear NiFe molecular catalyst capable of efficiently catalyzing the reduction of CO 2 to CO, deepening insights into heterobimetallic cooperation and offering a novel strategy for designing highly active and selective CO 2 reduction catalysts.

Hydrogels are widely used in profile control to plug high-permeability zones in oil recovery. In this study, a novel double-network (DN) hydrogel is developed for profile control. The two networks of the prepared hydrogel are polyacrylamide (PAAm) crosslinked by N,N'-Methylenebisacrylamide (MBAA) and konjac glucomannan (KGM) crosslinked by borax (B), respectively. The two networks are interconnected by their interpenetrating structures and hydrogen bonds. Based on the results of a series of evaluation experiments, the AAm/KGM DN hydrogels developed in this study exhibit a strong mechanical strength with their fracture stresses exceeding 0.137 MPa. Meanwhile, the AAm/KGM DN hydrogels can remain thermally stable after being heated at 130 °C for 24 h, indicating the good high-temperature resistance of the new sample. Moreover, the prepared AAm/KGM DN hydrogels present excellent self-healing performance due to the abundant hydrogen bonds in their structures, which helps form stable and long-term plugging in porous media. In addition, the pure PAAm hydrogel and the AAm/KGM DN hydrogel are sheared into two dispersed particle gel (DPG) suspensions to investigate their plugging performances. The results demonstrate that the AAm/KGM DN DPG can effectively plug a high-permeability sandpack with a plugging efficiency of 93.2 %, while the pure AAm DPG can only provide a much lower plugging efficiency of 60.5 %. Polyorchidism is an uncommon congenital condition often discovered incidentally, which may significantly impact male fertility. We present a case of a 34-year-old man with unilateral polyorchidism and associated severe asthenozoospermia and teratozoospermia. Despite normal hormonal levels and no detected genetic anomalies, the patient's sperm showed mitochondrial damage, and his fertility remained compromised after conservative management and assisted reproductive attempts. This case underscores the intricate relationship between polyorchidism and male infertility, highlighting the need for personalized management strategies and further research into its etiology and impact., (© 2024. Aim: Advances in circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) analysis for diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) have prompted the evaluation of its utility in other non-Hodgkin lymphomas (NHLs), leading to significant insights into its potential applications. Methods: We retrospectively studied paired plasma and tissue/bone marrow biopsies of 203 non-DLBCL NHLs [87 follicular lymphomas (FL), 64 mantle cell lymphomas (MCL), 30 chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocytic lymphomas (CLL/SLL) and 22 marginal zone lymphomas (MZL)]. Genomic profiling was performed using a targeted next generation sequencing panel (Hemasalus ™ ). Longitudinal analyses were performed to explore plasma ctDNA utility in disease monitoring. Results: High plasma ctDNA detection rates were observed across NHL subtypes (FL: 88.5%, MCL: 90.6%, CLL/SLL: 100%, MZL: 68.2%), with high concordance of actionable mutations (FL: 87.4%, MCL: 93.8%, CLL/SLL: 93.3%, MZL: 81.8%) and multiple genetic aberrations exclusively identified in plasma. Particularly, IGH-BCL2 and IGH-CCND1 fusions were concordant between plasma and tumor biopsies in FLs (91.1%) and MCLs (91.3%), respectively. Longitudinal data demonstrated that ctDNA clearance correlated with complete response but ctDNA increases preceded radiological relapses. Conclusion: ctDNA exhibited high concordance with tumor biopsy in detecting genetic aberrations and demonstrated potential as a promising noninvasive approach to disease surveillance in non-DLBCL NHLs.

In mammalian interphase cells, genomes are folded by cohesin loop extrusion limited by directional CTCF barriers. This interplay leads to the enrichment of cohesin at barriers, isolation between neighboring topologically associating domains, and elevated contact frequency between convergent CTCF barriers across the genome. However, recent in vivo measurements present a puzzle: reported residence times for CTCF on chromatin are in the range of a few minutes, while lifetimes for cohesin are much longer. Can the observed features of genome folding result from the action of relatively transient barriers? To address this question, we developed a dynamic barrier model, where CTCF sites switch between bound and unbound states with rates that can be directly compared with biophysical measurements. Using this model, we investigated how barrier dynamics would impact observables for a range of experimental genomic and imaging datasets, including ChIP-seq, Hi-C, and microscopy. We found the interplay of CTCF and cohesin binding timescales influence the strength of each of these features, leaving a signature of barrier dynamics even in the population-averaged snapshots offered by genomic datasets. First, in addition to barrier occupancy, barrier bound times are crucial for instructing features of genome folding. Second, the ratio of boundary to extruder lifetime greatly alters simulated ChIP-seq and simulated Hi-C. Third, large-scale changes in chromosome morphology observed experimentally after increasing extruder lifetime require dynamic barriers. By integrating multiple sources of experimental data, our biophysical model argues that CTCF barrier bound times effectively approach those of cohesin extruder lifetimes. Together, we demonstrate how models that are informed by biophysically measured protein dynamics broaden our understanding of genome folding.

Crispness stands as a pivotal criterion in assessing apple texture, widely cherished by consumers. Yet, owing to its multifaceted nature, crispness remains a formidable challenge in artificial enhancement efforts. To expedite the early and precise evaluation of apple crispness, this study centered on a hybrid population derived from 'Fuji' and 'Pink Lady' cultivars, showcasing segregating crispness traits. We conducted measurements of flesh water content, cellular anatomical morphology, and employed a texture analyzer to assess mechanical properties of the offspring flesh. Integrating these three dimensions, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of quantitative characteristics of apple crispness, juxtaposed with sensory evaluation. Utilizing BSA-seq technology, we scrutinized extreme phenotypic individuals, revealing QTL loci intricately linked to the aforementioned dimensions, and subsequently developed Key Allele-Specific PCR (KASP) markers. These markers underwent validation in hybrid populations of 'Hanfu' x 'Pink Lady' and 'Hanfu' x 'Honey Crisp'. Our findings underscored significant correlations between mechanical properties, water content, and cell size with crispness. Higher mechanical properties and water content, alongside smaller cell size, correlated with firmer flesh texture; moderate mechanical properties, and elevated water content and cell size, with crisper texture; whereas lower mechanical properties, water content, and cell size implied softer flesh.The study yielded KASP markers effectively reflecting flesh mechanical properties (SNP&#95;24399345), water content (SNP&#95;8667563), and cell size (SNP&#95;15566229). Comprehensive analysis of these markers identified CC-CC-TT as an effective identifier of soft flesh individuals; while GG-TC-TT and GG-CC-TT combinations better represented individuals with harder flesh. The Crunchy subclass could be discerned by combinations of GG-TC-TC, GG-TC-CC, GG-TT-TC, and GG-TT-CC. Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) often exhibits a propensity for metastasis to lymph nodes (LNs), significantly influencing prognosis. Neck dissection (ND) is an important part in the treatment of OSCC. Variations in the preference for and pathways of lymph node metastasis (LNM) in different regions of the oral cavity have been observed. Currently, there is a lack of sufficient emphasis on the anatomical perspectives of LNM and ND. This review elucidates the lymphatic system of the maxillofacial regions from an anatomical standpoint, details the distribution of the sentinel LNs across different subsites, and summarizes the various classifications of the cervical LNs. Additionally, we elaborate on the methods used to study the lymphatic system, particularly imaging techniques. Furthermore, we investigate the pathways of cervical LNM and evaluate the efficacy of ND from an anatomical viewpoint. Herein, we report a highly selective production route for butadiene from γ-valerolactone over zeolite catalysts. The catalytic performance of eight zeolites with different framework topologies were compared, revealing that zeolites with narrower 10-membered ring channels exhibit enhanced selectivity of butadiene. Specifically, ZSM-35 and ZSM-22, featuring the narrowest 10-membered ring channels, demonstrate the highest butadiene selectivity to 61 % and 59 %, respectively. Notably, surface passivation of ZSM-35 leads to a remarkable increase in butadiene selectivity to 82 %, maintaining a 99 % conversion. Additionally, we propose a reaction network and identify cyclopentenone as a key intermediate in the transformation of γ-valerolactone to butadiene. The misuse of antibiotics has led to the growing problem of multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria, and there is still a lack of effective antibacterial agents that can replace antibiotics. Therefore, the design and development of multifunctional nanomaterials with long-term inhibitory effects on drug-resistant bacteria are extremely challenging. In this study, a multifunctional biomimetic self-assembly system, BSA-ZnO&Quercetin, based on bovine serum albumin (BSA), ZnO, and quercetin, was established using a simple and controllable method. The prepared self-assembly system has high stability and biocompatibility, and could fully combine the performance advantages of each component. BSA-ZnO&Quercetin showed excellent broad-spectrum antibacterial activity without inducing bacterial resistance. The related antibacterial mechanism of BSA-ZnO&Quercetin primarily involves biofilm inhibition and destruction, and inducing the production of reactive oxygen species, resulting in the death of the bacteria. Deep-sea trenches representing an intriguing ecosystem for exploring the survival and evolutionary strategies of microbial communities in the highly specialized deep-sea environments. Here, 29 metagenomes were obtained from sediment samples collected from Kermadec and Diamantina trenches. Notably, those samples covered a varying sampling depths (from 5321 m to 9415 m) and distinct layers within the sediment itself (from 0~40 cm in Kermadec trench and 0~24 cm in Diamantina trench). Through metagenomic binning process, we reconstructed 982 metagenome assembled genomes (MAGs) with completeness >60% and contamination <5%. Within them, completeness of 351 MAGs were >90%, while an additional 331 were >80%. Phylogenomic analysis for the MAGs revealed nearly all of them were distantly related to known cultivated isolates. The abundant bacterial MAGs affiliated to phyla of Proteobacteria, Planctomycetota, Nitrospirota, Acidobacteriota, Actinobacteriota, and Chlorofexota, while the abundant archaeal phyla affiliated with Nanoarchaeota and Thermoproteota. To solve the intractable challenges of Li-S batteries, we synthesized MXene-NH 2 CNT-BiOCl- x to be used as a sulfur host. The M-N-B-10%-S electrode exhibited superior electrochemical performance. In situ XRD measurement confirmed that the M-N-B-10%-S electrode displayed good cycle stability.

Anthropogenic activities have significantly enriched P in sediments of many water bodies, with redox potential (Eh) being a key factor in controlling P adsorption or release.This study evaluates the impact of Eh on P release from sediments in the Weiyuan River, Honghu Lake, and Bao'enqiao Reservoir using reactor experiments. P speciation was further analyzed through SEDEX method. Results show that within an Eh range of -300 mV to +230 mV, more P is released from sediments into the water column. The P fractions CDB-P and Fe(II)-P exhibit the most significant changes, especially in reservoir sediments where ΔCDB-P (85.5 mg/kg) and ΔFe(II)-P (80.6 mg/kg) are the highest among the three water bodies, followed by lake sediments. As a typical tunnel oxide, Na 0.44 MnO 2 features excellent electrochemical performance and outstanding structural stability, making it a promising cathode for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). However, it suffers from undesirable challenges such as surface residual alkali, multiple voltage plateaus, and low initial charge specific capacity. Herein, an internal and external synergistic modulation strategy is adopted by replacing part of the Mn with Ti to optimize the bulk phase and construct a Ti-containing epitaxial stabilization layer, resulting in reduced surface residual alkali, excellent Na + transport kinetics and improved water/air stability. Specifically, the Na 0.44 Mn 0.85 Ti 0.15 O 2 using water-soluble carboxymethyl cellulose as a binder can realize a capacity retention rate of 94.30% after 1,000 cycles at 2C, and excellent stability is further verified in kilogram large-up applications. In addition, taking advantage of the rich Na content in Prussian blue analog (PBA), PBA-Na 0.44 Mn 1-x Ti x O 2 composites are designed to compensate for the insufficient Na in the tunnel oxide and are matched with hard carbon to achieve the preparation of coin full cell and 18650 cylindrical battery with satisfactory electrochemical performance. Peritendinous adhesion that forms after tendon injury substantially limits daily life. The pathology of adhesion involves inflammation and the associated proliferation. However, the current studies on this condition are lacking, previous studies reveal that cyclooxygenase-2 (COX2) gene inhibitors have anti-adhesion effects through reducing prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) and the proliferation of fibroblasts, are contrary to the failure in anti-adhesion through deletion of EP4 (prostaglandin E receptor 4) gene in fibroblasts in mice of another study. In this study, single-cell RNA sequencing analysis of human and mouse specimens are combined with eight types of conditional knockout mice and further reveal that deletion of COX2 in myeloid cells and deletion of EP4 gene in sensory nerves decrease adhesion and impair the biomechanical properties of repaired tendons. Furthermore, the COX2 inhibitor parecoxib reduces PGE2 but impairs the biomechanical properties of repaired tendons. Interestingly, PGE2 local treatment improves the biomechanical properties of the repaired tendons. Background: Patients with oral cancer usually experience disfigurement and dysfunction which are shared risk factors of suicide. The aim of the study was to comprehensively assess the characteristics of suicide and risk factors for suicide in patients with oral cancer., Methods: Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database was used to acquire information of patients with common malignant tumors including oral cancer from 1975 to 2020. The aim was to explore the incidence of suicide, and timing of suicide among patients with oral cancer. A Fine-Gray competing risks regression model was employed to analyze risk factors associated with suicide among patients with various demographic and tumor characteristics., Results: Totally, 7685 patients with different malignant tumors committed suicide. Among them, 203 patients with oral cancer died due to suicide, presenting a suicide rate of 54.5/100,000 person-years, which was almost 3.5 times that of the US general population and 1.5 times that of the overall US patients with cancer in our study. Approximately 18 %, 40 %, and 55 % of suicides occurred in first year, first 3 years, and first 5 years after diagnosis. Being male, White race, and having a single primary tumor might be regarded as the risk factors for suicide., Conclusion: As oral cavity is closely associated with appearance, pronunciation and ingestion, patients with oral cancer have a significant high risk of suicide. Xanthomonas species are specialized plant pathogens, often exhibiting a narrow host range. They rely on the translocation of effector proteins through the type III secretion system to colonize their respective hosts. The effector arsenal varies among Xanthomonas spp., typically displaying species-specific compositions. This species-specific effector composition, collectively termed the effectorome, is thought to influence host specialization. We determined the plant host-derived effectoromes of more than 300 deposited genomes of Xanthomonas species associated with either Solanaceae or Brassicaceae hosts. Comparative analyses revealed clear species-specific effectorome signatures. However, Solanaceae or Brassicaceae host-associated effectorome signatures were not detected. Nevertheless, host biases in the presence or absence of specific effector classes were observed. To assess whether host-associated effector absence results from selective pressures, we introduced effectors unique to Solanaceae pathogens to X. campestris pv. campestris and effectors unique to Brassicaceae pathogens to X. euvesicatoria pv. euvesicatoria (Xeue) and evaluated if these introductions hindered virulence on their respective hosts. Introducing the effector XopI into X. campestris pv. campestris reduced virulence on white cabbage leaves without affecting localized or systemic colonization. Introducing the XopAC or XopJ5 effectors into Xeue reduced virulence and colonization on tomato but not on pepper. Additionally, XopAC and XopJ5 induced a hypersensitive response on tomato leaves when delivered by Xeue or through Agrobacterium -mediated transient expression, confirming recognition in tomato. Rationale and Objectives: To compare the quality of life (QOL), cosmesis and cost-utility of open surgery (OS), vacuum-assisted breast biopsy (VABB) and high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) for fibroadenoma (FA)., Materials and Methods: A total of 162 patients with 267 FAs were enrolled. Baseline characteristics and treatment information were recorded. Patients were followed up at 3-, 6- and 12-month post-treatment. QOL was evaluated by health survey. Breast cosmesis was evaluated by self-rating survey and Harvard Scale. A decision-analytic model was established and incremental cost was calculated for cost-utility analysis., Results: For QOL evaluation, there was no difference of physical component summary (PCS) score in three groups (P > 0.05), while the mental component summary (MCS) score was significantly higher in HIFU group than the other two groups at 3- and 6-month post-treatment (P < 0.05). The proportion of patients satisfied with breast cosmesis was significantly higher in HIFU group (96.49%) than in VABB group (54.90%) and OS group (49.99%) (P < 0.05). By Harvard Scale, 27.78%, 78.42% and 100.00% of patients were rated as excellent and good in OS group, VABB group and HIFU group, respectively (P < 0.05). To acquire a quality-adjusted life year (QALY), cost of OS, VABB and HIFU was 1034.31 USD, 1776.96 USD and 1277.67 USD, respectively. Purpose: To investigate the impact of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) on postoperative delirium (PD), and evaluate the effectiveness of positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy on PD among OSA patients., Methods: We systematically searched Embase, Cochrane Library and PubMed databases from their establishment to November 27, 2022. A random-effects approach was employed to determine aggregated results. Subgroup and sensitivity analyses were carried out to investigate heterogeneity., Results: Sixteen eligible studies were included in the analysis. Thirteen studies revealed that OSA significantly elevated the likelihood of developing PD (OR = 1.71; 95%CI = 1.17 to 2.49; p = 0.005). Subgroup analysis according to delirium assessment scales showed that OSA did not exhibit an association with the incidence of PD assessed by the Confusion Assessment Method-Intensive Care Unit (OR = 1.14; 95%CI = 0.77 to 1.67; p = 0.51) but enhanced the likelihood of developing PD evaluated with other measurement scales (OR = 2.15; 95%CI = 1.44 to 3.19; p = 0.0002). Three additional studies explored the impact of PAP treatment on PD among OSA individuals, indicating no significant reduction in PD incidence with PAP use (OR = 0.58; 95%CI = 0.13 to 2.47; p = 0.46)., Conclusions: OSA may not be a risk factor for PD in critically ill patients in the intensive care unit, but may increase the likelihood of developing PD among individuals receiving regular care in the ward postoperatively. Lymph node metastasis (LNM) is a typical marker in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) indicating poor prognosis. Pathological examination by artificial image acquisition and analysis, as the main diagnostic method for LNM, often takes a week or longer which may cause great anxiety of the patient and also retard timely treatment. However, there are few efficient fast LNM diagnosis methods in clinical applications currently. Our previous study profiled the proteomics of extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from postoperative drainage fluid (PDF) and showed the potential of detecting specific EVs that expressed aspartate β-hydroxylase (ASPH) for LNM diagnosis in OSCC patients. Considering that the analysis of ASPH + PDF-EVs is challenging due to their low abundance (counting less than 10% of total EVs in PDF) and the complex EV isolation process of ultra-centrifugation, we developed a facile platform containing two microfluidic chips filled with antibody-modified microbeads to isolate ASPH + PDF-EVs, with both the capture and retrieval rate reaching around 90%. Clinical sample analysis based on our method revealed that a mean of 6 × 10 6 /mL ASPH + PDF-EVs could be isolated from LNM + OSCC patients compared to 2.5 × 10 6 /mL in LNM - OSCC ones. When combined with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technique that was commonly used in clinical laboratories in hospitals, this microfluidic platform could precisely distinguish postoperative OSCC patients with LNM or not in several hours, which were validated by a double-blind test containing 6 OSCC patients. CRISPR/Cas12a has been widely used in molecular diagnostics due to its excellent trans-cleavage activity. However, conventional reporters, such as F/Q-labeled single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) reporters, enzyme-labeled reporters, and spherical nucleic acid reporters, require complex modification or labeling processes. In this study, we have developed a rapid, universal, and label-free CRISPR/Cas12a-based biomarker detection platform via designing a G-quadruplex (G4) containing a hairpin structure as the reporter. The hairpin loop design of hairpin G4 improves the cleavage efficiency of Cas12a and the signal strength of the G4 binding ligand. Meanwhile, the incorporation of a G4 binding dye (protoporphyrin IX) eliminates the need for complex modifications. The CRISPR-hairpin G4 detection platform is capable of detecting ssDNA, double-stranded DNA, genetic RNAs, and miRNAs. Moreover, this platform achieves label-free detection in clinical samples, demonstrating its practical applicability and efficiency.

Diabetic retinopathy is a chronic disease of the eye that is precipitated via diabetes. As the disease progresses, the blood vessels in the retina are issue to modifications such as dilation, leakage, and new blood vessel formation. Early detection and treatment of the lesions are vital for the prevention and reduction of imaginative and prescient loss. A new dual-path multi-module network algorithm for diabetic retinopathy classification is proposed in this paper, aiming to accurately classify the diabetic retinopathy stage to facilitate early diagnosis and intervention. To obtain the purpose of fact augmentation, the algorithm first enhances retinal lesion features using color correcting and multi-scale fusion algorithms. It then optimizes the local records via a multi-path multiplexing structure with convolutional kernels of exclusive sizes. Finally, a multi-feature fusion module is used to improve the accuracy of the diabetic retinopathy classification model. Two public datasets and a real hospital dataset are used to validate the algorithm. The accuracy is 98.9%, 99.3%, and 98.3%, respectively. Background: This study aimed to investigate the effect of tolvaptan on metabolism and electrolyte homeostasis in patients with heart failure (HF)., Methods: Literature databases, such as PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, VIP, and WanFang Data, were systematically searched for relevant trials from inception to November 4, 2023. We used the fixed effect model to combine the effect sizes and used I 2 to test heterogeneity. Funnel plots were plotted to assess publication bias., Results: 16 studies were eligible for further analysis. No significant differences were identified in the incidence of hyperuricemia between the tolvaptan group and the placebo group (odds ratio (OR) = 1.23, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 0.97 to 1.55, p = 0.09). Tolvaptan decreased the levels of blood uric acid compared to traditional diuretics (mean difference (MD) = -82.8, 95% CI = -96.48 to -69.13, p < 0.00001). Background: Xianju wheat paste, a traditional condiment in Hubei Province, China, possesses nutritional value and a distinctive taste profile. Nevertheless, there remains a dearth of comprehensive comprehension regarding the intricate interplay between the microbial population and its nutritional profile in Xianju wheat paste., Results: It was determined that Xianju wheat paste harbors predominant microbial genera such as Bacillus, Staphylococcus and Aspergillus. The findings from high-throughput sequencing analysis revealed the presence of 11 bacterial genera in Xianju wheat paste, with relative abundances exceeding 1%. These genera included Bacillus, Staphylococcus, Brevibacterium, Lactobacillus, Allorhizobium-Neorhizobium-Pararhizobium-Rhizobium, Enterobacteriaceae, Pantoea, Brachybacterium, Klebsiella, Escherichia-Shigella and Ochrobactrum. Furthermore, six fungal genera were identified with relative abundances greater than 1%, specifically Aspergillus, Zygosaccharomyces, Cutaneotrichosporon, Candida, Millerozyma and Rhizopus. The correlation analysis indicated a significant impact of the microbial community and nutritional flavor on the second phase of fermentation in Xianju wheat paste. The predominant bacterium Bacillus in Xianju wheat paste facilitated the production of free amino acids, whereas Staphylococcus exhibited a negative correlation with free amino acid levels. The quantity of volatile compounds in Xianju wheat paste progressively increased during fermentation, with the presence of typical aroma compounds 4-vinyl-2-methoxyphenol significantly associated with Bacillus. This indicated Bacillus notably enhanced the production of aromatic substances. A comprehensive understanding of the defense strategies against nitrite by Lactiplantibacillus plantarum remains unknown. Herein, the effects of nitrite degradation process on metabolic profiling of L. plantarum PK25 were investigated by metabolomics and phenomenological measurement. A total of 633 metabolites were significantly different at 6, 12, and 24 incubation hours. Specifically, citrulline and lysine reduction facilitated strain survival by limiting cell growth. A significant reduction of unsaturated fatty acids was observed, which could induce reduced cell membrane fluidity to prevent nitrite entry. The accumulation of thymine and cytosine might be resulted from accelerated RNA expression to accelerate the repair of cells. Dopamine and ergothioneine could serve as antioxidants to prevent bacteria from oxidative stress. Furthermore, cell filamentation production, increased hydrophobicity, and altered antioxidant enzyme activity were favorable alterations made by strain. A desymmetrizing 1,2-addition of silicon nucleophiles to biaryl derivatives containing an 2,6-dicarbaldehyde-1-yl unit is reported. The reaction is catalyzed by copper with a triazolium-ion-derived N-heterocyclic carbene as the chiral ligand and makes use of an Si-B reagent as the silicon pronucleophile. The practical methodology furnishes axially chiral aromatic carbaldehydes decorated with a centrally chiral α-hydroxysilane moiety in moderate to good yields and with high enantio- as well as excellent diastereoselectivities. The silicon nucleophile always attacks at the diastereotopic face of either carbonyl group away from the ortho substituent on the phenyl ring at C1 of the 2,6-dicarbaldehyde-1-yl fragment. The resulting axially and centrally chiral products can be further converted into valuable biaryl compounds with hardly any erosion of the enantiomeric excess., (© 2024 The Authors. Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries are considered the most promising energy storage battery due to their low cost and high theoretical energy density. However, the low utilization rate of sulfur and slow redox kinetics have seriously limited the development of Li-S batteries. Herein, the electronic state modulation of metal selenides induced by the bi-metallic coupling strategy is reported to enhance the redox reaction kinetics and sulfur utilization, thereby improving the electrochemical performance of Li-S batteries. Theoretical calculations reveal that the electronic structure can be modulated by Ni-Co coupling, thus lowering the conversion barrier of lithium polysulfides (LiPSs) and Li + , and the synergistic interaction between NiCoSe nanoparticles and nitrogen-doped porous carbon (NPC) is facilitating to enhance electron transport and ion transfer kinetics of the NiCoSe@NPC-S electrodes. As a result, the assembled Li-S batteries based on NiCoSe@NPC-S exhibit high capacities (1020 mAh g -1 at 1 C) and stable cycle performance (80.37% capacity retention after 500 cycles). The special structural design and bimetallic coupling strategy promote the batteries working even under lean electrolyte (7.2 µL mg -1 ) with a high sulfur loading (6.5 mg cm -2 ). Acute lower gastrointestinal GVHD (aLGI-GVHD) is a serious complication of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Although the intestinal microbiota is associated with the incidence of aLGI-GVHD, how the intestinal microbiota impacts treatment responses in aLGI-GVHD has not been thoroughly studied. In a cohort of patients with aLGI-GVHD (n = 37), we found that non-response to standard therapy with corticosteroids was associated with prior treatment with carbapenem antibiotics and a disrupted fecal microbiome characterized by reduced abundances of Bacteroides ovatus. In a murine GVHD model aggravated by carbapenem antibiotics, introducing B. ovatus reduced GVHD severity and improved survival. These beneficial effects of Bacteroides ovatus were linked to its ability to metabolize dietary polysaccharides into monosaccharides, which suppressed the mucus-degrading capabilities of colonic mucus degraders such as Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron and Akkermansia muciniphila, thus reducing GVHD-related mortality. Background: Family with sequence similarity 109, member B (FAM109B) is involved in endocytic transport and affects genetic variation in brain methylation. It is one of the important genes related to immune cell-associated diseases. In the tumor immune system, methylation can regulate tumor immunity and influence the maturation and functional response of immune cells. Whether FAM109B is involved in tumor progression and its correlation with the tumor immune microenvironment has not yet been disclosed., Methods: A comprehensive pan-cancer analysis of FAM109B expression, prognosis, immunity, and TMB was conducted. The expression, clinical features, and prognostic value of FAM109B in low-grade gliomas (LGG) were evaluated using TCGA, CGGA, and Gravendeel databases. The expression of FAM109B was validated by qRT-PCR, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and Western blotting (WB). The relationship between FAM109B and methylation, Copy Number Variation (CNV), prognosis, immune checkpoints (ICs), and common chemotherapy drug sensitivity in LGG was explored through Cox regression, Kaplan-Meier curves, and Spearman correlation analysis. FAM109B levels and their distribution were studied using the TIMER database and single-cell analysis. The potential role of FAM109B in gliomas was further investigated through in vitro and in vivo experiments., Results: FAM109B was significantly elevated in various tumor types and was associated with poor prognosis. Its expression was related to aggressive progression and poor prognosis in low-grade glioma patients, serving as an independent prognostic marker for LGG. Glioma grade was negatively correlated with FAM109B DNA promoter methylation. Immune infiltration and single-cell analysis showed significant expression of FAM109B in tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs). The expression of FAM109B was closely related to gene mutations, immune checkpoints (ICs), and chemotherapy drugs in LGG. In vitro studies showed increased FAM109B expression in LGG, closely related to cell proliferation. In vivo studies showed that mice in the sh-FAM109B group had slower tumor growth, slower weight loss, and longer survival times., Conclusions: FAM109B, as a novel prognostic biomarker for low-grade gliomas, exhibits specific overexpression in TAMs and may be a potential therapeutic target for LGG patients., (© 2024. Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs) and angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) are commonly used antihypertensive drugs. However, the impact that the use of ACEI and ARB drugs will have on the survival of patients with hypertension and cancer is still unclear. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the effects of ACEI and ARB use on the survival of patients with cancer. The Embase, PubMed and Web of Science databases were used to systematically analyze the survival of hypertensive patients with cancer treated with ACEIs or ARBs. Hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated to evaluate the association between ACEI and ARB use and patient survival. The relationship between the survival of patients with certain types of cancer and ACEI and ARB use was evaluated using the calculated HRs. Patients with ovarian, pancreatic, prostate, hepatocellular, lung, esophageal, gastric, colon, nasopharyngeal, head and neck tumors, gallbladder and rectal cancers that used ACEI and ARB analogs had significantly increased survival times, except for patients with breast cancer (HR, 1.04; 95% CI, 0.90-1.19; P<0.01) and uroepithelial carcinoma (HR, 1.15; 95% CI, 0.69-1.94; P<0.01), who had significantly decreased survival times, when compared with patients who did not use these drugs. Analysis of the relationship between the use of ACEIs or ARBs alone or in combination on the overall survival of hypertensive patients with cancer demonstrated that the use of ACEIs alone (HR, 1.00; 95% CI, 0.93-1.08; P<0.01) did not have a significant effect on the survival of these patients. By contrast, the survival time was increased in hypertensive patients with cancer who used either ARBs alone (HR, 0.89; 95% CI, 0.84-0.94; P<0.01) or a combination of ACEIs and ARBs (HR, 0.84; 95% CI, 0.78-0.91; P<0.01). The present meta-analysis demonstrated the potential effects of ACEI and ARB use on the overall survival of patients with cancer. Background: Cystathionine accumulates selectively in 1p/19q-codeleted gliomas, and can serve as a possible noninvasive biomarker. This study aims to optimize the echo time (TE) of point-resolved spectroscopy (PRESS) for cystathionine detection in gliomas, and evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of PRESS for 1p/19q-codeletion identification., Methods: The TE of PRESS was optimized with numerical and phantom analysis to better resolve cystathionine from the overlapping aspartate multiplets. The optimized and 97 ms TE PRESS were then applied to 84 prospectively enrolled patients suspected of glioma or glioma recurrence to examine the influence of aspartate on cystathionine quantification by fitting the spectra with and without aspartate. The diagnostic performance of PRESS for 1p/19q-codeleted gliomas were assessed., Results: The TE of PRESS was optimized as (TE1, TE2) = (17 ms, 28 ms). The spectral pattern of cystathionine and aspartate were consistent between calculation and phantom. The mean concentrations of cystathionine in vivo fitting without aspartate were significantly higher than those fitting with full basis-set for 97 ms TE PRESS (1.97 ± 2.01 mM vs. 1.55 ± 1.95 mM, p < 0.01), but not significantly different for 45 ms method (0.801 ± 1.217 mM and 0.796 ± 1.217 mM, p = 0.494). The cystathionine concentrations of 45 ms approach was better correlated with those of edited MRS than 97 ms counterparts (r = 0.68 vs. 0.49, both p < 0.01). The sensitivity and specificity for discriminating 1p/19q-codeleted gliomas were 66.7% and 73.7% for 45 ms method, and 44.4% and 52.5% for 97 ms method, respectively., Conclusion: The 45 ms TE PRESS yields more precise cystathionine estimates than the 97 ms method, and is anticipated to facilitate noninvasive diagnosis of 1p/19q-codeleted gliomas, and treatment response monitoring in those patients. The ultrafine cellular structure promotes the extraordinary mechanical performance of metals manufactured by laser powder-bed-fusion (L-PBF). An in-depth understanding of the mechanisms governing the thermal stability of such structures is crucial for designing reliable L-PBF components for high-temperature applications. Here, characterizations and 3D discrete dislocation dynamics simulations are performed to comprehensively understand the evolution of cellular structures in 316L stainless steel during annealing. The dominance of screw-type dislocation dipoles in the dislocation cells is reported. However, the majority of dislocations in sub-grain boundaries (SGBs) are geometrically necessary dislocations (GNDs) with varying types. The disparity in dislocation types can be attributed to the variation in local stacking fault energy (SFE) arising from chemical heterogeneity. The presence of screw-type dislocations facilitates the unpinning of dislocations from dislocation cells/SGBs, resulting in a high dislocation mobility. In contrast, the migration of SGBs with dominating edge-type GNDs requires collaborative motion of dislocations, leading to a sluggish migration rate and an enhanced thermal stability. This work emphasizes the significant role of dislocation type in the thermal stability of cellular structures. Fixed Drug Eruptions (FDE) represent a distinctive type of adverse drug reaction, typically characterized by recurring, sharply demarcated skin lesions occurring at identical sites with each administration of the causative drug. A less frequent, albeit significant manifestation of FDE, is balanoposthitis, an inflammatory condition affecting the glans penis and prepuce. This rare case report explores the clinical presentation, diagnosis, and therapeutic management of FDE-induced balanoposthitis in a 34-year-old male patient who developed this condition following azithromycin administration to treat a pulmonary infection. The patient's distinctive symptoms, coupled with a medical history of similar antibiotic-induced reactions, pointed strongly towards an FDE diagnosis. Management entailed immediate discontinuation of the offending drug and initiation of symptomatic treatment, culminating in a positive therapeutic outcome. This case illuminates the potential of commonly prescribed medications, such as antibiotics, to incite balanoposthitis via FDE. It underscores the critical need for healthcare professionals to include FDE in their differential diagnosis for balanoposthitis, especially when patient exposure to high-risk medications is evident. Furthermore, the report emphasizes the pressing requirement for additional research to elucidate the pathogenesis of FDE-induced balanoposthitis and to devise effective therapeutic and preventive measures., (© 2023. Near-infrared (NIR) light powdered CO 2 photoreduction reaction is generally restricted to the separation efficiency of photogenerated carriers and the supply of active hydrogen (*H). Herein, the study reports a retrofitting hydrogenated MoO 3-x (H-MoO 3-x ) nanosheet photocatalysts with Ru single atom substitution (Ru@H-MoO 3-x ) fabricated by one-step solvothermal method. Experiments together with theoretical calculations demonstrate that the synergistic effect of Ru substitution and oxygen vacancy can not only inhibit the recombination of photogenerated carriers, but also facilitate the CO 2 adsorption/activation as well as the supply of *H. Compared with H-MoO 3-x , the Ru@H-MoO 3-x exhibit more favorable formation of *CHO in the process of *CO conversion due to the fast *H generation on electron-rich Ru sites and transfer to *CO intermediates, leading to the preferential photoreduction of CO 2 to CH 4 with high selectivity. The optimized Ru@H-MoO 3-x exhibits a superior CO 2 photoreduction activity with CH 4 evolution rate of 111.6 and 39.0 µmol g catalyst -1 under full spectrum and NIR light irradiation, respectively, which is 8.8 and 15.0 times much higher than that of H-MoO 3-x . Background: Studies have shown an association between the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index and carotid artery plaque (CAP). However, the relationship between the TyG index and plaque burden in individuals with primary hypertension remains uncertain. Our study specifically aimed to explore this relationship among primary hypertension patients., Methods: This study involved 5,153 hospitalized patients diagnosed with primary hypertension who were undergoing treatment at the Affiliated Hospital of Jiangxi University of Chinese Medicine. We utilized multivariate logistic regression, penalized spline regression, and generalized additive models to assess the association between the TyG index and CAP burden., Results: There were 2,400 patients with primary hypertension in all. The multivariate study, which took into account all covariables, showed a positive correlation between the TyG index and CAP (OR: 1.25, 95% CI: 1.04-1.5). When the TyG index was evaluated as quartiles, the risk of CAP in the Q3 and Q4 levels of the TyG index were 1.4 (95% CI: 1.03-1.91) and 1.54 (95% CI: 1.11-2.14) times greater than in the Q1 level after adjusting for all covariables ( P for trend < .05). Regardless of whether the TyG index was used as a continuous variable or a categorical variable, it has no significant association with the risk of single plaque after adjusting for all confounders ( p  ≥ .05). The TyG index was found to be substantially correlated with the presence of multiple plaques when analyzed as a continuous variable (OR: 1.32, 95% CI: 1.09-1.59, p  = .004). When the TyG index was evaluated as quartiles, the adjusted OR in Q3 and Q4 were 1.49 (95% CI: 1.06-2.1) and 1.67 (95% CI: 1.16-2.41), respectively, with Q1 as reference ( P for trend = .005). The relationship between the TyG index and the presence of multiple plaques is also consistent in all subgroups., Conclusion: The TyG index is positively associated with the presence of multiple plaques in patients with primary hypertension, whereas no association is found between the TyG index and the presence of a single carotid plaque.
