Objective: The identification of risk factors is crucial for the clinical prevention and diagnosis of necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC). Monochorionic twins (MCT), due to the high genetic homogeneity, provided a valuable model for investigating the risk factors of various diseases. This study aimed to explore the risk factors for NEC using MCT., Methods: A retrospective review was conducted on the medical records of monochorionic twins (MCT) treated at Guangzhou Women and Children's Medical Center from January 2012 to March 2023. We compared perinatal condition, feeding and preceding condition between MCT pairs with NEC (NEC MCT) and without NEC(No NEC MCT).Logistic regression analysis was utilized to identify independent risk factors., Result: In 85 pairs of monochorionic twins (MCT), NEC occurred in one twin in 78.8% of cases, whereas both twins were affected in 21.2% of cases. In the final cohort of 60 pairs of MCT, several parameters were found to differ significantly between NEC MCT group and No NEC MCT group. Compared to No NEC MCT group, the incidence of umbilical cord abnormalities was significantly higher in the NEC MCT group (25% vs. 8.3%, P = 0.014). Meanwhile, NEC MCT group showed higher prevalence of SGA infants (48.3% vs. 21.7%, P = 0.002) and sFGR (38.3% vs. 6.7%, P = 0.000). Furthermore, TTTs (13.3% vs. 3.3%, P = 0.027) and septicemia (25% vs. 5%, P = 0.002) were more common in NEC MCT group. In a multivariable logistic regression model, sFGR (OR 6.81,95%CI 2.1-21.9, p = 0.001) was eventually output as an independent risk factor., Conclusion: Non-genetic factors play a predominant role in the pathogenesis of NEC. When designing the internals of robotic fish, variations in the internal arrangements of power and control systems cause differences in external morphological structures, particularly the positions of maximum thickness. These differences considerably affect swimming performance. This study examines the impact of the topological structure of self-propelled fish-like swimmers on hydrodynamic performance using fluid-structure interaction techniques. Fish-like swimmers with maximum thickness closest to the head exhibit optimal swimming performance, characterized by modest energy consumption for fast-response acceleration during the starting phase and higher swimming velocity for high-speed travel during steady swimming. As the maximum thickness moves toward the middle, acceleration performance significantly weakens and swimming speed decreases, although maximum energy consumption is relatively reduced. Background: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder, primarily characterized by motor impairments. Vitamin D has several regulatory functions in nerve cell survival and gene expression via its receptors. Although research has shown that vitamin D deficiency is prevalent among PD patients, the causal link to PD risk remains unclear. This study aims to investigate the causal relationship between vitamin D and PD using a bidirectional two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis method., Methods: This study applied a bidirectional two-sample MR analysis to explore the causal link between vitamin D and PD. We selected statistically significant single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) related to 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) as instrumental variables (IVs), ensuring no association with known confounders. The analysis used GWAS data from over 1.2 million Europeans across four major published datasets, elucidating the genetic correlation between vitamin D levels and PD., Results: We identified 148 instrumental SNPs associated with 25(OH)D. After adjustment for confounding-related SNPs, 131 SNPs remained in the analysis. Data from three PD cohorts revealed no significant correlation between 25(OH)D levels and PD risk using the IVW method (Pcohort1 = 0.365, Pcohort2 = 0.525, Pcohort3 = 0.117). The reverse MR analysis indicated insufficient evidence of PD causing decreased vitamin D levels (P = 0.776)., Conclusion: This is the first study to use bidirectional MR across three PD cohorts to investigate the causal relationship between vitamin D and PD. The results indicate that vitamin D levels are not significantly causally related to PD risk at the genetic level. Therefore, future studies should exercise caution when investigating the relationship between vitamin D levels and PD risk. While no direct causal link exists between vitamin D levels and PD, this does not preclude the potential of vitamin D levels as a biomarker for PD diagnosis. The existing mechanical and grouting anchors mostly use the expansion shell method to form a cavity on the borehole wall, and the cement slurry is poured to form multiple enlarged head plates, but the operation is more difficult and the diameter of the formed plate is smaller. In this paper, a new type of large-diameter multi-plate soil anchor and its reaming cavity forming tool are proposed, which can make the operation easier and form a large-diameter enlarged head plate. In order to study the influence of the diameter of anchor plate, the number of anchor plates and the spacing of anchor plates on the vertical uplift capacity of the large-diameter multi-plate soil anchor, 25 sets of comparative models were established for simulation analysis. The finite difference method of FLAC 3D software is used to simulate the model. It is found that when the length of the anchor is 6 m and the diameter of the anchor rod body is 150 mm, the optimal diameter of the anchor plate of the large diameter multi-plate soil anchor is 590 mm, the optimal number of anchor plates is 6, and the optimal anchor plate spacing is 800 mm, which means the action range of the anchor plate on the lower soil is about 5 times the diameter of the bolt. When the number of anchor plates is too small or the spacing between anchor plates is too large, the structural advantages of large-diameter multi-plate soil anchor cannot be fully utilized, resulting in a decrease in the ultimate uplift capacity. When the number of anchor plates is too large or the spacing between anchor plates is too small, the stress superposition effect occurs in the soil, and the through shear failure occurs, which leads to the decline of the ultimate uplift capacity. Under the condition that the number of anchor plates and the spacing of anchor plates are fixed, the larger the diameter of the anchor plate is, the larger the ultimate pull-out capacity of the large-diameter multi-plate soil anchor is, the smaller the vertical failure displacement of the anchor head is, but the increase of the uplift capacity is gradually reduced. The creep rate of the new large-diameter multi-plate soil anchor bolt is 0.91 mm, and the creep rate of equal-diameter soil anchor bolt is 1.69 mm. Background: Neoantigen-targeting therapies including personalized vaccines have shown promise in the treatment of cancers, particularly when used in combination with checkpoint blockade therapy. At least 100 clinical trials involving these therapies have been initiated globally. Accurate identification and prioritization of neoantigens is crucial for designing these trials, predicting treatment response, and understanding mechanisms of resistance. With the advent of massively parallel DNA and RNA sequencing technologies, it is now possible to computationally predict neoantigens based on patient-specific variant information. However, numerous factors must be considered when prioritizing neoantigens for use in personalized therapies. Complexities such as alternative transcript annotations, various binding, presentation and immunogenicity prediction algorithms, and variable peptide lengths/registers all potentially impact the neoantigen selection process. There has been a rapid development of computational tools that attempt to account for these complexities. While these tools generate numerous algorithmic predictions for neoantigen characterization, results from these pipelines are difficult to navigate and require extensive knowledge of the underlying tools for accurate interpretation. This often leads to over-simplification of pipeline outputs to make them tractable, for example, limiting prediction to a single RNA isoform or only summarizing the top ranked of many possible peptide candidates. In addition to variant detection, gene expression, and predicted peptide binding affinities, recent studies have also demonstrated the importance of mutation location, allele-specific anchor locations, and variation of T-cell response to long versus short peptides. Due to the intricate nature and number of salient neoantigen features, presenting all relevant information to facilitate candidate selection for downstream applications is a difficult challenge that current tools fail to address., Results: We have created pVACview, the first interactive tool designed to aid in the prioritization and selection of neoantigen candidates for personalized neoantigen therapies including cancer vaccines. pVACview has a user-friendly and intuitive interface where users can upload, explore, select, and export their neoantigen candidates. C1q/TNF-related protein 13 (CTRP13) is a secreted adipokine that has been shown to play an important role in a variety of cardiovascular diseases. However, the effect of CTRP13 on ferroptosis of endothelial cells and its underlying mechanism remain unclear. In the present study, we analyzed the effects of CTRP13 on endothelial dysfunction in high-lipid-induced ApoE -/- mice and ox-LDL-induced mouse aortic endothelial cells (MAECs). In vivo experiment: Male ApoE -/- mice fed high fat were given C1ql3 gene overexpression adeno-associated virus. The atherosclerotic plaque size, lipid content, collagen fiber proportion and iron deposition level were measured. In vitro, CTRP13 combined with ox-LDL was used to pretreat MAECs to detect cell survival rate, lipid peroxidation, iron ion deposition and mitochondrial level. In this study, CTRP13 was found to inhibit ferroptosis of endothelial cells, demonstrated by up-regulated the expression of ferroptosis protective protein glutathione Peroxidase 4 (GPX4), and decreased the expression of acyl-CoA synthetase long-chain family member 4 (ACSL4) protein. Mechanistically, gtp cyclohydrolase 1(GCH1) silencing or tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4) inhibiting may counteract the protective effect of CTRP13 on ox-LDL-induced ferroptosis of endothelial cells, which is characterized by decreased cell activity, mitochondrial damage, increased iron ion deposition and lipid peroxidation, decreased GPX4 expression, and increased ACSL4 expression. This study demonstrated for the first time that CTRP13 can improve mitochondrial oxidative stress, inhibit ferroptosis of endothelial cells and improve endothelial cell dysfunction by activating the GCH1/BH4 signaling pathway, thereby inhibiting the progression of atherosclerosis., (Copyright © 2024. Layered Na-birnessites are promising cathode materials for aqueous sodium-ion batteries due to their high theoretical capacity, low cost, and environmental benignity. However, the general O'3 Na-birnessites possess low Na content and dominant inactive {001} exposed facets, which compromise their Na storage capability and cycling stability. Herein, we develop a high-Na-content P'3-Na 0.71 MnO 2 ·0.15H 2 O with highly enriched {010} active facets by a hydrothermal conversion method. In comparison with the O'3 Na-birnessite, the P'3 Na-birnessite with a high ratio of {010}/{001} exposed facets provides greatly increased open channels for Na + diffusion, while the P'3 stacking affords a lower Na + diffusion barrier, resulting in improved electrode kinetics with a large specific capacity of 176 mAh g -1 at 0.2 A g -1 . More importantly, the P'3 Na-birnessite manifests solo Na + intercalation/deintercalation with extraordinary cycling stability in an aqueous electrolyte, achieving 90.5% capacity retention after 60,000 cycles. When coupled with the NaTi 2 (PO 4 ) 3 anode, the P'3 Na-birnessite-based full cell delivers both high energy density and long cycle life, demonstrating the potential application in aqueous sodium-ion batteries. This study demonstrates an efficient method to prepare high-Na-content P'3 birnessite with tunable exposed facets and provides important insights into developing highly stable layered cathodes for sustainable aqueous sodium-ion batteries.

In the potato mechanical planting industry, the high multi-seeding rate and miss-seeding rate are problems that exist in many potato precision seed metering devices. The main potato seeds in China are cut potatoes with different shapes and sizes. However, there is a lack of research on precision seeding technology for cut potatoes, and the adaptability of many existing potato seeding devices on cut potato is poor. The mechanized precision seeding of potato can effectively reduce labor consumption, improve the seeding effect (decrease multi-seeding rate and miss-seeding rate), improve the improve production of potato per acre and improve the quality commodity potatoes. In response to the above issues, a precision seed metering device with novel scoops, which can adapt to various sizes and shapes of cut potatoes, was developed. In this study, the different seed collecting scenarios (SCSs) were constructed. Through the statics and kinematic analysis, the excess seeds removing (ESR) process was divided in to three areas. The kinematic model of seed potato was established to study the influence of different SCSs and sprocket rotational speeds on the ESR performance, and preliminary determined the appropriate sprocket rotational speed range for ESR process. Then, the coupled simulation results of EDEM and RecurDyn revealed that different sprocket speeds and SCSs had a significant influence on the ESR performance. Finally, the bench tests and field tests were conducted to verify the actual performance of the precision seed metering device. The results showed that, with the increase of the sprocket rotational speed, the ESR performance of the device improved, the multi-seeding rate significantly decreased, but the miss-seeding rate increased. High sprocket rotational speed will remove more seed potatoes and cause high miss-seeding rate. The bench tests showed the appropriate sprocket rotational speed for medium and large potato was 35 r/ min. The field tests obtained the best qualified-seeding rate of 91.54%, the miss-seeding rate of 3.08% and the multi-seeding rate of 5.38%. Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a highly aggressive subtype with limited therapeutic options, often exhibiting resistance to standard radiotherapy (RT) and chemotherapy. Recent advancements in nanomedicine provide an opportunity to enhance treatment efficacy through innovative drug delivery systems and radiosensitizers. In this study, we present a novel nanotheranostic platform, MOs-G@DOX, engineered to enhance the therapeutic efficacy of RT in the treatment of TNBC. This platform consists of gadolinium-containing mesoporous organosilica nanoparticles (MOs-G) that serve a dual function as a drug carrier and a radiosensitizer. The MOs-G were synthesized via a surfactant-mediated sol-gel process, followed by gadolinium incorporation through nanoprecipitation. The antitumor drug doxorubicin (DOX) was subsequently loaded into the mesoporous structure, forming the MOs-G@DOX nanoplatform. Comprehensive in vitro and in vivo studies demonstrated that MOs-G@DOX exhibits excellent biocompatibility and significantly enhances the radiosensitivity of TNBC cells, leading to superior tumor growth inhibition compared to conventional treatments. The stability of MOs-G, with minimal gadolinium ion leakage, further underscores its potential as a safe and effective nanomedicine. Additionally, the combination of MOs-G@DOX with RT showed a marked increase in reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and tumor cell apoptosis, which were confirmed through histological analyses. Recent studies have demonstrated that monocropping of flue-cured tobacco can lead to various issues, including nutrient deficiencies, accumulation of allelopathic substances, and disturbance in soil microbial flora. While diversification in cropping systems has proven effective in alleviating monocropping barriers, however, further exploration is needed to understand the potential microbial mechanisms involved in this process. In our study, we set five cropping systems (RR: rice monocropping; TR: tobacco-rice rotation over 20 years; TRA: tobacco-rice-astragalus rotation; TRW: tobacco-rice-wheat rotation; TRO: tobacco-rice-oilseed rape rotation) to explore the impact on crop yield and quality, soil chemical properties, and microbial diversity. The results showed that the yield and gross margin were significantly decreased. Following diversification in cropping systems, particularly after implementing the TRA treatment, the yield and gross margin increased by 27.35% and 38.67%, respectively, compared to the TR treatment. Additionally, the presence of tobacco in the soil resulted in acidification, reduced soil fertility, and suppression of soil microorganism diversity and metabolite abundance. With diversification in cropping systems, there was an increase in soil pH, carbon and nitrogen cycle enzyme activities, and the relative abundance of beneficial microorganisms (acidobacteria, nitrospirillum, and ascomycota) and soil metabolites. Diversification in cropping systems has the potential to increase crop biomass, soil fertility, and soil microbial environment. Micron porous silicon (MPSi) is a promising lithium-ion battery (LIB) anode that can provide enough space to effectively alleviate the volume expansion and large number of transmission channels to rapidly transport the Li-ions. However, a long-term stable MPSi anode at high current density is still a great challenge. Herein, a double-regulated formicarium like-MPSi composite using the surface hard-soft titanium dioxide-few layered MXene nanotemplate (FMPSi@TiO 2 @FMXene) was designed and synthesized via an in situ assembly strategy as long-life LIB anode. Such hard-soft TiO 2 -FMXene nanoencapsulation can collaboratively tune the internal/external stress, inhibit the volume expansion, reduce the interfacial reactions, and improve the electrical conductivity of MPSi, resulting in the great enhancement of structural stability and electrochemical performance in cycling even at high current density. Especially, this FMPSi@TiO 2 @FMXene anode exhibits a high reversible capacity of 1254.9 and 970.4 mAh/g after 500 cycles at 0.5 and 1 A/g, respectively. Moreover, a full cell is assembled with the FMPSi@TiO 2 @FMXene anode and commercial LiFePO 4 (LFP) cathode, exhibiting a high capacity retention rate of 91.6% in 100 cycles. This work provides an effective surface nanoengineering tactic to obtain the structurally stable MPSi anodes by hard-soft nanotemplate for large-scale and long-term LIB application.

a new benzodioxole derivative 1,3-benzodioxole-2-one-4- N -methylcarboxylamide ( 1 ), two new natural products N -(aminocarbonyl)-2,3-dimethoxy-benzamide ( 2 ) and 2,3-dimethoxy- N -methylbenzamide ( 3 ), along with eight known compounds ( 4 - 11 ), were isolated from the marine-derived Streptomyces sp. SYPHU 0002. The structures of compounds 1 - 11 were determined through comprehensive spectroscopic analyses, including HRESIMS, 1D and 2D NMR. Compound 9 showed weak antibacterial activity against Bacillus pumilus with the MIC value of 64 μg mL -1 .

Study Design: Retrospective case series study., Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the clinical efficacy of TARP technique for treating IAAD caused by old odontoid fracture and assess the outcomes of patients who underwent TARP technique over 2 years of follow-up., Methods: Between January 2005 and September 2017, 56 patients with IAAD caused by old odontoid fractures were treated with TARP technique. Patients' clinical, radiological, and surgical data were retrospectively analyzed. Radiological parameters included the atlantodental interval (ADI) and the space available for the spinal cord (SAC) were measured. Occipitocervical pain levels and neurologic status were evaluated with Visual Analog Scale (VAS) and Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) score respectively. Degree of cervical dysfunction was assessed by Neck Disability Index (NDI). Fusion status was evaluated by images during the follow-ups., Results: Surgeries for 56 cases were performed successfully with no injury to the spinal cord, nerve, or blood vessels. All patients achieved satisfactory reduction and fixation. Clinical symptomatic relief was obtained in all cases (100%). Patients were followed up for an average of 33.9 ± 9.6 months (ranged 24-60 months). Improvements in the postoperative ADI, SAC, VAS, JOA score and NDI were significant ( P < .05). Besides, Bone fusion was observed in all patients. The repair of traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI) remains a challenge due to the non-regenerative nature of functional neurons in adults. Neural stem cell (NSC)-based therapy has emerged as a promising approach for the treatment of SCI by replacing the damaged neurons with differentiated stem cells. However, directing the neuronal differentiation of implanted stem cells in the injury microenvironment is of great difficulty, especially considering that SCI is generally associated with severe fibrotic tissue infiltration, neuron inflammation, and tissue adhesion. Here, we propose a dual functional Janus film capable of preventing tissue adhesion and promoting the neuronal differentiation of stem cells for the treatment of SCI. The Janus film is composed of a layer of polylactic acid (PLA) and a layer of chitosan (CS) grafted with IKVAV peptides. The PLA layer prevents the invasion of the fibrotic tissue, while the IKVAV peptide-grafted CS layer offers support for NSC implantation and thus the neuronal differentiation of the NSCs. When serving as the dura patch, the Janus films seeded with NSCs promote the recovery of motor function and the regeneration of the injured spinal cord tissue of SCI rats. This dual functional Janus film holds great promise for treating SCI in combination with stem cell therapy.

Herein, we describe a chemoenzymatic and diversity-oriented approach for the first syntheses of octasaccharide repeating units of the capsular polysaccharides of Haemophilus parasuis serovar 15 and serovar 5. The synthetic method features efficient enzymatic assembly of sialyl galactose or N -acetyl-galactosamine building blocks, highly stereoselective chemical construction of α-type H -phosphonate, and the β-stereospecific 1,3-glycosylation reaction of a rare sugar donor.

Cross-species studies are important for a comprehensive understanding of brain functions. However, direct quantitative comparison of behaviors across species presents a significant challenge. To enable such comparisons in perceptual decision-making, we developed a synchronized evidence accumulation task for human and non-human animals, by aligning mechanics, stimuli, and training. The task was readily learned by rats, mice and humans, with each species exhibiting qualitatively similar performance. Quantitative model comparison revealed that all three species employed an evidence accumulation strategy, but differed in speed, accuracy, and key decision parameters. Human performance prioritized accuracy, whereas rodent performance was limited by internal time-pressure. Rats optimized reward rate, while mice appeared to switch between evidence accumulation and other strategies trial-to-trial. Together, these results reveal striking similarities and species-specific priorities in decision-making. Background: Stress urinary incontinence (SUI), a common disorder of the pelvic floor, often results in anxiety, poor quality of life, and psychological issues among its sufferers. The relationship between lipid accumulation products (LAP) and stress-related urine incontinence remains unclear. This research aimed to investigate any possible correlation between the risk of SUI and the level of lipid accumulation products., Methods: For this cross-sectional research, people with SUI who were 20 years of age or older were recruited using information from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 2005 to 2018. A weighted multivariate logistic regression model was used to evaluate the findings. As a potential biomarker, lipid accumulation product levels were sorted among individuals in ascending order and subjected to a trend test (P for trend). Additionally, a nonlinear analysis was conducted using smooth curve-fitting methods. Lipid accumulation products' effectiveness in predicting SUI was evaluated using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. Finally, a subgroup analysis was performed to confirm that the connection between SUI and lipid accumulation products was consistent across all demographic groups., Results: A thorough survey performed on 14,945 participants indicated that 23.61% of the respondents had SUI. A noteworthy association was observed between higher lipid accumulation product values and a greater probability of SUI in multivariate logistic regression analysis. Specifically, the stratification of lipid accumulation products into quartiles demonstrated a substantial positive correlation between the upper and lower quartiles, as evidenced by an elevated odds ratio for SUI (OR = 1.92; 95%CI 1.51-2.44; P < 0.0001). The subgroup analysis supported link consistency across all cohorts under investigation. Finally, the ROC curve indicated that lipid accumulation products (AUC = 0.67, 95%CI 0.654-0.690) had a superior predictive effect on the likelihood of SUI., Conclusions: Increased lipid accumulation product values are associated with a higher chance of SUI in adult participants. Two-dimensional covalent organic frameworks (2D-COFs) have recently emerged as fascinating scaffolds for solar-to-chemical energy conversion because of their customizable structures and functionalities. Herein, two tris(triazolo)triazine-based COF materials (namely COF-JLU51 and COF-JLU52) featuring large surface area, high crystallinity, excellent stability and photoelectric properties were designed and constructed for the first time. Remarkably, COF-JLU51 gave an outstanding H 2 O 2 production rate of over 4200 μmol g -1  h -1 with excellent reusability in pure water and O 2 under one standard sun light, that higher than its isomorphic COF-JLU52 and most of the reported metal-free materials, owing to its superior generation, separation and transport of photogenerated carriers. Experimental and theoretical researches prove that the photocatalytic process undergoes a combination of indirect 2e - O 2 reduction reaction (ORR) and 4e - H 2 O oxidation reaction (WOR). Specifically, an ultrahigh yield of 7624.7 μmol g -1  h -1 with apparent quantum yield of 18.2 % for COF-JLU52 was achieved in a 1 : 1 ratio of benzyl alcohol and water system. The development of cancer vaccines is at the forefront of cancer immunotherapy. Most existing strategies to induce an efficient anti-tumor immune response rely on molecular adjuvants and the incorporation of complex synthetic vectors into vaccine formulations. In contrast, this study introduces a one-step engineering technique to assemble the model antigen, Ovalbumin (OVA), into amyloid aggregates, leveraging biomimetic folding and aggregation to create non-fibrillar OVA globular aggregates and OVA amyloid-like fibrils as single-component, adjuvant-free vaccines. Notably, the OVA amyloid-like fibrils induced stronger immune responses compared to the native form, as evidenced by robust humoral immune reactions and the establishment of immune memory. These enhanced responses can be attributed to the self-adjuvant effect of the unique assembled structure, which preserves antigenic epitopes, improves antigen stability, facilitates antigen internalization, prolongs retention at the injection site, enhances antigen trafficking to the lymphoid organs, and promotes increased secretion of antibodies and cytokines. Furthermore, the efficacy of the vaccine was validated in a high OVA-expressing tumor model, demonstrating the potential of OVA amyloid-like fibrils as an effective vaccine for cancer immunoprevention. Neurological disorders are the second leading cause of death globally, with Alzheimer's disease (AD) emerging as a significant contributor, responsible for 276 million cases in disability-adjusted life years. Conventional diagnostic methods are often invasive, costly, and place a considerable strain on global healthcare systems. In this study, we presented an innovative and efficient strategy for AD assessment through blood profiling using a multiwell glass chip integrated with aptamer-based surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) biosensors. High-affinity aptamers were selected using capillary electrophoresis-based systematic evolution of ligands by exponential enrichment (CE-SELEX). A mouse brain injury model was employed to systematically investigate biomarkers indicative of physiological, vascular, and cellular damage, such as neurogranin (Nrgn), angiopoietin-2 (Angio-2), PRDX3, lactate dehydrogenase (L-LDH), and τ-441, which were quantified at atto-molar levels in blood samples. Additionally, with the aid of CT-scan imaging, an aptamer-SERS assay was developed to evaluate the dynamic regulation of AD biomarkers. The aptamer-SERS biosensor system was also applied to human samples, demonstrating its capability to multiplex AD biomarkers and establish a time-dependent correlation between percentage biomarker regulation and disease progression. Peribunyavirids produce enveloped virions with three negative-sense RNA segments comprising 10.7-12.5 kb in total. The family includes globally distributed viruses in multiple genera. While most peribunyavirids are maintained in geographically restricted vertebrate-arthropod transmission cycles, others are arthropod-specific or do not have a known vector. Arthropods can be persistently infected. Human and other vertebrate animal infections occur through blood feeding by an infected vector arthropod, resulting in diverse human and veterinary clinical outcomes in a strain-specific manner. Reassortment can occur between members of the same genus. Legumes are a widespread and cheap source of starch. However, legume starches are prone to retrogradation in applications. Therefore, enhancing the resistance to retrogradation is important to ensure the quality of starch products. In this study, the effects of amines, alcohols, and carboxylic acids deep eutectic solvents (DESs) on the retrogradation properties of pea starch (PS) were investigated. The results showed that the starches treated with carboxylic acid DESs for only 30 min exhibited low paste viscosity, high paste clarity and anti-retrogradation. The carboxylic acid DESs treatment resulted in holes or cracks appearing on the starch surface, a decrease in molecular ordering, relative crystallinity, and amylose content. The thermal enthalpy of starch as well as the pasting viscosity were substantially reduced after the treatment. The paste clarity and the resistance to retrogradation were significantly improved. Conversely, the structure, pasting and retrogradation properties of starch treated with amine and alcohol DESs exhibited only slight differences compared to PS. The carboxylic acid DESs took a short time for the starch modification, and the modified starch paste with low viscosity, high clarity, and resistance to retrogradation. Tumor budding (TB) has been associated with poor survival in a variety of cancers including intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA). As tumor histomorphological features are significantly altered after neoadjuvant therapy (NAT), our study aims to assess the prognostic significance of TB in iCCA patients before and after NAT, by the modified International Tumor Budding Consensus Conference (ITBCC) criteria. 147 NAT-treated iCCA cases were included in this study. In biopsy specimens obtained before NAT, the TB-positive subgroup had lower overall survival (OS) in univariate analysis (P = 0.010). In resection specimens obtained after NAT, the TB-positive subgroup had reduced OS (P = 0.002) and recurrence-free survival (RFS) (P = 0.013) in univariate analysis. In multivariate analysis including TNM stage, lymphovascular invasion and perineural invasion, TB-positive in post-NAT resection was also found as an independent prognostic factor for both OS and RFS (OS, HR, 3.005; 95% CI, 1.333-6.775, P = 0.008; RFS, HR, 1.748; 95% CI, 1.085-2.816, P = 0.022). Background: WHO issued the first edition catalogue of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTBC) mutations associated with drug resistance in 2021. However, country-specific issues might lead to arising complex and additional drug-resistant mutations. We aimed to fully reflect the characteristics of drug resistance mutations in China., Methods: We analysed MTBC isolates from the nationwide drug-resistant tuberculosis surveillance with 70 counties in 31 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions in China. Three types of MYCOTB plates were used to perform drug susceptibility testing for 12 antibiotics (rifampicin, isoniazid, ethambutol, levofloxacin, moxifloxacin, amikacin, kanamycin, ethionamide, clofazimine, linezolid, delamanid, and bedaquiline). Mutations were divided into five groups according to their odds ratios, positive predictive values, false discovery rate-corrected p values, and 95% CIs: (1) associated with resistance; (2) associated with resistance-interim; (3) uncertain significance; (4) not associated with resistance-interim; and (5) not associated with resistance. The Wilcoxon rank-sum and Kruskal-Wallis tests were used to quantify the association between mutations and minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs). Our dataset was compared with the first edition of the WHO catalogue., Findings: We analysed 10 146 MTBC isolates, of which 9071 (89·4%) isolates were included in the final analysis. 744 (8·2%) isolates were resistant to rifampicin and 1339 (14·8%) to isoniazid. 208 (1·9%) of 11 065 mutations were classified as associated with resistance or associated with resistance-interim. 33 (97·1%) of 34 mutations in group 1 and 92 (52·9%) of 174 in group 2 also appeared in groups 1 or 2 of the WHO catalogue. Of 81 indel mutations in group 2, 15 (18·5%) were in the WHO catalogue. The newly discovered mutation gyrA&#95;Ala288Asp was associated with levofloxacin resistance. MIC values for rifampicin, isoniazid, moxifloxacin, and levofloxacin corresponding to resistance mutations in group 1 were significantly different (p<0·0001), and 12 high-level resistance mutations were detected. 61 mutations in group 3 occurred as solo in at least five phenotypically susceptible isolates, but with MIC values moderately higher than other susceptible isolates. The integrity of the skin barrier is essential for maintaining skin health, with the stratum corneum and filaggrin 2 (FLG-2) playing a key role. FLG-2 deficiency or mutation has been linked to diseases such as atopic dermatitis, while external stressors such as ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation further damage the epidermal barrier. This study investigated the effects of recombinant filaggrin (rFLG) on skin barrier function and UVB induced epidermal destruction. Cell experiments showed that 10 μg/mL of rFLG could increase the mobility of HaCaT cells from 20 % to 42 %, increase the epithelial resistance (TEER) value by about 2 times, and up-regulate the tight junction associated protein by about 2 times. In mouse models of UVB-induced epidermal barrier destruction, rFLG at concentrations of 0.5, 1, and 2 mg/mL showed effective cell uptake and skin penetration, alleviating erythema, and reducing skin thickness in mice by 1.5-3 times. Among them, 2 mg/mL of rFLG treatment restored the expression of tight junction proteins (LOR, ZO-1, and caspase-14), reduced collagen degradation, and reduced oxidative stress by normalizing serum hydroxyproline and superoxide dismutase levels. In addition, 2 mg/mL of rFLG inhibited UVB-induced upregulation of matrix metalloproteinases (MMP-3 and MMP-9) and reduced pro-inflammatory factors (IL-10, IL-1α, IL-6, and TNF-α) and apoptotic markers (P38, Bax, and Bcl-2) to normal levels. The microsatellite stable (MSS) colon cancer (CC) has long been considered resistant to immunotherapy. Cuproptosis, as a novel form of cell death, may interact with tumor immunity. This project focused on the impact of cuproptosis on the cytotoxicity of CD8 + T in MSS CC, aiming to provide effective clues for improving the treatment strategy of MSS CC. The study developed an MSS CC cuproptosis model using 50 nM elesclomol and 1 μM CuCl 2 . Cuproptotic SW480 cells were directly co-cultured with CD8 + T cells. Cuproptosis levels were assessed via intracellular copper ion detection, Western blot, and confocal laser scanning microscopy. CCK-8, Hochest/PI staining, CFSE cell proliferation assay, LDH cytotoxicity detection, and ELISA were used to evaluate CD8 + T cell immune activity and cytotoxicity. Transcriptome sequencing and bioinformatics analysis identified regulated signals in cuproptotic SW480 cells. A rescue experiment utilized a WNT pathway activator (BML-284). PD-L1 expression in cells/membranes was analyzed using qRT-PCR, Western blot, and flow cytometry. NSG mice were immunoreconstituted, and the effects of cuproptosis on immune infiltration and cancer progression in MSS CC mice were assessed using ELISA and immunohistochemistry (IHC). Treatment with 50 nM elesclomol and 1 μM CuCl 2 significantly increased cuproptosis in SW480 cells. Co-culture with CD8 + T cells enhanced their cytotoxicity. Sequencing revealed cuproptosis-mediated modulation of immune and inflammatory pathways, including WNT signaling. Rescue experiments showed downregulation of WNT signaling in cuproptotic SW480 cells. Indirectly, CD8 + T cell immune function was enhanced by reducing PD-L1 expression. In mice, cuproptosis resulted in increased infiltration of CD8 + T cells in tumor tissue, leading to delayed cancer progression compared to the control group. Cuproptosis in MSS CC cells enhances the cytotoxicity of CD8 + T cells, which may be achieved through downregulation of the WNT signaling pathway and decreased expression of PD-L1. Surface-driven capacitive storage enhances rate performance and cyclability, thereby improving the efficacy of high-power electrode materials and fast-charging batteries. Conventional defect engineering, widely-employed capacitive storage optimization strategy, primarily focuses on the influence of defects themselves on capacitive behaviors. However, the role of local environment surrounding defects, which significantly affects surface properties, remains largely unexplored for lack of suitable material platform and has long been neglected. As proof-of-concept, typical Ti 3 C 2 T x MXenes are chosen as model materials owing to metallic conductivity and tunable surface properties, satisfying the requirements for capacitive-type electrodes. Using density functional theory (DFT) calculations, the potential of MXenes with modulated local atomic environment is anticipated and introducing new carbon sites found near pores can activate electrochemically inert surface, attaining record theoretical potassium storage capacities of MXenes (291 mAh g -1 ). This supposition is realized through atomic tailoring via chemical scissor within sublayers, exposing new sp 3 -hybridized carbon active sites. The resulting MXenes demonstrate unprecedented rate performance and cycling stability. Notably, MXenes with higher carbon exposure exhibit a record-breaking capacity over 200 mAh g -1 and sustain a capacity retention higher than 80% after 20 months. Biliary atresia (BA) is a severe pediatric liver disease characterized by progressive bile duct destruction and fibrosis, leading to significant liver damage and frequently necessitating liver transplantation. This study elucidates the role of LOX-1 + polymorphonuclear myeloid-derived suppressor cells (PMN-MDSCs) in BA pathogenesis and assesses their potential as non-invasive early diagnostic biomarkers. Using flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, and molecular profiling, we analyzed the expression and activity of these cells in peripheral blood and liver tissues from BA patients and controls. Our findings reveal a significant increase in the frequencies and function of LOX-1 + PMN-MDSCs in BA patients, along with MAPK signaling pathway upregulation, indicating their involvement in disease mechanisms. Additionally, the frequencies of LOX-1 + PMN-MDSC in peripheral blood significantly positively correlate with liver function parameters in BA patients, demonstrating diagnostic performance comparable to traditional serum markers. Objective: Ovarian cancer is the malignant tumor with the highest mortality rate in gynecology. We aimed to identify novel genes that promote ovarian cancer progression and epithelial-mesenchymal transition under hypoxic conditions., Methods: We screened SVIL as a hypoxia-associated target in ovarian cancer and explored the related molecular mechanisms. We assessed the effects of SVIL on ovarian cancer progression and metastasis in clinical samples and cellular hypoxia models. Further, we investigated the relevant pathways of SVIL and confirmed the effects of SVIL on ovarian cancer progression by using nude mouse in situ tumor models., Results: We found that SVIL was significantly highly expressed in the hypoxic environment of ovarian cancer, and SVIL expression correlated with patient prognosis.CCK8, Wound-healing assay, Transwell assay, Western Blot, and apoptosis assays revealed that knockdown of SVIL inhibited the activation of the TGFβ1/smad2/3 pathway, which attenuated the progression and epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT) of ovarian cancer and alleviated cisplatin resistance by increasing cisplatin-induced apoptosis. Furthermore, in a nude mouse ovarian cancer in situ model, we found that the knockdown of SVIL significantly inhibited tumor growth and metastasis., Conclusion: SVIL highly expressed in the hypoxic microenvironment can increase ovarian cancer progression and cisplatin resistance by activating TGFβ1/smad2/3 pathway. Rationale and Objectives: It remains a challenge to determine the nature of thyroid nodules (TNs) with Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT). We aim to investigate the multiregional ultrasomics signatures obtained from B-mode ultrasound (B-US) and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) images for predicting malignancy in TNs of patients with HT., Materials and Methods: B-US and CEUS images of 193 nodules (110 malignant and 83 benign nodules) from 110 patients were retrospectively collected in the single-center study, extracting ultrasomics signatures from the intratumoral (In) and peritumoral (Peri) regions of the thyroid. In-B-US, Peri-B-US, In-CEUS, and Peri-CEUS ultrasomics models and a stacking regression model were constructed, and the diagnostic performance of the models was evaluated by comparing the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC)., Results: The In-B-US, Peri-B-US, In-CEUS, Peri-CEUS, and stacking regression model in the training and testing datasets which attained AUC (95% CI) of 0.872(0.812, 0.932), 0.815(0.747, 0.882), 0.739(0.659, 0.819), 0.890(0.836, 0.943), 0.997(0.992, 1.000) and 0.799(0.650, 0.948), 0.851(0.727, 0.974), 0.622(0.440, 0.805), 0.742(0.573, 0.911), 0.867(0.741, 0.992); sensitivity of 82.8%, 89.7%, 71.3%, 74.7%, 96.6% and 69.6%, 78.3%, 43.5%, 78.3%, 91.3%; specificity of 80.6%, 58.2%, 67.2%, 91.0%, 98.5% and 93.8%, 87.5%, 93.3%, 75.0%, 81.2%, respectively. The stacking regression model based on ultrasomics signatures showed favorable calibration and discriminative capabilities. Compared to the stacking regression model, the difference in AUC between the In-B-US and Peri-B-US models was not statistically significant (P > 0.05). However, the difference in AUC between the In-CEUS and Peri-CEUS models was significant (P < 0.05)., Conclusion: The application of an ultrasomics approach can effectively predict the benign or malignant nature of TNs accompanied by HT. Background: Plastic bronchitis (PB) is a clinical-pathological syndrome characterized by the abnormal accumulation of endogenous substances in the bronchial airways, causing partial or complete obstruction and resulting in impaired lung ventilation., Methods: In this retrospective analysis, we aim to summarize the clinical manifestations, imaging characteristics, diagnostic methods, and treatment approaches to enhance clinicians' ability to detect children who are infected with human bocavirus 1 (hBoV 1) and develop PB., Results: In the period from January 2021 to January 2024, a total of six hBoV 1 infection children were diagnosed with PB through bronchoscopy. The onset of the condition was mainly concentrated between June and December. The detection methods used included metagenomic next-generation sequencing for pathogen identification (three cases) and respiratory pathogen nucleic acid 13-plex detection (oropharyngeal swab) (three cases), both of which confirmed the presence of hBoV 1. Out of the six children with PB, two were girls and four were boys. Their ages ranged from 10 months to 4 years old. Common symptoms reported by all patients included fever, cough, and wheezing. Chest high-resolution computed tomography scans revealed atelectasis in six cases, in addition to pneumonia. After the removal of the plastic bronchi via bronchoscopy, the airway obstruction symptoms in the children were relieved, and no recurrence was observed during the follow-up period. Pathological findings indicated cellulose exudation and inflammatory cell infiltration, consistent with nonlymphatic PB., Conclusion: When children infected with hBoV 1 exhibit persistent or worsening symptoms such as cough, fever, and wheezing despite treatment, clinicians should remain highly vigilant for the potential occurrence of PB. The environmental impact of dissolved trace element (DTE) pollution is becoming increasingly well understood. The southeastern edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is a region with high environmental vulnerability, making it highly susceptible to various anthropogenic disturbances. The Lancang River (LCR), as the most representative river in this area, serving as the largest international river in Southeast Asia, the LCR is crucial for the downstream regions, supporting fisheries, agriculture, and even economic development, earning it the title of the "water tower" for these areas. This study mainly focuses on the upstream unbuilt dam area. In this study, we gathered 25 surface water samples from the upstream of the LCR and examined the geographical distribution, primary sources, and associated human health risks of seven dissolved trace elements (Mn, Cr, Fe, Co, Cu, Ni, Zn). Cr, Fe, Co, Ni, and Cu in the main stream are primarily associated with natural sources, including rock weathering, soil erosion, and similar processes. Mn, however, predominantly originates from human activities such as industrial construction and road transportation. Zn mainly originates from the specialized fertilizers used for highland barley in plateau regions. Almost all DTE concentrations exhibited a downward trend from upstream to downstream. However, due to inputs from various sources along the way, there will be some abnormal points. The concentrations of DTE in the study area were within the acceptable limits set by drinking water standards in China, the USA, and the WHO. Overall, the water quality in this region is considered good. The results from a Monte Carlo simulation assessing health risks indicate that the non-carcinogenic health risk caused by DTE in the upper reaches of Lancang River was very weak. The primary pathway through which DTE can harm human health is ingestion, with children being particularly vulnerable. Background and Purpose: Sodium glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) have emerged as a potent therapy for heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). Hydrogen sulphide (H 2 S), a well-studied cardioprotective agent, could be beneficial in HFpEF. SGLT2i monotherapy and combination therapy involving an SGLT2i and H 2 S donor in two preclinical models of cardiometabolic HFpEF was investigated., Experimental Approach: Nine-week-old C57BL/6N mice received L-NAME and a 60% high fat diet for five weeks. Mice were then randomized to either control, SGLT2i monotherapy or SGLT2i and H 2 S donor, SG1002, for five additional weeks. Ten-week-old ZSF1 obese rats were randomized to control, SGLT2i or SGLT2i and SG1002 for 8 weeks. SG1002 monotherapy was investigated in additional animals. Cardiac function (echocardiography and haemodynamics), exercise capacity, glucose handling and multiorgan pathology were monitored during experimental protocols., Key Results: SGLT2i treatment improved E/e' ratio and treadmill exercise in both models. Combination therapy afforded increases in cardiovascular sulphur bioavailability that coincided with improved left end-diastolic function (E/e' ratio), exercise capacity, metabolic state, cardiorenal fibrosis, and hepatic steatosis. Follow-up studies with SG1002 monotherapy revealed improvements in diastolic function, exercise capacity and multiorgan histopathology., Conclusions and Implications: SGLT2i monotherapy remediated pathological complications exhibited by two well-established HFpEF models. Adjunctive H 2 S therapy resulted in further improvements of cardiometabolic perturbations beyond SGLT2i monotherapy. Follow-up SG1002 monotherapy studies inferred an improved phenotype with combination therapy beyond either monotherapy. In order to evaluate the early radiographic characteristics of the lateral talocalcaneal (L-TC) angle in patients with idiopathic clubfoot (ICF) and to investigate its prognostic significance for relapse after initial treatment with the Ponseti method. We retrospectively included 151 patients (96 males and 55 females; 227 feet) with ICF treated at our Institution between January 2005 and December 2014. The age at initial treatment was less than 6 months, and radiographs were obtained within 3 months of the Achilles tenotomy (mean age: 2.3 months; range: 0.77-6.8). All patients were followed up for at least 7 years (range, 7-18). The participants' feet were classified into 3 groups: relapsed (Group A), not relapsed (Group B), and normal foot groups which consisted of healthy feet in patients with unilateral ICF (Group C). All angle measurements were expressed in degrees. Forty-seven ICF feet in 33 patients relapsed, while 180 feet in 118 patients did not, and the age at relapse was 5.92 ± 1.91 years. Seventy-five normal feet were included in Group C. The average L-TC angle in Group A and B patients was 33.57° ± 12.05° and 39.37° ± 12.55°, respectively, while Group C was 49.61° ± 9.11°. A significant difference was found among the 3 groups of patients (F = 31.48, p < .001). The L-TC angle cut-off value below which a recurrence could be predicted was 36.1° (sensitivity, 74.47%). The L-TC angle of ICF patients treated using the Ponseti method were reduced compared to normal feet. An L-TC angle of <36.1° has relative value in predicting ICF relapse., (Copyright © 2024. Aspartic proteases (APs) constitute a large family in plants and are widely involved in diverse biological processes, like chloroplast metabolism, biotic and abiotic stress responses, and reproductive development. In this study, we focused on overall analysis of the APs genes in tobacco. Our analysis included the phylogeny and cis-elements in the cell wall-associated promoters of these genes. To characterize the expression patterns of APs genes in stem vascular development. The tissue expression analysis showed that NtAED3-like was preferentially expressed in the differentiating xylem and phloem cells of the vascular system. Based on histochemical staining analysis showed that the NtAED3-like gene was specifically expressed in stem vascular tissue, root vascular tissue, and petiole vascular tissue. The TdT-mediated dUTP nick-end labeling (TUNEL) assay illustrated a delayed progression of programmed cell death (PCD) within the xylem of the ko-ntaed3a-like mutant, relative to the wild type. The mutant ko-ntaed3a-like exhibited a phenotype of thinning stem circumference and changed in xylem structure and lignin content. In addition, the two-dimension heteronuclear single quantum coherent nuclear magnetic resonance (2D-HSQC) analysis of three milled wood lignins (MWLs) showed that the content of β-O-4 connection in ko-ntaed3a-like decreased slightly compared with wild type. The pathogenesis of this condition is intricate, characterized by the aberrant activation of numerous cytokines and signaling pathways. This study aimed to delve into the association between the expression of the MAPK14 protein and immune cell infiltration in patients suffering from Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). Additionally, it sought to assess the viability of autophagy-related genes as potential diagnostic biomarkers. To achieve this, the researchers employed various techniques such as immunohistochemistry, real-time quantitative PCR, and western blotting to measure the MAPK14 protein levels in the lung tissues of ARDS patients. These measurements were then correlated with clinical data to provide a comprehensive analysis.In this study, the researchers conducted a gene expression profile analysis to identify genes associated with autophagy. The relationship between these genes, MAPK14 expression, and immune cell infiltration was thoroughly evaluated. The findings revealed a marked increase in the expression of MAPK14 protein in the lung tissues of ARDS patients. This increased expression was found to be positively correlated with the extent of immune cell infiltration. The study's further analysis highlighted that several genes associated with autophagy exhibited expression levels that were correlated with both MAPK14 expression and the degree of immune infiltration. This suggests a complex interplay between MAPK14 protein levels, autophagy-related genes, and immune responses in the pathogenesis of ARDS. The fractional-order (FO) nonlinear differential system with state-dependent (SD) delayed impulses (DI) is considered in this brief. The considered impulses are related to the delayed state of the system and the delays are SD. A novel lemma for the monotonicity of the solution of Caputo's FO derivative equation is given. By means of linear matrix inequality (LMI) and several comparative arguments, criteria of uniform stability, uniform asymptotical stability, and Mittag-Leffler stability are obtained. Compared with other works on integer-order (IO) impulsive delayed systems with SD delays or fixed delays, how to impose constraints on parameters and impulses is explored, without imposing the boundedness on the state delays. Two examples are implemented to examine the practicality and sharpness of our theoretical analysis.

We conducted a large-scale survey of arboviruses in mosquitoes and biting midges to assess the presence and spread of mosquito-borne pathogens currently circulating on Hainan Island, China. RT-PCR assays were used to detect the arbovirus species, distribution, and infection rates in mosquitoes and biting midges. Cell inoculation and high throughput sequencing were performed to isolate the viruses and assemble full viral genomes. Phylogenetic analysis was conducted to identify the viral genotypes and evolutionary relationships with known viruses. During 2019-2023, 32,632 mosquitoes and 21,000 biting midges were collected from 14 of 18 cities/counties on Hainan Island. Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) was detected in Culex mosquitoes from five cities/counties, where the minimum infection rate (MIR) was 1.6 (0.6-2.6) per 1,000 females tested. Tembusu virus (TMUV) was detected in Culex mosquitoes from three cities/counties with MIR1.0 (0-2.2) per 1,000. Getah virus (GETV) was detected in Armigeres mosquitoes from Qionghai city with MIR 7.1 (0-15.2) per 1,000. Oya virus (OYAV) and Bluetongue virus (BTV) were detected in biting midges from Wanning city with MIRs of 0.4 (0-1.2) and 0.1 (0-10.2) per 1,000, respectively. Three JEV strains were isolated and clustered within the genotype I group, which is presently the dominant genotype in China. Three TMUV strains were isolated for the first time on Hainan Island that belonged to Cluster 3. Three isolated GETVs were identified as Group 3. BTV was reported for the first time on Hainan Island, and the complete genome for one BTV strain was successfully assembled, which was classified as serotype 1 based on the sequences of segment 2. Cadmium (Cd), a toxic heavy metal pollutant, inflicts widespread damage on various organs and tissues, including cartilage, where it induces chondrocyte apoptosis. Angelica sinensis polysaccharides (ASP), a key active component of the traditional Chinese medicine Angelica sinensis, have been shown to possess anti-apoptotic effects on chondrocytes. This study investigates the in vitro effects of ASP on alleviating Cd-induced apoptosis in layer chicken chondrocytes, focusing on the mitochondrial apoptosis pathway mediated by the c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) signaling pathway. Chondrocytes were isolated from layer chicken embryos and confirmed to express collagen type II alpha 1 (Col2a1). We found that Cd triggered apoptosis in the chondrocytes; however, the use of the JNK inhibitor SP 600125 mitigated mitochondrial structural damage casused by Cd, indicating the involvement of JNK signaling in this process. Furthermore, ASP effectively alleviated Cd-induced apoptosis in layer chicken chondrocytes by inhibiting JNK signaling in vitro. This article develops a cooperative-critic learning-based secure tracking control (CLSTC) method for unknown nonlinear systems in the presence of multisensor faults. By introducing a low-pass filter, the sensor faults are transformed into "pseudo" actuator faults, and an augmented system that integrates the system state and the filter output is constructed. To reduce design costs, a joint neural network Luenberger observer (NNLO) structure is established by using neural network and input/output data of the system to identify unknown system dynamics and sensor faults online. To achieve the optimal secure tracking control, an augmented tracking system is formed by integrating the dynamics of tracking error, reference trajectory, and filter output. Then, a novel cost function is designed for the augmented tracking system, which employs the fault estimation and the discount factor. The Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equation is solved to obtain the CLSTC strategy through an adaptive critic structure with cooperative tuning laws. Besides, the Lyapunov stability theorem is utilized to prove that all signals of the closed-loop system converge to a small neighborhood of the equilibrium point. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed control method has good fault tolerance performance and is suitable for solving secure control problems of nonlinear systems with various sensor faults.

For leg prosthesis user, the soft tissue and skin under the stump of are not accustomed to weight bearing, excessive continuous contact pressure can lead to the risk of degenerative tissue ulceration. This article presents a novel human-robot collaborative control scheme that achieves control weight self-adjustment for robotic prostheses to minimize interaction torque. To establish the human-robot interaction relationship, we regard the contact pressure between human residual limb and the prosthetic receiving cavity as the interaction force. We aim at reducing the interaction force under the premise of minimally changing the original motion trajectory of the robotic prosthesis. The control scheme mainly includes trajectory optimization based on a dual-agent game control scheme under a cooperative relationship, and a fuzzy logic system for improving the control accuracy of trajectory tracking of robotic prostheses with unknown dynamic parameters. Experiments were carried out on two amputee participants to verify the proposed human-robot interactive control scheme in a robotic prosthesis. The results show that the interaction torque could be reduced while maintaining minimal trajectory tracking error. The proposed control scheme could potentially facilitate the dexterous manipulation of leg prostheses, thus benefiting amputees.

The enhancement of underwater images has emerged as a significant technological challenge in advancing marine research and exploration tasks. Due to the scattering of suspended particles and absorption of light in underwater environments, underwater images tend to present blurriness and predominantly color distortion. In this study, we propose a novel approach utilizing denoising diffusion models to improve underwater degraded images. After training the noise estimation network of the denoising diffusion models, we accelerate the deterministic sampling process with denoising diffusion implicit models. We also propose a patch-based method by implementing average sampling between overlapping image patches at each sampling step, enabling the generation of images at arbitrary resolution while preserving their natural appearance and details. Through benchmark experiments, we illustrate that our method outperforms or closely approaches state-of-the-art techniques in terms of effectiveness and performance. We demonstrate that our approach reduces the interference of underwater environments with the semantic information of the images by salient object detection experiments.

Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) have gained considerable attention due to their design possibilities as the molecular organic building blocks that can stack in an atomically precise spatial arrangement. Since the inception of COFs in 2005, there has been a continuous expansion in the product range of COFs and their derivatives. This expansion has led to the evolution of three-dimensional structures and various synthetic routes, propelling the field towards large-scale preparation of COFs and their derivatives. This review will offer a holistic analysis and comparison of the spatial structure and synthesis techniques of COFs and their derivatives. The conventional methods of COF synthesis ( i.e. , ultrasonic chemical, microwave, and solvothermal) are discussed alongside the synthesis strategies of new COFs and their derivatives. Furthermore, the applications of COFs and their derived materials are demonstrated in air, water, and soil pollution management such as gas capture, catalytic conversion, adsorption, and pollutant removal. Finally, this review highlights the current challenges and prospects for large-scale preparation and application of new COFs and the derived materials. In line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the needs of digital-enabled technologies (AI and machine learning), this review will encompass the future technical trends for COFs in environmental pollution control.

Introduction: Early and accurate diagnosis of tuberculosis (TB) is crucial for initiating timely treatment and preventing new infections. In this study, we introduced the iFIND TBR assay, an automated all-in-one tuberculosis detection approach that simultaneously detect Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) and rifampicin (RIF) resistance., Methods: The limits of detection (LOD), sensitivity, specificity, and RIF-R rpoB mutation detection of the iFIND TBR were tested on Mycobacterium tuberculosis DNA or sputum samples spiked with known numbers of M.tuberculosis H37Rv. Frozen clinical samples from patients suspected of having TB were also tested., Results: The LOD of the iFIND TBR for MTB detection were 13.34 CFU/ml (95% CI, 11.71-16.47), and for RIF resistance was 109.79CFU/mL (95% CI, 95-138.19). The iFIND TBR assay accurately distinguish MTB strains from non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) without any cross reactivity. Testing on 157 clinical sputum samples, compared with the bacteriologically TB standard, the overall sensitivity and specificity of the iFIND TBR was 100% (95%CI, 94.64, 100) and 85.29% (95% CI, 74.61, 92.72), respectively. When assessing RIF susceptibility, the iFIND TBR achieved a sensitivity of 98.15% (95% CI, 90.11-99.95) and a specificity of 85.71% (95% CI, 67.33-95.97), compared with phenotypic drug susceptibility testing. Objective: To evaluate the prevalence, resistance and risk factors of community-onset urinary tract infections (COUTIs) caused by extended-spectrum β-lactamase-producing Escherichia coli (ESBL-EC) for providing a basis for the selection of clinical therapeutic agents., Design: A retrospective case-control study., Setting: The Affiliated Dazu Hospital of Chongqing Medical University (also known as The People's Hospital of Dazu Chongqing), a 1000-bed tertiary hospital in China., Data and Participants: This study encompassed adult patients diagnosed with community-acquired urinary tract infections (UTIs) caused by E. coli between May 2017 and December 2022 with exclusion criteria including incomplete clinical data, disagreement to participate in the study, hospitalisation duration exceeding 48 hours prior to confirmation of diagnosis and prior history of urinary tract infection caused by E. coli ., Outcome Measures: The risk factors for COUTIs caused by ESBL-EC were evaluated using a case-control design, defining patients who were diagnosed with UTIs and had an ESBL-positive urine culture as the case group and patients who were diagnosed with UTIs and had an ESBL-negative urine culture as the control group. Perform drug susceptibility testing and resistance analysis on isolated ESBL-EC., Results: In total, 394 cases of COUTIs caused by E. coli were included; 192 cases were ESBL-positive with a detection rate of 48.7% (192/394). Parenchymal tumour, history of urolithiasis stone fragmentation, history of urological surgery, hospitalisation within 6 months, indwelling catheter outside the hospital and antibiotic use (mainly third-generation cephalosporins) were the factors significantly associated with COUTIs caused by ESBL-EC (p<0.05) through logistic regression for univariate analysis. Multivariate analysis revealed that a history of urolithiasis stone fragmentation (OR=2.450; 95% CI: 1.342 to 4.473; p=0.004), urological surgery (OR=3.102; 95% CI: 1.534 to 6.270; p=0.002), indwelling catheter outside hospital (OR=2.059; 95% CI: 1.025 to 4.133; p=0.042), hospitalisation within 6 months (OR=2.127; 95% CI: 1.207 to 3.748; p=0.009) and use of third-generation cephalosporins (OR=1.903; 95% CI: 1.069 to 3.389; p=0.029) were the independent risk factors for COUTIs caused by ESBL-EC. The results of the drug susceptibility testing revealed that ESBL-EC exhibited the highest resistance rates to ampicillin, ceftriaxone and cefixime, all at 100%. Mezlocillin followed with a resistance rate of 98.7%. On the other hand, ESBL-EC strains displayed the highest sensitivity to carbapenem antibiotics (imipenem, meropenem, ertapenem) and amikacin, all at 100%. Sensitivity rates were also high for cefotetan at 96.6%, piperacillin/tazobactam at 95.3% and nitrofurantoin at 87.9%., Conclusions: Our results revealed high ESBL-EC detection rates. COUTIs caused by ESBL-EC are more likely to occur in patients with parenchymal tumour, a history of urolithiasis stone fragmentation, a history of urological surgery, hospitalisation within 6 months, indwelling catheter outside the hospital and use of third-generation cephalosporins. This retrospective study aimed to compare the difference of the levels of white blood cells (WBC), C-reactive protein (CRP), procalcitonin, and D-Dimer in the bloodstream infection (BSI) patients, and their values in distinguishing bacterial categories. A total of 847 bloodstream infection patients were analyzed and divided into Gram-positive BSI (GP-BSI) and Gram-negative BSI (GN-BSI) groups. Most frequently isolated pathogens in GP-BSI were Staphylococcus epidermidis (35.75%), followed by Staphylococcus hominis (18.33%), and Streptococcus haemolyticus (10.16%), while in GN-BSI, Escherichia coli (30.07%), Klebsiella pneumoniae (23.98%), and Acinetobacter baumannii (13.18%) were the most common. The predictive value was evaluated based on three years of patient data, which showed an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.828. It was further validated using two years of data, which yielded an AUC of 0.925. Significant differences existed in the procalcitonin, D-Dimer, and CRP levels between GN-BSI and GP-BSI. The current results provide a more effective strategy for early differential diagnosis in bacterial categorization of BSI when combining WBC, CRP, procalcitonin, and D-Dimer measurements., (© The Author(s) 2024. The controlled construction of hybrid material structures can effectively regulate the physical, chemical, and functional properties of materials. This work explores the feasibility of coupling microdroplets technology and photopolymerization methods to achieve controllable construction of hybrid structures on the surface of ultrafine zirconium (Zr) powder, and investigates the effects of different hybrid structures on the surface mechanical properties, thermal oxidation performance, and electrostatic safety of Zr powder. The photopolymerization reaction process of PMMA on the surface of Zr powder was analyzed, revealing the principle of accelerated photopolymerization reactions within microdroplets, which was experimentally validated. Furthermore, by altering the polymerization reaction conditions and with the assistance of hydrofluoric acid (HF), a mechanism for controlling the hybrid structures on the surface of Zr powder was proposed. The results demonstrated that the collaborative effect of microdroplets and photopolymerization methods efficiently controlled the content and structural characteristics of the PMMA coating on the surface of Zr powder. The further introduction of HF was found to adjust the morphology of the surface hybrid structures and significantly improve the thermal oxidation performance and electrostatic safety of the Zr powder. These findings provided insights into the surface property regulation of active energetic materials and paved the way for the controlled preparation of inorganic-organic hybrid materials.

Rapid and accurate detection of bacterial pathogens is crucial for preventing widespread public health crises, particularly in the food industry. Traditional methods are often slow and require extensive labeling, which hampers timely responses to potential threats. In response, we introduce a groundbreaking approach using filter-array-based hyperspectral imaging technology, enhanced by a super-resolution demosaicking technique. This innovative technology streamlines the detection process and significantly enhances the resolution of mosaic hyperspectral imaging. By utilizing a snapshot hyperspectral camera with a 15 ms integration time, it facilitates the identification of bacteria at the single-cell level without requiring chemical labels. The integration of a 3D convolutional neural network optimizes the recognition of pathogenic bacteria, achieving an impressive accuracy of 91.7%. Our approach dramatically improves the efficiency and effectiveness of bacterial detection, providing a promising solution for critical applications in public health and the food industry.
