It is known that abnormal functional connectivity (FC) in schizophrenia (SZ) is closely related to structural connectivity (SC). We speculate that indirect SC also have an impact on FC in SZ patients. Conventional single-layer network has limitations for studying the relationship between indirect SC and FC. Thus, this study constructed a multiplex network based on structural connectivity and functional connectivity (SC-FC). The SC-FC bandwidth and SC-FC cost are used to analyze the impact of indirect SC on FC. Moreover, this paper proposed mediation ability, mediation cost, mediated strength and mediated cost to quantify the effects of mediator nodes and mediated nodes on indirect SC. The results show that SZ patients exhibit lower SC-FC bandwidth and SC-FC cost compared to healthy controls (HC), which could be caused by the limbic and subcortical network (LSN), default mode network (DMN) and visual network (VN). The mediator and mediated nodes in indirect SC of SZ patients also showed diminished effects. These findings suggest that functional communication ability and cost in SZ patients are influenced by indirect SC. Background: Multilayer networks have been used to identify abnormal dynamic reconfiguration in bipolar disorder (BD). However, these studies ignore the differences in information interactions between adjacent layers when constructing multilayer networks, and the analysis of dynamic reconfiguration is not comprehensive enough; Methods: Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging data were collected from 46 BD patients and 54 normal controls. A multilayer temporal network was constructed for each subject, and inter-layer coupling of different nodes was considered using network similarity. The promiscuity, recruitment, and integration coefficients were calculated to quantify the different dynamic reconfigurations between the two groups; Results: The global inter-layer coupling, recruitment, and integration coefficients were significantly lower in BD patients. These results were further observed in the attention network and the limbic/paralimbic and subcortical network, reflecting reduced temporal stability, intra- and inter-subnetwork communication abilities in BD patients. The whole-brain promiscuity was increased in BD patients. The same results were observed in the somatosensory/motor and auditory network, reflecting more functional interactions; Conclusions: This study discovered abnormal dynamic interactions of BD from the perspective of dynamic reconfiguration, which can help to understand the pathological mechanisms of BD.

In this study, a directional loading of cadmium sulfide (CdS) nanoparticles (NPs) was achieved on the opposite edges of nickel metal-organic framework (Ni-MOF) nanosheets (NSs) by adjusting the weight ratio of CdS NPs in the reaction process to produce effective visible light photocatalysts. The close contact between the zero-dimensional (0D) and two-dimensional (2D) regions and the matching positions of the bands promoted charge separation and heterojunction formation. The optimal CdS NPs loading of composite material was 40 wt%. At this ratio, CdS NPs grew primarily at the opposite edges of the Ni-MOF NSs rather than on their surfaces. When lactic acid was used as the sacrificial agent, the hydrogen production rate of the 40 %-CdS/Ni-MOF heterojunction under visible light irradiation was 19.6 mmol h -1 g -1 , making a 20-fold enhancement compared to the original CdS NPs sample (1.0 mmol h -1 g -1 ). The charge carriers generated in CdS NPs were transferred to Ni-MOF NSs through heterojunctions, where Ni-MOF NSs also served as cocatalysts to improve hydrogen production. The combination of the two materials improved the light absorption ability. In particular, the 40 %-CdS/Ni-MOF heterojunction exhibited good photostability, effectively preventing the photocorrosion of CdS NPs. Control tissue is essential for ensuring the precision of semiquantitative analysis in back-table fluorescence imaging. However, there remains a lack of agreement on the appropriate selection of control tissues. To evaluate the back-table fluorescence imaging performance of different normal tissues and identify the optimal normal tissue, a cohort of 39 patients with orbital tumors were enrolled in the study. Prior to surgery, these patients received indocyanine green (ICG) and following resection, 43 normal control tissues (34 adipose tissues, 3 skin tissues, 3 periosteal tissues, and 3 muscle tissues) were examined using back-table fluorescence imaging. The skin tissue demonstrated significantly elevated fluorescence intensity in comparison to the diseased tissue, whereas the muscle tissue exhibited a broad range and standard deviation of fluorescence signal intensity. Conversely, the adipose and periosteum displayed weak fluorescence signals with a relatively consistent distribution. Additionally, no significant correlations were found between the signal-to-background ratio (SBR) of adipose tissue and patients' ages, genders, weights, disease duration, tumor origins, dosing of administration of ICG infusion, and the time interval between ICG infusion and surgery. However, a positive correlation was observed between the SBR of adipose tissue and its size, with larger adipose tissues (>1 cm) showing an average SBR 27% higher than smaller adipose tissues (≤1 cm). In conclusion, the findings of this study demonstrated that adipose tissue consistently exhibited homogeneous hypofluorescence during back-table fluorescence imaging, regardless of patient clinical variables or imaging parameters. The size of the adipose tissue was identified as the primary factor influencing its fluorescence imaging characteristics, supporting its utility as an ideal control tissue for back-table fluorescence imaging.

The on-site detection of pyrethroids, particularly type II pyrethroids, remains a challenging task in complex vegetable samples. Herein, a novel method based on naphthalimide was developed to realize the specific detection of type II pyrethroids by hydrolyzing and utilizing the compound m-phenoxybenzaldehyde (3-PBD). Hydrazine group, used as the appropriate moiety, was introduced into the fluorescent dye 1,8-naphthalimide to construct the fluoroprobe NAP. In the presence of 3-PBD, NAP displayed the prominently enhanced fluorescence and also exhibited high selectivity. This proposed method exhibited high anti-inference effects in complex media, realizing sensitive detection of 3-PBD with linear range of 2.15-800 μM and a low detection limit (LOD) of 0.64 μM. The underlying fluorescence-responsive mechanisms were in-depth elucidated by combining spectral analyses with TD-DFT theoretical calculations. Additionally, a direct and rapid hydrolysis method for deltamethrin in celery was established, achieving a high hydrolysis efficiency of >90% within 15 min. Furthermore, a portable fluorescence sensor (PFS) was developed based on high-power LEDs and photodetectors. PFS supplied a LOD of 2.23 μM for 3-PBD and exhibited comparable stability by a fluorescence spectrometer when detecting celery hydrolysate. Moreover, external power source is not required for PFS operations, thereby enabling rapid and on-site detection by transmitting data to a smartphone via bluetooth. Introduction: This study evaluated the labial and lingual cortical bone remodeling characteristics of mandibular central incisors after retraction, which remain controversial among orthodontists., Methods: Cortical bone remodeling and central incisor movement of 33 patients (aged 23.64 ± 4.30 years) who underwent mandibular first premolar extraction and incisor retraction at the crestal (S1), midroot (S2), and apical (S3) levels were analyzed using superimposed cone-beam computed tomography images on the basis of voxel-based registration of the mandibular stable region. Multivariate linear regression was used to explore the relationships between labial bone remodeling/tooth movement (BT) ratios and factors such as the ANB angle, mandibular plane angle (Mp-SN), and incisor movement patterns. The patients were divided into 4 groups according to the lingual cortical bone remodeling condition and the relationship between posttreatment incisor roots and the original lingual cortical bone border. At the 3 levels (S1, S2, and S3), the classifications of cortical bone remodeling of the mandibular incisors were calculated; t tests were used to compare the amount of labial and lingual bone remodeling, BT ratios, and lingual bone remodeling/root over the original border (BRo) ratios., Results: The mean labial BT ratios at all 3 levels were close to 1. Multivariate linear regression indicated that the tooth movement pattern negatively correlated with the BT ratio at the S2 and S3 levels (P <0.05). Lingual bone apposition occurs when the root penetrates the original lingual cortical bone border in most patients. BRo ratios can more accurately reflect the inherent remodeling ability of the lingual cortical bone than BT ratios. The mean lingual BRo ratios were (1) S1 level: mandibular left central incisor (T31), 0.87 ± 0.25 and mandibular right incisor (T41), 0.86 ± 0.25; (2) S2 level: T31, 0.81 ± 0.12 and T41, 0.80 ± 0.22; and (3) S3 level: T31, 0.76 ± 0.20 and T41, 0.83 ± 0.26. There was no significant difference between labial BT ratios and lingual BRo ratios at the S2 and S3 levels., Conclusions: The amount of labial cortical bone resorption caused by mandibular incisor retraction showed varied relationships with the amount of tooth movement. Bodily retraction may decrease the labial BT ratios at the S2 and S3 levels. Chemoresistance is a significant obstacle in the treatment of breast cancer (BC). Due to its diverse composition, the causes of chemoresistance in BC are complex and have not been completely understood. In this article, we explored the mechanism of N6-methyladenosine (m6A)-modified long intervening noncoding RNA (linc)-OIP5 in BC chemoresistance. We successfully constructed drug-resistant cell lines MCF-7/P and MDA-MB-231/P by exposing parental MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 cells to escalating doses of paclitaxel (PTX) and revealed multiple m6A methylation modification sites on linc-OIP5 according to the predictive analysis of the SRAMP database. Linc-OIP5 expression and m6A modification were up-regulated in PTX-resistant BC cells. Inhibition of m6A modification or linc-OIP5 knockdown facilitated PTX-resistant and parental BC cell apoptosis and repressed proliferation and migration. Mechanistically, linc-OIP5 bound to TRIM5 and reduced the ubiquitination of DDX5, thus stabilizing the DDX5 protein. Additionally, DDX5 overexpression partly abrogated the suppressing effects of inhibited m6A modification or si-linc-OIP5 on cell proliferation, migration and PTX resistance. Pyrethroids are widely used insecticides worldwide, while their on-site and rapid detection still faces technological challenges. Herein, an innovative detection mechanism was designed for deltamethrin, a typical kind of type II pyrethroids, based on a dual-emitting fluoroprobe consisting of NH 2 -SiQDs and Eu 3+ . Deltamethrin can rapidly hydrolyze into 3-phenoxybenzaldehyde (3-PBD) and react specifically with fluoroprobe, causing fluorescence quenching of SiQDs while maintaining the fluorescent stability of Eu 3+ . Building upon the above fluorescence-responsive principle, SiQDs@Eu 3+ provided satisfactorily dual-emitting signals, realizing the highly-selective and sensitive detection of deltamethrin. Correlation between the surface structure of SiQDs and their absorption spectra was in-depth unraveled by TD-DFT calculation and FT-IR analysis. As for the analytical performance, the recovery and LOD of deltamethrin in lettuce, provided by SiQDs@Eu 3+ , were comparable or even superior over conventional chromatographic analysis. Improving the water retention property of shallow soil in the inner dump is the key step in the sustainable development of mines. In recent years, the use of fly ash to improve the structure of the inner dump and polyacrylamide as an additive to enhance water retention was an effective method. The article used a physical model test, filter paper method, and microstructure analysis method to compare and analyze the water retention property and microstructure of slope-improved soil with different fly ash and polyacrylamide content. The results show that the combined use of fly ash and polyacrylamide improved the water retention property of the amended soil. Fly ash and polyacrylamide had a greater effect on the low suction stage of the amended soil. Polyacrylamide reacted with water and bound soil particles to form aggregates, and the structural unit bodies were a block structure. Fly ash was non-sticky and was a matrix of fine particles, which weakened the bonding effect of polyacrylamide, and reduced the aggregates of soil particles, and the structural unit bodies were a flocculated structure of aggregates mixed with matrix. This, in turn, enhanced the capillary action and improved the water retention performance of the improved soil. In addition, polyacrylamide could connect water molecules, further enhancing the water retention property of the improved soil. The combined use of fly ash and polyacrylamide improved the available water content of improved soil, providing a viable and sustainable solution for improving the comprehensive utilization of fly ash, and laid the foundation for land reclamation at the inner dump., (© 2024. Freeze-thaw cycles (FTC) could cause damage to food during storage. The effects of different FTC on Hot-dry noodles (HDN) in terms of quality, moisture, starch, and protein characteristics were studied. This study showed that FTC decreased the texture properties and water absorption of HDN. Meanwhile, cooking loss was significantly increased after FTC. The water content of HDN was decreased and water migration was increased during FTC. In addition, results showed that FTC destroyed the order structure and increased the crystallinity of starch in HDN. Under FTC, the disulfide bond of HDN was broken, the free sulfhydryl group was increased, and the electrophoretic patterns confirmed the protein depolymerization. The microstructure also showed that the gluten network became incomplete and starch was exposed outside the substrate. Triclosan (TCS) is a broad-spectrum antibiotic widely used in various personal care products. Research has found that exposure to TCS can cause toxic effects on organisms including neurotoxicity, cardiotoxicity, disorders of lipid metabolism, and abnormal vascular development, and the corresponding toxic mechanisms are gradually delving into the level of abnormal expression of miRNA regulating gene expression. Although the downstream mechanism of TCS targeting miRNA abnormal expression to induce toxicity is gradually improving, its upstream mechanism is still in a fog. Starting from the abnormal expression data of circRNA in zebrafish larvae induced by TCS, this study conducted a hierarchical analysis of the expression levels of all circRNAs, differential circRNAs, and trend circRNAs, and identified 29 key circRNA events regulating miRNA abnormal expression. In combination with GO and KEGG, the effects of TCS exposure were analyzed from the function and signaling pathway of the corresponding circRNA host gene. Furthermore, based on existing literature evidence about the biological toxicity induced by TCS targeting miRNA as data support, a competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNA) network characterizing the regulatory relationship between circRNA and miRNA was constructed and optimized. Finally, a comprehensive Adverse Outcome Pathway (AOP) framework of multiple levels of events including circRNA, miRNA, mRNA, pathway, and toxicity endpoints was established to systematically elucidate the toxic mechanism of TCS. Moreover, the rationality of the AOP framework was verified from the expression level of miRNA and adverse outcomes such as neurotoxicity, cardiotoxicity, oxidative stress, and inflammatory response by knockdown of circRNA48. The effective treatment of diabetes with comorbid depression is a big challenge so far. Honokiol, a bioactive compound from the dietary supplement Magnolia officinalis extract, possesses multiple health benefits. The present study aims to propose a network pharmacology-based method to elucidate potential targets of honokiol in treating diabetes with comorbid depression and related mechanisms. The antidepressant-like efficacy of honokiol was evaluated in high-fat diet (HFD) induced diabetic mice using animal behavior testing, immuno-staining and western blotting assay. Through network pharmacology analysis, retinoid X receptor alpha (RXRα) and vitamin D receptor (VDR) were identified as potential targets related to diabetes and depression. The stable binding conformation between honokiol and RXR/VDR was determined by molecular docking simulation. Moreover, hononkiol effectively alleviated depression-like behaviors in HFD diabetic mice, presented anti-diabetic and anti-neuroinflammatory functions, and protected the hippocampal neuroplasticity. Importantly, honokiol could activate RXR/VDR heterodimer in vivo. The beneficial effects of honokiol on HFD mice were significantly suppressed by UVI3003 (a RXR antagonist), while enhanced by calcitriol (a VDR agonist). Additionally, the disruption of autophagy in the hippocampus of HFD mice was ameliorated by honokiol, which was attenuated by UVI3003 but strengthened by calcitriol. Taken together, the data provide new evidence that honokiol exerts the antidepressant-like effect in HFD diabetic mice via activating RXR/VDR heterodimer to restore the balance of autophagy. Soil molybdenum (Mo) levels can reach ecologically hazardous levels. China has not yet established the relevant thresholds, posing challenges for environmental management. Therefore, we present our data relevant to Mo toxicity for several important species. By normalizing soil properties, we obtained a correlation model of Mo toxicity to Hordeum vulgare, as well as 31 models for the toxicity of other elements including Cu and Ni to invertebrates and microbial processes. Using interspecies correlation estimation (ICE) extrapolation, the sensitivity coefficient (0.12-0.71) for five plants were found. For invertebrates and microbial processes lacking Mo data, we used regression analysis to establish Mo toxicity models based on the soil quantitative ion character-activity relationships (s-QICAR; R 2 =0.70-0.95) and known toxicities of other metal elements to invertebrate and microbial processes. Furthermore, combining species sensitivity distribution calculations, the HC 5 values for protecting 95% of soil species from Mo in three typical soil scenarios in China were calculated. After correction, the predicted no-effect concentrations were 6.8, 4.8, and 3.4 mg/kg, respectively. This study innovatively combined ICE and s - QICAR to derive soil Mo thresholds. Freezing is a popular method of food preservation with multiple advantages. However, it may change the internal composition and quality of food. This study aimed to investigate the effect of modified starch on the storage stability of frozen raw noodles (FRNs) under refrigerated storage conditions. Oxidized starch (OS), a modified starch, is widely used in the food industry. In the present study, texture and cooking loss rate analyses showed that the hardness and chewiness of FRNs with added OS increased and the cooking loss rate decreased during the frozen storage process. Low-field nuclear magnetic resonance characterization confirmed that the water-holding capacity of FRNs with OS was enhanced. When 6% OS was added, the maximum freezable water content of FRNs was lower than the minimum freezable water content (51%) of FRNs without OS during freezing. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy showed that after the addition of OS, the secondary structures beneficial for structural maintenance were increased, forming a denser protein network and improving the microstructure of FRNs. Objectives: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is the deadliest subtype of breast cancer (BC). Tumor-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) trigger tumor progression by promoting M2 polarization. Some lncRNAs can be encapsulated into EVs for intercellular communication. Herein, we investigated the mechanism of TNBC-derived EV-shuttled lncRNA MALAT1 on macrophage polarization/tumorigenesis., Methods: BC-associated targeted EV-derived lncRNAs were screened. Tumor tissues/tissues adjacent to cancer of TNBC patients, and blood samples of all subjects were collected. MALAT1/POSTN mRNA levels in tumor tissues/tissues adjacent to cancer, and MALAT1 expression in EVs and its correlation with TNBC patient overall survival were assessed by RT-qPCR/Kaplan-Meier survival analysis/log-rank test. TNBC patient M2 infiltration was detected by flow cytometry. MALAT1/POSTN levels in EVs/macrophages were regulated by transfection. Hippo/YAP activation was determined by Western blot. Nude mouse xenograft model was established and metastasis was detected by H&E staining., Results: MALAT1/POSTN were up-regulated and correlated with M2 infiltration/poor prognosis in TNBC patients. TNBC-derived EVs induced M2 polarization. MALAT1 was highly expressed in TNBC-derived EVs and could be transferred to macrophages via EVs to induce M2 polarization. POSTN overexpression diminished the inhibitory effect of MALAT1 knockdown on M2 markers. EVs activated the Hippo/YAP pathway in macrophages. The Hippo/YAP pathway inhibition abrogated the effect of POSTN overexpression on M2 marker expression. The objective of this study was to investigate the changes in physicochemical and structural properties of starch isolated from hot-dry noodles (HDNS) treated with different contents of potassium carbonate (K 2 CO 3 ). The results demonstrated that the existence of K 2 CO 3 increased the WHC and hardness of HDNS gel with an elevated storage modulus. Meanwhile, K 2 CO 3 promoted the gelatinization of HDNS, which displayed higher viscosity and swelling power. Moreover, the relative crystallinity of HDNS were improved. K 2 CO 3 facilitated the transformation of HDNS from an amorphous to a more ordered and crystalline structure. Simultaneously, the microscopic characteristics exhibited that K 2 CO 3 promoted the partial fusion of starch particles to form aggregates, and the particle size became larger. Background: Patient-ventilator asynchrony (PVA) frequently occurs in mechanically ventilated patients within the ICU and has the potential for harm. Depending solely on the health care team cannot accurately and promptly identify PVA. To address this issue, our team has developed a cloud-based platform for monitoring mechanical ventilation (MV), comprising the PVA-RemoteMonitor system and the 24-h MV analysis report. We conducted a survey to evaluate physicians' satisfaction and acceptance of the platform in 14 ICUs., Methods: Data from medical records, clinical information systems, and ventilators were uploaded to the cloud platform and underwent data processing. The data were analyzed to monitor PVA and displayed in the front-end. The 24-h analysis report for MV was generated for clinical reference. Critical care physicians in 14 hospitals' ICUs that involved in the platform participated in a questionnaire survey, among whom 10 physicians were interviewed to investigate physicians' acceptance and opinions of this system., Results: The PVA-RemoteMonitor system exhibited a high level of specificity in detecting flow insufficiency, premature cycle, delayed cycle, reverse trigger, auto trigger, and overshoot, with sensitivities of 90.31 %, 98.76 %, 99.75 %, 99.97 %, 100 %, and 99.69 %, respectively. To realize the reutilization of waste Myrica rubra in the analytical field, we synthesized Myrica rubra-based N-doped carbon dots (MN-CDs) and further anchored them onto the surface of Fe 3 S 4 to fabricate Fe 3 S 4 @MN-CD nanocomposites. The as-fabricated nanocomposites possessed higher peroxidase-mimetic activity than its two precursors, resulting from the synergistic effect between them, and could catalyze colorless 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) into deep blue oxTMB with a strong 652-nm absorption. Under optimized conditions (initial solution pH, 3.5; incubation temperature, 35 ℃; Fe 3 S 4 @MN-CD concentration, 50 µg mL -1 , and 652-nm absorption), Fe 3 S 4 @MN-CDs were employed for colorimetric assay of p-aminophenol (p-AP) with wide linear range (LR, 2.9-100 µM), low detection limit (LOD, 0.87 µM), and satisfactory recoveries (86.3-105%) in environmental waters. Encouragingly, this colorimetric assay provided the relative accuracy of 97.0-99.4% as compared with  conventional HPLC-UV detection. A portable smartphone-based colorimetric application was developed by combining the Fe 3 S 4 @MN-CD-based visually chromogenic reaction with a "Thing Identify" APP software. Besides, we engineered an image-capturing device feasible for field use, in which the internal-compact sealing prevented external light source from entering photography chamber, thereby reducing light interference, and also the bottom light source enhanced the intensity of blue imaging. This colorimetric platform exhibited satisfactory LR (1-500 µM), low LOD (0.3 µM), and fortification recoveries (86.6-99.6%). The prevalence of microplastics (MPs), especially aged particles, interacting with contaminants like triclosan (TCS), raises concerns about their toxicological effects on aquatic life. This study focused on the impact of aged polyamide (APA) MPs and TCS on zebrafish lipid metabolism. APA MPs, with rougher surfaces and lower hydrophobicity, exhibited reduced TCS adsorption than unaged polyamide (PA) MPs. Co-exposure to PA/APA MPs and TCS resulted in higher TCS accumulation in zebrafish larvae, notably more with PA than APA. Larvae exposed to PA + TCS exhibited greater oxidative stress, disrupted lipid metabolism, and altered insulin pathway genes than those exposed to TCS. However, these negative effects were lessened in the APA + TCS group. Through miRNA-seq and miR-217 microinjection, it was revealed that PA + TCS co-exposure upregulated miR-217, linked to lipid metabolic disorders in zebrafish. Moreover, molecular docking showed stable interactions formed between PA, TCS, and the insulin signaling protein Pik3r2. This study demonstrated that PA and TCS co-exposure significantly inhibited the insulin signaling in zebrafish, triggering lipid metabolism dysregulation mediated by miR-217 upregulation, while APA and TCS co-exposure alleviated these disruptions. A colorimetric analysis platform has been successfully developed based on FeCo-NC dual-atom nanozyme (FeCo-NC DAzyme) for the detection of organophosphorus pesticides (OPPs). The FeCo-NC DAzyme exhibited exceptional oxidase-like activity (OXD), enabling the catalysis of colorless TMB to form blue oxidized TMB (oxTMB) without the need for H 2 O 2 involvement. By combining acid phosphatase (ACP) hydrolase with FeCo-NC DAzyme, a "FeCo-NC DAzyme + TMB + ACP + SAP" colorimetric system was constructed, which facilitated the rapid detection of malathion. The chromogenic system was applied to detect malathion using a smartphone-based app and an auxiliary imaging interferogram device for colorimetric measurements, which have a linear range of 0.05-4.0 µM and a limit of detection (LOD) as low as 15 nM in real samples, comparable to UV-Vis and HPLC-DAD detection methods. Developing a rapid detection method of Cr(VI) and ascorbic acid (AA) is vital in the food and environmental fields. Herein, an anthrylimidazole-based fluorescent ionic liquid (AI-FIL) with the advantageous fluorescent properties was successfully prepared and used to construct a promising "on-off-on" fluoroprobe for rapid/sensitive Cr(VI) and AA detection. Cr(VI) could effectively quench the fluorescence of AI-FIL owing to the inner-filter effect and photoinduced electron-transfer process. However, the decreased fluorescence could be rapidly recovered by AA owing to the redox reaction between AA and Cr(VI). For Cr(VI) detection, a satisfactorily linear response (0.03-300 μM) was achieved with the corresponding detection limit of 9 nM. For AA detection, a good linearity from 1 to 1000 μM was obtained with the resultant detection limit of 0.3 μM. Tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH), a prevalent antibiotic in aquaculture for treating bacterial infections, poses challenges for on-site detection. This study employed the reversed-phase microemulsion method to synthesize a uniform nano metal-organic framework (MOF) material, europium-benzene-p-dicarboxylic acid (Eu-BDC), doped with Tb 3+ to form a dual-emission fluorescence probe. By leveraging the combined a-photoinduced electron-transfer (a-PET) and inner filter effect (IFE) mechanisms, high-sensitivity TCH detection in Carassius auratus and Ruditapes philippinarum was achieved. The detection range for TCH is 0.380-75 μM, with a low limit of detection (LOD) at 0.115 μM. Upon TCH binding, Eu-BDC fluorescence rapidly decreased, while Tb 3+ fluorescence remained constant, establishing a ratiometric fluorescence change. Investigation into the TCH quenching mechanism on Eu-BDC was conducted using time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) calculations and fluorescence quenching kinetic equations, suggesting a mixed quenching mechanism. Furthermore, a novel photoelectric conversion fluorescence detection device (FL-2) was developed and evaluated in conjunction with high-performance liquid chromatography-diode-array detection (HPLC-DAD). To enhance welding quality and performance, preheating and post-heating are usually employed on high-temperature materials, concurrently with welding. This is a novel technique in vacuum chamber electron beam welding (EBW). TC17 and Ti 2 AlNb alloys are the hot topics in aero-engine parts, and the welding of dissimilar materials is also a broad prospect. To settle welding cracks of Ti 2 AlNb, EBW with preheating and post-heating was investigated on TC17 and Ti 2 AlNb dissimilar alloy, which improved the manufacturing technology on high-temperature materials. The dissimilar joint no longer had cracks after preheating, which exhibited excellent welding stability and metallurgical homogeneity, and preheating and annealing had an important effect on mechanical properties. The joint strength after 630 °C annealing is higher than that of TC17 alloy base metal (BM) and other annealing temperatures, reaching 1169 MPa at room temperature and 894 MPa at 450 °C tensile condition. The joint plasticity after 740 °C annealing is equivalent to TC17 BM. EBW with preheating improved the microstructure characteristics and enhanced the plasticity of Ti 2 AlNb alloy weld and dissimilar joint, which would contribute to the application of Ti 2 AlNb alloy and Ti 2 AlNb dissimilar parts.

Immobilizing Fe-based nanoparticles on electron-rich biochar has becoming an attractive heterogeneous Fenton-like catalysts (Fe/BC) for wastewater decontamination. However, the insufficient graphitization of biochar causing low electron transfer and by slow H 2 O 2 activation limited its application. Herein, we firstly constructed FeS/biochar composite through all-solid molten salt method (Fe/MSBCs), which can provide strong polarization force and liquid reaction environment to improve carbonization. As expected, the obtained Fe/MSBCs exhibits high surface area and fast interfacial electron transfer between FeS and biochar. More importantly, the partially oxidized FeS (001) facet facilitate H 2 O 2 adsorption and thermodynamically easily decomposition into •OH. Such a synergistic effect endowed them excellent photo-Fenton degradation performance for methyl orange (MO) with large kinetic rate constants (0.079 min -1 ) and high H 2 O 2 utilization efficiency (95.9%). In this study, potato starch (PS)/naringenin (NAR) complex was prepared, and its properties and emulsification behavior were evaluated. The experimental results demonstrated that NAR successfully formed a complex with PS molecules through hydrogen bonds and other non-covalent interactions. The emulsifying capacity (ROV) of PS/NAR complex with 16 % composite ratio was 0.9999, which was higher than PS (ROV = 0.3329) (p < 0.05). Based on particle property analysis and molecular dynamics simulation, the mechanism of improving the emulsification performance might be the action of the benzene ring of NAR and intermolecular hydrogen bonding. In addition, the stability of the Pickering emulsions with PS/NAR complexes as emulgators was significantly improved. The emulsifying and rheological behavior of starch-based Pickering emulsions could be adjusted by changing the proportion of the complexes. Backgrounds: Distal pancreatectomy fistula risk score (D-FRS) and DISPAIR-FRS has not been widely validated for predicting postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF) after distal pancreatectomy (DP)., Methods: We retrospectively analysed 104 patients undergoing DP. The predictive value of the D-FRS and DISPAIR-FRS were compared. Risk factors associated with POPF were investigated by multivariate analysis., Results: Of the 104 patients, 23 (22.1%) were categorized into the POPF group (all grade B). The areas under the ROC (AUCs) of the D-FRS (preoperative), D-FRS (intraoperative), and DISPAIR-FRS were 0.737, 0.809, and 0.688, respectively. Stratified by the D-FRS (preoperative), the POPF rates in low-risk, intermediate-risk, and high-risk groups were 5%, 22.6%, and 36.4%, respectively. By the D-FRS (intraoperative), the POPF rates in low-risk, intermediate-risk, and high-risk groups were 8.8%, 47.1%, and 47.4%, respectively. By the DISPAIR-FRS, the POPF rates in low-risk, intermediate-risk, and extreme-high-risk groups were 14.8%, 23.8% and 62.5%, respectively. Body mass index and main pancreatic duct diameter were independent risk factors of POPF both in preoperative (P = 0.014 and P = 0.033, respectively) and intraoperative (P = 0.015 and P = 0.039) multivariate analyses., Conclusion: Both the D-FRS (preoperative), D-FRS (intraoperative), and DISPAIR-FRS has good performance in POPF prediction after DP. The biotechnology industry is a strategic emerging industry in our country, holding a crucial position in the national economy. The training of innovative high-quality professionals carries immense significance. As the cornerstone course in biotechnology, "Enzyme Engineering" directly impacts the students' caliber and industry development. This course aims to address pertinent issues present in the current curriculum delivery, such as inadequately optimized content, excessive dependency on textbooks, and reliance on monotonous teaching methods. By adjusting the course outline, updating the case material repository, and engaging students' enthusiasm, we developed a three-dimensional approach to instruct. This approach included a blend of online and offline components, interactive teaching through the flipped classroom methodology, heuristic teaching using problem-based learning (PBL) mode, and topic teaching via case studies. We also improved the assessment mechanism to stimulate students' enthusiasm for learning nurture their innovation capabilities. Our objective was to foster high-quality professionals with a robust foundation and practical expertise. Through teaching exploration and practice, we have witnessed significant improvement in both teaching efficacy and students' engineering practice and innovation abilities.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is the most lethal subtype of BC, with unfavorable treatment outcomes. Evidence suggests the engagement of lncRNA MCM3AP-AS1 in BC development. This study investigated the action of MCM3AP-AS1 in chemoresistance of TNBC cells. Drug-resistant TNBC cell lines SUM159PT R and MDA-MB-231 R were constructed by exposure to increasing concentrations of doxorubicin/docetaxel (DOX/DXL). MCM3AP-AS1 and miR-524-5p expression levels were determined by RT-qPCR. RNA binding motif 39 (RBM39) level was measured using Western blot. Cell viability and apoptosis were assessed by CCK-8 assay and flow cytometry. The targeted binding of miR-524-5p with MCM3AP-AS1 or RBM39 was predicted by ECORI database and validated by dual-luciferase assays. The gain-and-loss of function assays were conducted in cells to investigate the interactions among MCM3AP-AS1, miR-524-5p, and RBM39. TNBC xenograft mouse models were established through subcutaneous injection of MCM3AP-AS1-silencing MDA-MB-231 R cells and intraperitoneally administrated with DOX/DXL to verify the role of MCM3AP-AS1 in vivo. MCM3AP-AS1 was upregulated in drug-resistant TNBC cells, and MCM3AP-AS1 silencing could sensitize drug-resistant TNBC cells to chemotherapeutic drugs by promoting apoptosis. MCM3AP-AS1 targeted miR-524-5p. After DOX/DXL treatment, miR-524-5p inhibition partially reversed the effect of MCM3AP-AS1 silencing on inhibiting chemoresistance and promoting apoptosis of drug-resistant TNBC cells. miR-524-5p targeted RBM39. Silencing MCM3AP-AS1 promoted apoptosis via the miR-524-5p/RBM39 axis, thereby enhancing chemosensitivity of drug-resistant TNBC cells. MCM3AP-AS1 knockdown upregulated miR-524-5p, downregulated RBM39, and restrained tumor development in vivo. The extensive utilization and potential adverse impacts of the replacement flame-retardant 2-Ethylhexyl Diphenyl Phosphate (EHDPP) have raised concerns. Currently, there is limited knowledge regarding the developmental, neurological, and immunotoxic consequences of EHDPP exposure, as well as its potential behavioral outcomes. In this study, we undertook a comprehensive examination and characterization of the toxic effects over the EHDPP concentration range of 14-1400 nM. Our findings unveiled that EHDPP, even at an environmentally relevant concentration of 14 nM, exhibited excitatory neurotoxicity, eliciting a 13.5 % increase in the swimming speed of zebrafish larvae. This effect might be attributed to the potential influence of EHDPP on the release of neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine, which, in turn, mediated anxiety-like behavior in the zebrafish larvae. Conversely, sublethal dose EHDPP (1400 nM) exposure significantly suppressed the swimming vigor of zebrafish larvae, accompanied by morphological changes, abnormal behaviors, and alterations in intracerebral molecules. Transcriptomics revealed the underlying mechanism. The utilization of pathway inhibitors reshaped the inflammatory homeostasis and alleviated the toxicity induced by EHDPP exposure, anchoring the pivotal role played by the TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway in EHDPP-induced adverse changes in zebrafish behavior and neurophysiology. This study observed the detrimental effects of EHDPP on fish sustainability at environmentally relevant concentrations, highlighting the practical significance for EHDPP risk management. Triclosan (TCS), a prevalent contaminant in aquatic ecosystems, has been identified as a potential threat to both aquatic biota and human health. Despite its widespread presence, research into the immunotoxic effects of TCS on aquatic organisms is limited, and the underlying mechanisms driving these effects remain largely unexplored. Herein, we investigated the developmental and immune toxicities of environmentally relevant concentrations of TCS in zebrafish, characterized by morphological anomalies, histopathological impairments, and fluctuations in cytological differentiation and biomarkers following both acute (from 6 to 72/120 hpf) and chronic exposure periods (from 30 to 100 dpf). Specifically, acute exposure to TCS resulted in a significant increase in innate immune cells, contrasted by a marked decrease in T cells. Furthermore, we observed that TCS exposure elicited oxidative stress and a reduction in global m 6 A levels, alongside abnormal expressions within the m 6 A modification enzyme system in zebrafish larvae. Molecular docking studies suggested that mettl3 might be a target molecule for TCS interaction. Intriguingly, the knock-down of mettl3 mirrored the effects of TCS exposure, adversely impacting the growth and development of zebrafish, as well as the differentiation of innate immune cells. This study aimed to find a unique method to assess the textural properties of Niangao (glutinous rice cakes), to determine the relationship between the textural properties of rice cakes and the indicators of glutinous rice, and to identify the key indicators that significantly affect the textural properties of Niangao. The study encompassed the analysis of the chemical composition and pasting characteristics of 22 glutinous rice varieties, revealing the substantial impact of variety on lipid content, straight-chain starch content, and pasting performance. Subsequently, the textural features of the resulting Niangao were subjected to principal component analysis (PCA) to derive a mathematical method for evaluating their textural attributes, with the obtained scores employed in hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) to identify 12 key textural characteristics. Further analysis using stepwise linear regression (SLR) demonstrated that the regression model incorporating final and peak viscosities of the glutinous rice significantly predicted the composite score of the Niangao's textural properties. This highlights the importance of final and peak viscosities as key indicators for assessing the textural quality of Niangao.

Objective: To investigate the hard and soft tissue changing trend and contributing factors of skeletal class Ⅱ hyperdivergent patients before and after orthodontic camouflage treatment by analyzing the cephalogram and the three dimensional (3D) facial scan data., Methods: Eighteen skeletal class Ⅱ hyperdivergent adult female patients who finished camouflage orthodontic treatment were selected. Skeletal and dental measurements were carried out with the cephalometric analysis before and after the treatment. 3D facial data before and after orthodontic treatment were acquired and the anatomical landmarks were set after the repositioning and superimposition process. Hard tissue measurement included 17 mea-surement indicators (sella-nasion-subspinale angle, sella-nasion-supramental angle, subspinale-nasion-supramental angle, facial angle, angle of convexity, Frankfort horizontal plane-mandibular plane angle (FH-MP), Y axis angle, sella-nasion plane-mandibular plane angle (MP-SN), pogonion-nasion-supramental distance, upper incisor-nasion-subspinale distance, upper incisor to sella-nasion, lower incisor-nasion-supramental distance, lower incisor-nasion-supramental angle, upper incisor to lower incisor, upper incisor to sella-nasion, lower incisor-mandibular plane angle, and Z angle), and the changes before and after treatment were measured for 11 of them. Twenty soft tissue landmarks (left/right cheekbone, left/right chelion, left/right crista philtra, soft tissue gnathion, left/right gonion, glabella, labrale infe-rius, labrale superius, soft tissue menton, left/right mid-mandibular border, soft tissue pogonion, stomion superius, sublabial, subnasale, and supralabial) and 9 soft tissue indicators (lower lip height, facial convexity, lower vermilion height, mandibular contour, nasolabial angle, philtral length, philtral width, upper lip height, and upper vermilion height) were measured and recorded for treatment changes. Linear-regression analysis and correlation analysis were carried out for analyzing the relationship between hard and soft tissue changes before and after the treatment., Results: Significant differences were noticed for 18 out of the 20 cephalometric measurements and facial measurements before and after the treatment ( P < 0.05), which mainly represented the sagittal retraction of lip area after the treatment. Significant vertical displacements were revealed for soft tissue menton after treatment [(1.88±2.61) mm, P < 0.05]. Significant sagittal displacements were revealed for left/right cheilion [(-2.95±1.9) mm, (-2.90±1.92) mm], labrale inferius[(-4.94±1.95) mm], labrale superius[(-3.25±1.44) mm], sublabial [(-3.10±3.5) mm], and subnasale [(-1.23±1.06) mm] after treatment ( P < 0.05). An average of 4.10°±2.57° increasement was noticed for Z angle after treatment. High correlation ( r >0.7) was noticed for the displacement of menton after treatment with FH-MP, with the rate of -0.183 :1, and MP-SN, with the rate of -0.157 :1. Moderate correlations (0.7≥ r >0.4) were noticed for the other measurements with correlations ( P < 0.05)., Conclusion: A certain extent of facial improvements could be achieved with orthodontic camouflage treatment for skeletal class Ⅱ hyperdivergent patients, which were mostly represented by the improvement of sagittal relationship of nose, lips, and chin. Certain correlations were noticed for the hard and soft tissue changes.

Herein, we developed a ratiometric fluoroprobe by integrating okra-derived carbon quantum dots (CQDs) with amplex red (AR) using manganese dioxide nanosheets (MnO 2 NSs) as a medium. Fluorescence intensities (FIs) of CQDs were sharply quenched by MnO 2 NSs via an inner-filter effect processes, whereas the FIs of AR were significantly enhanced due to oxidation of AR to AR-ox by the oxidase-mimetic activity of MnO 2 NSs. Acetyrylcholinesterase hydrolyzed acetylthiocholine to produce thiocholine, and the decomposition of MnO 2 NSs to Mn 2+ by thiocholine led to the FI recovery of CQDs, but decreased FIs of AR-ox. Based on the above phenomenon and the inhibitory effect of dichlorvos (DDVP) on acetyrylcholinesterase activity, a novel ratiometric fluoroprobe for DDVP quantification was pioneered. Fluorescence sensing technique has been used in environmental analysis due to its simplicity, low cost, and visualization. Although the fruit pulp-based biomass carbon quantum dots (CQDs) have excellent luminescent properties, aloe leaves possess the superiority of being easily accessible in all seasons compared to fruit pulp. Thus, we fabricated Aloe carazo leaf-based nitrogen doping-CQDs (N-CQDs) using a facile hydrothermal approach, which emitted bright blue fluorescence with a quantum yield of 21.4 %. By comparison, the glutathione-encapsulated copper nanoclusters (GSH-CuNCs) displayed strong red fluorescence. A blue/red dual emission based on the N-CQDs/CuNCs mixture was established for nitenpyram detection. At the 350-nm excitation, the N-CQD/CuNCs system produced dual-wavelength emitting peaks at 440 and 660 nm, respectively. Moreover, when nitenpyram was introduced into the system, the fluorescence intensities (FIs) of N-CQDs significantly decreased, whereas the FIs of GSH-CuNCs varied slightly; simultaneously, the solution color changed from bright blue to dark red. Both the spectral overlapping between nitenpyram's UV-Vis absorption and N-CQDs' excitation and almost unchanged fluorescence lifetimes indicated the occurrence of inner-filtering effect (IFE) in the dual-emitting fluoroprobe. In addition, the Stern-Volmer constant (K sv = 6.92 × 10 3  M -1 ), temperature effect, as well as UV-Vis absorption of N-CQD/CuNCs before and after the addition of nitenpyram corroborated the static-quenching behavior. Consequently, the fluorescence-quenching of N-CQDs by nitenpyram was attributable to the joint IFE and static-quenching principles. A good linearity existed between the F 660 /F 440 values and nitenpyram concentrations (0.5-200 μM) with a method detection limit of 0.15 μM. The dual-emitting fluoroprobe provided the satisfactory recoveries (95.0%-107.0 %) for nitenpyram detection in real-world waters, which were comparable with the results of traditional liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry method. We propose a new approach for detecting palladium using a two-photon fluorescent probe quenched by perchlorate. This newly developed method has the potential to overcome some of the limitations of the currently available methods for detecting palladium. This article provides a detailed introduction to the design and synthesis of fluorescent probe, as well as the fluorescence performance in aqueous solutions. The results demonstrate the probe is highly sensitive, selective, and efficient in detecting palladium. The study also includes a thorough analysis of the quenching mechanism of the probe by perchlorate, and obtained different results from previous literatures. Moreover, the probe can easily identify and differentiate between palladium being present in the valence states 0, + 2/+ 4, and accomplish detecting palladium in convoluted solutions such as wastewater, environmental water, Hela cells and zebrafish. Background: It has been confirmed that the ApoB/ApoA1 ratio is closely associated with the incidence of cardiometabolic diseases (CMD). However, due to uncontrolled confounding factors in observational studies, the causal relationship of this association remains unclear., Methods: In this study, we extracted the ApoB/ApoA1 ratio and data on CMD and its associated risk factors from the largest European Genome-Wide Association Study. The purpose was to conduct Mendelian Randomization (MR) analysis. The causal relationship between the ApoB/ApoA1 ratio and CMD was evaluated using both univariable and multivariable MR analyses. Furthermore, bidirectional MR analysis was performed to estimate the causal relationship between the ApoB/ApoA1 ratio and risk factors for CMD. The final verification confirmed whether the ApoB/ApoA1 ratio exhibits a mediating effect in CMD and related risk factors., Results: In terms of CMD, a noteworthy correlation was observed between the increase in the ApoB/ApoA1 ratio and various CMD, including ischemic heart disease, major adverse cardiovascular events, aortic aneurysm, cerebral ischemic disease and so on (all P FDR <0.05). Meanwhile, the ApoB/ApoA1 ratio was significantly associated with CMD risk factors, such as hemoglobin A1c, fasting insulin levels, waist-to-hip ratio, sedentary behavior, and various others, demonstrating a notable causal relationship (all P FDR <0.05). Additionally, the ApoB/ApoA1 ratio played a mediating role in CMD and relative risk factors., Conclusions: This MR study provides evidence supporting the significant causal relationship between the ApoB/ApoA1 ratio and CMD and its risk factors. Objective: Postoperative analgesia is crucial after video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS). This study was designed to investigate whether the analgesic effect of programmed intermittent bolus (PIB) erector spinae plane block (ESPB) is noninferior to that of intercostal nerve block with patient-controlled intravenous analgesia (ICNB-PCIA) for VATS., Methods: The study was a single-center, open labeled, randomized noninferiority trial. A total of 80 patients (American Society of Anesthesiologists I to III) undergoing elective video-assisted thoracoscopic lobectomy or bulla resection were randomly allocated to the ICNB-PCIA (n=40) or the ESPB (n=40) group using a PIB injection. The primary outcome was pain intensity at movement at 4 hours postoperatively using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Secondary outcomes included pain scores at rest and movement in the recovery room, at 8, 24, and 48 hours postoperatively, perioperative analgesics, adverse effects, hospital stay, and patient satisfaction., Results: The mean difference in NRS scores at movement at 4 hours postoperatively between the ESPB (n=39) and the ICNB-PCIA (n=37) groups was under the noninferiority margin. NRS scores were significantly higher in the ICNB-PCIA group than the ESPB group at movement postoperatively. At rest, NRS scores were significantly elevated in the ICNB-PCIA at 4, 8, and 24 hours. The postoperative opioids consumption was decreased in the ESPB group. BACKGROUND C1q/tumor necrosis factor-related protein 13 (CTRP13) preserves endothelial function and possesses anti-oxidation activity. However, its effects on ferroptosis of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) remain unclear. We investigated the effects of CTRP13 on HUVEC ferroptosis induced by oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) and explored the underlying mechanisms of CTRP13 against ferroptosis via the AMPK/KLF4 pathway. MATERIAL AND METHODS Cell Counting Kit-8 assay was used to evaluate cell viability. Lactate dehydrogenase activity and malondialdehyde content analysis were performed to evaluate the cell membrane integrity and lipid peroxidation. Mito-Tracker, JC-1, and 2',7'-dichlorofluorescein di-acetate were used to evaluate the biological activity of mitochondria, mitochondrial membrane potential, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) in endothelial cells. The ferroptosis indicator expressions, recombinant solute carrier family 7, member 11, glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4), and acyl-CoA synthetase long-chain family member 4 were examined using real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and Western blot. Immunofluorescence staining detected GPX4 location in endothelial cells. RESULTS The results demonstrate that CTRP13 (450 ng/mL) prevented HUVEC ferroptosis by inhibiting ROS overproduction and mitochondrial dysfunction, and CTRP13 accelerated antioxidant enzyme expression levels, such as heme oxygenase 1, superoxide dismutase 1, and superoxide dismutase 2, compared with the ox-LDL (100 µg/mL) group for 48 h. Additionally, CTRP13 treatment increased p-AMPK/AMPK expression by 47.65% (P<0.05) while decreasing Krüppel-like factor 4 expression by 37.43% (P<0.05) in ox-LDL-induced HUVECs and elucidated the protective effect on endothelial dysfunction from ferroptosis. CONCLUSIONS These findings provide new insights for understanding the effects and mechanism of CTRP13 on preventing endothelial cell ferroptosis.

Delaying the deterioration of bakery goods is necessary in the food industry. The objective of this study was to determine the effects of wheat oligopeptide (WOP) on the qualities of bread rolls. The effects of WOP on the baking properties, moisture content, and starch crystallization of rolls during the storage process were investigated in this study. The results showed that WOP effectively improved the degree of gluten cross-linking, thereby improving the specific volume and the internal structure of rolls. The FTIR and XRD results showed that the addition of WOP hindered the formation of the starch double helix structure and decreased its relative crystallinity. The DSC results revealed a decrease in the enthalpy change (ΔH) from 0.812 to 0.608 J/g after 7 days of storage with 1.0% WOP addition, further indicating that WOP reduced the availability of water for crystal lattice formation and hindered the rearrangement of starch molecules. The addition of WOP also improved the microstructure of the rolls that were observed using SEM analysis. In summary, WOP is expected to be an effective natural additive to inhibit starch staling and provide new insights into starchy food products.

As a typical organophosphorus flame retardant, tris(2-chloroethyl) phosphate (TCEP) is refractory in aqueous environment. The application of TAP is a promising method for removing pollutants. Herein, the removal of TCEP using TAP was rigorously investigated, and the effects of some key variables were optimized by the one-factor-at-a-time approach. To further evaluate the interactions among variables, the response surface methodology (RSM) based on central composite design was employed. Under optimized conditions (pH 5, [PS] 0 : [TCEP] 0 = 500:1), the maximum removal efficiency (RE) of TCEP reached up to 90.6%. In real-world waters, the RE of TCEP spanned the range of 56%- 65% in river water, pond water, lake water and sanitary sewage. The low-concentration Cl - (0.1 mM) promoted TCEP degradation, but the contrary case occurred when the high-concentration Cl - , NO 3 - , CO 3 2- , HCO 3 - , HPO 4 2- , H 2 PO 4 - , NH 4 + and humic acid were present owing to their prominently quenching effects on SO 4 •- . Both EPR and scavenger experiments revealed that the main radicals in the TAP system were SO 4 •- and •OH, in which SO 4 •- played the most crucial role in TCEP degradation. GC-MS/MS analysis disclosed that two degradation products appeared, sourcing from the replacement, oxidation, hydroxylation and water-molecule elimination reactions. The other two products were inferred from the comprehensive literature. As for acute toxicity to fish, daphnid and green algae, product A displayed the slightly higher toxicity, whereas other three products exhibited the declining toxicity as compared to their parent molecule. Organophosphorus flame retardants (OPFRs) are widely used in commercial products owing to their exceptional flame-retarding and plasticizing properties. However, OPFRs are also well recognized as emerging persistent organic pollutants (POPs) because of their environmental persistence, biological concentration, and potential toxicity. Thus, the accurate detection of OPFRs in environmental media is critical for analyzing their fate, transport, and ecological risk. However, very few OPFR detection methods are currently available, and the types of OPFRs detected may vary from site to site. In this study, matrix solid-phase dispersion extraction (MSPD), a simple, rapid, and versatile technique for preparing solid, semisolid, liquid, and viscous samples, was combined for the first time with gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS) to analyze 10 OPFRs in soil, namely, tripropyl phosphate (TPrP), tri- n -butyl phosphate (TnBP), tri-iso-butyl phosphate (TiBP), tris(2-chloroisopropyl) phosphate (TCIPP), tris(2-chloroethyl) phosphate (TCEP), tris(1,3-dichloro-2-propyl) phosphate (TDCPP), triphenyl phosphate (TPHP), 2-ethylhexyl diphenyl phosphate (EHDPP), triphenylphosphine oxide (TPPO), and trimethylphenyl phosphate (TCP). The GC-MS/MS system was equipped with a Bruker-5MS capillary column coupled with a triple quadrupole mass spectrometer operated in multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) mode. Prior to detection, a mixed standard solution was fortified with 10 ng of 13 C-PCB208 as an internal standard. The optimal conditions under which MSPD could achieve high selectivity for OPFRs were determined. In addition, single-factor analysis was used to examine the influence of the sorbent (i. e., C18, PSA, Florisil, GCB, and multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs)) as well as the dosage, type, and volume of the eluent on the extraction efficiency of the method for the 10 OPFRs. When GCB and ethyl acetate were used as the adsorbent and solvent, respectively, during elution, high extraction recoveries for the OPFRs were achieved. Optimization via response surface methodology (RSM) was adopted to further analyze the impact of three key factors, namely, the adsorbent dosage, eluent volume, and grinding time, as well as their interactions, on OPFR recoveries. Under the optimal conditions of 0.3 g of GCB as the adsorbent, 10 mL of ethyl acetate as the eluent, and 5 min of grinding time, the relative average recovery of the OPFRs was 87.5%. Furthermore, the 10 OPFRs showed good linear relationships under five concentration gradients, with correlation coefficients greater than 0.998. The limits of detection (LODs) and quantification (LOQs) were calculated as signal-to-noise ratios ( S/N ) of 3 and 10, respectively, and found to be in the ranges of 0.006-0.161 and 0.020-0.531 ng/g, respectively. The performance of the proposed method was verified by determining the recoveries and relative standard deviations (RSDs) of the OPFRs in soils spiked at low, medium, and high levels (10, 20, and 100 ng/g, respectively). The recoveries of the OPFRs ranged from 70.4% to 115.4%, with RSDs ranging from 0.7% to 6.7%. Compared with the conventional accelerated solvent extraction (ASE) method, MSPD presents higher efficiency, simpler operation, and less solvent requirements. The developed method was applied to determine OPFRs in soil samples collected from different sites in Suzhou, including an electronics factory, an auto-repair factory, a paddy field, and a school field. The results revealed that the contents of OPFRs in the soils from the electronics and auto-repair factories were significantly higher than those in the soils from the paddy and school fields. The main pollutants in the soil samples collected from the electronics and auto-repair factories were TCIPP, TPPO, TCEP, and TDCPP. Moreover, the contents of these compounds were 5.30, 4.44, 4.54, and 4.20 ng/g, in soils from the electronics factory and 2.70, 3.93, 7.60, and 5.04 ng/g, in soils from the auto-repair factory. To the best of our knowledge, this study is the first to determine high concentrations of TPPO in industrial soils. Thus, the combination of MSPD and GC-MS/MS adopted in this study can provide useful insights into the detection of the 10 OPFRs in soil.

Dissolved metals in the soil's liquid phase are more easily absorbed by biological tissues, thus posing potential risks to living organisms. Therefore, studying the solid-liquid partition coefficient (K d ) of metals in the soil helps understand their environmental risks. We collected 102 K d data of metals in soil from the literature to build a quantitative ion character-activity relationship model (s-QICAR) based on the metals' physicochemical properties. Correlation analysis showed ten elemental physicochemical properties related to K d , including covalent bond index, atomic mass, and first hydrolysis constant, with R 2 = 0.502-0.989. Through comparative screening, 39s-QICAR models were finally established, including covalent bond index and first hydrolysis constant. The established s-QICAR model predicted the K d values of Mo, Sb, and La in the 39 soil samples, ranging from 21 to 19978. Finally, a coupling analysis was conducted between K d -metal and soil physicochemical properties. The s-QICAR model with covalent bond index as the independent variable was mainly affected by soil pH and cation exchange capacity, while the s-QICAR model with first hydrolysis constant was influenced primarily by clay content. Therefore, this study established a predictive model for soil K d , providing a basis for soil environmental risk assessment and management. Triclocarban (TCC) is a widely used antibacterial ingredient possessing acute toxicity effects; however, its chronic toxicity and underlying molecular mechanisms remain uncertain. Herein, we demonstrated that chronic TCC exposure affects the growth and development of adult zebrafish through inducing an intestinal flora disorder in the gut. The imbalance of intestinal flora caused functional barriers within the intestinal-brain-gonadal axis. This resulted in a series of anomalous nerve and motor behaviors, and reproductive toxicity as reflected in pathological damage to parental gonads and F 1 -larval developmental malformations. Abnormal development of F 1 larvae was attributed to apoptosis induced by the up-regulation of circSGOL1. This up-regulation affected the activity and localization of the hnRNP A1 protein, which then promoted overexpression of pro-apoptotic related genes that ultimately lead to apoptosis during early embryonic development. 9α-Hydroxyandroster-4-ene-3,17-dione (9-OH-AD) is a representative steroid drug intermediate that can be prepared by phytosterols (PS) biotransformation with mycobacteria in a resting cell-cyclodextrin system. In this study, over-expression of 17β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (Hsd4A) was testified to enhance the side-chain degradation of PS and to reduce the incomplete degradation by-products. Meanwhile, the complete degradation product 4-androstene-3,17-dione (AD) was increased due to the lack of 3-Ketosteroid 9α-Hydroxylase (KshA1) activities. To increase the production and purity of 9-OH-AD, the metabolic pathway of the side-chain degradation of PS and 9-position hydroxylation was modulated by balancing the over-expression of Hsd4A and KshA1 in mycobacteria and reducing the bioconversion rate via lowering the ratio of PS and cyclodextrin. Steady-state visual evoked potential (SSVEP), one of the most popular electroencephalography (EEG)-based brain-computer interface (BCI) paradigms, can achieve high performance using calibration-based recognition algorithms. As calibration-based recognition algorithms are time-consuming to collect calibration data, the least-squares transformation (LST) has been used to reduce the calibration effort for SSVEP-based BCI. However, the transformation matrices constructed by current LST methods are not precise enough, resulting in large differences between the transformed data and the real data of the target subject. This ultimately leads to the constructed spatial filters and reference templates not being effective enough. To address these issues, this paper proposes multi-stimulus LST with online adaptation scheme (ms-LST-OA)., Methods: The proposed ms-LST-OA consists of two parts. Firstly, to improve the precision of the transformation matrices, we propose the multi-stimulus LST (ms-LST) using cross-stimulus learning scheme as the cross-subject data transformation method. The ms-LST uses the data from neighboring stimuli to construct a higher precision transformation matrix for each stimulus to reduce the differences between transformed data and real data. Secondly, to further optimize the constructed spatial filters and reference templates, we use an online adaptation scheme to learn more features of the EEG signals of the target subject through an iterative process trial-by-trial., Results: ms-LST-OA performance was measured for three datasets (Benchmark Dataset, BETA Dataset, and UCSD Dataset). Using few calibration data, the ITR of ms-LST-OA achieved 210.01±10.10 bits/min, 172.31±7.26 bits/min, and 139.04±14.90 bits/min for all three datasets, respectively., Conclusion: Using ms-LST-OA can reduce calibration effort for SSVEP-based BCIs.

The anti-aging effects of two anionic polysaccharides AG (sodium alginate)/SSPS (soluble soybean polysaccharide) and WS (wheat starch) were evaluated, and their different mechanisms were explored. The rheological properties, gelatinization properties and aging properties were characterized. The addition of AG and SSPS changed the gelatinization parameters of WS, decreased the peak viscosity, breakdown viscosity and setback viscosity, and enhanced the fluidity of the gel system. Additionally, the starch molecular orderliness experiment showed that the relative crystallinity of starch gels decreased with the increase in AG and SSPS concentrations, indicating that the rearrangement of amylopectin was disturbed, which inhibited the cross-linking of starch molecules. The water state analysis showed that the hydrophilicity of AG and SSPS and their interactions with starch molecules influenced the relaxation behavior of water protons in the gel system in a concentration-dependent manner. In conclusion, the addition of AG and SSPS could significantly inhibit the aging of WS gels, probably due to the competition effect of AG and SSPS on water and the interaction with starch molecules. Brown rice, as a kind of whole-grain food, has attracted significant attention due to its health benefits. This paper aimed to investigate the effect of rice bran content and retrograded time on the physicochemical properties and culinary qualities of brown rice noodles (BRNs). The results indicated that the addition of rice bran altered the pasting properties, gel properties, and texture of the brown rice flours (BRFs). The optimal cooking time and water absorption of BRNs were reduced after the incorporation of rice bran to 14.9% and 41.9%, respectively, while the breaking rate increased from 2.2% to 23.3%. The color of BRNs became darker and yellower, and the overall acceptability by the consumer decreased. The addition of rice bran also led to a decrease in hardness, chewiness and crystallinity. The binding water inside the BRNs decreased, while the free water increased, resulting in a looser structure. This study revealed that the retrograded time of the BRNs also affected its quality. When the retrograded time was 7 h, the cooked BRNs had a lower breaking rate, good hardness, cohesiveness, chewiness, and better overall acceptability by consumers. The structure was compact, the internal binding water content of BRN was higher, and the free water content was lower. This study provides insights into developing nutritionally healthy, high-quality novel rice flour products, and offers a theoretical basis for the industrial production of BRNs.

Background: Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) has a poor prognosis and high mortality. The relationship between the deformation capacity of the biatrial and biventricular regions in patients with DCM remains unclear., Methods: This retrospective study used cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) to assess patient enrollment between September 2020 to May 2022. Feature tracking (FT) was used to evaluate biventricular global radial strain (GRS), global circumferential strain (GCS) and global longitudinal strain (GLS). Fast long-axis method was used to evaluate biatrial GLS by analyzing balanced steady-state free precession cine images. The median follow-up period was 362 days (interquartile range: 234 to 500 days). DCM patients were divided into two groups based on the occurrence or non-occurrence of major adverse cardiac event (MACE). The primary endpoint was defined as all-cause death, heart transplantation, and adverse ventricular arrhythmia. The secondary end point included hospitalizations due to heart failure. Cox regression analysis was utilized for variables and Kaplan-Meier survival was utilized for clinical outcomes., Results: There were 124 DCM patients (52.82 ± 12.59 years, 67.74% male) and 53 healthy volunteers (53.17 ± 14.67 years, 52.83% male) recruited in this study. Biventricular GRS, GCS, GLS, and biatrial GLS were significantly impaired in the DCM group compared with the healthy group. In receiver-operating characteristic curve, biatrial GLS and biventricular GRS, GCS, and GLS showed significant prognostic value in predicting MACEs (all p < 0.05). In multivariate Cox regression analysis, left ventricular (LV) GLS offered a significant and independent prognostic value surpassing other CMR parameters in predicting MACE. In Kaplan-Meier analysis, patients with a LV GLS > -4.81% had a significantly higher rate of MACE (Log-rank p < 0.001)., Conclusions: LV GLS was independently associated with MACEs in DCM patients by using FT and fast long-axis method derived from CMR. Azithromycin (AZM) is a widely used antibiotic in both human and veterinary medicine, and its use has significantly increased during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, potential adverse effects of AZM on aquatic organisms have not been well studied. In this study, we explored the neurotoxicity of AZM in zebrafish and delved into its underlying mechanisms. Our results showed that AZM exposure resulted in a spectrum of detrimental effects in zebrafish, encompassing abnormal behaviors, damaged neuronal development, aberrant lateral line nervous system development, vascular malformations and perturbed expression of genes related to neural development. Moreover, we observed a concentration-dependent exacerbation of these neurotoxic manifestations with increasing AZM concentrations. Notably, AZM induced excessive cell apoptosis and oxidative stress damage. In addition, alterations in the expression levels of the genes involved in the VEGF/Notch signaling pathway were evident in AZM-exposed zebrafish. Consequently, we hypothesize that AZM may induce neurotoxicity by influencing the VEGF/Notch signaling pathway. To validate this hypothesis, we introduced a VEGF signaling inhibitor, axitinib, and a Notch signaling agonist, valproic acid, alongside AZM exposure. Remarkably, the administration of these rescue compounds significantly mitigated the neurotoxic effects induced by AZM. This dual verification provides compelling evidence that AZM indeed induces neurotoxicity during the early developmental stages of zebrafish, primarily through its interference with the VEGF/Notch pathway. Innovatively, our study reveals the molecular mechanism of AZM-induced neurotoxicity from the perspective of the close connection between blood vessels and nervous system.
