Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common digestive system cancer in the world. Its incidence and mortality are increasing annually. Presently, CRC lacks long-term effective treatment methods and drugs. Therefore, finding new treatment methods and drugs is of great significance for CRC treatment. Compounds derived from natural plants have been widely used in tumor research and treatment because of their good antitumor activity these years. This study found that nodosin, a diterpenoid extracted from the medicinal plant Rabdosia serra (Maxim.) Hara, inhibited the growth of CRC cells SW480, HT-29 and LoVo in a dose- and time-dependent manner, with inhibitory concentrations (IC 50 ) of 7.4, 7.7, and 6.6 μM respectively. We selected highly metastatic and poorly differentiated SW480 cells for further studies. We found that nodosin could inhibit cell proliferation by inhibiting DNA synthesis and induce cell death by inducing oxidative stress, apoptosis and autophagy in cells. Through in vitro assays combined with transcriptomic analysis, it was found that nodosin could downregulate tribbles pseudokinase 3 and upregulate oxidative stress-induced growth inhibitor 1 to induce oxidative stress in cells; nodosin-induced reactive oxygen species were able to upregulate the expression of heme oxygenase 1 to induce apoptosis and the expression of cathepsin L. and light chain-3 to induce autophagy. In vivo , we found that nodosin inhibited tumor growth and induced cells to undergo apoptosis and autophagy without significant toxic effects. In conclusion, our findings suggest that nodosin exerts anti-CRC effects mainly through its ability to induce apoptosis and autophagy in vitro and in vivo . Wheat pre-harvest sprouting (PHS) causes serious losses in wheat yield. In this study, precise mapping was carried out in the chromosome segment substitution lines (CSSL) F 2 population generated by a direct cross of Zhoumai 18 (PHS-sensitive) and Aegilops tauschii accession T093 (highly PHS-resistant). Three Ae. tauschii -derived quantitative trait loci (QTLs), QDor.3D.1 , QDor.3D.2 , and QDor.3D.3 , were detected on chromosome 3DL using four simple sequence repeats (SSR) markers and 10 developed Kompetitive allele-specific PCR (KASP) markers. Alongside these QTL results, the RNA-Seq and qRT-PCR analysis revealed expression levels of TraesCS3D01G466100 in the QDor.3D.2 region that were significantly higher in CSSLs 495 than in Zhoumai 18 during the seed imbibition treatment. The cDNA sequencing results of TraesCS3D01G466100 showed two single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), resulting in two changed amino acid substitutions between Zhoumai 18 and line 495, and the 148 nt amino acid substitution of TraesCS3D01G466100 , derived from Ae. tauschii T093, which may play an important role in the functioning of ubiquitin ligase enzymes 3 (E3) according to the homology protein analysis, which could lead to differential PHS-resistance phenotypes. Taken together, our results may foster a better understanding of the mechanism of PHS resistance and are potentially valuable for marker-assisted selection in practical wheat breeding efforts.

We are presenting a sol-gel method for building novel nanostructures made of nanosized F-doped Na 1-2 x Ti 2 (PO 4 ) 3- x F x (NTP-F x , x = 0, 0.02, 0.05, and 0.10) particles embedded in three-dimensional (3D) carbon matrices (NTP-F x /C). This technique combines advantages of both zero-dimensional materials and 3D-carbon networks. Proper fluorine doping stabilizes the NTP structure and greatly enhances ion/electron transportation, leading to superhigh-rate electrochemical performance and ultralong cycle life. The composite electrode delivers high specific capacities of 121, 115, 112.2, 110.1, 107.7, 103.1, 85.8, and 62.5 mA h g -1 at 0.2, 0.5, 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, and 30 C, respectively. It retains an unbelievable ∼70% capacity after a thousand cycles at a rate as high as 10 C. Electroanalytical results reveal that fluorine doping significantly enhances Na + diffusion kinetics. Meanwhile, density functional theory calculations demonstrate F-doped NTPs' own outstanding electrochemical properties, which is due to the enhanced intrinsic ionic/electronic conductivity. The results show that anion doping is an efficient way to make high-performance NTP anodes for sodium-ion batteries.

Intergeneric hybrids and amphidiploid hybrids from crosses of Aegilopstauschii and Secale cereale were produced using young embryo rescue. The hybrids showed complete sets of both parental chromosomes. The dihaploid plants showed an average meiotic pairing configuration of 10.84 I + 1.57 II + 0.01 III. Genomic in situ staining revealed 3 types of bivalent associations, i.e. D-D, R-R and D-R at frequencies of 8.6, 8.2 and 83.3%, respectively. Trivalents consisted of D-R-D or R-D-R associations. These results suggested that both intra- and intergenomic chromosome homology were contributed to chromosome pairing. Derived amphidiploids with 2n = 28 paired at metaphase I of meiosis as 4.51 I + 11.70 II + 0.03 III.
