Biomass holds significant potential for large-scale synthesis of hard carbon (HC), and HC is seen as the most promising anode material for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). However, designing a HC anode with a rich pore structure, moderate graphitization and synthesis through a simple process using a cost-effective precursor to advance SIBs has long been a formidable challenge. This is primarily because high temperatures necessary for pore regulation invariably lead to excessive graphitization. Herein, innovative guidelines for designing such HC structures are reported by leveraging the inherent potassium in biomass to optimize the pore structure and alleviate graphitization through a novel carbothermal shock (CTS) method. During CTS, potassium-related compounds are effectively released and counteract the tendency of the carbon layers to graphitize by competing for thermal adsorption, thus forming pore channels while mitigating graphitization. The resulting HC anode exhibits an outstanding sodium storage capacity of 357.1 mA h g -1 and a high initial coulombic efficiency of 90.7% at 50 mA g -1 . To investigate the clinical effects and application value of self-made disseminating and descending breathing exercises on home rehabilitation of patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Seeking to generate concepts for creating novel, convenient, and efficient COPD prognosis rehabilitation exercises aimed at enhancing the well-being and rehabilitation confidence of both COPD patients and their families. A total of 70 COPD patients admitted to our outpatient department from July 2019 to September 2021 were randomly divided into the exercise group ( n  = 35) and the control group ( n  = 35). The control group received routine breathing training, while the exercise group was treated with self-made disseminating and descending breathing exercises. The respiratory function, including pulmonary function (FVC, FEV1, FEV1/FVC) and respiratory muscle strength (MIP, MEP), exercise tolerance (6-min walking distance, 6MWT), Modified Medical Research Council Dyspnea Scale (mMRC, Borg), COPD quality of life score (CAT, SGRQ), anxiety and depression scores (HAMA, HAMD) were compared between the two groups after 12-week exercise. After 12-week training, the FEV1, MIP, and MEP in the exercise group were significantly higher than those in the control group ( p  < 0.001), and the 6MWT was significantly increased in the exercise group compared to the control group ( p  < 0.001); while the mMRC, Borg score, the scores of CAT, SGRQ, HAMA, and HAMD were found significantly lower than those in the control group ( p  < 0.001). The self-made disseminating and descending breathing exercises can improve respiratory function and reduce symptoms of dyspnea in COPD patients, while enhancing exercise tolerance and relieving anxiety and depression, and are worthy of clinical application.

Waste gourd shells enriched with ash-forming elements are selected as raw materials in this paper, discovering that the K and Ca compounds in the precursor not only exhibit the ability of self-forming pores, but also demonstrate catalytic graphitization of the hard carbon during the pyrolysis procedure.

The synergistic approach of combining photodynamic immunotherapy with endogenous clearance of PD-L1 immune checkpoint blockade therapy holds promise for enhancing survival outcomes in glioblastoma (GBM) patients. The observed upregulation of O-GlcNAc glycolysis in tumors may contribute to the stabilization of endogenous PD-L1 protein, facilitating tumor immune evasion. This study presents a pH-adapted excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT)-isomerized β-ketoamide-based covalent organic framework (COF) nanoplatform (denoted as OT@COF-RVG). Temozolomide (TMZ) and OSMI-4 (O-GlcNAc transferase inhibitor) were integrated into COF cavities, then modified on the surface with polyethylene glycol and the rabies virus peptide RVG-29, showing potential for sensitizing TMZ chemotherapy and initiating photodynamic therapy (PDT). By inhibiting O-GlcNAc and promoting lysosomal degradation of PD-L1, OT@COF-RVG enhanced the effectiveness of immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) therapy. Additionally, treatment with OT@COF-RVG led to a notable elevation in reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels, thereby re-establishing an immunostimulatory state, inducing immunogenic cell death (ICD). The recognized importance of ambient fine particulate matter (PM 2.5 ), ozone (O 3 ), and nitrogen dioxide (NO 2 ) on human health has prompted the world to enact increasingly strict regulations on anthropogenic nitrogen oxides (NO x ) emissions. However, the health concerns from soil NO x , potentially driven by fertilizer input but conventionally categorized as natural sources, remain less studied. Here, we emphasize the underappreciated roles of soil NO x emissions on health burden attributable to short-term PM 2.5 , O 3 , and NO 2 exposure. Globally, we quantify acute health effects using machine-learning-based daily exposure estimates and identify influences of soil NO x emissions based on chemical transport model simulations. We find that 72.3% of the globe is affected by soil NO x emissions, whose contributions to short-term PM 2.5 , O 3 , and NO 2 pollution lead to 13.9 (95% Confidence Interval [CI]: 9.1-18.8), 26.0 (18.2-34.2), and 13.9 (10.3-17.5) thousand premature mortality, respectively, in 2019. With distinct variations in regions, seasons, and pollutants, soil NO x -originated air pollution poses a global health concern, particularly for developing regions and intensively agricultural areas. In response to the intensive fertilizer use, South Asia, Southern Sub-Saharan Africa, and Central Europe witness the largest soil NO x -related health burden of up to 1.6 (95% CI: 1.1-2.1) mortality per 100k population. The overall health risk peaks in May, with O 3 pollution typically dominating the soil NO x -attributable health burden during warm seasons and NO 2 or PM 2.5 during cold months. Chemotherapy agents for lung cancer often cause apoptotic resistance in cells, leading to suboptimal therapeutic outcomes. FIN56 can be a potential treatment for lung cancer as it induces non-apoptotic cell death, namely ferroptosis. However, a bottleneck exists in FIN56-induced ferroptosis treatment; specifically, FIN56 fails to induce sufficient oxidative stress and may even trigger the defense system against ferroptosis, resulting in poor therapeutic efficacy. To overcome this, this study proposed a strategy of co-delivering FIN56 and piperlongumine to enhance the ferroptosis treatment effect by increasing oxidative stress and connecting with the autophagy pathway. FIN56 and piperlongumine were encapsulated into silk fibroin-based nano-disruptors, named FP@SFN. Characterization results showed that the particle size of FP@SFN was in the nanometer range and the distribution was uniform. Both in vivo and in vitro studies demonstrated that FP@SFN could effectively eliminate A549 cells and inhibit subcutaneous lung cancer tumors. Notably, ferroptosis and autophagy were identified as the main cell death pathways through which the nano-disruptors increased oxidative stress and facilitated cell membrane rupture. Large-scale gene duplications (LSGDs) are crucial for evolutionary adaptation and recurrent in vascular plants. However, the role of ancient LSGDs in the terrestrialization and diversification of bryophytes, the second most species-rich group of land plants, remains largely elusive due to limited sampling in bryophytes. Employing the most extensive nuclear gene dataset in bryophytes to date, we reconstructed a time-calibrated phylogenetic tree from 209 species, covering virtually all key bryophyte lineages, for phylogenomic analyses of LSGDs and diversification. We newly identified two ancient LSGDs: one in the most recent common ancestor (MRCA) of extant bryophytes and another in the MRCA of the majority of Jungermanniales s. lato. Duplicated genes from these two LSGDs show significant enrichment in photosynthesis-related processes and structures. Rhizoid-responsive ROOTHAIR DEFECTIVE SIX-LIKE (RSL) genes from ancient LSGDs are present in rhizoidless bryophytes, challenging assumptions about rhizoid absence mechanisms. We highlighted four major diversification rate upshifts, two of which slightly postdated LSGDs, potentially linked to the flourishing of gymnosperms and angiosperms and explaining over 80% of bryophyte diversity. Anion-reinforced solvation structure favors the formation of inorganic-rich robust electrode-electrolyte interface, which endows fast ion transport and high strength modulus to enable improved electrochemical performance. However, such a unique solvation structure inevitably injures the ionic conductivity of electrolytes and limits the fast-charging performance. Herein, a trade-off in tuning anion-reinforced solvation structure and high ionic conductivity is realized by the entropy-assisted hybrid ester-ether electrolyte. Anion-reinforced solvation sheath with more anions occupying the inner Na + shell is constructed by introducing the weakly coordinated ether tetrahydrofuran into the commonly used ester-based electrolyte, which merits the accelerated desolvation energy and gradient inorganic-rich electrode-electrolyte interface. The improved ionic conductivity is attributed to the weakly diverse solvation structures induced by entropy effect. These enable the enhanced rate performance and cycling stability of Prussian blue||hard carbon full cells with high electrode mass loading. Sodium-oxygen batteries have been regarded as promising energy storage devices due to their low overpotential and high energy density. Its applications, however, still face formidable challenges due to the lack of understanding about the influence of electrocatalysts on the discharge products. Here, a phosphorous and nitrogen dual-doped carbon (PNDC) based cathode is synthesized to increase the electrocatalytic activity and to stabilize the NaO 2 superoxide nanoparticle discharge products, leading to enhanced cycling stability when compared to the nitrogen-doped carbon (NDC). The PNDC air cathode exhibits a low overpotential (0.36 V) and long cycling stability (120 cycles). The reversible formation/decomposition and stabilization of the NaO 2 discharge products are clearly proven by in-situ synchrotron X-ray diffraction and ex-situ X-ray diffraction. Based on the density functional theory calculation, the PNDC has much stronger adsorption (-2.85 eV) for NaO 2 than that of NDC (-1.80 eV), which could efficiently stabilize the NaO 2 discharge products., (© 2024 The Author(s). Purpose: Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and sepsis are closely related. This study aims to identify pivotal diagnostic candidate genes in COVID-19 patients with sepsis., Patients and Methods: We obtained a COVID-19 data set and a sepsis data set from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. Identification of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and module genes using the Linear Models for Microarray Data (LIMMA) and weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA), functional enrichment analysis, protein-protein interaction (PPI) network construction, and machine learning algorithms (least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression and Random Forest (RF)) were used to identify candidate hub genes for the diagnosis of COVID-19 patients with sepsis. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were developed to assess the diagnostic value. Finally, the data set GSE28750 was used to verify the core genes and analyze the immune infiltration., Results: The COVID-19 data set contained 3,438 DEGs， and 595 common genes were screened in sepsis. sepsis DEGs were mainly enriched in immune regulation. The intersection of DEGs for COVID-19 and core genes for sepsis was 329, which were also mainly enriched in the immune system. After developing the PPI network, 17 node genes were filtered and thirteen candidate hub genes were selected for diagnostic value evaluation using machine learning. All thirteen candidate hub genes have diagnostic value, and 8 genes with an Area Under the Curve (AUC) greater than 0.9 were selected as diagnostic genes., Conclusion: Five core genes (CD3D, IL2RB, KLRC, CD5, and HLA-DQA1) associated with immune infiltration were identified to evaluate their diagnostic utility COVID-19 patients with sepsis. Importance: The clinical effects of risankizumab (a monoclonal antibody that selectively targets the p19 subunit of IL-23) for the treatment of ulcerative colitis are unknown., Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of risankizumab when administered as an induction and a maintenance therapy for patients with ulcerative colitis., Design, Setting, and Participants: Two phase 3 randomized clinical trials were conducted. The induction trial was conducted at 261 clinical centers (in 41 countries) and enrolled 977 patients from November 5, 2020, to August 4, 2022 (final follow-up on May 16, 2023). The maintenance trial was conducted at 238 clinical centers (in 37 countries) and enrolled 754 patients from August 28, 2018, to March 30, 2022 (final follow-up on April 11, 2023). Eligible patients had moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis; a history of intolerance or inadequate response to 1 or more conventional therapies, advanced therapies, or both types of therapies; and no prior exposure to risankizumab., Interventions: For the induction trial, patients were randomized 2:1 to receive 1200 mg of risankizumab or placebo administered intravenously at weeks 0, 4, and 8. For the maintenance trial, patients with a clinical response (determined using the adapted Mayo score) after intravenous treatment with risankizumab were randomized 1:1:1 to receive subcutaneous treatment with 180 mg or 360 mg of risankizumab or placebo (no longer receiving risankizumab) every 8 weeks for 52 weeks., Main Outcomes and Measures: The primary outcome was clinical remission (stool frequency score ≤1 and not greater than baseline, rectal bleeding score of 0, and endoscopic subscore ≤1 without friability) at week 12 for the induction trial and at week 52 for the maintenance trial., Results: Among the 975 patients analyzed in the induction trial (aged 42.1 [SD, 13.8] years; 586/973 [60.1%] were male; and 677 [69.6%] were White), the clinical remission rates at week 12 were 132/650 (20.3%) for 1200 mg of risankizumab and 20/325 (6.2%) for placebo (adjusted between-group difference, 14.0% [95% CI, 10.0%-18.0%], P < .001). Among the 548 patients analyzed in the maintenance trial (aged 40.9 [SD, 14.0] years; 313 [57.1%] were male; and 407 [74.3%] were White), the clinical remission rates at week 52 were 72/179 (40.2%) for 180 mg of risankizumab, 70/186 (37.6%) for 360 mg of risankizumab, and 46/183 (25.1%) for placebo (adjusted between-group difference for 180 mg of risankizumab vs placebo, 16.3% [97.5% CI, 6.1%-26.6%], P < .001; adjusted between-group difference for 360 mg of risankizumab vs placebo, 14.2% [97.5% CI, 4.0%-24.5%], P = .002). No new safety risks were detected in the treatment groups., Conclusion and Relevance: Compared with placebo, risankizumab improved clinical remission rates in an induction trial and in a maintenance trial for patients with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis. Background and Aim: The ideal bowel cleansing program still needs to be explored. The aim was to compare the bowel cleansing effect and patient tolerance of low-dose polyethylene glycol (PEG) combined with different doses of linaclotide in fractionated bowel preparation., Methods: The subjects were randomly assigned to the 3LPEG group, 2LPEG + 2L group, or 2LPEG + L group. The primary outcome was to use the Ottawa Bowel Preparation Scale (OBPS) to evaluate the efficacy of bowel cleansing, and the secondary outcomes were the detection rate of adenomas and polyps, adverse reactions, tolerance, and defecation dynamics; subsets of patients with chronic constipation and irritable bowel syndrome were also analyzed., Results: A total of 753 patients were randomly assigned. In ITT analysis, the success of preparation of the 2LPEG + 2L group was better than that of the 2LPEG + L group or the 3LPEG group (92.0% vs. 82.3% vs. 82.1%; P = 0.002). Compared with the 3LPEG group, the 2LPEG + L group showed similar but non-inferior results (82.3% vs. 82.1%, P > 0.05). The 2LPEG + 2L group was similar to the 2LPEG + L group in terms of adverse reaction, tolerance, willingness to reuse, and sleep quality, but both were superior to the 3LPEG group. In a subgroup analysis of chronic constipation, the 2LPEG + 2L group had the best cleansing effect on the right colon and mid colon, while in the subgroup analysis of irritable bowel syndrome, the tolerance was better in the 2LPEG + 2L group and the 2LPEG + L group than the 3LPEG group., Conclusions: 2LPEG + 2L is a feasible bowel preparation regimen., (© 2024. The global climate change has resulted in substantial modifications to the distribution patterns of narrowly distributed species across different time periods, leading to an imminent threat to the survival of some vulnerable species. Chimonobambusa tumidissinoda J. R. Xue & T. P. Yi ex Ohrnb., a bamboo species endemic to the transition zone from the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau to the Sichuan Basin with high economic and ecological value, exhibits a limited range and rarity. Utilizing eight environmental variables and 56 occurrence records, we employed the MaxEnt model to predict the potential distribution range of C. tumidissinoda under current and future climate scenarios. The findings revealed that precipitation of the driest month (Bio14), elevation and isothermality (Bio3) were the crucial factors determining the species' distribution, accounting for 31.24%, 28.27% and 17.24% of data variability, respectively. The distribution centroid of C. tumidissinoda is anticipated to shift towards higher latitudes in response to future climate change, and the projected habitat suitability is expected to expand under ssp245 and ssp585 scenarios while remaining unchanged or contracting under the ssp126 scenario. Despite these expansions, the suitable habitats remain limited, with the largest being approximately 2.08 × 10 4  km 2 , indicating a significant threat to its survival. The role of a low-profile visualized intraluminal support stent (LVIS) and Enterprise in the treatment of unruptured intracranial aneurysms is well established. Although previous studies have investigated one single type of stent for the treatment of ruptured intracranial aneurysms (RIA), the safety and efficacy between the two types of stents has not been fully explored. Herein we conducted a study to compare the outcomes of the two stents for treatment of RIA. This is a prospective registry database of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) patients admitted to a single institution between 2018 and 2021. We collected patient baseline information, secondary complications, follow-up angiographic data, long-term prognostic outcomes, and conducted propensity score matching (PSM) analysis with 1:1 ratio and a multivariable logistic regression to compare the outcomes of the two types of stents. A total of 231 patients with RIAs were included in this study, with 108 treated using the LVIS device and 123 treated using the Enterprise device. Before PSM analysis, only the incidence of poor prognosis after 12 months was higher in the Enterprise group comparing to the LVIS group (20% vs. 10%, P = 0.049). After PSM analysis, there was a higher occurrence of delayed cerebral ischemia (DCI) in the Enterprise group compared to the LVIS group (odds ratio [OR] 3.95, 95% confidence interval [CI] [1.20-13.01], P = 0.024). However, no significant difference in prognosis was observed after PSM adjustment. Furthermore, subgroup analysis revealed that patients with female (P = 0.019), hypertension (P = 0.048), and anterior circulation aneurysms (P = 0.019) receiving the Enterprise device had a higher risk of DCI. The overall efficacy of LVIS and Enterprise in the treatment of RIA is comparable, while the incidence of DCI in the LVIS group is lower than that in the Enterprise group after PSM analysis. Peroxidase-like (POD-like) as a kind of new Fenton-like catalyst can effectively activate H 2 O 2 to degrade organic pollutants in water, but improving the catalytic activity and stability of POD-like remains a challenging task. Here, we synthesized a novel dual single-atom nanoenzyme (DSAzyme) FeMn/N-CNTs with Fe-N 4 and Mn-N 4 bimetallic single-atom active centers by mimicking the active centers of natural enzymes and taking advantage of the synergistic effect between the dual metals. FeMn/N-CNTs DSAzyme showed significantly enhanced POD-like activity compared to monometallic-loaded Fe/N-CNTs and Mn/N-CNTs. Within the FeMn/N-CNTs/H 2 O 2 system, bisphenol A (BPA) could be removed 100 % within 20 min. DFT calculations show that Mn-N 4 in FeMn/N-CNTs can readily adsorb negatively charged BPA molecules and capture electrons. Meanwhile, Fe-N 4 sites can easily adsorb H 2 O 2 molecules, leading to their activation and splitting into strongly oxidizing hydroxyl radicals (·OH). Throughout this process, electrons are continuously recycled in BPA → Mn-N 4 → Fe-N 4 → H 2 O 2 , effectively promoting the regeneration of Fe 2+ . Background: Distinguishing benign from malignant sub-centimeter solid pulmonary nodules (SSPNs) continues to be challenging in clinical practice. Earlier diagnosis is crucial for improving patient survival and prognosis. This study aimed to investigate the risk factors of malignant SSPNs and establish and validate a prediction model based on computed tomography (CT) characteristics to assist in their early diagnosis., Methods: A total of 261 consecutive participants with 261 SSPNs were retrospectively recruited between January 2012 and July 2023 from National Cancer Center/National Clinical Research Center for Cancer/Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College (Center 1), including 161 malignant lesions and 100 benign lesions. Patients were randomly assigned to the training set (n=183) and validation set (n=78) according to a 7:3 ratio. Malignant nodules were confirmed by pathology; and benign nodules were confirmed by follow-up or pathology. Clinical data and CT features were collected to estimate the independent predictors of malignancy of SSPN with multivariate logistic analysis. A clinical prediction model was subsequently established by logistic regression. Furthermore, an additional 69 consecutive patients with 69 SSPNs from The Fourth Hospital of Hebei Medical University (Center 2) between January 2022 and December 2022 were retrospectively included as an external cohort to validate the predictive efficacy of the model. The performance of the prediction model was assessed by sensitivity, specificity, and the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve., Results: There were 113 (61.7%), 48 (61.5%) and 28 (40.6%) malignant SSPNs in the training, internal and external validation sets, respectively. Multivariate logistic analysis revealed four independent predictors of malignant SSPNs: tumor-lung interface (P=0.002), spiculation (P=0.04), air bronchogram (P=0.047), and invisible at the mediastinal window (P=0.003). The area under the curve (AUC) for the prediction model in the training set was 0.875 [95% confidence interval (CI): 0.818, 0.933]; and the sensitivity and specificity were 94.7% and 68.6%, respectively. Background: The efficacy and safety of risankizumab as compared with ustekinumab in patients with Crohn's disease are unknown., Methods: In this phase 3b, multicenter, open-label, randomized, controlled trial with blinded assessment of end points, patients with moderate-to-severe Crohn's disease who had had an inadequate response to anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF) therapy or unacceptable side effects with such therapy were randomly assigned to receive risankizumab or ustekinumab at standard doses for 48 weeks. The two primary end points, which were tested sequentially, were clinical remission at week 24 (defined as a Crohn's Disease Activity Index score of <150 [range, 0 to 600, with higher scores indicating more severe disease activity]), which was analyzed in the first 50% of patients to complete the week 24 visit, with a noninferiority margin of 10 percentage points; and endoscopic remission at week 48 (defined as a score of ≤4, a decrease of ≥2 points from baseline, and no subscore >1 in any individual variable on the Simple Endoscopic Score for Crohn's Disease [range, 0 to 56, with higher scores indicating more severe disease]), which was analyzed for superiority in 100% of the patients. Safety was assessed in all patients who received at least one dose of risankizumab or ustekinumab., Results: In the full intention-to-treat population for the efficacy analysis, 230 of 255 patients (90.2%) who received risankizumab and 193 of 265 patients (72.8%) who received ustekinumab completed all the assigned treatments. Both primary end points were met; risankizumab was noninferior to ustekinumab with respect to clinical remission at week 24 (58.6% vs. 39.5%; adjusted difference, 18.4 percentage points; 95% confidence interval [CI], 6.6 to 30.3) and superior to ustekinumab with respect to endoscopic remission at week 48 (31.8% vs. 16.2%; adjusted difference, 15.6 percentage points; 95% CI, 8.4 to 22.9; P<0.001). The incidence of adverse events appeared to be similar in the two groups., Conclusions: In this head-to-head clinical trial of risankizumab and ustekinumab involving patients with moderate-to-severe Crohn's disease who had had unacceptable side effects with anti-TNF therapy or an inadequate response to such therapy, risankizumab was noninferior to ustekinumab with respect to clinical remission at week 24 and superior with respect to endoscopic remission at week 48. Short-term exposure to particles with aerodynamic diameters less than 2.5 μm (PM 2.5 ) and ozone (O 3 ) are important risk factors for human health. Despite the awareness of reducing attributable health burden, region-specific and source-specific strategies remain less explored due to the gap between precursor emissions and health effects. In this study, we isolate the health burden of individual sector sources of PM 2.5 and O 3 precursors, nitrogen oxides (NO x ) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), across the globe. Specifically, we estimate mortalities attributable to short-term exposure using machine-learning-based daily exposure estimates and quantify sectoral impacts using chemical transport model simulations. Globally, short-term exposure to PM 2.5 and O 3 result in 713.5 (95% Confidence Interval: 598.8-843.3) thousand and 496.3 (371.3-646.1) thousand mortalities in 2019, respectively, of which 12.5% are contributed by fuel-related NO x emissions from transportation, energy, and industry. Sectoral impacts from anthropogenic NO x and VOC emissions on health burden vary significantly among seasons and regions, requiring a target shift from transportation in winter to industry in summer for East Asia, for instance. Emission control and health management are additionally complicated by unregulated natural influences during climatic events. Fire-sourced NO x and VOC emissions, respectively, contribute to 8.5 (95% CI: 6.2-11.7) thousand and 4.8 (3.6-5.9) thousand PM 2.5 and O 3 mortalities, particularly for tropics with high vulnerability to climate change. Additionally, biogenic VOC emissions during heatwaves contribute to 1.8 (95% CI: 1.5-2.2) thousand O 3 -introduced mortalities, posing challenges in urban planning for high-income regions, where biogenic contributions to health burden during heatwaves are 13% of anthropogenic contributions annually. Our study provides important implications for temporally dynamic and sector-targeted emission control and health management strategies, which are of urgency under the projection of continuously increasing energy consumption and changing climate.

Intrinsically safe sodium-ion batteries are considered as a promising candidate for large-scale energy storage systems. However, the high flammability of conventional electrolytes may pose serious safety threats and even explosions. Herein, a strategy of constructing a deep eutectic electrolyte is proposed to boost the safety and electrochemical performance of succinonitrile (SN)-based electrolyte. The strong hydrogen bond between S═O of 1,3,2-dioxathiolane-2,2-dioxide (DTD) and the α-H of SN endows the enhanced safety and compatibility of SN with Lewis bases. Meanwhile, the DTD participates in the inner Na + sheath and weakens the coordination number of SN. The unique solvation configuration promotes the formation of robust gradient inorganic-rich electrode-electrolyte interphase, and merits stable cycling of half-cells in a wide temperature range, with a capacity retention of 82.8% after 800 cycles (25 °C) and 86.3% after 100 cycles (60 °C). Protein aggregation is a pathological feature in various neurodegenerative diseases and is thought to play a crucial role in the onset and progression of neurological disorders. This pathological phenomenon has attracted increasing attention from researchers, but the underlying mechanism has not been fully elucidated yet. Researchers are increasingly interested in identifying chemicals or methods that can effectively detect protein aggregation or maintain protein stability to prevent aggregation formation. To date, several methods are available for detecting protein aggregates, including fluorescence correlation spectroscopy, electron microscopy, and molecular detection methods. Unfortunately, there is still a lack of methods to observe protein aggregation in situ under a microscope. This article reviews the two main aspects of protein aggregation: the mechanisms and detection methods of protein aggregation. This paper proposes a novel censored autoregressive conditional Fréchet (CAcF) model with a flexible evolution scheme for the time-varying parameters, which allows deciphering tail risk dynamics constrained by price limits from the viewpoints of different risk preferences. The proposed model can well accommodate many important empirical characteristics of financial data, such as heavy-tailedness, volatility clustering, extreme event clustering, and price limits. We then investigate tail risk dynamics via the CAcF model in the price-limited stock markets, taking entropic value at risk (EVaR) as a risk measurement. Our findings suggest that tail risk will be seriously underestimated in price-limited stock markets when the censored property of limit prices is ignored. Additionally, the evidence from the Chinese Taiwan stock market shows that widening price limits would lead to a decrease in the incidence of extreme events (hitting limit-down) but a significant increase in tail risk. Moreover, we find that investors with different risk preferences may make opposing decisions about an extreme event. In summary, the empirical results reveal the effectiveness of our model in interpreting and predicting time-varying tail behaviors in price-limited stock markets, providing a new tool for financial risk management.

Potassium-ion batteries (PIBs) are considered potential candidates for large-scale energy storage systems due to the abundant resources of potassium. Among various reported anode materials, bismuth anodes with the advantages of high theoretical specific capacity, low cost, and nontoxicity have attracted widespread attention. However, bismuth anodes experience significant volume changes during the charge/discharge process, leading to unsatisfactory cycling stability and rate performance. In this review, we focus on summarizing the research progress of bismuth anodes in PIBs. We discuss in detail the modification strategies for bismuth anodes in PIBs, including electrolyte optimization, morphology design, and hybridization with carbon materials. In addition, we attempt to propose possible future directions for the development of bismuth anodes in PIBs, aiming to expedite their practical application. Itch is one of the most common clinical symptoms in patients with diseases of the skin, liver, or kidney, and it strongly triggers aversive emotion and scratching behavior. Previous studies have confirmed the role of the prelimbic cortex (Prl) and the nucleus accumbens core (NAcC), which are reward and motivation regulatory centers, in the regulation of itch. However, it is currently unclear whether the Prl-NAcC projection, an important pathway connecting these two brain regions, is involved in the regulation of itch and its associated negative emotions. In this study, rat models of acute neck and cheek itch were established by subcutaneous injection of 5-HT, compound 48/80, or chloroquine. Immunofluorescence experiments determined that the number of c-Fos-immunopositive neurons in the Prl increased during acute itch. Chemogenetic inhibition of Prl glutamatergic neurons or Prl-NAcC glutamatergic projections can inhibit both histaminergic and nonhistaminergic itch-scratching behaviors and rectify the itch-related conditioned place aversion (CPA) behavior associated with nonhistaminergic itch. Dicranum Hedw. is a highly diverse and widely distributed genus within Dicranaceae. The species diversity and distribution of this genus in China, however, remain not well known. A new revision of Dicranum in China using morphological and molecular phylogenetic methods confirms that China has 39 species, including four newly reported species, D. bardunovii Tubanova & Ignatova, D. dispersum Engelmark, D. schljakovii Ignatova & Tubanova, and D. spadiceum J.E.Zetterst. Dicranum psathyrum Klazenga is transferred to Dicranoloma (Renauld) Renauld as a new synonym of Dicranoloma fragile Broth. Two species, Dicranum brevifolium (Lindb.) Lindb. and D. viride (Sull. & Lesq.) Lindb. are excluded from the bryoflora of China. A key to the Chinese Dicranum species is also provided. These results indicate an underestimation of the distribution range of numerous Dicranum species, underscoring the need for further in-depth investigations into the worldwide Dicranum diversity.

In order to take advantage of the distinct reversible multielectron transfer properties of polyoxometalates (POMs) and increase the electron density at the active sites during the electrochemical reduction of CO 2 (CO 2 RR), a range of transition metal-doped polyoxometalates (TMSPOMs) was entrapped within the porphyrin-based framework of PCN-224 via an encapsulation method, known as TMSPOMs@PCN-224 (TMSPOMs = [XW 11 O 39 M II (H 2 O)] n- , [XW 11 O 40 V IV ] n- , M = Co II , Mn II ; X = Si, n = 6; X = P, n = 5). The central elements (Si, P) and the incorporated transition metals (V IV , Co II , and Mn II ) both play a role in adjusting the electronic structure and electron transfer during the CO 2 RR process. Remarkably, the composite material with cobalt substitution displayed significantly improved performance. Through fine-tuning the POM loading, the electrocatalytic activity was optimized, leading to an impressive Faradaic efficiency for CO production (FE CO ) of 89.9% for SiW 11 Co@PCN-224, a significant improvement compared to the 12.1% FE CO of PCN-224. Furthermore, the electrochemical stability of this catalyst was demonstrated over 20 h. Comparative analyses involving six composite materials indicated a relationship between the negative charge of the polyanions and their ability to facilitate effective electron transfer, ultimately enhancing the catalyst's performance. Meanwhile, these findings were supported by density functional theory (DFT) calculations.

The recently discovered superconductivity with critical temperature T&#95;{c} up to 80 K in the double-layer Nickelate La&#95;{3}Ni&#95;{2}O&#95;{7-δ} under pressure has drawn great attention. Here, we report the positive muon spin relaxation (μ^{+}SR) study of polycrystalline La&#95;{3}Ni&#95;{2}O&#95;{6.92} under ambient pressure. Zero-field μ^{+}SR experiments reveal the existence of magnetic order in La&#95;{3}Ni&#95;{2}O&#95;{6.92} with T&#95;{N}=154  K. The weak transverse field μ^{+}SR measurements reveal the bulk nature of magnetism. In addition, a small quantity of oxygen deficiencies can greatly broaden the internal magnetic field distribution sensed by muons.

Cobalt substitution for manganese sites in Na 0.44 MnO 2 initiates a dynamic structural evolution process, yielding a composite cathode material comprising intergrown P2 and P3 phases. The novel P2/P3 composite cathode exhibits a reversible phase transition process during Na + extraction/insertion, showcasing its attractive battery performance in sodium-ion batteries.

High-voltage LiNi 0.5 Mn 1.5 O 4 (LNMO) is one of the most promising cathode candidates for rechargeable lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) but suffers from deteriorated cycling stability due to severe interfacial side reactions and manganese dissolution. Herein, a micro-nano porous spherical LNMO cathode was designed for high-performance LIBs. The disordered structure and the preferred exposure of the {111} facets can be controlled by the release of lattice oxygen in the high-temperature calcination process. The unique configuration of this material could enhance the structural stability and play a crucial role in inhibiting manganese dissolution, promoting the rapid transport of Li + , and reducing the volume strain during the charge/discharge process. The designed cathode exhibits a remarkable discharge capacity of 136.7 mA h g -1 at 0.5C, corresponding to an energy density of up to 636.4 W h kg -1 , unprecedented cycling stability (capacity retention of 90.6% after 500 cycles) and superior rate capability (78.9% of initial capacity at 10C). Background: Deep learning (DL)-assisted detection and segmentation of intracranial hemorrhage stroke in noncontrast computed tomography (NCCT) scans are well-established, but evidence on this topic is lacking., Materials and Methods: PubMed and Embase databases were searched from their inception to November 2023 to identify related studies. The primary outcomes included sensitivity, specificity, and the Dice Similarity Coefficient (DSC); while the secondary outcomes were positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV), precision, area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC), processing time, and volume of bleeding. Random-effect model and bivariate model were used to pooled independent effect size and diagnostic meta-analysis data, respectively., Results: A total of 36 original studies were included in this meta-analysis. Pooled results indicated that DL technologies have a comparable performance in intracranial hemorrhage detection and segmentation with high values of sensitivity (0.89, 95% CI: 0.88-0.90), specificity (0.91, 95% CI: 0.89-0.93), AUROC (0.94, 95% CI: 0.93-0.95), PPV (0.92, 95% CI: 0.91-0.93), NPV (0.94, 95% CI: 0.91-0.96), precision (0.83, 95% CI: 0.77-0.90), DSC (0.84, 95% CI: 0.82-0.87). There is no significant difference between manual labeling and DL technologies in hemorrhage quantification (MD 0.08, 95% CI: -5.45-5.60, P =0.98), but the latter takes less process time than manual labeling (WMD 2.26, 95% CI: 1.96-2.56, P =0.001)., Conclusion: This systematic review has identified a range of DL algorithms that the performance was comparable to experienced clinicians in hemorrhage lesions identification, segmentation, and quantification but with greater efficiency and reduced cost. Electrochemical biosensors have emerged as one of the promising tools for tracking human body physiological dynamics via non-invasive perspiration analysis. However, it remains a key challenge to integrate multiplexed sensors in a highly controllable and reproducible manner to achieve long-term reliable biosensing, especially on flexible platforms. Herein, a fully inkjet printed and integrated multiplexed biosensing patch with remarkably high stability and sensitivity is reported for the first time. These desirable characteristics are enabled by the unique interpenetrating interface design and precise control over active materials mass loading, owing to the optimized ink formulations and droplet-assisted printing processes. The sensors deliver sensitivities of 313.28 µA mm -1 cm -2 for glucose and 0.87 µA mm -1 cm -2 for alcohol sensing with minimal drift over 30 h, which are among the best in the literature. The integrated patch can be used for reliable and wireless diet monitoring or medical intervention via epidermal analysis and would inspire the advances of wearable devices for intelligent healthcare applications., (© 2024 The Authors. P3-layered transition oxide cathodes have garnered considerable attention owing to their high initial capacity, rapid Na + kinetics, and less energy consumption during the synthesis process. Despite these merits, their practical application is hindered by the substantial capacity degradation resulting from unfavorable structural transformations, Mn dissolution and migration. In this study, we systematically investigated the failure mechanisms of P3 cathodes, encompassing Mn dissolution, migration, and the irreversible P3-O3' phase transition, culminating in severe structural collapse. To address these challenges, we proposed an interfacial spinel local interlocking strategy utilizing P3/spinel intergrowth oxide as a proof-of-concept material. As a result, P3/spinel intergrowth oxide cathodes demonstrated enhanced cycling performance. The effectiveness of suppressing Mn migration and maintaining local structure of interfacial spinel local interlocking strategy was validated through depth-etching X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray absorption spectroscopy, and in situ synchrotron-based X-ray diffraction. This interfacial spinel local interlocking engineering strategy presents a promising avenue for the development of advanced cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries.

Zn deposition with a surface-preferred (002) crystal plane has attracted extensive attention due to its inhibited dendrite growth and side reactions. However, the nucleation and growth of the Zn(002) crystal plane are closely related to the interfacial properties. Herein, oriented growth of Zn(002) crystal plane is realized on Ag-modified surface that is directly visualized by in situ atomic force microscopy. A solid solution HCP-Zn (~1.10 at. % solubility of Ag, 30 °C) is formed on the Ag coated Zn foil (Zn@Ag) and possesses the same crystal structure as Zn to reduce its nucleation barrier caused by their lattice mismatch. It merits oriented Zn deposition and corrosion-resistant surface, and presents long cycling stability in symmetric cells and full cells coupled with V 2 O 5 cathode. The maximum Rubisco carboxylation rate normalized to 25 °C (V cmax25 ) is a key parameter in terrestrial biosphere models for simulating carbon cycling. Recently, global distributions of V cmax25 have been derived through various methods and different data, including field measurements, ecological optimality theory (EOT), leaf chlorophyll content (LCC), and solar-induced chlorophyll fluorescence (SIF). However, direct validation poses challenges due to high uncertainty arising from limited ground-based observations. This study conducted an indirect evaluation of four V cmax25 datasets by assessing the accuracy of gross primary productivity (GPP) simulated using the Biosphere-atmosphere Exchange Process Simulator (BEPS) at both site and global scales. Results indicate that, compared to utilizing V cmax25 fixed by plant functional types (PFT) derived from field measurements, incorporating V cmax25 derived from SIF and LCC (SIF + LCC), or solely LCC, into BEPS significantly reduces simulated errors in the annual total GPP, with a 23.2 %-25.1 % decrease in the average absolute bias across 196 FLUXNET2015 sites. Daily GPP for evergreen needleleaf forests, deciduous broadleaf forests, shrublands, grasslands, and croplands shows a 7.8 %-27.6 % decrease in absolute bias, primarily attributed to reduced simulation errors during off-peak seasons of vegetation growth. Conversely, the annual total GPP error simulated using EOT-derived V cmax25 increases slightly (2.2 %) compared to that simulated using PFT-fixed V cmax25 . This is primarily due to a significant overestimation in evergreen broadleaf forests and underestimation in croplands, despite slight increased accuracy for other PFTs. The global annual GPP simulated using V cmax25 with seasonal variations (i.e., LCC V cmax25 and SIF + LCC V cmax25 ) yields a 4.3 %-7.3 % decrease compared to that simulated using PFT-fixed V cmax25 . Compared to FLUXCOM and GOSIF GPP products, the GPP simulated based on SIF + LCC V cmax25 and LCC V cmax25 demonstrates better consistency (R 2  = 0.91-0.93, RMSE = 314.2-376.6 g C m -2  yr -1 ). Events of stratospheric intrusions to the surface (SITS) can lead to severe ozone (O 3 ) pollution. Still, to what extent SITS events impact surface O 3 on a national scale over years remains a long-lasting question, mainly due to difficulty of resolving three key SITS metrics: frequency, duration and intensity. Here, we identify 27,616 SITS events over China during 2015-2022 based on spatiotemporally dense surface measurements of O 3 and carbon monoxide, two effective indicators of SITS. An overview of the three metrics is presented, illustrating large influences of SITS on surface O 3 in China. We find that SITS events occur preferentially in high-elevation regions, while those in plain regions are more intense. SITS enhances surface O 3 by 20 ppbv on average, contributing to 30-45% of O 3 during SITS periods. Nationally, SITS-induced O 3 peaks in spring and autumn, while over 70% of SITS events during the warm months exacerbate O 3 pollution. Over 2015-2022, SITS-induced O 3 shows a declining trend. Tropospheric nitrogen dioxide (NO 2 ) poses a serious threat to the environmental quality and public health. Satellite NO 2 observations have been continuously used to monitor NO 2 variations and improve model performances. However, the accuracy of satellite NO 2 retrieval depends on the knowledge of aerosol optical properties, in particular for urban agglomerations accompanied by significant changes in aerosol characteristics. In this study, we investigate the impacts of aerosol composition on tropospheric NO 2 retrieval for an 18 year global data set from Global Ozone Monitoring Experiment (GOME)-series satellite sensors. With a focus on cloud-free scenes dominated by the presence of aerosols, individual aerosol composition affects the uncertainties of tropospheric NO 2 columns through impacts on the aerosol loading amount, relative vertical distribution of aerosol and NO 2 , aerosol absorption properties, and surface albedo determination. Among aerosol compositions, secondary inorganic aerosol mostly dominates the NO 2 uncertainty by up to 43.5% in urban agglomerations, while organic aerosols contribute significantly to the NO 2 uncertainty by -8.9 to 37.3% during biomass burning seasons. The possible contrary influences from different aerosol species highlight the importance and complexity of aerosol correction on tropospheric NO 2 retrieval and indicate the need for a full picture of aerosol properties. This is of particular importance for interpreting seasonal variations or long-term trends of tropospheric NO 2 columns as well as for mitigating ozone and fine particulate matter pollution.

Uncontrolled inflammation contributes significantly to the mortality in acute respiratory infections. Our previous research has demonstrated that maize bran feruloylated oligosaccharides (FOs) possess notable anti-inflammatory properties linked to the NF-kB pathway regulation. In this study, we clarified that the oral administration of FOs moderately inhibited H1N1 virus infection and reduced lung inflammation in influenza-infected mice by decreasing a wide spectrum of cytokines (IFN-α, IFN-β, IL-6, IL-10, and IL-23) in the lungs. The mechanism involves FOs suppressing the transduction of the RIG-I/MAVS/TRAF3 signaling pathway, subsequently lowering the expression of NF-κB. In silico analysis suggests that FOs have a greater binding affinity for the RIG-I/MAVS signaling complex. This indicates that FOs have potential as promising targets for immune modulation. Moreover, in MAVS knockout mice, we confirmed that the anti-inflammatory function of FOs against influenza depends on MAVS. Comprehensive analysis using 16S rRNA gene sequencing and metabolite profiling techniques showed that FOs have the potential to restore immunity by modulating the gut microbiota. In conclusion, our study demonstrates that FOs are effective anti-inflammatory phytochemicals in inhibiting lung inflammation caused by influenza. This suggests that FOs could serve as a potential nutritional strategy for preventing the H1N1 virus infection and associated lung inflammation.

Sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) are experiencing a large-scale renaissance to supplement or replace expensive lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) and low energy density lead-acid batteries in electrical energy storage systems and other applications. In this case, layered oxide materials have become one of the most popular cathode candidates for SIBs because of their low cost and comparatively facile synthesis method. However, the intrinsic shortcomings of layered oxide cathodes, which severely limit their commercialization process, urgently need to be addressed. In this review, inherent challenges associated with layered oxide cathodes for SIBs, such as their irreversible multiphase transition, poor air stability, and low energy density, are systematically summarized and discussed, together with strategies to overcome these dilemmas through bulk phase modulation, surface/interface modification, functional structure manipulation, and cationic and anionic redox optimization. Emphasis is placed on investigating variations in the chemical composition and structural configuration of layered oxide cathodes and how they affect the electrochemical behavior of the cathodes to illustrate how these issues can be addressed. The summary of failure mechanisms and corresponding modification strategies of layered oxide cathodes presented herein provides a valuable reference for scientific and practical issues related to the development of SIBs.

Hard carbon (HC) is one of the most promising anode materials for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) due to its cost-effectiveness and low-voltage plateau capacity. Heteroatom doping is considered as an effective strategy to improve the sodium storage capacity of HC. However, most of the previous heteroatom doping strategies are performed at a relatively low temperature, which could not be utilized to raise the low-voltage plateau capacity. Moreover, extra doping of heteroatoms could create new defects, leading to a low initial coulombic efficiency (ICE). Herein, we propose a repair strategy based on doping a trace amount of P to achieve a high capacity along with a high ICE. By employing the cross-linked interaction between glucose and phytic acid to achieve the in situ P doped spherical hard carbon, the obtained PHC-0.2 possesses a large interlayer space that facilitates Na + storage and transportation. In addition, doping a suitable amount of P could repair some defects in carbon layers. When used as an anode material for SIBs, the PHC-0.2 exhibits an enhanced reversible capacity of 343 mA h g -1 at 20 mA g -1 with a high ICE of 92%. Full cells consisting of a PHC-0.2 anode and a Na 2 Fe 0.5 Mn 0.5 [Fe(CN) 6 ] cathode exhibited an average potential of 3.1 V with an initial discharge capacity of 255 mA h g -1 and an ICE of 85%. The full cell displays excellent cycling stability with a capacity retention of 80.3% after 170 cycles. Layered oxides have become the research focus of cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) due to the low cost, simple synthesis process, and high specific capacity. However, the poor air stability, unstable phase structure under high voltage, and slow anionic redox kinetics hinder their commercial application. In recent years, the concept of manipulating orbital hybridization has been proposed to simultaneously regulate the microelectronic structure and modify the surface chemistry environment intrinsically. In this review, the hybridization modes between atoms in 3d/4d transition metal (TM) orbitals and O 2p orbitals near the region of the Fermi energy level (E F ) are summarized based on orbital hybridization theory and first-principles calculations as well as various sophisticated characterizations. Furthermore, the underlying mechanisms are explored from macro-scale to micro-scale, including enhancing air stability, modulating high working voltage, and stabilizing anionic redox chemistry. Meanwhile, the origin, formation conditions, and different types of orbital hybridization, as well as its application in layered oxide cathodes are presented, which provide insights into the design and preparation of cathode materials. Objective: The relationships between immediate bleeding severity, postoperative complications, and long-term functional outcomes in patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) remain uncertain. Here, the authors apply their recently developed automated deep learning technique to quantify total bleeding volume (TBV) in patients with aSAH and investigate associations between quantitative TBV and secondary complications, adverse long-term functional outcomes, and death., Methods: Electronic health record data were extracted for adult patients admitted to a single institution within 72 hours of aSAH onset between 2018 and 2021. An automatic deep learning model was used to fully segment and quantify TBV on admission noncontrast head CT images. Patients were subgrouped by TBV quartile, and multivariable logistic regression, restricted cubic splines, and subgroup analysis were used to explore the relationships between TBV and each clinical outcome., Results: A total of 819 patients were included in the study. Sixty-six (8.1%) patients developed hydrocephalus, while 43 (5.3%) experienced rebleeding, 141 (17.2%) had delayed cerebral ischemia, 88 (10.7%) died in the 12 months after discharge, and 208 (25.7%) had a modified Rankin Scale score ≥ 3 12 months after discharge. On multivariable analysis, patients in the highest TBV quartile (> 37.94 ml) had an increased risk of hydrocephalus (adjusted OR [aOR] 4.38, 95% CI 1.61-11.87; p = 0.004), rebleeding (aOR 3.26, 95% CI 1.03-10.33; p = 0.045), death (aOR 6.92, 95% CI 1.89-25.37; p = 0.004), and 12-month disability (aOR 3.30, 95% CI 1.62-6.72; p = 0.001) compared with the lowest TBV quantile (< 8.34 ml). The risks of hydrocephalus (nonlinear, p = 0.025), rebleeding, death, and disability (linear, p > 0.05) were positively associated with TBV by restricted cubic splines. In subgroup analysis, TBV had a stronger effect on 12-month outcome in female than male patients (p for interaction = 0.0499) and on rebleeding prevalence in patients with endovascular coiling than those with surgical clipping (p for interaction = 0.008)., Conclusions: Elevated TBV is associated with a greater risk of hydrocephalus, rebleeding, death, and poor prognosis.

Alloying-type antimony (Sb) with high theoretical capacity is a promising anode candidate for both lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) and sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). Given the larger radius of Na + (1.02 Å) than Li + (0.76 Å), it was generally believed that the Sb anode would experience even worse capacity degradation in SIBs due to more substantial volumetric variations during cycling when compared to LIBs. However, the Sb anode in SIBs unexpectedly exhibited both better electrochemical and structural stability than in LIBs, and the mechanistic reasons that underlie this performance discrepancy remain undiscovered. Here, using substantial in situ transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and Raman techniques complemented by theoretical simulations, we explicitly reveal that compared to the lithiation/delithiation process, sodiation/desodiation process of Sb anode displays a previously unexplored two-stage alloying/dealloying mechanism with polycrystalline and amorphous phases as the intermediates featuring improved resilience to mechanical damage, contributing to superior cycling stability in SIBs. Additionally, the better mechanical properties and weaker atomic interaction of Na-Sb alloys than Li-Sb alloys favor enabling mitigated mechanical stress, accounting for enhanced structural stability as unveiled by theoretical simulations. Objective: Accurate prognostic prediction in patients with high-grade aneruysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) is essential for personalized treatment. In this study, we developed an interpretable prognostic machine learning model for high-grade aSAH patients using SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP)., Methods: A prospective registry cohort of high-grade aSAH patients was collected in one single-center hospital. The endpoint in our study is a 12-month follow-up outcome. The dataset was divided into training and validation sets in a 7:3 ratio. Machine learning algorithms, including Logistic regression model (LR), support vector machine (SVM), random forest (RF), and extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost), were employed to develop a prognostic prediction model for high-grade aSAH. The optimal model was selected for SHAP analysis., Results: Among the 421 patients, 204 (48.5%) exhibited poor prognosis. The RF model demonstrated superior performance compared to LR (AUC = 0.850, 95% CI: 0.783-0.918), SVM (AUC = 0.862, 95% CI: 0.799-0.926), and XGBoost (AUC = 0.850, 95% CI: 0.783-0.917) with an AUC of 0.867 (95% CI: 0.806-0 .929). Primary prognostic features identified through SHAP analysis included higher World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS) grade, higher modified Fisher score (mFS) and advanced age, were found to be associated with 12-month unfavorable outcome, while the treatment of coiling embolization for aSAH drove the prediction towards favorable prognosis. Additionally, the SHAP force plot visualized individual prognosis predictions., Conclusions: This study demonstrated the potential of machine learning techniques in prognostic prediction for high-grade aSAH patients. The features identified through SHAP analysis enhance model interpretability and provide guidance for clinical decision-making.

Large reserves, high capacity, and low cost are the core competitiveness of disordered carbon materials as excellent anode materials for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). And the existence and improper treatment of a large number of organic solid wastes will aggravate the burden on the environment, therefore, it is significant to transform wastes into carbon-based materials for sustainable energy utilization. Herein, a kind of hard carbon materials are reported with waste biomass-foam as the precursor, which can improve the sodium storage performance through pre-oxidation strategy. The introduction of oxygen-containing groups can promote structural cross-linking, and inhibit the melting and rearrangement of carbon structure during high-temperature carbonization that produces a disordered structure with a suitable degree of graphitization. Moreover, the micropore structure are also regulated during the high-temperature carbonization process, which is conducive to the storage of sodium ions in the low-voltage plateau region. The optimized sample as an electrode material exhibits excellent reversible specific capacity (308.0 mAh g -1 ) and initial Coulombic efficiency (ICE, 90.1%). In addition, a full cell with the waste foam-derived hard carbon anode and a Na 3 V 2 (PO 4 ) 3 cathode is constructed with high ICE and energy density. Non-aqueous solvents, in particular N,N-dimethylaniline (NMP), are widely applied for electrode fabrication since most sodium layered oxide cathode materials are readily damaged by water molecules. However, the expensive price and poisonousness of NMP unquestionably increase the cost of preparation and post-processing. Therefore, developing an intrinsically stable cathode material that can implement the water-soluble binder to fabricate an electrode is urgent. Herein, a stable nanosheet-like Mn-based cathode material is synthesized as a prototype to verify its practical applicability in sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). The as-prepared material displays excellent electrochemical performance and remarkable water stability, and it still maintains a satisfactory performance of 79.6% capacity retention after 500 cycles even after water treatment. The in situ X-ray diffraction (XRD) demonstrates that the synthesized material shows an absolute solid-solution reaction mechanism and near-zero-strain. Moreover, the electrochemical performance of the electrode fabricated with a water-soluble binder shows excellent long-cycling stability (67.9% capacity retention after 500 cycles). Understanding the causes and sources responsible for severe fine particulate matter (PM 2.5 ) pollution episodes that occur under conducive synoptic weather patterns (SWPs) is essential for regional air quality management. The Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region in eastern China has experienced recurrent severe PM 2.5 episodes during the winters from 2013 to 2017. In this study, we employed an objective classification approach, the self-organizing map, to investigate the underlying impact of predominant SWPs on PM 2.5 pollution in the YRD. We further conducted a series of source apportionment simulations using the Particulate Source Apportionment Technology (PSAT) tool integrated within the Comprehensive Air Quality Model with Extensions (CAMx) to quantify the source contributions to PM 2.5 pollution under different SWPs. Here we identified six predominant SWPs over the YRD that are robustly connected to the evolution of the Siberian High. Considering the regional average PM 2.5 anomalies, our results show that polluted SWPs favourable for the occurrence of regional PM 2.5 pollution account for 61-78 %. The most conducive SWP, associated with the highest regional exceedance (46 %) of PM 2.5 levels, is characterized by noticeable cyclonic anomalies at 850 hPa and stagnant surface weather conditions. Our source apportionment analysis emphasizes the pivotal role of local emissions and intra-regional transport within the YRD in shaping PM 2.5 pollution in representative cities. Local emissions have the most significant impact on PM 2.5 levels in Shanghai (32-48 %), while PM 2.5 pollution in Nanjing, Hangzhou, and Hefei is more influenced by intra-regional transport (33-61 %). Industrial and residential emissions are the dominant sources, contributing 32-41 % and 24-38 % to PM 2.5 , respectively. Under specific SWPs associated with a stronger influence of inter-regional transport from northern China, there is a synchronously remarkable enhancement in the contribution of residential emissions. Na 2 Fe 2 (SO 4 ) 3 (NFS), as a promising cathode for sodium-ion batteries, is still plagued by its poor intrinsic conductivity. In general, hybridization with carbon materials is an effective strategy to improve the sodium storage performance of NFS. However, the role of carbon materials in the electrochemical performance of NFS cathode materials has not been thoroughly investigated. Herein, the effect of carbon materials was revealed by employing various conductive carbon materials as carbon sources. Among these, the NFS coated with Ketjen Black (NFS@KB) shows the largest specific surface area, which is beneficial for electrolyte penetration and rapid ionic/electronic migration, leading to improved electrochemical performance. Therefore, NFS@KB shows a long cycle life (74.6 mA h g -1 after 1000 cycles), superior rate performance (61.5 mA h g -1 at a 5.0 A g -1 ), and good temperature tolerance (-10 °C to 60 °C). Besides, the practicality of the NFS@KB cathode was further demonstrated by assembling a NFS@KB//hard carbon full cell. High-performance sodium storage at low temperature is urgent with the increasingly stringent demand for energy storage systems. However, the aggravated capacity loss is induced by the sluggish interfacial kinetics, which originates from the interfacial Na + desolvation. Herein, all-fluorinated anions with ultrahigh electron donicity, trifluoroacetate (TFA - ), are introduced into the diglyme (G2)-based electrolyte for the anion-reinforced solvates in a wide temperature range. The unique solvation structure with TFA - anions and decreased G2 molecules occupying the inner sheath accelerates desolvation of Na + to exhibit decreased desolvation energy from 4.16 to 3.49 kJ mol -1 and 24.74 to 16.55 kJ mol -1 beyond and below -20 °C, respectively, compared with that in 1.0 M NaPF 6 -G2. These enable the cell of Na||Na 3 V 2 (PO 4 ) 3 to deliver 60.2% of its room-temperature capacity and high capacity retention of 99.2% after 100 cycles at -40 °C. Sodium metal batteries have attracted increasing interest recently, but suffer from severe dendrite growth caused by uneven Na plating/stripping behavior, which may result in the piercing of the membrane, with short circuiting and even cause explosions. Herein, a conductive and sodiophilic Ag coating layer is introduced to regulate Na deposition behaviors for highly reversible sodium metal batteries. Ag coated Zn foil with enhanced sodiophilicity, rapid Na + transfer kinetics and superior electronic conductivity guarantee the homogenized Na + ion and electric field distribution. This enables remarkably low overpotentials and uniform Na plating/stripping behavior with ultrahigh Coulombic efficiency of 99.9% during 500 cycles. As expected, the enhanced electrochemical performance of the anode-less battery and anode-free battery coupled with Prussian blue is achieved with the help of Ag coating.
