The Yellow River Delta possesses lots of characteristic medicinal plants due to its high salinity and high alkaline environment and Limonium sinense is an iconic plant. However, there are very few studies on L. sinense and its chemical constituents have not been investigated in recent ten years. In the present study, the chemical constituents and bioactivities of L. sinense were fully studied for the first time. UPLC-MS/MS method combined with database comparison identified 109 compounds mainly including flavonoids, alkaloids and polyphenols. In addition, the potential bioactivities of L. sinense were considerated as anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative, anti-tumor, hepatoprotective and hpyerglycemic activities based on these identified compounds and their related literature. Furthermore, four derivatives of 12-oxo-phytodienoic acid and butenolide including two new ones (1 and 2) were isolated from the whole plants of L. sinense. Their structures, including the absolute configurations, were determined by the analysis of comprehensive spectroscopic data. All isolates were evaluated for their anti-inflammatory activity. Background: Impact of radiotherapy (RT) for esophageal cancer (EC) patients on the development of secondary head and neck cancer (SHNC) remains equivocal. The objective of this study was to investigate the link between definitive RT used for EC treatment and subsequent SHNC., Methods: This study was conducted using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database to collect the data of primary EC patients. Fine-Gray competing risk regression and standardized incidence ratio (SIR) and propensity score matching (PSM) method were used to match SHNC patients with only primary head and neck cancer (HNC) patients. Overall survival (OS) rates were applied by Kaplan-Meier analysis., Results: In total, 14,158 EC patients from the SEER database were included, of which 9,239 patients (65.3%) received RT and 4,919 patients (34.7%) received no radiation therapy (NRT). After a 12-month latency period, 110 patients (1.2%) in the RT group and 36 patients (0.7%) in the NRT group experienced the development of SHNC. In individuals with primary EC, there was an increased incidence of SHNC compared to the general US population (SIR = 5.95, 95% confidence interval (CI): 5.15 - 6.84). Specifically, the SIR for SHNC was 8.04 (95% CI: 6.78 - 9.47) in the RT group and 3.51 (95% CI: 2.64 - 4.58) in the NRT group. Patients who developed SHNC after RT exhibited significantly lower OS compared to those after NRT. Following PSM, the OS of patients who developed SHNC after RT remained significantly lower than that of matched patients with only primary HNC., Conclusion: An association was discovered between RT for EC and increased long-term risk of SHNC. China's imports of livestock feed, particularly protein-rich feeds, pose challenges to global environmental sustainability. Achieving protein self-sufficiency for food and feed in China without exceeding environmental boundaries requires integrated measures and optimization of China's food system. Here we propose holistic food system innovation strategies consisting of three components-technological innovation, integrated spatial planning and demand-side options-to reduce protein import dependency and promote global environmental sustainability. We find that food system innovations can close almost 80% of China's future protein gaps while reducing 57-85% of agricultural import-embodied environmental impacts. Deploying these innovations would also reduce greenhouse gas emissions (22-27%) and people's harmful exposure to ammonia (73-81%) compared with the baseline scenario in 2050. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and carbon dioxide primarily originate from the combustion of fossil fuels and biomass. The implementation of the Chinese "double carbon strategy" is expected to impact the distribution of PAH emissions, consequently influencing the spatial distribution trend of PAHs in surface soil. Therefore, it is crucial to quantitatively evaluate the effectiveness of the Chinese "double carbon strategy" on soil PAH pollution for the purpose of "the reduction of pollution and carbon emissions". This study utilized 15,088 individual PAH concentration data from 943 soil samples collected between 2003 and 2020 in China, in conjunction with PAH emissions at a 10 km resolution, for meta-analysis. The calculated PAH emissions in this study are in line with the global PAH emission inventory (PKU-PAH-2007), with a relative standard deviation at the provincial level of less than 25 %. Subsequently, a novel method was developed using emission density and K ow of PAHs to predict PAH concentrations in surface soil based on a least-squares regression model. Compared to other environmental models, the method established in this study significantly reduced the percent sample deviation to less than 70 %. Furthermore, energy consumption data for China were simulated based on the implementation plan of the "double carbon strategy" to project PAH emissions and soil PAH levels for the years 2030 and 2060. The predicted PAH emissions in China were estimated to decrease to 41,300 t in 2030 and 10,406.5 t in 2060 from 78,815 t in 2020. Moreover, the heavily contaminated areas of soil PAHs (i.e., total PAH concentrations in soil exceeding 1000 μg kg -1 ) were projected to decrease by 45 % and 82 % in 2030 and 2060, respectively, compared to levels in 2020. Singlet oxygen ( 1 O 2 ) is a reactive species for the selective degradation of stubborn organic pollutants. Given its resistance to harsh water environment, the effective and exclusive generation of 1 O 2 is acknowledged as a key strategy to mitigate water production costs and ensure water supply safety. Herein, we synthesized MnO x intercalated MnFe layered double hydroxides (MF-MnO x ) to selectively produce 1 O 2 through the activation of PMS. The distinctive confined structure endowed MF-MnO x with a special pathway for the PMS activation. The direct oxidation of BPA on the intercalated MnO x induced the charge imbalance in the MnFe-LDH layer, resulting in the selective generation of 1 O 2 . Moreover, acceptable activity deterioration of MF-MnO x was observed in a 10 h continuous degradation test in actual water, substantiating the application potential of MF-MnO x . Although numerous studies have reported the influencing factors of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in surface soil from source, process or soil perspectives, the mechanism of PAHs heterogeneity in surface soil are still not well understood. In this study, the effects of 16 PAHs in surface soil of China sampled between 2003 and 2020 with their 17 "source-process-sink" factors at 1 km resolution (N = 660)) were explored using deep learning (eXtreme Gradient Boosting) to mine key information from complex dataset under the optimized parameters (i.e., learning rate = 0.05, maximum depth = 5, sub-sample = 0.8). It was observed that top five factors of 16 PAH had the largest cumulative contribution (i.e., from 84.8% to 98.1%) on their soil concentrations. PAH emission was the predominant driver, and its effect on soil PAH increases with increasing logK ow . Soil was the second driver, in which clay can promote the partition of PAHs with low or middle logK ow . However, sand can accumulate those congeners with high logK ow . Moreover, the deep learning plus geo-statistical models (with low deviation for testing dataset (N = 283)) were capable of predicting soil PAH concentrations using their drivers with high accuracy. The Eurasian steppe is the largest temperate grassland in the world. The grassland of the Mongolian Plateau (MP) represents an important part of the Eurasian steppe with high climatic sensitivity. Gross primary productivity (GPP) is a key indicator of the grassland's production, status and dynamic on the MP. In this study, we calibrated and evaluated the grassland-specific light use efficiency model (GRASS-LUE) against the observed GPP collected from nine eddy covariance flux sites on the MP, and compared the performance with other four GPP products (MOD17, VPM, GLASS and GOSIF). GRASS-LUE with higher R 2 (0.91) and lower root mean square error (RMSE = 0.99 gC m -2  day -1 ) showed a better performance compared to the four GPP products in terms of model accuracy and dynamic consistency, especially in typical and desert steppe. The parameters of the GRASS-LUE are more suitable for water-limited grassland could be the reason for its outstanding performance in typical and desert steppe. Mean grassland GPP derived from GRASS-LUE was higher in the east and lower in the west of the MP. Grassland GPP was on average 205 gC m -2 over the MP between 2001 and 2020 with mean annual total GPP of 322 TgC yr -1 . 30 % of the MP steppe showed a significant GPP increase. Growing season precipitation is the main factor affecting GPP of the MP steppe across regions. Anthropogenic factors (livestock density and population density) had greater effect on GPP than growing season temperature in pastoral counties in IM that take grazing as one of main industries. The diffusion model is used to calculate both the time-averaged flow of particles in stochastic media and the propagation of waves averaged over ensembles of disordered static configurations. For classical waves exciting static disordered samples, such as a layer of paint or a tissue sample, the flux transmitted through the sample may be dramatically enhanced or suppressed relative to predictions of diffusion theory when the sample is excited by a waveform corresponding to a transmission eigenchannel. Even so, it is widely assumed that the velocity of waves is irretrievably randomized in scattering media. Here we demonstrate in microwave measurements and numerical simulations that the statistics of velocity of different transmission eigenchannels are distinct and remains so on all length scales and are identical on the incident and output surfaces. The interplay between eigenchannel velocities and transmission eigenvalues determines the energy density within the medium, the diffusion coefficient, and the dynamics of propagation. The diffusion coefficient and all scattering parameters, including the scattering mean free path, oscillate with the width of the sample as the number and shape of the propagating channels in the medium change., (© 2024. Background: Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is the advanced stage of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), one of the most prevalent chronic liver diseases. The effectiveness of bariatric surgery in treating NASH and preventing or even reversing liver fibrosis has been demonstrated in numerous clinical studies, but the underlying mechanisms and crucial variables remain unknown., Methods: Using the GSE135251 dataset, we examined the gene expression levels of NASH and healthy livers. Then, the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) of patients with NASH, at baseline and one year after bariatric surgery, were identified in GSE83452. We overlapped the hub genes performed by protein-protein interaction (PPI) networks and DEGs with different expression trends in both datasets to obtain key genes. Genomic enrichment analysis (GSEA) and genomic variation analysis (GSVA) were performed to search for signaling pathways of key genes. Meanwhile, key molecules that regulate the key genes are found through the construction of the ceRNA network. NASH mice were induced by a high-fat diet (HFD) and underwent sleeve gastrectomy (SG). We then cross-linked the DEGs in clinical and animal samples using quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) and validated the key genes., Results: Seven key genes (FASN, SCD, CD68, HMGCS1, SQLE, CXCL10, IGF1) with different expression trends in GSE135251 and GSE83452 were obtained with the top 30 hub genes selected by PPI. The expression of seven key genes in mice after SG was validated by qPCR. Combined with the qPCR results from NASH mice, the four genes FASN, SCD, HMGCS1, and CXCL10 are consistent with the biological analysis. The GSEA results showed that the 'cholesterol homeostasis' pathway was enriched in the FASN, SCD, HMGCS1, and SQLE high-expression groups. The high-expression groups of CD68 and CXCL10 were extremely enriched in inflammation-related pathways. The material properties and volume proportion of the fibers as well as the cross-sectional area proportion of nucleus pulposus vary greatly in different studies. The effect of these factors on the mechanical behavior of intervertebral discs (IVDs) are uncertain. The IVDs finite element models with different parameters were created to investigate the pressure, height, rotation, stress, and strain of the IVDs under loads: pure compression, rotation after compression or axial moment after compression. The results showed that the material properties of fibers had great impact on the mechanical behavior of IVDs, especially on the rotation angle. When the fiber volume ratio was small, its changes had a significant impact on the rotation angle of the IVDs. The area proportions of nucleus pulposus had relatively little effect on the mechanical behavior of IVDs. The IVDs rotation should be observed when validating the model. By adjusting the elastic modulus or volume ratio of fibers within a reasonable range, a model that could simulate the mechanical behavior of normal IVDs could be obtained. It was reasonable to make the area proportion of nucleus pulposus within 25%-50% for the IVDs finite element model. This study provides guidance and reference for finite element modeling of the IVDs and the investigation of the IVDs degeneration mechanism.

Two new triterpenoids (1-2), along with six known analogues (3-8) were obtained from the dried whole plant of Leptopus clarkei. Compound 1 is a 3,4-seco-lupane-type triterpenoid, and compound 2 is a phenylpropanoid-conjugated pentacyclic triterpenoid possessing trans-p-coumaroyl unit attached to oleanane-type skeleton. This is the first report on chemical investigation of the L. clarkei, and the triterpenoid derivatives were found in this plant for the first time. The structures of the new compounds were unequivocally elucidated by HRESIMS and 1D/2D NMR data. Additionally, the isolated compounds were evaluated for theircytotoxicities against four cancer cell lines including HepG2, MCF-7, A549 and HeLa. Background: Ubiquitination, small ubiquitin-related modifiers, and NEDDylation are now found to function in cancer biology; however, its role in the oral cancer patients remains unclear., Methods: A set of bioinformatic tools was integrated to analyze the expression and prognostic significance of ubiquitin and ubiquitin-like (UB/UBL) genes. A UB/UBL-related risk score was developed via correlation analyses, univariate Cox regression, and multivariate Cox regression. Nomogram analysis evaluates the model's prediction performance. The drug sensitivity analysis, immune profiles of UB/UBL-classified oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) patients, and their related function pathway were investigated, and the role of UB/UBL-related genes in drug therapy was analyzed., Results: A total of six prognostic UB/UBL-related genes were obtained. PSMD3, PCGF2, and H2BC10 were significantly downregulated in OSCC tissue and associated with longer survival time. OSCC patients in the high-risk group showed a significantly lower overall survival and enriched in cancer-related pathways. The prognostic potential of genes associated with UB/UBL was discovered, and patients with high-risk scores showed an increase of protumor immune infiltrates and a high expression of immune checkpoints. Moreover, the area under the curve of the annual survival rate was 0.616, 0.671, and 0.673, respectively. Besides, patients in the high-risk group are more sensitive to docetaxel, doxorubicin, and methotrexate therapy., Conclusions: We construct a prognosis model for OSCC patients with UB/UBL-related genes and try to find a new approach to treating oral cancer patients. The high expression or mutation of SHP2 can induce cancer, so targeting SHP2 has become a new strategy for cancer treatment. In this study, we used the previously reported SHP2 allosteric inhibitor IACS-13909 as a lead drug for structural derivation and modification, and synthesized three SHP2 inhibitors. Among them, 1 H -pyrazolo[3,4- b ]pyrazine derivative 4b was a highly selective SHP2 allosteric inhibitor, with an IC 50 value of 3.2 nM, and its inhibitory activity was 17.75 times than that of the positive control IACS-13909. The cell proliferation experiment detected that compound 4b would markedly inhibit the proliferation of various cancer cells. Interestingly, compound 4b was highly sensitive to KRAS G12C -mutant non-small cell lung cancer NCI-H358 cells, with an IC 50 value of 0.58 μM and its antiproliferative activity was 4.79 times than that of IACS-13909. Furthermore, the combination therapy of compound 4b and KRAS G12C inhibitor sotorasib would play a strong synergistic effect against NCI-H358 cells. The western blot experiment detected that compound 4b markedly downregulated the phosphorylation levels of ERK and AKT in NCI-H358 cells. Molecular docking study predicted that compound 4b bound to the allosteric site of SHP2 and formed H-bond interactions with key residues Thr108, Glu110, Arg111, and Phe113. In summary, this study aims to provide new ideas for the development of SHP2 allosteric inhibitors for the treatment of KRAS G12C mutant non-small cell lung cancer.Communicated by Ramaswamy H. Global warming modulates soil respiration (RS) via microbial decomposition, which is seasonally dependent. Yet, the magnitude and direction of this modulation remain unclear, partly owing to the lack of knowledge on how microorganisms respond to seasonal changes. Here, we investigated the temporal dynamics of soil microbial communities over 12 consecutive months under experimental warming in a tallgrass prairie ecosystem. The interplay between warming and time altered (P < 0.05) the taxonomic and functional compositions of microbial communities. During the cool months (January to February and October to December), warming induced a soil microbiome with a higher genomic potential for carbon decomposition, community-level ribosomal RNA operon (rrn) copy numbers, and microbial metabolic quotients, suggesting that warming stimulated fast-growing microorganisms that enhanced carbon decomposition. Modeling analyses further showed that warming reduced the temperature sensitivity of microbial carbon use efficiency (CUE) by 28.7% when monthly average temperature was low, resulting in lower microbial CUE and higher heterotrophic respiration (Rh) potentials. Structural equation modeling showed that warming modulated both Rh and RS directly by altering soil temperature and indirectly by influencing microbial community traits, soil moisture, nitrate content, soil pH, and gross primary productivity. The modulation of Rh by warming was more pronounced in cooler months compared to warmer ones. Together, our findings reveal distinct warming-induced effects on microbial functional traits in cool months, challenging the norm of soil sampling only in the peak growing season, and advancing our mechanistic understanding of the seasonal pattern of RS and Rh sensitivity to warming., (© The Author(s) 2024. High-accuracy simulation of gross primary productivity (GPP) is crucial for the monitoring and evaluation of the ecosystem services and the adaptive management of grassland. The light use efficiency (LUE) model is one of the most widely-used methods to simulate GPP, given its simple structure and low input requirements. Current LUE models are less applicable to grasslands than other vegetation types and have lower overall estimation accuracy in arid and semi-arid regions. A grassland-specific light use efficiency model (GRASS-LUE), which optimizes three important parameters (the fraction of absorbed photosynthetically active radiation FPAR, optimum temperature T opt and water stress factor f(W)), has been developed to improve the accuracy of GPP simulation for grasslands along aridity gradients. GPP simulated by the GRASS-LUE agreed well with the eddy covariance (EC) GPP estimates for grasslands along the aridity gradient at 8-day (coefficient of determination (R 2 ) = 0.85, Bias = -0.67 gC m -2 day -1 ), monthly (R 2  = 0.88, Bias = -22.33 gC m -2 month -1 ) and annual time scales (R 2  = 0.95, Bias = -118.91 gC m -2 year -1 ). Compared with five state-of-the-art GPP products (PML, MOD17, rEC-LUE, VPM and BESS), GRASS-LUE had the best and most stable performance in reproducing EC GPP, especially for semi-arid grassland, with the highest global performance indicator (GPI) value. Sensitivity tests further revealed that: 1) modifying f(W) to be based on the Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI) substantially improved the model accuracy for arid and semi-arid grasslands and 2) using the minimum of temperature and water stress factors (i.e., min⁡(f(W),f(T))) to represent environmental stress in GRASS-LUE was better than that from the multiplication of temperature and water stress factors (i.e., f(W)×f(T))., Competing Interests: Declaration of competing interest The authors declare that they have no known competing financial interests or personal relationships that could have appeared to influence the work reported in this paper., (Copyright © 2023 Elsevier Ltd. Co-optimization of multiple management practices may facilitate climate-smart agriculture, but is challenged by complex climate-crop-soil management interconnections across space and over time. Here we develop a hybrid approach combining agricultural system modelling, machine learning and life cycle assessment to spatiotemporally co-optimize fertilizer application, irrigation and residue management to achieve yield potential of wheat and maize and minimize greenhouse gas emissions in the North China Plain. We found that the optimal fertilizer application rate and irrigation for the historical period (1995-2014) are lower than local farmers' practices as well as trial-derived recommendations. With the optimized practices, the projected annual requirement of fertilizer, irrigation water and residue inputs across the North China Plain in the period 2051-2070 is reduced by 16% (14-21%) (mean with 95% confidence interval), 19% (7-32%) and 20% (16-26%), respectively, compared with the current supposed optimal management in the historical reference period, with substantial greenhouse gas emission reductions. We demonstrate the potential of spatiotemporal co-optimization of multiple management practices and present digital mapping of management practices as a benchmark for site-specific management across the region., (© 2024. Spatiotemporal risk and future evolutionary distribution characteristics of industrial sites are crucial for regional environmental supervision. However, traditional site survey methods have long cycles, high costs, and small coverage and usually only consider the static risk of a single industrial site to a single receptor. Low-cost, large-scale, and long-term multi-source data can compensate for the shortcomings of traditional site surveys. Previous studies have rarely considered the spatiotemporal heterogeneity of industrial sites and assessed their dynamic risks at the regional scale. This study used China's Yangtze River Delta Urban Agglomeration as the study area. We assessed the risk potential of industrial sites from 2000 to 2020 using multi-source and multiperiod data. We also simulated the risk potential for 2030 and 2050 using a patch-generating land use simulation (PLUS) model under different scenarios. The results indicated that the proportion of medium- and high-risk potential grids from 2000 to 2020 ranged from 2.53 % to 5.61 % in the study area, with the vast majority of areas (94.39 %-97.47 %) having low- or no-risk potential. The PLUS model exhibited remarkable reliability from 2005 to 2020, with the overall accuracy, Kappa coefficient, and Moran's index ranging from 83 % to 89 %, 0.38 to 0.59, and 0.34 to 0.56, respectively. The future prediction results indicated that the number of high-risk potential grids (>5 %) showed an upward trend under natural development scenarios in 2030 and 2050 and a downward trend under the ten-chapter soil pollution action plan or strict control scenarios. Reactions of reactive halogen species (Cl • , Br • , and Cl 2 •- ) with trace organic contaminants (TrOCs) have received much attention in recent years, and their k values are fundamental parameters for understanding their reaction mechanisms. However, k values are usually unknown. In this study, we developed machine learning (ML)-based quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) models to predict k values. We tested five algorithms, namely, random forest, neural network, XGBoost, support vector machine (SVM), and multilinear regression, using molecular descriptors (MDs) and molecular fingerprints (MFs) as inputs. The optimal algorithms were MD-XGBoost for Cl • and Br • , and MF-SVM for Cl 2 •- , respectively, with R 2 test values of 0.876, 0.743, and 0.853. We found that electron-withdrawing/donating groups tended to interfere with the reactivity of Cl 2 •- more than Cl • and Br • . This explains why MFs are better inputs for predictive models of Cl 2 •- , whereas MDs are more suitable for Cl • and Br • . Medium chain fatty acids (MCFAs), the secondary products of traditional anaerobic fermentation, can be produced via chain elongation (CE), a process often retarded due to the difficulty during interspecies electron transfer (IET). This study employed redox mediators, neutral red (NR), methyl viologen (MV), and methylene blue (MB) as electron shuttles to expedite the electro-fermentation for caproate production by improving IET. Results showed that MV increased the MCFAs production by promoting acetate to ethanol conversion, leading to the highest MCFAs selectivity of 68.73%. While NR was indicated to improve CE by encouraging H 2 production, and the biocathode had the highest electrical activity due to the smallest internal resistance and largest capacitance increase of 96% than the control. A higher proportion of Sutterella, Prevotella, and Hydrogenophaga, linked with the H 2 mediated interspecies electron transfer (MIET) during CE process, was observed across redox mediators supplied groups compared to the control. The presence of mediators led to an elevated abundance of key enzymes for enhanced CE process and electron transfer. Remote sensing is an important tool for monitoring soil information. However, accurate spatial modeling of soil organic matter (SOM) in areas with high vegetation coverage, typically represented by agroecosystems, remains a challenge for field-scale estimation using remote sensing. To date, studies have focused on using single-period or multi-temporal vegetation information to characterize SOM. Thus, the relationship between SOM content and time-series vegetation biomass has not yet been fully explored. In addition, most studies have ignored the effects of critical soil properties and human activities (e.g., soil salinization, soil particle size fractions, history of land-use changes) on SOM. By integrating information on vegetation, soil, and human activities, we propose a novel framework for assessing SOM in cotton fields of artificial oases in northwest China, where returned straw is one of the primary sources of SOM coming from vegetation. We developed an Annual Maximum Biomass Accumulation Index (AMBAI) using time-series Landsat images from 1990 to 2019. Subsequently, we quantified the information of the planting years (PY) of cropland using spectral index threshold and incorporated proximal sensing data (soil hyperspectral and apparent conductivity data) and soil particle size fractions to establish a predictive model of SOM using partial least squares regression (PLSR), random forest (RF), and convolutional neural network (CNN). The results revealed that AMBAI had the highest correlation coefficient (r) with SOM (0.76, P < 0.01). AMBAI, soil hyperspectral data, and PY were the most relevant predictors for estimating SOM. The CNN model integrating vegetation, soil, and human activity information performed best, with coefficient of determination (R 2 ), relative analysis error (RPD), and root mean square error (RMSE) of 0.83, 2.38 and 1.38 g kg -1 , respectively. The critical prerequisite for the prevention and control of soil heavy metal (HM) pollution is the identification of factors that influence soil HM accumulation. The dominant factors have been individually identified and apportioned in existing studies. However, the accumulation of soil HMs results from a combination of multiple factors, and the influence of a single factor is less than the interaction of multiple parameters on soil HM pollution. In this study, we employed Geodetector to delve into the interaction effect of the influencing factors on the variations of soil HMs. We performed partial dependence plot to depict how these factors interact with each other to affect the HM content. We found that both individually and interactively, pH and agricultural activities significantly impact soil HM content. Except for Hg and Cu, the pairs with the most significant interaction effects all involve pH. For Pb, As and Zn, interaction with pH has the most significant driving force compared to the other factors. For Cu, Hg, and Ni, all environmental factor interactions increased their explanatory power, while for Cr, the single most significant driver decreased its driving power when interacting with other factors. Additionally, the study area exhibited a widespread prevalence of changes in HM concentration being governed by the synergistic effect of two factors. For the response of HMs to the interaction of pH and fertilizer, soil HM concentration was sensitive to pH, while fertilizer had less effect. These results provide a dependable method of investigating the interaction of environmental factors on soil HM content and put forth efficacious and potent tactical measures for soil HM pollution prevention and control based on the interaction type., (© 2023. Previous studies have found that pre-oxidation of manganese salts such as potassium permanganate and potassium manganate can remove algae in water, while existing problems such as excessive oxidation and appearance of chromaticity. In this study, our objective was to induce a Fenton-like reaction by activating sodium percarbonate (SPC) with divalent manganese (Mn(II)) to pre-oxidize algae-contaminated water. The optimal dosage of Mn(II)/SPC was determined by assessing the zeta potential of the algae and the residual Mn(II) in the solution. Moreover, we conducted a characterization of the cells post-reaction and assessed the levels of dissolved organic carbon (DOC). The disinfection by-products (DBPs) (sodium hypochlorite disinfection)of the algae-containing water subsequent to Mn(II)/SPC treatment were measured. Experiments show that Mn(II)/SPC pre-oxidation at optimal dosage acquired 88% removal of algae and less damage to the cell membrane. Moreover, the Mn(II) acted not only as a catalyst but also formed MnO 2 which adsorbed onto the cell surface and facilitated sedimentation. Furthermore, this technology exhibits the capability to effectively manage algal organic matters present in water, thereby mitigating the formation of nitrogen-containing DBPs. Medium chain fatty acids (MCFA) generation is attracting growing interest due to fossil fuel depletion. To promote the production of MCFA, especially caproate, hydrochloric acid pretreated activated carbon (AC) was introduced into chain elongation fermentation. In this study, the role of pretreated AC on caproate production was investigated using lactate and butyrate as electron donor and electron acceptor, respectively. The results showed that AC did not improve the chain elongation reaction at beginning but promoted the caproate production at later stage. The addition of 15 g/L AC facilitated reactor reaching the peak of caproate concentration (78.92 mM), caproate electron efficiency (63.13%), and butyrate utilization rate (51.88%). The adsorption experiment revealed a positive correlation between the adsorption capacity of pretreated AC and the concentration as well as the carbon chain length of carboxylic acids. Moreover, the adsorption of undissociated caproate by pretreated AC contributed to a mitigated toxicity towards microorganisms, thereby facilitating the production of MCFA. Microbial community analysis revealed an increasing enrichment of key functional chain elongation bacteria, including Eubacterium, Megasphaera, Caproiciproducens, and Pseudoramibacter, but a suppression on acrylate pathway microorganism Veillonella, as the dosage of pretreated AC increasing. Global climate models predict that the frequency and intensity of precipitation events will increase in many regions across the world. However, the biosphere-climate feedback to elevated precipitation (eP) remains elusive. Here, we report a study on one of the longest field experiments assessing the effects of eP, alone or in combination with other climate change drivers such as elevated CO 2 (eCO 2 ), warming and nitrogen deposition. Soil total carbon (C) decreased after a decade of eP treatment, while plant root production decreased after 2 years. To explain this asynchrony, we found that the relative abundances of fungal genes associated with chitin and protein degradation increased and were positively correlated with bacteriophage genes, suggesting a potential viral shunt in C degradation. In addition, eP increased the relative abundances of microbial stress tolerance genes, which are essential for coping with environmental stressors. Microbial responses to eP were phylogenetically conserved. The effects of eP on soil total C, root production, and microbes were interactively affected by eCO 2 . Collectively, we demonstrate that long-term eP induces soil C loss, owing to changes in microbial community composition, functional traits, root production, and soil moisture. Introduction: Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), which accounts for a high proportion of oral cancers, is characterized by high aggressiveness and rising incidence. Lysine acetylation is associated with cancer pathogenesis. Lysine acetylation-related genes (LARGs) are therapeutic targets and potential prognostic indicators in various tumors, including oral squamous cell carcinoma. However, systematic bioinformatics analysis of the Lysine acetylation-related genes in Oral squamous cell carcinoma is still unexplored. Methods: We analyzed the expression of 33 Lysine acetylation-related genes in oral squamous cell carcinoma and the effects of their somatic mutations on oral squamous cell carcinoma prognosis. Consistent clustering analysis identified two lysine acetylation patterns and the differences between the two patterns were further evaluated. Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression analysis was used to develop a lysine acetylation-related prognostic model using TCGA oral squamous cell carcinoma datasets, which was then validated using gene expression omnibus (GEO) dataset GSE41613. Results: Patients with lower risk scores had better prognoses, in both the overall cohort and within the subgroups These patients also had "hot" immune microenvironments and were more sensitive to immunotherapy. Mycotic aneurysms are a well-recognised complication of non-typhoidal Salmonella bacteraemia; the risk is increased in patients with atherosclerotic disease. The infrarenal abdominal aorta is the most common site of infection; lower extremity aneurysms are uncommon. 1 Here we present the case of a patient with cardiovascular disease and recurrent non-typhoidal Salmonella bacteraemia, who developed a left-sided popliteal artery mycotic aneurysm with secondary popliteal vein thrombosis. The aneurysm was diagnosed upon rupture, and managed with surgical excision and bypass graft. Existing single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) genotyping algorithms do not scale for species with thousands of sequenced strains, nor do they account for conspecific redundancy. Here we present a bioinformatics tool, Maast, which empowers population genetic meta-analysis of microbes at an unrivaled scale. Maast implements a novel algorithm to heuristically identify a minimal set of diverse conspecific genomes, then constructs a reliable SNP panel for each species, and enables rapid and accurate genotyping using a hybrid of whole-genome alignment and k-mer exact matching. Organic chloramines in water would pose both chemical and microbiological risks. It is essential to remove the precursors of organic chloramine (amino acids and decomposed peptides/proteins) to limit its formation in disinfection. In our work, nanofiltration was chosen to remove organic chloramines precursors. To solve the "trade-off" effect and low rejection of small molecules in algae organic matter, we synthesized a thin film composite (TFC) nanofiltration (NF) membrane with a crumpled polyamide (PA) layer via interfacial polymerization on polyacrylonitrile (PAN) composite support loaded with covalent organic framework (COF) nanoparticles (TpPa-SO 3 H). The obtained NF membrane (PA-TpPa-SO 3 H/PAN) increased the permeance from 10.2 to 28.2 L m -2 h -1 bar -1 and the amino acid rejection from 24% to 69% compared to the control NF membrane. The addition of TpPa-SO 3 H nanoparticles decreased the thickness of PA layers, increased the hydrophilicity of the membrane, and increased the transition energy barrier for amino acids transferring through the membrane, which was identified by scanning electron microscope, contact angle test, and density functional theory computations, respectively. Finally, pre-oxidation coupled with PA-TpPa-SO 3 H/PAN membrane nanofiltration on the limitation of organic chloramines formation was evaluated. We found that the combined application of KMnO 4 pre-oxidation and PA-TpPa-SO 3 H/PAN membranes nanofiltration in algae-containing water treatment could minimize the formation of organic chloramines in subsequent chlorination and maintain a high flux during filtration. Single-electron transfer (SET) is one of the most common reaction mechanisms for degrading organic micropollutants (OMPs) in advanced oxidation processes. We collected 300 SET reactions (CO 3 •- , SO 4 •- , Cl 2 •- , and Br 2 •- -mediated) and calculated three key parameters for understanding the SET mechanism: aqueous phase free energies of activation (ΔG ‡ ), free energies of reactions (ΔG), and orbital energy gaps of reactants (E OMPsHOMO -E RadiLUMO ). Then, we classified the OMPs according to their structure, developed and evaluated linear energy relationships of the second-order rate constants (k) with ΔG ‡ , ΔG, or E OMPsHOMO -E RadiLUMO in each class. Considering that a single descriptor cannot capture all the chemical diversity, we combined ΔG ‡ , ΔG, and E OMPsHOMO -E RadiLUMO as inputs to develop multiple linear regression (MLR) models. Chemical classification is critical to the linear model described above. However, OMPs usually have multiple functional groups, making the classification challenging and uncertain. Therefore, we tried machine learning algorithms to predict k values without chemical classification. We found that decision trees (R 2  = 0.88-0.95) and random forest (R 2  = 0.90-0.94) algorithms show better performance on the prediction of the k values, whereas boosted tree algorithm cannot make an accurate prediction (R 2  = 0.19-0.36). The effects of sulfadiazine (SDZ) on responses of biofilm in a moving bed biofilm reactor were explored with emphasis on the changes in extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) and functional genes. It was found that 3 to 10 mg/L SDZ reduced the protein (PN) and polysaccharide (PS) contents of EPS by 28.7%-55.1% and 33.3%-61.4%, respectively. The EPS maintained high ratio of PN to PS (10.3-15.1), and the major functional groups within EPS remained unaffected to SDZ. Bioinformatics analysis showed that SDZ significantly altered the community activity such as increased expression of s&#95;Alcaligenes faecali. Totally, the biofilm held high SDZ removal rates, which were ascribed to the self-protection by secreted EPS, and genes levels upregulation of antibiotic resistance and transporter protein. The changing behavior of organic matter in a full-scale water treatment process was characterized based on the three-dimensional excitation-emission matrix (3D-EEM) and Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FTICR-MS). Polyaluminum chloride (PAC) as a coagulant can help to effectively remove soluble microbial by-products-like and aromatic protein-like substances during coagulation and sedimentation, corresponding to tannin and coagulated aromatic regions. The leakage of soluble microbial products during sand filtration resulted in an increase in the intensity of biomass-like regions. Nitrogen-containing compounds have higher weighted average value of double bond equivalents (DBE w ) and the modified aromaticity index (AI mod-w ) than nitrogen-free compounds. Water treatment can preferentially remove unsaturated nitrogen-containing compounds with more O atoms and higher-oxidation-state carbon. The dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and UV 254 were not correlated well with changes in nitrogen-containing compounds due to the preferential removal of nitrogen-containing compounds. The prediction of soil properties at different depths is an important research topic for promoting the conservation of black soils and the development of precision agriculture. Mid-infrared spectroscopy (MIR, 2500-25000 nm) has shown great potential in predicting soil properties. This study aimed to explore the ability of MIR to predict soil organic matter (OM) and total nitrogen (TN) at five different depths with the calibration from the whole depth (0-100 cm) or the shallow layers (0-40 cm) and compare its performance with visible and near-infrared spectroscopy (vis-NIR, 350-2500 nm). A total of 90 soil samples containing 450 subsamples (0-10 cm, 10-20 cm, 20-40 cm, 40-70 cm, and 70-100 cm depths) and their corresponding MIR and vis-NIR spectra were collected from a field of black soil in Northeast China. Multivariate adaptive regression splines (MARS) were used to build prediction models. The results showed that prediction models based on MIR (OM: RMSE p = 1.07-3.82 g/kg, RPD = 1.10-5.80; TN: RMSE p = 0.11-0.15 g/kg, RPD = 1.70-4.39) outperformed those based on vis-NIR (OM: RMSE p = 1.75-8.95 g/kg, RPD = 0.50-3.61; TN: RMSE p = 0.12-0.27 g/kg; RPD = 1.00-3.11) because of the higher number of characteristic bands. Prediction models based on the whole depth calibration (OM: RMSE p = 1.09-2.97 g/kg, RPD = 2.13-5.80; TN: RMSE p = 0.08-0.19 g/kg, RPD = 1.86-4.39) outperformed those based on the shallow layers (OM: RMSE p = 1.07-8.95 g/kg, RPD = 0.50-3.93; TN: RMSE p = 0.11-0.27 g/kg, RPD = 1.00-2.24) because the soil sample data of the whole depth had a larger and more representative sample size and a wider distribution. However, prediction models based on the whole depth calibration might provide lower accuracy in some shallow layers. Accordingly, it is suggested that the methods pertaining to soil property prediction based on the spectral library should be considered in future studies for an optimal approach to predicting soil properties at specific depths. This study verified the superiority of MIR for soil property prediction at specific depths and confirmed the advantage of modeling with the whole depth calibration, pointing out a possible optimal approach and providing a reference for predicting soil properties at specific depths.

Potentially toxic elements in soils (SPTEs) from industrial and mining sites (IMSs) often cause public health issues. However, previous studies have either focused on SPTEs in agricultural or urban areas, or in a single or few IMSs. A systematic assessment of the pollution and risk levels of SPTEs from IMS at the national scale is lacking. Here, we obtained SPTE (As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Hg, Ni, Pb, and Zn) concentrations from IMSs across China based on 188 peer-reviewed articles published between 2004 and 2022 and quantified their pollution and risk levels using the pollution index and risk assessment model, respectively. The results indicated that the average concentrations of the eight SPTEs were 4.42-270.50 times the corresponding background values, and 19.58% of As, 14.39% of Zn, 12.79% of Pb, and 8.03% of Cd exceeded the corresponding soil risk screening values in these IMSs. In addition, 27.13% of the examined IMS had one or more SPTE pollution, mainly distributed in the southwest and south central China. On the examined IMSs, 81.91% had moderate or severe ecological risks, which were mainly caused by Cd, Hg, As, and Pb; 23.40% showed non-carcinogenic risk and 11.70% demonstrated carcinogenic risk. The primary exposure pathways of the former were ingestion and inhalation, while that for the latter was ingestion. A Monte Carlo simulation also confirmed the health risk assessment results. As, Cd, Hg, and Pb were identified as priority control SPTEs, and Hunan, Guangxi, Guangdong, Yunnan, and Guizhou were selected as the key control provinces. Self-cleaning, antimicrobial ultrafiltration membranes are urgently needed to alleviate the low flux problems caused by membrane fouling in water treatment processes. In this study, in situ generated nano-TiO 2 MXene lamellar materials were synthesized and then 2D membranes were fabricated using vacuum filtration. The presence of nano TiO 2 particles as an interlayer support layer widened the interlayer channels, and also improved the membrane permeability. The TiO 2 /MXene composite on the surface also showed an excellent photocatalytic property, resulting in enhanced self-cleaning properties and improved long-term membrane operational stability. The best overall performance of the TiO 2 /MXene membrane at 0.24 mg cm -2 loading was optimal, with 87.9% retention and 211.5 L m -2 h -1 bar -1 flux at a filtration of 1.0 g L -1 bovine serum albumin solution. Noticeably, the TiO 2 /MXene membranes showed a very high flux recovery under UV irradiation with a flux recovery ratio (FRR) of 80% as compared to the non-photocatalytic MXene membranes. Moreover, the TiO 2 /MXene membranes demonstrated over 95% resistance against E. coli . A large number of extracts of medicinal plants or natural products shows beneficial to combat obesity. In the present work, a new flavonoid named (2 S ,1″ R ,2″ R )-4'-hydroxy-7-methoxy-6-(1,2,3-trihydroxy-3-methyl-butyl)-flavanone ( 1 ), along with seven known compounds ( 2-8 ) were isolated from the seeds of Cullen corylifolium. Their structures, including the absolute configurations, were determined by the analysis of comprehensive spectroscopic data and computational calculation methods. All isolates were evaluated for their diacylglycerol acyltransferase (DGAT) inhibitory activity. Compounds 1-4 exhibited different level of DGAT1 inhibitory activity with IC 50 values ranging from 28.2 ± 1.1 to 127.3 ± 1.9 μM. In addition, 45 flavonoids which be evaluated for DGAT inhibitory activity were summarised and potential structure-activity relationships were discussed.

Understanding terrestrial ecosystem dynamics requires a comprehensive examination of vegetation changes. Remote sensing technology has been established as an effective approach to reconstructing vegetation change history, investigating change properties, and evaluating the ecological effects. However, current remote sensing techniques are primarily focused on break detection but ignore long-term trend analysis. In this study, we proposed a novel framework based on a change detection algorithm and a trend analysis method that could integrate both short-term disturbance detection and long-term trends to comprehensively assess vegetation change. With this framework, we characterized the vegetation changes in Zhejiang Province from 1990 to 2020 using Landsat and landcover data. Benefiting from combining break detection and long-term trend analysis, the framework showcased its capability of capturing a variety of dynamics and trends of vegetation. The results show that the vegetation was browning in the plains while greening in the mountains, and the overall vegetation was gradually greening during the study period. By comparison, detected vegetation disturbances covered 57.71% of the province's land areas (accounting for 66.92% of the vegetated region) which were mainly distributed around the built-up areas, and most disturbances (94%) occurred in forest and cropland. There were two peak timings in the frequency of vegetation disturbances: around 2003 and around 2014, and the proportions of more than twice disturbances in a single location were low. The results illustrate that this framework is promising for the characterization of regional vegetation growth, including long-term trends and short-term features. Study Design: Retrospective study., Objectives: To analyze the change in acetabular anteversion (AA) after lumbar pedicle subtraction osteotomy (PSO) in ankylosing spondylitis (AS) patients with thoracolumbar kyphosis who have already undergone total hip arthroplasty (THA)., Methods: AS patients with thoracolumbar kyphosis following lumbar PSO from January 2005 to January 2020 were retrospectively reviewed. Only the patients performed with THA prior to the PSO were included. AA was measured on the full-length standing posterior-anterior radiographs using the ellipse method., Results: Twenty patients (34 hips) with a mean age of 36.8 years (range, 22 to 63 years) were included. After lumbar PSO, AA was reduced from 18.59° to 5.85° ( P < 0.001). Postoperative change in AA was correlated with the spinal deformity correction. Additionally, the change in AA postoperatively was correlated with pelvic incidence (PI) (R = 0.346, P = 0.045). Although the postoperative change in sagittal vertical axis (SVA) was larger in the patients after L2 or L3 PSO (153.97 mm vs 70.03 mm, P = 0.006), no difference was found in the postoperative change in AA (12.83° vs 10.96°, P = 0.540) compared with the patients following L1 PSO., Conclusions: AA was significantly decreased following lumbar PSO and the postoperative change in AA was correlated with the magnitude of spinal deformity correction. Notably, the effect of osteotomy level on the postoperative change in AA was limited in the AS patients underwent 1-level PSO.

Genotyping single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in microbiomes enables strain-level quantification. In this protocol, we describe a computational pipeline that performs fast and accurate SNP genotyping using metagenomic data. We first demonstrate how to use Maast to catalog SNPs from microbial genomes. Then we use GT-Pro to extract unique SNP-covering k-mers, optimize a data structure for storing these k-mers, and finally perform metagenotyping. For proof of concept, the protocol leverages public whole-genome sequences to metagenotype a synthetic community. Cuproptosis is a newly discovered programmed cell death process, and several cuproptosis-related genes have been reported to regulate cancer cell proliferation and progression. The association between cuproptosis and tumor microenvironment in gastric cancer (GC) remains unclear. This study aimed to explore multiomics characteristics of cuproptosis-related genes regulating tumor microenvironment and provide strategies for prognosis and prediction of immunotherapy response in GC patients. We collected 1401 GC patients from the TCGA and 5 GEO data sets and identified three different cuproptosis-mediated patterns, each of which shared a distinct tumor microenvironment and different overall survival. The GC patients with high cuproptosis levels were enriched in CD8+ T cells and had a better prognosis. Whereas, the low cuproptosis level patients were associated with inhibitory immune cell infiltration and had the worst prognosis. In addition, we constructed a 3-gene (AHCYL2, ANKRD6 and FDGFRB) cuproptosis-related prognosis signature (CuPS) via Lasso-Cox and multivariate Cox regression analysis. The GC patients in the low-CuPS subgroup had higher TMB levels, MSI-H fractions, and PD-L1 expression, which suggests a better immunotherapy response. Detecting genetic variants in metagenomic data is a priority for understanding the evolution, ecology, and functional characteristics of microbial communities. Many tools that perform this metagenotyping rely on aligning reads of unknown origin to a database of sequences from many species before calling variants. In this synthesis, we investigate how databases of increasingly diverse and closely related species have pushed the limits of current alignment algorithms, thereby degrading the performance of metagenotyping tools. We identify multi-mapping reads as a prevalent source of errors and illustrate a trade-off between retaining correct alignments versus limiting incorrect alignments, many of which map reads to the wrong species. Then we evaluate several actionable mitigation strategies and review emerging methods showing promise to further improve metagenotyping in response to the rapid growth in genome collections. Organic chloramines formed in chlorination of algae-containing water are typical precursors of nitrogenous disinfection byproducts (N-DPBs). The objective to simultaneously enhance the removal efficiency of organic chloramines and control DBP formation remains a challenge. In this study, we report a two-step chlorination strategy for transferring organic chloramines to monochloramine based on the decomposition mechanisms of mono- and di-organic chloramines, which could limit organic chloramines formation and inhibit N-DBPs formation. We demonstrated that two-step chlorination could decrease the organic chloramines formation by nearly 50% than conventional one-step chlorination. Furthermore, two-step chlorination not only blocked the pathway that organic chloramines decomposed to nitriles, but also led to the conversion of organic chloramines to monochloramine. During two-step chlorination of algal organic matter, the organic chloramine transfer proportion decreased by 6.5% and the monochloramine transfer proportion increased by 17.0%. The N-DBP formation, especially haloacetonitriles (HANs), decreased significantly as organic nitrogen became inorganic nitrogen (monochloramine) in two-step chlorination. Soil biogeochemical processes may present depth-dependent responses to climate change, due to vertical environmental gradients (e.g., thermal and moisture regimes, and the quantity and quality of soil organic matter) along soil profile. However, it is a grand challenge to distinguish such depth dependence under field conditions. Here we present an innovative, cost-effective and simple approach of field incubation of intact soil cores to explore such depth dependence. The approach adopts field incubation of two sets of intact soil cores: one incubated right-side up (i.e., non-inverted), and another upside down (i.e., inverted). This inversion keeps soil intact but changes the depth of the soil layer of same depth origin. Combining reciprocal translocation experiments to generate natural climate shift, we applied this incubation approach along a 2200 m elevational mountainous transect in southeast Tibetan Plateau. We measured soil respiration (Rs) from non-inverted and inverted cores of 1 m deep, respectively, which were exchanged among and incubated at different elevations. The results indicated that Rs responds significantly (p < .05) to translocation-induced climate shifts, but this response is depth-independent. As the incubation proceeds, Rs from both non-inverted and inverted cores become more sensitive to climate shifts, indicating higher vulnerability of persistent soil organic matter (SOM) to climate change than labile components, if labile substrates are assumed to be depleted with the proceeding of incubation. These results show in situ evidence that whole-profile SOM mineralization is sensitive to climate change regardless of the depth location. The present study identifies investment in Africa's cultural and creative industries (CCIs) as one of the strategic moves in the right direction for achieving sustainable development across the African continent. Cultural and creative industries (CCIs) offer an alternative approach to development through their wealth creation potential, socioeconomic development, employment opportunities, and promotion of cultural diversity. Nevertheless, CCIs are yet to feature categorically as a development strategy, owing to their many challenges, as indicated by the study. The study submits that partnerships under the Belt and Road Initiatives (BRI) could offer an alternative source of mobilizing support for CCIs, as the BRI is a development framework with robust financing, infrastructure, and human resources development. Background: Adenoid cystic carcinoma of head and neck (ACCHN) is an uncommon head and neck cancers, whose predilection age is 40 to 60. Some studies have revealed that early-onset cancers, such as colorectal cancers and esophageal adenocarcinoma, might present some unique clinicopathological features and have different prognosis with late-onset ones. However, little is known about the early-onset ACCHN. This study aimed to develop a prognostic nomogram for overall survival (OS) of patients younger than 40 with ACCHN., Methods: Cases with ACCHN from 1975 to 2016 were retrieved from SEER-18 program. Demographic, clinical, and survival outcomes data of patients were identified for further analysis. The caret package was used to randomly divide early-onset patients into a training cohort and a validation cohort. A prognostic nomogram was constructed based on the univariate and multivariate Cox analysis. The discriminative ability and calibration power of the nomogram was evaluated by the concordance index (C-index), calibration curve, and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve., Results: A total of 5858 cases with ACCHN were selectively retrieved from SEER program in this study. The number of patients younger than 40, which was defined as early-onset ACCHN in this study, was 825. Based on the outcomes of multivariate analysis, tumor size, chemotherapy, surgery, and stage were selected for the construction of nomogram to predict 10-year OS. The C-index was 0.792 (95%CI 0.760-0.823) and 0.776 (95%CI 0.720-0.832) in the training and validation set, respectively. The area under the ROC curve values were 0.875 (95%CI 0.810-0.940) and 0.833(95%CI 0.754-0.912). The calibration plot indicated that this nomogram had proper calibration in both the training and validation cohorts., Conclusion: A novel prognostic nomogram for early-onset ACCHN was constructed and validated in this study. This nomogram could be applied for assisting clinicians to more accurately assess the prognosis of young patients, which might facilitate clinical decision-making and subsequent follow-up.

China implemented a stringent Air Clean Plan (ACP) since 2013 to address environmental and health risks caused by ambient fine particulate matter (PM 2.5 ). However, the policy effectiveness of ACP and co-benefits of carbon mitigation measures to environment and health are still largely unknown. Using satellite-based PM 2.5 products produced in our previous study, concentration-response functions, and the logarithmic mean Divisia index (LMDI) method, we analyzed the spatiotemporal dynamics of premature deaths attributable to PM 2.5 exposure, and quantitatively estimated the policy benefits of ACP and carbon mitigation measures. We found the annual PM 2.5 concentrations in China decreased by 33.65 % (13.41 μg m -3 ) from 2014 to 2020, accompanied by a decrease in PM 2.5 -attributable premature deaths of 0.23 million (95 % confidence interval (CI): 0.22-0.27), indicating the huge benefits of China ACP for human health and environment. However, there were still 1.12 million (95 % CI: 0.79-1.56) premature deaths caused by the exposure of PM 2.5 in mainland China in 2020. Among all ACP measures, clean production (contributed 55.98 % and 51.14 % to decrease in PM 2.5 and premature deaths attributable to PM 2.5 ) and energy consumption control (contributed 32.58 % and 29.54 % to decrease in PM 2.5 and premature deaths attributable to PM 2.5 ) made the largest contribution during the past seven years. Nevertheless, the environmental and health benefits of ACP are not fully synergistic in different regions, and the effectiveness of ACP measures reduced from 2018 to 2020. The co-effects of CO 2 and PM 2.5 has become one of the major drivers for PM 2.5 and premature deaths reduction since 2018, confirming the clear environment and health co-benefits of carbon mitigation measures. Background: Increasing evidence illustrated that m6A regulator-mediated modification plays a crucial role in regulating tumor immune and angiogenesis microenvironment. And the combination of immune checkpoint inhibitor and anti-angiogenic therapy has been approved as new first-line therapy for advanced HCC. This study constructed a novel prognosis signature base on m6A-mediated modification and explored the related mechanism in predicting immune and anti-angiogenic responses. Methods: Gene expression profiles and clinical information were collected from TCGA and GEO. The ssGSEA, MCPCOUNT, and TIMER 2.0 algorithm was used to Estimation of immune cell infiltration. The IC 50 of anti-angiogenic drugs in GDSC was calculated by the "pRRophetic" package. IMvigor210 cohort and Liu et al. cohort were used to validate the capability of immunotherapy response. Hepatocellular carcinoma single immune cells sequencing datasets GSE140228 were collected to present the expression landscapes of 5 hub genes in different sites and immune cell subpopulations of HCC patients. Results: Three m6A clusters with distinct immune and angiogenesis microenvironments were identified by consistent cluster analysis based on the expression of m6A regulators. We further constructed a 5-gene prognosis signature (termed as m6Asig-Score) which could predict both immune and anti-angiogenic responses. We illustrated that high m6Asig-Score is associated with poor prognosis, advanced TNM stage, and high TP53 mutation frequency. Besides, the m6Asig-Score was negatively associated with immune checkpoint inhibitors and anti-angiogenic drug response. We further found that two of the five m6Asig-Score inner genes, B2M and SMOX, were associated with immune cell infiltration, immune response, and the sensitivity to sorafenib, which were validated in two independent immunotherapy cohorts and the Genomics of Drug Sensitivity in Cancer (GDSC) database.
