Irrigation restrictions due to drought periods related to climate change, would affect different crops, especially to non-food crops. In this regard the effect of irrigation reduction should be studied in energy crops in order to obtain a sustainable bioenergy cropping system. Arundo donax, has been considered a crop with high water requirements, it has nevertheless been proven to be drought tolerant. However, there is a lack of knowledge on the effect of reduced irrigation combined with the use of different fertilizers. This work studied the combined effect of value-added products (VAPs) from wastewater (treated sewage sludge) or traditional inorganic fertilizers, and irrigation reduction in Arundo donax crop in a 2-year pot experiment. Plant biometric characteristics, chemical properties and biomass yield were studied as well as the effect of treatment on soil properties. Results showed that under reduced irrigation conditions, biomass production was reduced, especially during the second year. Organic treatments from sewage sludge minimize the effect of irrigation reduction. In these treatments, biomass yield for reduced irrigation was similar to that of the control treatment with irrigation at field capacity. A multi-approach characterization of three earth hummock fields has been conducted to understand the morphometrical characteristics and distribution pattern of these periglacial features in the Zackenberg Valley, NE Greenland. Earth hummocks develop in poorly-drained areas affected by intense cryogenic conditions. An accurate analysis of the morphometrical properties of hundreds of earth hummocks distributed between different Early Holocene moraine systems of the eastern slope of the Zackenberg Valley reveals an important control of microtopography on their distribution. Sedimentological analysis of selected earth hummocks shows evidence of alternating organic-rich layers and mineral units. Radiocarbon dates of the basal organic layers in contact with the permafrost table yielded ages 615 ± 25 and 1755 ± 60 cal yr BP, with lower sedimentation rates over the last centuries when soil formation prevailed. Andalusia is a region in the south of Spain with 8,4 million inhabitants of which 1,3 million are over 65 years old. Andalusia has been recognized as Reference Site by the European Commission within the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Aging. The Regional Ministry of Health of Andalusia has put in place strategies to promote healthy and active aging. One of these strategies is enbuenaedad , a digital platform which main aim is to foster active and healthy aging. The target audience is people over 55 years old, caregivers of older adults, as well as health and other key professionals who work with this population. Content sections are inspired in the three pillars of the World Health Organization (WHO) policy framework for active and healthy aging: health, participation, and security, but introducing an additional one which is lifelong learning. One of the strengths of this platform is the creation process. Using a co-thinking design, all target groups get voice under the umbrella of empathy and are empowered by providing support, training, knowledge, and best practices. For its development, dissemination, maintenance, and improvement, the project advocates the unavoidable participation of key stakeholders representing all sectors involved: The Senior Council of Andalusia; Primary Health Care professionals; local authorities; Guadalinfo agents; Permanent Adult Education; and Active Participation Centers. Quantitative and qualitative data obtained within the process support this project. Since its launching, 10,779 users have registered to the platform with more than 157,000 visits. Focusing on WHO four pillars on active and healthy aging Enbuenaedad is based on, preliminary results show effectiveness regarding participation and social interaction. Furthermore, achieving high participation coverage is a necessary but not sufficient input to the provision of adequate approach to older people. More comprehensive evaluation of the four pillars must be taken to ensure a holistic approach. A challenge is a cooperation between three traditionally independent sectors, cooperative work between health, social services, and education is crucial for the future sustainability of this intervention.

Seventy four Reference Sites of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP on AHA) have been recognised by the European Commission in 2016 for their commitment to excellence in investing and scaling up innovative solutions for active and healthy ageing. The Reference Site Collaborative Network (RSCN) brings together the EIP on AHA Reference Sites awarded by the European Commission, and Candidate Reference Sites into a single forum. The overarching goals are to promote cooperation, share and transfer good practice and solutions in the development and scaling up of health and care strategies, policies and service delivery models, while at the same time supporting the action groups in their work. The RSCN aspires to be recognized by the EU Commission as the principal forum and authority representing all EIP on AHA Reference Sites. The RSCN will contribute to achieve the goals of the EIP on AHA by improving health and care outcomes for citizens across Europe, and the development of sustainable economic growth and the creation of jobs.

The Pamir Mountains include peaks exceeding 7000 m, such as Lenin Peak (7134 m) in the northern Zaalai Range. Here, we examine the distribution of soils and geomorphological processes and landforms in its northern slope, from the highest glaciated environments until Alai valley floor. We present the first geomorphological map of the study area as well as an accurate description the main geomorphological units in order to reconstruct landscape dynamics in the area from Quaternary cold stages until present-day. Five main units are distributed: (1) valley floor (2900-3040 m), an area that must have been ice-free during Quaternary glaciations and is currently being reshaped by glaciofluvial processes, with a large alluvial fan reworked by aeolian activity; (2) hummocky terrain (3040-3500 m) including two moraine systems left by a piedmont glacier during the Last Glaciation as well as hilly deposits originated by a catastrophic rockfall event; (3) U-shaped glacial valley (3500-3800 m), including some moraine ridges as well as a sedimentary cover composed of glacial till that is being eroded by fluvial and mass-wasting processes; (4) high mountain valleys (up to 4600-4800 m) adjacent to the main valley floor with small cirque and alpine glaciers and widespread periglacial processes in ice-free environments; (5) glaciers flowing from the Lenin Peak summit until the foot of the mountain, where they form a debris-covered (surge-type) glacier. The existence of abundant glacial, periglacial and rockfall deposits (moraines, till, erratic boulders) allows inferring five different environmental stages since the Last Glaciation. The latest glacial advances took place during the 20th century and the Little Ice Age and deposited two moraine systems near the glacial front. The occurrence of active rock glaciers and protalus lobes indicates that the limit of permafrost conditions is now located at 3400-3500 m, with seasonal frozen ground in lower areas., (Copyright © 2018 Elsevier B.V. In Andalusia, Spain, West Nile virus (WNV) surveillance takes place from April to November, during the active vector period. Within this area seroconversion to this virus was evidenced in wild birds in 2004, affecting horses and two humans for the first time in 2010. Since 2010, the virus has been isolated every year in horses, and national and regional surveillance plans have been updated with the epidemiological changes found. WNV is spreading rapidly throughout southern Europe and has caused outbreaks in humans. Here we describe the second WNV outbreak in humans in Andalusia, with three confirmed cases, which occurred between August and September 2016, and the measures carried out to control it. Surveillance during the transmission season is essential to monitor and ensure prompt identification of any outbreaks.

Many ice-free environments in Maritime Antarctica are undergoing rapid and substantial environmental changes in response to recent climate trends. This is the case of Elephant Point (Livingston Island, South Shetland Islands, SSI), where the glacier retreat recorded during the last six decades exposed 17% of this small peninsula, namely a moraine extending from the western to the eastern coastlines and a relatively flat proglacial surface. In the southern margin of the peninsula, a sequence of Holocene raised beaches and several bedrock plateaus are also distributed. A main issue in this environment is the role of glacier retreat and permafrost controlling the recently formed soils. To this purpose, a total of 10 sites were sampled along a transect crossing raised beaches and moraine materials following the direction of glacier retreat. At the selected sites surface samples were collected until 12cm depth and sectioned at 3cm depth intervals to analyse main properties, grain size, pH, electrical conductivity and carbonates. Besides, elemental composition and fallout (FRNs) and environmental radionuclides (ERNs) were analysed. To assess if profile characteristics within the active layer are affected by glacier retreat variations of organic carbon and carbon fractions and 137 Cs contents were examined. The presence of organic carbon (range: 0.13-3.19%), and 137 Cs (range: bdl-10.1Bqkg -1 ) was only found at the raised beaches. The surface samples had abundant coarse fractions in rich sandy matrix with increasing acidic pH towards the coast. Significant differences were found in the elemental composition and the radionuclides between the moraine and raised beaches. Soil forming processes are related to the time of exposure of the landforms after glacier retreat. Objective: To describe the tool developed in Andalusia (Spain) to conduct an analysis and prospective assessment of health impacts from urban planning projects as well as the process followed to design it., Method: On the one hand, direct and indirect relationships between urban setting and health were identified in light of the best scientific evidence available; and, on the other hand, methods and tools in impact assessment were reviewed. After the design of the tool, it was tested via both internal and external validation processes (meetings, workshops and interviews with key informants)., Results: The tool consists of seven phases, structured in two stages. A first descriptive stage shows how to obtain information about goals, objectives and general points pertaining the project and also to characterise the potentially affected population. The second one indicates, in several phases, how to identify and sort out potential impacts from the project using different supporting tools., Conclusions: Both in the testing phase and through its implementation since the entry into force of Andalusian Decree 169/2014 (16 June 2015) and forced all urban planning projects to be subjected to an Health Impact Assessment, this methodology has proved responsive, identifying major potential health impacts from the measures included in those projects. This article focuses on the spatial distribution of vegetation formations in Elephant Point, an ice-free area of 1.16km 2 located in Livingston Island (South Shetland Islands, Antarctica). Fieldwork carried out in January 2014 consisted of floristic surveys and designation of a vegetation map. We have examined these data in a GIS environment together with topographical and geomorphological features existing in the peninsula in order to infer the factors controlling vegetation distribution. This has allowed quantifying the total area covered by the four different vegetation formations distributed across the peninsula, proliferating mainly on bedrock plateaus and Holocene raised beaches. Grass formation is essentially composed of Deschampsia antarctica, distributed almost exclusively on raised beaches, and covering 4.1% of the ice-free surface. The remaining three formations are fundamentally composed of cryptogam species. The first of which is fruticose lichen and moss formation, present on high bedrock plateaus and principally formed by lichens such as Usnea aurantiaco-atra. The next is the crustose lichen formation, spreading on bedrock plateaus near the coast populated by bird colonies. In this case, ornitocoprophilous lichens such as Caloplaca regalis, Xanthoria elegans and Haematomma erythromma are predominant. Together, both formations have colonised 5.1% of the peninsula. The last variety, moss carpet and moss cushion formation, occupies 1.4% of the deglaciated surface, spreading primarily in flooded areas, stabilised talus slopes, and bedrock plateaus as well. Therefore, the total surface colonised by vegetation is 12.2ha, which comprises 10.5% of the peninsula. Due to the retreat of the Rotch Dome glacier, 20.1ha remain ice-free since 1956 (17.3% of the deglaciated area). Ever since, even though the Antarctic Peninsula has registered one of the most significant temperature rises on Earth, vegetation has only colonised 0.04ha of this new space, which merely represents 0.3% of the vegetated area in Elephant Point., (Copyright © 2017 Elsevier B.V. The maximum glacial extent in the Central Pyrenees during the Last Glaciation is known to have occurred before the global Last Glacial Maximum, but the succession of cold events afterwards and their impact on the landscape are still relatively unknown. This study focuses on the environmental evolution in the upper valley of the Garonne River since the Last Glaciation. Geomorphological mapping allows analysis of the spatial distribution of inherited and current processes and landforms in the study area. The distribution of glacial records (moraines, till, erratic boulders, glacial thresholds) suggests the existence of four glacial stages, from the maximum expansion to the end of the glaciation. GIS modeling allows quantification of the Equilibrium Line Altitude, extent, thickness and volume of ice in each glacial stage. During the first stage, the Garonne glacier reached 460m in the Loures-Barousse-Barbazan basin, where it formed a piedmont glacier 88km from the head and extended over 960km 2 . At a second stage of glacier stabilization during the deglaciation process, the valley glaciers were 12-23km from the head until elevations of 1000-1850m, covering an area of 157km 2 . Glaciers during stage three remained isolated in the upper parts of the valley, at heights of 2050-2200m and 2.6-4.5km from the head, with a glacial surface of 16km 2 . In stage four, cirque glaciers were formed between 2260m and 2590m, with a length of 0.4-2km and a glacial area of 5.7km 2 . Also, the wide range of periglacial, slope, nival and alluvial landforms existing in the formerly glaciated environments allows reconstruction of the post-glacial environmental dynamics in the upper Garonne basin. Sierra Nevada constitutes the southernmost and highest massif in the Iberian Peninsula, with elevations exceeding 3000m. Two large glacial advances were recorded during the Last Glaciation and several minor advances occurred until the Early Holocene. Since then, periglacial activity has prevailed above 2500m. Here, we present a new and more accurate geomorphological map of the highlands of Sierra Nevada, integrating in a GIS environment i) high resolution satellite imagery, ii) topographic data, and iii) field observations. This approach has allowed a better characterization of the spatial extent of cold-climate morphogenic processes and associated landforms formed during the Last Glaciation and subsequent deglaciation. Despite its extension and high altitude, the steep relief of Sierra Nevada and its southern location conditioned a significantly lower glaciated surface (104.6km 2 ) with respect to other Iberian massifs. We have also inferred the paleoclimatic conditions of the study area through the calculation of Equilibrium Line Altitudes (ELAs). The distribution of the lowest moraines suggests an ELA for the maximum glacial extent at 2525m in the northern slope and 2650m in the southern side, increasing towards the east. Local ELA differences are related to: (i) the influence of the warmer Mediterranean Sea in contrast to the cooler Atlantic Ocean, (ii) the climate with more continental characteristics on the northern slope, and (iii) the microscale control of the local topography. Mean annual air temperatures in the ice-free summit plateaus were between -4/-6°C during the maximum local glacial extent, determining permafrost conditions with intense periglacial dynamics. Rock glaciers and protalus lobes developed until 2500m, the lowest boundary for permafrost regime. The distribution of other glacial and periglacial landforms within the limits of the maximum ice extent provides evidence to better understand the extent of subsequent glacial stages and post-glacial landscape evolution in Sierra Nevada., (Copyright © 2017 Elsevier B.V. The Antarctic Peninsula (AP) is often described as a region with one of the largest warming trends on Earth since the 1950s, based on the temperature trend of 0.54°C/decade during 1951-2011 recorded at Faraday/Vernadsky station. Accordingly, most works describing the evolution of the natural systems in the AP region cite this extreme trend as the underlying cause of their observed changes. However, a recent analysis (Turner et al., 2016) has shown that the regionally stacked temperature record for the last three decades has shifted from a warming trend of 0.32°C/decade during 1979-1997 to a cooling trend of -0.47°C/decade during 1999-2014. While that study focuses on the period 1979-2014, averaging the data over the entire AP region, we here update and re-assess the spatially-distributed temperature trends and inter-decadal variability from 1950 to 2015, using data from ten stations distributed across the AP region. We show that Faraday/Vernadsky warming trend is an extreme case, circa twice those of the long-term records from other parts of the northern AP. Our results also indicate that the cooling initiated in 1998/1999 has been most significant in the N and NE of the AP and the South Shetland Islands (>0.5°C between the two last decades), modest in the Orkney Islands, and absent in the SW of the AP. This recent cooling has already impacted the cryosphere in the northern AP, including slow-down of glacier recession, a shift to surface mass gains of the peripheral glacier and a thinning of the active layer of permafrost in northern AP islands., (Copyright © 2016 Elsevier B.V. Mid-Late Holocene environmental changes in the Cantabrian Mountains are a consequence of both climate variability and human activity. A 182cm-long sedimentary sequence was collected from Belbín depression, Western Massif of Picos de Europa (Cantabrian Mountains, NW Spain), in order to reconstruct Holocene environmental dynamics and the factors triggering landscape changes in the area. Using multi-proxy analysis of the uppermost 60cm of the sediments (texture, organic matter content, quartz grains microstructures, charcoal deposition) together with three 14 C AMS dates, a sequence of alternating warmer and colder phases has been inferred for the last ca. 6.7kycalBP. Warm stages are defined by low to moderate chemical weathering of the quartz grain particles with relative increases of the C/N ratio, while colder phases show a moderate to intense physical weathering of the quartz grains and lower C/N ratios. Warmer temperatures were recorded in Belbín area between: 6.7-5, 3.7-3, 2.6-1.1, 0.87-0.51 and since 0.01kycalBP. A colder regime occurred between 5-3.7, 3-2.6, 1.1-0.87 and 0.51 to 0.01kycalBP. The increasing organic matter content during the Late Holocene may be associated with increasing temperatures. The charcoal particles do not show a higher or lower concentration during prevailing colder or warmer conditions, and therefore may be linked to human-induced fire management of the landscape. A 114.5m deep drilling was carried out in August 2000 in the bedrock of the Veleta peak, at 3380m in the massif of Sierra Nevada, Southern Spain. The objective of this work is to analyse temperatures at the first 60m depth of this drilling from September 2002 to August 2013 based on 11 UTL-1 thermal loggers located at different depths, together with air temperatures at the summit of the Veleta peak. Permanent negative temperatures have not been detected in the borehole, which shows evidence of the absence of widespread permafrost conditions nowadays in the highest lands of this massif. Bedrock temperatures oscillated between 3.2°C at 0.6m depth and 2°C at 20m below the surface. The largest temperature ranges were recorded on the most external sensors until 1.2m depth, where values reached 22.3°C. Seasonal temperature variations were significant until 10m depth. The thickness of the seasonal frozen layer was highly variable (0.6-2m) and dependent on annual climate conditions. The mean air temperature at the Veleta peak increased by 0.12°C during the study period. Bedrock temperatures followed diverging trends: a drop of 0.3-0.4°C down to 0.6m depth, a decrease of up to 0.7°C between 4 and 10m, thermal stability at 20m and a rise of 0.2°C that occurred in 2009 at the deepest sensor at 60m. The calculation of the thermal wave damping in the subsoil of the Veleta peak has allowed for quantifying the thermal diffusivity of the rock as (7.05±0.03)10(-7)m(2)/s, which means that the external climate signal arrives with an 8.5-year lag to the sensor at 60m deep. Health impact assessment (HIA) aims to incorporate people's health and wellbeing as a key feature in policy-making. Many authors believe that HIA might be systematically integrated into all decision-making processes as a way to achieve that goal. To that end, there is need to overcome a number of challenges, including the fact that Andalusia (Spain) has made HIA compulsory by law, the need for awareness of all public sectors whose decisions might have substantial impacts on health and for a methodology that would enable a comprehensive approach to health determinants and inequalities, and the training of both the public health staff and professional sectors responsible for its application. In Andalusia, a law provides mandatory and binding health impact reports for most authorisation procedures in different areas: from sectoral plans to urban planning schemes, and especially projects subject to environmental assessment. Implementation of this law has required its integration into authorisation procedures, the training of interdisciplinary working groups in public health, the preparation of technical guidelines, and the organisation of dissemination and training seminars for developers., (Copyright © 2015 SESPAS. The Andalusian Surveillance Epidemiological System (SVEA) controls and investigates any notification of measles or any other communicable disease. The aim of this article is to describe the epidemiological characteristics of measles outbreaks occurred in Andalusia in the last five years (2010-2015) and their control measures. In this period three outbreaks were reported: the first one started in Granada in 2010 in a community of objectors to vaccination. Control measures of measles protocol of SVEA were adopted (case isolation, identification and contacts immunization), including judicial measures among the group who refused the vaccination. The second outbreak started in Seville in 2011 in an "area in need of social transformation" and it spread throughout the region. The routine vaccination coverage review was introduced within the surveillance system after those outbreaks, identifying the most vulnerable people. During the first six months of 2015, a small outbreak, of 15 cases, occurred in Granada. The outbreak was controlled mainly due to the early intervention, the health measures adopted in the schools and health centres involved and the high vaccination coverage achieved in the population.

Objectives: This study describes the design and implementation of a health impact assessment (HIA) conducted in 2010 of the regeneration project of San Fernando Street, the main avenue crossing the San Miguel-El Castillo neighborhood in Alcala de Guadaíra (Seville, Spain). This project is part of the wider URBAN Plan aimed at the social, urban and economic regeneration of the city's historic center., Methods: This experience followed the standard HIA stages and procedures. The review of published evidence was complemented with new qualitative information gathered by means of a participative workshop with the local population and interviews with social and health workers involved in the neighborhood., Results: During the building stage of the project, the adverse impacts were related to a worsening of the air quality, increased noise pollution, mobility restrictions and a higher risk of accidents, particularly among older or disabled people. Once the building stage was finished, the health benefits were associated with significant improvements in physical accessibility and the population's access to health services and other goods and services. Other positive effects were the enhanced safety and attractiveness of the neighborhood and the new opportunities for socializing, social cohesion and increasing the community's self-esteem., Conclusions: This is the first HIA experience in Andalusia whose results have been integrated into a formal cycle of decision making in the local community. This experience has provided new evidence of the potential of HIA and its applicability and acceptance at the municipal level and has has also facilitated a learning process and the piloting of new methods and tools associated with the HIA process., (Copyright © 2012 SESPAS. This work concerns the monitoring of a Mediterranean maërl bed influenced by an experimental fish cage culture for eighteen months. The maërl bed showed an a priori stratified distribution with depth, which led to the selection of a stratified random sampling design that also took into account the gradient of influence by the fish cages. Maërl coverage and total biomass, macroalgae species richness and community structure as determined from semi-quantitative abundance data were assessed. The content of organic matter sediment was also considered. Sampling campaigns (performed by scuba divers) were carried out six months before the start of the culture, twice during the culture, and two months after the end of the experimental culture. Below the fish cages, the maërl community was almost completely buried and dead blackened calcareous algae were seen beneath a thin layer of sediment prior to the end of the study, and only a few specimens of Lithophyllum racemus, Flabellia petiolata, Gracilaria cylindrica and Meredithia microphylla remained alive. The influence of the experimental culture on the maërl algae community structure bed did not extend beyond the facilities, but a regression of the community was also observed close to the fish cages. Sensitivity to aquaculture activity, and the ecological benefits provided by maërl beds suggest that this community warrants further consideration when planning fish farm site selection and management., (Copyright © 2011 Elsevier Ltd. In April 2009, in response to the WHO's alert due to the existence of human infection cases with a new AH1N1 influenza virus, known as swine flu, Andalusian Health Authorities trigger an specific action plan. The surveillance actions developped provided us with appropriate clinical, epidemiological and virological characteristics of the disease. During the first few days, contingency plans were set up based on epidemiological surveillance and outbreak control measures were adopted through early alert and rapid response systems. After phase 6 was declared, influenza sentinel and severe cases surveillance were used in order to plan healthcare services, to reduce transmission and to identify and protect the most vulnerable population groups. Behaviour of pandemic influenza in Andalusia was similar to that observed in the rest of the world. Atack rate was similar to a seasonal flu and the peak was reached at the 46th/2009 week. Most of them were mild cases and affected particularly to young people. The average age of hospitalised patients was 32. Prior pulmonary disease, smoking and morbid obesity (BMI > 40) were the most common pathologies and risk factors in severe cases. An impact scenario of pandemic wave in Andalusia, with an expected attack rate from 2 to 5%, was prepared considering watt observed in the southern hemisphere. Characteristics of the epidemic concerning its extent, severity and mortality rate were adjusted to this scenario.

In this study we develop and evaluate a macroalgal bioassay tool for monitoring the spatial extent of dissolved wastes loaded from offshore fish farms into the marine coastal ecosystem. This tool is based on the analysis of the nitrogen stable isotope ratio (delta(15)N) in tissues of several benthic primary producers (macroalgae and Posidonia oceanica epiphytes) incubated, by means of incubation devices, in the water column at increasing distances (from 0 m to 1000 m) from the fish cages. The bioassays were performed in three fish farms situated in different geographical locations (the Canary Islands, Murcia and Catalonia) and we test: the suitability of the different macroalgae species used in relation with their resistance to incubation and their sensitivity to fish farm wastes and the most appropriate incubation depth (5 m or approximately 20 m) and incubation time (2, 4 or 6 days) to detect the spatial distribution of delta(15)N around fish farms. In general terms, the results showed a significant increment of delta(15)N values toward the fish cages with respect to the reference (initial) and control values for all the species of macroalgae tested except for the red algae Asparagopsis taxiformis from Canary Islands. The magnitude and shape of the reported spatial responses varied as a function of the experimental settings analyzed as well as a function of the nutrient regime characteristics of each coastal area. The spatial gradient was more consistent in the shallow part of the water column (5 m depth), than in the deeper part ( approximately 20 m) and was statistically significant after an incubation period of four days. These results confirm the effectiveness and reliability of the method proposed, enabling the spatial extent of nutrients derived from fish farms to be assessed in an effective and simple manner, suitable for use in monitoring programs around offshore fish farms.

Objective: To evaluate the impact of two strategies aimed at improving the prescription of antibiotics in the primary care context., Design: Experimental crossed-intervention study, with control group and randomised allocation to groups., Setting: Two primary care helth districts (Camas and Sierra Norte)., Participants: 84 general practitioners for whom computerised prescription data were available, and who worked for over 40% of the working days of the study period. Interventions. In the intervention group, training sessions were conducted and written information was sent out. In the control group, only written information was sent., Main Measurements: The impact of the interventions was evaluated through the student´s t test for paired data. Variables were the DHD of antibiotics, selection of first-level antibiotics and %RSP of antibiotics out of total pharmaceutical cost. Secondary measurements included duration of the effect of the intervention and description of the group who responded., Results: In the intervention group, the DHD dropped significantly (from 17.4±1.4 to 12.2±0.9) (P<.05), as did the %RSP (from 6.96%±0.6 to 5.19%±0.8), as against the control group. The impact of the intervention lasted 1.5 years, when information was sent at one year from the intervention. The profile of the doctors who responded to the intervention was women aged 46 with MIR (residential) training., Conclusions: To modify antibiotic prescription habits, training sessions accompanied by written information gives good lasting results. The profiles of respondents/non-respondents depended on sex, age and training.
