The field of nanoscale magnetic resonance imaging (NanoMRI) was started 30 years ago. It was motivated by the desire to image single molecules and molecular assemblies, such as proteins and virus particles, with near-atomic spatial resolution and on a length scale of 100 nm. Over the years, the NanoMRI field has also expanded to include the goal of useful high-resolution nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy of molecules under ambient conditions, including samples up to the micron-scale. The realization of these goals requires the development of spin detection techniques that are many orders of magnitude more sensitive than conventional NMR and MRI, capable of detecting and controlling nanoscale ensembles of spins. Over the years, a number of different technical approaches to NanoMRI have emerged, each possessing a distinct set of capabilities for basic and applied areas of science. The goal of this roadmap article is to report the current state of the art in NanoMRI technologies, outline the areas where they are poised to have impact, identify the challenges that lie ahead, and propose methods to meet these challenges. Fabrication techniques for nitrogen-vacancy centres in diamond require the creation of Frenkel defects (vacancy-interstitial pairs) the components of which can interact with formed NV centres affecting their photophysical properties. Here we use Density Functional Theory simulations of inter-defect electronic and strain interactions to explore how the NV centre and carbon self-interstitial interact in different configurations. We find that hybridization occurs between the NV centre e-orbitals and the carbon self-interstitial when an interstitial is present on the vacancy side of the NV centre. We propose that this phenomenon may explain the fluorescence blinking of NV centres observed during annealing. The question of whether Everettian quantum mechanics (EQM) justifies the existence of metaphysical indeterminacy has recently come to the fore. Metaphysical indeterminacy has been argued to emerge from three sources: coherent superpositions, the indefinite number of branches in the quantum multiverse and the nature of these branches. This paper reviews the evidence and concludes that those arguments don't rely on EQM alone and rest on metaphysical auxiliary assumptions that transcend the physics of EQM. We show how EQM can be ontologically interpreted without positing metaphysical indeterminacy by adopting a deflationary attitude towards branches. We show using time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) that light can be confined into slot waveguide modes residing between individual atomic layers of coinage metals, such as gold. As the top atomic monolayer lifts a few Å off the underlying bulk Au (111), ab initio electronic structure calculations show that for gaps >1.5 Å, visible light squeezes inside the empty slot underneath, giving optical field distributions 2 Å thick, less than the atomic diameter. Paradoxically classical electromagnetic models are also able to reproduce the resulting dispersion for these subatomic slot modes, where light reaches in-plane wavevectors ∼2 nm -1 and slows to <10 -2 . We explain the success of these classical dispersion models for gaps ≥1.5 Å due to a quantum-well state forming in the lifted monolayer in the vicinity of the Fermi level. This extreme trapping of light may explain transient "flare" emission from plasmonic cavities where Raman scattering of metal electrons is greatly enhanced when subatomic slot confinement occurs. Such atomic restructuring of Au under illumination is relevant to many fields, from photocatalysis and molecular electronics to plasmonics and quantum optics.c . The current understanding of long COVID (LC) is still limited. This review highlights key findings regarding the role of gut microbiota, mitochondria, and the main pathophysiological aspects of LC revealed by clinical studies, related to the complex interplay between infection, intestinal dysbiosis, dysfunctional mitochondria, and systemic inflammation generated in a vicious circle, reflecting the molecular and cellular processes from the "leaky gut" to the "leaky electron transport chain (ETC)" into a quantum leap. The heterogeneity of LC has hindered progress in deciphering all the pathophysiological mechanisms, and therefore, the approach must be multidisciplinary, with a special focus not only on symptomatic management but also on addressing the underlying health problems of the patients. It is imperative to further assess and validate the effects of COVID-19 and LC on the gut microbiome and their relationship to infections with other viral agents or pathogens. Further studies are needed to better understand LC and expand the interdisciplinary points of view that are required to accurately diagnose and effectively treat this heterogeneous condition. Given the ability of SARS-CoV-2 to induce autoimmunity in susceptible patients, they should be monitored for symptoms of autoimmune disease after contracting the viral infection. One question remains open, namely, whether the various vaccines developed to end the pandemic will also induce autoimmunity. Recent data highlighted in this review have revealed that the persistence of SARS-CoV-2 and dysfunctional mitochondria in organs such as the heart and, to a lesser extent, the kidneys, liver, and lymph nodes, long after the organism has been able to clear the virus from the lungs, could be an explanation for LC.

With a Nobel Prize for Physics widely viewed as only given for 'settled' science, the award then essentially accepts the validity of universal nonlocality. Other key discoveries and insights in recent years are also progressively pointing to the appearance of our Universe, its energy-matter and space-time, as not being foundational but emerging from deeper, discarnate realms of causation. as digitized and meaningful, in-formation, its manifestation pixelated at the so-named Planck scale of existence. Extending from studies of black holes to the entire Universe, a growing number of cosmologists have also developed the so-named holographic principle, to model the four-dimensional appearance of our Universe (three dimensions of space and one of time) as a holographic projection of its two- dimensional boundary. In framing the emergent cosmology of a nonlocally unified, meaningfully in-formed and holographically manifested Universe, an expansion of the three universal Laws of Thermodynamics to three Laws of Information, or Infodynamics also points the way to reconciling Quantum Theory that describes energy-matter and Relativity Theory that describes space-time and offers too an understanding of how the lifecycle of our Universe flows from its first moment until its last. The Quantum cell expansion system manufactured by Terumo-BCT is perhaps the most widely reported Good Manufacturing Practice-compliant bioreactor used for the expansion of adherent cell populations, both for research purposes and clinical cell-based therapies/trials. Although the system was originally designed for adherent cell expansion, more recently suspension cultures and extracellular vesicle manufacturing protocols have been published using the Quantum system. Cell therapy research and regenerative medicine in general is a rapidly expanding field and as such it is likely that the use of this system will become even more widespread and perhaps mandatory, for both research and development and in the clinic. The purpose of this review is to describe, compare and discuss the diverse range of research and clinical applications currently using the Quantum system, which to our knowledge has not previously been reviewed. Viral vectors are commonly used to introduce genetic material into cells to modify cell function for a variety of purposes. Manufacture of those modified viruses may use a variety of cell types to generate high titers of viral particles; one of the most common being HEK293 cells. These cells have been modified into different lines aimed at satisfying specific use cases. HEK293T cells, for example, have been modified to include the SV40 large T antigen. Efficient viral particle production by HEK293T cells requires the maintenance of favorable cell culture conditions during expansion and transfection. This protocol describes the use of the Quantum ® hollow-fiber bioreactor (HFB) system for the automated expansion of HEK293T cells, and the results derived using the protocol described herein were not compared with those from tissue culture flasks or other expansion platforms, as the parameters described are unique to Quantum's hollow fiber cell expansion environment. The purpose of this protocol is to help users of Quantum to focus on relevant parameters of expansion in the HFB milieu and to provide guidelines for a successful expansion of HEK293T cells in the Quantum system. The steps provided have been optimized to reliably control environmental factors related to glucose, lactate, and pH. Multiphoton absorption of entangled photons offers ways for obtaining unique information about chemical and biological processes. Measurements with entangled photons may enable sensing biological signatures with high selectivity and at very low light levels to protect against photodamage. In this paper, we present a theoretical and experimental study of the excitation wavelength dependence of the entangled two-photon absorption (ETPA) process in a molecular system, which provides insights into how entanglement affects molecular spectra. We demonstrate that the ETPA excitation spectrum can be different from that of classical TPA as well as that for one-photon resonant absorption (OPA) with photons of doubled frequency. These results are modeled by assuming the ETPA cross-section is governed by a two-photon excited state radiative linewidth rather than by electron-phonon interactions, and this leads to excitation spectra that match the observed results. Further, we find that the two-photon-allowed states with highest TPA and ETPA intensities have high electronic entanglements, with ETPA especially favoring states with the longest radiative lifetimes. These results provide concepts for the development of quantum light-based spectroscopy and microscopy that will lead to much higher efficiency of ETPA sensors and low-intensity detection schemes.

Embodying the indexical signs is vital to semiosis as a cohesive material agency mediating between consequents and antecedents. One unique factor of biology compared with standard physics and chemistry is the cohesion enabling the biological components, codes and organizations to accommodate themselves with a specific material embodiment. Every individual body is uniquely biological and requires a specific cohesion of material origin for its own sake that could not be found in the non-living material world. The relevant cohesion comes from the exchange interaction of the atomic quantum particles, such as the carbon atoms, which is far greater than the electrons as a common exchange mediator adopted for the spatial cohesion ubiquitous in physics and chemistry. What is specific to the temporal cohesion latent in the atomic exchange is the immutable identity of the individual quantum particle surviving only over a limited time, while being constantly alternated with the new ones of the same kinds in a successive manner. Semiosis is supported by the underlying teleonomic cohesion, such that the preceding temporal cohesion may constantly induce the succeeding similar one ad infinitum.

In the paper we refer to protective epitopes or immunological quantum for the design of candidate vaccine antigens, which may elicit a protective response through both cellular and antibody mediated mechanisms of the host immune system. Vaccines are key interventions for the prevention and control of infectious diseases affecting humans and animals worldwide. Biophysics led to quantum biology and quantum immunology reflecting quantum dynamics within living systems and their evolution. In analogy to quantum of light, immune protective epitopes were proposed as the immunological quantum. Multiple quantum vaccine algorithms were developed based on omics and other technologies. Quantum vaccinomics is the methodological approach with different platforms used for the identification and combination of immunological quantum for vaccine development. Current quantum vaccinomics platforms include in vitro , in music and in silico algorithms and top trends in biotechnology for the identification, characterization and combination of candidate protective epitopes. Medical care services are changing to address problems with the development of big data frameworks as a result of the widespread use of big data analytics. Covid illness has recently been one of the leading causes of death in people. Since then, related input chest X-ray image for diagnosing COVID illness have been enhanced by diagnostic tools. Big data technological breakthroughs provide a fantastic option for reducing contagious Covid disease. To increase the model's confidence, it is necessary to integrate a large number of training sets, however handling the data may be difficult. With the development of big data technology, a unique method to identify and categorise covid illness is now found in this research. In order to manage incoming big data, a massive volume of chest x-ray images is gathered and analysed using a distributed computing server built on the Hadoop framework. In order to group identical groups in the input x-ray images, which in turn segments the dominating portions of an image, the fuzzy empowered weighted k-means algorithm is then employed. A hybrid quantum dilated convolution neural network is suggested to classify various kinds of covid instances, and a Black Widow-based Moth Flame is also shown to improve the performance of the classifier pattern. The performance analysis of COVID-19 detection makes use of the COVID-19 radiography dataset. The suggested HQDCNet approach has an accuracy of 99.01. We present an overview of recent advances in the study of energy dynamics and mechanisms for energy conversion in qubit systems with special focus on realizations in superconducting quantum circuits. We briefly introduce the relevant theoretical framework to analyze heat generation, energy transport and energy conversion in these systems with and without time-dependent driving considering the effect of equilibrium and non-equilibrium environments. We analyze specific problems and mechanisms under current investigation in the context of qubit systems. These include the problem of energy dissipation and possible routes for its control, energy pumping between driving sources and heat pumping between reservoirs, implementation of thermal machines and mechanisms for energy storage. We highlight the underlying fundamental phenomena related to geometrical and topological properties, as well as many-body correlations. An efficient algorithm to simulate dynamics of open quantum system is presented. The method describes the dynamics by unraveling stochastic wave functions converging to a density operator description. The stochastic techniques are based on the quantum collision model. Modeling systems dynamics with wave functions and modeling the interaction with the environment with a collision sequence reduces the scale of the complexity significantly. The algorithm developed can be implemented on quantum computers. We introduce stochastic methods that exploit statistical characteristics of the model such as Markovianity, Brownian motion, and binary distribution. The central limit theorem is employed to study the convergence of distributions of stochastic dynamics of pure quantum states represented by wave vectors. By averaging a sample of functions in the distribution we prove and demonstrate the convergence of the dynamics to the mixed quantum state described by a density operator.

The relationship between theory and qualitative research has been much debated. In 2014, based on an analysis of qualitative studies, we published a five-point typology on the levels of visibility expounded in such studies. The typology captured a range of theoretical visibility - from seemingly absent to consistently applied. In 2020, we undertook a project to critique and revise the typology, guided by the ADAPT-ITT framework. ADAPT-ITT was developed originally to inform the adaptation of evidence-based interventions to new geographic regions, cultural contexts or populations related to HIV. It has subsequently evolved as a helpful framework in a number of health and social fields. The ADAPT-ITT framework provides a systematic, stepwise process that allows existing interventions to be adapted, rather than creating new interventions unnecessarily. The use of ADAPT-ITT to guide the adaptation of a methodological framework (as opposed to a health intervention) is novel and we used it flexibly, as reported in this article. Core to this process was the engagement of 14 international qualitative research experts, drawn mainly from health and social science disciplines. The outcome was a revised typology, presented in this article. There are now dozens of very different theories of consciousness, each somehow contributing to our understanding of its nature. The science of consciousness needs therefore not new theories but a general framework integrating insights from those, yet not making it a still-born "Frankenstein" theory. First, the framework must operate explicitly on the stream of consciousness, not on its static description. Second, this dynamical account must also be put on the evolutionary timeline to explain the origins of consciousness. The Cognitive Evolution Theory (CET), outlined here, proposes such a framework. This starts with the assumption that brains have primarily evolved as volitional subsystems of organisms, inherited from primitive (fast and random) reflexes of simplest neural networks, only then resembling error-minimizing prediction machines. CET adopts the tools of critical dynamics to account for metastability, scale-free avalanches, and self-organization which are all intrinsic to brain dynamics. This formalizes the stream of consciousness as a discrete (transitive, irreflexive) chain of momentary states derived from critical brain dynamics at points of phase transitions and mapped then onto a state space as neural correlates of a particular conscious state. The continuous/discrete dichotomy appears naturally between the brain dynamics at the causal level and conscious states at the phenomenal level, each volitionally triggered from arousal centers of the brainstem and cognitively modulated by thalamocortical systems. The variational quantum algorithm (VQA) is a hybrid classical-quantum algorithm. It can actually run in an intermediate-scale quantum device where the number of available qubits is too limited to perform quantum error correction, so it is one of the most promising quantum algorithms in the noisy intermediate-scale quantum era. In this paper, two ideas for solving the learning with errors problem (LWE) using VQA are proposed. First, after reducing the LWE problem into the bounded distance decoding problem, the quantum approximation optimization algorithm (QAOA) is introduced to improve classical methods. Second, after the LWE problem is reduced into the unique shortest vector problem, the variational quantum eigensolver (VQE) is used to solve it, and the number of qubits required is calculated in detail. Small-scale experiments are carried out for the two LWE variational quantum algorithms, and the experiments show that VQA improves the quality of the classical solutions.

COVID-19 is a quickly spreading over 10 million persons globally. The overall number of infected patients worldwide is estimated to be around 133,381,413 people. Infection rate is being increased on daily basis. It has also caused a devastating effect on the world economy and public health. Early stage detection of this disease is mandatory to reduce the mortality rate. Artificial intelligence performs a vital role for COVID-19 detection at an initial stage using chest radiographs. The proposed methods comprise of the two phases. Deep features (DFs) are derived from its last fully connected layers of pre-trained models like AlexNet and MobileNet in phase-I. Later these feature vectors are fused serially. Best features are selected through feature selection method of PCA and passed to the SVM and KNN for classification. In phase-II, quantum transfer learning model is utilized, in which a pre-trained ResNet-18 model is applied for DF collection and then these features are supplied as an input to the 4-qubit quantum circuit for model training with the tuned hyperparameters. The proposed technique is evaluated on two publicly available x-ray imaging datasets. The proposed methodology achieved an accuracy index of 99.0% with three classes including corona virus-positive images, normal images, and pneumonia radiographs. This paper focused on the efficiency of carbon nitride nanotubes functionalized with alanine amino acid (f-C 3 NNTs) in thiotepa (TPA) anti-cancerous drug delivery via density functional theory (DFT). Pristine C 3 NNTs were incorporated for comparison. TPA was found to spontaneously undergo exothermic adsorption onto the nanostructures. The f-C 3 NNT/TPA complexes showed the highest interaction strength. The adsorption distance of TPA was found to be smaller, with a greater adsorption capacity and solubility on the f-C 3 NNT surface than on the pristine C 3 NNT surface. As they were polar, all the complexes were concluded to be insoluble within an aqueous phase. The quantum molecular descriptors revealed the f-C 3 NNT nanocarriers to be more reactive than the C 3 NNT carrier. The drug was found to spontaneously and exothermically interact with f-C 3 NNT. As a result, f-C 3 NNT would be promising for TPA adsorption in drug delivery applications., (© 2022. Superconducting niobium nitride (NbN) continues to be investigated decades on, largely in part to its advantageous superconducting properties and wide use in superconducting electronics. Particularly, NbN-based superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors (SNSPDs) have shown exceptional performance and NbN remains as the material of choice in developing future generation quantum devices. In this perspective, we describe the processing-structure-property relationships governing the superconducting properties of NbN films. We further discuss the complex interplay between the material properties, processing parameters, substrate materials, device architectures, and performance of SNSPDs. A 1D Josephson junction (JJ) loop, doped with a spin-flipper and attached to two thermal reservoirs is shown to operate as a heat engine, or a refrigerator, or a Joule pump or even as a cold pump. When operating as a quantum heat engine, the efficiency of this device exceeds that of some recent Josephson heat engine proposals. Further, as a quantum refrigerator, the coefficient of performance of this device is much higher than previously proposed JJ based refrigerators. In addition, this device can be tuned from engine mode to refrigerator mode or to any other mode, i.e., Joule pump or cold pump by either tuning the temperature of reservoirs, or via the flux enclosed in the JJ loop. In presence of spin flip scattering we can tune our device from engine mode to other operating modes by only changing the enclosed flux in JJ loop without changing the temperatures of the reservoirs. Direct top-down nanopatterning of semiconductors is a powerful tool for engineering properties of optoelectronic devices. Translating this approach to two-dimensional semiconductors such as monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) is challenging because of both the small scales required for confinement and the degradation of electronic and optical properties caused by high-energy and high-dose electron radiation used for high-resolution top-down direct electron beam patterning. We show that encapsulating a TMD monolayer with hexagonal boron nitride preserves the narrow exciton linewidths and emission intensity typical in such heterostructures after electron beam lithography, allowing direct patterning of functional optical monolayer nanostructures on scales of a few tens of nanometers. We leverage this fabrication method to study size-dependent effects on nanodot arrays of MoS 2 and MoSe 2 as well as laterally confined electrical transport devices, demonstrating the potential of top-down lithography for nanoscale TMD optoelectronics.

With the continuous miniaturization in device dimension to reach the expectation raised by semiconductor users, the shape and size of the MOSFET are changing periodically. The journey started in the year 1960, reached the milestone, and still going on to create history. Due to continuous downscaling, the device dimensions have already reached the critical limit and further miniaturization is a challenge. As a result of which some unwanted effects were raised unknowingly to suppress the device performances while entering into nanoscale. To overcome these kinds of barriers, different device architectures were proposed to keep the journey on. In the present work we theoretically study Seebeck effect in a set of several quantum dots in a serial configuration coupled to nonmagnetic conducting electrodes. We focus on the combined effect of intra-dot Coulomb interactions between electrons and the number of dots on the thermopower ( S ) and the thermoelectric figure of merit (ZT) of the considered transport junction within the Coulomb blockade regime. We show that a strong enhancement of the both S and ZT may occur when the chemical potential of electrodes is situated within the Coulomb gap in the electron transmission spectrum thus indicating a possibility of significant increase of the efficiency of heat-to-electric energy conversion. Schrödinger noticed in 1952 that a scalar complex wave function can be made real by a gauge transformation. The author showed recently that one real function is also enough to describe matter in the Dirac equation in an arbitrary electromagnetic or Yang-Mills field. This suggests some "symmetry" between positive and negative frequencies and, therefore, particles and antiparticles, so the author previously considered a description of one-particle wave functions as plasma-like collections of a large number of particles and antiparticles. The description has some similarities with Bohmian mechanics. This work offers a criterion for approximation of continuous charge density distributions by discrete ones with quantized charge based on the equality of partial Fourier sums, and an example of such approximation is computed using the homotopy continuation method. An example mathematical model of the description is proposed. The description is also extended to composite particles, such as nucleons or large molecules, regarded as collections including a composite particle and a large number of pairs of elementary particles and antiparticles. While it is not clear if this is a correct description of the reality, it can become a basis of an interesting model or useful picture of quantum mechanics.

With the emergence of big data and more personalized approaches to spine care and predictive modeling, data science and deep analytics are taking center-stage. Although current techniques in machine learning and artificial intelligence have gained attention, their applications remain limited by their reliance on traditional analytic platforms. Quantum computing has the ability to circumvent such constraints by attending to the various complexities of big data while minimizing space and time dimensions within computational algorithms. In doing so, quantum computing may one day address research and clinical objectives that currently cannot be tackled. Decision-making is described as a natural process, one among others, consuming free energy in the least time. The thermodynamic tenet explains why data associated with decisions display the same patterns as any other data: skewed distributions, sigmoidal cumulative curves, oscillations, and even chaos. Moreover, it is shown that decision-making is intrinsically an intractable process because everything depends on everything else. However, no decision is arbitrary but bounded by free energy, such as resources and propellants, and restricted by mechanisms like molecular, neural, and social networks. The least-time maximation of entropy, equivalent to the minimization of free energy, parallels the optimization of subjective expected utility. According to the Warburg effect, there are some significant differences between metabolisms, products and process of respirations of cancer cells and normal cells. For example, normal cells absorb oxygen and glucose and give water molecules, carbon dioxide, ATP molecules and some number of spinors; while cancer cells take glucose and give lactate, less number of ATP molecules and different number of spinors. Using this property, we can design a system from two graphene sheets that are connected by pairing the fourth free electrons of carbons. Then, we can break some pairs and produce some holes. The number of these holes should be equal to the number of radiated spinors by normal cells. Near a normal cell, all holes are filled and the graphene system doesn't emit any electrical current or wave. However, near a cancer cell, some extra holes or spinors remain that their motions produce some electrical currents. These currents force on cancer cell membranes and destroy them and consequently, cause the cell death. Also, these currents emit some electromagnetic waves which detectors could take them out of the human's body and consequently, they could play the main role in imaging.

Introduction: Vaccines are a major achievement in medical sciences, but the development of more effective vaccines against infectious diseases is essential for prevention and control of emerging pathogens worldwide. The application of omics technologies has advanced vaccinology through the characterization of host-vector-pathogen molecular interactions and the identification of candidate protective antigens. However, major challenges such as host immunity, pathogen and environmental factors, vaccine efficacy and safety need to be addressed. Quantum magnonics is an emerging research field, with great potential for applications in a magnon based quantum technologies, including quantum computing, processing and encoding information. Magnon correlation and quantum entanglement are the main concepts in many quantum technologies under development. Of particular interest is the magnon Bose condensation. The emerging current question is the applicability of quasi-classical Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equations to describe the coherent state of magnons. We performed micromagnetic modeling of the magnetization dynamics at a high angle of deviation in an inhomogeneous magnetic field. We have obtained solutions that are well coincided with the properties of experimentally observed magnon BEC states. In the present study, phytochemical investigation, antioxidant potential and quantum study on the dichloromethane (DCM) and ethanol extracts of Araucaria columnaris (G. Forst.) Hook. branches have been carried out. The ethanol extract has higher total bioactive contents as compare with DCM extract such as total polyphenolic contents, total flavonoids contents and total tannin contents. The phytochemical quantification and volatile composition of most bioactive extract (ethanol) has been carried out by RP-HPLC-DAD (9-compounds) and GC-MS (19-compounds). The antioxidant potential was demonstrated using free radical scavenging, phosphomolybdenum, metal chelating and reducing power assays. The ethanol extract has higher antioxidant potential. The Density Functional Theory (DFT) has been carried out on major phytochemicals of ethanol extract. The current findings revealed an excellent concentration of bioactive compounds in A. columnaris (G. Forst.) Hook. branch, which reaffirms the great significance of the current work and benefaction to natural products chemistry.

Ameloblastoma, a benign but locally aggressive odontogenic tumor, often demonstrates metastasis despite benign histological features and this variant is termed as metastasizing ameloblastoma (METAM). It was classified under the malignant category in the 2005 WHO but has been re-classified under benign epithelial odontogenic tumors in the latest 2017 WHO classification. The present review aimed at gathering the available data on METAM to update the current cognizance about the pathology. Comprehensive search of the databases (viz., PubMed, Medline, SCOPUS, Web of Science, EMBASE and Google Scholar) was done for published articles on METAM following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. A total of 42 cases were extracted. The mean age of occurrence was 42.71 ± 15.87 years. A slight male predilection was noted. Mandibular cases showed more metastasis than maxillary cases. Follicular ameloblastoma was most frequently encountered at secondary site followed by plexiform type. Lungs were the most commonly affected secondary sites. METAM is a rare odontogenic tumor and the diagnosis is usually made in retrospect. Inadequate treatment may result in multiple recurrences and metastasis in rare instances. Metastasis in ameloblastoma appears to be multi-factorial in nature and needs further investigation in untapped territory like exploration of quantum effects at cellular and molecular levels., (© 2021. About a century ago, in the spirit of ancient atomism, the quantum of light was renamed the photon to suggest that it is the fundamental element of everything. Since the photon carries energy in its period of time, a flux of photons inexorably embodies a flow of time. Thus, time comprises periods as a trek comprises legs. The flows of quanta naturally select optimal paths (i.e., geodesics) to level out energy differences in the least amount of time. The corresponding flow equations can be written, but they cannot be solved. Since the flows affect their driving forces, affecting the flows, and so on, the forces (i.e., causes) and changes in motions (i.e., consequences) are inseparable. Thus, the future remains unpredictable. However, it is not all arbitrary but rather bounded by free energy. Eventually, when the system has attained a stationary state where forces tally, there are no causes and no consequences. Since there are no energy differences between the system and its surroundings, the quanta only orbit on and on. Thus, time does not move forward either but circulates.

We compare different approaches to quantum ontology. In particular, we discuss an interpretation of quantum mechanics that we call objective quantum field theory (OQFT), which involves retrocausal fields. Here, objective implies the existence of fields independent of an observer, but not that the results of conjugate measurements are predetermined: the theory is contextual. The ideas and analyses of Einstein and Bohr through to more recent approaches to objective realism are discussed. We briefly describe measurement induced projections, the guided wave interpretation, many-universes, consistent histories and modal theories. These earlier interpretations are compared with OQFT. We argue that this approach is compatible both with Bohr's quantum complementarity and Einstein's objective realism.

The ability to perform nanoscale electric field imaging of elementary charges at ambient temperatures will have diverse interdisciplinary applications. While the nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center in diamond is capable of high-sensitivity electrometry, demonstrations have so far been limited to macroscopic field features or detection of single charges internal to the diamond itself. In this work, we greatly extend these capabilities by using a shallow NV center to image the electric field of a charged atomic force microscope tip with nanoscale resolution. This is achieved by measuring Stark shifts in the NV spin-resonance due to AC electric fields. We demonstrate a near single-charge sensitivity of η e = 5.3 charges/√Hz and subelementary charge detection (0.68e). This proof-of-concept experiment provides the motivation for further sensing and imaging of electric fields using NV centers in diamond.

Two crispine A analogs and tetrahydrofuro[2,3-b]furan-3,3a(6aH)-diol, endowed with hydroxyl groups that can participate in intramolecular hydrogen bonding, have been synthesized and experimental vibrational circular dichroism (VCD) spectra and optical rotatory dispersion (ORD) data have been measured in CD 3 OD/CH 3 OH solvents. The absolute configurations (ACs) of these compounds have been determined using their synthetic schemes, supplemented wherever possible with X-ray diffraction data. The ACs are also analyzed with quantum chemical (QC) calculations of VCD and ORD utilizing implicit solvation as well as explicit solvation models, with the later employing classical molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. It is found that VCD calculations with implicit solvation model are adequate for determining the ACs, despite propensity of studied compounds for intermolecular hydrogen bonding between solute and solvent molecules. This observation is important because time-consuming MD simulations may not be necessary in the type of situations studied here. Additionally, it is found that the QC predicted VCD spectra provided enough diastereomer discrimination for determining the correct AC of studied compounds independently. Everett's relative-state construction in quantum theory has never been satisfactorily expressed in the Heisenberg picture. What one might have expected to be a straightforward process was impeded by conceptual and technical problems that we solve here. The result is a construction which, unlike Everett's one in the Schrödinger picture, makes manifest the locality of Everettian multiplicity, its inherently approximative nature and its origin in certain kinds of entanglement and locally inaccessible information. The QBIT theory is an attempt toward solving the problem of consciousness based on empirical evidence provided by various scientific disciplines including quantum mechanics, biology, information theory, and thermodynamics. This theory formulates the problem of consciousness in the following four questions, and provides preliminary answers for each question: Question 1: What is the nature of qualia?, Answer: A quale is a superdense pack of quantum information encoded in maximally entangled pure states. Question 2: How are qualia generated?, Answer: When a pack of quantum information is compressed beyond a certain threshold, a quale is generated. Question 3: Why are qualia subjective?, Answer: A quale is subjective because a pack of information encoded in maximally entangled pure states are essentially private and unshareable. Question 4: Why does a quale have a particular meaning?, Answer: A pack of information within a cognitive system gradually obtains a particular meaning as it undergoes a progressive process of interpretation performed by an internal model installed in the system. This paper introduces the QBIT theory of consciousness, and explains its basic assumptions and conjectures.

We present an innovative method for quantum two-party cryptography. Our protocol introduces joint measurement and error estimation to improve the security of two-party cryptographic protocols. Our protocol removes the assumption of the attacker's limited power and catches the attacking actions through highly estimated bit error rate. Our protocol is formally proved to be secure against both eavesdroppers and dishonest communication parties. We also utilize our designed protocol to construct two specific two-party cryptographic applications: Quantum bit commitment and quantum password identification.

Genetics and personality can be determined and assessed in individuals, which can be used to predict behaviours in large groups and possibly individually. This report will describe how to use quantum decision theory (QDT) to predict these behaviours. Genetics and personality correlations to risk-taking using QDT in balloon analogue risk tasks (BART) will be covered in this report. The areas of theory covered will be BART, QDT, QDT in BART, personality correlations to risk-taking in BART, genetic correlations to risk-taking in BART, the models used in these theories and a presentation of new models to use these theories together. This article reviews many other primary research articles, which analyses the correlation between genetics/personality and risk-taking behaviour in BART. Medicine has utilised plant-based treatments for millennia, but precisely how they work is unclear. One approach is to use a thermodynamic viewpoint that life arose by dissipating geothermal and/or solar potential. Hence, the ability to dissipate energy to maintain homeostasis is a fundamental principle in all life, which can be viewed as an accretion system where layers of complexity have built upon core abiotic molecules. Many of these compounds are chromophoric and are now involved in multiple pathways. Plants have further evolved a plethora of chromophoric compounds that can not only act as sunscreens and redox modifiers, but also have now become integrated into a generalised stress adaptive system. This could be an extension of the dissipative process. In animals, many of these compounds are hormetic, modulating mitochondria and calcium signalling. They can also display anti-pathogen effects. They could therefore modulate bioenergetics across all life due to the conserved electron transport chain and proton gradient. Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a clonal hematologic neoplasm characterized by rapid, uncontrolled cell growth of immature myeloid cells (blasts). There are numerous genetic abnormalities in AML, many of which are prognostic, but an increasing number are targets for drug therapy. One of the most common genetic abnormalities in AML are activating mutations in the FMS-like tyrosine kinase 3 receptor (FLT3). As a receptor tyrosine kinase, FLT3 was the first targetable genetic abnormality in AML. The first generation of FLT3 inhibitors were broad-spectrum kinase inhibitors that inhibited FLT3 among other proteins. Although clinically active, first-generation FLT3 inhibitors had limited success as single agents. This led to the development of a second generation of more selective FLT3 inhibitors. This review focuses on quizartinib, a potent second-generation FLT3 inhibitor. Absence or reduced frequency of human regulatory T cells (Tregs) can limit the control of inflammatory responses, autoimmunity, and the success of transplant engraftment. Clinical studies indicate that use of Tregs as immunotherapeutics would require billions of cells per dose. The Quantum® Cell Expansion System (Quantum system) is a hollow-fiber bioreactor that has previously been used to grow billions of functional T cells in a short timeframe, 8-9 d. Here we evaluated expansion of selected Tregs in the Quantum system using a soluble activator to compare the effects of automated perfusion with manual diffusion-based culture in flasks. Treg CD4 + CD25 + cells from three healthy donors, isolated via column-free immunomagnetic negative/positive selection, were grown under static conditions and subsequently seeded into Quantum system bioreactors and into T225 control flasks in an identical culture volume of PRIME-XV XSFM medium with interleukin-2, for a 9-d expansion using a soluble anti-CD3/CD28/CD2 monoclonal antibody activator complex. Treg harvests from three parallel expansions produced a mean of 3.95 × 10 8 (range 1.92 × 10 8 to 5.58 × 10 8 ) Tregs in flasks (mean viability 71.3%) versus 7.00 × 10 9 (range 3.57 × 10 9 to 13.00 × 10 9 ) Tregs in the Quantum system (mean viability 91.8%), demonstrating a mean 17.7-fold increase in Treg yield for the Quantum system over that obtained in flasks. The two culture processes gave rise to cells with a memory Treg CD4 + CD25 + FoxP3 + CD45RO + phenotype of 93.7% for flasks versus 97.7% for the Quantum system. Tregs from the Quantum system demonstrated an 8-fold greater interleukin-10 stimulation index than cells from flask culture following restimulation. Quantum system-expanded Tregs proliferated, maintained their antigenic phenotype, and suppressed effector immune cells after cryopreservation. We conclude that an automated perfusion bioreactor can support the scale-up expansion of functional Tregs more efficiently than diffusion-based flask culture.

Nanostructured photoanodes are attractive materials for hydrogen production via water photo-electrolysis process. This study focused on the incorporation of carbon quantum dots doped with nitrogen as a photosensitizer into meso porous tungsten trioxide photoanodes (N-CQD/ meso -WO 3 ) using a surfactant self-assembly template approach. The crystal structure, composition, and morphology of pure and N-CQD- modified meso porous WO 3 photoanodes were investigated using scanning electron and transmission microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Due to their high surface area, enhanced optical absorption, and charge-carrier separation and transfer, the resulting N-CQD/ meso -WO 3 photoanodes exhibited a significantly enhanced photocurrent density of 1.45 mA cm -2 at 1.23 V vs. RHE under AM 1.5 G illumination in 0.5 M Na 2 SO 4 without any co-catalysts or sacrificial reagent, which was about 2.23 times greater than its corresponding pure meso -WO 3 . Moreover, the oxygen evolution onset potential of the N-CQD/ meso -WO 3 photoanodes exhibited a negative shift of 95 mV, signifying that both the charge-carrier separation and transfer processes were promoted.

Background: The rapid evolution of cell-based immunotherapies such as chimeric antigen receptor T-cells for treatment of hematological cancers has precipitated the need for a platform to expand these cells ex vivo in a safe, efficient, and reproducible manner. In the Quantum ® Cell Expansion System (Quantum system) we evaluated the expansion of T-cells from healthy donors in a functionally-closed environment that reduces time and resources needed to produce a therapeutic dose., Methods: Mononuclear cells from leukapheresis products from 5 healthy donors were activated with anti-CD3/CD28 Dynabeads ® and expanded in the Quantum system for 8-9 days using xeno-free, serum-free medium and IL-2. Harvested cells were phenotyped by flow cytometry and evaluated for cytokine secretion by multiplex assays., Results: From starting products of 30 or 85 × 10 6 mononuclear cells, CD3 + T-cell populations expanded over 500-fold following stimulation to provide yields up to 25 × 10 9 cells within 8 days. T-cell yields from all donors were similar in terms of harvest numbers, viability and doubling times. Functionality (secretion of IFN-γ, IL-2 and TNF-α) was retained in harvested T-cells upon restimulation in vitro and T-cells displayed therapeutically-relevant less-differentiated phenotypes of naïve and central memory T-cells, with low expression of exhaustion markers LAG-3 and PD-1., Conclusions: The Quantum system has been successfully used to produce large quantities of functional T-cells at clinical dosing scale and within a short timeframe. This platform could have wide applicability for autologous and allogeneic cellular immunotherapies for the treatment of cancer.
