The methods that can accurately measure the concentrations of nonextractable residues (NERs) of hydrophobic organic contaminants (HOCs) in soil are still lacked in current studies. In this study, three methods, namely methanolic saponification treatment (MST), silylation treatment (ST), and acid deashing treatment (ADT), were investigated and then combined to extract the NERs of six types of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) from nine soil samples. The NER concentrations of PAHs obtained by ST (2.43-521.73 ng g -1 ) were comparable to or significantly higher than those obtained by MST (1.94-291.54 ng g -1 ), owing to the properties of soil and target compounds. Additionally, ADT could further release a considerable amount of PAH NERs (0.39-276.99 ng g -1 ) from the soils that had been treated with ST. The mechanism was that acid solution dissolved mineral components, significantly increasing the pore size of the soil matrices from 9.37-15.57 nm to 17.11-27.51 nm. The average percentage of each PAH obtained by ADT (the ratio of the amount obtained by ADT to the total NER content) exhibited a negative correlation with their ring numbers (R 2  = 0.62, p < 0.05), whereas the percentage of targets recovered through ST increased linearly with their log K OW values (R 2  = 0.75, p < 0.05). Moreover, there is a positive correlation (R 2  = 0.73, p < 0.05) between the NER percentages of phenanthrene (obtained by ST-ADT) and the specific surface areas of soils, and the NER percentages of benzo(g,h,i)perylene is positively correlated to the content of total organic carbon (R 2  = 0.62, p < 0.05). These results suggested that the amounts and locations of NERs were influenced by both the physicochemical characteristics of PAHs and soils. The excellent stability of covalent organic frameworks (COFs) and the diversity of metal organic frameworks (MOFs) make MOF/COF hybrid materials promising candidates for chromatographic stationary phases. In this paper, a TpBD/UiO-66-NH 2 hybrid material was synthesized through a Schiff-base reaction between TpBD COFs and UiO-66-NH 2 MOFs; characterized using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy; and bonded to a capillary to prepare a TpBD/UiO-66-NH 2 -bonded open tubular capillary electrochromatography (OT-CEC) column. Results suggested that the hybrid material had the crystal morphology of a single COF and MOF, a micro-mesoporous structure, and good thermal stability. The inner surface of the OT-CEC column was tightly and uniformly distributed with the stationary phase (∼1.5 μm). The baseline separation of 13 amino acids and three families (4 acidic antibiotics, 4 preservatives and 6 sulfonamides) of emerging pollutant mixtures was achieved due to the synergistic effect of TpBD and UiO-66-NH 2 in the stationary phase. Cancer remains the leading cause of human death worldwide. Compared to traditional therapies, tumor immunotherapy has received a lot of attention and research focus due to its potential to activate both innate and adaptive immunity, low toxicity to normal tissue, and long-term immune activity. However, its clinical effectiveness and large-scale application are limited due to the immunosuppression microenvironment, lack of spatiotemporal control, expensive cost, and long manufacturing time. Recently, nanomaterial combined engineered bacteria have emerged as a promising solution to the challenges of tumor immunotherapy, which offers spatiotemporal control, reversal of immunosuppression, and scalable production. Therefore, we summarize the latest research on nanomaterial-assisted engineered bacteria for precise tumor immunotherapies, including the cross-talk of nanomaterials and bacteria as well as their application in different immunotherapies. In addition, we further discuss the advantages and challenges of nanomaterial-engineered bacteria and their future prospects, inspiring more novel and intelligent tumor immunotherapy.

Background and Objective: China has the highest number of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infections in the world. However, it is unclear what levels of screening and treatment are needed to achieve the WHO 2030 hepatitis C elimination targets. We aimed to evaluate the impact of scaling up interventions on the hepatitis C epidemic and determine how and at what cost these elimination targets could be achieved for the whole population in China., Methods: We developed a compartmental model incorporating HCV transmission, disease progression, and care cascade for the whole population in China, calibrated with data on demographics, injecting drug use, HCV prevalence, and treatments. Five different scenarios were evaluated for effects and costs for 2022-2030. All costs were converted to 2021 US dollar (USD) and discounted at an annual rate of 5%. One-way sensitivity analyses were conducted to assess the robustness of the model., Results: Under the status quo scenario, the incidence of hepatitis C is projected to increase from 60.39 (57.60-63.45) per 100,000 person-years in 2022 to 68.72 (65.3-73.97) per 100,000 person-years in 2030, and 2.52 million (1.94-3.07 million) infected patients are projected to die between 2022 and 2030, of which 0.76 (0.61-1.08) million will die due to hepatitis C. By increasing primary screening to 10%, conducting regular rescreening (annually for PWID and every 5 years for the general population) and treating 90% of patients diagnosed, the incidence would be reduced by 88.15% (86.61-89.45%) and hepatitis C-related mortality by 60.5% (52.62-65.54%) by 2030, compared with 2015 levels. This strategy would cost USD 52.78 (USD 43.93-58.53) billion., Conclusions: Without changes in HCV prevention and control policy, the disease burden of HCV in China will increase dramatically. Introduction: Human respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the leading cause of lower respiratory tract infection, especially in children and older people. However, no effective treatment is currently available. Type I interferons (IFNs) are a group of cytokines that help regulate the activity of the immune system. GB05, human IFNα1b inhalation solution, was developed under US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) standard guidelines to combat RSV infection. This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, dose-escalation phase I trial evaluated the safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics of nebulized GB05., Methods: A total of 35 eligible healthy Chinese adult volunteers were enrolled in this study. In the single ascending dose (SAD) study, volunteers were randomized into 0.2, 0.6, 1.2, and 1.8 million IU of GB05 or placebo. In the multiple ascending dose (MAD) study, volunteers received 1.2 or 1.8 million IU of GB05 or placebo for four consecutive days. Safety, tolerability, immunogenicity, and plasma pharmacokinetics were assessed for all groups., Results: All adverse events were mild or moderate and resolved spontaneously. The most common adverse event was decreased white blood cell count (8.6% in SAD and 10% in MAD). No serious adverse events, deaths, or adverse events that reached the termination criteria occurred during the study. In SAD, the maximum concentration and area under the curve increased across the dose range of 1.2-1.8 million IU in a non-linear relationship. The maximum plasma concentration after GB05 nebulization (1.06 IU/ml in the 1.8 million IU group) reflected a low concentration in the blood, suggesting a better lung uptake of GB05 and reduced incidence or risks of adverse events. In MAD, a steady state was reached after continuous administrations of twice daily for 3 days., Conclusions: Overall, nebulized GB05 exhibited satisfactory safety, tolerability, and favorable pharmacokinetic (PK) profiles in healthy adult volunteers, supporting further clinical investigation in patients infected with respiratory syncytial virus., Clinical Trial Registration: ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier NCT06277167., (© 2024. Pentacyclic triterpenes have attracted much attention because of their many bioactivities, but their bioaccessibility is low. Oleanolic acid (OA) was used in this study as a typical edible pentacyclic triterpene. In this work, we proposed an OA interfacial delivery model based on W/O Pickering emulsion, and investigated the effects of different oil types on the emulsion properties and OA bioaccessibility of the OA W/O Pickering emulsion interfacial delivery system (EIDS). Medium chain triglyceride (MCT), long chain triglycerides (LCT) and MCT/LCT (1:1, w/w) were selected as carrier oils for the preparation of emulsions, respectively. The results showed that the emulsions formed from LCT had smaller particle sizes, which increased the deformation resistance of the emulsions and exhibited good stability during the simulated in vitro digestion. The extent of free fatty acid (FFA) release during oil digestion was MCT (103.32 ± 3.74 %) > M/L (97.89 ± 2.89 %) > LCT (71.41 ± 6.64 %). Of interest, the bioaccessibility of OA was influenced by the carrier oil: LCT (59.34 ± 2.55 %) > M/L (47.35 ± 6.25 %) > MCT (13.11 ± 1.40 %) ＞ PBS (7.11 ± 1.74 %), and such a difference was mainly attributed to the greater solubilisation of OA in mixed micelles consisting of long-chain fatty acids. In summary, the size of hydrophobic domains in the mixed micelles produced a greater effect than the effect of FFA release on OA bioaccessibility. Spatholobus suberectus Dunn (Leguminosae) has been used for medicinal purposes for a long period. Flavonoids are the major bioactive components of S. suberectus. However, there is still limited knowledge of the exact method via which transcription factors (TFs) regulate flavonoid biosynthesis. The full-length transcriptome of S. suberectus was analyzed using SMRT sequencing; 61,548 transcripts were identified, including 12,311 new gene loci, 53,336 novel transcripts, 44,636 simple sequence repeats, 36,414 complete coding sequences, 871 long non-coding RNAs and 6781 TFs. The SsMYB158 TF, which is associated with flavonoid biosynthesis, belongs to the R2R3-MYB class and is localized subcellularly to the nucleus. The overexpression of SsMYB158 in Nicotiana benthamiana and the transient overexpression of SsMYB158 in S. suberectus resulted in a substantial enhancement in both flavonoids and catechin levels. In addition, there was a remarkable upregulation in the expression of essential enzyme-coding genes associated with the flavonoid biosynthesis pathways. Different rearing systems have varying effect on animal welfare and meat quality of poultry. Currently, there are no established standards for the rearing systems of Chinese indigenous chickens. Our study aimed to investigate the effects of different rearing systems on the meat quality, gene profiles, and metabolites of Chinese indigenous chickens (Nanchuan chicken). 10-wk-old Nanchuan chickens (n=360) were randomly divided into 3 groups (cage, net, and free-range groups), with 6 replicates per group (20 chickens per replicate). The experiment lasted for 12 wk. At 154-days-old, 36 healthy chickens (6 males and 6 females per group) were randomly selected, euthanized, and their breast muscles were collected to assess the meat quality parameters and histomorphological characteristics. Additionally, breast muscles from 18 random hens (3 males and 3 females per group) were used for metabolomics and RNA-seq analysis. The results showed that rearing systems significantly affected the meat quality and myofiber characteristics. The meat quality of breast muscles from free-range chickens was superior to that of caged chickens, characterized by more tender meat and smaller myofiber cross-sectional areas. Integrative metabolomics and transcriptomics analysis revealed that the differentially expressed genes of chicken breast muscles were primarily involved in the myofiber differentiation. Mechanically, the improved meat quality of breast muscle in free-range chickens were mainly associated with enhanced skeletal muscle differentiation facilitated by fibromodulin, increased levels of up-regulated Acetyl-L-carnitine and Propionylcarnitine level, and decreased levels of Nonanoic acid and Elaidic acid abundance (Graphical abstract). This provides a comprehensive understanding of the most effective and sustainable breeding, production, and rearing systems for Chinese indigenous chickens. Plant-associated streptomycetes play important roles in plant growth and development. However, knowledge of volatile-mediated crosstalk between Streptomyces spp. and plants remains limited. In this study, we investigated the impact of volatiles from nine endophytic Streptomyces strains on the growth and development of plants. One versatile strain, Streptomyces setonii WY228, was found to significantly promote the growth of Arabidopsis thaliana and tomato seedlings, confer salt tolerance, and induce early flowering and increased fruit yield following volatile treatment. Analysis of plant growth-promoting traits revealed that S. setonii WY228 could produce indole-3-acetic acid, siderophores, ACC deaminase, fix nitrogen, and solubilize inorganic phosphate. These capabilities were further confirmed through genome sequencing and analysis. Volatilome analysis indicated that the volatile organic compounds emitted from ISP-2 medium predominantly comprised sesquiterpenes and 2-ethyl-5-methylpyrazine. Further investigations showed that 2-ethyl-5-methylpyrazine and sesquiterpenoid volatiles were the primary regulators promoting growth, as confirmed by experiments using the terpene synthesis inhibitor phosphomycin, pure compounds, and comparisons of volatile components. Transcriptome analysis, combined with mutant and inhibitor studies, demonstrated that WY228 volatiles promoted root growth by activating Arabidopsis auxin signaling and polar transport, and enhanced root hair development through ethylene signaling activation. Additionally, it was confirmed that volatiles can stimulate plant abscisic acid signaling and activate the MYB75 transcription factor, thereby promoting anthocyanin synthesis and enhancing plant salt stress tolerance. Our findings suggest that aerial signaling-mediated plant growth promotion and abiotic stress tolerance represent potentially overlooked mechanisms of Streptomyces-plant interactions. Our knowledge on permafrost carbon (C) cycle is crucial for understanding its feedback to climate warming and developing nature-based solutions for mitigating climate change. To understand the characteristics of permafrost C cycle on the Tibetan Plateau, the largest alpine permafrost region around the world, we summarized recent advances including the stocks and fluxes of permafrost C and their responses to thawing, and depicted permafrost C dynamics within this century. We find that this alpine permafrost region stores approximately 14.1 Pg (1 Pg=10 15 g) of soil organic C (SOC) in the top 3 m. Both substantial gaseous emissions and lateral C transport occur across this permafrost region. Moreover, the mobilization of frozen C is expedited by permafrost thaw, especially by the formation of thermokarst landscapes, which could release significant amounts of C into the atmosphere and surrounding water bodies. This alpine permafrost region nevertheless remains an important C sink, and its capacity to sequester C will continue to increase by 2100. For future perspectives, we would suggest developing long-term in situ observation networks of C stocks and fluxes with improved temporal and spatial coverage, and exploring the mechanisms underlying the response of ecosystem C cycle to permafrost thaw. Infected skin wound has gradually become a prevalent injury that affects overall health. Currently, biomaterials with good adhesion, efficient antibacterial properties, and angiogenesis are considered as a suitable way to effectively heal infected wound. Herein, a multifunctional hydrogel comprising gelatin, dopamine (DA), and ferric ions (Fe 3+ ) was developed for infected wound healing. The modified gelatin-dopamine (Gel-DA) enhanced adhesive capability. Subsequently introducing ferric ions (Fe 3+ ) to form Gel-DA-Fe 3+ hydrogels by Fe 3+ and catechol coordination bonds. The designed hydrogels demonstrated multifaceted functionality, encompassing photothermal antibacterial, angiogenesis, and so on. The introduction of DA enhanced the adhesion of Gel-DA-Fe 3+ to the skin surface and might serve as a physical barrier to seal wound. Meanwhile, DA and Fe 3+ jointly endowed good photothermal effects to composite hydrogels, which could eliminate over 95 % of bacteria. In vitro results revealed that Gel-DA-Fe 3+ hydrogels had good biocompatibility and promoted HUVECs migration and tube formation. Furthermore, in vivo studies confirmed that Gel-DA-Fe 3+ hydrogels markedly expedited the wound healing of rats through eradicating bacteria, accelerating the deposition of collagen, and promoting angiogenesis. What's more, Gel-DA-Fe 3+ hydrogels under near-infrared laser had a more pronounced ability for wound healing. Background: QingChang-XiaoPi Decoction (QCXPY), a Chinese herbal prescription, has been employed in the treatment of ulcerative colitis (UC) in China. However, its molecular mechanism of action in UC remains unclear., Purpose: To elucidate the therapeutic effects of QCXPY against UC and reveal its mechanism of action., Study Design: We conducted a single-arm observation to evaluate the clinical efficacy of QCXPY in patients with mild-to-moderate UC. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were established to ensure the eligibility of participants, with a focus on excluding patients with specific conditions or complications that could confound the results., Methods: The expression of inflammatory factors in patients' serum was detected using a Luminex assay. The main components of QCXPY were identified using UHPLC-Q-TOF-MS. Network pharmacology was employed to predict potential therapeutic targets and their mechanisms of action. The efficacy of QCXPY was evaluated using a dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced mouse model. Disease activity index (DAI), histopathological score, cytokine detection by ELISA, T-helper 17 (Th17) cell proportion by flow cytometry, expression of the IL-23/IL-17 axis, and changes in the levels of its downstream effectors were detected by immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and western blotting., Results: QCXPY could alleviate the symptoms of diarrhea, abdominal pain, abdominal distension, and purulent stool in patients with mild-to-moderate UC. Moreover, it reduced the expression of IL-6, IL-17, and IL-23 in serum; alleviated DSS-induced experimental colitis in mice; reduced DAI, pathological scores, and the expressions of IL-6, IL-17, and IL-23 in colon tissue; and decreased the proportion of pathogenic Th17 cells and the expression of STAT3 and phospho-STAT3., Conclusion: This study confirmed for the first time that QCXPY could alleviate intestinal symptoms, reduce the levels of serum inflammatory factors, and improve the quality of life of patients with mild-to-moderate UC. Background: This study was performed to summarize our experience in treating acute superior mesenteric artery embolism (SMAE) by percutaneous mechanical thrombectomy (PMT)., Methods: Between January 2023 and October 2023, 18 patients presenting with acute mesenteric ischemia were admitted to our center, including 11 cases of SMAE, 3 cases of superior mesenteric artery thrombosis, and 4 cases of superior mesenteric vein thrombosis. We retrospectively reviewed 8 patients (4 males and 4 females; range, 51-79 years; mean, 62.50 ± 9.67 years) who underwent treatment of acute SMAE using the AcoStream system. The patients had no obvious evidence of intestinal necrosis as shown by peritoneal puncture or computed tomography. Thrombectomy was performed on the superior mesenteric artery (SMA) using an 8F AcoStream thrombus aspiration system (Acotec, China). The demographics, risk factors, therapeutic effect, complications, mortality, and follow-up of the study population were assessed., Results: The technical success rate was 100%. After 1-3 passes (2.38 ± 0.92) and aspiration thrombectomy, complete thrombus removal was achieved in 7 (87.50%) patients. One patient received an adjunctive catheter-directed thrombolysis due to partial thrombus removal. Thrombolysis was conducted for 2 days, resulting in complete resolution of the thrombus. The other 7 patients did not receive adjunctive endovascular intervention due to complete thrombus removal and no residual stenosis. No distal embolization or device-related complications were noted during the procedure. After the procedure, sufficient clinical improvement was seen in 6 patients within 1-2 days. Two patients showed no significant improvement of their symptoms. Laparotomy was performed on day 1 and day 2 after thrombectomy in patients 3 and 7, respectively. Intestinal necrosis was diagnosed operatively and intestinal resection was performed. All patients were discharged 6-15 days (9.50 ± 3.07) after admission without perioperative complication or death. The mean follow-up period was 5.00 ± 3.30 months (range, 1-10 months), and the follow-up rate was 100%. During the follow-up, all patients remained symptom-free. Computed tomography angiography images showed good flow in the trunk and branches of the SMA in all patients., Conclusions: PMT using the AcoStream system is a minimally invasive, safe, and effective technique for acute SMAE. Early application of PMT can achieve immediate revascularization of the SMA and have the potential advantage of avoiding laparotomy or reducing the extension of enterectomy, as it could theoretically restore intestinal perfusion in less time than open revascularization. If the symptoms do not improve after PMT, exploratory laparotomy should be scheduled as soon as possible. Artemisia argyi is an herbaceous plant of the genus Artemisia. Its young and mature leaves are used as food and medicine, respectively. Glandular trichomes (GTs) are distributed on the leaf surface in A. argyi and are generally considered the location of flavonoid biosynthesis and accumulation. However, the mechanism of flavonoid biosynthesis and accumulation in A. argyi remains unclear. In this study, the coregulatory genes involved in flavonoid biosynthesis and trichome development in this species were screened and evaluated, and the biosynthetic pathways for key flavonoids in A. argyi were uncovered. AaMYB1 and AaYABBY1 were screened using weighted gene co-expression network analysis, and both genes were then genetically transformed into Nicotiana tabacum L. cv. K326 (tobacco). Simultaneously, AaYABBY1 was also genetically transformed into Arabidopsis thaliana. The total flavonoid and rutin contents were increased in tobacco plants overexpressing AaMYB1 and AaYABBY1, and the expression levels of genes participating in the flavonoid synthesis pathway, such as PAL, FLS, and F3H, were significantly up-regulated in plants overexpressing these genes. These results indicated that AaMYB1 and AaYABBY1 promote flavonoid biosynthesis in tobacco. Furthermore, compared to that in the wild-type, the trichome density was significantly increased in tobacco and A. thaliana plants overexpressing AaYABBY1. These results confirm that AaYABBY1 might be involved in regulating trichome formation in A. argyi. Background: In the FIGHT study (NCT03694522) bemarituzumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody selective for fibroblast growth factor receptor 2b (FGFR2b), plus mFOLFOX6 showed clinically meaningful efficacy in patients with FGFR2b-positive (2+/3+ membranous staining by immunohistochemistry) locally advanced unresectable/metastatic gastric/gastroesophageal cancer (G/GEJC). A meaningful proportion of patients in FIGHT were enrolled in East Asia, reflecting global epidemiology of G/GEJC., Methods: This subgroup analysis of the global, phase 2, double-blind FIGHT study included all patients enrolled in East Asian sites. Patients were randomized 1:1 to bemarituzumab-mFOLFOX6 (15 mg/kg and one 7.5 mg/kg dose on cycle 1, day 8) or matching placebo-mFOLFOX6. The primary endpoint was investigator-assessed progression-free survival (PFS). Secondary endpoints included overall survival (OS), objective response rate, and safety. Efficacy was evaluated after a minimum follow-up of 24 months., Results: The East Asian subgroup comprised 89 patients (57% of overall study population); 45 were randomized to bemarituzumab-mFOLFOX6 and 44 to placebo-mFOLFOX6. Median PFS (95% confidence interval [CI]) was 12.9 months (8.8-17.9) with bemarituzumab-mFOLFOX6 and 8.2 months (5.6-10.3) with placebo-mFOLFOX6 (HR 0.50, 95% CI 0.29-0.87); median OS (95% CI) was 24.7 months (13.8-33.1) vs 12.9 months (9.3-21.4), respectively (HR 0.56, 95% CI 0.32-0.96). Treatment benefit was more pronounced in patients with FGFR2b-positive G/GEJC in ≥ 10% of tumor cells. Breast cancer (BC), a prevalent and severe malignancy, detrimentally affects women globally. Its prognostic implications are profoundly influenced by gene expression patterns. This study retrieved 509 BCE-associated oncogenes and 1,012 neurotransmitter receptor-related genes from the GSEA and KEGG databases, intersecting to identify 98 relevant genes. Clinical and transcriptomic expression data related to BC were downloaded from the TCGA, and differential genes were identified based on an FDR value <0.05 & |log2FC| ≥ 0.585. Univariate analysis of these genes revealed that high expression of NSF and low expression of HRAS, KIF17, and RPS6KA1 are closely associated with BC survival prognosis. A prognostic model constructed for these four genes demonstrated significant prognostic relevance for BC-TCGA patients (P < 0.001). Subsequently, an immunofunctional analysis of the BC oncogene-neurotransmitter receptor-related gene cluster revealed the involvement of immune cells such as T cells CD8, T cells CD4 memory resting, and Macrophages M2. Further analysis indicated that immune functions were primarily concentrated in APC&#95;co&#95;inhibition, APC&#95;co&#95;stimulation, CCR, and Check-point, among others. Lastly, a prognostic nomogram model was established, and ROC curve analysis revealed that the nomogram is a vital indicator for assessing BC prognosis, with 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year survival rates of 0.981, 0.897, and 0.802, respectively. Being a widely occurring protein post-translational modification, N-glycosylation features unique multi-dimensional structures including sequence and linkage isomers. There have been successful bioinformatics efforts in N-glycan structure identification using N-glycoproteomics data; however, symmetric "mirror" branch isomers and linkage isomers are largely unresolved. Here, we report deep structure-level N-glycan identification using feature-induced structure diagnosis (FISD) integrated with a deep learning model. A neural network model is integrated to conduct the identification of featured N-glycan motifs and boosts the process of structure diagnosis and distinction for linkage isomers. By adopting publicly available N-glycoproteomics datasets of five mouse tissues (17,136 intact N-glycopeptide spectrum matches) and a consideration of 23 motif features, a deep learning model integrated with a convolutional autoencoder and a multilayer perceptron was trained to be capable of predicting N-glycan featured motifs in the MS/MS spectra with previously identified compositions. In the test of the trained model, a prediction accuracy of 0.8 and AUC value of 0.95 were achieved; 5701 previously unresolved N-glycan structures were assigned by matched structure-diagnostic ions; and by using an explainable learning algorithm, two new fragmentation features of m/z = 674.25 and m/z = 835.28 were found to be significant to three N-glycan structure motifs with fucose, NeuAc, and NeuGc, proving the capability of FISD to discover new features in the MS/MS spectra., (© 2024. Twisted monolayer-bilayer graphene (TMBG) has recently emerged as an exciting platform for exploring correlated physics and topological states with rich tunability. Strong light-matter interaction was realized in twisted bilayer graphene, boosting the development of broadband graphene photodetectors from the visible to infrared spectrum with high responsivity. Extending this approach to the case of TMBG will help design advanced quantum nano-optoelectronic devices because of the reduced symmetry of the system. Here, we observe the formation of van Hove singularities (VHSs) in TMBG by monitoring the significant enhancement of the Raman intensity of the G peak and the intensity ratio of G and 2D peaks. The strong interlayer coupling also leads to the appearance of twist-angle-dependent Raman R and R' peaks in TMBG. Furthermore, the constructed graphene photodetectors from 13.5°-TMBG show significantly enhanced photoresponsivity (∼31 folds of monolayer graphene and ∼15 folds of trilayer graphene) when the energy of incident photons matches the interval energy between the two VHSs in the conduction and valence bands. Our findings establish TMBG as a tunable platform for investigating the light-matter interaction and designing high-performance graphene photodetectors with combined high responsivity and high selectivity.

Rational design of bimetallic alloy is an effective way to improve the electrocatalytic activity and stability of Mo-based cathode for ampere-level hydrogen evolution. However, it is still critical to realise desirable syntheses due to the wide reduction potentials between different metal elements and uncontrollable nucleation processes. Herein, we propose a rapid Joule heating method to effectively load RuMo alloy onto MoOx matrix. As-prepared catalyst exhibits excellent stability (2000 h @ 1000 mA cm -2 ) and ultralow overpotential (9 mV, 18 mV and 15 mV in 1 M KOH, 1 M PBS, 0.5 M H 2 SO 4 solution, respectively) at 10 mA cm -2 . Based on first-principle simulations and operando measurements, the impressive electrocatalytic stability and activity are investigated. And the role of rapid Joule heating method is highlighted and discussed in details. The emergence and spread of Acinetobacter baumannii pose a severe threat to public health, highlighting the urgent need for the next generation of therapeutics due to its increasing resistance to existing antibiotics. BfmR, a response regulator modulating virulence and antimicrobial resistance, shows a promising potential as a novel antimicrobial target. Developing BfmR inhibitors may propel a new therapeutic direction for intractable infection of resistant strains. In this study, we conducted a structure-based hierarchical virtual screening pipeline combining molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulation and MM/GBSA calculation to sift Specs chemical library and finally discover three novel potential BfmR inhibitors. The three hits can reduce the MIC of meropenem for the carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAB) strain ZJ06. Similar to the BfmR knockout strain, Cmp-98 was demonstrated to downregulate the expression of K locus genes, indicating it as a BfmR inhibitor. Bacteria underwent harmful morphological changes after treatment with these inhibitors. Molecular dynamics simulations found that all the hits tend to dynamically bind to different positions of the phosphorylation site of BfmR. Wherein we identified a potential inhibitory binding cleft, beside a possible activated binding cleft at the edge of the phosphorylation site. Restraining the ligand binding poses may help exerting inhibitory effects. This study reports a group of new-scaffold BfmR inhibitors, offering new insights for novel antibiotic therapeutics against CRAB.

Considering the indispensable significance and utilities of meta-substituted pyridines in medicinal, chemical as well as materials science, a direct meta-selective C-H functionalization of pyridines is of paramount importance, but such reactions remain limited and highly challenging. In general, established methods for meta C-H functionalization of pyridines rely on the utilization of tailored electrophilic reagents to realize the intrinsic polarity match. Herein, we report a complementary electrochemical methodology; diverse nucleophilic sulfinates allow meta-sulfonylation of pyridines through a redox-neutral dearomatization-rearomatization strategy by a tandem dearomative cycloaddition/hydrogen-evolution electrooxidative C-H sulfonation of the resulting oxazino-pyridines/acid-promoted rearomatization sequence. The Ilizarov technique is one of the most important tools that is currently employed in bone reconstruction surgeries. Its inception dates back to the mid-20th century and involves various bone reconstruction methodologies implemented using a circular external fixator system devised by G. A. Ilizarov. The key advantages of this approach include the generation of viable new bone via distraction osteogenesis, high union rates, and the functional utilization of the limb during the treatment process. The exploration of distraction osteogenesis phenomenon triggered by tensile stress with the Ilizarov device served as a catalyst for progress in bone reconstruction surgery. Subsequently, the original technique has been utilized alongside several adaptations resulting from the introduction of novel fixation tools and methods of their application, such as hexapod external fixators and motorized intramedullary lengthening nails. It is crucial to possess a precise comprehension of the Ilizarov principles of deformity correction in order to effectively utilize this fixation system. Objective: Depressive symptoms are prevalent and detrimental in elderly patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Understanding the factors influencing these symptoms is crucial. This study aims to use machine learning algorithms to identify the contributing factors in this population. Method: The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey database provided the data for this study. The study includes elderly patients who are eligible for diagnostic evaluation for OSA. Logistic regression was used to screen their influencing factors, and random forest (RF), extreme gradient boosting (XGB), artificial neural network (ANN), and support vector machine (SVM) were utilized to 4 algorithms were used to construct depressive symptoms classification models, and the best model performance was selected for feature importance ranking. Influential factors included demographics (age, gender, education, etc.), chronic disease status (diabetes, hypertension, etc.), and laboratory findings (white blood cells, C-reactive protein, cholesterol, etc.). Result: Ultimately, we chose 1538 elderly OSA patients for the study, out of which 528 (34.4%) suffered from depressive symptoms. Logistic regression initially identified 17 influencing factors and then constructed classification models based on those 17 using RF, XGB, ANN, and SVM. We selected the best-performing SVM model [area under the curve (AUC) = 0.746] based on the AUC values of 0.73, 0.735, 0.742, and 0.746 for the 4 models. We ranked the variables in order of importance: General health status, sleep disorders, gender, frequency of urinary incontinence, liver disease, physical activity limitations, education, moisture, eosinophils, erythrocyte distribution width, and hearing loss. Conclusion: Elderly OSA patients experience a high incidence of depressive symptoms, influenced by various objective and subjective factors. The situation is troubling, and healthcare institutions and policymakers must prioritize their mental health. Objective: Our study aimed to investigate the association between maternal pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI), gestational weight gain (GWG), and impaired pelvic floor muscle (PFM) morphology and function during the early postpartum period., Methods: This retrospective cohort study was conducted at Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital from December 2020 to December 2022. A total of 1118 primiparous women with singleton pregnancies who underwent vaginal deliveries and participated in postpartum PFM assessments were included. Maternal pre-pregnancy BMI and GWG were considered as exposures. PFM morphology and function impairment were the primary outcomes. PFM morphology impairment, defined as levator ani muscle avulsion, was assessed using transperineal ultrasound. PFM function impairment, manifested as diminished PFM fiber strength, was assessed through vaginal manometry. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was employed to calculate adjusted odds ratios (aOR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI). Restricted cubic spline models were used to validate and visualize the relationship., Results: Women with lower pre-pregnancy BMI were at an increased risk of levator ani muscle avulsion (aOR = 1.73, 95% CI: 1.10-2.70, P = 0.017), particularly when combined with excessive GWG during pregnancy (aOR = 3.20, 95% CI: 1.15-8.97, P = 0.027). Lower pre-pregnancy BMI was also identified as an independent predictor of PFM weakness (aOR = 1.53, 95% CI: 1.08-2.16, P = 0.017 for type I fiber injuries). Notably, regardless of the avulsion status, both underweight and overweight/obese women faced an elevated risk of reduced PFM strength (aOR = 1.74, 95% CI: 1.17-2.59, P = 0.006 for underweight women with type I fiber injuries; aOR = 1.67, 95% CI: 1.06-2.64, P = 0.027; and aOR = 1.73, 95% CI: 1.09-2.76, P = 0.021 for overweight/obese women with type I and type II fibers injuries, respectively)., Conclusions: Both lower and higher pre-pregnancy BMI, as well as excessive GWG, were strongly associated with PFM impairments. Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Jizhi syrup (JZTJ) is composed of eight medicinal herbs, including Houttuynia cordata, Fagopyrum dibotrys, Ilex chinensis, Ephedra sinica, Aster tataricus, Peucedanum praeruptorum, Citrus aurantium and Glycyrrhiza uralensis. It is mainly used for coughing caused by exogenous wind heat. Symptoms include fever, aversion to cold, chest and diaphragm tightness, cough and sore throat; and acute bronchitis and acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis with the above symptoms., Purpose: This study aimed to preliminary analyse the chemical components in the liposoluble part of JZTJ, evaluate the anti-inflammatory effect of JZTJ by using six animal and cell models and predict the target and mechanism of acute bronchitis prevention and treatment with JZTJ., Methods: The chemical components in the liposoluble fraction of JZTJ (extracted by cyclohexane) were quantitatively analysed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Classic non-specific inflammation models and acute bronchitis models were established to systematically evaluate the anti-inflammatory effect of JZTJ. The anti-inflammatory intensity and characteristics of three doses of JZTJ were comprehensively compared on the basis of principal component analysis method at the cellular and overall animal levels. By using lipopolysaccharides (LPSs) as modelling factors, a RAW264.7 macrophage inflammatory response model and a rat acute bronchitis model were created to study the effect of JZTJ on the in-vitro and - vivo LPS-iNOS-inflammatory mediators' inflammatory signalling pathway to reveal the mechanism of acute bronchitis prevention and treatment by JZTJ at the levels of genes, proteins, and inflammatory mediators., Results: Seventeen alkane and ester compounds were preliminarily qualitatively identified from the lipid soluble fraction of JZTJ: dibutyl phthalate, tetradecane, ridecane, n-hexadecanoic acid, pentadecane, n-decanoic acid, 2,6,10,14,18,22-tetracosahexaene, 2,6,10,15,19,23-hexamethyl-(all-E)-; phenol, 2,2'-methylenebis[6-(1,1-dimethylethyl)-4-methyl-; hexadecane. JZTJ has a significant inhibitory effect on acute non-specific inflammation, specifically inhibiting 'xylene-induced ear swelling in mice', 'acetic acid-induced increased permeability of abdominal capillaries in mice' and 'egg white-induced foot swelling in rats'. The above effects are most evident in high doses, followed by medium doses, whereas low doses have poorer or no effects. JZTJ can prevent and treat acute bronchitis induced by LPS in mice and rats, significantly improve the pathological changes in patchy interstitial and alveolar bleeding with excessive neutrophil infiltration and inhibit the release of inflammatory mediators by LPS-induced RAW264.7 macrophages. Its mechanism of action may be by downregulating the phosphorylation level of p-ERK1/2 protein, thereby inhibiting inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) mRNA, tumour necrosis factor (TNF)-α MRNA and IL-1β. The expression levels of genes, such as mRNA and IL-6 mRNA, thereby reducing iNOS, TNF-α and IL-1β. The expression of proteins in the cytoplasm of lung and bronchial tissue cells reduced the release of downstream inflammatory mediators NO and IL-6., Conclusion: Preliminary analysis of the chemical components in the lipid soluble fraction of JZTJ can lay the foundation for subsequent research on its effective components. Evaluating the anti-inflammatory effect of JZTJ is helpful for further research on its mechanism of action. Background: Anti-interferon-γ autoantibodies (AIGAs) syndrome is susceptible to disseminated opportunistic infections due to increased AIGAs, but its clinical immunological characteristics remain unrecognized., Methods: We conducted a prospective cohort study between January 2021 and December 2023, recruiting patients with opportunistic infections who were categorized into AIGAs-positive and AIGAs-negative groups. Clinical immunological data and outcomes were documented. A subset of AIGAs-positive patients received glucocorticoid treatment, and its effectiveness was evaluated., Results: A total of 238 patients were enrolled, with 135 AIGAs-positive and 103 AIGAs-negative patients. AIGAs-positive patients showed higher rates of multiple pathogen dissemination, shorter progression-free survival (PFS), and increased exacerbation frequency. They also showed elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), globulin (GLB), immunoglobulin (Ig)G, IgE, and IgG4 levels. Among the 70 AIGAs-positive patients monitored for at least six months, three subtypes were identified: high AIGAs titer with immune damage, high AIGAs titer without immune damage, and low AIGAs titer without immune damage. Of the 55 patients followed for 1 year, decreasing AIGAs titer and immune indices (GLB, IgG, IgE, IgG4) were observed. Among the 31 patients with high AIGAs titer and immune damage treated with low-dose glucocorticoids at the stable phase, reductions were observed in immune indices and AIGAs titer in 67.74% of cases., Conclusions: AIGAs-positive patients exhibit infectious and immunological characteristics. Elevated AIGAs, IgG, IgG4, and IgE indicate abnormal immune damages. AIGAs titer generally decrease over time. Stable-phase AIGAs-positive patients can be categorized into three subtypes, with those having high AIGAs titer and increased immune indices potentially benefitting from glucocorticoid treatment.

Objectives: To evaluate the safety of ultrasound-guided thermal ablation (UGTA) for thyroid nodules (TNs) by analysing complications and related risks., Materials and Methods: This retrospective, single-centre study reviewed patients who underwent UGTA (microwave or radiofrequency ablation) between January 2018 and March 2023. The incidence of complications was recorded and assessed during and immediately after ablation,1-3 h later, and at 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to identify risk factors for hoarseness and haemorrhagic complications., Results: We reviewed 9667 cases in this study. Overall, 4494 (46.49%) cases underwent microwave ablation, while 5173 (53.51%) cases underwent radiofrequency ablation. The overall complication rate was 4.43%. The incidence of major complications was 1.94% (haemorrhage, 1.32%; hoarseness, 0.54%; and symptomatic aseptic necrosis, 0.08%). The incidence of minor complications was 2.45%. A large nodule volume, radiofrequency ablation, hyper-enhancing nodules, benign nodules, higher preoperative blood pressure, hyperthyroidism, and higher ablation power were independent risk factors for haemorrhage. Dorsal nodules and a higher ablation power were independent risk factors for hoarseness. All complications were resolved., Conclusion: This study suggests that UGTA is a safe treatment for TNs. Several risk factors for haemorrhage and hoarseness should be considered before performing UGTA. Processing is an indispensable technology in the preparation of Spirulina platensis (S. platensis). The key odorants in liquids, muds, and powders from S. platensis (NM and GZ) were characterized. A total of 90 odorants were identified and 41 odorants were sniffed with the flavor dilution (FD) factors ranging from 1 to 729. Among them, nonanal, decanal, d-limonene, β-cyclocitral, and β-ionone with FD factors ≥1 were detected in S. platensis during the whole processing stages. In addition, heptanal, (E, E)-2,4-nonadienal, trans-4,5-epoxy-(E)-2-decenal, 1-hepten-3-one, isophorone, 3-ethyl-2,5-dimethylpyrazine, and α-ionone exhibited higher odor activity values in powders; β-myrcene, methional, and S-methyl methanethiosulphonate were key odorants in muds; while trans-3-penten-2-ol was key odorant in liquids. Besides, the GZ-mud presented stronger earthy and fishy odor than NM-mud. S. platensis powders have the stronger grassy odor, roasted odor, and marine odor than S. platensis muds. Paper-based relics is an important carrier for recording and preserving information, however, it faces irreversible UV-induced damage, including photocleavage, oxidation, acidification and discoloration, which seriously affects its value and lifespan. Carbon dots (CDs) possess excellent UV absorption and good chemical stability, making them suitable for UV protection. Herein, we propose a high-security and efficient method utilizing CDs films (CDFs) for preventive protection of paper against UV damage. The CDFs with high tunable UV absorbance and minimal absorbance in the visible light range, effectively shield paper from UV radiation while preserving its visual appeal. Moreover, the UV transmittance of the film can be fine-tuned to the content of CDs and can be easily removed from the paper without residue. Artificial accelerated UV aging experiments demonstrate the deceleration of acidification, oxidation, and photocleavage in the protected bamboo paper and Xuan paper. This research paces a new direction for the protection of paper and paper-based relics and artworks with emerging carbon materials, offering customizable protection effects tailored to specific preservation and exhibition requirements. Characterizing the compositional and phenotypic characteristics of tumor-infiltrating B cells (TIBs) is important for advancing our understanding of their role in cancer development. Here, we establish a comprehensive resource of human B cells by integrating single-cell RNA sequencing data of B cells from 649 patients across 19 major cancer types. We demonstrate substantial heterogeneity in their total abundance and subtype composition and observe immunoglobulin G (IgG)-skewness of antibody-secreting cell isotypes. Moreover, we identify stress-response memory B cells and tumor-associated atypical B cells (TAABs), two tumor-enriched subpopulations with prognostic potential, shared in a pan-cancer manner. In particular, TAABs, characterized by a high clonal expansion level and proliferative capacity as well as by close interactions with activated CD4 T cells in tumors, are predictive of immunotherapy response. Herein, we described the rational drug design and synthesis of a series of 5-amino-4-fluoro-1 H -benzo[ d ]imidazole-6-carboxamide derivatives that inhibit MEK and RAF kinases. The detailed screening cascades revealed that 16b was a preferred compound, which might act like a "clamp" to stabilize the MEK/RAF complex, thereby effectively inhibiting MEK1, BRAF, and BRAF V600E with IC 50 values of 28, 3, and 3 nM, respectively. 16b possessed an excellent selectivity over other 312 human-related kinases at 1 μM. In vitro, 16b showed potent antiproliferative activities against MIA PaCa-2 (G12C KRAS), HCT116 (G13D KRAS), and C26 (G12D KRAS) cells with IC 50 values of 0.011, 0.079, and 0.096 μM, respectively. CoIP experiments demonstrated that 16b could induce MEK/RAF complex formation. Most importantly, in the C26 syngeneic colorectal and HCT116 mice xenograft tumor models, 16b demonstrated tumor growth inhibition of 70 and 93%, respectively, suggesting that 16b may be a promising MEK/RAF complex inhibitor and worthy of further development.

This study explores the synergistic effect between the Rh and Pd of bimetallic Rh-Pd/C catalysts for the catalytic hydro-defluorination (HDF) of 4-fluorophenol (4-FP). It was found that 4-FP could not be efficiently hydro-defluorinated over 6% Pd/C and 6% Rh/C due to the inherent properties of Pd and Rh species in the dissociation of H 2 and the activation of C-F bonds. Compared with 6% Pd/C and 6% Rh/C, bimetallic Rh-Pd/C catalysts, especially 1% Rh-5% Pd/C, exhibited much higher catalytic activity in the HDF of 4-FP, suggesting that the synergistic effect between the Rh and Pd of the catalyst was much more positive. Catalyst characterizations (BET, XRD, TEM, and XPS) were introduced to clarify the mechanism for the synergistic effect between the Rh and Pd of the catalyst in the HDF reaction and revealed that it was mainly attributed to the bifunctional mechanism: Pd species were favorable for the dissociation of H 2 , and Rh species were beneficial to the activation of C-F bonds in the HDF reaction. Meanwhile, the interaction between Rh and Pd species enabled Rh and Pd to exhibit a more positive synergistic effect, which promoted the migration of atomic H* from Pd to Rh species and thus enhanced the HDF of 4-FP. Furthermore, 1% Rh-5% Pd/C prepared using 20-40 equiv NaBH 4 exhibited the best performance in the catalytic HDF of 4-FP. Catalysis characterizations suggested that appropriate Rh 3+ /Rh 0 and Pd 2+ /Pd 0 ratios were beneficial to the dissociation of H 2 and the activation of C-F bonds, which caused the more positive synergistic effect between the Rh and Pd of Rh-Pd/C in the HDF reaction. This work offers a valuable strategy for enhancing the performance of catalytic HDF catalysts via promoting synergistic effects.

Due to the large volume of exposed atoms and electrons at the surface of two-dimensional materials, interfacial charge coupling has been proven as an efficient strategy to engineer the electronic structures of two-dimensional materials assembled in van der Waals heterostructures. Recently, heterostructures formed by graphene stacked with CrOCl have demonstrated intriguing quantum states, including a distorted quantum Hall phase in the monolayer graphene and the unconventional correlated insulator in the bilayer graphene. Yet, the understanding of the interlayer charge coupling in the heterostructure remains challenging. Here, we demonstrate clear evidences of efficient hole doping in the interfacial-coupled graphene/CrOCl heterostructure by detailed Raman spectroscopy and electrical transport measurements. The observation of significant blue shifts and stiffness of graphene Raman modes quantitatively determines the concentration of hole injection of about 1.2 × 10 13 cm -2 from CrOCl to graphene, which is highly consistent with the enhanced conductivity of graphene. First-principles calculations based on density functional theory reveal that due to the large work function difference and the electronegativity of Cl atoms in CrOCl, the electrons are efficiently transferred from graphene to CrOCl, leading to hole doping in graphene. Our findings provide clues for understanding the exotic physical properties of graphene/CrOCl heterostructures, paving the way for further engineering of quantum electronic states by efficient interfacial charge coupling in van der Waals heterostructures.

Surveillance for animal plague was conducted in the Marmota himalayana plague focus of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau from 2020 to 2023. A 22.89% positive rate of serum F1 antibody was detected in live-caught marmots, alongside a 43.40% incidence of Yersinia pestis isolation from marmot carcasses. Marmot carcasses infected with plague exhibited a significantly higher spleen-somatic index ( P < 0.05). Twenty-one Y. pestis- specific phages were isolated, among which one Y. pestis lytic phage (AKS2022HT87GU&#95;phi) was isolated from the bone marrow of a marmot carcass (no. AKS2022HT87) and was found to be symbiotic with Y. pestis . Microscopy revealed the coexistence of lysed and non-lysed colonies of Y. pestis AKS2022HT87. Genome-wide analysis showed that certain strains of the Y. pestis AKS2022HT87 carried phage DNA fragments consistent with phage AKS2022HT87GU&#95;phi. The rare symbiotic relationship between a lytic phage and Y. pestis observed in vitro was highlighted in this study, laying the basis for further exploring the relationship between Y. pestis and its bacteriophages.IMPORTANCEBacteriophages and host bacteria commonly coexist in vivo or in soil environments through complex and interdependent microbial interactions. However, recapitulating this symbiotic state remains challenging in vitro due to limited medium nutrients. In this work, the natural symbiosis between Yersinia pestis and specific phages has been discovered in a Marmota himalayana specimen. Introduction: Postpartum period of dairy cattle is an important phase of their life mainly associated with the changes in physiology, rumen function, and energy metabolism. Studies have shown that gut microbial composition undergoes drastic changes during the postpartum period. However, little is known about the temporal variations in digestive tract microbiota in postpartum Tibetan cattle. The aim of this study was to investigate the temporal variations in blood metabolites, ruminal fermentation, and microbial community of oral, rumen, and gut in lactating Tibetan cattle during postpartum., Methods: We collected blood, saliva, rumen fluid, and fecal samples from lactating Tibetan cattle during 1st week (1 W), the 2nd week (2 W), the 1st month (1 M), and the 2nd month (2 M) of the postpartum period. The microbiota of saliva, rumen fluid, and fecal samples were assessed using 16S rRNA sequencing. The rumen volatile fatty acid and blood parameters were also quantified., Results: The content of volatile fatty acids (VFAs) and blood parameters showed opposite tendency to each other and reached to stability at 2 M. Rumen microbiota showed the highest alpha diversity compared to other two sites. At phylum level, the oral cavity was dominated by Proteobacteria, while most dominant phylum in rumen and feces were Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes, respectively. The dominant genera in oral cavity were Moraxella and Bibersteinia, while genera Prevotella 1 and Ruminococcaceae UCG-005 were dominant in rumen and fecal samples, respectively., Discussion: Microbial network analysis revealed that most of the active genera in all networks belonged to phylum Firmicutes, indicating the importance of this phyla during postpartum period of lactating cattle. The functional analysis revealed distinct division of labor among three gastrointestinal sites associated with defense, fatty acid synthesis, and maintaining health of host. As an important fishery resource and endangered species, studying the habitat of Coilia nasus (C. nasus) is highly significant. This study used fishery survey data from southern Zhejiang coastal waters from 2016 to 2020, employing a maximum entropy model (MaxEnt) to map the habitat distribution of C. nasus. Model performance was evaluated using two metrics: the area under the curve (AUC) of the receiver operating characteristic curve for the training and test sets and true skill statistics (TSS). This study aimed to predict the habitat distribution of C. nasus and explore how environmental variables influence habitat suitability. The results indicated that the models for each season had strong predictive performance, with AUC values above 0.8 and TSS values exceeding 0.6, indicating that they could accurately predict the presence of C. nasus. In the study area, C. nasus was primarily found in brackish or marine waters near bays and coastal islands. Among all environmental factors, salinity (S) and bottom temperature (BOT) had the highest correlations with habitat distribution, although these correlations varied across seasons. A general strategy for qualitative screening and quantitative analysis of 403 pesticides in various fruits and vegetables was developed using ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) in conjunction with a Thermo Q Exactive Focus high-resolution mass spectrometer, relying on an executable compound database comprised of the exacted mass of precursor ions, retention times, and fragment ions. Taking advantage of the powerful separation capacity of UHPLC, an Orbitrap analyzer with high sensitivity in full scan mode and elevated mass resolution of product ions in the MS/MS mode, eight pairs of isomers and fifty-seven groups of isobaric compounds were selectively identified. The method was then systematically assessed and validated for eight fruits and vegetables, in terms of screening detection limit (SDL), matrix effects, recovery, and precision over 400 pesticides. The results showed that the SDLs of 68.0-84.4% for the pesticides were less than or equal to 10 μg kg -1 in the representative matrices, recoveries in the range of 60-120% accounting for 48.6-84.4% of all the targets at three lower fortified levels of 5, 20, and 50 μg kg -1 with a precision of less than 20% while the range of overall average recoveries for the majority of the pesticides were from 82.4% to 105.1% in the as-selected matrices with RSDs between 3.9% and 7.7%. Using this method, screening data from a survey of pesticide residues in 68 practical samples across 32 different matrix types provides scientific data for the inspection and supervision of pesticide residue safety of fruits and vegetables.

Introduction: Individual leaves in the image are partly veiled by other leaves, which create shadows on another leaf. To eliminate the interference of soil and leaf shadows on cotton spectra and create reliable monitoring of cotton nitrogen content, one classification method to unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) image pixels is proposed., Methods: In this work, green light (550 nm) is divided into 10 levels to limit soil and leaf shadows (LS) on cotton spectrum. How many shadow has an influence on cotton spectra may be determined by the strong correlation between the vegetation index (VI) and leaf nitrogen content (LNC). Several machine learning methods were utilized to predict LNC using less disturbed VI. R-Square ( R 2 ), root mean square error (RMSE), and mean absolute error (MAE) were used to evaluate the performance of the model., Results: (i) after the spectrum were preprocessed by gaussian filter (GF), SG smooth (SG), and combination of GF and SG (GF&SG), the significant relationship between VI and LNC was greatly improved, so the Standard deviation of datasets was also decreased greatly; (ii) the image pixels were classified twice sequentially. Following the first classification, the influence of soil on vegetation index (VI) decreased. Following secondary classification, the influence of soil and LS to VI can be minimized. The relationship between the VI and LNC had improved significantly; (iii) After classifying the image pixels, the VI of 2-3, 2-4, and 2-5 have a stronger relationship with LNC accordingly. Correlation coefficients ( r ) can reach to 0.5. That optimizes monitoring performance when combined with GF&SG to predict LNC, support vector machine regression (SVMR) has the better performance, R 2 , RMSE, and MAE up to 0.86, 1.01, and 0.71, respectively. Background: Pseudocyst formation is common in many patients with acute pancreatitis during follow-up. Many risk factors have been proposed to be associated with the development of PP, but the predictive factors are still underexplored. The focus of this study was to investigate whether early laboratory indicators could effectively predict the occurrence of PP., Methods: 2811 AP patients hospitalized in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University between November 2008 and September 2020 were retrospectively studied. Univariate and multivariate analyses were used to screen the risk variables. The nomograms of those risk factors were validated and evaluated by logistic analysis., Results: AP patients had a 6.1 % (172/2811) incidence of PP. In a univariate analysis, the development of PP was correlated with serum lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), albumin (ALB), calcium (Ca), hemoglobin (Hb), organ dysfunction, CT severity index (CTSI), etiology, age, etc. Further logistic regression analysis showed that the risk factors were different between hyperlipidemic pancreatitis patients (LDH, ALB and Ca) and non-hyperlipidemic pancreatitis patients (LDH, Hb, ALB and Ca). A nomogram based on the identified risk factors was developed. Our model showed good discrimination ability, with a boostrap - corrected C index of 0.905 (95 % CI = 0.875-0.935), and had well-fitted calibration curves. The area under the curve (AUC) of the nomogram were 0.905 (95 % CI = 0.875-0.935) and 0.933 (95 % CI = 0.890-0.975) in the training and validation groups, respectively. Pipe contaminant detection holds considerable importance within various industries, such as the aviation, maritime, medicine, and other pertinent fields. This capability is beneficial for forecasting equipment potential failures, ascertaining operational situations, timely maintenance, and lifespan prediction. However, the majority of existing methods operate offline, and the detectable parameters online are relatively singular. This constraint hampers real-time on-site detection and comprehensive assessments of equipment status. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a sensing method that integrates an ultrasonic unit and an electromagnetic inductive unit for the real-time detection of diverse contaminants and flow rates within a pipeline. The ultrasonic unit comprises a flexible transducer patch fabricated through micromachining technology, which can not only make installation easier but also focus the sound field. Moreover, the sensing unit incorporates three symmetrical solenoid coils. Through a comprehensive analysis of ultrasonic and induction signals, the proposed method can be used to effectively discriminate magnetic metal particles (e.g., iron), nonmagnetic metal particles (e.g., copper), nonmetallic particles (e.g., ceramics), and bubbles. This inclusive categorization encompasses nearly all types of contaminants that may be present in a pipeline. Furthermore, the fluid velocity can be determined through the ultrasonic Doppler frequency shift. The efficacy of the proposed detection principle has been validated by mathematical models and finite element simulations. Various contaminants with diverse velocities were systematically tested within a 14 mm diameter pipe. Background: The reported outcomes of pediatric dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) have varied across studies. There are few outcome data concerning DCM in Chinese children. Therefore, we conducted a retrospective study to describe clinical features and determine risk factors for poor outcomes in children with DCM., Methods: We enrolled 121 children with DCM in our hospital from 2003 to 2021. General information and laboratory and echocardiographic data were collected and analyzed. Cox regression analysis was performed to determine risk factors for poor outcomes., Results: This study included 121 patients (69 males and 52 females). The median age at diagnosis was 10.8 years, and the follow-up time was 10.0 months. Eighty-two patients (67.8%) exhibited cardiac function classes III-IV at the time of diagnosis. Tachypnea was the most common symptom (78.5%). In echocardiography, the mean left ventricular end-diastolic dimension z score was 7.36 ± 2.73, and the left ventricular ejection fraction z score was -6.58 ± 2.17. The 1-, 2-, and 5-year survival rates were 51.2%, 43.8%, and 32.2%, respectively. Cox analysis revealed that cardiac function classes III-IV (hazard ratio [HR] = 1.801, 95% confidence interval [95% CI] = 1.030-3.149, p = 0.039) and calcium levels (HR = 0.219, 95% CI = 0.084-0.576, p = 0.002) were predictors of poor outcomes in children with DCM., Conclusions: Children with DCM are at high risk of death. Cardiac function class III-IV and calcium levels were related to the prognosis of pediatric DCM patients.

Sushi domain-containing protein 2 (SUSD2, also known as the complement control protein domain) is a representative and vital protein in the SUSD protein family involved in many physiological and pathological processes beyond complement regulation. Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. The complex role of SUSD2 in tumorigenesis and cancer progression has raised increasing concerns. Studies suggest that SUSD2 has different regulatory tendencies among different tumors and exerts its biological effects in a cancer type-specific manner; for instance, it has oncogenic effects on breast cancer, gastric cancer, and glioma and has tumor-suppression effects on lung cancer, bladder cancer, and colon cancer. Moreover, SUSD2 can be regulated by noncoding RNAs, its promoter methylation and other molecules, such as Galectin-1 (Gal-1), tropomyosin alpha-4 chain (TPM4), and p63. The therapeutic implications of targeting SUSD2 have already been preliminarily revealed in some malignancies, including melanoma, colon cancer, and breast cancer. This article reviews the role and regulatory mechanisms of SUSD2 in cancer development, as well as its structure and distribution. This network meta-analysis aims to compare the clinical efficacy of seven non-surgical therapies for peri-implant disease, including laser treatment, photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT), photodynamic therapy (PDT), systemic antibiotics (SA), probiotics, local antimicrobials (LA), and air-powder polishing (APP) combined with mechanical debridement (MD). We conducted searches in four electronic databases, namely PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and The Cochrane Library, to identify randomized controlled trials of non-surgical treatments combined with MD for individuals (aged at least 18 years) diagnosed with peri-implantitis or peri-implant mucositis with a minimum of 3 months follow-up. The outcomes of the study were the reduction in pocket probing depth (PPD) and bleeding on probing (BoP), plaque index (PLI), clinical attachment level (CAL), and marginal bone loss (MBL). We employed a frequency random effects network meta-analysis model to combine the effect sizes of the trials using standardized mean difference (SMD) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Network meta-analyses include network plots, paired comparison forest plots, league tables, funnel plots, surface under the cumulative ranking area (SUCRA) plots, and sensitivity analysis plots. The results showed that, for peri-implantitis, PBMT +MD demonstrated the highest effect in improving PPD (SUCRA = 75.3%), SA +MD showed the highest effect in improving CAL (SUCRA = 87.4%, SMD = 2.20, and 95% CI: 0.38 to 4.02) and MBL (SUCRA = 99.9%, SMD = 3.92, and 95% CI. 2.90 to 4.93), compared to MD alone. For peri-implant mucositis, probiotics +MD demonstrated the highest effect in improving PPD (SUCRA = 100%) and PLI (SUCRA = 83.2%), SA +MD showed the highest effect in improving BoP (SUCRA = 88.1%, SMD = 0.77, and 95% CI: 0.27 to 1.28), compared to MD alone. Despite the ranking established by our study in the treatment of peri-implant disease, decisions should still be made with reference to the latest treatment guidelines. Background: There is an increasing number of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) reported cases among students in Southwest China. However, the data on HIV/sex-related knowledge, attitude toward sex, sexual behaviors, and correlates of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP)-eligible behaviors among college students in this area is still limited. This study aimed to assess the prevalence of HIV/sex-related knowledge, sexual attitudes, sexual behaviors, and factors associated with PrEP-eligible behaviors among college students., Method: An online survey from 2020 to 2021 based on a multistage stratified and cluster sampling method was conducted among college students in Southwest China, and a well-designed questionnaire collected data. Propensity score matching (PSM), logistic, and log-binomial regression were used to identify the determinants of PrEP-eligible behaviors., Result: A total of 108,987 students participated in the survey, and 92,946 provided valid responses. 91.6% (85,145/92,946) had good HIV-related knowledge, while only 26.0% (24,137/92,946) reported awareness of sex-related knowledge. Furthermore, more than half of the participants (64.5%) held negative stances towards engaging in "one-night stand", and 58.9% (617/1,047) reported PrEP-eligible behaviors. Log-binomial regression analysis indicated that unaware of HIV-related knowledge (aPR = 1.66, 95% CI:1.22-2.26, P = 0.001), not discussing about sex with their parent(s) (aPR = 1.16, 95% CI:1.01-1.33, P = 0.021), not receiving sex-related education in school(aPR = 1.24, 95% CI: 1.07-1.45, P = 0.005), not participating in HIV/AIDS prevention activities in the past year (aPR = 1.32, 95%CI:1.09-1.60, P = 0.004), experiencing forced sex (aPR = 2.08, 95% CI: 1.19-3.63, P = 0.010), and having the drug abuse (aPR = 22.21, 95% CI:5.59-88.31, P < 0.001) were significantly associated with increased odds of PrEP-eligible behaviors., Conclusion: College students in Southwest China exhibited suboptimal HIV/sex-related knowledge, received limited sex education, reported conservative attitudes towards casual sex, and significant PrEP-eligible behaviors. These findings suggest that sexually experienced college students who were unaware of HIV-related knowledge, lacked sex education, experienced forced sex, and reported drug abuse were the key individuals for evaluating eligibility for PrEP initiation, and interventions aimed at increasing awareness of HIV/sex-related knowledge, promoting participation in sex education, addressing issues related to forced sex and tackling drug abuse could contribute to reducing the incidence of PrEP-eligible behaviors among college students., (© 2024. Purpose: This study aimed to explore relationship between lifestyle and depressive symptoms and evaluated the mediating effect of menopausal symptoms., Methods: This was a secondary analysis of a survey in Hunan Province, China. We selected 3190 women aged 40 to 55 into final analyses. Menopausal and depressive symptoms were assessed by the Kupperman Menopausal Index and the 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire, respectively. A self-administered questionnaire was used to collect demographic and lifestyle information., Results: The prevalence of depressive symptoms was 19.5%. After adjusting for demographic variables, passive smoking, drinking, and intensity of physical activity were positively associated with depressive symptoms. Frequency of exercise was a protective factor for depressive symptoms (AOR = 0.783, 95%CI: 0.446-0.991). Excess or restricted sleep duration was associated with higher probability of having depressive symptoms (AOR = 1.746, 95% CI: 1.324-2.304). Menopausal symptoms partially mediated the relationship between lifestyle and depressive symptoms., Conclusion: Findings highlighted the importance of menopausal symptoms in the relationship between the lifestyle and depressive symptoms, and provided a possibility that active lifestyle might improve depression symptoms among women at perimenopause through changes in sex hormones., (© 2024. How the sequences of intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs) code for functions is still an enigma. Dynamics, in particular residue-specific dynamics, holds crucial clues. Enormous efforts have been spent to characterize residue-specific dynamics of IDPs, mainly through NMR spin relaxation experiments. Here we present a sequence-based method, SeqDYN, for predicting residue-specific backbone dynamics of IDPs. SeqDYN employs a mathematical model with 21 parameters: one is a correlation length and 20 are the contributions of the amino acids to slow dynamics. Training on a set of 45 IDPs reveals aromatic, Arg, and long-branched aliphatic amino acids as the most active in slow dynamics whereas Gly and short polar amino acids as the least active. SeqDYN predictions not only provide an accurate and insightful characterization of sequence-dependent IDP dynamics but may also serve as indicators in a host of biophysical processes, including the propensities of IDP sequences to undergo phase separation.

In this paper, a smoothing approximation-based adaptive neurodynamic approach is proposed for a nonsmooth resource allocation problem (NRAP) with multiple constraints. The smoothing approximation method is combined with multi-agent systems to avoid the introduction of set-valued subgradient terms, thereby facilitating the practical implementation of the neurodynamic approach. Tertiary lymphoid structures (TLSs) are associated with enhanced immunity in tumors. However, their formation and functions in colorectal cancer liver metastasis (CRLM) remain unclear. Here, we reveal that intra- and peri-tumor mature TLSs (TLS+) are associated with improved clinical outcomes than TLS- tumors. Using single-cell-RNA-sequencing and spatial-enhanced-resolution-omics-sequencing (Stereo-seq), we reveal that TLS+ tumors are enriched with IgG + plasma cells (PCs), while TLS- tumors are characterized with IgA + PCs. By generating TLS-associated PC-derived monoclonal antibodies in vitro, we show that TLS-PCs secrete tumor-targeting antibodies. As the proof-of-concept, we demonstrate the anti-tumor activities of TLS-PC-mAb6 antibody in humanized mouse model of colorectal cancer. We identify a fibroblast lineage secreting CCL19 that facilitates lymphocyte trafficking to TLSs. CCL19 treatment promotes TLS neogenesis and prevents tumor growth in mice.
