Objective: To evaluate the development of pharmaceutical interviews in pharmacies in France, in order to understand the organization implemented, any limitations and the expansion of eligible pathologies., Method: A dematerialized questionnaire was designed and distributed between November 2022 and February 2023 to pharmacists and pharmacy students in France (mainland and overseas) via a link to a Google Form., Results: Ninety-four pharmacists from 8 different regions of France responded to the survey. The 94 responses showed that 56% of pharmacists practiced pharmaceutical interviews. Among pharmacists who practiced interviews, pharmacy owners practiced significantly more interviews than other statuses within the pharmacy (67% vs. 38% P=0.014). No other factor, such as dispensary size or geographical area of practice, had a significant impact on whether or not pharmaceutical interviews were carried out. These talks are often carried out at the patient's request, and 89% of them are accompanied by documents for the patient's attention. For pharmacists who do not carry out interviews, time, staffing and remuneration are the 3 main blocking factors found in both quantitative and verbatim variables. Whether or not pharmacists carry out pharmaceutical interviews, this activity received 87% approval from the 94 respondents, and 84% of them would like to include more chronic disease themes., Conclusion: The survey shows that pharmacists approve of the pharmaceutical interviewing activity, but it also highlights obvious logistical obstacles linked to a lack of resources. Thus, even among pharmacists who carry out pharmaceutical interviews, this activity is still carried out relatively infrequently on a routine basis, and often by the incumbent pharmacist, who takes on the responsibility of carrying out this activity., (Copyright © 2024 Société française de pharmacologie et de thérapeutique. Objectives: Non-conventional medicines are not devoid of toxicity and it is relevant to establish an inventory of the general public's knowledge of essential oils. The objective is to identify the profile of the victims of a poisoning, the ways of administration and the symptoms as well as the incriminated essential oils., Methods: Two surveys, for the general public and health professional, were distributed (January-March 2019). In addition, data from the Angers poison control center for the period 2017-2018 were analyzed and compared with the data from our study., Results: Our surveys gathered 623 and 59 answers. The data of the poison control center of Angers counted 741 intoxications. The precautions for use and contra-indications of essential oils are not well known since 5% of the respondents identified them correctly. Our data show that using a mixture increases the risk of intoxication (P<0.02). The most cited essential oils in case of intoxication are Eucalyptus, Tea tree and Lavender. The symptoms mainly concern a cutaneous application (75%) and remain of short duration and without gravity. Concerning the intoxications referenced to the poison control center in Angers, the same essential oils are involved, the oral route is mostly used (70%) and the symptoms listed for 74% of intoxications concern oropharyngeal, ocular, abdominal and skin pain., Conclusion: The delivery of essential oils is not harmless and the data obtained both through our surveys and the processing of data from the poison control center of Angers show that they must be used with caution., (Copyright © 2022 Académie Nationale de Pharmacie. Introduction: The development of vaccines against SARS-Cov-2 has enabled the deployment of vaccination, particularly through dispensing pharmacists, who are already authorised to administer influenza vaccines in France., Methods: We surveyed pharmacists in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region to assess the current status of SARS-Cov-19 vaccination in the region. A questionnaire was sent to them; the analysis was carried out jointly with the URPS-Pharmacists., Results: 739 pharmacies took part in our survey, and gave us their impressions of the organisation of the anti-COVID-19 vaccination and the information to be transmitted to patients., Conclusions: The commitment of pharmacists to the anti-COVID-19 vaccination testifies to the attachment of pharmacists to their patients, and their privileged place in prevention in France. Improving influenza vaccination coverage has been, and still remains a challenge internationally. There are now many examples where countries have pursued a pharmacist-led influenza vaccination service in order to enhance vaccination coverage of at-risk populations. England, Portugal and the United States are successful examples where their experience implementing this service can now be explored retrospectively and learnt from. This review aims to provide evidence to help overcome barriers to commissioning and implementation of such services in countries new to the experience. Implementation is influenced by differing regulatory frameworks underpinning the provision of pharmacist-led influenza vaccination, methods of remuneration, training, and operating procedures. Practical aspects such as the facilities required, how patient records are maintained and how patients and other healthcare professionals are engaged also have an impact. These examples illustrate how community pharmacists can be trained to deliver influenza vaccinations safely, and coupled with their accessibility and convenience, can provide a complementary service to that already provided by family doctors and nurses to deliver influenza vaccinations for the benefit of patients., (Copyright © 2016 Académie Nationale de Pharmacie. Seasonal influenza is a major cause of excess winter deaths and increased hospital admissions. There is a high level of economic burden associated with the infection. Although vaccination targets have been set to tackle this international issue, many countries struggle to reach these coverage targets for their at-risk populations using traditional delivery methods. Traditional providers include family doctors and nurses; however, pharmacist-led influenza vaccination has become a more commonly utilised aid to support vaccination targets. Community pharmacies are convenient and widely accessible and evaluations consistently demonstrate that patients are satisfied with pharmacist-led vaccinations. Allowing community pharmacists to administer influenza vaccination as an alternative option for delivery helps to increase the coverage rate of vaccination. In addition, commissioning community pharmacists to provide this service has been shown to contribute to achieving targets for those at-risk. Pharmacist-led influenza vaccination services can create value for payors and reduce pressure on health systems. This review aims to demonstrate the success of pharmacy-led influenza vaccinations, and the impact it has had in driving up immunisation rates within other countries. Introduction: The current restructuring of primary healthcare aims toward the creation of coordinated practices, which involves new roles for pharmacists. The objectives of this study were to identify all the French multidisciplinary medical homes and poles (MMHs and MMPs) with pharmacists currently active, and to describe how they are organized and operate., Methods: This study focused on metropolitan MMHs and MMPs, active during the second semester of 2013, which include one or several pharmacists. These centers were identified through information provided by French regional health authorities (Agences régionales de santé, ARS) and the French medical homes medical poles federation (Fédération française des maisons et pôles de santé). Data were collected via an electronic questionnaire., Results: Pharmacists were active in 60 centers in total, namely 35 MMHs and 25 MMPs. These were mostly set up as sociétés interprofessionnelles de soins ambulatoires (SISA, a type of company), with the help of government funding, typically from the ARS, in buildings owned by local government agencies. Pharmacists were systematically invited to attend interprofessional meetings held in the MMHs and MMPs, and multimodal treatment protocols were often in place. Pharmacists had no access to shared clerical services in MMHs, and rarely in MMPs, and their access to medical records was inconsistent in the two types of structures., Conclusion: Pharmacists are currently active in nearly one in four MMHs and MMPs but are still only partially integrated therein., (Copyright © 2016 Académie Nationale de Pharmacie. Introduction: Despite recommendations, asthma remains poorly controlled in many countries. Asthmatic patients see pharmacy staff regularly to obtain medications. The aim of this study was to evaluate the attitude of pharmacists in Burkina Faso about dispensing asthma drugs., Method: A self-administered anonymous questionnaire was used to collect data in a descriptive cross-sectional study related to pharmacists' attitudes in the management of asthma in the city of Ouagadougou (November 2010-June 2011)., Results: The rate of participation of pharmacists in the study was 82.4%. Of the pharmacists surveyed, 70.1% reported having received asthma patients both during acute asthma exacerbations and when stable. Only 9% of pharmacists insisted on a prescription when asthma patients came to the pharmacy without one. A total of 73.6% of pharmacists explained and demonstrated how to use the spray to the patients. Among pharmacists who demonstrated how to use devices, only 6.7% actually checked patients' technique. Inhaler technique demonstration was done verbally in 68.8% of case. Among pharmacists, 34.5% reported a good mastery of inhaler techniques., Conclusion: The techniques for dispensing asthma drugs are not well established among pharmacists and therefore the provision of continuous medical education to pharmacists is important., (Copyright © 2013 SPLF.
