Failure of articular cartilage lubrication and inflammation are the main causes of osteoarthritis (OA), and integrated treatment realizing joint lubrication and anti-inflammation is becoming the most effective treat model. Inspired by low friction of human synovial fluid and adhesive chemical effect of mussels, our work reports a biomimetic lubricating system that realizes long-time lubrication, photothermal responsiveness and anti-inflammation property. To build the system, a dopamine-mediated strategy is developed to controllably graft hyaluronic acid on the surface of metal organic framework. The design constructs a biomimetic core-shell structure that has good dispersity and stability in water with a high drug loading ratio of 99%. Temperature of the solution rapidly increases to 55 °C under near-infrared light, and the hard-soft lubricating system well adheres to wear surfaces, and greatly reduces frictional coefficient by 75% for more than 7200 times without failure. Cell experiments show that the nanosystem enters cells by endocytosis, and releases medication in a sustained manner. The anti-inflammatory outcomes validate that the nanosystem prevents the progression of OA by down-regulating catabolic proteases and pain-related genes and up-regulating genes that are anabolic in cartilage. The mechanical properties of polymer gels devote to emerging devices and machines in fields such as biomedical engineering, flexible bioelectronics, biomimetic actuators, and energy harvesters. Coupling network architectures and interactions has been explored to regulate supportive mechanical characteristics of polymer gels; however, systematic reviews correlating mechanics to interaction forces at the molecular and structural levels remain absent in the field. This review highlights the molecular engineering and structural engineering of polymer gel mechanics and a comprehensive mechanistic understanding of mechanical regulation. Molecular engineering alters molecular architecture and manipulates functional groups/moieties at the molecular level, introducing various interactions and permanent or reversible dynamic bonds as the dissipative energy. Molecular engineering usually uses monomers, cross-linkers, chains, and other additives. Structural engineering utilizes casting methods, solvent phase regulation, mechanochemistry, macromolecule chemical reactions, and biomanufacturing technology to construct and tailor the topological network structures, or heterogeneous modulus compositions. We envision that the perfect combination of molecular and structural engineering may provide a fresh view to extend exciting new perspectives of this burgeoning field. This review also summarizes recent representative applications of polymer gels with excellent mechanical properties. Conclusions and perspectives are also provided from five aspects of concise summary, mechanical mechanism, biofabrication methods, upgraded applications, and synergistic methodology.

Singlet fission (SF), as an effective way to break through the Shockley-Queisser limit, can dramatically improve energy conversion efficiency in solar cell areas. The formation, separation, and relaxation of triplet-pair excitons directly affect the triplet yield, especially triplet-pair separation; thus, how to enhance the triplet-pair separation rate becomes one of the key points to improve SF efficiency; the decay mechanism where the singlet state is converted into two triplet states is significant for the study of the SF mechanism. Herein, we employ ultrafast transient absorption spectroscopy to study the singlet-fission process of nano-amorphous 6, 13-bis(triisopropylsilylethynyl)-Pentacene (TIPS-pentacene) films in a diamond anvil cell (DAC). A kinetics model related to the structural geometric details, as well as an evaluation of the pressure manipulation impacts, is demonstrated based on the experimental results. The results indicate that pressure manipulation enhanced the triplet-pair separation rates of SF-based materials according to their structural micro-environmental improvement when compressed in DAC, while the triplet-exciton transportation lifetime is prolonged. This work shows that pressure may effectively optimize the structural disorder of SF materials, which were found to improve triplet-pair separation efficiency and potentially offer an effective way to further improve SF efficiency.

Due to their inherent lattice mismatch characteristics, 2D heterostructure interfaces are considered ideal for achieving stable and sustained ultralow friction (superlubricity). Despite extensive research, the current understanding of how interface adhesion affects interlayer friction remains limited. This study focused on graphene/MoS 2 and graphene/PdSe 2 heterostructure interfaces, where extremely low friction coefficients of ≈10 -3 are observed. In contrast, the MoS 2 /PdSe 2 heterostructure interfaces exhibit higher friction coefficients, ≈0.02, primarily due to significant interfacial interactions driven by interlayer charge transfer, which is closely related to the ionic nature of 2D material crystals. These findings indicate that the greater the difference in ionicity between the two 2D materials comprising the sliding interfaces is, the lower the interlayer friction, providing key criteria for designing ultralow friction pairs. Moreover, the experimental results demonstrate that interlayer friction in heterostructure systems is closely associated with the material thickness and interface adhesion strength. These experimental findings are supported by molecular dynamics simulations, further validating the observed friction behavior. By integrating experimental observations with simulation analyses, this study reveals the pivotal role of interface adhesion in regulating interlayer friction and offers new insights into understanding and optimizing the frictional performance of layered solid lubricants., (© 2024 The Author(s). Supramolecular adhesion material systems based on small molecules have shown great potential to unite the great contradiction between strong adhesion and reversibility. However, these material systems suffer from low adhesion strength/narrow adhesion span, limited designability, and single interaction due to fewer covalent bond content and action sites in small molecules. Herein, an ultrahigh-strength and large-span reversible adhesive enabled by a branched oligomer controllable self-aggregation strategy is developed. The dense covalent bonds present in the branched oligomers greatly enhance adhesion strength without compromising reversibility. The resulting adhesive exhibits a large-span reversible adhesion of ≈140 times, switching between ultra-strong and tough adhesion strength (5.58 MPa and 5093.92 N m -1 ) and ultralow adhesion (0.04 MPa and 87.656 N m -1 ) with alternating temperature. Moreover, reversible dynamic double cross-linking endows the adhesive with stable reversible adhesion transitions even after 100 cycles. This reversible adhesion property can also be remotely controlled via a voltage of 8 V, with a loading voltage duration of 45 s. Polyprenols (PPs) are compounds with excellent biological activities and are applied in food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries. However, its strong non-polar nature makes it difficult to separate with many saturated impurities (such as saturated fatty acids) extracted together. Complexation extraction is an effective method for separating saturated and polyunsaturated compounds. In this study, mesoporous silica MCM-41 was modified by imidazole-based ionic liquids (IL) followed by coating these MCM-41-supported IL compounds with silver salt to construct π-complexing adsorbent (AgBF 4 /IL•MCM-41) to enrich PPs from Ginkgo biloba leaves (GBL) extract. The mesoporous π-complexing sorbent was characterized by small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), FTIR, and nitrogen adsorption-desorption. The effect of the ratio of silver salt to IL•MCM-41 on the adsorption capacity of polyprenols from GBL was compared, and the dosage of AgBF 4 was determined to be 1.5 mmol/g IL•MCM-41. Adsorption isotherms and kinetics indicate that the π-complexing adsorbent has excellent PPs adsorption performance (153 mg/g at 30 °C) and a fast adsorption rate (the time to reach adsorption equilibrium is 210 s). The PPs were separated using the fixed bed after treatment for only one cycle with AgBF 4 /IL•MCM-41, and the content of PPs in the product was increased from 38.54% to 70.2%, with a recovery rate of 86.6%. As a typical natural photosensitizer, hypocrellin B (HB) offers the advantages of high molar extinction coefficient, high phototoxicity, low dark toxicity, and fast metabolism in vivo. However, the lack of tumor specificity hinders its clinical applications. Herein, we designed and synthesized a glutathione (GSH) responsive photosensitizer based on HB. The 7 - nitro - 2,1,3 - benzoxadiazole (NBD) covalently connected to HB not only served as a fluorescence quenching group but also as a GSH activating group. The photosensitizer HB-NBD showed almost no fluorescence and singlet oxygen generation as a result of the photoinduced electron transfer between HB and NBD. Conductive hydrogels have attracted widespread attention in the fields of biomedicine and health monitoring. However, their practical application is severely hindered by the lengthy and energy-intensive polymerization process and weak mechanical properties. Here, a rapid polymerization method of polyacrylic acid/gelatin double-network organohydrogel is designed by integrating tannic acid (TA) and Ag nanoparticles on conductive MXene nanosheets as catalyst in a binary solvent of water and glycerol, requiring no external energy input. The synergistic effect of TA and Ag NPs maintains the dynamic redox activity of phenol and quinone within the system, enhancing the efficiency of ammonium persulfate to generate radicals, leading to polymerization within 10 min. Also, ternary composite MXene@TA-Ag can act as conductive agents, enhanced fillers, adhesion promoters, and antibacterial agents of organohydrogels, granting them excellent multi-functionality. The organohydrogels exhibit excellent stretchability (1740%) and high tensile strength (184 kPa). The strain sensors based on the organohydrogels exhibit ultrahigh sensitivity (GF = 3.86), low detection limit (0.1%), and excellent stability (>1000 cycles, >7 days). These sensors can monitor the human limb movements, respiratory and vocal cord vibration, as well as various levels of arteries. Rationale and Objectives: This study aimed to develop predictive models based on conventional magnetic resonance imaging (cMRI) and radiomics features for predicting human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) status of breast cancer (BC) and compare their performance., Materials and Methods: A total of 287 patients with invasive BC in our hospital were retrospectively analyzed. All patients underwent preoperative breast MRI consisting of fat-suppressed T2-weighted imaging, axial dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI, and diffusion-weighted imaging sequences. From these sequences, radiomics features were derived. Three distinct models were established utilizing cMRI features, radiomics features, and a comprehensive model that amalgamated both. The predictive capabilities of these models were assessed using the receiver operating characteristic curve analysis. The comparative performance was then determined through the DeLong test and net reclassification improvement (NRI)., Results: In a randomized split, the 287 patients with BC were allotted to either training (234; 46 HER2-zero, 107 HER2-low, 81 HER2-positive) or test (53; 8 HER2-zero, 27 HER2-low, 18 HER2-positive) at an 8:2 ratio. The mean area under the curve (AUCs) for cMRI, radiomics, and comprehensive models predicting HER2 status were 0.705, 0.819, and 0.859 in training set and 0.639, 0.797, and 0.842 in test set, respectively. DeLong's test indicated that the combined model's AUC surpassed the radiomics model significantly (p < 0.05). The exceptional semiconducting properties of two-dimensional (2D) transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) have made them highly promising for the development of future electronic and optoelectronic devices. Extensive studies of TMDs are partly associated with their ability to generate 2D-confined hot carriers above the conduction band edges, enabling potential applications that rely on such transient excited states. In this work, room-temperature spatiotemporal hot carrier dynamics in monolayer MoS 2 is studied by transient absorption microscopy (TAM), featuring an initial ultrafast expansion followed by a rapid negative diffusion, and ultimately a slow long-term expansion of the band edge C-excitons. We provide direct experimental evidence to identify the abnormal negative diffusion process as a spatial contraction of the hot carriers resulting from spatial variation in the hot phonon bottleneck effect due to the Gaussian intensity distribution of the pump laser beam.

The dispersion stability of nanomaterials in lubricants significantly influences tribological performance, yet their addition as lubricant additives often presents challenges in secondary dispersion. Here, we present a straightforward method for in situ preparation of N,S-codoped CDs (N,S-CDs)-based lubricants using heterocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons containing N/S elements in poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) base oil by a directional ultrasound strategy. Two types of N,S-CDs were successfully prepared via the directional ultrasound treatment of PEG with benzothiazole (BTA) and benzothiadiazole (BTH) separately. The resultant N,S-CDs have a uniform distribution of N and S elements and maintain good colloidal dispersion stability in PEG even after 9 months of storage. The N,S-CDs can enter the surface gap of the friction pairs and then induce a tribochemical reaction. Benefiting from the synergistic effect of N and S activating elements, a robust and stable protective film consisting of iron sulfides, iron oxides, carbon nitrides, and amorphous carbonaceous compounds is formed, thus endowing N,S-CDs-based lubricants with improved antiwear and friction-reducing performance. Compared with pure PEG, the coefficient of friction (COF) of the N,S-CDs(BTH)-based lubricant decreased to 0.108 from 0.292, accompanied by a 91.2% reduction in wear volume, and the maximum load carrying capacity increased to 450 from 150 N.

Three long alkyl chain-bearing dibenzotriazole ionic liquids (BTA- R -BTA, R = 8, 12, and 16) were synthesized with high yield (>98%) through a simple and eco-friendly process. Their anticorrosion performance for Q235 carbon steel in 6 M hydrochloride acid was comprehensively evaluated by weight loss tests, electrochemical methods (potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy), and surface analysis techniques. As the length of the alkyl chain increased, the maximum corrosion inhibition efficiency enhanced from 55.02% (for BTA-8-BTA at 1.2 mM) to 97.10% (for BTA-12-BTA at 0.3 mM) and 98.84% (for BTA-16-BTA at 0.3 mM). Density functional theory calculation indicated that the alkyl chain length had little influence on the inhibitors' electronic structures, while molecular dynamics simulations revealed that the thickness, surface coverage, and compactness of adsorption films formed at the metal-electrolyte interface increased with the elongated alkyl chain. Corrosion inhibition efficiency is strongly correlated with the structures of the adsorption film.

Perylenequinonoid natural products are a class of photosensitizers (PSs) that exhibit high reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and excellent activity for Type I/Type II dual photodynamic therapy. However, their limited activity against gram-negative bacteria and poor water solubility significantly restrict their potential in broad-spectrum photodynamic antimicrobial therapy (PDAT). Herein, a general approach to overcome the limitations of perylenequinonoid photosensitizers (PQPSs) in PDAT by utilizing a macrocyclic supramolecular carrier is presented. Specifically, AnBox·4Cl, a water-soluble cationic cyclophane, is identified as a universal macrocyclic host for PQPSs such as elsinochrome C, hypocrellin A, hypocrellin B, and hypericin, forming 1:1 host-guest complexes with high binding constants (≈10 7 m -1 ) in aqueous solutions. Each AnBox·4Cl molecule carries four positive charges that promote strong binding with the membrane of gram-negative bacteria. As a result, the AnBox·4Cl-PQPS complexes can effectively anchor on the surfaces of gram-negative bacteria, while the PQPSs alone cannot. In vitro and in vivo experiments demonstrate that these supramolecular PSs have excellent water solubility and high ROS generation, with broad-spectrum PDAT effect against both gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. Untethered and self-transformable miniature robots are capable of performing reconfigurable deformation and on-demand locomotion, which aid the traversal toward various lumens, and bring revolutionary changes for targeted delivery in gastrointestinal (GI) tract. However, the viscous non-Newtonian liquid environment and plicae gastricae obstacles severely hamper high-precision actuation and payload delivery. Here, we developed a low-friction soft robot by assembly of densely arranged cone structures and grafting of hydrophobic monolayers. The magnetic orientation encoded robot can move in multiple modes, with a substantially reduced drag, terrain adaptability, and improved motion velocity across the non-Newtonian liquids. Notably, the robot stiffness can be reversibly controlled with magnetically induced hardening, enabling on-site scratching and destruction of antibiotic-ineradicable polymeric matrix in biofilms with a low-frequency magnetic field. Furthermore, the magnetocaloric effect can be utilized to eradicate the bacteria by magnetocaloric effect under high-frequency alternating field. To verify the potential applications inside the body, the clinical imaging-guided actuation platforms were developed for vision-based control and delivery of the robots. The dispersion stability of nano-lubricating additives is crucial for the shelf life of lubricant and its practical applications. Nitrogen-sulfur co-doped carbon dots (N,S@CDs) via a one-step hydrothermal method with nitropyrene and thiourea as raw materials are hereby presented. The N and S elements are selectively distributed throughout the entire carbon skeleton with a doping amount of 22.6 at%. The as-synthesized N,S@CDs exhibit excellent dispersion stability in PEG200 and maintain stability for over one year. The experiment results indicate that N,S@CDs significantly improve the anti-wear and friction reduction properties of PEG200, while the friction coefficient is reduced from 0.25 to 0.09 with 1.5 wt% N,S@CDs addition, and the wear volume, depth, and width are reduced by 68%, 52%, and 57%, respectively. The good lubrication performance is attributed to N,S@CDs excellent dispersion stability, enhanced filling and polishing effects, and complex tribochemical reactions caused by heteroatom doping to form a stable protective film on the worn surface. Furthermore, the as-prepared N,S@CDs exhibit intrinsic fluorescence intensity in PEG200 with the photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of 12.5% and remain fluorescent stable during the long-term friction process, therefore the N,S@CDs have a potential application prospect in non-destructive detection of oil leakage via fluorescence labeling method., (© 2024 Wiley‐VCH GmbH.)

Traditional laser-assisted method (top-down synthesis strategy) is applied in the preparation of carbon dots (CDs) by cutting larger carbon materials, which requires harsh conditions, and the size distribution of the CDs is seldom monodisperse. In this work, heteroatom-doped CDs, represented by N,S co-doped CDs (N,S-CDs), can be prepared successfully by pulsed laser irradiation of heterocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons-based small molecule compound solution. The friction coefficient (COF) of base oil PAO decreases from 0.650 to 0.093, and the wear volume reduces by 92.0% accompanied by 1 wt.% N,S-CDs addition, while the load-bearing capacity is improved from 100 to 950 N. The excellent lubrication performance is mainly attributed to the formation of a robust tribofilm via a tribochemical reaction between N,S-CDs and friction pairs, and the N,S-CDs can play a mending effect and polishing effect for worn surfaces. Furthermore, the lubricant containing heteroatom doped CDs are capable of being prepared in situ via pulsed laser irradiation of heterocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in base oil, which can avoid the redispersed problem of nano-additive in base oil to maintain long-term dispersion, with COF of 0.103 and low wear volume ≈1.99 × 10 5 µm 3 (76.9% reduction) even after standing for 9 months., (© 2024 Wiley‐VCH GmbH.)

Singlet oxygen ( 1 O 2 ), as a fundamental hallmark in photodynamic therapy (PDT), enables ground-breaking clinical treatment in ablating tumors and killing germs. However, accurate in vivo monitoring of 1 O 2 remains a significant challenge in probe design, with primary difficulties arising from inherent photo-induced side reactions with poor selectivity. Herein, we report a generalizable zwitterionic strategy for ultra-stable near-infrared (NIR) chemiluminescent probes that ensure a highly specific [2 + 2] cycloaddition between fragile electron-rich enolether units and 1 O 2 in both cellular and dynamic in vivo domains. Innovatively, zwitterionic chemiluminescence (CL) probes undergo a conversion into an inert ketone excited state with an extremely short lifetime through conical intersection (CI), thereby affording sufficient photostability and suppressing undesired photoreactions. Remarkably, compared with the well-known commercial 1 O 2 probe SOSG, the zwitterionic probe QMI exhibited an ultra-high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR, over 40-fold). Of particular significance is that the zwitterionic CL probes demonstrate excellent selectivity, high sensitivity, and outstanding photostability, thereby making a breakthrough in real-time tracking of the FDA-approved 5-ALA-mediated in vivo PDT process in living mice. Hydrogels are ideal for antifouling materials due to their high hydrophilicity and low adhesion properties. Herein, poly(ionic liquid) hydrogels integrated with zwitterionic copolymer-functionalized gallium-based liquid metal (PMPC-GLM) microgels were successfully prepared by a one-pot reaction. Poly(ionic liquid) hydrogels (IL-Gel) were obtained by chemical cross-linking the copolymer of ionic liquid, acrylic acid, and acrylamide, and the introduction of ionic liquid (IL) significantly increased the cross-linking density; this approach consequently enhanced the mechanical and antiswelling properties of the hydrogels. The swelling ratio of IL-Gel decreased eight times compared to the original hydrogels. PMPC-GLM microgels were prepared through grafting the zwitterionic polymer PMPC onto the GLM nanodroplet surface, which exhibited efficient antifouling performance attributed to the bactericidal effect of Ga 3+ and the antibacterial effect of the zwitterionic polymer layer PMPC. Based on the synergistic effect of PMPC-GLM microgels and IL, the composite hydrogels PMPC-GLM@IL-Gel not only exhibited excellent mechanical and antiswelling properties but also showed outstanding antibacterial and antifouling properties. Consequently, PMPC-GLM@IL-Gel hydrogels achieved inhibition rates of over 90% against bacteria and more than 85% against microalgae.

Vertical van der Waals heterostructures composed of graphene (Gr) and transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) have created a fascinating platform for exploring optical and electronic properties in the two-dimensional limit. Numerous studies have focused on Gr/TMDs heterostructures to elucidate the underlying mechanisms of charge-energy transfer, quasiparticle formation, and relaxation following optical excitation. Nevertheless, a comprehensive understanding of interfacial charge separation and subsequent dynamics in graphene-based heterostructures remains elusive. Here, we have investigated the carrier dynamics of Gr-MoS 2 heterostructures (including Gr/MoS 2 and MoS 2 /Gr stacking sequences) grown on a fused silica substrate under varying photoexcitation energies by comprehensive ultrafast means, including time-resolved terahertz (THz) spectroscopy, THz emission spectroscopy, and transient absorption spectroscopy. Our findings highlight the impact of the substrate electric field on the efficiency of modulating the interfacial charge transfer (CT). Specifically, the optical excitation in Gr/MoS 2 generates thermal electron injection from the graphene layer into the MoS 2 layer with photon energy well below A-exciton of MoS 2 , whereas the interfacial CT in the MoS 2 /Gr is blocked by the electric field of the substrate. In turn, photoexcitation of the A exciton above leads to hole transfer from MoS 2 to graphene, which occurs for both Gr-MoS 2 heterostructures with opposite stacking orders, resulting in the opposite orientations of the interfacial photocurrent, as directly demonstrated by the out-of-phase THz emission. Moreover, we demonstrate that the recombination time of interfacial exciton is approximately ∼18 ps, whereas the defect-assisted interfacial recombination occurs on a time scale of ∼ns. This study provides valuable insights into the interplay between interfacial CT, substrate effects, and defect engineering in Gr-TMDs heterostructures, thereby facilitating the development of next-generation optoelectronic devices.

Primary central nervous system (PCNS) extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type (ENKTCL), is an exceedingly rare tumor. To the best of our knowledge, only 27 cases and only one reported aberrant CD20 expression have been documented in the literature. Here we present a second case of PCNS ENKTCL with aberrant CD20 expression in a 43-year-old immunocompetent Chinese female. The patient presented with tremors, weakness in the right upper limb, and a slow reaction. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed multiple brain lesions. A histological examination revealed a diffuse distribution of intermediate-sized pleomorphic lymphocytes with angiocentric growth. The tumor cells expressed CD2, CD3, CD56, T-cell intracellular antigen-1, granzyme B, and Epstein-Barr virus-encoded RNAs (EBERs), with additional partial and weak CD20 and CD30 expression. Despite a confirmatory pathological diagnosis, the patient refused treatment and was discharged, ultimately dying from the disease. In the literature review, the clinical, immunohistochemical, EBERs, treatment, and prognostic features of PCNS ENKTCL were summarized. Although PCNS ENKTCT is extremely rare, it does occur and should always be included in differential diagnoses. CD20 expression should be evaluated routinely with relevant markers. For the first time, a novel donor-acceptor structured COF with excellent photothermal conversion and mono-dispersity in various oils without any further modification is reported; it realized responsive friction reduction, excellent antiwear and long-time lubrication.

The singlet fission process involves the conversion of one singlet excited state into two triplet states, which has significant potential for enhancing the energy utilization efficiency of solar cells. Carotenoid, a typical π conjugated chromophore, exhibits specific aggregate morphologies known to display singlet fission behavior. In this study, we investigate the singlet fission process in lycopene H-aggregates using femtosecond stimulated Raman spectroscopy aided by quantum chemical calculation. The experimental results reveal two reaction pathways that effectively relax the S2 (11Bu+) state populations in lycopene H-aggregates: a monomer-like singlet excited state relaxation pathway through S2 (11Bu+) → 11Bu- → S1 (21Ag-) and a dominant sequential singlet fission reaction pathway involving the S2 (11Bu+) state, followed by S* state, a triplet pair state [1(TT)], eventually leading to a long lifetime triplet state T1. Importantly, the presence of both anionic and cationic fingerprint Raman peaks in the S* state is indicative of a substantial charge-transfer character., (© 2024 Author(s). A new method based on a digital twin is proposed for fault diagnosis, in order to compensate for the shortcomings of the existing methods for fault diagnosis modeling, including the single fault type, low similarity, and poor visual effect of state monitoring. First, a fault diagnosis test platform is established to analyze faults under constant and variable speed conditions. Then, the obtained data are integrated into the Unity3D platform to realize online diagnosis and updated with real-time working status data. Finally, an industrial test of the digital twin model is conducted, allowing for its comparison with other advanced methods in order to verify its accuracy and application feasibility. It was found that the accuracy of the proposed method for the entire reducer was 99.5%, higher than that of other methods based on individual components (e.g., 93.5% for bearings, 96.3% for gear shafts, and 92.6% for shells).

Although stimuli-responsive microemulsions (MEMs) consisting of water, oil and surfactants have found extensive potential applications in industrial fields, a responsive MEM exhibiting either macroscale superlubricity or two friction states where its coefficient of friction (CoF) can be switched by more than one order of magnitude has not yet been reported. Moreover, although traditional liquid superlubricants can provide ultralow friction and wear, effective control over the friction between two contacting surfaces is crucial for both achieving accurate control of the operation of an instrument and fabricating smart devices. Here we create a thermo- and magneto-responsive MEM capable of providing superlubrication for metallic materials in a broad temperature range from -30 to 20 °C using n -hexane, water, surfactant DDACe ((C 12 H 25 ) 2 N + (CH 3 ) 2 [CeCl 4 ] - ) and ethylene glycol. The MEM can abruptly and dramatically switch its CoF by approximately 25 fold based on a thermally reversible MEM-emulsion (EM) transition. Its anti-freezing performance allows it to provide effective lubrication even when the surrounding temperature attains as low as -60 °C. Together with its facile preparation, ultrahigh colloidal stability and magnetically controlled migration, such a novel smart MEM is envisioned to find widespread applications in materials science.

Background: The high-definition standard (HD-standard) scan mode has been proven to display stents better than the standard (STND) scan mode but with more image noise. Deep learning image reconstruction (DLIR) is capable of reducing image noise. This study examined the impact of HD-standard scan mode with DLIR algorithms on stent and coronary artery image quality in coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) via a comparison with conventional STND scan mode and adaptive statistical iterative reconstruction-Veo (ASIR-V) algorithms., Methods: The data of 121 patients who underwent HD-standard mode scans (group A: N=47, with coronary stent) or STND mode scans (group B: N=74, without coronary stent) were retrospectively collected. All images were reconstructed with ASIR-V at a level of 50% (ASIR-V50%) and a level of 80% (ASIR-V80%) and with DLIR at medium (DLIR-M) and high (DLIR-H) levels. The noise, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR), artifact index (AI), and in-stent diameter were measured as objective evaluation parameters. Subjective assessment involved a 5-point scale for overall image quality, image noise, stent appearance, stent artifacts, vascular sharpness, and diagnostic confidence. Diagnostic confidence was evaluated based on the presence or absence of significant stenosis (≥50% lumen reduction). Both subjective and objective evaluations were conducted by two radiologists independently, with kappa and intraclass correlation statistics being used to test the interobserver agreement., Results: There were 76 evaluable stents in group A, and the DLIR-H algorithm significantly outperformed other algorithms, demonstrating the lowest noise (41.6±7.1/41.3±7.2) and AI (32.4±8.9/31.2±10.1), the highest SNR (14.6±3.5/15.0±3.5) and CNR (13.6±3.8/13.9±3.8), and the largest in-stent diameter (2.18±0.61/2.19±0.61) in representing true stent diameter (all P values <0.01), as well as the highest score in each subjective evaluation parameter. In group B, a total of 296 coronary arteries were evaluated, and the DLIR-H algorithm provided the best objective image quality, with statistically superior noise, SNR, and CNR compared with the other algorithms (all P values <0.05). Traditional high strength engineering alloys suffer from serious surface brittleness and inferior wear performance when servicing under sliding contact at cryogenic temperature. Here, we report that the recently emerging CoCrNi multi-principal element alloy defies this trend and presents dramatically enhanced wear resistance when temperature decreases from 273 to 153 K, surpassing those of cryogenic austenitic steels. The temperature-dependent structure characteristics and deformation mechanisms influencing the cryogenic wear resistance of CoCrNi are clarified through microscopic observation and atomistic simulation. It is found that sliding-induced subsurface structures show distinct scenarios at different deformation temperatures. At cryogenic condition, significant grain refinement and a deep plastic zone give rise to an extended microstructural gradient below the surface, which can accommodate massive sliding deformation, in direct contrast to the strain localization and delamination at 273 K. Meanwhile, the temperature-dependent cryogenic deformation mechanisms (stacking fault networks and phase transformation) also provide additional strengthening and toughening of the subsurface material. Herein, the novel core-shell organo-inorganic hybrid carbon nanospheres with encapsulated ultrafine bimetal nanocrystals were successfully prepared by a one-pot domino drive synthesis combined with postcarbonization. The excellent properties of the metals such as high strength and thermal conductivity are retained, and the poor dispersion of the metal in the oil could be improved by encapsulating the metal in organic-inorganic hybrid carbon nanospheres. The vanadium and wolframium nanocrystals embedded in nitrogen-doped carbon nanospheres (V/W@NCNs) manifested remarkable oil dispersity on account of the lipophilic organic phase of the carbon shell. It is worth noting that the as-obtained V/W@NCNs display better tribological properties compared with the base oil, such as a higher extreme pressure of 1250 N, a lower friction coefficient of about 0.09, and a significant reduction in wear volume of 91.5%, which are attributed to the robust protective film that was formed on the surface of the friction pair through mechanical deposition and physical and tribochemical reaction during the friction process.

Due to the mutual repulsion between their hydrophilic surface terminations and the high surface energy facilitating their random restacking, 2D MXene nanosheets usually cannot self-assemble into 3D macroscopic gels with various applications in the absence of proper linking agents. In this work, a rapid spontaneous gelation of Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene with a very low dispersion concentration of 0.5 mg mL -1 into multifunctional architectures under moderate centrifugation is illustrated. The as-prepared MXene gels exhibit reconfigurable internal structures and tunable rheological, tribological, electrochemical, infrared-emissive and photothermal-conversion properties based on the pH-induced changes in the surface chemistry of Ti 3 C 2 T x nanosheets. By adopting a gel with optimized pH value, high lubrication, exceptional specific capacitances (~ 635 and ~ 408 F g -1 at 5 and 100 mV s -1 , respectively), long-term capacitance retention (~ 96.7% after 10,000 cycles) and high-precision screen- or extrusion-printing into different high-resolution anticounterfeiting patterns can be achieved, thus displaying extensive potential applications in the fields of semi-solid lubrication, controllable devices, supercapacitors, information encryption and infrared camouflaging., (© 2024. Frequent oil spills have significant implications for the preservation of ecological balance. However, conventional superhydrophobic materials are limited to organic solvent separation, lacking the ability to undergo thermal conversion. In response to these challenges, photothermal materials have emerged as a promising, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective solution. These materials utilize solar energy as a constant power source to effectively reduce the viscosity of crude oil without the need for additional energy input. This work presents the self-assembly of titanium nitride/polydopamine (TiN/PDA) nanoparticles using hydrolytic methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS) on the polyurethane (PU) sponge and subsequently dip-coats this sponge with polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). The TiN nanoparticles act as a photothermal medium, while the PDA coating exhibits a photothermal synergistic effect on TiN nanoparticles. Additionally, the PDA coating demonstrates strong adhesion on the PU sponge through chemical bonding with MTMS, as confirmed by density functional theory (DFT). Furthermore, the superhydrophobic sponges process exceptional mechanical or chemical stability in harsh environments, thanks to the dual protective mechanisms provided by MTMS and PDMS. Particularly important, the excellent photothermal conversion efficiency of this material results in a maximum temperature of 99.4 °C being achieved within 3 min and a stable heating performance of over 99.0 °C across 10 cycles under a standard sunlight intensity. Anti-wear (AW) additives and friction modifiers (FMs) and their interactions in lubricants are critical to tribological performance. This research investigates the compatibility and synergism of three oil-soluble alkylamine-phosphate ionic liquids with friction modifiers, organomolybdenum compounds. Three proton-based ionic liquids (PILs) were synthesized using a simple, low-cost, and unadulterated procedure as well as the chain lengths of the PILs affected the effectiveness of friction reduction and anti-wear. For example, the effect of a short-chain PIL alone as an additive on friction and wear behavior was not significant, whereas a long-chain PIL was more effective. In addition, PILs appeared to be able to coexist with organic molybdenum compounds and worked synergistically with dialkyl dithiophosphate oxygen molybdenum (MoDDP) to produce a sustained low coefficient of boundary friction (the coefficient of friction approaching 0.042). We proposed a three-stage tribochemical process to explain this interaction of PILs + MoDDP with contact surfaces to form physically adsorbed friction-reducing films and chemically reactive wear-protective films. This study reveals the compatibility and synergistic effects of two common lubricant components, which can be used to guide lubricant development in the future.

Hydrogels are a promising new class of antifouling materials. But their utility is constrained by low mechanical strength and unsatisfactory antifouling performance over the long term. Herein, we successfully prepared zwitterionic polymer PEIS cross-linked gallium-based liquid metal microgels-based (PEIS-Gel@PMPC-GLM) hydrogels via UV-curing and amidation reaction. The as-prepared hydrogels showed preferable mechanical properties and superior hydrophilicity to the original hydrogels. The PEIS-Gel@PMPC-GLM hydrogels could prevent the adhesion of more than 90 % of microalgae and nearly 100 % of bacteria in a short-term antifouling test. PEIS-Gel@PMPC-GLM hydrogels also performed exceptionally well in the high concentration antibacterial test and the long-term antifouling test (remove more than 90 % bacteria and 80 % microalgae). In addition to releasing a high concentration of gallium ions, as shown by the ICP-OES test, PEIS-Gel@PMPC-GLM hydrogels also exhibitedexcellent lubrication performance, as demonstrated by the friction test (coefficient of friction as low as 0.023). Therefore, the antifouling effect of gallium ions combined with the strong hydration ability of the surfaces endowed the hydrogels remarkable antibacterial and antifouling properties. Lignocellulosic nanofibril (LCNF) is indispensable in numerous potential applications because of its unsurpassed quintessential characteristics. While it still remains a challenge to assemble LCNF in a facile and environmental economy-first manner. In this work, a simple and green one-step synthetic approach was reported to prepare a series of LCNF-containing versatile hydrogels using deep eutectic solvent (DES). In particular, the LCNF5% hydrogel (namely LCNF5%-gel) in this work perfectly integrated superior stretchability (∼643 %), and displayed a dramatically improved anti-swelling ability (25 %) compared to the control sample (neat DES hydrogel, 2252 %). Simultaneously, the LCNF5% hydrogel presented underwater adhesiveness and outstanding long-term low-temperature resistance (stable at -25 °C for a month). In this work, dopamine n-butenylamide (DBA) modified GLM nanodroplets were prepared via directional ultrasound of bulk liquid metal in ethanol aqueous solution as well as DBA self-assembly, followed by grafting with urea-based gelators via radical polymerization to obtain GLM-based supramolecular gelators (Gelator@GLM). The grafting gelators can impart their good compatibility between the GLM nanodroplets and the base oil, so that the Gelator@GLM nanodroplets can be dispersed in the base oil uniformly and stably for more than 3 weeks. Meanwhile, the tribological properties of Gelator@GLM nanodroplets was significantly enhanced, with a reduction of coefficient of friction (COF) and the wear volume of 41.18% and 92.13%, respectively, when compared with the base oil. Furthermore, Gelator@GLM additives exhibited stable lubrication performance even under variable temperature and frequency conditions. In this study, size-regulated MOFs (MZ) with high MBT loading were successfully synthesized by combining mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT), zinc salt, and 2-methylimidazole (2-MI). Subsequently, the MZ structure was utilized to encapsulate tannic acid-modified gallium-based liquid metal (GLM-TA), thereby acquiring a novel heterogeneous nanocomposite (GLM-TA@MZ). The results revealed that the as-prepared GLM-TA@MZ shows good antiwear and friction-reducing performance as an oil-based lubricant additive, the average friction coefficient was decreased to 0.091, and a wear volume was reduced to 0.95 × 10 4 μm 3 , which corresponds to a decrease of 52.3 and 97.2% as compared to base oil PAO. The excellent tribological properties of GLM-TA@MZ can be attributed to physical adsorption on the friction pair, followed by tribochemical reactions. As a result, a thick friction protection film (thickness of about 100 nm) containing Ga, Zn, and S elements was formed, which effectively reduced the contact area between the friction pairs, resulting in improved tribological performance. This study provides insights into the design of MOF-based nanocomposites for lubricating applications.

Light serves as the energy source for plants as well as a signal for growth and development during their whole life cycle. Seedling de-etiolation is the most dramatic manifestation of light-regulated plant development processes, as massive reprogramming of the plant transcriptome occurs at this time. Although several studies have reported about organ-specific development and expression induced by light, a systematic analysis of cell-type-specific differentiation and the associated transcriptional regulation is still lacking. Here we obtained single-cell transcriptional atlases for etiolated, de-etiolating and light-grown Arabidopsis thaliana seedlings. Informative cells from shoot and root tissues were grouped into 48 different cell clusters and finely annotated using multiple markers. With the determination of comprehensive developmental trajectories, we demonstrate light modulation of cell fate determination during guard cell specialization and vasculature development. Comparison of expression atlases between wild type and the pifq mutant indicates that phytochrome-interacting factors (PIFs) are involved in distinct developmental processes in endodermal and stomatal lineage cells via controlling cell-type-specific expression of target genes. These results provide information concerning the light signalling networks at the cell-type resolution, improving our understanding of how light regulates plant development at the cell-type and genome-wide levels. Developing nanoplatforms integrating superior fluorescence imaging ability in second near-infrared (NIR-II) window and tumor microenvironment responsive multi-modal therapy holds great potential for real-time feedback of therapeutic efficacy and optimizing tumor inhibition. Herein, we developed a pH-sensitive pyrrolopyrrole aza-BODIPY-based amphiphilic molecule (PTG), which has a balanced NIR-II fluorescence brightness and photothermal effect. PTG is further co-assembled with a vascular disrupting agent (known as DMXAA) to prepare PTDG nanoparticles for combined anti-vascular/photothermal therapy and real-time monitoring of the tumor vascular disruption. Each PTG molecule has an active PT-3 core which is linked to two PEG chains via pH-sensitive ester bonds. The cleavage of ester bonds in the acidic tumor environment would tricker releases of DMXAA for anti-vascular therapy and further assemble PT-3 cores into micrometer particles for long term monitoring of the tumor progression. Furthermore, benefiting from the high brightness in the NIR-II region (119.61 M -1  cm -1 ) and long blood circulation time (t 1/2  = 235.6 min) of PTDG nanoparticles, the tumor vascular disrupting process can be in situ visualized in real time during treatment. The efficiency of photodynamic therapy (PDT) is related to the subcellular localization of photosensitizers (PSs) because organelles are associated with many fundamental life-sustaining activities. In this work, we synthesized a PS (CN) based on curcumin (CUR) and obtained enhanced PDT efficiency by simultaneously targeting lipid droplets (LDs) and the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). Compared with CUR, CN with a D-π-A-π-D structure possessed stronger intramolecular charge transfer features, resulting in longer absorption and emission wavelengths. In cell imaging experiments of CN using a confocal laser scanning microscope, a bright green emission in LDs and a weak orange emission in the ER were simultaneously observed due to its sensitivity to polarity. Surprisingly, CN with low singlet oxygen yields (0.13) exhibited an excellent photodynamic effect. Further experimental results showed that the phototoxicity of CN resulted in apoptosis by destroying the ER and ferroptosis by oxidizing polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) in LDs. This work paves the way for developing more effective photosensitizers with superior dual-targeting specificity.

Scope: The unstructured region of Ara h 2, referred to as epitope 3, contains a repeated motif, DYPSh (h = hydroxyproline) that is important for IgE binding., Methods and Results: IgE binding assays to 20mer and shorter peptides of epitope 3, defines a 16mer core sequence containing one copy of the DPYSh motif, DEDSYERDPYShSQDP. This study performs alanine scanning of this and a related 12mer mimotope, LLDPYAhRAWTK. IgE binding, using a pool of 10 sera and with individual sera, is greatly reduced when alanine is substituted for aspartate at position 8 (D8; p < 0.01), tyrosine at position 10 (Y10; p < 0.01), and hydroxyproline at position 12 (h12; p < 0.001). IgE binding to alanine-substituted peptides of a mimotope containing the DPY&#95;h motif confirm the critical importance of Y (p < 0.01) and h (p < 0.01), but not D. Molecular modeling of the core and mimotope suggests an h-dependent conformational basis for the recognition of these sequences by polyclonal IgE., Conclusions: IgE from pooled sera and individual sera differentially bound amino acids throughout the sequences of Epitope 3 and its mimotope, with Y10 and h12 being most important for all sera. Pyroptosis is increasingly considered a new weathervane in cancer immune therapy. However, triggering specific pyroptotic tumor cell death while preserving normal cells still remains a major challenge. Herein, a brand-new pyroptosis inducer, copper-bacteriochlorin nanosheet (Cu-TBB), is designed. The synthesized Cu-TBB can be activated to an "on" state in the tumor microenvironment with glutathione (GSH) overexpression, leading to the release of Cu + and TBB, respectively. Intriguingly, the released Cu + can drive cascade reactions to produce O 2 -• and highly toxic ·OH in cells. Additionally, the released TBB can also generate O 2 -• and 1 O 2 upon 750 nm laser irradiation. Encouragingly, both Cu + -driven cascade reactions and photodynamic therapy pathways result in potent pyroptosis along with dendritic cell maturation and T cell priming, thus simultaneously eliminating the primary tumors and inhibiting the distant tumor growth and metastases. By collecting water in the air, it is an important way to solve the problem of water shortage in arid and semi-arid areas. Improving the efficiency of fog harvesting is still a great challenge to be overcome. The use of 3D structure is an excellent strategy, here, a Multiple-biomimetic 3D hydrophilic and superhydrophobic fog harvester with a hump-valley structure was prepared by the combination of thermal processing and spraying. Inspired by biological water collection in nature, a 3D porous sponge surface with hydrophilic valley and superhydrophobic hump was obtained by two-step treatment. This surface structure showed excellent fog harvesting performance, which was 185 % higher than the original sponge. This structure accelerates the capture, transfer and transport of droplets during the fog harvesting process and greatly improves the efficiency of fog harvest. The results show that the chemical gradient and structural gradient actuation we constructed on the melamine sponge surface can effectively improve the fog collection efficiency. A surface with a linear hump-valley mixed wettability pattern is designed, and it is proved that fog collection efficiency can be effectively improved at the droplet capture and transfer stage and transport stage respectively. Lipid droplets (LDs) are crucial organelles used to store lipids and participate in lipid metabolism in cells. The abnormal aggregation and polarity change of LDs are associated with the occurrence of diseases, such as steatosis. Herein, the polarity-sensitive probe TBPCPP with a donor-acceptor-π-acceptor (D-A-π-A) structure was designed and synthesized. The TBPCPP has a large Stokes shift (∼220 nm), excellent photostability, high LD targeting, and considerable two-photon absorption (TPA) cross-section (∼226 GM), enabling deep two-photon imaging (∼360 μm). In addition, the fluorescence lifetime of TBPCPP decreases linearly with increasing solvent polarity. Therefore, with the assistance of two-photon fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (TP-FLIM), TBPCPP has successfully achieved not only the visualization of polarity changes caused by LD accumulation in HepG-2 cells but also lipid-specific imaging and visualization of different polarities in lipid-rich regions in zebrafish for the first time. Furthermore, TP-FLIM revealed that the polarity gradually decreases during steatosis in HepG-2 cells, which provided new insights into the diagnosis of steatosis.

As a flexible artificial material, the conductive hydrogel has broad application prospects in flexible wearable electronics, soft robotics, and biomedical monitoring. However, traditional hydrogels still face many challenges, such as long-term stability, availability in extreme environments, and long-lasting adhesion to the skin surface under sweaty or humid conditions. To circumvent the above issues, one kind of ionic conductive hydrogel was prepared by a simple one-pot method that dissolved chitosan (CS), 2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propanesulfonic acid (AMPS), tannic acid (TA), and 2-methoxy-ethyl acrylate (MEA) into dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO)/H 2 O solvent. The resulting hydrogel showed excellent tensile properties (1440%), extreme environmental tolerance (-40-60 °C), adhesion (72 KPa at porcine skin), ionic conductivity (0.87 S m -1 ), and high-efficiency antibacterial property. Furthermore, the produced organohydrogel strain sensor exhibited high strain sensitivity (GF = 4.07), excellent signal sensing capabilities (human joint movement, microexpression, and sound signals), and long-term cyclic stability (400 cycles). Looking beyond, this work provides a simple and promising strategy for using hydrogel sensors in extreme environments for e-skin, health monitoring, and wearable electronic devices.

Recently, photodynamic therapy (PDT) based on the generation of cytotoxic reactive oxygen species (ROS) has drawn great attention in tumor treatment. However, the hypoxia tumor microenvironment (TME) inhibits the generation efficacy of ROS, and the high glutathione (GSH) level in TME could neutralize the generated ROS, both of which strongly reduce the therapeutic efficiency of PDT. In this work, we first constructed the porphyrinic metal-organic framework PCN-224. Then Au nanoparticles were decorated on the PCN-224 to obtain the PCN-224@Au. The decorated Au nanoparticles could not only produce O 2 through the decomposition of H 2 O 2 in tumor sites for enhancing the generation of 1 O 2 in PDT but also deplete glutathione through the strong interactions between Au and sulfhydryl groups on glutathione to weaken the antioxidant ability of tumor cells, thus amplifying the 1 O 2 damage to cancer cells. The in vitro and in vivo experiments totally exhibited that the as-prepared PCN-224@Au nanoreactor can be used as an oxidative stress amplifier for enhanced PDT, which provides a promising candidate to conquer the limitation of intratumor hypoxia and high GSH level on PDT of cancer.

Most of present works of osteoarthritis (OA) therapy are focusing on reducing friction and improving drug loading capacity, while little attention is paid to realizing long-time lubrication and on-demand drug release. In this study, inspired by snowboards with good solid-liquid interface lubrication, a fluorinated graphene based nanosystem with dual functions of long-time lubrication and thermal-responsive drug release was constructed for OA synergetic therapy. An aminated polyethylene glycol bridging strategy was developed to enable covalent grafting of hyaluronic acid on fluorinated graphene. This design not only greatly increased the nanosystem's biocompatibility, but also reduced the coefficient of friction (COF) by 83.3 % compared to H 2 O. The nanosystem showed long-time and steady aqueous lubrication behavior even after more than 24,000 times of friction tests, and a low COF of 0.13 was obtained with over 90% wear volume reduction. Diclofenac sodium was controllably loaded and sustained drug release was tuned by near-infrared light. Moreover, anti-inflammation results showed that the nanosystem had good protective effect on inhibiting OA deterioration, which could up-regulate cartilage anabolic genes of Col2α and aggrecan while down-regulating catabolic proteases genes of TAC1 and MMP1. As a class of highly dynamic organelles, lipid droplets (LDs) are involved in numerous physiological functions, and the changes in polarity of LDs are closely related to a variety of diseases. In this work, we developed two polarity-sensitive fluorescent probes (CC-CH and CC-Cl) based on curcumin analogs. CC-CH and CC-Cl with a donor-acceptor-donor (D-A-D) structure exhibited the property of intramolecular charge transfer (ICT); thus, their fluorescence emissions were significantly attenuated with increasing ambient polarity. Cell experiments indicated that CC-CH and CC-Cl showed excellent photostability, a low cytotoxicity, and a superior targeting ability regarding LDs. After treatment with oleic acid (OA) and methyl-β-cyclodextrin (M-β-CD), the polarity changes of LDs in living cells could be visualized by using CC-CH and CC-Cl. In addition, CC-CH and CC-Cl could monitor polarity changes of LDs in different pathological processes, including inflammatory responses, nutrient deprivation, and H 2 O 2 -induced oxidative stress. Therefore, CC-CH and CC-Cl are promising potential fluorescent probes for tracking intracellular LD polarity changes.

The suboptimal carrier dynamics at the heterointerface between the perovskite and charge transport layer severely limit further performance enhancement of the state-of-the-art perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Herein, we completely map charge carrier extraction and recombination kinetics over a broad time range at buried electron-selective heterointerfaces via ultrafast transient technologies. It is revealed that the heterointerfaces carefully contain the electronic processes of free charge generation in perovskite within ∼2.8 ps, relaxation process of trap-state induced electron capturing less than ∼10.0 ps, electron extraction from perovskite to SnO 2 within ∼194 ps, trap-assisted recombination within ∼2047 ps, and recombination between back-injected electrons and remaining holes within ∼8.4 ns. Moreover, we further demonstrate that the inserted poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) thin layer can effectively enhance the electron extraction from perovskite to SnO 2 , block the undesired electron back injection, and significantly suppress the nonradiative recombination, contributing to the improved device parameters of photovoltage and fill factor. This work sheds light on charge-transfer limitations at the perovskite buried heterointerface and provides an effective guide of ideal heterointerface design for promoting charge transfer and improving PSC performance.

This paper demonstrates the hybridization of copolymer microgel with drug-loaded metal-organic frameworks nanoparticles that can achieve excellent aqueous lubricating performance and anti-inflammatory effect for synergistic treatment of osteoarthritis (OA). Poly(ethylene glycol)-graft-poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PEG-g-PNIPAm) microgel layer is grown on the MIL-101(Cr) surface via one-pot soap-free emulsion polymerization method. The lower critical solution temperature of the MIL-101(Cr)@PEG-g-PNIPAm hybrid is raised significantly by incorporating PEG chains into the PNIPAm microgel matrix, which greatly enhances the high-temperature aqueous dispersion stability. The hybrid microgel demonstrated reversibly thermo-sensitive swelling-collapsing behavior to modulate the optical properties and hydrodynamic size. Using as aqueous lubricating additives, the hybrid reduces over 64% and 97% in friction coefficient and wear volume. Also, the hybrid supports desirable temperature-controlled lubrication modulation due to their reversible thermo-responsive behavior, which is benefit to joint lubrication of OA. After encapsulating anti-inflammatory diclofenac sodium (DS), the DS-MIL-101(Cr)@PEG-g-PNIPAm shows thermo-responsive drug release in aqueous media, which can improve the drug-delivery efficiency. By co-culturing the DS-loaded hybrid with human normal chondrocytes, we demonstrate good biocompatibility and anti-inflammatory effect on the chondrocytes with inflammation by regulating the expression of OA-related genes and proteins. Background: Ginkgo biloba leaves contain beneficial flavonoids, bilobalide (BB), and ginkgolides. However, the toxic ginkgolic acid (GA) limit its application. In this study, various traditional processing methods were used to prepare G. biloba leaf tea (GBLT), including white tea, black tea, dark tea, green tea, and freeze-dried as control, followed by investigations of their effects on quality, antioxidant capacity, bioactive components, and cytotoxicity of the tea products., Results: Results showed that different processing methods significantly impact the tea products' quality indexes and the principal component analysis (PCA) and hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) corroborated it. White tea had the highest total sugar (TS) and GA content and the most potent cytotoxicity on HepG2 cells. However, TS and GA content and the cytotoxicity of GBLT markedly decreased during fermentation and fixation. Moreover, white tea possessed higher total phenolic content (TPC), total flavonoid content (TFC), and more vigorous antioxidant activities than green tea, black tea, and dark tea. Terpene trilactones value was stable, but different catechins contents fluctuated according to the manufacturing process of different GBLTs. Among the four GBLTs, dark tea combining fixation and fermentation had the lowest GA content and cytotoxicity, less bioactive components reduction, appropriate quality, and stronger flavor., Conclusion: These findings demonstrate that fixation and fermentation help reduce GAs during the manufacturing of GBLT. The development of photosensitizers (PSs) with subcellular targeting capability has raised interest for photodynamic therapy (PDT) research. In this work, two coumarin-based photosensitizers (C-S-2 and C-S-3) were designed and synthesized via expanding their π-conjugation, introducing strong electron-donor and acceptor groups, and adopting sulfur substitution strategy. These sulfured-coumarins exhibited near-infrared emission (greater than 650 nm), lipid droplet-targeting ability and obvious photocytotoxicity under laser irradiation. Progesterone is essential in females to maintain a regular menstrual cycle and pregnancy. The luteinizing hormone (LH) surge induces the luteinization of granulosa cells and thecal cells to form the corpus luteum, which is responsible for progesterone synthesis. However, the specific mechanism of how hCG, the analog of LH, regulates progesterone synthesis has yet to be fully discovered. In this study, we found that progesterone level was increased in adult wild-type pregnant mice 2 and 7 days post-coitum, along with a decrease in let-7 expression compared with the estrus stage. Besides, the let-7 expression was negatively correlated with progesterone level in post-delivery day 23 wild-type female mice after being injected with PMSG and hCG. Then, using let-7 transgenic mice and a human granulosa cell line, we found that overexpression of let-7 antagonized progesterone level via targeting p27 Kip1 and p21 Cip1 and steroidogenic acute regulatory protein (StAR) expression, which is a rate-limiting enzyme in progesterone synthesis. Furthermore, hCG suppressed let-7 expression by stimulating the MAPK pathway.
