Microalgal-bacterial granular sludge (MBGS) could offer a sustainable alternative to traditional aerobic methods in brewery wastewater (BWW) treatment. This study compared MBGS with conventional activated sludge (AS) in treating real BWW and highlighted its advantages and challenges. MBGS achieved comparable chemical oxygen demand removal efficiency (93%) compared to AS (89%). Additionally, MBGS exhibited higher phosphate removal capabilities than AS. Extra nitrogen was added to influent to balance C/N ratio of BWW. MBGS was robust in handling C/N ratio fluctuations with an 82% total nitrogen removal efficiency. Metagenomic analysis further indicated that most of the genes involved in carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus metabolism were up-regulated in MBGS compared to AS. Despite changes in the microbial community and settling ability due to high starch and sugar content in BWW, MBGS demonstrated high efficiency and sustainability. Background and Objective: The prevalence of 12-hour shift work is increasing in various occupations. Shift work has been linked to circadian rhythm disruption, which may lead to hormonal changes and metabolic disorders, including alterations in glucose, lipid, and purine metabolism. Despite this, there is limited research on the potential connection between work shifts and abnormal serum uric acid (SUA) levels. Furthermore, the factors that contribute to abnormal SUA levels in shift workers are not well-understood. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the SUA levels of shift workers employed in an aircraft maintenance company, investigate the potential association between shift work and SUA levels, and explore the factors that may influence abnormal SUA levels in shift workers., Methods: A total of 2263 male workers from an aircraft maintenance company were included in this study using the cluster sampling method. The workers were divided into two groups based on their working shifts: night shift (N = 1047, 46.27%) and day working (N = 1216, 53.73%). A survey was conducted between April 1st and June 30th, 2022 to gather information on work, lifestyle, physical examination results, and other relevant factors. The survey included a self-designed demographic information questionnaire to collect data on workers' characteristics, medical history, years of employment, smoking and drinking habits, and main lifestyle behaviors. The workers' SUA levels were measured using uricase colorimetry. One-way ANOVA was used to compare the difference in the abnormal detection rate of SUA between the two groups, and multi-factor logistic regression analysis was used to identify the factors that influence abnormal SUA levels., Results: The study indicated that 48.9% of night shift workers and 43.8% in the regular day workers had abnormal SUA levels, with a significant difference between the two groups (χ 2  = 6.125, P = 0.013). Factors such as circadian rhythm type, shift work, age, the taste of diet, type of diet, smoking, overweight or obesity based on body mass index (BMI), concentration of urine creatinine (CREA), total cholesterol, triglyceride, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol were found to be correlated with SUA abnormalities (P < 0.05). The risk of developing SUA abnormalities was found to be higher in individuals with an intermittent (OR = 1.34, 95% CI: 0.83-2.12, P < 0.05) or evening circadian rhythm type (OR = 1.45, 95% CI: 0.86-2.43, P > 0.05) compared to those with a morning type. Additionally, factors such as night shift work, a high-sodium diet, smoking, a diet high in meat and low in vegetables, being overweight or obese, and higher levels of CREA were also found to increase the risk of developing SUA abnormalities. The study also revealed a significant dose-response relationship between BMI and abnormal uric acid levels. After controlling for other factors, the risk of developing SUA abnormalities was found to be 1.18 times higher in the night shift work group than in the day work group (OR = 1.18, 95% CI:1.02-1.34, P = 0.01)., Conclusion: Shift work has been linked to a higher risk of developing SUA abnormalities, and there are several factors that may contribute to this risk. Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a common hematological malignancy with overall poor prognosis. Exploring novel targets is urgent and necessary to improve the clinical outcome of relapsed and refractory (RR) AML patients. Through clinical specimens, animal models and cell-level studies, we explored the specific mechanism of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A synthase 1 (HMGCS1) in AML and the mechanism of targeting HMGCS1 to attenuate cell proliferation, increase chemotherapy sensitivity and improve the occurrence and development of AML. Here, we reveal that HMGCS1 is overexpressed in RR patients and negatively related to overall survival (OS). Knocking out HMGCS1 in AML cells attenuated cell proliferation and increased chemotherapy sensitivity, while stable overexpression of HMGCS1 had the opposite effects. Mechanistically, we identified that knockout of HMGCS1 suppressed mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway activity, while overexpression of HMGCS1 could remarkably enhance the pathway. U0126, a MEK1 inhibitor, offset the effects of HMGCS1 overexpression, indicating that HMGCS1 promotes RR AML through the MAPK pathway. Further, we verified that hymeglusin, a specific inhibitor of HMGCS1, decreases cell growth both in AML cell lines and primary bone marrow cells of AML patients. Furthermore, combination of hymeglusin and the common chemotherapeutic drug cytarabine and adriamycin (ADR) had synergistic toxic effects on AML cells. Objective: We conducted a community-based cohort study to predict the 3-year occurrence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) among population aged ≥60 years., Method: Participants were selected from two communities through randomized cluster sampling in Jiading District of Shanghai, China. The two communities were randomly divided into a development cohort ( n  = 12012) and a validation cohort ( n  = 6248) with a 3-year follow-up. Logistic regression analysis was used to determine the independent predictors. A nomogram was established to predict the occurrence of CKD within 3 years. The area under the curve (AUC), the calibration curve and decision curve analysis (DCA) curve were used to evaluate the model., Result: At baseline, participants in development cohort and validation cohort were with the mean age of 68.24 ± 5.87 and 67.68 ± 5.26 years old, respectively. During 3 years, 1516 (12.6%) and 544 (8.9%) new cases developed CKD in the development and validation cohorts, respectively. Nine variables (age, systolic blood pressure, body mass index, exercise, previous hypertension, triglycerides, fasting plasma glucose, glycated hemoglobin and serum creatinine) were included in the prediction model. The AUC value was 0.742 [95% confidence interval (CI), 0.728-0.756] in the development cohort and 0.881(95%CI, 0.867-0.895) in the validation cohort, respectively. The calibration curves and DCA curves demonstrate an effective predictive model., Conclusion: Our nomogram model is a simple, reasonable and reliable tool for predicting the risk of 3-year CKD in community-dwelling elderly people, which is helpful for timely intervention and reducing the incidence of CKD.

Visual simultaneous localization and mapping (VSLAM) enhances the navigation of autonomous agents in unfamiliar environments by progressively constructing maps and estimating poses. However, conventional VSLAM pipelines often exhibited degraded performance in dynamic environments featuring mobile objects. Recent research in deep learning led to notable progress in semantic segmentation, which involves assigning semantic labels to image pixels. The integration of semantic segmentation into VSLAM can effectively differentiate between static and dynamic elements in intricate scenes. This paper provided a comprehensive comparative review on leveraging semantic segmentation to improve major components of VSLAM, including visual odometry, loop closure detection, and environmental mapping. Key principles and methods for both traditional VSLAM and deep semantic segmentation were introduced. This paper presented an overview and comparative analysis of the technical implementations of semantic integration across various modules of the VSLAM pipeline. Furthermore, it examined the features and potential use cases associated with the fusion of VSLAM and semantics. It was found that the existing VSLAM model continued to face challenges related to computational complexity. Promising future research directions were identified, including efficient model design, multimodal fusion, online adaptation, dynamic scene reconstruction, and end-to-end joint optimization. This review shed light on the emerging paradigm of semantic VSLAM and how deep learning-enabled semantic reasoning could unlock new capabilities for autonomous intelligent systems to operate reliably in the real world.

Hydrogen sulfide (H 2 S) is a typical odour compound mainly causing respiratory and central nervous system symptoms. However, the immunotoxicity of inhaled H 2 S and the underlying mechanisms remain largely unknown. In this study, a low-dose inhalation exposure to H 2 S was arranged to observe inflammatory response and immunotoxicity in lung tissue of rats. Low concentrations of H 2 S exposure affected the immune level of pulmonary tissue and peripheral blood. Significant pathological changes in lung tissue in the exposure group were observed. At low concentration, H 2 S not only induced the upregulation of AQP-4 and MMP-9 expression but also stimulated immune responses, initiating various anti-inflammatory and inflammatory factors, altering tissue homeostatic environments. The TNF and chemokine signaling pathway played an important role which can promote the deterioration of pulmonary inflammatory processes and lead to lung injury and fibrosis. Excessive immune response causes an inflammatory effect and blood-gas barrier damage. Intelligent compaction (IC) has emerged as a breakthrough technology that utilizes advanced sensing, data transmission, and control systems to optimize asphalt pavement compaction quality and efficiency. However, accurate assessment of compaction status remains challenging under real construction conditions. This paper reviewed recent progress and applications of smart sensors and machine learning (ML) to address existing limitations in IC. The principles and components of various advanced sensors deployed in IC systems were introduced, including SmartRock, fiber Bragg grating, and integrated circuit piezoelectric acceleration sensors. Case studies on utilizing these sensors for particle behavior monitoring, strain measurement, and impact data collection were reviewed. Meanwhile, common ML algorithms including regression, classification, clustering, and artificial neural networks were discussed. Practical examples of applying ML to estimate mechanical properties, evaluate overall compaction quality, and predict soil firmness through supervised and unsupervised models were examined. Results indicated smart sensors have enhanced compaction monitoring capabilities but require robustness improvements. ML provides a data-driven approach to complement traditional empirical methods but necessitates extensive field validation. Potential integration with digital construction technologies such as building information modeling and augmented reality was also explored. In conclusion, leveraging emerging sensing and artificial intelligence presents opportunities to optimize the IC process and address key challenges. However, cooperation across disciplines will be vital to test and refine technologies under real-world conditions. This study serves to advance understanding and highlight priority areas for future research toward the realization of IC's full potential.

Short-chain Perfluorinated compounds (PFCs), used as substitutes for highly toxic long-chain PFCs, are increasingly entering the aquatic environment. However, the toxicity of short-chain PFCs in the environment is still controversial. This study investigated the effects of short-chain perfluorobutanesulfonic acid (PFBS) at different concentrations (2.5, 6, 14.4, 36, and 90 mg/L) on M. aeruginosa growth under 12-day exposure and explored the molecular mechanism of toxicity using transcriptomics. The results showed that M. aeruginosa exhibited hormetic effects after exposure to PFBS. Low PFBS concentrations stimulated algal growth, whereas high PFBS concentrations inhibited it, and this inhibitory effect became progressively more pronounced with increasing PFBS exposure concentrations. Transcriptomics showed that PFBS promoted the pathways of photosynthesis, glycolysis, energy metabolism and peptidoglycan synthesis, providing the energy required for cell growth and maintaining cellular morphology. PFBS, on the other hand, caused growth inhibition in algae mainly through oxidative stress, streptomycin synthesis, and genetic damage. Objective: To evaluate whether using a cocktail of intercostal nerve blocks (TINB) during thoracoscopic surgery results in better clinical outcomes than patient-controlled analgesia (PCIA)., Methods: Patients in two medical groups undergoing video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) for pulmonary nodules in West China Hospital of Sichuan University were collected consecutively between March 2022 and December 2022. The groups were divided into two subgroups based on their analgesic program, which were TINB group and PCIA group. The primary outcome was the visual analogue scale (VAS) of the two groups at different stage after surgery and after discharge. Any analgesic related adverse events (ARAEs) were also recorded., Results: A total of 230 patients who underwent VATS were enrolled, in which 113 patients (49.1%) received a cocktail TINB after surgery, and 117 patients (50.9%) received a PCIA. After PSM, 62 patients in each group were selected. The difference of resting VAS (RVAS) and active VAS (AVAS) at different stage during hospitalization was only related to the change of period (p < 0.05, p < 0.05), and the two groups showed no significant differences in RVAS or AVAS during hospitalization (p = 0.271, p = 0.915). However, the rates of dizziness (4.84% vs 25.81%, p = 0.002), nausea and vomiting (0 vs 22.58%, p < 0.05), fatigue (14.52% vs 34.87%, p = 0.012), and insomnia (0 vs 58.06%, p < 0.05) in TINB group were lower than that in PCIA group. Besides, AVAS and RVAS at 7, 14, and 30 days after discharge in TINB group were both significantly lower than that in PCIA group (p < 0.05, p < 0.05)., Conclusion: Cocktail TINB provided better analgesia after discharge and reduced the incidence of ARAEs in patients undergoing VATS., Competing Interests: Graphical Abstract was created using the BioRender.com. Tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) have been recognized as crucial agents for treating various tumors, and one of their key targets is the intracellular site of the vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR). While TKIs have demonstrated their effectiveness in solid tumor patients and increased life expectancy, they can also lead to adverse cardiovascular effects including hypertension, thromboembolism, cardiac ischemia, and left ventricular dysfunction. Among the TKIs, sorafenib was the first approved agent and it exerts anti-tumor effects on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and renal cell carcinoma (RCC) by inhibiting angiogenesis and tumor cell proliferation through targeting VEGFR and RAF. Unfortunately, the adverse cardiovascular effects caused by sorafenib not only affect solid tumor patients but also limit its application in curing other diseases. This review explores the mechanisms underlying sorafenib-induced cardiovascular adverse effects, including endothelial dysfunction, mitochondrial dysfunction, endoplasmic reticulum stress, dysregulated autophagy, and ferroptosis. It also discusses potential treatment strategies, such as antioxidants and renin-angiotensin system inhibitors, and highlights the association between sorafenib-induced hypertension and treatment efficacy in cancer patients. Furthermore, emerging research suggests a link between sorafenib-induced glycolysis, drug resistance, and cardiovascular toxicity, necessitating further investigation. Background: Carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) clinical isolations have rapidly increased in pediatric patients. To investigate a possible health care-associated infections of CRKP in a tertiary pediatric hospital, the circulating clones and carbapenem-resistant pattern between CRKP and carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAB) isolates were compared to classify their epidemiological characteristics. The results will help to identify the epidemic pattern of the CRKP transmission in the hospital., Methods: Ninety-six CRKP and forty-eight CRAB isolates were collected in Kunming Children's Hospital from 2019 through 2022. These isolates were genotyped using repetitive extragenic palindromic-PCR (REP-PCR). Carbapenemase phenotypic and genetic characterization were investigated using a disk diffusion test and singleplex PCR, respectively. In addition, these characteristics of the two pathogens were compared., Results: The rates of CRKP and CRAB ranged from 15.8% to 37.0% at the hospital. Forty-nine and sixteen REP genotypes were identified among the 96 and 48 CRKP and CRAB isolates tested, respectively. The CRKP isolates showed more genetic diversity than the CRAB isolates. Of the 96 CRKP isolates, 69 (72%) produced Class B carbapenemases. However, all 48 CRAB isolates produced Class D carbapenemase or extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBL) combined with the downregulation of membrane pore proteins. Furthermore, the carbapenemase genes bla KPC , bla IMP , and bla NDM were detected in CRKP isolates. However, CRAB isolates were all positive for the bla VIM , bla OXA-23 , and bla OXA-51 genes., Conclusions: These CRKP isolates exhibited different biological and genetic characteristics with dynamic changes, suggesting widespread communities. Background: The molecular mechanisms underlying window of implantation (WOI) displacement in patients with recurrent implantation failure (RIF) remain unclear. This study aims to explore the transcriptomic signatures of endometrium with normal and displaced WOIs and to identify the causes of endometrial receptivity (ER) abnormalities and WOI displacement in RIF patients., Methods: In this study, 40 RIF patients were recruited and underwent personalized embryo transfer (pET) guided by the predicted results of endometrial receptivity diagnosis (ERD) model. Transcriptome analysis of endometrium from patients with clinical pregnancies after pET was performed to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) associated with WOI displacement. Gene expression data from HRT and natural cycle endometrium were compared to identify specific gene expression patterns of ER-related genes during WOI., Results: The ERD results indicated that 67.5% of RIF patients (27/40) were non-receptive in the conventional WOI (P+5) of the HRT cycle. The clinical pregnancy rate in RIF patients improved to 65% (26/40) after ERD-guided pET, indicating the effectiveness of transcriptome-based WOI prediction. Among the 26 patients with clinical pregnancy, the gene expression profiles of P+5 endometrium from advanced (n=6), normal (n=10) and delayed (n=10) WOI groups were significantly different from each other. Furthermore, 10 DEGs identified among P+5 endometrium of 3 groups were involved in immunomodulation, transmembrane transport and tissue regeneration, which could accurately classify the endometrium with different WOIs. Additionally, a large number of ER-related genes showed significant correlation and similar gene expression patterns in P+3, P+5, and P+7 endometrium from HRT cycles and LH+5, LH+7, and LH+9 endometrium from natural cycles., Conclusion: Our study shows that ER-related genes share similar gene expression patterns during WOI in both natural and HRT cycles, and their aberrant expression is associated with WOI displacements. The occurrence of microplastics (MPs) within aquatic ecosystems attracts a major environmental concern. It was demonstrated MPs could cause various ecotoxicological effects on microalgae. However, existing data on the effects of MPs on microalgae showed great variability among studies. Here, we performed a meta-analysis of the latest studies on the effects of MPs on photosynthesis and oxidative stress in microalgae. A total of 835 biological endpoints were investigated from 55 studies extracted, and 37 % of them were significantly affected by MPs. In this study, the impact of MPs against microalgae was concentration-dependent and size-dependent, and microalgae were more susceptible to MPs stress in freshwater than marine. Additionally, we summarized the biological functions of microalgae that are primarily affected by MPs. Under MPs exposure, the content of chlorophyll a (Chl-a) was reduced and electron transfer in the photosynthetic system was hindered, causing electron accumulation and oxidative stress damage, which may also affect biological processes such as energy production, carbon fixation, lipid metabolism, and nucleic acid metabolism. BMP and activin membrane-bound inhibitor (BAMBI) is a transmembrane glycoprotein, known as a pseudo-receptor for TGFβ, as, while its extracellular domain is similar to that of type I TGFβ receptors, its intracellular structure is shorter and lacks a serine/threonine phosphokinase signaling motif. BAMBI can regulate numerous biological phenomena, including glucose and lipid metabolism, inflammatory responses, and cell proliferation and differentiation. Furthermore, abnormal expression of BAMBI at the mRNA and protein levels contributes to various human pathologies, including obesity and cancer. In the present review, the structure of BAMBI is briefly introduced and its associated signaling pathways and physiological functions are described. Understanding of BAMBI structure and function may contribute to knowledge regarding the occurrence of diseases, including obesity and diabetes, among others. Evidences showed the link between allergy and depression, while the relationships of depression with allergy-related outcomes is insufficient. The objective of this study is to evaluate and compare the relationship of depression with allergy-related outcomes assessed using two different outcome indicators, in a population-based study. A cross-sectional study was performed of 1094 participants in the 2005-2006 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). The self-reported allergic symptoms of allergic rhinitis (AR) status and immunoglobulin E (IgE) were used to evaluate the allergy-related outcomes. The depression disorder was defined as the ≥ 10 points on the Patient Health Questionnaire-9. Logistic and linear regression models were performed to illustrate the associations of depression and allergy-related outcomes. The prevalence of AR and depression was 34.2% and 6.8%, respectively. The odds of depression were 8.6% higher in participants with AR patients compared those without AR [odds ratio (OR) = 1.739, 95% confidence interval (CI): (1.034, 2.933)], while the odds of depression in participants with allergic sensitization and without allergic sensitization were not found significant difference. Allergy is positively associated with depression disorder, and patients with allergy-related outcomes, such as AR, may be at higher risk of depression, while the IgE level was not founded to be related with depression. Cancer stem cells (CSCs) have been demonstrated to be involved in tumor initiation and relapse, and the presence of CSCs in the tumor tissue often leads to therapeutic failure. BBI608 has been identified to eliminate CSCs by inhibiting signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3). In this study, we confirm that BBI608 can efficiently suppress the proliferation and migration of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells, and specifically kill the stemness-high population in chemoresistant NSCLC cells. To improve its bioavailability and tumor accumulation, BBI608 is successfully encapsulated into redox-responsive PEGylated branched N-(2-hydroxypropyl) methacrylamide (HPMA)-deoxy cholic acid (DA) polymeric nanoparticles (BBI608-SS-NPs). The BBI608-SS-NPs can release the drug in response to high concentrations of intracellular glutathione, and exhibit cytotoxicity against lung cancer cells and CSCs comparable to the free drug BBI608. Furthermore, the BBI608-SS-NPs preferentially accumulate in tumor sites, resulting in a superior anti-tumor efficacy in both cisplatin-resistant cell line-derived xenograft (CDX) and patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models of NSCLC. Mechanistic studies demonstrate that BBI608-SS-NPs not only directly inhibit the downstream genes of the STAT3 pathway, but also indirectly inhibit the Wnt pathway. Introduction The emergence of electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) poses a new challenge to tobacco control efforts. With their increasing popularity, particularly among youth, public concerns have been raised in Mainland China. Further investigation is necessary to fully understand the safety and potential adverse effects of e-cigarettes. Methods The Baidu search index (BSI) was employed using e-cigarette related terms from January 1, 2011, to April 4, 2022. The search volume for each term was recorded and analyzed for the search trend module, geodemographic module, search-demand module, regional preferences, demographic preferences, and user demand. Results According to our analysis, the total BSI for the 18 e-cigarette related search keywords was 39,027,819. The average annual percentage change of BSI indicated an upward trend for each of these categories, including health issues ( p < 0.05), definition ( p < 0.05), product and promotions ( p < 0.05), and policy and regulations. Of all inquiries, 59.38% originated from females and 40.62% from males. The total valid BSI for e-cigarette related words was 165,076,588, and 11.59% of all search inquiries were from individuals aged 19 years and younger. Our analysis also revealed that the public's primary concerns regarding e-cigarettes were related to their quality and potential health issues. Conclusions E-cigarettes enjoy great popularity nationwide, but product quality and safety are major public concerns. Regulation of e-cigarettes for their standard production, quality control, advertisement, and target customers should be implemented promptly, and the public needs to have a clear perception of e-cigarettes, especially adolescents. Background: The global prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in the general population is relatively clear. Our previous study showed that elderly individuals who are physically disabled are more likely to experience kidney function impairment, and the main purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence and risk factors associated with CKD in elderly patients with physical disabilities., Methods: A total of 2679 elderly individuals with physical disabilities from the 2018 Shanghai Disability Health Survey were screened to calculate the prevalence of CKD. Multiple logistic regression was performed to identify the factors associated with CKD. Detailed subgroup analyses of disability level were also conducted., Results: We confirmed CKD in 287 of 2679 (10.7%) participants. Female sex, age, history of hypertension, red blood cell count, albumin, urea, and uric acid (UA) were independently correlated with CKD. Age and UA abnormalities were common risk factors for different levels of disabilities., Conclusion: The prevalence of CKD is higher in the mild level of older physically handicapped individuals. Objective: The workers in emerging manufacturing are at decreased risk of traditional occupational diseases, while probably at increased risk of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs). This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and risk factors of WMSDs among emerging manufacturing workers in Beijing., Methods: A total of 3,359 valid questionnaires were collected from 10 enterprises in the electronics, pharmaceutical, and motor manufacturing industries. The prevalence of WMSDs was assessed using the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire. The work posture load was evaluated through a questionnaire., Results: The results showed that the highest prevalence of WMSDs was observed in part of the neck (15.0%), followed by the lower back (12.5%), shoulders (11.2%), and upper back (7.1%). Female workers, workers aged older than 35 years, workers with a BMI of ≥28 kg/m 2 , longer working experience, never exercised had a higher prevalence of WMSDs. Logistic regression analysis showed that female workers, workers aged older than 35 years, with a middle school education and college degree, and workers who never exercised had a higher risk of WMSDs. In addition, workers who sat for long during work, worked hard with upper limbs or hands, worked in uncomfortable postures, and performed repetitive operations were positively related with the increased risk of WMSDs., Conclusion: These findings suggested that WMSDs were prevalent among emerging manufacturing workers in Beijing, China, while efforts should be made to reshape the risk factors associated with WMSDs, such as prolonged sitting, uncomfortable positions, and repetitive operations. Background: Myocardial infarction (MI) is one of the most serious cardiovascular diseases, characterized by a rapid and irreversible decline in myocardial function. Early detection of patients with MI and prolonging the optimal therapeutic window of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) are particularly important. This study aimed to identify the diagnostic biomarkers and novel therapeutic targets for acute myocardial infarction., Method: We generated the AMI mouse models by ligating the proximal left anterior descending coronary artery. Six time points-Sham, AMI 10-min, 1-h, 6-h, 24-h, and 72-h-were chosen to examine the molecular changes that occur during the AMI process. RNA-seq and DIA-MS were performed on the infarcted left ventricular tissues of AMI mice at each time point. Co-expression pattern genes were screened from myocardial infarction samples at different time points by time-series analysis. Gene Ontology (GO) function and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis were used to examine these genes. Using the Interactive Gene/Protein Retrieval Tool (STRING) database, the protein-protein interaction network (PPI) was constructed and the hub genes were identified. In order to evaluate the diagnostic value of hub genes, a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was constructed. An independent data set, GSE163772, confirmed the diagnostic value of hub genes further., Result: We obtained the expression profiles at different time points after the occurrence of heart failure through high-throughput sequencing, and found 167 genes with similar expression patterns through time series analysis. The immune response and immune-related pathways had the greatest enrichment of these genes. Among them, Itgb2 Syk, Tlr4, Tlr2, Itgax, and Lcp2 may play key roles as hub genes. Combined with the results of proteomic analysis, it was found that the expression of Coro1a in both omics increased with time. The results of external validation showed that TLR2, ITGAX, and LCP2 had good predictive ability for AMI diagnosis., Conclusion: Itgb2, Syk, Tlr4, Tlr2, Itgax, Lcp2 and Coro1a are considered to be the seven key genes significantly associated with AMI. Perfluorinated or polyfluorinated compounds (PFCs) continue entering to the environmental as individuals or mixtures, but their toxicological information remains largely unknown. Here, we investigated the toxic effects and ecological risks of Perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS) and its substitutes on prokaryotes (Chlorella vulgaris) and eukaryotes (Microcystis aeruginosa). Based on the calculated EC 50 values, the results showed that PFOS was significantly more toxic to both algae than its alternatives including Perfluorobutane sulfonic acid (PFBS) and 6:2 Fluoromodulated sulfonates (6:2 FTS), and the PFOS-PFBS mixture was more toxic to both algae than the other two PFC mixtures. The action mode of binary PFC mixtures on Chlorella vulgaris was mainly shown as antagonistic and on Microcystis aeruginosa as synergistic, by using Combination index (CI) model coupled with Monte Carlo simulation. The mean risk quotient (RQ) value of three individual PFCs and their mixtures were all below the threshold of 10 -1 , but the risk of those binary mixtures were higher than that of PFCs individually because of their synergistic effect. Evidence suggests that agricultural workers are at higher risk of insulin resistance (IR), but few studies have investigated IR in solar greenhouse workers, who are exposed to higher concentrations of agricultural risk factors than traditional agricultural workers. A prevalence study was conducted in a greenhouse vegetable farm in China. In total, 948 participants were enrolled in this study. Among them, 721 participants were allocated to the greenhouse worker group (G group), and 227 participants were assigned to the field worker group (F group). The TyG index, which is an indicator to evaluate prediabetes (IR), was calculated by the formula: TyG index = ln [fasting triglycerides (mg/dL) × fasting plasma glucose (mg/dL)/2]. To evaluate the associations of TyG index alternation with solar greenhouse and field work, multiple linear regression (MLR) and logistic regression models were performed. The TyG index in the G group (8.53 ± 0.56) was higher than that in the F group (8.44 ± 0.59) ( p  < 0.05). Solar greenhouse work was positively associated with an increased TyG index in both the multiple linear regression model [ β  = 0.207, (0.006, 0.408)] and the logistic regression model [ OR  = 1.469, (1.070, 2.016)]. IR was associated with the solar greenhouse work. However, the determination of agricultural hazard factors needs to be further strengthened to improve exposure assessment. Tin sulfide has outstanding thermoelectric properties in the b -axis direction of crystallography as a IV-VI group layered compound, which arouses great attention. In this study, temperature-dependent Raman spectroscopy (TDRS) is used to quantify the phonon anharmonicity in SnS crystals from 77 to 475 K, where the three-phonon process dominates in this temperature region. Moreover, integration of the four-phonon process and lattice thermal expansion will better describe the temperature-dependent Raman experimental phenomenon. The good agreement between the calculated and experimental lattice thermal conductivity confirms the three-phonon scattering process is the dominant scattering mechanism at this temperature range. Further, combining the atomic thermal displacement and charge density through density functional theory calculation, the inherently low thermal conductivity of SnS is because of strong lattice anharmonicity, which is brought by the presence of asymmetric chemical bonding resulting from the Sn 5s 2 lone pair electrons. These results provide key insights for studying thermal properties of other low-dimensional materials.

In slope ecological restoration projects, reinforcing soil and promoting vegetation growth are essential measures. Guest soil spraying technology can be used to backfill modified soil and vegetation seeds onto the slope surface, resulting in successful ecological restoration. The use of organic polymer modifiers to reinforce soil has several benefits, such as high strength, effective results, and low pollution levels. Organic polymer soil modifiers can be divided into two categories: synthetic polymer modifiers and biopolymer modifiers. This paper provides a thorough review of the properties and interaction mechanisms of two types of polymer modifiers in soil consolidation. The properties of organic polymer modifiers make them applicable in soil and vegetation engineering on slopes. These modifiers can enhance soil mechanics, infiltration, and erosion resistance and promote vegetation growth. Therefore, the suitability of organic polymer modifiers for soil and vegetation engineering on slopes is demonstrated by their properties and potential for improvement in key areas. Furthermore, challenges and future prospects for slope protection technology using organic polymer modifiers are suggested.

Background: Although several studies have confirmed the prognostic value of the consolidation to tumor ratio (CTR) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), there still remains controversial about it., Methods: We systematically searched the PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science databases from inception to April, 2022 for eligible studies that reported the correlation between CTR and prognosis in NSCLC. Hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) were extracted and pooled to assess the overall effects. Heterogeneity was estimated by I 2 statistics. Subgroup analysis based on the cut-off value of CTR, country, source of HR and histology type was conducted to detect the sources of heterogeneity. Statistical analyses were performed using STATA version 12.0., Results: A total of 29 studies published between 2001 and 2022 with 10,347 patients were enrolled. The pooled results demonstrated that elevated CTR was associated with poorer overall survival (HR = 1.88, 95% CI 1.42-2.50, P < 0.01) and disease-free survival (DFS)/recurrence-free survival (RFS)/progression-free survival (PFS) (HR = 1.42, 95% CI 1.27-1.59, P < 0.01) in NSCLC. According to subgroup analysis by the cut-off value of CTR and histology type, both lung adenocarcinoma and NSCLC patients who had a higher CTR showed worse survival. Subgroup analysis stratified by country revealed that CTR was a prognostic factor for OS and DFS/RFS/PFS in Chinese, Japanese, and Turkish patients., Conclusions: In NSCLC patients with high CTR, the prognosis was worse than that with low CTR, indicating that CTR may be a prognostic factor., (© 2023. Background and Aims: The annual incidence of early-onset colorectal cancer (EOCRC) is increasing at an alarming rate. The prognosis of EOCRC remains controversial, and whether the early onset is a risk factor for colorectal cancer remains unclear., Methods: We searched four electronic bibliographic databases from database inception to April 25, 2022 for studies that included both early- and later-onset patients and performed a prognostic analysis. Random-effects models were used to summarize the prognostic information extracted by the investigators, including overall survival (OS), cancer-special survival (CSS), and disease-free survival (DFS). Network meta-analysis (NMA) was used to compare patients' long-term prognoses in different age subgroups., Results: After 694 reports were screened, 13 studies were included in the final analysis, with a total of 448,781 CRC cases. In the meta-analysis of the 5-year OS, EOCRC had a better prognosis compared to LOCRC (hazard ratio [HR] 0.87, 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.74-0.99; relative risk [RR] 0.83, 95% CI, 0.78-0.89). No difference in prognosis was found between the two groups in terms of 5-year CSS (RR 0.99, 95% CI, 0.93-1.05), 5-year DFS (RR 0.90, 95% CI, 0.74-1.09), and short-term OS. In the NMA, patients aged <30 years had the worst outcome (surface under the cumulative ranking curve [SUCRA], 15.8%) in 5-year OS; consistent results were observed in the analysis of 5-year CSS (<30 years, SUCRA 4.5%), but the difference was not statistically significant., Conclusion: Although patients with early-onset CRC had better OS than those with later-onset CRC, there was no difference in the CSS. Meanwhile, the trend for survival was worse in younger patients, especially in those ages 18-29 years. The bagging method has received much application and attention in recent years due to its good performance and simple framework. It has facilitated the advanced random forest method and accuracy-diversity ensemble theory. Bagging is an ensemble method based on simple random sampling (SRS) method with replacement. However, SRS is the most foundation sampling method in the field of statistics, where exists some other advanced sampling methods for probability density estimation. In imbalanced ensemble learning, down-sampling, over-sampling, and SMOTE methods have been proposed for generating base training set. However, these methods aim at changing the underlying distribution of data rather than simulating it better. The ranked set sampling (RSS) method uses auxiliary information to get more effective samples. The purpose of this article is to propose a bagging ensemble method based on RSS, which uses the ordering of objects related to the class to obtain more effective training sets. To explain its performance, we give a generalization bound of ensemble from the perspective of posterior probability estimation and Fisher information. On the basis of RSS sample having a higher Fisher information than SRS sample, the presented bound theoretically explains the better performance of RSS-Bagging. The experiments on 12 benchmark datasets demonstrate that RSS-Bagging statistically performs better than SRS-Bagging when the base classifiers are multinomial logistic regression (MLR) and support vector machine (SVM).

Background: To explore the effect and mechanism of action of miR-210 on postmenopausal osteoporosis (PMPO) in ovariectomized rats in vivo., Methods: An ovariectomized (OVX) rat model was established by ovariectomy. Tail vein injection was performed to overexpress and knock down miR-210 in OVX rats, followed by the collection of blood and femoral tissues from each group of rats. And quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) was applied to assess the expression level of miR-210 in femoral tissues of each group. Micro computed tomography (Micro CT) was adopted to scan the microstructure of the femoral trabecula in each group to obtain relevant data like bone mineral density (BMD), bone mineral content (BMC), trabecular bone volume fraction (BV/TV), trabecular thickness (Tb.Th), bone surface-to-volume ratio (BS/BV), and trabecular separation (Tb.Sp). ELISA was used for determining the level of bone alkaline phosphatase (BALP), amino-terminal propeptide of type I procollagen (PINP), osteocalcin (OCN), and C-terminal telopeptide of type I collagen (CTX-1) in serum; and Western blot for the protein level of Runt-related transcription factor 2 (Runx2), osteopontin (OPN), and collagen type I alpha 1 (COL1A1) in femoral tissues., Results: MiR-210 expression was significantly decreased in femoral tissues of OVX rats. Overexpression of miR-210 could obviously increase BMD, BMC, BV/TV and Tb.Th, whereas significantly decrease BS/BV and Tb.Sp in femurs of OVX rats. Moreover, miR-210 also downregulated BALP and CTX-1 level, upregulated PINP and OCN level in the serum of OVX rats promoted the expression of osteogenesis-related markers (Runx2, OPN and COL1A1) in the femur of OVX rats. Additionally, further pathway analysis revealed that high expression of miR-210 activated the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)/Notch1 signaling pathway in the femur of OVX rats., Conclusion: High expression of miR-210 may improve the micromorphology of bone tissue and modulate bone formation and resorption in OVX rats by activating the VEGF/Notch1 signaling pathway, thereby alleviating osteoporosis. Objectives: We aimed to elucidate trends in the crude mortality rate (CMR), age-standardized mortality rate (ASMR), and burden of mental disorders (MD) in China., Methods: A longitudinal observational study was performed using the data of MD deaths in the National Disease Surveillance System (DSPs) during 2009-2019. The mortality rates were normalized using the Segis global population. Trends in the mortality of MDs stratified by age, gender, region, and residency, respectively. The burden of MD was evaluated using age-standardized person years of life loss per 100,000 people (SPYLLs) and average years of life lost (AYLL)., Result: A total of 18,178 MD deaths occurred during 2009-2019, accounting for 0.13% of total deaths, and 68.3% of MD deaths occurred in rural areas. The CMR of MD in China was 0.75/100,00 persons (ASMR: 0.62/100,000 persons). The ASMR of all MDs decreased mainly due to the decrease in ASMR in rural residents. Schizophrenia and alcohol use disorder (AUD) were the leading causes of death in MD patients. The ASMR of schizophrenia and AUD was higher in rural residents than in urban residents. The ASMR of MD was highest in the 40-64 age group. As the leading causes of MD burden, the SPYLL and AYLL of schizophrenia were 7.76 person-years and 22.30 years, respectively., Conclusion: Although the ASMR of all MDs decreased during 2009-2019, schizophrenia and AUD were still the most important causes of death for MDs. Background: This study aimed to examine the association between cardiopulmonary function, health-related quality of life (HRQOL) and cognitive function among nursing home residents aged 80 years and over., Methods: A nursing home-based, cross-sectional study was implemented among 677 aged over 80 years in Shanghai, China. A total of 197 participants underwent effective cardiopulmonary function examinations. Mini-Mental Status Examination (MMSE) and Short Form-36 scales (SF-36) were used to assess cognitive function and HRQOL, respectively., Results: Decline in left ventricular ejection fractions (LVEF) [adjusted odds ratio (AOR), 1.98; 95% confidential interval (CI), 1.03-3.81)] and vital capacity (VC) (AOR, 2.08; 95%CI, 1.07-4.04) was associated with cognitive impairment. After adjusting confounding factors, relationships between cognitive function and physical functioning (PF) (AOR, 0.98; 95%CI, 0.97-0.99) still existed., Conclusions: Healthcare professionals should pay more attention to cardiopulmonary health and HRQOL in the nursing home residents. Actions of public health strategies focus on the improvement of cardiopulmonary function, and PF among older nursing home residents with cognitive impairment is required.

Background: The associations between obesity and abnormalities of upper and lower extremity arteries remain to be elucidated. This study is aimed to investigate whether general obesity and abdominal obesity are associated with upper and lower extremity artery diseases in a Chinese community population., Methods: This cross-sectional study included 13,144 participants in a Chinese community population. The associations between obesity parameters and abnormalities of upper and lower extremity arteries were evaluated. Multiple logistic regression analysis was used to assess the independence of associations between obesity indicators and abnormalities of peripheral arteries. Nonlinear relationship between body mass index (BMI) and risk of ankle-brachial index (ABI) ≤ 0.9 was evaluated using a restricted cubic spline model., Results: The prevalence of ABI ≤ 0.9 and interarm blood pressure difference (IABPD) ≥ 15 mmHg in the subjects was 1.9% and 1.4% respectively. Waist circumference (WC) was independently associated with ABI ≤ 0.9 (OR 1.014, 95% CI 1.002-1.026, P = 0.017). Nevertheless, BMI was not independently associated with ABI ≤ 0.9 using linear statistical models. Meanwhile, BMI and WC were independently associated with IABPD ≥ 15 mmHg respectively (OR 1.139, 95% CI 1.100-1.181, P < 0.001, and OR 1.058, 95% CI 1.044-1.072, P < 0.001). Furthermore, prevalence of ABI ≤ 0.9 was displayed with a U-shaped pattern according to different BMI (< 20, 20 to < 25, 25 to < 30, and ≥ 30). Compared with BMI 20 to < 25, risk of ABI ≤ 0.9 was significantly increased when BMI < 20 or ≥ 30 respectively (OR 2.595, 95% CI 1.745-3.858, P < 0.001, or OR 1.618, 95% CI 1.087-2.410, P = 0.018). Restricted cubic spline analysis indicated a significant U-shaped relationship between BMI and risk of ABI ≤ 0.9 (P for non-linearity < 0.001). However, prevalence of IABPD ≥ 15 mmHg was significantly increased with incremental BMI (P for trend < 0.001). Compared with BMI 20 to < 25, the risk of IABPD ≥ 15 mmHg was significantly increased when BMI ≥ 30 (OR 3.218, 95% CI 2.133-4.855, P < 0.001)., Conclusions: Abdominal obesity is an independent risk factor for upper and lower extremity artery diseases. Meanwhile, general obesity is also independently associated with upper extremity artery disease. Background: The association of anxiety and depression with adverse reactions after receipt of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine is not clear among the general population. This study aims to evaluate the effect of anxiety and depression on self-reported adverse reactions to COVID-19 vaccine., Methods: The cross-sectional study was conducted during April-July 2021. Participants completing the two doses of vaccine were included in this study. Sociodemographic information, anxiety and depression levels and adverse reactions after the first dose of vaccine for all participants were collected. The anxiety and depression levels were assessed by the Seven-item Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale and the Nine-item Patient Health Questionnaire Scale, respectively. The multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to examine the association between anxiety and depression and adverse reactions., Results: A total of 2161 participants were enrolled in this study. The prevalence of anxiety and depression was 13% (95% confidence interval (CI), 11.3-14.2%) and 15% (95%CI, 13.6-16.7%), respectively. Of the 2161 participants, 1607 (74%; 95% CI, 73-76%) reported at least one adverse reaction after the first dose of the vaccine. Pain at the injection site (55%) and fatigue and headache (53% and 18%, respectively) were the most commonly reported local and systemic adverse reactions, respectively. Participants with anxiety or depression or both were more likely to report local and systemic adverse reactions (P < 0.05)., Conclusion: The results suggest that anxiety and depression increase the risk of self-reported adverse reactions to COVID-19 vaccine. It has been widely reported that the farmers were at increased risk of neurologic disorders, which probably be related with agricultural risk factors. The intensity of agricultural risk factors was rather high in the solar greenhouse than those in the agricultural farm, while the risk and prevalence of neurologic symptoms among solar greenhouse workers are unclear, which may provide evidence of neurologic dysfunction before clinically measurable signs are evident. This study aimed to evaluate the association among solar greenhouse working, field working, and neurologic symptoms. A cross-sectional study was conducted in China, and 986 Chinese Han population consisting 711 solar greenhouse workers (greenhouse worker group) and 275 field farmers (field worker group) were included. Participants provided information on demographic information, number of solar greenhouses owned (only solar greenhouse workers), working lifetime, and neurologic symptoms through an established questionnaire Q16 to assess the impact of occupational exposure to neurotoxicants, and the total scores were calculated. Multiple linear regression models were used to analyze the association among solar greenhouse working, field working, and neurologic symptoms. The total scales of the neurologic symptoms were higher in the solar greenhouse worker group (20.29 ± 4.79) than those in the field worker group (19.44 ± 4.22) (p < 0.05). Multivariate multiple linear regression showed that solar greenhouse working was positively associated with the scales of the neurologic symptoms (β = 0.248, 95% CI: (0.112, 0.383)). And the age, working lifetime, and current smoking were also positively associated with the scores of the neurologic symptoms, β = 0.007, 0.006 and 0.485 respectively (All p < 0.05). Background: Growing evidences showed that long working hours is associated with depression epidemic, but few studies investigate whether physical activity (PA) could modify the risk of depression associated with long working hours, which was the purpose of the present study., Methods: A cross-sectional data obtained from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2015-2018. According to the criteria of International Labour Organization, long working hours was defined as >40 h/wk. The Nine-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) was used to identify depression. Binary logistic regression and restricted cubic spline (RCS) models were used to estimate the associations between long working hours and depression, furthermore to estimate the association of PA., Results: 5958 participants were included in the study. The results indicated that 3074 (51.6 %) of participants worked >40 h/wk. The prevalence of depression was 7.7 %. Logistic regression analysis indicated a positive association between long working hours and depression [OR = 1.738, 95 CI (1.427, 2.117)], and the results were still robust after controlling other confounding factors. As plastic pollution continues to increase and plastic waste is shredded to form smaller plastic particles, there is growing concern about the potential impact of nanoplastics (NPs) on freshwater ecosystems. In this work, the effects of three surface-modified NPs, including polystyrene (PS), PS-NH 2 , and PS-COOH, on the growth, photosynthetic activity, oxidative damage, and microcystins (MCs) production/release of Microcystis aeruginosa (M. aeruginosa) were investigated. Results indicated that all three NPs significantly inhibited the growth of M. aeruginosa after a 96 h exposure, and the growth inhibition followed the order of PS-NH 2 > PS > PS-COOH (p < 0.05). Meanwhile, all three NPs at the concentration of 100 mg/L significantly increased the content of intra-MCs (115 %, 147 %, and 121 % higher than the control, respectively) and extra-MCs (142 %, 175 %, and 151 % higher than the control, respectively) after a 96 h exposure (p < 0.05). Moreover, our findings also suggested that the potential mechanisms of surface-modified PS NPs on M. aeruginosa growth and MCs production/release were associated with physical constraints, photosynthetic activity obstruct, and oxidative damage. Background: Hypertension has become increasingly prevalent in Chinese children and adolescents in recent decades, which affects growth and development of children, leads to cognitive decline and multiple target organ damage. Here, we assessed the impact of different body mass index (BMI) trajectories on the occurrence of hypertension in children and adolescents using a cohort study in Northeast China., Materials and Methods: Children and adolescents aged 5-18 years was extracted for physical examination in Fuxin City, Liaoning Province, China during the 2009-2015 period. A latent category growth mixed model (LCGMM) was used to classify BMI changes and analyze the effect of different BMI trajectories on the risk of occurrence of hypertension in these participants within 5 years., Results: All participates were divided into five BMI trajectories by LCGMM method: slow increasing group ( n  = 2616, 30.8%), overweight and obesity (OW/OB) group ( n  = 1141, 13.4%), normal decreasing group ( n  = 232, 2.7%), stable normal group ( n  = 4383, 51.6%), and fast-increasing group ( n  = 120, 1.4%). Compared with the stable normal group, the slow increasing group [adjusted odds ratio (AOR): 1.610, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.304-1.989], the OW/OB group (AOR: 3.172, 95% CI: 2.500-4.023) and the fast-increasing group (AOR: 2.708, 95% CI: 1.445-5.074) all increased the risk of developing hypertension in children and adolescents., Conclusion: The potential of developing hypertension varies among groups of children aged 5-18 with different BMI trajectories. Children and adolescents in the normal BMI range (the slow growth group) still need to be aware of the change in BMI trajectory to stop or slow down the progression of BP abnormalities.

Background: Populus euphratica Olivier is a kind of tree capable of growing in extremely arid desert and semi-desert environments. In this study, a culture-dependent method was used to analyze the bacterial diversity of stem liquid of P. euphratica and resina of P. euphratica, and to further evaluate plant growth promoting (PGP) activity., Results: A total of 434 bacteria were isolated from stem fluid and resina of P. euphratica in Ebinur Lake Wetland Nature Reserve and Mulei Primitive forest. The results of taxonomic composition analysis shows that Gammaproteobacteria, Firmicutes, and Actinobacteria&#95;c are the three dominant groups in all the communities, and the representative genera are Bacillus, Nesterenkonia and Halomonas. The diversity analysis shows that the culturable bacterial community diversity of P. euphratica in Ebinur Lake Wetland Nature Reserve is higher than that in Mulei Primitive forest, and the bacterial community diversity of P. euphratica stem fluid is higher than that of resina. According to PGP activity evaluation, 158 functional bacteria with plant growth promoting potential were screened. Among them, 61 strains havephosphorus solubilizing abilities, 80 strains have potassium solubilizing abilities, 32 strains have nitrogen fixation abilities, and 151 strains have iron ammonia salt utilization abilities. The germination rate, plant height, and dry weight of the maize seedlings treated with strains BB33-1, TC10 and RC6 are significantly higher than those of the control group., Conclusion: In this study, a large number of culturable bacteria were isolated from P. euphratica, which provides new functional bacteria sources for promoting plant growth., (© 2022. Objectives: This study aimed to determine patients' perceived benefits of a WeChat applet for self-management of patients with neurogenic bladder (NGB) and identify the key factors hindering their adoption., Methods: In the qualitative study, 19 NGB patients were invited for semi-structured interviews. They were hospitalized in the rehabilitation departments of two tertiary hospitals in Shenzhen and tried out the self-management applet for two weeks. Data were analyzed using the content analysis method., Results: The results indicated that the WeChat applet of self-management was helpful and embraced by the NGB patients. Three perceived benefits were identified 1) being accessible, flexible, and intuitive to users, 2) driving bladder self-management, and 3) directing the way for care partners and family members. Challenges hindering the adoption of the applet included 1) negative attitudes of patients towards bladder self-management and patient characteristics, 2) concerns about the risks of mHealth, and 3) the necessity of applet upgrading., Conclusion: This study showed feasibility of the WeChat applet for self-management among NGB patients to meet their needs for access to information during hospitalization and after discharge. Objective: In observational studies, testosterone has been reported to be associated with some types of cancers. However, the direction and magnitude of the causal association between testosterone and different types of cancer remain unclear. This Mendelian randomization study assessed the causal associations of total testosterone (TT) and bioavailable testosterone (BT) with cancer risk in men., Methods: We performed two-sample Mendelian randomization using publicly available GWAS summary statistics to investigate the genetically causal association between testosterone and the risk of 22 kinds of cancers in men. Causal estimates were calculated by the inverse variance weighted method. We also performed additional sensitivity tests to evaluate the validity of the casualty., Results: Genetically predicted BT level were significantly associated with an increased risk of prostate cancer [odds ratio (OR) = 1.17 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.09-1.26, P = 2.51E -05 ] in the MR analysis with the IVW method. TT was found to be the suggestive protective factor against stomach cancer (OR = 0.66, 95% CI: 0.48-0.93, P = 0.0116) as well as pancreatic cancer (OR = 0.59, 95% CI: 0.36-0.96, P = 0.0346). A suggestive association was found between TT and the occurrence of small intestine cancer (OR = 1.0004, 95% CI: 1.0001-1.0007, P = 0.0116). However, testosterone had no significant association with other cancers., Conclusion: This study investigated the role of testosterone in the development of prostate cancer, stomach cancer, pancreatic cancer, and small intestine cancer but found no strong association with the other cancers in men., (© 2022. We aimed to examine the longitudinal association between frailty and cognitive impairment in the older Chinese population. This prospective cohort study used data from the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Study 2011 wave. We calculated the follow-up duration as 3 years from the baseline year. Frailty was measured using the frailty index, and cognitive function was calculated by Mini-Mental State Examination Scale. Participants who were non-frailty and those with normal cognitive function were included in 2011 and followed up in 2014, respectively. Frailty was an independent risk factor for early-onset cognitive impairment. Age, hearing impairment, and a decreased ability to perform daily activities were the main risk factors for cognitive impairment, while affluent economic status was a protective factor. Cognitive impairment was not found to be an independent risk factor for frailty. We concluded that the frailty index is a significant predictor of cognitive impairment among community-dwelling older adults.

Objective: Occupational stress is a critical global public health problem. We aimed to evaluate the prevalence of occupational stress among the workers in the electricity, heat, gas, water production and supply (EHGWPS), manufacturing, and transportation industries in Beijing, China. We explored the demographic differences in occupational stress status among workers in industrial enterprises., Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 13,867 workers. The self-administered New Brief Job Stress Questionnaire was used to evaluate high occupational stress status, which includes four sub-dimensions (job stressors, stress response, social support, job stressors & social support). Multiple regression and logistic regression models were used to estimate the association between high occupational stress and the four occupational stress sub-dimensions with risk factors., Results: A total of 13,867 workers were included. The prevalence of high occupational stress was 3.3% in the EHGWPS industries, 10.3% in manufacturing, and 5.8% in transportation. The prevalence of high occupational stress was higher than in the other two categories ( p < 0.05) in manufacturing industries. Logistic regression analysis showed that male workers with lower educational status, more job experience, and working in manufacturing were vulnerable to high occupational stress. Further analysis of the four occupational stress sub-dimensions showed that male workers, older adult workers, workers with lower educational levels, and longer working time were associated with higher scores in job stressors, stress response, social support, and job stress & social support (all p < 0.05). Tin sulfide (SnS), a IV-VI group layered compound, has attracted much attention because of its excellent thermoelectric properties along the crystallographic b -axis. However, there are few reports on the identification of its in-plane orientation. We observe a strong anisotropy of the in-plane Raman signal in bulk SnS. With the help of ab initio calculations, the vibrational symmetry of each observed Raman mode in the cleaved (00 l )-plane is consistent with the experimental values. The angle-resolved polarized Raman spectroscopy, combined with electron backscattered diffraction technology, is utilized to systematically investigate the in-plane anisotropy of the phonon response and then determine the in-plane orientation. Furthermore, the temperature-dependent and laser-power-dependent Raman scattering analyses reveal that the adjacent layers in the SnS crystals show a relatively weak van der Waals interaction. Studies have shown that organophosphate pesticides (OPs) exposure may disrupt thyroid endocrine functions in animal models, agricultural population, occupational workers, and work-related population. However, the relationships between OPs exposure and thyroid hormone levels in the general population are unclear. This study aimed to explore the relationships of OPs exposure with thyroid hormone and antibody levels in the general population. We analyzed a sample of 1089 US adults from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2001-2002. OPs exposure was estimated using measures of six non-specific dialkyl phosphate metabolites (DAPs), e.g., dimethylphosphate (DMP). Multiple linear regression models were used to examine the associations of OPs exposure with thyroid hormone and antibody levels. The medians of urinary ∑DAPs detected in males and females were 32.98 nmol/g creatinine and 40.77 nmol/g creatinine, with statistical significance (p = 0.001). After controlling for sociodemographic factors, we found that concentrations of urinary OPs metabolites were positively associated with the serum thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) in the general US population, particularly in males; OPs metabolites were associated with the serum TgAb, tT3, fT3, and TSH. These findings showed that thyroid hormone and antibody disruption are probably associated with OPs exposure in the general population; more studies are needed to confirm our findings., (© 2022. Background and Aims: NASH is associated with high levels of cholesterol and triglyceride (TG) in the liver; however, there is still no approved pharmacological therapy. Synthesis of cholesterol and TG is controlled by sterol regulatory element-binding protein (SREBP), which is found to be abnormally activated in NASH patients. We aim to discover small molecules for treating NASH by inhibiting the SREBP pathway., Approach and Results: Here, we identify a potent SREBP inhibitor, 25-hydroxylanosterol (25-HL). 25-HL binds to insulin-induced gene (INSIG) proteins, stimulates the interaction between INSIG and SCAP, and retains them in the endoplasmic reticulum, thereby suppressing SREBP activation and inhibiting lipogenesis. In NASH mouse models, 25-HL lowers levels of cholesterol and TG in serum and the liver, enhances energy expenditure to prevent obesity, and improves insulin sensitivity. 25-HL dramatically ameliorates hepatic steatosis, inflammation, ballooning, and fibrosis through down-regulating the expression of lipogenic genes. Furthermore, 25-HL exhibits both prophylactic and therapeutic efficacies of alleviating NASH and atherosclerosis in amylin liver NASH model diet-treated Ldlr -/- mice, and reduces the formation of cholesterol crystals and associated crown-like structures of Kupffer cells. Notably, 25-HL lowers lipid contents in serum and the liver to a greater extent than lovastatin or obeticholic acid. 25-HL shows a good safety and pharmacokinetics profile., Conclusions: This study provides the proof of concept that inhibiting SREBP activation by targeting INSIG to lower lipids could be a promising strategy for treating NASH. Studying high-sensitivity fiber-optic temperature sensors is vital in pursuing high-precision temperature measurement. We propose a liquid-sealed multimode interference fiber temperature sensor with a double-taper structure. The influence of structure and sealed-liquid material on the temperature sensitivity of the sensor is analyzed experimentally. The results show that the tapered structure can effectively improve the temperature sensitivity of the sensor, and the effect becomes more evident with the increased refractive index of the sealed liquid. As the refractive index of the sealed liquid increases, the temperature sensitivity of the sensor can be effectively improved. However, the sealed liquid with a high refractive index will increase the failure temperature of the sensor. Near the failure temperature, the sensor achieves an ultra-high-temperature sensitivity of -8.28 n m / K . The results also prove that further increasing the refractive index of the sealed liquid no longer has a significant gain in temperature sensitivity. It is expected that the relevant research will contribute to the development of high-precision temperature-sensing systems.

We aimed to evaluate the influence of early pregnancy stage 1 hypertension and mean arterial pressure (MAP) on the risk of pregnancy complications, including gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and adverse pregnancy outcomes. Pregnant women without early pregnancy hypertension were consecutively recruited in 2010 in Shanghai, China. Total 6104 women with blood pressure (BP) <140/90 mmHg were categorized according to early pregnancy BP and MAP levels, respectively. Multivariate adjusted logistic regression and cox regression was used to test the potential associations. Finally 313 (5.1%) pregnant women identified as stage 1 hypertension. Compared with normotensive women, women with early pregnancy stage 1 hypertension increased the risk of gestational hypertension (GH) [Adjust odds ratio (AOR) 2.295, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.578-3.338], GDM [AOR 1.185, 95% CI 1.010-1.391], preeclampsia [AOR 2.295 95% CI 1.578-3.338], preterm delivery [AOR 1.326, 95% CI 1.026-1.713]and infants with low-birth weight [AOR 1.487, 95% CI 1.082-2.045]; Compared women with MAP < 76 mmHg, the risk of GDM increased, with an adjust hazard ratio (AHR) of 1.387 (95%CI 1.048-1.835) for 76 ≤ MAP < 88 mmHg and an AHR of 1.451 (95%CI 1.053-1.998) for MAP ≥ 88 mmHg. Especially, high MAP levels (≥ 88 mmHg) are associated with GH [AOR 2.775, 95%CI 1.805-4.266], preeclampsia [AOR 3.936, 95%CI 2.358-6.570] and preterm delivery [AOR 1.412, 95%CI 1.035-1.926]. In summary early pregnancy stage 1 hypertension is associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes. Relative higher BP levels in early pregnancy, especially elevated MAP levels should be aware by clinicians to decrease the risk of pregnancy complications., (© 2021. To eliminate the influences of excipients and interference of dead bacterial DNA on the detection of Escherichia coli , Pseudomonas aeruginosa , Salmonella paratyphoid B , and Shigella dysentery in live Bacillus licheniformis capsules, a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method with high sensitivity and specificity was established. By combining bromide with propidium monoazide (PMA) -real-time quantitative PCR (qPCR) with microporous membrane filtration, excipients were removed, the filtrate was collected, and the bacteria were enriched using the centrifugal method. The optimal PMA working concentration, dark incubation time, and exposure time were determined. Specific E. coli , P. aeruginosa , S. paratyphoid B , and S. dysentery primers were selected to design different probes and a multiplex qPCR reaction system was established. The PMA-qPCR method was verified using different concentrations of dead and live bacteria.
