The aim of this study was to assess the ability of MRI radiomic features to differentiate between benign parotid gland tumors (BPGT) and malignant parotid gland tumors (MPGT). This retrospective study included 93 patients who underwent MRI examinations of the head and neck region (78 patients presenting unique PGT, while 15 patients presented double PGT). A total of 108 PGT with histological confirmation were eligible for the radiomic analysis and were assigned to a training group ( n = 83; 58 BPGT; 25 MPGT) and a testing group ( n = 25; 16 BPGT; 9 MPGT). The radiomic features were extracted from 3D segmentations of the PGT on the T2-weighted and fat-saturated, contrast-enhanced T1-weighted images. Following feature reduction techniques, including LASSO regression analysis, a radiomic signature (RS) was built with five radiomic features. The RS presented a good diagnostic performance in differentiating between PGT, achieving an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.852 ( p < 0.001) in the training set and 0.786 ( p = 0.017) in the testing set. In both datasets, the RS proved to have lower values in the BPGT group as compared to MPGT group ( p < 0.001 and p = 0.023, respectively). The multivariate analysis revealed that RS was independently associated with PGT malignancy, together with the ill-defined margin pattern ( p = 0.031, p = 0.001, respectively). The complex model, using clinical data, MRI features and the RS, presented a higher diagnostic performance (AUC of 0.976) in comparison to the RS alone. Non-melanoma skin cancer is one of the most frequently diagnosed cancers in the human body and unfortunately the incidence continues to increase. NMSC is represented by the basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) and squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs), which are the most prevalent forms, and basosquamous cell carcinomas (BSC) together with Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC), which are rare types but with a very aggressive pattern and poor prognosis. The pathological diagnosis is hard to assess without a biopsy, even by the dermoscopy. Moreover, the staging can be problematic because there is no access clinically to the thickness of the tumor and the depth of the invasion. The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of ultrasonography (US), which is a very efficient imaging method, non-irradiating and cheap, in diagnosis and treatment of non-melanoma skin cancer in the head and neck region. Thirty-one patients with highly suspicious malignant lesions of the head and neck skin were evaluated in the Oral and Maxillo-facial Surgery Department and Imaging Department in Cluj Napoca, Romania. All tumors were measured with three transducers: 13 MHz, 20 MHz and 40 MHz. Doppler examination and elastography were also used. The length, width, diameter, thickness, the presence of necrosis, status of regional lymph nodes, the presence of hyperechoic spots, strain ratio and vascularization were all recorded. After that, all patients were treated by surgical resection of the tumor and reconstruction of the defect. Immediately after surgical resection, all tumors were measured again after the same protocol. The resection margins were evaluated by all three types of transducers in order to detect malignant involvement and the results were compared with the histopathological report. We found that the 13 MHz transducers offered a big picture of the tumor but the level of details, in the form of the presence of the hyperechoic spots, is reduced. We recommend this transducer for evaluation of surgical margins or for the large skin tumors. The 20 and 40 MHz transducers are better for viewing the particularities of malignant lesions and for an accurate measurement; however, in the case of large size lesions, assessing all three dimensions of the tumor can be difficult. The intralesional hyperechoic spots are present in case of BCC and they can be used for differential diagnosis of BCC.

Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL) represents a severe complication and the main cause of morbidity in patients with primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS). This study aimed to assess the role of textural analysis (TA) in revealing lymphoma-associated imaging parameters in the parotid gland (PG) parenchyma of patients with pSS. This retrospective study included a total of 36 patients (54.93 ± 13.34 years old; 91.6% females) diagnosed with pSS according to the American College of Rheumatology and the European League Against Rheumatism criteria (24 subjects with pSS and no lymphomatous proliferation; 12 subjects with pSS and NHL development in the PG, confirmed by the histopathological analysis). All subjects underwent MR scanning between January 2018 and October 2022. The coronal STIR PROPELLER sequence was employed to segment PG and perform TA using the MaZda5 software. A total of 65 PGs underwent segmentation and texture feature extraction (48 PGs were included in the pSS control group, and 17 PGs were included in the pSS NHL group). Following parameter reduction techniques, univariate analysis, multivariate regression, and receiver operating characteristics (ROC) analysis, the following TA parameters proved to be independently associated with NHL development in pSS: CH4S6&#95;Sum&#95;Variance and CV4S6&#95;Inverse&#95;Difference&#95;Moment, with an area under ROC of 0.800 and 0.875, respectively. The radiomic model (resulting by combining the two previously independent TA features), presented 94.12% sensitivity and 85.42% specificity in differentiating between the two studied groups, reaching the highest area under ROC of 0.931 for the chosen cutoff value of 1.556. This study suggests the potential role of radiomics in revealing new imaging biomarkers that might serve as useful predictors for lymphoma development in patients with pSS. Further research on multicentric cohorts is warranted to confirm the obtained results and the added benefit of TA in risk stratification for patients with pSS.

The conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) evaluation and staging of cervical cancer encounters several pitfalls, partially due to subjective evaluations of medical images. Fifty-six patients with histologically proven cervical malignancies (squamous cell carcinomas, n = 42; adenocarcinomas, n = 14) who underwent pre-treatment MRI examinations were retrospectively included. The lymph node status (non-metastatic lymph nodes, n = 39; metastatic lymph nodes, n = 17) was assessed using pathological and imaging findings. The texture analysis of primary tumours and lymph nodes was performed on T2-weighted images. Texture parameters with the highest ability to discriminate between the two histological types of primary tumours and metastatic and non-metastatic lymph nodes were selected based on Fisher coefficients (cut-off value > 3). The parameters' discriminative ability was tested using an k nearest neighbour (KNN) classifier, and by comparing their absolute values through an univariate and receiver operating characteristic analysis. Results: The KNN classified metastatic and non-metastatic lymph nodes with 93.75% accuracy. Ten entropy variations were able to identify metastatic lymph nodes (sensitivity: 79.17-88%; specificity: 93.48-97.83%). No parameters exceeded the cut-off value when differentiating between histopathological entities. In conclusion, texture analysis can offer a superior non-invasive characterization of lymph node status, which can improve the staging accuracy of cervical cancers.

Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate if the increased temporomandibular joint (TMJ) capsular thickness, measured by ultrasound (US), is associated with the presence of effusion, diagnosed using MRI imaging. Materials and Methods: 102 patients with signs and symptoms of temporomandibular disorders were included in the study. Each patient underwent US and MRI examinations, 1 to 5 days following clinical examination. The US was performed with an 8−40 MHz linear transducer operating at 20 MHz. The MRI was performed using a 1.5 T MRI device. The ROC curve was analyzed to identify the optimal cut-off value for capsular distention, which can be interpreted as an indirect sign of TMJ effusion. Results: The capsular width values were found to be between 0.7 and 3.6 mm. The best cut-off value was 2.05 mm with a sensitivity of 55.9% and a specificity of 94.7%. The next optimal cut-off value was 1.75 mm with a sensitivity of 67.6% and a specificity of 82.4%. The area under the ROC curve was 0.78 (95% CI 0.68, 0.87, p < 0.05). Conclusions: Ultrasound-measured capsular width can be interpreted as an indirect sign of TMJ effusion. The critical cut-off for capsular width was 2 mm.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most prevalent endocrine disorder in women of reproductive age. Vitamin D and its receptor are thought to play an important role in PCOS susceptibility, although the impact of vitamin D receptor (VDR) polymorphisms on the hormonal and metabolic profile is still controversial. A literature search in PubMed and Embase was performed up to September 2020 for case-control studies in women suffering from PCOS, with outcome related to VDR polymorphisms effect on metabolic/endocrine disturbances. We have found 16 eligible studies including 2566 women with PCOS and 2430 controls. ApaI polymorphism seemed to be associated with hyperandrogenism in both Asian and Caucasian population. FokI variant was correlated with metabolic/endocrine parameters especially in Asian population, while a relation between Cdx2 genotypes and insulin sensitivity was observed in both ethnicities. VDR polymorphisms have an important role in PCOS development and related hormonal and metabolic abnormalities. Few case-control studies analysed the interaction between VDR variants and metabolic/endocrine parameters with the majority of the articles focused on the Asian region. The morphological changes advocating for peritoneal carcinomatosis are inconsistent and may be visible only in later stages of the disease. However, malignant ascites represents an early sign, and this fluid exhibits specific histological characteristics. This study aimed to quantify the fluid properties on computed tomography (CT) images of intraperitoneal effusions through texture analysis and evaluate its utility in differentiating benign and malignant collections. Fifty-two patients with histologically proven benign (n=29) and malignant (n=23) intraperitoneal effusions who underwent CT examinations were retrospectively included. Texture analysis of the fluid component was performed on the non-enhanced phase of each examination using dedicated software. Fisher and the probability of classification error and average correlation coefficients were used to select two sets of ten texture features, whose ability to distinguish between the two types of collections were tested using a k-nearest-neighbor classifier. Also, each of the selected feature's diagnostic power was assessed using univariate and receiver operating characteristics analysis with the calculation of the area under the curve. The k-nearest-neighbor classifier was able to distinguish between the two entities with 71.15% accuracy, 73.91% sensitivity, and 68.97% specificity. The highest-ranked texture parameter was Inverse Difference Moment (p=0.0023; area under the curve=0.748), based on which malignant collections could be diagnosed with 95.65% sensitivity and 44.83% specificity. Although successful, the texture assessment of benign and malignant collections most likely does not reflect the cytological differences between the two groups.

Background: The ultrasound examination is a surface technique with an accurate diagnosis of pathological processes adjacent to the pleural line. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the role of hand-held ultrasound devices (visual stethoscopes) in the diagnosis of peripheral lung disease., Methods: We conducted a systematic search of literature comparing the diagnostic accuracy of truly hand-held ultrasound devices compared to conventional high-end ultrasound devices, chest X-rays, thoracic CT (computer tomography), or physical examinations to diagnose peripheral lung lesions. ScienceDirect, PubMed, and PubMed Central bibliographic databases were searched within a time limit of 15 years., Results: The applied search strategy retrieved 439 studies after removing duplicates; 34 were selected for full-text review, and 15 articles met all inclusion criteria and were included in the analysis. When comparing hand-held ultrasound devices to chest X-rays, negative predictive values were above 90%, while positive predictive values tended to be lower (from 35% to 75.8%). Hand-held ultrasound reached a correlation of 0.99 as associated with conventional ultrasound with a Bland-Altman bias close to zero., Conclusions: Being accessible, radiation-free, and comparatively easy to decontaminate, hand-held ultrasound devices could represent a reliable tool for evaluating peripheral lung diseases. This method can be successfully employed as an alternative to repeated X-ray examinations for peripheral lung disease monitoring.

Purpose: The study aims to determine the diagnostic value of high-resolution ultrasonography (US) compared with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for the evaluation of temporomandibular disorders (TMD)., Methods: Fifty consecutive patients (42 female and 8 male) with signs and symptoms of TMD according to the Research Diagnostic Criteria for TMD were enrolled in the study. Each patient underwent US (13 and 20 MHz) and MRI examination of both TMJs, 1-7 days following clinical examination. All MRI examinations were performed by another radiologist using an 1.5 T MRI device. Sensitivity (Se), specificity (Sp), positive and negative predictive values (PPV, NPV) and diagnostic accuracy were computed along with 95% confidence intervals., Results: For overall disc displacements, 13 MHz US showed a Se of 72.58%, Sp of 86.84%, PPV of 90%, NPV of 66% and diagnostic accuracy of 78%, while 20 MHz US showed a Se of 75.81%, Sp of 86.84%, PPV of 90.38%, NPV of 68.75% and a diagnostic accuracy of 80%. For degenerative changes, 13 MHz US revealed a Se of 58.33%, Sp of 92.11%, PPV of 70%, NPV of 87.5% and a diagnostic accuracy of 84%, whereas 20 MHz US indicated the same Se of 58.33%, Sp of 93.42%, PPV of 73.68%, NPV of 87.65% and a diagnostic accuracy of 85%. The Cohen's Kappa coefficient for the intra- and inter-observer agreement was 0.822 and 0.836 for disc displacement, respectively 0.813 and 0.788 for degenerative disorders (p < 0.001)., Conclusions: High-resolution US could be a useful imaging technique in diagnosing TMJ disc displacements., (Copyright © 2020 Elsevier B.V. High-grade gliomas (HGGs) and solitary brain metastases (BMs) have similar imaging appearances, which often leads to misclassification. In HGGs, the surrounding tissues show malignant invasion, while BMs tend to displace the adjacent area. The surrounding edema produced by the two cannot be differentiated by conventional magnetic resonance (MRI) examinations. Forty-two patients with pathology-proven brain tumors who underwent conventional pretreatment MRIs were retrospectively included (HGGs, n = 16; BMs, n = 26). Texture analysis of the peritumoral zone was performed on the T2-weighted sequence using dedicated software. The most discriminative texture features were selected using the Fisher and the probability of classification error and average correlation coefficients. The ability of texture parameters to distinguish between HGGs and BMs was evaluated through univariate, receiver operating, and multivariate analyses. The first percentile and wavelet energy texture parameters were independent predictors of HGGs (75-87.5% sensitivity, 53.85-88.46% specificity). The prediction model consisting of all parameters that showed statistically significant results at the univariate analysis was able to identify HGGs with 100% sensitivity and 66.7% specificity. Texture analysis can provide a quantitative description of the peritumoral zone encountered in solitary brain tumors, that can provide adequate differentiation between HGGs and BMs.

The diagnosis and management of temporomandibular disorders (TMD) require both clinical and imaging examinations of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). A variety of modalities can be used to image the TMJ, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), cone beam CT, ultrasonography, conventional radiography. The present review outlines the indications of the most frequently used imaging techniques in TMD diagnosis. Because of the anatomic complexity of the TMJ, imaging can be difficult. Choosing the proper imaging technique is essential. Conventional radiography, nowadays, is of limited interest. The use of flat plane films for TMJ pathology is not sufficient, because this joint requires three dimensional imaging views. Osseous changes are better visualized with CT and cone beam CT. Cone beam CT provides high-resolution multiplanar reconstruction of the TMJ, with a low radiation dose, without superimposition of the bony structures. MRI is a noninvasive technique, considered to be the gold standard in imaging the soft tissue components of the TMJ. MRI is used to evaluate the articular disc in terms of location and morphology. Moreover, the early signs of TMD and the presence of joint effusion can be determined. High-resolution ultrasonography is a noninvasive, dynamic, inexpensive imaging technique, which can be useful in diagnosing TMJ disc displacements. The diagnostic value of high-resolution ultrasonography is strictly dependent on the examiner's skills and on the equipment used.

Aims: The purpose of this study was to determine the diagnostic value of high-resolution ultrasonography (US) in temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disc displacements., Materials and Methods: A number of 74 patients (148 TMJs) with signs and symptoms of TMJ disorders, according to the Research Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders, were included in this study. All patients received US and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of both TMJs 1 to 5 days after the clinical examination. MRI examinations were performed using 1.5 T MRI equipment (Siemens Avanto, Siemens, Erlangen). Ultrasonographic examination was performed on a Hitachi EUB 8500 (Hitachi Medical Corp., Tokyo, Japan) scanner with L 54 M6.5-13 MHz linear transducer., Results: MRI depicted 68 (45.95%) normal joints, 47 (31.76%) with disc displacement with reduction, 33 (22.3%) with disc displacement without reduction and 34 (22.97%) with degenerative changes. US detected 78 (52.7%) normal joints, 37 (25%) with disc displacement with reduction, 33 (22.3%) with disc displacement without reduction and 21 (14.19%) with degenerative changes. Compared to MRI, US showed a sensitivity of 93.1%, specificity of 87.88%, accuracy of 90.32%, a positive predictive value of 87.1% and a negative predictive value of 93.55% for overall diagnosis of disc displacement. The Youden index was 0.81., Conclusions: Based on our results, high-resolution ultrasonography showed high sensitivity, specificity and accuracy in the diagnosis of TMJ disc displacement. It could be a valuable imaging technique in assessing TMJ disc position. The diagnostic value of high-resolution ultrasonography depends strictly on the examiner's skills and on the equipment used.

The importance of ultrasonographic (US) examination in the evaluation of the superficial structures of the head and neck region is increasing due to the widespread availability of modern equipment (such as high-frequency transducers) and modern techniques. In the case of a cervical lesion, ultrasound is usually the first imaging method used to assess the changes. First of all, US is capable of differentiating between cystic and solid structures, and based on the US appearance correlated with the age of the patient, location and growing pattern, the appropriate diagnosis is possible with a high accuracy. The aim of the present paper is to describe the US features of the most common cystic lesions encountered in the head and neck region.

Transient elastography and Acoustic Radiation Force Impulse imaging are useful non-invasive methods for liver stiffness estimation, although both are influenced by food intake. The aim of the work described here was to identify liver stiffness variation after a standardized meal using 2-D shear wave elastography. Liver stiffness was estimated in 31 apparently healthy subjects, under fasting conditions and after a standardized meal (20, 40, 60, 80, 100 and 120 min after food intake). In most of the cases, liver stiffness values increased between 20 and 40 min after the meal (p < 0.05) and then significantly decreased between 60 and 80 min (p < 0.05). At 120 min after food intake, liver stiffness values were significantly lower compared with liver stiffness values under fasting conditions (p < 0.05). Gender, but not body mass index, had an important role in liver stiffness variation after food intake (p < 0.01). In conclusion, to avoid the influence of food intake on liver stiffness estimation, 2-D shear wave elastography should be performed only under fasting conditions., (Copyright © 2016 World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine & Biology. Objective: The primary objective of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of very-high-frequency ultrasound as tool for assessment of skin melanoma by investigation of the correlation between the ultrasound measurement of the thickness of a melanoma and the histopathologically measured Breslow index. The secondary objective was to assess the potential role of real-time elastography in the preoperative evaluation of skin melanoma., Subjects and Methods: The study included 42 cutaneous melanoma lesions in 39 adult subjects examined in the division of ultrasound of a department of radiology between September 2011 and January 2015. Gray-scale sonographic features at 40 MHz (thickness, echogenicity, contour) and real-time strain elastographic (qualitative and semiquantitative, strain ratio) characteristics were evaluated and compared with the pathologic results., Results: The melanoma lesions had a homogeneous hypoechoic appearance with a regular contour and stiff or medium consistency. The mean difference between Breslow index and ultrasound thickness was -0.05 mm (95% CI, -0.24 to 0.13 mm), sustaining the absence of significant differences between these two measurements. A strong relation was identified between real-time elastographic appearance and strain ratio for the relations between lesion and hypodermis and between lesion and neighboring dermis (p < 0.002) or hypodermis., Conclusion: Our study showed that very-high-frequency ultrasound and real-time elastography can be useful examinations for comprehensive preoperative evaluation of cutaneous melanoma.

The objective of our study was to investigate glycemic, oxidative/antioxidative and inflammatory status in letrozole and estradiol valerate induced polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) models. Sixty adult female Wistar rats were divided into four groups: L (0.2 mg letrozole/0.5 ml carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), daily for 30 days), the control group CL, EV (one i.m. injection of 5 mg EV/0.5 ml sesame oil) and its corresponding control group CEV. After 30 days, ovarian morphology was assessed through ultrasound, serum free testosterone was determined, and an oral glucose tolerance test was performed. Blood, muscle, liver and periovarian adipose tissue (POAT) were collected for oxidative/antioxidative and inflammatory status evaluation. Free testosterone was increased only in the L group, while fasting glycemia was higher in the EV group. Both L and EV led to a significantly decreased level of muscle malondialehyde (MDA) and liver glutathione peroxidase (GPx) activity, while in POAT, MDA level diminished and GPx activity increased. The only difference between the two protocols was in muscle, where after L administration, GPx activity was significantly lower. Implementation of both protocols resulted in an increased expression of pNFKB in muscle, liver and POAT. The expression of monocyte chemoattractant protein 1 (MCP1) increased in liver and POAT after L administration, while in the EV group, MCP1 and STAT3 decreased in POAT. Our study shows that both protocols are characterized by an inflammatory environment in the usually insulin resistant tissues of human PCOS, without generating oxidative stress. In addition, EV has mild metabolic effects and unexpected interference with MCP1 expression in POAT, which require further investigation., (© 2016 Society for Reproduction and Fertility.)

Desmoplastic fibroma (DF) is a very rare bone tumor, classified as a benign lesion. It might be locally a very aggressive tumor with a high rate of recurrence after surgical resection. We present a case of a 3-year and 6 month-old patient, with mandibular desmoplastic fibroma. The clinical, imaging, histological findings and surgical treatment are discussed and, also, a brief review of the literature of DF is presented. The purpose of this case report is to emphasize the particularity of the case, ultrasound findings and the main differential diagnostic of this rare bone tumor.

Purpose: The aim of the study was to explore the diagnostic value of three different sonoelastographic scoring systems (labeled S1-S3) for the differentiation between benign and malignant cervical lymph nodes., Materials and Method: The authors propose a six pattern scoring system of the elastographic images with pattern 1 - representing purely soft nodes, pattern 2 - predominantly soft nodes, pattern 3 - predominantly soft nodes with focal had area, pattern 4 - predominantly hard node, pattern 5 - entirely hard node and pattern 6 - node with necrosis. The sonoelastographic images of 50 benign and 70 malignant lymph nodes were assessed. The area under the ROC curve (AUROC) for the differentiation between benign vs. malignant and benign vs. metastatic nodes were analyzed for the three scoring systems., Results: When all the malignant lymph nodes were considered, the S1 score showed an AUROC=0.873 (95%CI [0.805-0.918], where CI=confidence interval; p<0.001), sensibility (Se)=58.57%, and specificity (Sp)=96%. For S2 score the AUROC was 0.890 (95%CI [0.824-0.933], p<0.001), Se=92.86%, and Sp=72%. For S3 score, the AUROC was 0.852 (95%CI [0.778-0.902], p<0.001), Se=64.29%, and Sp=94%). When lymphomatous nodes were excluded, for S1 the AUROC was 0.884 (95%CI [0.809-0.932], p<0.001), Se=64%, and Sp=96%. For S2 the AUROC was 0.894 (95%CI [0.818-0.939], p<0.001), Se=92%, and Sp=72%. For S3, the AUROC was 0.856 (95%CI [0.771-0.911], p<0.001), Se=66%, and Sp=94%. In the S3 scoring system, setting the benign vs. malignant cut off at pattern 3 increases the sensibility (41-65%) with minimal loss of specificity (96-94%). From the gray-scale and Doppler criteria, changes of the nodular margins and the presence of the vessels in the cortical part of the lymph node showed both very high sensibility and specificity, the others criteria taken into account had either very good sensibility with low specificity or high specificity and low sensibility., Conclusions: Our study suggests that there are no significant differences between the three scoring systems in terms of overall diagnostic value., (Copyright © 2015 Elsevier Ireland Ltd. The localization of cervical lymph nodes is extremely important in practice for the positive and differential diagnosis as well as the staging of cervical lymphadenopathies. Ultrasonography represents the first line imaging method in the diagnosis of cervical lymphadenopathies due to its excellent resolution and high diagnosis accuracy. The present paper aims to illustrate the ultrasonographic identification of the anatomical landmarks used for the definition of cervical lymphatic spaces. The application of standardized views allows a delineation of clear anatomical landmarks and an accurate localization of the cervical lymph nodes.

Objective: The aim of this study is to explore the diagnostic value of sonoelastography for the differentiation between benign and malignant superficial lymph nodes of the neck. In this respect the utility of an original scoring system was explored., Material and Method: Over a period of 30 months the patients examined routinely for the assessment of superficial lymph nodes of the neck were recorded in a data base containing grey-scale, Doppler and sonoelastographic information and images. The sonoelastographic images of 30 benign and 39 malignant lymph nodes were assessed. The images were scored according to a new, eight pattern scoring system proposed by our group. Interobserver agreement and area under the ROC curve (AUROC) for the differentiation between benign vs. malignant and benign vs. metastatic nodes were analyzed., Results: The analysis of the interobserver agreement for the investigated score provided a weighted Kappa = 0.687, 95%CI [0.572 to 0.802] and standard error = 0.059. In the differentiation benign - malignant, the AUROC was 0.846, with sensitivity of 66.67% and specificity of 96.67% for score &gt; 3. In the differentiation between benign and metastasis, the same criterion provided an AUROC of 0.855, with sensitivity of 71.43 and specificity of 96.67%., Conclusions: Our study suggests that applying the proposed score provides good interobserver agreement. The score also provided very good specificity and reasonable sensitivity in the differentiation between malignant and benign lymph nodes in the neck.
