Introduction: Changpu Yujin Tang(CPYJT), a Chinese herbal compound, is an effective therapeutic strategy for pediatric patients with Tourette disorder (TD). Therefore, this work aims to investigate the therapeutic mechanisms of CPYJT., Methods: Behavioral and cellular ultrastructural evaluation of the therapeutic effects of CPYJT in TD model rats. Colorimetric methods, reverse transcription‑quantitative PCR, and Western Blot were used to measure the altered levels of GLU, GABA, and the levels of VGLUT1, GLUD1, GABRA3, and GAD65 in the cortex, striatum, and thalamus of the TD model rats after 7, 14, 21, and 28 days of CPYJT administration., Results: CPYJT significantly reduced stereotypic behavior and motor behavior scores in TD model rats. CPYJT ameliorates myelin structural damage in TD model rat neuronal cells. CPYJT decreased GLU content, elevated GABA content, decreased GLUD1 and VGLUT1 levels, and elevated GAD65 and GABRA3 levels in TD model rats' cortex, striatum, and thalamus. CPYJT has different regulatory time points in the cortex, striatum, and thalamus for critical factors of amino acid-based neurotransmission., Conclusion: CPYJT protects behavioral and structural damage of neuronal cells in multiple brain regions in TD model rats., (© 2024. Objective: To evaluate the bioequivalence of two different afatinib dimaleate formulations in healthy Chinese subjects under fasting conditions and to assess their pharmacokinetic and safety profiles., Materials and Methods: This randomized, open-label, 2-period, crossover, bioequivalence study included 32 healthy Chinese subjects. The subjects were assigned to receive a single 40-mg dose of generic or brand-named afatinib dimaleate tablet. Blood samples were collected pre-dose and up to 120 hours after dosing. Healthy subjects orally took the trial preparation (T) (afatinib maleate tablets developed by Jiangxi Shanxiang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Gan Zhou, China) and the reference preparation (R) (afatinib maleate tablets developed by Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma GmbH & Co., Ingelheim, Germany) under fasting conditions in the appropriate period according to the randomization. We measured the blood concentrations, calculated the pharmacokinetic parameters of the two preparations in the human body, and evaluated whether formulations were bioequivalent. Safety of the preparations in healthy subjects was monitored during the whole trial. Safety assessment was conducted by vital signs, physical examination, laboratory examination, and 12-lead electrocardiogram during the study, i.e., from the time the subject received the test drug to the end of the last visit., Results: Under fasting conditions, the 90% confidence intervals (CIs) of the geometric mean ratios of the test/reference for afatinib dimaleate were 93.34 - 103.92% for AUC 0-t , 90.26 - 105.52% for C max , and 93.49 - 104.05% for AUC 0-∞ ., Conclusion: The 90% CI for the geometric mean ratios (test/reference) of C max , AUC 0-t , and AUC 0-∞ were within the range of 80.00 - 125.00%, indicating that the test formulation was equivalent to the reference formulation in healthy Chinese subjects under fasting conditions. Both products were similar in terms of safety.

Although Platinum (Pt)-based alloys have garnered significant interest within the realm of direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs), there still exists a notable dearth in the exploration of the catalytic behavior of the liquid fuels on well-defined active sites and unavoidable Pt poisoning because of the adsorbed CO species (CO ads ). Here, we propose an electronegativity-induced electronic redistribution strategy to optimize the adsorption of crucial intermediates for the methanol oxidation reaction (MOR) by introducing the Co element to form the PtCo alloys. The optimal PtCo hollow nanospheres (HNSs) exhibit excellent high-quality activity of 3.27 A mg Pt -1 , which is 11.6 times and 13.1 times higher than that of Pt/C and pure Pt, respectively. The in-situ Fourier transform infrared reflection spectroscopy validates that electron redistribution could weak CO adsorption, and subsequently decrease the CO poisoning adjacent the Pt active sites. Theoretical simulations result show that the introduction of Co optimize surface electronic structure and reduce the d-band center of Pt, thus optimized the adsorption behavior of CO ads . Oligodendrocytes are the myelinating cells of the central nervous system. Brain injury and neurodegenerative disease often lead to oligodendrocyte death and subsequent demyelination-related pathological changes, resulting in neurological defects and cognitive impairment (Spaas et al., 2021; Zhang J et al., 2022). Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a major demyelinating disease of the central nervous system. The pathology of MS is characterized by the loss of myelin, oligodendrocytes, and axons in the brain, brain stem, and spinal cord, as well as by white matter lesions (Lassmann et al., 2007). Unfortunately, no definitive cure for MS has been developed. Immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory drugs are effective in the relapsing-remitting phase of MS because they reduce the frequency of relapses and the formation of inflammatory lesions; however, they do not alter the course of progressive MS and are insufficient to cure chronic neurological dysfunction (Xiao et al., 2015; Zhang et al., 2021). The treatment outcome is even worse for MS patients with primary and secondary progressions. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are stromal cells that can self-renew and exhibit multilineage differentiation. MSCs are easy to expand in vitro and exhibit low immunogenicity, no tumorigenic risks, and ethical controversies, making them a promising candidate for regenerative medicine (Zhang L et al., 2022; Xu et al., 2023). Many studies have confirmed the neural differentiation potential of MSCs under certain conditions, making them a prime candidate for treating neurodegenerative diseases (Jang et al., 2010; Yan et al., 2013). The present study investigated the effects of cranial bone-marrow mesenchymal stem cells (cBMMSCs) and oligodendrocyte-specific protein 2-positive (Olig2 + ) single-colony-derived cBMMSC (sc-cBMMSC), isolated in our previous work (Yang et al., 2022), in a central nervous system demyelination mouse model.

Background: Cryptococcus neoformans is an opportunistic fungal pathogen widely distributed in nature, commonly found in soil and bird droppings such as pigeons. Cryptococcal osteomyelitis is usually found in immunocompromised patients, in an unusual condition Cryptococcus invades the bone. It usually occurs as a part of disseminated infection and is rarely isolated, and isolated cryptococcal osteomyelitis of the radius is rarer., Case Presentation: We report a case of a 41-year-old woman with no underlying disease who presented with progressive distal swelling of the left forearm. The patient was initially suspected by local doctors of a malignant bone tumor. For further diagnosis, we performed a computed tomography-guided biopsy of the radius and found granulomatous inflammation with massive macrophage infiltration and a specific stain showing mycosis. Genetic testing revealed a high abundance of Cryptococcus neoformans . We performed debridement of the radius and filled the bone defect with antifungal calcium sulfate. Fluconazole was taken orally for 3 months after operation. No recurrence was found in the 15-month follow-up., Conclusion: It is the second case of Cryptococcus osteomyelitis as the only manifestation of extrapulmonary disease since 1973. Ectopic eruption of the second permanent molar is a tooth replacement disorder during adolescence. If not treated in time, it can cause hard tissue of the adjacent first molar resorption, early tooth loss, decreased chewing efficiency, and other serious malocclusions. Timely detection and treatment of ectopic eruption of the second permanent molar are of great significance in preventing malocclusions in adolescents and establishing normal occlusion relationships. However, current case reports on the ectopic eruption of the mandibular second molar are relatively rare and are mostly concentrated on surgical and orthodontic treatments, and long-term follow-up is lacking. This paper reports a case in which brass wire ligation was used to treat ectopic eruption of the mandibular second permanent molar, allowing the permanent teeth to erupt smoothly and establish a normal occlusion. The patient was observed for five years after the operation. The occlusion was stable, and the tooth root development, pulp vitality, and periodontal conditions were normal. This paper provides a clinical approach that is short in treatment duration, simple, and minimally invasive for young mandibular second permanent molars with moderate mesial inclination and partial eruption. This method is of importance in helping children establish physiological occlusion.

A Pickering emulsion was synergistically stabilised with zein nanoparticles (ZNPs) and starch nanocrystals (SNCs) to prepare it for menthol loading. After response surface optimisation of the emulsion preparation conditions, a Pickering emulsion prepared with a ZNPs:SNCs ratio of 1:1, a particle concentration of 2 wt% and a water:oil ratio of 1:1 provided the highest menthol encapsulation rate of the emulsions tested (83%) with good storage stability within 30 days. We examined the bilayer interface structure of the emulsion by optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and confocal laser scanning microscopy. The results of simulated digestion experiments showed that the release rate of free fatty acid was 75.06 ± 1.23%, which ensured bioavailability. At the same time, the emulsions facilitated the slow release of menthol. Bacteriostatic studies revealed that the Pickering emulsion had a protective effect on menthol, with the most significant inhibitory effects on Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus under the same conditions. Palladium hydrides (PdH x ) are pivotal in both fundamental research and practical applications across a wide spectrum. PdH x nanocrystals, synthesized by heating in dimethylformamide (DMF), exhibit remarkable stability, granting them widespread applications in the field of electrocatalysis. However, this stability appears inconsistent with their metastable nature. The substantial challenges in characterizing nanoscale structures contribute to the limited understanding of this anomalous phenomenon. Here, through a series of well-conceived experimental designs and advanced characterization techniques, including aberration-corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy (AC-STEM), in situ X-ray diffraction (XRD), and time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (TOF-SIMS), we have uncovered evidence that indicates the presence of C and N within the lattice of Pd (PdC x N y ), rather than H (PdH x ). By combining theoretical calculations, we have thoroughly studied the potential configurations and thermodynamic stability of PdC x N y , demonstrating a 2.5:1 ratio of C to N infiltration into the Pd lattice. Furthermore, we successfully modulated the electronic structure of Pd nanocrystals through C and N doping, enhancing their catalytic activity in methanol oxidation reactions. This breakthrough provides a new perspective on the structure and composition of Pd-based nanocrystals infused with light elements, paving the way for the development of advanced catalytic materials in the future.

Despite being the most widespread blister beetle subfamily, Nemognathinae is unfairly understudied in China. In this study, a new genus and species, Sinostenoria yangi Pan, from northern China is described and illustrated. The antennae, elytra, hind wings, and claws of the new genus form a truly unique set of characteristics never observed in other genera of Nemognathini Laporte de Castelnau, 1840. Three species from China are newly recorded and illustrated: Megatrachelus sibiricus (Tauscher, 1812), Zonitomorpha dollei (Fairmaire 1889), and Stenodera djakonovi Aksentjev, 1978. The genus Oreomeloe Tan, 1981, is transferred from the tribe Meloini Gyllenhal, 1910, to Nemognathini based on an examination of the types. Aiming to test the morphology-based placement of the new genus, we conducted molecular phylogenetic analyses using two mitochondrial ( COI , 16S ) and three nuclear markers ( 28S , CAD , ITS2 ). The results confirm our tribal assignment of the new genus and support a clade that consists of Sinostenoria gen. n. , Longizonitis Pan and Bologna, 2018, Stenoria cf. grandiceps , and Ctenopus cf. persicus .

Background: ChangPu YuJin Tang (CPYJT) is a Chinese herbal formula that has been shown to be an effective therapeutic strategy for pediatric patients with Tourette Syndrome (TS). Using an integrated strategy of network pharmacology and animal model, the aim of this study was to investigate the mechanism of CPYJT in the treatment of TS., Methods: Compound libraries of CPYJT were established using databases, such as the Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology Database and Analysis Platform (TCMSP). The TCMSP database and Swiss Target Prediction database were used to predict the targets. The above results were constructed into a CPYJT-Drug-Component-Target network. Moreover, TS targets were predicted using GeneCards and other databases. The targets corresponding to the potential ingredients in CPYJT and the targets corresponding to TS were taken as the intersections to construct the CPYJT-TS network. The target network was analysed by PPI using the string database. GO and KEGG enrichment analyses were performed on the target network. The whole process was performed using Cytoscape 3.7.2 to make visual network diagrams of the results. CPYJT was characterised by Ultra-Performance Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry (UHPLC-MS). Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) was used to observe the structural changes of CPYJT on the neuronal cells of the IDPN model rats. RT-PCR and Western Blot were used to analyse the changes in the mRNA and protein expression levels of BDNF, TrkB, PI3K, and AKT in the cortex, striatum, and thalamus brain regions after CPYJT administration in IDPN model rats., Results: Network pharmacology and UHPLC-MS studies revealed that CPYJT acted on the TS through multiple neurotransmitters and the BDNF/TrkB and PI3K/AKT signalling pathways. CPYJT ameliorated neurocellular structural damage in the cortex, striatum, and thalamus of TS model rats. Additionally, CPYJT up-regulated the levels of BDNF, TrkB, PI3k, and AKT in the cortex, striatum, and thalamus of TS model rats., Conclusion: It was found that CPYJT protected neuronal cells from structural damage in multiple brain regions and affected the expression levels of BDNF, TrkB, PI3K, and Akt in the cortex, striatum, and thalamus during TS treatment., (Copyright© Bentham Science Publishers; For any queries, please email at epub@benthamscience.net.)

Bisphenol A (BPA), an acknowledged endocrine disrupter, is easily exposed to humans via food packaging and container. However, a consensus has not been reached on the extent to which BPA exposure affects the reproductive system. We therefore conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis to elucidate the relationship between BPA exposure and male reproduction-related indicators. Up to October 2023, a comprehensive search was carried out in the PubMed, Embase, Cochrane and Web of Science, and 18 studies were ultimately included. β coefficients from multivariate linear regression analyses were pooled using a random effects model. The results showed that the urinary BPA concentration was negatively correlated with the sperm concentration (β coefficient = -0.03; 95% CI: -0.06 to -0.01; I 2 = 0.0%, p = 0.003) and total sperm count (β coefficient = -0.05; 95% CI: -0.08 to -0.02; I 2 = 0.0%, p < 0.001). In addition, BPA concentrations were associated with increased sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) levels, increased estradiol (E 2 ) levels, and reduced biologically active androgen levels. However, the relationship between an increased risk of below-reference sperm quality and BPA exposure was not robust. This systematic review revealed that BPA exposure disrupts reproductive hormones, reduces sperm counts and may ultimately adversely affect male reproduction.

Higher-order structures, consisting of more than two individuals, provide a new perspective to reveal the missed non-trivial characteristics under pairwise networks. Prior works have researched various higher-order networks, but research for evaluating the effects of higher-order structures on network functions is still scarce. In this paper, we propose a framework to quantify the effects of higher-order structures (e.g., 2-simplex) and vital functions of complex networks by comparing the original network with its simplicial model. We provide a simplicial model that can regulate the quantity of 2-simplices and simultaneously fix the degree sequence. Although the algorithm is proposed to control the quantity of 2-simplices, results indicate it can also indirectly control simplexes more than 2-order. Experiments on spreading dynamics, pinning control, network robustness, and community detection have shown that regulating the quantity of 2-simplices changes network performance significantly. In conclusion, the proposed framework is a general and effective tool for linking higher-order structures with network functions. Loeffler endocarditis, eosinophilic endocarditis or eosinophilic endomyocardial disease are conditions associated with hypereosinophilia and they affect the heart function. Loeffler endocarditis is a rare endomyocardial disorder thought to be caused by eosinophilic damage. The disorder is characterized by inflammatory infiltration, formation of thrombus within cardiovascular system, and ultimately fibrosis of the afflicted area. It can lead to multiple severe complications, including thromboembolic disease, thickening of fibrous tissue in the endocardium of ventricles, valve involvement, apical obliteration, and various heart disorders. Although early clinical intervention can lead to remission, the underlying mechanisms of the disorder remain unresolved. In the present article, we summarise the existing literature concerning Loeffler endocarditis based on PubMed, Web of Science, and other medical databases to conduct an in-depth review of the epidemiology, etiology, pathophysiological mechanisms, staging, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of Loeffler endocarditis. Meanwhile, we provide novel patients data and clinical figures of Loeffler endocarditis to supplement the understanding of this cardiac disorder. Diverse higher-order structures, foundational for supporting a network's "meta-functions", play a vital role in structure, functionality, and the emergence of complex dynamics. Nevertheless, the problem of dismantling them has been consistently overlooked. In this paper, we introduce the concept of dismantling higher-order structures, with the objective of disrupting not only network connectivity but also eradicating all higher-order structures in each branch, thereby ensuring thorough functional paralysis. Given the diversity and unknown specifics of higher-order structures, identifying and targeting them individually is not practical or even feasible. Fortunately, their close association with k -cores arises from their internal high connectivity. Thus, we transform higher-order structure measurement into measurements on k -cores with corresponding orders. Furthermore, we propose the Belief Propagation-guided Higher-order Dismantling (BPHD) algorithm, minimizing dismantling costs while achieving maximal disruption to connectivity and higher-order structures, ultimately converting the network into a forest. BPHD exhibits the explosive vulnerability of network higher-order structures, counterintuitively showcasing decreasing dismantling costs with increasing structural complexity. Our findings offer a novel approach for dismantling malignant networks, emphasizing the substantial challenges inherent in safeguarding against such malicious attacks.

Understanding the heterogeneous role of individuals in large-scale information spreading is essential to manage online behavior as well as its potential offline consequences. To this end, most existing studies from diverse research domains focus on the disproportionate role played by highly connected 'hub' individuals. However, we demonstrate here that information superspreaders in online social media are best understood and predicted by simultaneously considering two individual-level behavioral traits: influence and susceptibility. Specifically, we derive a nonlinear network-based algorithm to quantify individuals' influence and susceptibility from multiple spreading event data. By applying the algorithm to large-scale data from Twitter and Weibo, we demonstrate that individuals' estimated influence and susceptibility scores enable predictions of future superspreaders above and beyond network centrality, and reveal new insights into the network positions of the superspreaders., (© The Author(s) 2024. Objective: Microscopy was used to characterize platelet- Plasmodium -infected erythrocyte interactions in patients infected with Plasmodium falciparum , Plasmodium vivax , Plasmodium ovale or Plasmodium malariae , and to investigate the relationship between platelet-associated parasite killing and parasite clearance., Methods: Data from 244 malaria patients admitted to the Fourth People's Hospital of Nanning between 1 January 2011 and 30 September 2022, and 45 healthy controls, were collected prospectively and assessed retrospectively. Characteristics of platelet-erythrocyte interactions were visualized by microscopy, and blood cell count and clinical profiles of these participants were obtained from the electronic medical records. ANOVA, contingency tables and Cox proportional hazards regression models were used to do statistical analysis on the subgroups., Results: Platelet enlargement and minor pseudopodia development were observed. Platelets were found directly attaching to parasitized erythrocytes by all Plasmodium species studied, especially mature stages, and lysis of parasitized erythrocytes was connected to platelet-mediated cytolysis. Platelet counts were correlated inversely with parasitaemia and duration of parasite clearance. Artemisinin combination therapy was more effective than artemisinin alone in clearing Plasmodium in patients with thrombocytopenia., Conclusions: Platelet-parasitized erythrocytes cell-to-cell contacts initiated platelet-associated parasite killing and helped to limit Plasmodium infection in cases of human malaria. The weakening platelet-associated parasite killing effects could be counteracted by artemisinin combination therapy in patients with thrombocytopenia.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) variants are a fatal pathogen resulting in substantial morbidity and mortality, and posing a great threat to human health with epidemics and pandemics., Methods: Next-generation sequencing (NGS) was performed to investigate the SARS-CoV-2 genomic characterization. Phylogenetic analysis of SARS-CoV-2 genomes was used to probe the evolutionary. Homology protein structure modelling was done to explore potential effect of the mutations., Results: The eighty genome sequences of SARS-CoV-2 obtained from the thirty-nine patients with COVID-19. A novel variant with mutation H625R concomitant with S50L in spike glycoprotein had been identified. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that SARS-CoV-2 variants belong to several distinct lineages. Homology modelling indicated that variant with mutation H625R and S50L increases flexibility of S1 subunit., Conclusions: SARS-CoV-2 genomes are constantly evolving by accumulation of point mutations. Objective: To review antibacterial/osteogenesis dual-functional surface modification strategy of titanium-based implants, so as to provide reference for subsequent research., Methods: The related research literature on antibacterial/osteogenesis dual-functional surface modification strategy of titanium-based implants in recent years was reviewed, and the research progress was summarized based on different kinds of antibacterial substances and osteogenic active substances., Results: At present, the antibacterial/osteogenesis dual-functional surface modification strategy of titanium-based implants includes: ① Combined coating strategy of antibiotics and osteogenic active substances. It is characterized in that antibiotics can be directly released around titanium-based implants, which can improve the bioavailability of drugs and reduce systemic toxicity. ② Combined coating strategy of antimicrobial peptides and osteogenic active substances. The antibacterial peptides have a wide antibacterial spectrum, and bacteria are not easy to produce drug resistance to them. ③ Combined coating strategy of inorganic antibacterial agent and osteogenic active substances. Metal ions or metal nanoparticles antibacterial agents have broad-spectrum antibacterial properties and various antibacterial mechanisms, but their high-dose application usually has cytotoxicity, so they are often combined with substances that osteogenic activity to reduce or eliminate cytotoxicity. In addition, inorganic coatings such as silicon nitride, calcium silicate, and graphene also have good antibacterial and osteogenic properties. ④ Combined coating strategy of metal organic frameworks/osteogenic active substances. The high specific surface area and porosity of metal organic frameworks can effectively package and transport antibacterial substances and bioactive molecules. ⑤ Combined coating strategy of organic substances/osteogenic active substancecs. Quaternary ammonium compounds, polyethylene glycol, N-haloamine, and other organic compounds have good antibacterial properties, and are often combined with hydroxyapatite and other substances that osteogenic activity., Conclusion: The factors that affect the antibacterial and osteogenesis properties of titanium-based implants mainly include the structure and types of antibacterial substances, the structure and types of osteogenesis substances, and the coating process. At present, there is a lack of clinical verification of various strategies for antibacterial/osteogenesis dual-functional surface modification of titanium-based implants. The optimal combination, ratio, dose-effect mechanism, and corresponding coating preparation process of antibacterial substances and bone-active substances are needed to be constantly studied and improved.

Null models are crucial tools for investigating network topological structures. However, research on null models for higher-order networks is still relatively scarce. In this study, we introduce an innovative method to construct null models for hypergraphs, namely the hyperedge swapping-based method. By preserving certain network properties while altering others, we generate six hyper-null models with various orders and analyze their interrelationships. To validate our approach, we first employ hypergraph entropy to assess the randomness of these null models across four datasets. Furthermore, we examine the differences in important statistical properties between the various null models and the original networks. Lastly, we investigate the impact of hypergraph randomness on network dynamics using the proposed hyper-null models, focusing on dismantling and epidemic contagion. The findings show that our proposed hyper-null models are applicable to various scenarios. By introducing a comprehensive framework for generating and analyzing hyper-null models, this research opens up avenues for further exploration of the intricacies of network structures and their real-world implications.

Ovomucin (OVM) is an ideal natural macromolecular glycoprotein extracted from eggs with good adhesion. Based on the defect that glycyrrhizin (GL) has good antiviral activity but fast metabolism, this study aimed to explore the binding effect and mechanism of GL to OVM, using multi-spectroscopic techniques, isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC), and molecular docking. The adhesion ability of OVM to the hydrophilic interface and GL was first demonstrated by dual polarization interferometry (DPI) analysis and binding capacity assay, and the OVM-GL complex exhibited a similar affinity for the spike protein of COVID-19. The spectroscopic results show that GL can quench the inherent fluorescence and change the glycosidic bond and secondary structure of OVM. The ITC measurements suggested that the binding was exothermic, the hydrogen bond was the dominant binding force for forming OVM-GL. Finally, molecular docking results indicated that GL has hydrogen bond interaction with several amino acid residues located in α-OVM and β-OVM while embedding into the hydrophobic pocket of OVM via hydrophobic interactions. Decentralized waste treatment facilities are recently highlighted for the treatment of solid waste in rural areas for being cheap, flexible, and reliable. Among them, decentralized composting is most commonly used. Many forms of decentralized composting facilities also develop and apply in developing countries, but the environmental and economical performances remain unknown. Therefore, this study analyzed the environmental impacts and cost of a decentralized composting facility through life cycle assessment and life cycle cost. The functional unit was the construction, operation, and demolition the composting facility. Contribution and sensitivity analysis were also performed to find out the most influential processes and parameters. The facility had a 10-year designed life span and could treat about 5840 t organic waste in its life cycle. The life cycle environmental impacts were 646,700 kg CO 2 -eq, 8980 kg SO 2 -eq, -28 kg P-eq, 7.09 × 10 -3 CTUh, 0.13 CTUh, and 16,754 kg oil-eq for climate change, terrestrial acidification, freshwater eutrophication, human toxicity cancer effects, human toxicity non-cancer effects, and fossil resources scarce, respectively. The life cycle cost was 1080.925 k CNY. When scaling to treating 1 t organic waste, the environmental impacts were close to those of similar decentralized and centralized composting facilities and the cost was lower than those of centralized biological treatment plants when excluding revenues from compost. According to the contribution and sensitivity analysis, the operation stage had the largest environmental impacts. The composting and compost substitution processes in the operation stage were the most sensitive processes. Link prediction has been widely studied as an important research direction. Higher-order link prediction has gained, in particular, significant attention since higher-order networks provide a more accurate description of real-world complex systems. However, higher-order networks contain more complex information than traditional pairwise networks, making the prediction of higher-order links a formidable challenging task. Recently, researchers have discovered that local features have advantages over long-range features in higher-order link prediction. Therefore, it is necessary to develop more efficient and concise higher-order link prediction algorithms based on local features. In this paper, we proposed two similarity metrics via local information, simplicial decomposition weight and closed ratio weight, to predict possible future higher-order interactions (simplices) in simplicial networks. These two algorithms capture local higher-order information at two aspects: simplex decomposition and cliques' state (closed or open). We tested their performance in eight empirical simplicial networks, and the results show that our proposed metrics outperform other benchmarks in predicting third-order and fourth-order interactions (simplices) in most cases. In addition, we explore the robustness of the proposed algorithms, and the results suggest that the performance of these novel algorithms is advanced under different sizes of training sets., (© 2023 Author(s). Objective: To learn the mechanisms between gut microbiome and the autoimmunity benefits on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in central nervous system (CNS), we investigated the neuro-protection effects and gut mircobiota changes of Heshouwu () on experimental autoimmune encepha-lomyelitis (EAE), an animal model of multiple sclerosis (MS)., Methods: Mice were randomly divided into four groups: EAE mice (control phosphate-buffered saline group), 50 mg·kg·d Heshouwu ()-treated EAE mice, 100 mg·kg·d Heshouwu ()-treated EAE mice, and 200 mg·kg·d Heshouwu ()-treated EAE mice. The spinal cords were stained with hematoxylin and eosin (HE) and luxol fast blue for evaluating inflammatory infiltration and demyelination. The percentages of granulocyte macrophage-colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF)+CD4+, interleukin 17 (IL-17)+CD4+, Foxp3 CD4+, and interferon-γ (IFN-γ)+CD4+ T cells in the inguinal lymph nodes (LNs) and brain were determined by flow cytometry analysis. 16S rRNA gene sequencing was employed to analyze the changes in gut microbiota., Results: We found that Heshouwu () alleviated the disease severity and neuropathology of EAE as evaluated by clinical and histopathologyical scores. Heshouwu () increased the diversity and abundance of the gut microbiota, and decreased / ratio (F/B ratio). Heshouwu () also decreased the concentrations of IL-10, and IL-21 and increase the levels of GM-CSF, IL-17A, IL-17F and IL-22 in serum of EAE mice. Moreover, Heshouwu () modulated the T cell responses by inhibiting Th17 cells and restoring Treg cells in the small intestine lymphoid tissues and inguinal lymph nodes. Microbiota-depleted mice receiving Heshouwu ()-treated fecal microbiota trans-plantation had lower disease severity, neuropathology scores and alleviation of Th17/Treg imbalance compared to ad libitum group., Conclusions: Our findings suggested that the vital neuro-protection role of Heshouwu () (TCM) in immunomodulation effects partly by regulations of gut microbiome.

Objective: To analyze the proper time and method for treatment of prostatic abscess (PA)., Methods: This is a retrospective study that included 18 patients diagnosed with and treated for prostatic abscess between February 2017 and July 2022. After obtaining data from the patients' medical records, we analyzed their clinical features as well as the therapeutic methods opted for and their effectiveness. Results： Of the 18 patients included, one achieved a full recovery after a spontaneous rupture of the abscess. Transrectal ultrasound (TRUS)-guided aspiration was performed in the remaining 17 patients, of whom 14 had a complete resolution after this procedure whereas 3 experienced recurrence. The recurrent cases were successfully managed with transurethral (TU) de-roofing., Conclusion: TRUS-guided aspiration is a treatment modality with a marked curative effect for simple PAs. For refractory abscesses (recurrent, multifocal, incomplete or unsuccessful drainage) or PA located near the urethra, TU de-roofing can be considered as a first choice to shorten the course of the disease and alleviate the medical treatment expenses due to recurrence.

Enhancing the catalytic activity of Ru metal in the hydrogen oxidation reaction (HOR) potential range, improving the insufficient activity of Ru caused by its oxophilicity, is of great significance for reducing the cost of anion exchange membrane fuel cells (AEMFCs). Here, we use Ru grown on Au@Pd as a model system to understand the underlying mechanism for activity improvement by combining direct in situ surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) evidence of the catalytic reaction intermediate (OH ad ) with in situ X-ray diffraction (XRD), electrochemical characterization, as well as DFT calculations. The results showed that the Au@Pd@Ru nanocatalyst utilizes the hydrogen storage capacity of the Pd interlayer to "temporarily" store the activated hydrogen enriched at the interface, which spontaneously overflows at the "hydrogen-deficient interface" to react with OH ad adsorbed on Ru. It is the essential reason for the enhanced catalytic activity of Ru at anodic potential. This work deepens our understanding of the HOR mechanism and provides new ideas for the rational design of advanced electrocatalysts.

The ability to predict the size of information cascades in online social networks is crucial for various applications, including decision-making and viral marketing. However, traditional methods either rely on complicated time-varying features that are challenging to extract from multilingual and cross-platform content, or on network structures and properties that are often difficult to obtain. To address these issues, we conducted empirical research using data from two well-known social networking platforms, WeChat and Weibo. Our findings suggest that the information-cascading process is best described as an activate-decay dynamic process. Building on these insights, we developed an activate-decay (AD)-based algorithm that can accurately predict the long-term popularity of online content based solely on its early repost amount. We tested our algorithm using data from WeChat and Weibo, demonstrating that we could fit the evolution trend of content propagation and predict the longer-term dynamics of message forwarding from earlier data. We also discovered a close correlation between the peak forwarding amount of information and the total amount of dissemination. Finding the peak of the amount of information dissemination can significantly improve the prediction accuracy of our model. Our method also outperformed existing baseline methods for predicting the popularity of information.

Objectives: This work aimed to investigate the molecular mechanism of cyclic tensile stress (CTS) stimulating autophagy in human periodontal ligament cells (hPDLCs)., Methods: hPDLCs were isolated and cultured from normal periodontal tissues. hPDLCs were loaded with tensile stress by force four-point bending extender to simulate the autophagy of hPDLCs induced by orthodontic force du-ring orthodontic tooth movement. XMU-MP-1 was used to inhibit the Hippo signaling pathway to explore the role of the Hippo-YAP signaling pathway in activating hPDLC autophagy by tensile stress. The expression levels of autophagy-related genes (Beclin-1, LC3, and p62) in hPDLCs were detected by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction. Western blot was used to detect the expression levels of autophagy-related proteins (Beclin-1, LC3-Ⅱ/LC3-Ⅰ, and p62) and Hippo-YAP pathway proteins (active-YAP and p-YAP) in hPDLCs. Immunofluorescence was used to locate autophagy-related proteins (LC3-Ⅱand p62) and Hippo-YAP pathway proteins (active-YAP) of hPDLCs., Results: CTS-activated autophagy in hPDLCs and expression of autophagy-related proteins initially increased and then decreased; it began to increase at 30 min, peaked at 3 h, and decreased ( P <0.05). CTS increased the expression of active-YAP protein and decreased the expression of p-YAP protein ( P <0.05). When XMU-MP-1 inhibited the Hippo-YAP signaling pathway ( P <0.05), active-YAP protein was promoted to enter the nucleus and autophagy expression was enhanced ( P <0.05)., Conclusions: The Hippo-YAP signaling pathway is involved in the regulation of autophagy activation in hPDLCs under CTS.

In order to study the chemical characteristics and ion source of groundwater and further serve the scientific development and management of water resources in Shunping County. A total of 33 groups of karst water and 12 groups of pore water samples were collected systematically in Shunping County, and the hydrochemical types, composition characteristics, and main controlling factors of various types of groundwater were analyzed by using Gibbs diagram, ion ratio relation, and multivariate statistical analysis methods, and the contribution rates of various sources to groundwater solutes were evaluated. The results showed that the pore water and karst water in the study area were weakly alkaline, with TDS ranging from 245.89 to 430.00 mg·L -1 and 223.54 to 1347.80 mg·L -1 , respectively. The anion components of groundwater were mainly HCO 3 - and Ca 2+ . Groundwater in the study area could be grouped into PW1 and PW2 pore water and KW1, KW2, and KW3 karst water. PW1 and KW1 were HCO 3 -Ca·Mg type, PW2 was HCO 3 ·Cl-Ca·Mg type, KW2 was HCO 3 ·NO 3 -Ca·Mg type, and KW3 was SO 4 -Ca·Mg type with high salinity. The weathering of carbonate rock mainly composed of dolomite and silicate rock mainly composed of albiar and potassium feldspar were the main material sources of groundwater, and their contributions to each water body were 39.69% to 66.13% and 11.87% to 58.38%. Sewage discharge and fertilizer use in human activities had significant effects on KW2 groundwater and PW1, PW2, and KW1 groundwater, respectively. In addition, the contribution rate of atmospheric precipitation to each water body ranged from 1.09% to 7.94% on average.

Ozonation has gradually become a routine process for advanced wastewater treatment. During the technology innovation on the advanced treatment of wastewater by ozonation, researchers have to assess the performance of abundant new technologies, new reactors, and new materials. However, they are usually puzzled by the rational selection of model pollutants to assess the capability of such new technologies to eliminate the chemical oxygen demand (COD) and total organic carbon (TOC) of practical wastewater. It is unclear how well the various model pollutants reported in the literature could represent the COD/TOC removal of actual wastewater. The rational selection and evaluation of model pollutants for advanced treatment of industrial wastewater is of great significance in establishing the technological standard system for advanced treatment of wastewater via ozonation. Herein, the aqueous solutions (including unbuffered solutions and bicarbonate-buffered solutions) of 19 model pollutants and four practical secondary effluents from industrial parks were investigated through ozonation under identical conditions. The similarity in COD/TOC removal of the above wastewater/solutions were evaluated using mainly clustering analysis. The results showed that the dissimilarity among the model pollutants was greater than that among the actual wastewaters, thus enabling the rational selection of several model pollutants to assess the performance of advanced treatment of wastewater using ozonation by different technologies. The errors of predicting the COD removal of secondary sedimentation tank effluent by ozonation in 60 min using the unbuffered aqueous solutions of ketoprofen (KTP), dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D), and sulfamethazine (SMT) were less than 9%, and those using the bicarbonate-buffered solutions of phenacetin (PNT), SMT, and sucralose were less than 5%. The evolution of pH by using the bicarbonate-buffered solutions was more similar to that in practical wastewater than by using unbuffered aqueous solutions. In the similarity evaluation of COD/TOC removal between the bicarbonate-buffered solutions and the practical wastewaters, the results were almost the same whether considering different input ozone concentration conditions. Therefore, the protocol proposed in this study based on similarity evaluation to assess the performance treating actual wastewater could be extended to different ozone concentration conditions with certain universality.

The phylum Acanthocephala is an important monophyletic group of parasites, with adults parasitic in the digestive tracts of all major vertebrate groups. Acanthocephalans are of veterinary, medical, and economic importance due to their ability to cause disease in domestic animals, wildlife, and humans. However, the current genetic data for acanthocephalans are sparse, both in terms of the proportion of taxa surveyed and the number of genes sequenced. Consequently, the basic molecular phylogenetic framework for the phylum is still incomplete. In the present study, we reported the first complete mitochondrial genome from a representative of the family Pseudoacanthocephalidae Petrochenko, 1956. The mitogenome of Pseudoacanthocephalus bufonis (Shipley, 1903) is 14,056 bp in length, contains 36 genes (12 protein-coding genes (PCGs) (lacking atp8 ), 22 tRNA genes, and 2 rRNA genes ( rrnL and rrnS )) and two non-coding regions ( NCR1 and NCR2 ), and displayed the highest GC-skew in the order Echinorhynchida. Phylogenetic results of maximum likelihood (ML) and Bayesian inference (BI) using the amino acid sequences of 12 protein-coding genes in different models provided further evidence for the resurrection of the family Pseudoacanthocephalidae and also supported that the order Echinorhynchida is paraphyletic. A monophyletic clade comprising P. bufonis and Cavisoma magnum suggests a close affinity between Pseudoacanthocephalidae and Cavisomatidae. Our phylogenetic analyses also showed that Polymorphidae has a closer relationship with Centrorhynchidae than Plagiorhynchidae in the monophyletic order Polymorphida.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Suhuang Zhike capsule in the adjuvant treatment of acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD)., Methods: The database including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database, China Science and Technology Journal Database, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database and Wanfang Data was searched. The retrieval time was from database establishment to May 2021. Randomized controlled trial (RCT) of Suhuang zhike capsule adjuvant treatment for AECOPD was included. The quality of the studies was independently evaluated and cross-checked by two reviewers, and Meta-analysis was performed by using RevMan5.3 software., Results: Thirteen RCT results were included with a total sample number of 1195 cases, including 597 in the experimental group and 598 in the control group. The results showed that Suhuang zhike capsule adjuvant treatment of AECOPD could improve the total clinical effect rate compared with conventional treatment. Suhuang zhike capsule adjuvant treatment could improve forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV), FEV/FVC, peak expiratory flow (PEF) and other pulmonary function indexes; decrease C-reactive protein (CRP), white blood cells, neutrophils and other infectious indicators; besides, the 1-year recurrence rate of the disease was decreased (all 0.05)., Conclusions: Suhuang Zhike capsule can improve the lung function and clinical efficacy of AECOPD, thus increasing the exercise endurance, and reducing the infection and recurrence rate in AECOPD patients.

Objective: To investigate the efficacy and mechanism of Qifu Lizhong enema prescription(, QFLZ) on intervening ulcerative colitis (UC) rat model with TCM spleen and kidney insufficiency syndrome., Methods: Seventy-two male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned to six groups: normal model, mesalazine, and QFLZ high, medium, and low dose groups, each with 12 rats. After 3 d of adaptation feeding, all groups except the normal group were induced using rhubarb decoction in combination with trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid (TNBS)/55 % ethanol to establish a UC rat model. Following successful modeling, the normal and model groups received daily saline enema, while the Chinese medicine and Western medicine groups received daily QFLZ and Mesalazine enema for 2 weeks respectively. The disease activity index score, hematoxylin and eosin staining, immunohistochemistry, and Western blotting were used to determine the expression of claudin 1, claudin 2, zonula occludens-1 protein (ZO-1), and F-actin proteins in each rat colon tissue following treatment., Results: QFLZ significantly alleviated the structural disorganization in the form of epithelial glands in the intestinal mucosa of rats with UC and retarded the progression of the disease. The intestinal mucosal epithelial cells of UC rats showed decreased expression of claudin 1, ZO-1, F-actin ( 0.05), claudin 2 appeared elevated ( 0.05), which resulted in impaired TJ. Treatment with QFLZ resulted in elevated expression of claudin 1 ( 0.05), ZO-1 ( 0.05) and F-actin ( 0.05) and decreased expression of claudin 2 ( 0.05), which allowed for repair of the intestinal mucosal TJ, which in turn served as a treatment for UC., Conclusions: The mechanism of repairing TJ function and repairing the intestinal mucosal barrier by QFLZ may be associated with up-regulation of claudin 1, ZO-1, and F-actin levels, and down-regulation of claudin 2 expression level.

Amorphous metals and alloys are promising candidates for superior catalysts in many catalytic and electrocatalytic reactions. It is of great urgency to develop a general method to construct amorphous alloys and further clarify the growth mechanism in a wet-chemical system. Herein, inspired by the conservation of energy during the crystallization process, amorphous PdCu nanoalloys have been successfully synthesized by promoting the chemical potential of the building blocks in solution. Benefiting from the abundant active sites and enhanced corrosion resistance, the synthesized amorphous PdCu nanostructures exhibit superior catalytic activity and durability over the face-centered cubic one in formic acid decomposition reaction. More importantly, the successful fabrications of amorphous PdFe, PdCo, and PdNi further demonstrate the universality of the above strategy. Radial glial cells (RGCs) play a pivotal role in cerebral cortical development by functioning as a source of new neurons and by supporting the migration of newborn neurons. These functions are primarily dependent on the apical-basolateral structures of radial glial processes. This study aims to investigate the effects of ethanol exposure on the development of radial glial processes and the generation, migration, and transformation of outer radial glial cells (oRGCs). For this purpose, forebrain organoids were developed from human embryonic stem cells. These forebrain organoids contain abundant neural progenitor cells (SOX2 + ), express high levels of neural epithelial markers β-catenin and PKCλ, and dorsal forebrain marker PAX6, and display well-organized cortical architectures containing abundant apical and basal RGCs, intermediate progenitors (IPCs), and neurons. Exposure of forebrain organoids to ethanol resulted in a significant increase in apoptosis in Nestin-positive radial glial cells. Ethanol exposure also remarkably decreased the levels of radial glial process-associated proteins, including Nestin, GFAP, and Vimentin, in radial glial cells and distinctly impaired the integrity and morphologies of radial glial processes. In addition, the ethanol-induced impairment of the radial glial processes is associated with decreased migration and proliferation of radial glial cells, reduction in the generation of HOPX + oRGCs, and the accelerated transformation of oRGCs into astrocytes. The objective of this study was to characterize the lipid class and fatty acid composition of four kinds of marine oils including Phaeodactylum tricornutum oil (PO), Laminaria japonica oil (LO), krill oil (KO) and fish oil (FO), and evaluate their antioxidant capacities in vitro. The results indicated that compared to other three oils, PO showed the highest contents of total lipids and fucoxanthin (194.70 and 7.48 mg/g dry weight, respectively), the relatively higher content of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids including eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) (30.94 % in total fatty acids), and total phenolic content (675.88 mg gallic acid equivalent /100 g lipids), thereby contribute to great advantages in scavenging free radicals such as 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), 2-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzthiazoline)-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS), peroxyl radical, as well as reducing FRAP value. In conclusion, PO should be considered as a potential ingredient for dietary supplement with antioxidant capacity.

In order to study the hydrochemical characteristics and ion sources of pore water in the middle and upper reaches of the Mouwen River, 29 groups of pore-water samples were collected in the Laiwu Basin. The main ion characteristics and their controlling factors of pore-water in this area were analyzed by using correlation and principal component analysis, Piper trigram, and Gibbs diagram methods. The main material sources of pore water in this area were revealed. The results showed that HCO 3 - , NO 3 - were the main anions and cations in the pore water of the middle and upper reaches of the Mouwen River. With TDS >1000 mg·L 4 2- , and Ca 2+ were the main anions and cations in the pore water of the middle and upper reaches of the Mouwen River. With TDS >1000 mg·L -1 as the standard, the normal water chemistry type was mainly HCO 3 ·NO 3 ·SO 4 -Ca and HCO 3 ·SO 4 -Ca·Mg, whereas the abnormal water chemistry type was mainly NO 3 ·Cl-Ca. The chemical evolution of groundwater was mainly influenced by rock weathering, cation alternation adsorption, and human activities. Na + +K + mainly came from silicate weathering and dissolution, and HCO 3 - , Ca 2+ , and Mg 2+ came from calcite weathering and dissolution involving carbonate and sulfuric acid. Alternation adsorption of cations and weathering of silicate rock provided a surplus of Ca 2+ and Mg 2+ for pore water. Industrial and mining activities such as domestic sewage mixing, agricultural planting activities, and iron and coal mining changed the chemical composition of pore water, especially NO 3 - exceeding the standard, which has become the main problem of the local groundwater chemical environment.

All-inorganic cesium lead halides (CsPbX 3 , X  = Cl, Br, I) perovskite quantum dots (PQDs) have attracted extensive research attention due to their unique optical properties. However, their instability and sensitivity to air and moisture hinder further use in fluorescent sensing applications. In this work, the construction and application of PQDs encoded molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs-CsPbX 3 ) for Sudan I detection were proposed. After being encoded the PQDs, the obtained MIPs-CsPbX 3 microspheres exhibited high stability for the external environment, remarkable bright fluorescence, and specific recognition for Sudan I. The fluorescent intensity of the MIPs-CsPbX 3 microspheres was obviously quenched upon loading Sudan I, and good linear responses in the range of 0.5-150 µg L -1 , limit of detection of 0.3 µg L -1 , and good recoveries of 95.27 % to 105.96 % in spiked samples were obtained. A functional response-effect approach could predict how environmental changes affect ecosystem functioning. However, few studies have applied this approach to inner saline-alkaline marsh ecosystems where soil saline-alkaline, flooding/drought and nutrients stresses threat ecological functioning. To disentangle the relationships between environmental conditions and ecosystem functioning, a total of 81 plots were investigated across 22 marsh sites dominated by Phragmites australis and Bolboschoenus planiculmis in Western Songnen Plain wetlands, China. For both plant communities combined, deep flooding supported communities with higher specific leaf area (SLA), plant height and leaf nitrogen (N) content but lower leaf thickness. On the contrary, high soil salt content induced low leaf N and phosphorus (P) content, SLA and plant height. Only light acquisition-related trait, plant height and SLA, was the key traits which determined the relationships between ecosystem functioning (aboveground biomass) and saline-alkaline wetland environment. Yet indirect key traits related nutrient and water acquisition such as leaf thickness, N and P content were also found, and mediated the response of aboveground biomass through the allometric relationships with plant height or SLA. For the individual species community, only plant height was the key trait shared by P. australis and B. planiculmis, indicating the universality of plant height as a key trait for grass and sedge plants to explain how ecosystem functioning responds to abiotic factors. Objective: To review the current research and application progress of three-dimentional (3D) printed porous titanium alloy after tumor resection, and provide direction and reference for the follow-up clinical application and basic research of 3D printed porous titanium alloy., Methods: The related literature on research and application of 3D printed porous titanium alloy after tumor resection in recent years was reviewed from three aspects: performance of simple 3D printed porous titanium alloy, application analysis of simple 3D printed porous titanium alloy after tumor resection, and research progress of anti-tumor 3D printed porous titanium alloy., Results: 3D printing technology can adjust the pore parameters of porous titanium alloy, so that it has the same biomechanical properties as bone. Appropriate pore parameters are conducive to inducing bone growth, promoting the recovery of skeletal system and related functions, and improving the quality of life of patients after operation. Simple 3D printed porous titanium alloy can more accurately match the bone defect after tumor resection through preoperative personalized design, so that it can closely fit the surgical margin after tumor resection, and improve the accuracy and efficiency of the operation. The early and mid-term follow-up results show that its application reduces the postoperative complications such as implant loosening, subsidence, fracture and so on, and enhances the bone stability. The anti-tumor performance of 3D printed porous titanium alloy mainly includes coating and drug-loading treatment of pure 3D printed porous titanium alloy, and some progress has been made in the basic research stage., Conclusion: Simple 3D printed porous titanium alloy is suitable for patients with large and complex bone defects after tumor resection, and the anti-tumor effect of 3D printed porous titanium alloy can be achieved through coating and drug delivery.

The compactness of the oil shale reservoir and the complexity of the pore structure lead to the secondary reaction of kerogen in the process of hydrocarbon expulsion, which reduces the effective recovery of shale oil. In this paper, supercritical carbon dioxide was used as a heat carrier and a displacement medium. In a self-designed fluidized bed experimental system for pressure-controlled pyrolysis of oil shale, the experiments of oil shale pyrolysis under standard atmospheric pressure and 7.8-8.0 MPa pressure in nitrogen and carbon dioxide atmospheres were completed. The extraction efficiency of supercritical carbon dioxide at low temperature is obvious, but with the increase of temperature, the effect of extraction on pyrolysis is lower than that of temperature. Under a nitrogen atmosphere, the secondary reaction of shale oil is mainly secondary pyrolysis and aromatization. However, in a supercritical carbon dioxide atmosphere, the main reactions are secondary addition and aromatization. Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the clinical and biochemical profiles of patients with imported malaria infection between 1 January 2011 and 30 April 2022 and admitted to the Fourth People's Hospital of Nanning., Methods: This cohort study enrolled 170 patients with conformed imported malaria infection. The clinical and biochemical profiles of these participants were analyzed with malaria parasite clearance, and signs and symptoms related to malaria disappearance were defined as the primary outcome. A multivariable logistic regression model was used to evaluate the odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for cerebral malaria. The Cox model was used to estimate the hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% CIs for parasite clearance., Results: Adenosine deaminase and parasitemia were found to be independent risk factors for severe malaria in patients with imported malaria (OR = 1.0088, 95% CI: 1.0010-1.0167, p = 0.0272 and OR = 2.0700, 95% CI: 1.2584-3.4050, p = 0.0042, respectively). Ship black carbon emissions have caused great harm to ecological environment. In order to estimate the black carbon emissions, thereby reducing the cost of black carbon experiments, here, we introduced four machine learning algorithms which are lasso regression, support vector machine, extreme gradient boosting, and artificial neural network to predict ship black carbon emissions. The prediction models were established with using the datasets acquired from similar marine engines under various steady-state conditions. The results show that SVM, XGB, and ANN have higher prediction accuracy than lasso regression, and the adjusted R 2 of each model is 0.9810, 0.9850, 0.9885, and 0.6088. Although ANN shows the best prediction performance, it is inferior to SVM and XGB in terms of model stability and training cost. Then, in order to simplify the optimization process of hyperparameters and improve the prediction accuracy of the model at the same time, we use three different swarm intelligence algorithms to automatically optimize the hyperparameters of SVM and XGB. In addition, we applied mutual information to measure the correlation between the characteristics of the prediction models and black carbon concentration and found that the characteristics which related to in-cylinder combustion have a strong correlation with the black carbon concentration. The findings in this paper prove the feasibility of machine learning in ship black carbon emission prediction and could provide references for reducing ship black carbon emissions and the formulation of emission regulations., (© 2022. This study aims to make clear of grassland coverage change and quantitative assessment its effect factors. We collected the data from the National Bureau of Statistics ( http://www.stats.gov.cn ) and "China 20th Century Land Use/Cover Change (LUCC) Spatio-temporal Platform". Grassland coverage area showed an upward trend from 1980 to 1990, and the grassland coverage area is gradually decreasing from 1990 to 2000, and the grassland coverage area has not changed much from 2000 to 2018. The medium-coverage grassland area has the highest correlation with the total population, and the high-coverage grassland area has the lowest correlation with the total population. Land use types and the composite of gross agricultural output have influence on grassland coverage area. Objective: To confirm the anti-NPC effect of sanguinarine (SA) through a series of wet experiments., Methods: NPC cell viability was determined by proliferation experiment. Cell clone formation experiment, cell scratch test, transwell migration and invasion experiment and flow cytometry-based cell apoptosis assay were further performed. In addition, Western blotting was performed to investigate the cell signaling pathway. All the relevant experimental data were statistically processed using SPSS 16.0 software., Results: The results showed that sanguinarine represented a time and dose dependent inhibition effects on NPC cell proliferation including the low differentiated CNE2 cells and high metastatic 5-8F cells, along with the cell cloning ability reduction. In addition, sanguinarine has a certain inhibitory effect on the invasion and migration of NPC cells. Mechanistically, sanguinarine displayed the anti-NPC effects mainly involved into the suppression of mTOR signaling and cell apoptosis, which is closely associated with the tumor growth and metastatic malignancy., Conclusions: Collectively, we discover that sanguinarine is a new high-efficiency anti-NPC monomer of Chinese medicine, with a value for the follow-up pre-clinical research.

Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a potentially fatal pneumonia caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), especially those of novel SARS-CoV-2 variants and infection has affected over 700 million people globally., Methods: This retrospective, descriptive study included 118 patients admitted with SARS-CoV-2 infection as confirmed by real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction., Results: The median duration of detectable SARS-CoV-2 infection in patients with high ALT, AST, and PLT/LYMPH, or low CD4+, CD8+, and PLT/MONO was considerably longer. In the risk factor model, multivariate analysis was performed for the estimation of ALT (HR, 0.54; 95% CI, 0.36-0.81), AST (HR, 0.56; 95% CI, 0.34-0.93), CD4+ (HR,0.77; 95% CI, 0.48-1.24), CD8+ (HR,0.64; 95% CI, 0.37-1.11), PLT/LYMPH (HR, 1.16; 95% CI, 0.76-1.77), and PLT/MONO (HR, 0.64; 95% CI, 0.43-0.94)., Conclusions: The longer viral RNA duration was associated with a higher International Prognostic Index score ( p = 0.0013), demonstrating for the first time that multivariate features of the bioindicators closely associated with SARS-CoV-2-infected patients clear the virus., Competing Interests: The authors declare no conflicts of interest., (Copyright © 2022 DeWu Bi et al.)

The iron losses in the motor of motorized spindles have a significant effect on their heat generation, thermal deformation, and machining accuracy. The equivalent magnetic circuit (EMC) method for estimating iron losses in the spindle motor is proposed, where the magnetic flux density distribution of any cross section inside the spindle motor is assumed as a uniform one. A mechanical loss separation method of no load running combined with a sudden loss of power supply is also proposed. The EMC method is verified by prototype experiment and a different analysis method comparison. The EMC does not need to solve complex electromagnetic fields, and to do 2D or 3D eddy current analysis and the corresponding post-processing. There is only need to perform a simple magnetic circuit calculation. Therefore, it can realize a fast analysis and prediction. The proposed mechanical loss separation method requires only one prototype during a whole testing process. There is no need for any other same prototype and a coupling device. It is simpler, and can eliminate the braking torque and electromagnetic losses of the spindle motor., (© 2022. The Author(s).)

Objective: To explore the advantages of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in "prevention" and "control" of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic., Methods: In this paper, we wish to estimate the effect on the virus transmission of scenarios assuming TCM were used to build the first defense line at the very early stage of the spread in Wuhan. We therefore first developed a classic susceptible infected removed (susceptible infected removed, SIR) transmission model based on the national data in China and then updated it to a TCM-SIR model to assess the potential impact of such assumptions, i.e. the underlying risk of lives lost and social economy loss., Results: (a) With the nationwide community lockdown, the risk value was from 90 000 to 250 000 without TCM intervention and the risk value was from 70 000 to 220 000 with TCM intervention; (b) Based the risk assessment method, we forecasted that the infections peak would be 58016 without TCM intervention, which happened on February 17 2020. However, the infections peak would be 45713 with TCM intervention, which happened on 16 February 2020., Conclusions: The adoption of nationwide community lockdown is conducive to timely control the epidemic and protect people's lives and safety. At the same time, we can get lower infections if TCM intervention can be considered. We can also get the benefits from TCM prevention of COVID-19 pandemic by the basic number of infections.
