Very recently, Atangana and Baleanu defined a novel arbitrary order derivative having a kernel of non-locality and non-singularity, known as AB derivative. We analyze a non-integer order Anthroponotic Leshmania Cutaneous (ACL) problem exploiting this novel AB derivative. We derive equilibria of the model and compute its threshold quantity, i.e. the so-called reproduction number. Conditions for the local stability of the no-disease as well as the disease endemic states are derived in terms of the threshold quantity. The qualitative analysis for solution of the proposed problem have derived with the aid of the theory of fixed point. We use the predictor corrector numerical approach to solve the proposed fractional order model for approximate solution. We also provide, the numerical simulations for each of the compartment of considered model at different fractional orders along with comparison with integer order to elaborate the importance of modern derivative. The fractional investigation shows that the non-integer order derivative is more realistic about the inner dynamics of the Leishmania model lying between integer order.

Chronic infections caused by gram negative bacteria are the mains reasons to have morbidity and death in patients, despite using high doses of antibiotics applied to cure diseases producing by them. This study was designed to identify the role of flagella in biofilm formation Ten pure strains were collected from our lab. Morphological variation and motility assays led us to study two strains in detail. They were characterized biochemically, physiologically and genetically. Biofilm formation analysis was performed using test tube assay, congo red assay and liquid-interface coverslip assay. In order to disrupt flagella of studied strains, blending was induced for 5, 10 and 15 minutes followed by centrifugation and observing motility using motility test. Biofilm quantification of wild type (parental) and blended strains was done using test tube and liquid interface coverslip assays. 16S rRNA sequencing identified strains as Pseudomonas aeroginosa and Enterobacter cloacae. Significant biofilm formation (p>0.05) by was observed after 72 and 18 hours using test tube and liquid-interface coverslip assays respectively. Flagellar disruption showed that 15 minutes blending caused significant reduction in both strains, hence demonstrated that flagellar mediated motility could be a potent strategy to stabilize aggregate and invest resources for biofilm formation in P. aeruginosa and E. cloacae.

Antimicrobial resistance results in selective colonization in animals. In the present study, 447 diarrheic foals (235 horse foals, 165 donkey foals and 47 mule foal) were selected from Lahore and Sahiwal districts of Punjab, Pakistan. Fresh fecal and blood samples from diarrheic foals were collected for isolation and confirmation of Salmonella Polymerase chain reaction. Results revealed that 50 (11.25%) foals (horse n=29, donkey n=12 and mule n=9) were positive. Fifty Salmonella enterica isolates belonging to 7 serovars S. Paratyphi B (15), S. Saintpaul (7), S. Newport (6), S. Typhimu-rium (11), S. Kottbus (4), S. Lagos (2), and S. enterica ssp salamae (5). Salmonella was common in foals that visited veterinary hospital, as compared to those in stud farms and individual foals reared in low income household. Out of the total 50 samples, 92% of isolates were resistant to three or more than three antimicrobials. The highest resistance (86%) was against Sulphamethoxazole (23.75mg) and lowest (4%) against trimethoprime (5mg). The isolates also showed resistance against Doxycycline (30mg), Oxytetracycline (30mg), Streptomycin (10mg), Neomycin (30mg), Amikacin (30mg), chloramphenicol (30mg), Ampicillin (10mg), Amoxicillin (10mg), kanamycin (30mg), Norfloxacin (10mg), Gentamicin 10mg, Cefotaxime (30mg), Ciprofloxacin (5mg) and Ceftriaxone (30mg). Blood analysis of salmonella infected foals showed That Hemoglobin, PCV and TEC were significantly higher and (while) TLC, PCV, Monocytes, Lymphocytes, Basophils, Eosinophil and Neutrophils were significantly lower than normal. The present study describes the screening of different agroindustrial byproducts for enhanced production of alkaline protease by a wild and EMS induced mutant strain of Bacillus subtilis IH-72(EMS8). During submerged fermentation, different agro-industrial byproducts were tested which include defatted seed meals of rape, guar, sunflower, gluten, cotton, soybean, and gram. In addition to these meals, rice bran, wheat bran, and wheat flour were also evaluated for protease production. Of all the byproducts tested, soybean meal at a concentration of 20 g/L gave maximum production of the enzyme, that is, 5.74  ±  0.26 U/mL from wild and 11.28  ±  0.45 U/mL from mutant strain, during submerged fermentation. Different mesh sizes (coarse, medium, and fine) of the soybean meal were also evaluated, and a finely ground soybean meal (fine mesh) was found to be the best. In addition to the defatted seed meals, their alkali extracts were also tested for the production of alkaline protease by Bacillus subtilis, but these were proved nonsignificant for enhanced production of the enzyme. The production of the enzyme was also studied in solid state fermentation, and different agro-industrial byproducts were also evaluated for enzyme production. Wheat bran partially replaced with guar meal was found as the best substrate for maximum enzyme production under solid state fermentation conditions.

Viola betonicifolia (whole plant) has been used as a sedative and in various nervous disorders in Pakistani traditional medicines. The n-hexane extract of the whole plant of V. betonicifolia (HEVB) was investigated for neuropharmacological properties such as anxiolytic, muscle relaxant, sleep induction, antidepressant and sedative to ascertain its folk use. Anxiolytic activity was tested using the staircase test, while the muscle relaxing property of the extract was tested in various muscle relaxant paradigms, i.e. chimney test, traction test, rota rod and inclined plane. In anxiolytic and muscle relaxant tests, HEVB (0.3, 0.4 and 0.5 g/kg, i.p.), diazepam (1 mg/kg, i.p.) or distilled water (10 ml/kg i.p.) were administered 30, 60 and 90 min before performing the tests in mice. HEVB was also screened for a sleep-inducing effect. The antidepressant activity was determined by using the forced swimming test (FST), while line crossing in a special box was used for locomotor activity. HEVB showed a significant (P < 0.05) dose-dependent anxiolytic action in the staircase test. In muscle relaxant paradigms, a dose-dependent muscle relaxation was observed. For the phenobarbitone sleep induction test, HEVB notably (P < 0.05) reduced the latency time and increased the total sleeping duration. However, HEVB was devoid of any antidepressant activity, while the movements of mice were reduced significantly (P < 0.05) in locomotor activity. The results suggest that HEVB has anxiolytic, muscle relaxant, sleep-inducing (sedative) activity and, thus, provides pharmacological justification for the use of this plant as a sedative and for the relief of various nervous disorders.
