Background: Melanoma incidence is on the rise in East Asia, yet studies of the molecular landscape are lacking in this population. We examined patients with melanoma who underwent next-generation sequencing (NGS) at a single tertiary center in South Korea, focusing on patients harboring NRAS or RAF alterations who received belvarafenib, a pan-RAF dimer inhibitor, through the Expanded Access Program (EAP)., Patients and Methods: Data were collected from 192 patients with melanoma who underwent NGS between November 2017 and May 2023. Variant call format data were obtained and annotated. Patients in the EAP received 450 mg twice daily doses of belvarafenib., Results: Alterations in the RAS/RTK pathway were the most prevalent, with BRAF and NRAS alteration rates of 22.4% and 17.7%, respectively. NGS enabled additional detection of fusion mutations, including 6 BRAF and 1 RAF1 fusion. Sixteen patients with NRAS or RAF alterations received belvarafenib through the EAP, and disease control was observed in 50%, with 2 patients demonstrating remarkable responses., Conclusions: Our study highlights the value of NGS in detecting BRAF, NRAS mutations and RAF fusions, expanding possibilities for targeted therapies in malignant melanoma. Objective: Chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) is a commonly encountered neurosurgical pathology that frequently requires surgical intervention. With an increasingly aging demographic, more older people and patients with comorbidities will present with symptomatic CSDH. This study evaluated clinical and laboratory factors affecting the short-term outcomes of CSDH after surgical intervention., Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 170 patients who underwent burr-hole trephination for CSDH in a single institution from January 2019 to December 2021. All patients were examined for risk factors and evaluated for hematoma thickness change and midline shifting on brain computed tomography (CT) scans at 3 days after burr-hole trephination., Results: This consecutive series of patients included 114 males (67.1%) and 56 females (32.9%); mean age 72.4±12.5 years. Renal disease ( p =0.044) and prior intracranial hemorrhage ( p =0.004) were clinical factors associated with poorer prognosis. A statistically significant association was found between initial laboratory findings, including high creatine kinase ( p =0.025) and low platelet ( p =0.036) levels, and CT findings 3 days postoperatively. The 3-day mean arterial pressure and postoperative ambulation were not significantly associated with outcomes., Conclusion: Burr-hole craniostomy is an effective surgical procedure for initial CSDH. However, patients with a history intracranial hemorrhage and abnormal laboratory findings, such as low platelet levels, who underwent burr-hole trephination had poor short-term outcomes. Objective: Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) has a high mortality rate, and hemorrhage amounts and perioperative rebleeding importantly determines prognosis. However, despite adequate treatment, prognosis is poor in many ruptured aneurysm cases. In this study, we identified and evaluated factors related to perioperative rebleeding in patients with aSAH., Methods: The medical and surgical records of 166 patients that underwent endovascular embolization for a ruptured cerebral aneurysm at a single institution from 2014 to 2016 were retrospectively analyzed to identify risk factors of rebleeding. All patients were examined for risk factors and evaluated for increased hemorrhage by brain computed tomography at 3 days after surgery., Results: This series included 54 men (32.5%) and 112 women (67.5%) of mean age 58.3±14.3 years. After procedures, 26 patients (15.7%) experienced rebleeding, and 1 of these (0.6%) experienced an intraoperative aneurysmal rupture. External ventricular drainage (EVD) (odds ratio [OR] 5.389, [95% confidence interval (CI) 1.171- 24.801]) and modified Fisher grade (OR 2.037, [95% CI 1.077-3.853]) were found to be independent risk factors of rebleeding, and perioperative rebleeding was strongly associated with patient outcomes (p＜0.001). Conclusions: We concluded the rebleeding risk after aSAH is greater in patients with large hemorrhage amounts and a high pre-operative modified Fisher grade, and thus, we caution neurosurgeons should take care in such cases.

Objective: High-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (HF-rTMS) to the lesional hemisphere requires prudence in selecting the appropriate stimulation spot. Functional near-IR spectroscopy (fNIRS) can be used in both selecting the stimulation spot and assessing the changes of the brain network. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of HF-rTMS on the most activated spot identified with fNIRS and assess the changes of brain functional network in the patients with poststroke aphasia., Methods: A total of five patients received HF-rTMS to the most activated area on the lesional hemisphere, followed by 30 min of speech therapy for 10 days. The Korean version of the Western aphasia battery (K-WAB) and fNIRS evaluation were done 1 day before the treatment, 1 day and 1 month after the last treatment session. Changes of K-WAB and paired cortical interaction and brain network analysis using graph theory were assessed., Results: Aphasia quotient in K-WAB significantly increased after the treatment ( P = 0.043). The correlation analysis of cortical interactions showed increased connectivity between language production and processing areas. Clustering coefficients of the left hemisphere were increased over a sparsity range between 0.45 and 0.58 (0.015 < p < 0.031), whereas the clustering coefficients of the right hemisphere, decreased over a sparsity range 0.15-0.87 (0.063 < p < 0.095). Prism Adaptation (PA) is used to alleviate spatial neglect. We combined immersive virtual reality with a depth-sensing camera to develop virtual prism adaptation therapy (VPAT), which block external visual cues and easily quantify and monitor errors than conventional PA. We conducted a feasibility study to investigate whether VPAT can induce behavioral adaptations by measuring after-effect and identifying which cortical areas were most significantly activated during VPAT using functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS). Fourteen healthy subjects participated in this study. The experiment consisted of four sequential phases (pre-VPAT, VPAT-10°, VPAT-20°, and post-VPAT). To compare the most significantly activated cortical areas during pointing in different phases against pointing during the pre-VPAT phase, we analyzed changes in oxyhemoglobin concentration using fNIRS during pointing. The pointing errors of the virtual hand deviated to the right-side during early pointing blocks in the VPAT-10° and VPAT-20° phases. There was a left-side deviation of the real hand to the target in the post-VPAT phase, demonstrating after-effect. The most significantly activated channels during pointing tasks were located in the right hemisphere, and possible corresponding cortical areas included the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex and frontal eye field. BCR-ABL1 -positive acute leukemia can be classified into three disease categories: B-lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL), acute myeloid leukemia (AML), and mixed-phenotype acute leukemia (MPAL). We conducted an integrative analysis of RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) data obtained from 12 BCR-ABL1 -positive B-ALL, AML, and MPAL samples to evaluate its diagnostic utility. RNA-seq facilitated the identification of all p190 BCR-ABL1 with accurate splicing sites and a new gene fusion involving MAP2K2 . Most of the clinically significant mutations were also identified including single-nucleotide variations, insertions, and deletions. In addition, RNA-seq yielded differential gene expression profile according to the disease category. Therefore, we selected 368 genes differentially expressed between AML and B-ALL and developed two differential diagnosis models based on the gene expression data using 1) scoring algorithm and 2) machine learning. Both models showed an excellent diagnostic accuracy not only for our 12 BCR-ABL1 -positive cases but also for 427 public gene expression datasets from acute leukemias regardless of specific genetic aberration. This is the first trial to develop models of differential diagnosis using RNA-seq, especially to evaluate the potential role of machine learning in identifying the disease category of acute leukemia. The integrative analysis of gene expression data by RNA-seq facilitates the accurate differential diagnosis of acute leukemia with successful detection of significant gene fusion and/or mutations, which warrants further investigation., Competing Interests: Author SC is the CEO of Delvine Inc. Objective: Carotid artery stenting (CAS) is a major treatment option for carotid artery stenosis, and a recognized alternative to carotid endarterectomy (CEA). However, CAS-related hemodynamic instability occurs frequently and is a known major risk factor of associated complications. This study was undertaken to identify the risk factors of hemodynamic instability associated with CAS., Methods: We analyzed the medical records of 128 patients with carotid artery stenosis treated by CAS at our institution from 2014 to 2019 to identify the risk factors of hemodynamic instability after CAS. In addition, the incidences of hemodynamic instability, including bradycardia and hypotension, during and after the procedure were investigated., Results: Overall, periprocedural bradycardia requiring atropine occurred in 18 (14.1 %) of the 128 study subjects, and postprocedural persistent hypotension requiring vasopressors occurred in 15 (11.7 %). Risk-adjusted analysis showed carotid bulb involvement of a stenotic lesion was an independent risk factor of periprocedural bradycardia (OR 4.25, 95 % CI 1.34-13.40) and postprocedural persistent hypotension (OR 7.36, 95 % CI 1.86-29.12). However, though a preoperative regimen of ≥ 2 antihypertensives was found to be an independent protective factor against postprocedural persistent hypotension (OR 0.17, 95 % CI 0.04-0.81), it was not associated with periprocedural bradycardia (OR 0.37 95 % CI 0.08-1.60)., Conclusions: The risk of hemodynamic instability development is greater when a carotid stenotic lesion involves the carotid bulb, which cautions that careful evaluation is necessary. In addition, the receipt of antihypertensive regimens before CAS had a protective effect on persistent hypotension after CAS, but did not affect bradycardia., (Copyright © 2021 The Authors. Objective: Of the complications that can occur during endovascular surgery in aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) patients, thromboembolism remains a particular challenge for many surgeons. Heparin has been widely used for its prevention, but it has not been able to eliminate concerns about bleeding. Therefore, in this study, we tried to determine the risk of rebleeding associated with heparin use., Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the medical and surgical records of 109 patients that underwent endovascular embolization for a ruptured cerebral aneurysm at a single institution from 2010 to 2014. These patients were divided into two groups according to whether heparin was loaded or not, to determine the effect of heparin on rebleeding and to identify other risk factors of rebleeding., Results: This series included 40 men (36.7 %) and 69 women (63.3 %) of mean age 57.9 ± 14.8 years. In 80 patients (73.4 %), endovascular embolization was conducted using an intraoperative bolus of 5000 units of heparin, whereas in the other 29 (26.6 %) endovascular embolization was performed without an intraoperative heparin bolus. After procedures, 16 patients (14.7 %) experienced rebleeding and 2 (1.8 %) a thromboembolic event. Intraoperative heparin loading (OR 0.683 [95 % CI 0.199-2.338]) was not found to be related to postoperative rebleeding. Rather, logistic regression analysis showed preoperative modified Fisher grade (OR 2.037 [95 % CI 1.077-3.853]) and external ventricular drainage (OR 5.389 [95 % CI 1.171-24.801]) independently predicted rebleeding., Conclusions: Heparin loading during endovascular treatment of ruptured cerebral aneurysms did not affect rebleeding. Neurorehabilitation for stroke is important for upper limb motor recovery. Conventional rehabilitation such as occupational therapy has been used, but novel technologies are expected to open new opportunities for better recovery. Virtual reality (VR) is a technology with a set of informatics that provides interactive environments to patients. VR can enhance neuroplasticity and recovery after a stroke by providing more intensive, repetitive, and engaging training due to several advantages, including: (1) tasks with various difficulty levels for rehabilitation, (2) augmented real-time feedback, (3) more immersive and engaging experiences, (4) more standardized rehabilitation, and (5) safe simulation of real-world activities of daily living. In this comprehensive narrative review of the application of VR in motor rehabilitation after stroke, mainly for the upper limbs, we cover: (1) the technologies used in VR rehabilitation, including sensors; (2) the clinical application of and evidence for VR in stroke rehabilitation; and (3) considerations for VR application in stroke rehabilitation. Meta-analyses for upper limb VR rehabilitation after stroke were identified by an online search of Ovid-MEDLINE, Ovid-EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, and KoreaMed. We expect that this review will provide insights into successful clinical applications or trials of VR for motor rehabilitation after stroke.

Objective: Chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) is one of the most common intracranial hemorrhages. It can be managed with a simple surgical treatment such as burr-hole trephination and drainage. However, it has a relatively high recurrence rate. The mechanisms and risk factors for the recurrence have not yet been clearly identified and studies have reported varying results., Methods: We analyzed 230 patients with CSDH who were treated with burr-hole trephination and drainage at our institution from March 2011 to March 2016. The patients were divided into recurrence and non-recurrence groups and the medical records of each group were used to analyze the risk factors associated with CSDH recurrence., Results: After burr-hole trephination and drainage, CSDH recurrence was observed in 49 (21.3%) of the 230 patients. In univariate analysis, none of the factors showed statistical significance with respect to CSDH recurrence. In multivariate analysis, preoperative antithrombotic medication was the only independent risk factor for CSDH recurrence (odds ratio, 2.407; 95% confidence interval, 1.047-5.531)., Conclusion: The present study found that preoperative antithrombotic medication was independently associated with CSDH recurrence.

Hemispatial neglect is a common impairment after stroke. It is associated with poor functional and social outcomes. Therefore, an adequate intervention is imperative for the successful management of hemispatial neglect. However, the clinical use of various interventions is limited in real clinical practice. Prism adaptation therapy is one of the most evidence-based rehabilitation modalities to treat hemispatial neglect. To overcome any possible shortcoming that may occur with prism therapy, we developed a new system using immersive virtual reality and depth-sensing camera to create a virtual prism adaptation therapy (VPAT). To validate the VPAT system, we designed an experimental protocol investigating the behavioral errors and changes in cortical activation via the VPAT system. Cortical activation was measured by functional near infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS). The experiment consisted of four phases. All four included clicking, pointing or rest applied to right-handed healthy people. Clicking versus pointing was used for investigating the cortical region related with the gross motor task, and pointing with VPAT versus pointing without VPAT was used for investigating the cortical region associated with visuospatial perception. The preliminary results from four healthy participants showed that pointing errors by the VPAT system was similar to the conventional prism adaptation therapy. Further analysis with more participants and fNIRS data, as well as a study in patients with stroke may be required.

After traumatic brain injury (TBI), motor impairment is less common than neurocognitive or behavioral problems. However, about 30% of TBI survivors have reported motor deficits limiting the activities of daily living or participation. After acute primary and secondary injuries, there are subsequent changes including increased GABA-mediated inhibition during the subacute stage and neuroplastic alterations that are adaptive or maladaptive during the chronic stage. Therefore, timely and appropriate neuromodulation by transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) may be beneficial to patients with TBI for neuroprotection or restoration of maladaptive changes.Technologically, combination of imaging-based modelling or simultaneous brain signal monitoring with tDCS could result in greater individualized optimal targeting allowing a more favorable neuroplasticity after TBI. Moreover, a combination of task-oriented training using virtual reality with tDCS can be considered as a potent tele-rehabilitation tool in the home setting, increasing the dose of rehabilitation and neuromodulation, resulting in better motor recovery.This review summarizes the pathophysiology and possible neuroplastic changes in TBI, as well as provides the general concepts and current evidence with respect to the applicability of tDCS in motor recovery. Through its endeavors, it aims to provide insights on further successful development and clinical application of tDCS in motor rehabilitation after TBI.

Background: We designed this study to prove the efficacy of the low-cost Kinect-based virtual rehabilitation (VR) system for upper limb recovery among patients with subacute stroke., Methods: A double-blind, randomized, sham-controlled trial was performed. A total of 23 subjects with subacute stroke (<3 months) were allocated to sham (n = 11) and real VR group (n = 12). Both groups participated in a daily 30-minute occupational therapy for upper limb recovery for 10 consecutive weekdays. Subjects received an additional daily 30-minute Kinect-based or sham VR. Assessment was performed before the VR, immediately and 1 month after the last session of VR. Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA) (primary outcome) and other secondary functional outcomes were measured. Accelerometers were used to measure hemiparetic upper limb movements during the therapy., Results: FMA immediately after last VR session was not different between the sham (46.8 ± 16.0) and the real VR group (49.4 ± 14.2) (P = .937 in intention to treat analysis). Significant differences of total activity counts (TAC) were found in hemiparetic upper limb during the therapy between groups (F2,26 = 4.43; P = .22). Real VR group (107,926 ± 68,874) showed significantly more TACs compared with the sham VR group (46,686 ± 25,814) but there was no statistical significance between real VR and control (64,575 ± 27,533)., Conclusion: Low-cost Kinect-based upper limb rehabilitation system was not more efficacious compared with sham VR. However, the compliance in VR was good and VR system induced more arm motion than control and similar activity compared with the conventional therapy, which suggests its utility as an adjuvant additional therapy during inpatient stroke rehabilitation.

The conventional tools to measure spasticity exhibited insufficient test-retest or inter-rater reliability. Therefore, the spasticity measurement using an isokinetic device has been proposed to improve these reliabilities of the angle of catch (AoC) measurements; however, this proposal has not been investigated in a standardized manner. In this study, the comparison of the AoC measurement was performed using two modes (isokinetic and manual motion) to investigate whether the standardized isokinetic motion could increase the reliabilities. Motion consistency was calculated using a newly developed index. To analyze the effect of the motion standardization, AoC were estimated using EMG data for both modes, and to compare the measurement reliability, AoC for isokinetic mode was estimated using both EMG and torque data. Although the test-retest reliability for manual motion was excellent, the use of isokinetic motion improved it to the level of extremely excellent. Intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) for the inter-rater reliability of manual motion was 0.788, which was near the lower limit of the excellent. Isokinetic motion improved it to the ICC of 0.890 and 0.931 based on the EMG and torque, respectively. Magnetic resonance electrical property tomography (MREPT) is a technique used to extract the electrical properties of tissues (conductivity in particular) using a magnetic resonance imaging system. In this paper, we propose an improved data acquisition scheme for the electrical property tomography technique by utilizing T 2 modulation in fast spin echo (FSE) imaging. This technique was motivated by a numerical analysis of conductivity reconstruction in the frequency domain; results reveal the spatial frequency-dependent noise texture of conventional methods. A data-acquisition scheme using the FSE sequence was formulated to concentrate the signal within a specific frequency range where notable noise amplification is observed in the conventional method. Through numerical studies, the performance of the proposed acquisition was investigated. Furthermore, a compensation scheme was applied to reduce quantification errors due to tissue-specific T 2 modulation, which is inherent in FSE imaging. The technique was applied to phantom and in vivo experiments. Results showed improved conductivity contrasts in both experiments, as compared with conventional MREPT methods.

Background: Daptomycin is a recently introduced, last-resort antibiotic that displays a unique mode of action against Gram-positive bacteria that is not fully understood. Several bacterial targets have been proposed but no human binding partner is known., Methods: In the present study we tested daptomycin in cell viability and proliferation assays against six human cell lines, describe the synthesis of biotinylated and fluorescently labeled analogues of daptomycin. Biotinylated daptomycin was used as bait to isolate the human binding partner by the application of reverse chemical proteomics using T7 phage display of five human tumor cDNA libraries. The interaction between the rescued protein and daptomycin was validated via siRNA knockdown, DARTS assay and immunocytochemistry., Results: We have found that daptomycin possesses selective growth inhibition of some cancer cell lines, especially MCF7. The unbiased interrogation of human cDNA libraries, displayed on bacteriophage T7, revealed a single human target of daptomycin; ribosomal protein S19. Using a drug affinity responsive target stability (DARTS) assay in vitro , we show that daptomycin stabilizes RPS19 toward pronase. Fluorescently labeled daptomycin stained specific structures in HeLa cells and co-localized with a RPS19 antibody., Conclusion: This study provides, for the first time, a human protein target of daptomycin and identifies RPS19 as a possible anticancer drug target for the development of new pharmacological applications and research.

Objective: The aim of this preliminary collaborative study was to assess the clinical characteristics, management, and outcome of epidural hematoma (EDH) based on the data collected and registered in the Korean Trauma Data Bank System (KTDBS)., Methods: Of 2,698 patients registered in the KTDBS between September 2010 and March 2014, 285 patients with EDH were analyzed. Twenty-three trauma centers participated in the study voluntarily to collect data. We subcategorized the patients into two groups with good and poor outcomes. Various clinical characteristics and the time intervals with regard to treatment course were investigated to determine the relationship between these parameters and the functional outcome., Results: Of multiple parameters for this analysis, older age ( p =0.0003), higher degree of brain injury ( p <0.0001), cases of surgical EDH ( p <0.0001), time interval from trauma to hospital before 6 hours, and the decreasing pattern of Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) between and initial and final GCS were strongly associated with poor outcome. Use of prophylactic anticonvulsant did not affect the functional outcome. There was an interesting difference in the use of mannitol in treating EDH between the urban and rural regions ( p <0.0001)., Conclusion: This is the first multi-center analysis of etiology of injury, pre-hospital care, treatment, and functional outcome of EDH in Korea. Virtual home-based rehabilitation is an emerging area in stroke rehabilitation. Functional assessment tools are essential to monitor recovery and provide current function-based rehabilitation. We developed the Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA) tool using Kinect (Microsoft, USA) and validated it for hemiplegic stroke patients. Forty-one patients with hemiplegic stroke were enrolled. Thirteen of 33 items were selected for upper extremity motor FMA. One occupational therapist assessed the motor FMA while recording upper extremity motion with Kinect. FMA score was calculated using principal component analysis and artificial neural network learning from the saved motion data. The degree of jerky motion was also transformed to jerky scores. Prediction accuracy for each of the 13 items and correlations between real FMA scores and scores using Kinect were analyzed. Prediction accuracies ranged from 65% to 87% in each item and exceeded 70% for 9 items. Correlations were high for the summed score for the 13 items between real FMA scores and scores obtained using Kinect (Pearson's correlation coefficient = 0.873, P<0.0001) and those between total upper extremity scores (66 in full score) and scores using Kinect (26 in full score) (Pearson's correlation coefficient = 0.799, P<0.0001). Log transformed jerky scores were significantly higher in the hemiplegic side (1.81 ± 0.76) compared to non-hemiplegic side (1.21 ± 0.43) and showed significant negative correlations with Brunnstrom stage (3 to 6; Spearman correlation coefficient = -0.387, P = 0.046). FMA using Kinect is a valid way to assess upper extremity function and can provide additional results for movement quality in stroke patients. This may be useful in the setting of unsupervised home-based rehabilitation.

Evaluating and quantifying the upper-limb functions are essential to planning effective patient rehabilitation. The box and block test (BBT) is a conventional, simple, and easy-to-apply assessment tool that is used in hospitals, and previous studies have demonstrated its usefulness in stroke rehabilitation. Using a conventional depth-sensing camera, the authors developed a virtual box and block test (VBBT) system for hand, finger, and grasping assessments based on the BBT used for the grasping ability test in hospitals. Such a virtual upper-limb-function assessment tool that can be implemented in a home setting could be a key component in a home-based virtual rehabilitation system. Comparison results between the real and virtual BBTs show the possibilities for virtualizing conventional and unsupervised assessments.

Objective: A small epidural hematoma (EDH) that has been diagnosed to be nonsurgical by initial brain computed tomography (CT) can increase in size and need surgical removal, resulting in a poor prognosis. However, there have been few studies, which focused delayed operated EDH. Therefore, we analyzed the clinical factors to determine the predicting factors of delayed operated EDH., Methods: Between January 2011 and January 2014, 90 patients, who were admitted due to EDH, were enrolled in this study. None of the patients were indicated for operation initially. Based on the presence of surgery, we classified the patients into a delayed-surgery group (DG) and a non-surgical group (NG). Additionally, we analyzed them according to the following: time interval between the trauma and the initial CT, gender, age, medical history, drinking, change of mean arterial pressure (MAP), volume of EDH and other traumatic brain lesion., Results: Among the 90 patients, the DG was 19 patients. Compared with NG, the DG revealed increased MAP, less presence of drinking, and a short time interval (DG vs. NG: +9.684 mm Hg vs. -0.428 mm Hg, 5.26% vs. 29.58%, 1.802 hours vs. 5.707 hours, respectively, p<0.05). Analyzing the time interval with receiver operating characteristic, there was 88.2% sensitivity and 68.3% specificity at the 2.05-hour cut-off value (area under the curve=0.854)., Conclusion: According to our results, the time interval between the trauma and the initial CT along with blood pressure change are potential predicting factors in the cases of delayed operation of EDH.

A prototype system that replaces the conventional time-lapse imaging in microscopic inspection for use with smartphones is presented. Existing time-lapse imaging requires a video data feed between a microscope and a computer that varies depending on the type of image grabber. Even with proper hardware setups, a series of tedious and repetitive tasks is still required to relocate to the region-of-interest (ROI) of the specimens. In order to simplify the system and improve the efficiency of time-lapse imaging tasks, a smartphone-based platform utilizing microscopic augmented reality (μ-AR) markers is proposed. To evaluate the feasibility and efficiency of the proposed system, a user test was designed and performed, measuring the elapse time for a trial of the task starting from the execution of the application software to the completion of restoring and imaging of an ROI saved in advance. The results of the user test showed that the average elapse time was 65.3 ± 15.2 s with 6.86 ± 3.61 μm of position error and 0.08 ± 0.40 degrees of angle error. This indicates that the time-lapse imaging task was accomplished rapidly with a high level of accuracy. Anisotropic electrical properties can be found in biological tissues such as muscles and nerves. Conductivity tensor is a simplified model to express the effective electrical anisotropic information and depends on the imaging resolution. The determination of the conductivity tensor should be based on Ohm's law. In other words, the measurement of partial information of current density and the electric fields should be made. Since the direct measurements of the electric field and the current density are difficult, we use MRI to measure their partial information such as B1 map; it measures circulating current density and circulating electric field. In this work, the ratio of the two circulating fields, termed circulating admittivity, is proposed as measures of the conductivity anisotropy at Larmor frequency. Given eigenvectors of the conductivity tensor, quantitative measurement of the eigenvalues can be achieved from circulating admittivity for special tissue models. Without eigenvectors, qualitative information of anisotropy still can be acquired from circulating admittivity. The limitation of the circulating admittivity is that at least two components of the magnetic fields should be measured to capture anisotropic information.
