Oxidative stress, predominantly from neuronal mitochondrial damage and the resultant cytokine storm, is central to cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury (CIRI). However, delivering drugs to neuronal mitochondria remains challenging due to the blood-brain barrier (BBB), which impedes drug entry into affected brain tissues. This study introduces an innovative tannic acid (TA) and melanin-modified heteropolyacid nanomedicine (MHT), which highly specifically eliminates the neuronal mitochondrial reactive oxygen radicals burst to efficiently reduce neuronal mitochondrial damage through a strategically designed sequential targeting strategy from affected brain tissue to neuronal mitochondria. TA endows MHT with sequential targeting ability by binding to matrix proteins exposed to the damaged BBB and mitochondrial outer membrane proteins of neurons, while melanin significantly enhances the antioxidant capacity of MHT. Consequently, MHT effectively inhibits neuronal apoptosis by protecting mitochondria and reversing the inflammatory immune environment through the deactivation of the cyclic GMP-AMP synthase-stimulator of interferon genes (cGAS-STING) pathway. MHT demonstrated a strong therapeutic effect on CIRI, with an ultralow dose (2 mg kg -1 ) proving effective in reversing the condition. With the rapid advancements in biomedicine, the use of clinical drugs has surged sharply. However, potential hepatotoxicity limits drug exploitation and widespread usage, posing serious threats to patient health. Hepatotoxic drugs disrupt liver enzyme levels and cause refractory pathological damage, creating a challenge in the application of diverse first-line drugs. The activation and deterioration of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (RONS) and inflammatory signals are key pathological mechanisms of drug-induced liver injury (DILI). Herein, a novel reduced heteropolyacid nanoparticle (RNP) has been developed, possessing high RONS-scavenging ability, strong anti-inflammatory activity, and excellent biosafety. These features enable it to swiftly restore the redox and immune balance of the liver. Intravenous administration of RNP effectively scavenged RONS storm, reversing liver oxidative stress and restoring normal mitochondrial membrane potential and function. Furthermore, by inhibiting c-Jun-N-terminal kinase phosphorylation, RNP facilitated the restoration of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2-mediated endogenous antioxidant signaling, ultimately rescuing the liver function and tissue morphology in acetaminophen-induced DILI mice. Crucially, the high biocompatible RNP exhibited superior efficacy in the DILI mouse model compared to the clinical antioxidant N-acetylcysteine. Mitochondria, widely known as the energy factories of eukaryotic cells, have a myriad of vital functions across diverse cellular processes. Dysfunctions within mitochondria serve as catalysts for various diseases, prompting widespread cellular demise. Mounting research on remedying damaged mitochondria indicates that mitochondria constitute a valuable target for therapeutic intervention against diseases. But the less clinical practice and lower recovery rate imply the limitation of traditional drugs, which need a further breakthrough. Nanotechnology has approached favorable regiospecific biodistribution and high efficacy by capitalizing on excellent nanomaterials and targeting drug delivery. Mitochondria-remedying nanodrugs have achieved ideal therapeutic effects. This review elucidates the significance of mitochondria in various cells and organs, while also compiling mortality data for related diseases. Correspondingly, nanodrug-mediate therapeutic strategies and applicable mitochondria-remedying nanodrugs in disease are detailed, with a full understanding of the roles of mitochondria dysfunction and the advantages of nanodrugs. In addition, the future challenges and directions are widely discussed. Objective: To construct and evaluate a nomogram prediction model for the risk of diabetic foot in patients with type 2 diabetes based on their clinical data, and to assist clinical healthcare professionals in identifying high-risk factors and developing targeted intervention measures., Methods: We retrospectively collected clinical data from 478 hospitalized patients with type 2 diabetes at the First Affiliated Hospital of Shantou University Medical College from January 2019 to December 2021. The patients were divided into a diabetic foot group (n=312) and a non-diabetic foot group (n=166) based on whether they had diabetic foot. The baseline data of both groups were collected. Univariate and multivariate analyses as well as logistic regression analysis were conducted to explore the risk factors for diabetic foot. A nomogram prediction model was established using the package "rms" version 4.3. The model was internally validated using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC). Additionally, the decision curve analysis (DCA) was performed to evaluate the performance of the nomogram model., Results: The results from the logistic regression analysis revealed that being male, smoking, duration of diabetes, glycated hemoglobin, hyperlipidemia, and atherosclerosis were influencing factors for diabetic foot (all P<0.05). The AUC of the model in predicting diabetic foot was 0.804, with a sensitivity of 75.3% and specificity of 74.4%. Harrell's C-index of the nomogram prediction model for diabetic foot was 0.804 (95% CI: 0.762-0.844), with a threshold value of >0.675. The increased incidence of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has seriously affected the life quality of patients. IBD develops due to excessive intestinal epithelial cell (IEC) apoptosis, disrupting the gut barrier, colonizing harmful bacteria, and initiating persistent inflammation. The current therapeutic approaches that reduce inflammation are limited. Although IBD can be treated significantly by directly preventing IEC apoptosis, achieving this therapeutic approach remains challenging. Accordingly, the authors are the first to develop an oral pifithrin-α (PFTα, a highly specific p53 inhibitor) embedded nanomedicine (OPEN) to effectively treat IBD by inhibiting excessive IEC apoptosis. As a major hub for various stressors, p53 is a central determinant of cell fate, and its inhibition can effectively reduce excessive IEC apoptosis. The tailored OPEN can precisely inhibit the off-target and inactivation resulting from PFTα entry into the bloodstream. Subsequently, it persistently targets IBD lesions with high specificity to inhibit the pathological events caused by excessive IEC apoptosis. Eventually, OPEN exerts a significant curative effect compared with the clinical first-line drugs 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA) and dexamethasone (DEX). Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a disease of pulmonary artery stenosis and blockage caused by abnormal pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells (PASMCs), with high morbidity and mortality. High levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in pulmonary arteries play a crucial role in inducing phenotypic switch and abnormal proliferation of PASMCs. However, antioxidants are rarely approved for the treatment of PH because of a lack of targeting and low bioavailability. In this study, the presence of an enhanced permeability and retention effect (EPR)-like effect in the pulmonary arteries of PH is revealed by tissue transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Subsequently, for the first time, tungsten-based polyoxometalate nanodots (WNDs) are developed with potent elimination of multiple ROS for efficient treatment of PH thanks to the high proportion of reduced W 5+ . WNDs are effectively enriched in the pulmonary artery by intravenous injection because of the EPR-like effect of PH, and significantly prevent the abnormal proliferation of PASMCs, greatly improve the remodeling of pulmonary arteries, and ultimately improve right heart function. Non-invasive localization of lesions and specific targeted therapy are still the main challenges for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Ta, as a medical metal element, has been widely used in the treatment of different diseases because of its excellent physicochemical properties but is still far from being explored in IBD. Here, Ta 2 C modified with chondroitin sulfate (CS) (TACS) is evaluated as a highly targeted therapy nanomedicine for IBD. Specifically, TACS is modified with dual targeting CS functions due to IBD lesion-specific positive charges and high expression of CD44 receptors. Thanks to the acid stability, sensitive CT imaging function, and strong reactive oxygen species (ROS) elimination ability, oral TACS can accurately locate and delineate IBD lesions through non-invasive CT imaging, and specifically targeted treat IBD effectively because high levels of ROS are a central factor in the progression of IBD. As expected, TACS has much better imaging and therapeutic effects than clinical CT contrast agent and first-line drug 5-aminosalicylic acid, respectively. The mechanism of TACS treatment mainly involves protection of mitochondria, elimination of oxidative stress, inhibiting macrophage M1 polarization, protection of intestinal barrier, and restoration of intestinal flora balance. Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a commonly encountered syndrome associated with various aetiologies and pathophysiological processes leading to enormous health risks and economic losses. In the absence of specific drugs to treat AKI, hemodialysis remains the primary clinical treatment for AKI patients. The revelation of the pathology opens new horizons for antioxidant therapy in the treatment of AKI. However, small molecule antioxidant drugs and common nanozymes have failed to challenge AKI due to their unsatisfactory drug properties and renal physiological barriers. 0-Dimensional (0D) antioxidant nanodrugs stand out at this time thanks to their small size and high performance. Recently, a number of research studies have been carried out around 0D nanodrugs for alleviating AKI, and their multi-antioxidant enzyme mimetic activities, smooth glomerular filtration barrier permeability and excellent biocompatibility have been investigated. Here, we comprehensively summarize recent advances in 0D nanodrugs for AKI antioxidant therapy. We classify these representative studies into three categories according to the characteristics of 0D nanomaterials, namely ultra-small metal nanodots, inorganic non-metallic quantum dots and polymer nanodots. We focus on the antioxidant mechanisms and their distribution in vivo in each inspiring work, and the purpose and ingenuity of each design are rigorously captured and described. Finally, we provide our reflections and prospects for 0D antioxidant nanodrugs in AKI treatment. This mini review provides unique insights and valuable clues in the design of 0D nanodrugs and other kidney absorbable drugs.

The fast conversion of hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) into reactive oxygen species (ROS) at tumor sites is a promising anticancer strategy by manipulating nanomedicines with near-infrared light in the second region (NIR-II). However, this strategy is greatly compromised by the powerful antioxidant capacity of tumors and the limited ROS generation rate of nanomedicines. This dilemma mainly stems from the lack of an effective synthesis method to support high-density copper-based nanocatalysts on the surface of photothermal nanomaterials. Herein, a multifunctional nanoplatform (MCPQZ) with high-density cuprous (Cu 2 O) supported molybdenum disulfide (MoS 2 ) nanoflowers (MC NFs) is developed for the efficient killing of tumors via a potent ROS storm by an innovative method. Under NIR-II light irradiation, the ROS intensity and maximum reaction velocity (V max ) produced by MC NFs are 21.6 and 33.8 times that of the non-irradiation group in vitro, which is much higher than most current nanomedicines. Moreover, the strong ROS storm in cancer cells is efficiently formed by MCPQZ (increased by 27.8 times compared to the control), thanks to the fact that MCPQZ effectively pre-weakens the multiple antioxidant systems of cancer cells. Preventing islet β-cells death is crucial for treating type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Currently, clinical drugs are being developed to improve the quality of T2DM care and self-care, but drugs focused on reducing islets β-cell death are lacking. Given that β-cell death in T2DM is dominated ultimately by excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS), eliminating excessive ROS in β-cells is a highly promising therapeutic strategy. Nevertheless, no antioxidants have been approved for T2DM therapy because most of them cannot meet the long-term and stable elimination of ROS in β-cells without eliciting toxic side-effects. Here, it is proposed to restore the endogenous antioxidant capacity of β-cells to efficiently prevent β-cell death using selenium nanodots (SENDs), a prodrug of the antioxidant enzyme glutathione peroxidase 1 (GPX1). SENDs not only scavenge ROS effectively, but also "send" selenium precisely to β-cells with ROS response to greatly enhance the antioxidant capacity of β-cells by increasing GPX1 expression. Therefore, SENDs greatly rescue β-cells by restoring mitophagy and alleviating endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS), and demonstrate much stronger efficacy than the first-line drug metformin for T2DM treatment. Oral antioxidant nanozymes bring great promise for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) treatment. To efficiently eliminate reactive oxygen species (ROS), various metal-based nanozymes have been developed for the treatment of IBD but their practical applications are seriously impaired by unstable ROS-eliminating properties and potential metal ion leakage in the digestive tract. Here, the authors for the first time propose metal-free melanin nanozymes (MeNPs) with excellent gastrointestinal stability and biocompatibility as a favorable therapy strategy for IBD. Moreover, MeNPs have extremely excellent natural and long-lasting characteristics of targeting IBD lesions. In view of the dominant role of ROS in IBD, the authors further reveal that oral administration of MeNPs can greatly alleviate the six major pathological features of IBD: oxidative stress, endoplasmic reticulum stress, apoptosis, inflammation, gut barrier disruption, and gut dysbiosis. Acute kidney injury has always been considered a sword of Damocles over hospitalized patients and has received increasing attention due to its high morbidity, elevated mortality, and poor prognosis. Hence, AKI has a serious detrimental impact not only on the patients, but also on the whole society and the associated health insurance systems. Redox imbalance caused by bursts of reactive oxygen species at the renal tubules is the key cause of the structural and functional impairment of the kidney during AKI. Unfortunately, the failure of conventional antioxidant drugs complicates the clinical management of AKI, which is limited to mild supportive therapies. Nanotechnology-mediated antioxidant therapies represent a promising strategy for AKI management. In recent years, two-dimensional (2D) nanomaterials, a new subtype of nanomaterials with ultrathin layer structure, have shown significant advantages in AKI therapy owing to their ultrathin structure, large specific surface area, and unique kidney targeting. Due to the high incidence of kidney disease, there is an urgent need to develop wearable artificial kidneys. This need is further exacerbated by the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic. However, the dialysate regeneration system of the wearable artificial kidney has a low adsorption capacity for urea, which severely limits its application. Therefore, nanomaterials that can effectively remove uremic toxins, especially urea, to regenerate dialysate are required and should be further investigated and developed. Herein, flower-like molybdenum disulphide (MoS 2 ) nanosheets decorated with highly dispersed cerium oxide (CeO 2 ) were prepared (MoS 2 /CeO 2 ), and their adsorption performances for urea, creatinine, and uric acid were studied in detail. Due to the open interlayer structures and the combination of MoS 2 and CeO 2 , which can provide abundant adsorption active sites, the MoS 2 /CeO 2 nanomaterials present excellent uremic toxin adsorption activities. Further, uremic toxin adsorption capacities were also assessed using a self-made fixed bed device under dynamic conditions, with the aim of developing MoS 2 /CeO 2 for the practical adsorption of uremic toxins. In addition, the biocompatibility of MoS 2 /CeO 2 was systematically analyzed using hemocompatibility and cytotoxicity assays. Our data suggest that MoS 2 /CeO 2 can be safely used for applications requiring close contact with blood. Cancer immunotherapy effect can be greatly enhanced by other methods to induce immunogenic cell death (ICD), which has profoundly affected immunotherapy as a highly efficient paradigm. However, these treatments have significant limitations, either by causing damage of the immune system or limited to superficial tumors. Sonodynamic therapy (SDT) can induce ICD to promote immunotherapy without affecting the immune system because of its excellent spatiotemporal selectivity and low side effects. Nevertheless, SDT is still limited by low reactive oxygen species yield and the complex tumor microenvironment. Recently, some emerging SDT-based nanomedicines have made numerous attractive and encouraging achievements in the field of cancer immunotherapy due to high immunotherapeutic efficiency. However, this cross-cutting field of research is still far from being widely explored due to huge professional barriers. Herein, the characteristics of the tumor immune microenvironment and the mechanisms of ICD are firstly systematically summarized. Subsequently, the therapeutic mechanism of SDT is fully summarized, and the advantages and limitations of SDT are discussed. The representative advances of SDT-based nanomedicines for cancer immunotherapy are further highlighted. Periodontal disease (PD) is a local inflammatory disease with high morbidity, manifesting tissue destruction results from inflammation of the host immune response to bacterial antigens and irritants. The supportive function of connective tissue and skeletal tissue can be jeopardized without prompt and effective intervention, representing the major cause of tooth loss. However, traditional treatments exhibited great limitations, such as low efficacies, causing serious side effects and recurrent inflammatory episodes. As a major defense mechanism, reactive oxygen species (ROS) play important roles in the pathological progression of PD. Antioxidant therapy is widely believed to be an effective strategy for ROS-triggered diseases, including oxidative stress-induced PD. Most antioxidants can only scavenge one or a few limited kinds of ROS and cannot handle all kinds. In addition, current antioxidant nanomaterials present limitations associated with toxicity, low stability, and poor biocompatibility. To this end, we develop ultra-small molybdenum-based nanodots (MoNDs) with strong ROS in oxidative stress-induced PD. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that MoNDs have been used for PD. In the present study, MoNDs have shown extremely good therapeutic effects as ROS scavengers. Spectroscopic and in vitro experiments provided strong evidence for the roles of MoNDs in eliminating multiple ROS and inhibiting ROS-induced inflammatory responses. In addition, the mouse model of PD was established and demonstrated the feasibility of MoNDs as powerful antioxidants. It can alleviate periodontal inflammation by scavenging multiple ROS without obvious side effects and exhibit good biocompatibility. Drug-induced liver injury (DILI) is a serious clinical disease associated with reactive oxygen species (ROS) burst and subsequent inflammatory responses. However, traditional treatments were limited by low efficacy and serious side effects due to the special liver structure. Here, we developed a molybdenum (Mo)-based nanoparticles, EGM NPs, after overall consideration of the pathophysiology of DILI and the advantages of nanodrugs. It demonstrated that EGM NPs treated acetaminophen (APAP)-induced DILI by scavenging ROS and inhibiting inflammation. EGM NPs effectively scavenged various ROS and reduced cell apoptosis at the cellular level. More importantly, EGM NPs can treat APAP-induced DILI in vivo , reducing the levels of liver function indicators in mice with liver injury, scaling down the area of hepatocyte necrosis and successfully inhibiting endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in the liver. EGM NPs also showed a certain anti-inflammatory effect by reducing infiltration of macrophages, decreasing pro-inflammatory factors and inhibiting the expression levels of inducible nitric oxide synthase (NOS2) and myeloperoxidase (MPO). Immunotherapy has revolutionized cancer treatment, dramatically improving survival rates of melanoma and lung cancer patients. Nevertheless, immunotherapy is almost ineffective against ovarian cancer (OC) due to its cold tumor immune microenvironment (TIM). Many traditional medications aimed at remodeling TIM are often associated with severe systemic toxicity, require frequent dosing, and show only modest clinical efficacy. In recent years, emerging nanomedicines have demonstrated extraordinary immunotherapeutic effects for OC by reversing the TIM because the physical and biochemical features of nanomedicines can all be harnessed to obtain optimal and expected tissue distribution and cellular uptake. However, nanomedicines are far from being widely explored in the field of OC immunotherapy due to the lack of appreciation for the professional barriers of nanomedicine and pathology, limiting the horizons of biomedical researchers and materials scientists. Herein, a typical cold tumor-OC is adopted as a paradigm to introduce the classification of TIM, the TIM characteristics of OC, and the advantages of nanomedicines for immunotherapy. Subsequently, current nanomedicines are comprehensively summarized through five general strategies to substantially enhance the efficacy of immunotherapy by heating the cold OC. Currently, there are no clinical drugs available to treat acute kidney injury (AKI). Given the high prevalence and high mortality rate of AKI, the development of drugs to effectively treat AKI is a huge unmet medical need and a research hotspot. Although existing evidence fully demonstrates that reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (RONS) burst at the AKI site is a major contributor to AKI progression, the heterogeneity, complexity, and unique physiological structure of the kidney make most antioxidant and anti-inflammatory small molecule drugs ineffective because of the lack of kidney targeting and side effects. Recently, nanodrugs with intrinsic kidney targeting through the control of size, shape, and surface properties have opened exciting prospects for the treatment of AKI. Many antioxidant nanodrugs have emerged to address the limitations of current AKI treatments. In this review, we systematically summarized for the first time about the emerging nanodrugs that exploit the pathological and physiological features of the kidney to overcome the limitations of traditional small-molecule drugs to achieve high AKI efficacy. First, we analyzed the pathological structural characteristics of AKI and the main pathological mechanism of AKI: hypoxia, harmful substance accumulation-induced RONS burst at the renal site despite the multifactorial initiation and heterogeneity of AKI. Subsequently, we introduced the strategies used to improve renal targeting and reviewed advances of nanodrugs for AKI: nano-RONS-sacrificial agents, antioxidant nanozymes, and nanocarriers for antioxidants and anti-inflammatory drugs. These nanodrugs have demonstrated excellent therapeutic effects, such as greatly reducing oxidative stress damage, restoring renal function, and low side effects. Mitochondrial-targeted antioxidant therapy is very promising because mitochondria are the main source of ROS in AKI. Antioxidant nanodrugs with actively targeted mitochondria have achieved encouraging success in many oxidative stress-induced diseases. However, most strategies to actively target mitochondria make the size of nanodrugs too large to pass through the glomerular system to reach the renal tubules, the main damage site of AKI. Here, an ultra-small Tungsten-based nanodots (TWNDs) with strong ROS scavenging can be very effective for treatment of AKI. TWNDs can reach the tubular site after crossing the glomerular barrier, and enter the mitochondria of the renal tubule without resorting to complex active targeting strategies. To our knowledge, this is the first time that ultra-small negatively charged nanodots can be used to passively target mitochondrial therapy for AKI. Through in-depth study of the therapeutic mechanism, such passive mitochondria-targeted TWNDs are highly effective in protecting mitochondria by reducing mitochondrial ROS and increasing mitophagy. In addition, TWNDs can also reduce the infiltration of inflammatory cells. Cancer cell lysosomes contain various hydrolases and non-degraded substrates that are corrosive enough to destroy cancer cells. However, many traditional small molecule drugs targeting lysosomes have strong side effects because they cannot effectively differentiate between normal and cancer cells. Most lysosome-based research has focused on inducing mild lysosomal membrane permeabilization (LMP) to release anticancer drugs from lysosomal traps into the cancer cell cytoplasm. In fact, lysosomes are particularly powerful "bombs". Achieving cancer cell-selective LMP induction may yield high-efficiency anticancer effects and extremely low side effects. Nanodrugs have diverse and combinable properties and can be specifically designed to selectively induce LMP in cancer cells by taking advantage of the differences between cancer cells and normal cells. Although nanodrugs-induced LMP has made great progress recently, related reviews remain rare. Herein, we first comprehensively summarize the advances in nanodrugs-induced LMP. Next, we describe the different nanodrugs-induced LMP strategies, namely nanoparticles aggregation-induced LMP, chemodynamic therapy (CDT)-induced LMP, and magnetic field-induced LMP. Finally, we analyze the prospect of nanodrugs-induced LMP and the challenges to overcome. DNA is always one of the most important targets for cancer therapy due to its leading role in the proliferation of cancer cells. Phototherapy kills cancer cells by generating reactive oxygen species (ROS) and local hyperthermia under light. It has attracted extensive interest in the clinical treatment of tumors because of many advantages such as non-invasiveness, high patient compliance, and low toxicity and side effects. However, the short ROS diffusion distance and limited thermal diffusion rate make it difficult for phototherapy to damage DNA deep in the nucleus. Therefore, nucleus-targeting phototherapy that can destroy DNAs via in-situ generation of ROS and high temperature can be a very effective strategy to address this bottleneck. Recently, some emerging nucleus-targeting phototherapy nanodrugs have demonstrated extremely effective anticancer effects. However, reviews in the field are still rarely reported. Here, we comprehensively summarized recent advances in nucleus-targeting phototherapy in recent years. We classified nucleus-targeting phototherapy into three categories based on the characteristics of these nucleus-targeting strategies. The first category is the passive targeting strategy, which mainly targets the nucleus by adjusting the physicochemical characteristics of phototherapy nanomedicines. The second category is to mediate the phototherapy nanodrugs into the nucleus by modifying functional groups that actively target the nucleus. The third category is to assist nanodrugs enter into the nucleus in a light-controlled way. Finally, we provided our insights and prospects for nucleus-targeting phototherapy nanodrugs. Many factors such as trauma and COVID-19 cause acute kidney injury (AKI). Late AKI have a very high incidence and mortality rate. Early diagnosis of AKI provides a critical therapeutic time window for AKI treatment to prevent progression to chronic renal failure. However, the current clinical detection based on creatinine and urine output isn't effective in diagnosing early AKI. In recent years, the early diagnosis of AKI has made great progress with the advancement of information technology, nanotechnology, and biomedicine. These emerging methods are mainly divided into two aspects: First, predicting AKI through models construct by machine learning; Second, early diagnosis of AKI through detection of newly-discovered early biomarkers. Currently, these methods have shown great potential and become an attractive tool for the early diagnosis of AKI. Therefore, it is very important to discuss and summarize these methods for the early diagnosis of AKI. In this review, we first systematically summarize the application of machine learning in AKI prediction algorithms and specific scenarios. In addition, we introduce the key role of early biomarkers in the progress of AKI, and then comprehensively summarize the application of emerging detection technologies for early AKI. Finally, we discuss current challenges and prospects of machine learning and biomarker detection. Radiotherapy (RT), as one of the main methods of clinical tumor treatment, has been applied to the treatment of most solid tumors. However, the effect of RT is compromised by the radiation resistance of tumor hypoxic environment and non-specific damage caused by high-dose radiation. Bismuth chalcogenides (Bi 2 X 3 , X = S, Se) based nanodrugs have attracted widespread attention as highly efficient radiosensitizers due to their high photoelectric effect and excellent biocompatibility. More importantly, specially designed nanocomposites can effectively alleviate the radiation resistance of tumor tissues. Here, for the first time, we systematically summarize the latest progresses of Bi 2 X 3 nanodrugs to enhance RT by alleviating the hypoxic tumor microenvironment. These emerging Bi 2 X 3 nanodrugs mainly include three aspects, which are Bi 2 X 3 nanocomposites with high-efficient O 2 supply, non-O 2 -dependent Bi 2 X 3 nanocomposites RT enhancers, and Bi 2 X 3 nanocomposites-based photothermal-enhanced radiosensitizers. These Bi 2 X 3 nanodrugs can effectively overcome the RT resistance of tumor hypoxic microenvironment, and have extremely high therapeutic effects and clinical application prospects. The grand challenges of ovarian cancer early diagnosis have led to an alarmingly high mortality rate from ovarian cancer (OC) in the past half century. In vitro diagnosis (IVD) has great potential in the early diagnosis of OC through non-invasive and dynamic analysis of biomarkers. However, common IVDs often fail to provide reliable test results due to lack of sensitivity, specificity, and convenience. In recent years, the discovery of new biomarkers and the progress of nanomaterials can solve the shortcomings of traditional IVD for early OC. These emerging biosensors based on nanomaterials offer great improvements in convenience, speed, selectivity, and sensitivity of IVD. In this review, we firstly systematically summarized the limits of commercial IVD biosensors of OC and the latest discovery of new biomarkers for OC. The representative optimization strategies for six potential ovarian cancer biomarkers are systematically discussed with emphasis on nanomaterial selection and the design of detection principles. Then, various strategies adopted by emerging biosensors based on nanomaterials are also introduced in detail, including optical, electrochemical, microfluidic, and surface plasmon sensors. Mitochondria, as one of the most critical subcellular organelles of cancer cells, are very vulnerable and often on the verge of oxidative stress. The classic chemodynamic therapy (CDT) directly employs endogenous chemical energy to trigger reactive oxygen species (ROS) burst and destroy tumor cells. However, the effectiveness of CDT is restricted by the limited diffusion distance and short half-life of ROS. From this perspective, the treatment method (mitochondria-targeting chemodynamic therapy nanodrugs, M-CDT nanodrugs) that can generate high levels of ROS at the mitochondrial site is extremely efficient and promising for cancer treatment. Currently, many emerging M-CDT nanodrugs have been demonstrated excellent spatial specificity and anti-cancer efficacy. In this minireview, we review various proof-of-concept researches based on different M-CDT nanodrugs designs to overcome the limits of the efficacy of CDT, mainly divided into four strategies: supplying H 2 O 2 , non-H 2 O 2 dependent CDT, eliminating GSH and enhancing by hyperthermia therapy (HT). These well-designed M-CDT nanodrugs greatly increase the efficacy of CDT. In the present study, we hypothesized that buckwheat honey (BH) should be regarded as a potential alternative to antibacterial and antioxidant agent in liquid storage of boar semen. To this end, boar semen was firstly studied for in vitro dose tolerability to BH by measuring sperm progressive motility. The optimum progressive motility of boar spermatozoa was observed in extender with 0.5% and 0.6% BH addition. Afterward, sperm quality parameters, bacterial profile and composition, total antioxidant (T-AOC), catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels of control, BH supplementation, antibiotics supplementation, and incorporated supplementation were compared during liquid storage period, to further investigate antibacterial and antioxidant properties of BH. The results showed that BH supplementation significantly improved sperm motility, acrosome integrity, plasma membrane integrity, inhibited opportunistic bacterial growth, and altered microbial compositions at the end of preservation. Additionally, T-AOC, SOD, and CAT levels were significantly higher in the BH supplementation group than those in the control and antibiotic supplementation group, whereas MDA level exhibited opposite change pattern. Importantly, BH addition to the extender was able to exert a synergistic effect in combination of antibiotic use. With the acceleration of urban development, the amount of municipal solid waste (MSW) has increased dramatically. In order to recycle MSW more efficiently, a compulsory policy of sorting MSW has been enacted in China. According to the existing literature, attitude is an important factor affecting public's MSW sorting behavior. To explore the Chinese residents' emotional tendency towards the MSW sorting policy, this study analyzed the data of Sina Weibo users and their comments on related popular posts. Meanwhile, text mining technology was employed to analyze the collected data. Results showed that although a large proportion of the Chinese public has a positive attitude towards the MSW sorting policy, the proportion of people with negative emotions reached nearly half. In addition, it was found that the Chinese people in different regions pay different attentions to the MSW sorting policy. Results further revealed that the main reasons for the public's negative emotions were fines, MSW sorting rules, fees, timing of throwing waste, and irregular recycling procedures. Background: The mammalian intestinal tract harbors diverse and dynamic microbial communities that play pivotal roles in host health, metabolism, immunity, and development. Average daily gain (ADG) is an important growth trait in meat rabbit industry. The effects of gut microbiota on ADG in meat rabbits are still unknown., Results: In this study, we investigated the dynamic distribution of gut microbiota in commercial Ira rabbits from weaning to finishing and uncover the relationship between the microbiota and average daily gain (ADG) via 16S rRNA gene sequencing. The results indicated that the richness and diversity of gut microbiota significantly increased with age. Gut microbial structure was less variable among finishing rabbits than among weaning rabbits. The relative abundances of the dominant phyla Firmicutes, Bacteroidetes, Verrucomicrobia and Cyanobacteria, and the 15 predominant genera significantly varied with age. Metagenomic prediction analysis showed that both KOs and KEGG pathways related to the metabolism of monosaccharides and vitamins were enriched in the weaning rabbits, while those related to the metabolism of amino acids and polysaccharides were more abundant in the finishing rabbits. We identified 34 OTUs, 125 KOs, and 25 KEGG pathways that were significantly associated with ADG. OTUs annotation suggested that butyrate producing bacteria belong to the family Ruminococcaceae and Bacteroidales&#95;S24-7&#95;group were positively associated with ADG. Conversely, Eubacterium&#95;coprostanoligenes&#95;group, Christensenellaceae&#95;R-7&#95;group, and opportunistic pathogens were negatively associated with ADG. Both KOs and KEGG pathways correlated with the metabolism of vitamins, basic amino acids, and short chain fatty acids (SCFAs) showed positive correlations with ADG, while those correlated with aromatic amino acids metabolism and immune response exhibited negative correlations with ADG. In addition, our results suggested that 10.42% of the variation in weaning weight could be explained by the gut microbiome., Conclusions: Our findings give a glimpse into the dynamic shifts in gut microbiota of meat rabbits and provide a theoretical basis for gut microbiota modulation to improve ADG in the meat rabbit industry.

Weaning weight is an important economic trait in the meat rabbit industry. Evidence has linked the gut microbiota to health and production performance in rabbits. However, the effect of gut microbiota on meat rabbit weaning weight remains unclear. In this study, we performed 16S rRNA gene sequencing analysis of 135 faecal samples from commercial Ira rabbits. We detected 50 OTUs significantly associated with weaning weight. OTUs that showed positive associations with weaning weight were mostly members of the family Ruminococcaceae which are important in degrading dietary fibres and producing butyrate. On the contrary, OTUs annotated to genera Blautia, Lachnoclostridium and Butyricicoccus correlated with fat deposition were negatively associated with weaning weight. Predicted functional capacity analysis revealed that 91 KOs and 26 KEGG pathways exhibited potential correlations with weaning weight. We found that gut microbiota involved in the metabolism of amino acids, butanoate, energy and monosaccharides affected weaning weight. Additionally, cross-validation analysis indicated that 16.16% of the variation in weaning weight was explained by the gut microbiome. Microphthalmia-associated transcription factor ( MITF ) is a key regulator for the development and function of melanocytes in skin, eye, and plumage pigmentations. Thus, the MITF was selected as a candidate gene associated with plumage coloration in ducks. This study analyzed the mRNA expression, promoter methylation, and polymorphisms in the MITF gene in ducks with different plumage colors (Putian Black, Putian White, Liancheng White, and Longsheng Jade-green). No expression of the MITF melanin-specific isoform ( MITF-M ) was detected in white feather bulbs. By contrast, the mRNA expression levels of MITF-M were high in black feather bulbs. Bioinformatics analysis showed that two CpG islands were present in the promoter region of the MITF gene. The methylation level of the second CpG island was significantly lower in black feather bulbs than in white feather bulbs. However, the methylation level of the first CpG island was not different among the feather bulbs with various colors except Liancheng White feather bulbs. The methylation status of the whole CpG island significantly and negatively correlated with the mRNA expression of MITF-M ( P < 0.05). Furthermore, four novel SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms) were identified in the 5'UTR, exon 4, intron 7, and intron 8 of the MITF gene. Allele T in g.39807T>G and allele G in g.40862G>A were the predominant alleles only found in Putian White, whereas the variant A allele in g.32813G>A exhibited a high allele frequency in Liancheng White. Mitochondrial dysfunctions induced by oxidative stress could play a pivotal role in the development of testicular damage and degeneration, leading to impaired fertility in adulthood. MitoQ as mitochondria-targeted antioxidant has been used in many diseases for a long time, but its therapeutic effects on testicular injury 'have not been reported yet. Here, we examined the protective action mechanism of MitoQ on testicular injury from oxidative stress induced by triptolide (TP). Mice were orally administrated with MitoQ (1.3, 2.6 and 5 .2mg/kg, respectively) in a TP-induced model of testicular damage for 14 days. And then testis injuries were comprehensively evaluated in terms of morphological changes, spermatogenesis assessment, blood-testis barrier (BTB) integrity, and apoptosis. The results demonstrated MitoQ effectively increased testicular weight, maintained the integrity of BTB, protected microstructure of testicular tissue and sperm morphology by inhibition of oxidative stress. Further mechanism studies revealed that MitoQ markedly activates the Keap1-Nrf2 antioxidative defense system characterized by increasing the expression of Nrf2 and its target genes HO-1 and NQO1. Meanwhile, MitoQ upregulated the expression of mitochondrial dynamics proteins Mfn2 and Drp-1and exerted a protective effect on mitochondria. On this basis, the results from pharmacokinetic study indicated that the MitoQ could enter into testis tissues after oral administration in despite of the low absolute bioavailability, which provided the material basis for MitoQ in the treatment of testicular damage. More importantly, MitoQ reached mitochondria quickly and had an outstanding feature of mitochondria targeting in Sertoli cells. Objective: Uncoupling protein 3 gene (UCP3) is a candidate gene associated with the meat quality of pigs. The aim of this study was to explore the regulation mechanism of UCP3 expression and provide a theoretical basis for the research of the function of porcine UCP3 gene in meat quality., Methods: Bisulfite sequencing polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and quantitative real-time PCR (Q-PCR) were used to analyze the methylation of UCP3 5'-flanking region and UCP3 mRNA expression in the adipose tissue or skeletal muscle of three pig breeds at different ages (1, 90, 210-day-old Putian Black pig; 90-day-old Duroc; and 90-day-old Dupu)., Results: Results showed that two cytosine-guanine dinucleotide (CpG) islands are present in the promoter region of porcine UCP3 gene. The second CpG island located in the core promoter region contained 9 CpG sites. The methylation level of CpG island 2 was lower in the adipose tissue and skeletal muscle of 90-day-old Putian Black pigs compared with 1-day-old and 210-day-old Putian Black pigs, and the difference also existed in the skeletal muscle among the three 90-day-old pig breeds. Furthermore, the obvious changing difference of UCP3 mRNA expression was observed in the skeletal muscle of different groups. However, the difference of methylation status and expression level of UCP3 gene was not significant in the adipose tissue., Conclusion: Our data indicate that UCP3 mRNA expression level was associated with the methylation status of UCP3 promoter in the skeletal muscle of pigs.
