Anesthesia-induced neurotoxicity is a major concern for anesthetists for more than 20 years. Many experimental and clinical studies have been conducted on this topic since late 1990s. However, bibliometric analysis of these papers has not been reported. In this study, we aimed to analyze the 100 most cited articles on anesthesia-induced neurotoxicity. It was planned as cross-sectional study. On January 30, 2023, we searched the "Web of Science (WOS)" database for anesthesia-induced neurotoxicity and most cited 100 papers about this topic were obtained. Data such as authors' names, year of publication, name of the journal, type of paper, and citation numbers were analyzed. The most cited 100 papers were read by the investigators, and the anesthetic, animal type in experimental studies, any protective agent and the method for detecting neurotoxicity used in the studies were also noted. There were 75 articles and 22 reviews in the 100 most cited articles. We found that most of the papers in most cited 100 list were published between 2010 to 1024. Most of the papers (11%) were from Harvard University and almost half of the papers (49%) were published in Anesthesiology. A great number of studies were performed in newborns or early childhood (85.5%) and inhalational anesthetics (54.7%) were the most studied anesthetic type. Most of the most cited 100 papers were published in Q1 journals (P = .012) and the continent of the most journals in this list was America (P = .014). The median total and annual citation numbers of funded papers were statistically significantly higher (P < .001 and P < .001 respectively). Anesthesia-induced neurotoxicity is very important, especially for pediatric anesthetists. This study is the first to conduct a bibliometric analysis of the most cited 100 publications on this field. Background: Numerous studies have explored the most productive and influential authors in a specific field. However, 2 challenges arise when conducting such research. First, some authors may have identical names in the study data, and second, the contributions of coauthors may vary in the article by line, requiring consideration. Failure to address these issues may result in biased research findings. Our objective was to illustrate how the author-weighted scheme (AWS) and betweenness centrality (BC) can be employed to identify the 10 most frequently cited authors in a particular journal and analyze their research themes., Methods: We collected 24,058 abstracts from the PubMed library between 2000 and 2020 using the keyword "Medicine [Journal]." Author names, countries/regions, and medical subject headings (MeSH terms) were collected. The AWS to identify the top 10 authors with a higher x-index was applied. To address the issue of authors with identical names affiliated with different research institutes, we utilized the BC method. Social network analysis (SNA) was conducted, and 10 major clusters were identified to highlight authors with a higher x-index within the corresponding clusters. We utilized SNA to analyze the MeSH terms from articles of the 10 top-cited authors to identify their research themes., Results: Our findings revealed the following: within the top 10 cited authors, 2 authors from China shared identical names with Jing Li and Tao-Wang; JA Winkelstein from Maryland (US) had the highest x-index (15.58); Chia-Hung Kao from Taiwan was the most prolific author, having published 115 articles in Medicine since 2003; and the 3 primary research themes, namely, complications, etiology, and epidemiology, were identified using MeSH terms from the 10 most frequently cited authors., Conclusions: Using AWS and BC, we identified the top 10 most cited authors. Background: This study explored the validity and reliability of brief pain inventory (BPI) and pain detection questionnaire (PD-Q) based on WeChat and paper versions for collecting data on patients with herpes zoster-induced neuralgia., Methods: The study participants were 160 patients with herpes zoster-induced neuralgia admitted in our hospital from December 2017 to June 2020. Initially, the participants were randomly divided into group A (n = 80) and group B (n = 80). Then, they were required to complete the Chinese versions of the BPI and PD-Q. In group A, the WeChat version was finished first, followed by the paper version. In group B, the paper version was completed first, followed by the WeChat version. Then, the test-retest reliability was analyzed by comparing the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) between the 2 groups. Bland-Altman plots and Pearson correlation coefficient were used to analyze the concordance between the paper and WeChat versions., Results: Patients generally preferred the WeChat version of the BPI and PD-Q, particularly men and patients with pain duration ≥ 30 minutes. Specifically, no significant differences in the completion time of the BPI and PD-Q was found between the 2 groups. All patients had high test-retest reliability and internal consistency for both WeChat and paper versions (BPI: ICC, 0.913; Cronbach alpha coefficient, 0.959; PD-Q: ICC, 0.825; Cronbach alpha coefficient, 0.894). Bland-Altman plots indicated no significant systematic deviations between the WeChat and paper versions. Cancer has been the major and increasing cause of premature death and years of life lost. Various studies suggested the correlation between the aging process and cancer genesis. To evaluate the performance of the articles and to identify and compare the top-cited articles on aging and cancer, a cross-sectional bibliometric analysis was performed. Top-cited articles that were indexed in the Core databases in Web of Science were utilized to identify articles published from inception to September 3, 2022. The top 100 most-cited articles on aging and cancer were evaluated for their specific characteristics. Both Microsoft Office Excel and Visual Basic for Applications were used to analyze the number of publications and scientific cooperations among authors over time. The query identified the top 100 most-cited articles from the 368,504 articles. The top cited articles accumulated 308,106 citations. The citations per article ranged from 39,141 to 1040. Thirty journals published these 100 articles, with the Ca-A Cancer Journal for Clinicians publishing the largest number. Most articles have focused on the trend analysis of incidence, survival outcomes, and prognosis of cancer from different origins. Co-authorship analysis revealed intense collaborative activity between United States authoritative academic institutions and scholars. The present study is the first to analyze most cited papers in "aging and cancer." The historical trends, current status, and future direction in the field of older patients with cancer are systematically summarized. This study aimed to identify, characterize, and map the important attributes of the top 100 most cited papers on BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes. The scientific literature on BRCA1 and BRCA2 was searched in the Web of Science Core Collection database using the keywords "BRCA1" OR "BRCA2" (Title). The top 100 most cited papers were selected based on citations. The obtained data were exported into HistCiteTM, RStudio, and VOSviewer software for prerequisite analysis. The top 100 most cited papers on BRCA1 and BRCA2 were authored by 932 authors from 24 countries and published in 27 journals. These papers were cited 79,713 times, ranging from 441 to 4671 citations. The highly cited paper was cited 4671 times and published in Science (1994). The leading author, journal, publication year, institution, and country were Easton DF (n = 16), Nature Genetics (n = 11), 2002 (n = 11), University of Pennsylvania (n = 17), and the USA (n = 76), respectively. The results show that all the top 100 papers were produced in developed countries. The collaboration index among the authors was 9.49. The most frequently appeared keywords were ovarian-cancer, breast-cancer, mutations, gene, and familial breast. Background: We aimed to identify the 100 most cited articles published on peritoneal dialysis (PD) and analyze their characteristics to provide information on the achievements and developments of PD research over the past decades., Methods: The Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) in the Web of Science Core Collection was comprehensively searched from 2000 to 2018, using the keywords "Peritoneal dialysis" or "Dialyses, Peritoneal" or "Dialysis, Peritoneal" or "Peritoneal Dialyses". The top 100 cited articles were retrieved by reading titles and abstracts. Significant information was further elicited, including the authors, journals, countries, institutions, and publication year., Results: The United States was the most productive country (n = 51), Li Pkt published the highest number of papers (n = 7), the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology produced the highest number of contributions (n = 28), and Baxter International Inc., the University of California System, and the University of Toronto were the institutions with the highest number of articles (n = 10)., Conclusions: This is the first bibliometric study to identify the most influential papers in PD research. This report describes the major changes and advances in research regarding PD as a guide for writing a citable article.

Background: A better understanding of how multicomponent school-based interventions work and their effects on health and education outcomes are needed. This paper described the methods of the Movimente Program, a school-based intervention that aims to increase physical activity (PA) and decrease sedentary behavior (SB) among Brazilian students., Methods: This is a cluster randomized controlled trial with adolescents from 7th to 9th grade in public schools from Florianopolis, Southern Brazil. After agreement, 6 schools were randomly selected to intervention or control groups (3 schools each), and all eligible students were invited to the study. The Movimente intervention program was performed during a school year and included 3 main components: Teacher training (including face-to-face meeting, social media platform, and handbook with lesson plans); improvements in the PA environment in school; and educational strategies. Control schools continued with their traditional schedule. Baseline (March/April 2017), postintervention (November/December 2017), and maintenance (June/July 2018) evaluations included PA and SB as primary outcomes (assessed by self-report and accelerometry). Secondary outcomes included psychosocial factors related to PA and SB (e.g., social support and self-efficacy), as well as health (e.g., quality of life and nutritional status) and education (e.g., academic achievement) outcomes. A program evaluation was performed based on the RE-AIM framework. Participants, intervention staffs, and evaluators were not blinded to group assignment, but a standardized evaluation protocol was applied independently of the trial allocation., Results: Statistical analyses will include a multilevel approach for repeated measurements and mediation analysis. Any side effects of the intervention will be recorded. The sample size close to that expected (n = 1090) was reached (n = 999). The results of this trial will involve valuable information about the effect and the evaluation of a multicomponent intervention carried out in a middle-income country., Conclusion: By creating opportunities for adolescents to be active at school using multicomponent strategies, the Movimente program has the potential to enhance students health and academic performance which may encourage the school community (e.g., teachers, principals) to adopt the program. Objective: The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) was released as a standard of reporting systematic reviewers (SRs). However, not all SRs adhere completely to this standard. This study aimed to evaluate the reporting quality of SRs published in the Cochrane Library and paper-based journals., Methods: The SRs which evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions in 2016 were identified via PubMed. The reporting quality of selected articles was evaluated using the PRISMA checklist. For comparison, we divided these articles into Cochrane review (CR) and non-Cochrane review (NCR). Based on the satisfaction of the applicable criteria, each article is assigned an accumulated score and a total percentage score., Results: Overall, 41.7% articles were concentrated in 19.0 to 22.5 points which represent the moderate quality, 22% articles were high quality. There were still 36.5% articles with low quality. The mean PRISMA score was 20.54 ± 2.367 for CRs, and 18.81 ± 2.536 for NCRs. Although no significant difference was exit between overall CR and NCR scores, there were differences between items 1, 5, 8, 16, 23. Analysis indicated that CR was significantly associated with the overall PRISMA score., Conclusion: Compliance of CR and NCR with PRISMA checklist exhibited different strengths and weaknesses. Our study underscores that nursing researchers should pay more attention to comprehensive reporting of SRs in nursing to follow the PRISMA statement., Implications for Nursing And/or Health Policy: Nursing researchers who participate in SRs should follow the latest Cochrane Handbook to prepare such study. Meanwhile, the PRISMA statement should be followed strictly to report SRs, so as to improve the quality of SRs.

To prove the equivalence of the Korean version of the Foot and Ankle Outcome Score (FAOS) in the printed (PFAOS) vs the electronic (EFAOS) form in a multicenter randomized study.Overall, 227 patients with ages ranging from 20 to 79 years from 16 dedicated foot and ankle centers were included. Patients were randomized into either a 'paper first' group (P-F group, n = 113) or an 'electronic device (tablet computer) first' group (E-F group, n = 114). The first evaluation either by paper (P-F group) or tablet (E-F group) was followed by a second evaluation the following day. The difference between the PFAOS and EFAOS results in each group was calculated and analyzed. To evaluate the benefit of each methodology, the time consumed per evaluation was compared and patients were asked which methodology they preferred and which was the easiest to use.There were no significant differences in age or sex between the groups. An intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) value of 0.934 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.912-0.950, P < .001) was confirmed in PFAOS and EFAOS, showing a significant correlation between the 2 methodologies. EFAOS was completed in a shorter amount of time than PFAOS. The majority of patients agreed that EFAOS was easier to complete than PFAOS.The paper or electronic forms of the Korean adaptation of FAOS were considered equivalent. The shorter time of completion and the preference for the electronic version over paper by patients deems the electronic FAOS a promising option to consider in future.

Many researchers used National Health Insurance database to publish medical papers which are often retrospective, population-based, and cohort studies. However, the author's research domain and academic characteristics are still unclear.By searching the PubMed database (Pubmed.com), we used the keyword of [Taiwan] and [National Health Insurance Research Database], then downloaded 2913 articles published from 1995 to 2017. Social network analysis (SNA), Gini coefficient, and Google Maps were applied to gather these data for visualizing: the most productive author; the pattern of coauthor collaboration teams; and the author's research domain denoted by abstract keywords and Pubmed MESH (medical subject heading) terms.Utilizing the 2913 papers from Taiwan's National Health Insurance database, we chose the top 10 research teams shown on Google Maps and analyzed one author (Dr. Kao) who published 149 papers in the database in 2015. In the past 15 years, we found Dr. Kao had 2987 connections with other coauthors from 13 research teams. The cooccurrence abstract keywords with the highest frequency are cohort study and National Health Insurance Research Database. The most coexistent MESH terms are tomography, X-ray computed, and positron-emission tomography. The strength of the author research distinct domain is very low (Gini < 0.40).SNA incorporated with Google Maps and Gini coefficient provides insight into the relationships between entities. The results obtained in this study can be applied for a comprehensive understanding of other productive authors in the field of academics.

Medication adherence is crucial for success in the management of patients with chronic conditions. This study analyzes whether a mobile application on a tablet aimed at supporting drug intake and vital sign parameter documentation affects adherence in elderly patients.Patients with coronary heart disease and no prior knowledge of tablet computers were recruited. They received a personal introduction to the mobile application Medication Plan, installed on an Apple iPad. The study was conducted using a crossover design with 3 sequences: initial phase, interventional phase (28 days of using the app system), and comparative phase (28 days of using a paper diary). Users experienced the interventional and comparative phases alternately.A total of 24 patients (12 males; mean age 73.8 years) were enrolled in the study. The mean for subjectively assessed adherence (A14-scale; 5-point Likert scale, from "never" to "very often" which results in a score from 0 to 56) before the study was 50.0 (SD = 3.44). After both interventions there was a significant increase, which was more pronounced after the interventional phase (54.0; SD = 2.01) than after the comparative phase (52.6; SD = 2.49) (for all pairs after both interventions, P <0.001). Neither medical conditions nor the number of drug intake (amount and frequency of drug taking) per day affected subjective adherence. Logging data showed a significantly stronger adherence for the medication app than the paper system for both blood pressure recordings (P <0.001) and medication intake (P = 0.033). The majority of participants (n = 22) stated that they would like to use the medication app in their daily lives and would not need further assistance with the app.A mobile app for medication adherence increased objectively and subjectively measured adherence in elderly users undergoing rehabilitation. The findings have promising clinical implications: digital tools can assist chronic disease patients achieve adherence to medication and to blood pressure measurement. Digital management on sport (DMS) has become a hot topic around sports management. However, a more comprehensive and in-depth investigation into the structure and progression of this field is necessary. We used CiteSpace software to conduct a bibliometric analysis, revealing dynamic patterns in the evolution of co-citation, collaboration, and keyword co-occurrence within this field. Data gathers from the Web of Science Core Collection, which includes Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), Arts & Humanities Citation Index (A&HCI), Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) and Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-EXPANDED), and SCOPUS. Published works in this field have shown a consistent upward trend since 2013. England institutions are leading the way in cooperation, while the US is the most collaborative region with different priorities for collaboration in various topics. The most influential author is the one who receives the most citations, but unfortunately, the most frequently co-cited author shows "ANONYMOUS." Highly cited journals typically exert a substantial influence. Additionally, further study is expected to concentrate on efficacy and validation. Since 2018, the growth in publications on DMS reflects increasing academic interest. Australia's institutions lead in collaboration, though international cooperation is limited. This study aimed to identify factors related to the intention to evacuate in a disaster following a Level 4 evacuation order among people with mental health illnesses living in group homes in Japan. The participants were people with mental health conditions living in group homes in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. We created an original self-administered questionnaire and conducted a survey among this group. Of the 625 people with mental health conditions using group homes, 152 (24.3%) responded. Of these, 110 (5.9%) who provided valid data were included in the analysis. A total of 85 (77.3%) people said that they intended to evacuate in the event of a Level 4 evacuation order. We controlled for gender, age group, type of disability, experience of participating in disaster training, fear of contracting COVID-19 during evacuation, and earthquake and flood disaster experience as confounders. After controlling for these variables, the factors associated with intention to evacuate under a Level 4 evacuation order included not having emergency food prepared (odds ratio [OR] 3.81, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.03-14.08); believing that group home users would help them during disasters (OR 3.08, 95% CI: 1.04-9.12); and planning to ask the local government for help (OR 2.84, 95% CI: 1.01-8.01). Group home managers should be aware that people who do not believe that other group home residents would help them, and those not wishing to seek help from local government, may decide not to evacuate. Introduction: During the treatment of alcohol use disorder, alcohol withdrawal syndrome (AWS) can occur. Benzodiazepines remain the "gold standard" for the pharmacological treatment of AWS. However, other drugs have been approved in some European Countries for the treatment of AWS: namely, clomethiazole in Spain and Germany and sodium oxybate in Italy and Austria. Acute alcohol-associated hepatitis (AAH) is a distinct clinical syndrome characterized by the recent onset of jaundice with or without other signs of liver decompensation in patients with ongoing alcohol consumption., Rationale: We report 4 paradigmatic clinical cases to analyze the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of the very short half-life (30-45 minutes) sodium oxybate (SO) in the management of AWS with moderate to severe AAH. Compared to SO, "as needed" short-acting benzodiazepines, currently prescribed to treat AWS in patients with AAH, have a much longer half-life (5-25 hours) which increases the risk of drug accumulation. The very short half-life of SO provides a fixed dose approach allowing for a more effective control of AWS than "as needed" therapy throughout the 24 hours., Patient Concerns: Patients reported anxiety, agitation, diffuse abdominal pain, loss of appetite, and nausea with elevation in serum bilirubin and 2 of them had abdomen distension due to ascites., Diagnosis: Patients were affected by moderate or severe AWS and moderate or severe AAH on alcohol-related liver cirrhosis., Interventions: In order to suppress AWS, all patients were treated with oral sodium oxybate at a dose of 25 mg/kg/day, progressively increased to 50 to 100 mg/kg/day, divided into 3 to 5 administrations., Outcomes: SO was efficient, safe and tolerable in suppressing AWS even in patients with severe AAH. All treated patients showed a rapid improvement of all symptom (via the Clinical Institute of Withdrawal Assessment for Alcohol Scale) and liver test scores (Model for End-Stage Liver Disease)., Conclusion: Because of its short half-life, SO can be considered a safe and effective pharmacological option for the AWS in patients with moderate to severe AAH even in comparison to short-acting benzodiazepines, thus avoiding the risk of accumulation. Background: Non-coding RNA (ncRNA) is a type of RNA that does not code for proteins and plays a crucial role in the onset, progression, diagnosis, and therapy of acute pancreatitis. However, bibliometric, and visual analyses of studies on acute pancreatitis and ncRNA are lacking. This study seeks to provide a bibliometric overview of the knowledge structure and research hotspots of ncRNA in the field of acute pancreatitis research., Materials and Methods: Literature search and collection of information in the field of ncRNA-related research in acute pancreatitis from 2000-2023 through the Web of Science Core Collection. Use CiteSpace and VOSviewer to visually analyze countries, institutions, authors, and keywords., Results: A total of 563 articles have been published in the field of ncRNA-related research in acute pancreatitis, and the number of publications in this field is gradually increasing. The largest number of publications was from China. Four clusters were produced by the co-occurrence cluster analysis of the top 89 keywords: studies of ncRNA in inflammation, autophagy, and apoptosis in acute pancreatitis; studies related to microRNA expression in pancreatic cancer among ncRNA; studies related to microRNAs as diagnostic and therapeutic markers in acute pancreatitis; and studies related to ncRNA in acute pancreatitis; The key words "injury," "pathway" and "extracellular vesicles" are the key words of emerging research hotspots., Conclusion: In conclusion, ncRNA research in acute pancreatitis is an established discipline. Background: Schizophrenia affects more than 21 million people worldwide. There have been a number of articles published in the literature regarding schizophrenia. It is unclear which authors contributed the most to the field of schizophrenia. This study examines which article entities (affiliated countries, institutes, journals, and authors) earn the most research achievements (RAs) and whether keywords in articles are associated with the number of article citations., Methods: As of August 25, 2022, 20,606 abstracts published on schizophrenia in psychiatry since 2017 were retrieved from the WoS core collection (WoSCC). RAs were measured using the category, JIF, authorship, and L-index (CJAL) score. The follower-leading cluster algorithm (FLCA) was used to examine clusters of keywords associated with core concepts of research. There were 7 types of visualizations used to report the study results, including Sankey diagrams, choropleth maps, scatter charts, radar plots, and cluster plots. A hypothesis was examined that the mean number of citations for keywords could predict the number of citations for 100 top-cited articles(T100SCHZ)., Results: The results indicate that the US (18861), Kings College London (U.S. (2572), Psychiatry (14603), and Kolanu Nithin (Australia) (9.88) had the highest CJAL scores in countries, institutes, departments, and authors, respectively. The journal of Schizophrenia Res had higher citations (19,017), counts (1681), and mean citations (11.31) in journals. There was a significant correlation between article citations and weighted keywords (F = 1471.74; P < .001)., Conclusion: Seven visualizations were presented to report the study results, particularly with thematic maps using scatter and 4-quadrant plots produced in R programming language. In recent decades, artificial intelligence (AI) has played an increasingly important role in medicine, including dermatology. Worldwide, numerous studies have reported on AI applications in dermatology, rapidly increasing interest in this field. However, no bibliometric studies have been conducted to evaluate the past, present, or future of this topic. This study aimed to illustrate past and present research and outline future directions for global research on AI applications in dermatology using bibliometric analysis. We conducted an online search of the Web of Science Core Collection database to identify scientific papers on AI applications in dermatology. The bibliometric metadata of each selected paper were extracted, analyzed, and visualized using VOS viewer and Cite Space. A total of 406 papers, comprising 8 randomized controlled trials and 20 prospective studies, were deemed eligible for inclusion. The United States had the highest number of papers (n = 166). The University of California System (n = 24) and Allan C. Halpern (n = 11) were the institution and author with the highest number of papers, respectively. Based on keyword co-occurrence analysis, the studies were categorized into 9 distinct clusters, with clusters 2, 3, and 7 containing keywords with the latest average publication year. Background: Exercise reduces chronic complications in individuals with diabetes and peripheral vascular diseases. In clinical practice, the use of air insole may reduce peak plantar pressure (PPP), and risk for diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs). However, there is no guideline on selecting air insole pressure for effectively reducing PPP. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effects of different air insole pressure on PPP at different walking durations., Methods: We tested 13 participants using repeated measures study design, including 3 air insole pressures (80, 160, and 240 mm Hg) and 2 walking durations (10 and 20 minutes) for 6 walking conditions. PPP values at the first toe, first metatarsal head, and second metatarsal head were calculated., Results: The one-way ANOVA showed significant pairwise differences of PPP at 20 minutes duration in the first metatarsal head between 80 and 240 mm Hg (P = .007) and between 160 and 240 mm Hg (P = .038); in the second metatarsal head between 80 and 240 mm Hg (P = .043). The paired t test confirmed that walking duration significantly has lower PPP at 10 minutes than 20 minutes with 240 mm Hg air insole in the first metatarsal head (P = .012) and the second metatarsal head (P = .027)., Conclusion: People at risk of foot ulcers are suggested to wear shoes with 80 mm Hg of air insole for reducing PPP in the first metatarsal head and the second metatarsal head. Background: This study aimed to investigate the effect of the motor game "Treasure Game" (TG) on first-grade children's level of geometric thinking and post-learning mood tracking (PLMT)., Methods: The study employed 24 first-grade children aged 6.1 ± 0.7 years from a public primary school in Tunisia, all classified at Level 1 of van Hiele geometric thinking (GT). Participants were randomly in a counterbalanced, randomized crossover design in 2 groups and engaged in both the TG during physical education sessions and the conventional geometry course (CGC) during mathematics sessions over a 3-week period, with sessions counterbalanced to avoid order effects. The Van Hiele geometry test was administered to assess GT, and a mood chart was used to track PLMT. Data were analyzed using the SPSS software (Chicago), applying paired and independent samples t-tests to compare the effects of TG and CGC on GT and mood, with significance set at P < .05 and effect sizes calculated using Cohen D and Hedges g., Results: The results indicated that the TG had a significant positive impact on both GT and PLMT in first-grade children. In group 1, there was no significant difference in GT after the CGC compared to TG; however, group 2 showed a significant improvement in GT after TG compared to CGC, with a large effect size. Additionally, PLMT scores were significantly higher after TG than after CGC in both groups, with mood scores increasing when transitioning from CGC to TG and decreasing when transitioning from TG to CGC. Overall, the data demonstrate that TG significantly enhances both cognitive and emotional outcomes in young learners compared to traditional geometry instruction., Conclusion: The study confirms that participation in the TG significantly enhances GT and improves post-learning mood in first-grade children. This suggests that integrating motor activities like TG into the curriculum could be a viable strategy for enhancing early geometric education. Background: Vitamins are essential nutrients that play an indispensable role in maintaining the vital functions of the human body. A growing number of studies have shown a link between vitamins and cancer. However, there is no systematic review and bibliometric analysis in this field. This study aims to summarize the hotspots and emerging research topics in this field of vitamins and cancer research., Methods: Articles on the topic of vitamins and cancer published between 2003 and 2022 were retrieved from the Web of Science core collection database (WOSCC) on May 1, 2023. Subsequently, we conducted VOSviewer and CiteSpace to examine the annual output distribution, countries/regions, institutions, journals, authors, co-cited references, and keywords., Results: A total of 3166 publications were extracted using a timespan of 2003 to 2022. The number of publications has grown rapidly over the past 20 years. Most publications were from the United States; Harvard University was the most active institutions; Giovannucci stood out among authors with the highest number of publications, citations and H-index; Cancer Epidem Biomar published the most papers in this field; the highest cited reference was published in Nat Rev Cancer, authored by Feldman in 2014. Breast cancer was the most common type of cancer, while vitamin D was a research hotspot in this field. Oxidative stress may be the primary anticancer mechanism of vitamins, while also involving epithelial-mesenchymal transition, apoptosis, polymorphism, and calcium metabolism. Background: Caregiver burden significantly affects both patients and caregivers but is often overlooked in clinical practice. Physical and emotional strain on caregivers can compromise the quality of care. Care robots are emerging as solutions to alleviate these burdens by assisting with routine tasks, thereby reducing caregivers' physical strain and stress. Therefore, a prospective, non-randomized, interventional clinical trial was designed to identify changes in caregivers' physical activities due to care robot use and explore the associated benefits., Methods: Twenty-two caregivers (1 male and 21 female; mean age, 62.05 years) were participated. We analyzed the impact of care robots on reducing physical burden and assessed caregivers' satisfaction with these robots by examining care activity history, pain levels, muscle activities, and data for each physical care activity (e.g., transfer, reposition, feeding, and toileting), categorizing them based on whether a care robot was used. Care robots that assist in transfer, repositioning, feeding, and toileting activities were used in a clinical trial. Muscle activity was measured during maximum voluntary isometric contraction using electromyography sensors placed on the upper trapezius, biceps brachii, and erector spinae muscles., Results: During care robot use, we observed a statistically significant decrease in the distance and number of steps required for assisting with repositioning. However, the caregiving activity time increased when the robots assisted with transfer, feeding, and toileting (P < .001). Pain was significantly reduced during transfer and toileting activities using the care robot (P < .001) as well as during feeding activity (P = .040). Maximum voluntary isometric contraction showed a significant reduction in the upper trapezius, biceps brachii, and erector spinae muscles during the 4 care activities when using the robot, and these findings were consistent across the 3 sessions (P < .001). Rationale: Among 3 forms of mercury, elemental mercury vapor presents the highest threat due to its potential to cause acute pneumonitis. The management of acute mercury vapor poisoning remains unclear, particularly in acute lung injury. We present a case of mercury vapor poisoning resulting from the heating of cinnabar, successfully treated with high-dose corticosteroids and chelation therapy, and follow-up over 6 months., Patient Concerns: A 47-year-old female patient was admitted to the Emergency Department due to dyspnea, chest tightness, and weakness following cinnabar heating., Diagnoses: Upon admission, she presented with tachypnea and respiratory failure. During the first 5 days, the respiratory failure rapidly progressed, requiring high-flow nasal cannula support, and showed no improvement with broad-spectrum intravenous (IV) antibiotics and 80 mg daily IV methylprednisolone. Total blood and urinary mercury levels were measured to confirm the diagnosis., Interventions: Upon confirmation of acute pneumonitis due to mercury vapor poisoning, the patient was administered high-dose methylprednisolone (500 mg IV per day) and chelation therapy, which led to subsequent improvement., Outcomes: Six months after discharge, the patient completely recovered, as evidenced by chest imaging and pulmonary function tests., Lessons: Heating elemental mercury can cause pneumonitis, leading to acute respiratory failure. Upper gastrointestinal angiodysplasia (UGIA) is a unique mucosal vascular lesion that causes acute or recurrent gastrointestinal bleeding. Despite the increasing incidence of UGIA, the risk factors for bleeding in this condition remain unclear. We investigated the predictors of active and recurrent bleeding among patients with UGIA. We conducted a retrospective cohort study of 104,086 patients who underwent esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) at the Tri-Service General Hospital in Taiwan between October 2011 and September 2021. UGIA was diagnosed in 112 patients, and the data from these patients were comprehensively analyzed. EGD documented UGIA in 112 patients, which corresponded with an overall diagnostic yield of 1.1%. Active bleeding was documented in 28 (25%) patients. Patients in the active bleeding group were older than the patients in the asymptomatic group (71.6 ± 11.7-years vs 61.3 ± 18.5-years). Most of the UGIA lesions were singular and measured 2 to 5 mm. Nearly 1-quarter of the patients (24.1%) underwent endoscopic hemostasis, and rebleeding occurred in 6 (21.4%) patients during the follow-up period. Multivariate analysis identified diabetes mellitus (DM), chronic kidney disease (CKD), and lesions in the duodenum as significant risk factors for active bleeding (P = .019; P = .006; P = .004). Our cohort study provided real-world data on the clinical and endoscopic features of UGIA. Background: Network meta-analyses (NMAs) are statistical techniques used to synthesize data from multiple studies and compare the effectiveness of different interventions for a particular disease or condition. They have gained popularity in recent years as a tool for evidence-based decision making in healthcare. Whether publications in NMAs have an increasing trend is still unclear. This study aimed to investigate the trends in the number of NMA articles over the past 10 years when compared to non-NMA articles., Methods: The study utilized data from the Web of Science database, specifically searching for articles containing the term "meta-analysis" published between 2013 and 2022. The analysis examined the annual number of articles, as well as the countries, institutions, departments, and authors associated with the articles and the journals in which they were published. Ten different visualization techniques, including line charts, choropleth maps, chord diagrams, circle packing charts, forest plots, temporal heatmaps, impact beam plots, pyramid plots, 4-quadrant radar plots, and scatter plots, were employed to support the hypothesis that the number of NMA-related articles has increased (or declined) over the past decade when compared to non-NMA articles., Results: Our findings indicate that there was no difference in mean citations or publication trends between NMA and non-NMA; the United States, McMaster University (Canada), medical schools, Dan Jackson from the United Kingdom, and the Journal of Medicine (Baltimore) were among the leading entities; NMA ranked highest on the coword analysis, followed by heterogeneity, quality, and protocol, with weighted centrality degrees of 32.51, 30.84, 29.43, and 24.26, respectively; and the number of NMA-related articles had increased prior to 2020 but experienced a decline in the past 3 years, potentially due to being overshadowed by the intense academic focus on COVID-19., Conclusion: It is evident that the number of NMA articles increased rapidly between 2013 and 2019 before leveling off in the years following. This literature on financial toxicity (FT) of breast cancer aimed to identify the leading countries, institutions, key researchers, influential references, top journals, research hotspots, and frontiers in the field. Published articles on FT in breast cancer patients were systematically retrieved and screened from the Web of Science databases from inception to March 28, 2022. The CiteSpace software was used to generate knowledge maps to analyze bibliometric characteristics in FT research on breast cancer patients. A total of 615 publications were included, with a year-on-year increase in the number of publications. A total of 591 authors conducted research on the FT in breast cancer patients, with Yabroff KR being the most prolific author. The US was the absolute leader in this field, with almost all major research institutions and authors located in the US. Supportive Care in Cancer was the most productive journal, and the Journal of Clinical Oncology was the most co-cited journal. The keywords representing the research hotspots were "quality of life," "care," "cost," etc. Keywords burst detection indicated that "financial toxicity," "survivors," "impact," "burden," "income," and "experience" have become the new research frontiers in the last 5 years. There is an overall upward trend in the research on FT of breast cancer over the last 30 years, which has important and ongoing research value. Background: Studies of most-cited articles have been frequently conducted on various topics and in various medical fields. To date, no study has examined the characteristics of articles associated with theme classifications and research achievements of article entities related to nursing resilience. This study aims to graphically depict the characteristics of the 100 top-cited articles addressing nurse resilience (T100NurseR), diagram the relationship between articles and author collaborations according to themes extracted from article keywords, and examine whether article keywords are correlated with article citations., Methods: T100NurseR publications were retrieved from the Web of Science (WoS) core collection on October 13, 2022. Themes associated with articles were explored using coword analysis in WoS keywords plus. The document category, journal ranking based on impact factor, authorship, and L-index and Y-index were used to analyze the dominant entities. To report the themes of T100NurseR and their research achievements in comparison to article entities and verify the hypothesis that keyword mean citation can be used to predict article citations, 5 visualizations were applied, including network diagrams, chord diagrams, dot plots, Kano diagrams, and radar plots., Results: Citations per article averaged 61.96 (range, 25-514). There were 5 themes identified in T100NurseR, including Parses theory, nurse resilience, conflict management, nursing identity, and emotional intelligence. For countries, institutes, departments, and authors in comparison of category, journal impact factor, authorship, and L-index scores, Australia (129.80), the University of Western Sydney (23.12), Nursing (87.17), and Kim Foster (23.76) are the dominant entities. The weighted number of citations according to Keywords Plus in WoS is significantly correlated with article citations (Pearson R = 0.94; P = .001)., Conclusion: We present diagrams to guide evidence-based clinical decision-making in nurse resilience based on the characteristics of the T100NurseR articles. Article citations can be predicted using weighted keywords. Background: To analyze the top 100 most-cited articles on renal cell carcinoma (RCC) using bibliometric methods based on the Web of Science core collection database and to explore the research status, hotspots, and emerging trends in RCC., Methods: The literature on RCC was searched in the Web of Science core collection database using a specific search strategy, and the types of literature were limited to articles and reviews, with no restrictions to language and publication date. The top 100 articles with the highest number of citations were extracted after the manual screening. The publication year, the number of citations, authors, country, institution, journal, and keywords of these articles were collected and analyzed. Descriptive statistics and visual analysis were performed using Microsoft Excel, VOSviewer, CiteSpace, R, and SPSS., Results: The number of citations of the top 100 articles varied from 541 to 4530, with a median citation count of 807.5, and the citation rates ranged from 13.8 to 448.4 citations per year. Motzer RJ (n = 22), Escudier B (n = 13), Rini BI (n = 13), and Hutson TE (n = 11) were major contributors to this research area, with Motzer RJ publishing 16 articles as the first author. The US (n = 73), France (n = 5), Canada (n = 4), and Sweden (n = 4) were the leading countries for RCC studies. MEMORIAL SLOAN KETTERING CANCER CENTER (n = 22) was the institution with the highest number of publications. These 100 articles were derived from 24 journals, and the New England Journal of Medicine had the largest number of articles published (n = 18, impact factor = 91.245). Background: Nasopharyngeal carcinomas (NPCs) are prevalent in southeast Asia. There is a need to systematically review the current trend and status of NPC research. However, most bibliometric analyses have tended to focus on descriptive and diagnostic analytics rather than predictive and prescriptive analyses. Thus, it is necessary to use the model of the 4 (called the descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics [DDPP]) to derive insights from the data. This study aimed to apply the DDPP model to classify article themes and illustrate the characteristics of NPCs; compare NPC researcher achievements across countries, institutes, departments, and authors; determine whether the mean citations of keywords can be used to predict article citations; and highlight articles that are worthy of reading., Methods: The Web of Science Core Collection was searched for 100 top-cited articles and reviews related to NPCs published between 2013 and 2022. As part of Microsoft Office Excel 2019, Visual Basic for Applications was used to illustrate the number of publications and scientific productivity of authors over time and to generate network/temporal heatmaps, chord/Sankey diagrams, radar/impact beam plots, and scatter/pyramid charts about collaborations among countries. The DDPP model identifies institutions, authors, and hotspots of NPC research. The category, journal, authorship, and L-index (CJAL) score was applied to evaluate individual research achievements., Results: A total of 10,564 publications were extracted from Web of Science Core Collection and screened for 100 top-cited articles and reviews related to NPCs. Despite having the highest number of publications (36%), China lags slightly behind the US in CJAL scores. CJAL was higher at Sun Yat-Sen University, Radiat Oncol department, and author Jun Ma from China. The number of article citations was significantly correlated with the number of weighted keywords (F = 1791.17; P < .0001). Six articles with significantly increasing citations over the last 4 years were recommended., Conclusion: This bibliometric study utilizes the DDPP model to analyze the scientific progress of NPC over the past decade. The whole genome is a hot topic that may prove to be a promising research area in the future. Background: Melanoma is a life-threatening form of skin cancer. Due to its remarkable effectiveness, the immune checkpoint blockade is widely used to treat melanoma (ICBM). No research has been conducted on ICBM for identifying the most readable articles. A bibliometric analysis of 100 top-cited ICBM (T100ICBM) in recent decades is required to highlight articles worth reading., Methods: Based on the Web of Science Core Collection, we summarized the articles on ICBM published in each year from 2000 to 2022, with first authors from Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan (CHT). Using the CJAL score, data extraction and visualization of the distribution of ICBM publications were conducted on 2718, and 100 top-cited articles, respectively. We used the temporal heatmap to identify the most readable articles. Four descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics (called DDPP model) were applied to describe the features of T100ICBM articles. The absolute advantage coefficient was used to determine the dominance extent of the most influential region, institute, department, and author., Results: A total of 2718 publications was included after removing first or corresponding authors who were not affiliated with CHT. Publications by year showed a sharp increase from 2014 onward and either peaked in 2022 or have not yet peaked. It was evident that there was a large difference between the number of publications in provinces/metropolitan cities/regions on CHT. Beijing, Sichuan University, Oncology, and Guo Jun from Beijing are the most prolific and influential region, institute, department, and author. When comparing research achievements to the next productive authors based on the CJAL score, only Dr Jun has a medium effect of dominance (=0.60). On the basis of their consecutive growth in citations over the past 4 years, 20 T100ICBM articles were recommended for readers., Conclusion: The field of ICBM is growing rapidly, and Beijing and Sichuan University are taking the lead in CHT. Furthermore, the study provides references for worth-reading articles using the temporal heatmap. Sepsis is an infection-induced systemic inflammatory response syndrome. Immune regulation plays a crucial role in sepsis. We looked into the link between immune effector-related proteins and sepsis in this study by using both univariate and multivariate Mendelian randomization (MR) analyses. We accessed and collected data from the Integrative Epidemiology Unit's Open About Sepsis genome-wide association study database. The 6 immune effector-associated proteins each contained 10,534,735 single-nucleotide polymorphisms from 3301 samples. Using the weighted median, MR-Egger, simplex, inverse-variance weighting, and weighted mode methods, univariate MR then investigated the link between complement factor H-related protein-5 (CFHR5), Fc epsilon receptor II (FCER2), granzyme B (GZMB), major histocompatibility complex, class II, DQ alpha (HLA-DQA2), mannose-binding lectin 2 (MBL2), or myeloperoxidase (MPO) and sepsis. In the inverse-variance weighted results, the P values of all 6 immune effector-related proteins were <0.05, suggesting a possible causal relationship between them and sepsis. MBL2 (odds ratio [OR] = 1.046) was a risk factor for sepsis, while the other proteins (FCER2: OR = 0.922; GZMB: OR = 0.908; CFHR5: OR = 0.858; HLA-DQA2: OR = 0.896; MPO: OR = 0.875) were safety factors. The landscape of research roles within academic journals often remains uncharted territory, with authorial contributions frequently reduced to linear hierarchies (e.g., professor and assistant professor). The Kano model, traditionally used in customer satisfaction research, offers a nuanced framework for identifying the multifaceted roles of authors in scholarly publications. This study utilizes the Kano model to dissect and categorize the roles of authors in the medicine field. To conform to the hypothesis, China is the research leader while the US is the research collaborator, as reflected in the publications of the journal of Medicine (Baltimore) in the year 2023. We conducted a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of all research articles published in the journal of Medicine (Baltimore) in 2023. The Kano model was applied to classify authors into 5 categories reflective of their research roles: followers, leaders, partners, contributors, and collaborators. Data on author publications and co-authorship networks with multi-author rates (MARs) were analyzed to assign Kano categories based on the authorship positions of first and corresponding authors. Descriptive statistics and network analysis tools were used to interpret the data, including radar plots, geographical maps, and Kano diagrams. The analysis covered 1976 articles, uncovering a complex network of author roles that extends beyond the conventional binary distinction of lead and supporting authors (i.e., leading, and following researchers). A research leader in China and a collaborator in the US were conformed to support the hypothesis, based on their publications (1148 vs 51) and MARs (12.20% vs 19.61%). The Kano classification was visually adapted to classify authors (or entities) into 5 categories. The combined choropleth and geographical network maps were illustrated to identify author roles in research briefly. The Kano model serves as an effective tool for uncovering the diverse contributions of authors in medical research. By moving beyond the lead and follower dichotomy, this study highlights the intricate ecosystem of authorial roles, emphasizing the importance of each in advancing knowledge within the field of medicine. Leprosy is an infectious disease that remains a public health concern. It is caused by acid-fast Bacillus leprae, which primarily affects the skin and peripheral nerves, potentially leading to long-term disability and stigma. However, current and previous efforts have focused on developing better diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for leprosy, and its prevention needs to be addressed. In this review, we organize the currently published papers and provide updates on the global epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of leprosy. Several online databases, including MEDLINE (National Library of Medicine, Bethesda, MD), PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Google Scholar, were searched to collect relevant published papers. As a public health issue, the World Health Organization set the goal of leprosy elimination with a prevalence of <1 case per 10,000 people, which was achieved in 2000 and in most countries by 2010, mainly owing to the treatment of leprosy using drugs starting in 1980 and no-cost access for patients since 1995. Although diagnostic and therapeutic techniques have improved, the new occurrence of leprosy remains a critical global disease burden. Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second leading cause of cancer-related death in Europe. This study aimed to investigate CRC mortality trends in Montenegro from 1990 to 2018 and critically review the impact of preventive activities on cancer suppression in this country. We used the national CRC mortality data categorized by sex and age. Mortality rates were age-standardized according to the World Standard Population. The trends were described using regression techniques. In the period from 1990 to 2018, there was a significant increase in CRC mortality (P < .05). The death rates and the number of deaths from CRC were constantly increasing for both the overall level and gender, with the mean annual percentage change for the rates respectively average annual percent change (95% confidence interval-CI): 2.6% (1.9-3.2), 2.6% (1.8-3.5); 2.3% (1.3-3.3), and for the number of cases, respectively: 4.2% (3.5-4.9), 4.3% (3.3-5.3), 4.3% (3.2-5.5). The most affected age groups were 65 to 74 years (33%), followed by those aged 75 to 84 years (25%) and the age group 55 to 64 (22%). In Montenegro, CRC mortality trends are increasing among both men and women over the age of 45. Foreign body aspiration (FBA) is a serious preventable pediatric health problem and one of the main causes of accidental death in children. Although unusual in adults, it is often overlooked as a cause of airway obstruction with serious consequences. This study assessed awareness and previous FBA experiences in the Asir community, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Using validated questionnaire, an annonymous online survey was conducted among 870 people aged 18 years and above. The questionnaire was used to collect data about the personal and sociodemographic characteristics of the respondents, as well as their experiences with FBA, and participants' knowledge and perceived seriousness of FBA. The level of knowledge was deemed good if the score ranged between 60% and 100%, and bad if the score fell below 60%The level of knowledge was deemed good if the score ranged between 60% and 100%, and bad if the score fell below 60%. The majority of the participants (79.7%) were females, 48.1% were aged 18 to 30 years, 72.9% had university degree, 30.6% were students, 26.9% worked in the educational sector, 43.6% reported monthly income of <5000 Saudi Riyals and 19.8% of them identified themselves as healthcarepractitioners. Although the community experience with FBA was considerably high (70.6%) among the study participants, their awareness levels about FBA were deficient. Only 24.7% of the respondents had good knowledge of FBA. Older age, being a health practitioner, and perceiving FBA as a serious incident were significantly associated with good knowledge (P < .001). The findings of this study indicate an urgent need to raise community awareness of FBA. Rationale: Neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) originating from neuroendocrine cells occur in the thyroid, respiratory, and digestive systems, with Gallbladder Neuroendocrine Carcinoma (GB-NEC) accounting for only 0.5% of all NENs and 2.1% of gallbladder cancers. Due to its rarity, little is known about GB-NEC's clinical presentation and treatment., Patient Concerns: We report a case of a 52-year-old male presenting with acute upper right abdominal pain, leading to further investigation., Diagnoses: Initial diagnostic workup, including abdominal ultrasound and contrast-enhanced CT, suggested gallbladder malignancy. Post-surgical pathology confirmed GB-NEC, with immunohistochemistry supporting the diagnosis., Interventions: The patient underwent radical cholecystectomy, followed by etoposide plus cisplatin chemotherapy. After disease progression indicated by CT, the patient received additional cycles of chemotherapy with cisplatin and irinotecan, plus targeted therapy with anlotinib and immunotherapy with paimiplimab., Outcomes: The patient showed a partial response to initial treatment. Subsequent liver biopsy confirmed NEC, consistent with small cell carcinoma. With continued treatment, the patient maintains a good survival status., Lessons: GB-NEC is associated with poor prognosis, emphasizing the importance of early detection and multimodal treatment strategies. Background: This study aims to comprehensively examine the academic development of shoulder dystocia (SD) through bibliometric and document analysis and to identify topics that can guide future research., Methods: In this study, performance, co-citation, co-word, and document analyses were used as bibliometric analysis techniques., Results: The study identified 3 main themes in terms of the intellectual structure of Shoulder Dystocia (SD): "Management of SD, Risk Factors and Associated Complications," "Clinical Practices, Birth Abnormalities and Effects of Complications," and "Impact of Education, Clinical Maneuvers and Fetal Health Outcomes." Co-occurrence analysis identified 4 significant themes: "Management and Clinical Practice of SD," "Fetal Macrosomia and Risk Factors," "Obstetric Maneuvers and Brachial Plexus Injury," and "Clinical Trends and Risks in SD." Additionally, ten consolidated themes were identified as a result of thematic coding analysis., Conclusion: Shoulder dystocia remains a critical component of obstetric practice. Themes such as training and simulation, risk factors, and technical and management approaches are consistently emphasized. To evaluate the efficacy and safety of indocyanine green (ICG)-guided near-infrared fluorescence (NIRF) imaging during surgery to diagnose the cause of neonatal cholestasis (NC). Data on NC patients who underwent both NIRF with ICG and conventional laparoscopic bile duct exploration (the gold standard) at our institute from January 2022 to December 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. The patients' baseline characteristics and liver function outcomes were collected and analyzed, and the diagnostic consistency was compared between the 2 methods. In total, 16 NC patients were included in the study, comprising 8 (50%) male and 8 (50%) female patients, ranging in age from 42 to 93 days, with a median age of 54.4 ± 21 days. During surgery, all the patients underwent NIRF with ICG, followed by conventional laparoscopic bile duct exploration. Finally, 15 of the patients were diagnosed with biliary atresia (BA) (1 with type-I BA, and 14 with type-II BA). The other patient was diagnosed with cholestasis. The diagnostic results from fluorescence imaging with ICG were consistent with those from conventional laparoscopic bile duct exploration. ICG-guided NIRF is associated with an easy operation, less trauma, and good safety. The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has not only challenged global health systems but also spurred intense scientific inquiry into its pathophysiology. Among the multifaceted aspects of the disease, coagulation abnormalities have emerged as a significant contributor to morbidity and mortality. From endothelial dysfunction to dysregulated immune responses, various factors contribute to the hypercoagulable state seen in severe COVID-19 cases. The dysregulation of coagulation in COVID-19 extends beyond traditional thromboembolic events, encompassing a spectrum of abnormalities ranging from microvascular thrombosis to disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). Endothelial injury induced by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection triggers a cascade of events involving platelet activation, coagulation factor consumption, and fibrinolysis impairment. Moreover, the virus direct effects on immune cells and the cytokine storm further exacerbate the prothrombotic milieu. Unraveling this intricate web of interactions between viral pathogenesis and host responses is essential for elucidating novel therapeutic targets and refining existing management strategies for COVID-19-associated coagulopathy. The concept of impact beam plots (IBPs) has been introduced in academia as a means to profile individual researchers. Despite its potential, there has been a lack of comprehensive analysis that evaluates the research profiles of highly published authors through the lens of collaborative maps. This study introduces a novel approach, the rating scale for research profiles (RSRP), to create collaborative maps for prolific authors. The initial hypothesis posited that each of the research profiles would attain a grade A, necessitating empirical verification. This research employed collaborative maps to analyze the publication patterns of authors using the Web of Science database, focusing on co-authorship patterns and the impact of their scholarly work. The study relied on various bibliometric indicators, such as publication count, citation metrics, h-index, and co-authorship networks, to provide a detailed assessment of the contributions made by each author in their field. Additionally, authors' IBPs were generated and assessed alongside collaborative maps, using a grading scale ranging from A (excellent) to F (lacking any articles as first or corresponding author). The analysis confirmed that all 4 research profiles achieved a grade A, with their centroids located in the third quadrant, indicating a high level of scholarly impact. The h-indexes for the authors were found to be 38, 51, 53, and 59, respectively. Notably, Dr Tseng from Taiwan showed a distinct pattern, with a significant number of solo-authored publications in the second quadrant, in contrast to the other 3 authors who demonstrated a greater emphasis on collaboration, as evidenced by their positioning in the first quadrant. The study successfully demonstrates that RSRP and IBPs can be effectively used to analyze and profile the research output of highly published authors through collaborative maps. The research confirms the initial hypothesis that all 4 profiles would achieve a grade A, indicating an excellent level of scholarly impact and a strong presence in their respective fields. Background: We selected authors from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan (CHT) to examine citation trends on articles and keywords. The existence of suitable temporal bar graphs (TBGs) for displaying citation trends is unknown. It is necessary to enhance the traditional TBGs to provide readers with more information about the citation trend. The purpose of this study was to propose an advanced TBG that can be applied to understand the most worth-reading articles by ophthalmology authors in the CHT., Methods: Using the search engine of the Web of Science core collection, we conducted bibliometric analyses to examine the article citation trends of ophthalmology authors in CHT since 2013. A total of 6695 metadata was collected from articles and review articles. Using radar plots, the Y-index, and the combining the Y-index with the CJAL scores (CJAL) scores, we could determine the dominance of publications by year, region, institute, journal, department, and author. A choropleth map, a dot plot, and a 4-quadrant radar plot were used to visualize the results. A TBG was designed and provided for readers to display citation trends on articles and keywords., Results: We found that the majority of publications were published in 2017 (2275), Shanghai city (935), Sun Yat-Sen University (China) (689), the international journal Ophthalmology (1399), the Department of Ophthalmology (3035), and the author Peizeng Yang (Chongqing) (65); the highest CAJL scores were also from Guangdong (2767.22), Sun Yat-Sen University (China) (2147.35), and the Ophthalmology Department (7130.96); the author Peizeng Yang (Chongqing) (170.16) had the highest CAJL; and the enhanced TBG features maximum counts and recent growth trends that are not included in traditional TBGs., Conclusion: Using the Y-index and the CJAL score compared with research achievements of ophthalmology authors in CHT, a 4-quadrant radar plot was provided. Background: More than 400 articles with the title of 100 top-cited articles (Top100) have been published in PubMed. It is unknown whether their citations are fewer (or more) than those found in other bibliometric studies (Nontop100). After determining article themes using coword analysis, a temporal bubble graph (TBG) was used to verify the hypothesis that the Top100 had fewer citations than the Nontop100., Methods: Using the Web of Science core collection, the top 50 most cited articles were compiled by Top100 and Nontop100, respectively, based on the research area of biomedicine and bibliometrics only. Coword analysis was used to extract themes. The study results were displayed using 6 different visualizations, including charts with bars, pyramids, forests, clusters, chords, and bubbles. Mean citations were compared between Top100 and Nontop100 using the bootstrapping method., Results: There were 18 citations in total for the 2 sets of the 50 most cited articles (range 1-134; 5 and 26.5 for Top100 and Nontop100, respectively). A significant difference in mean citations was observed between the 2 groups of Top100 and Nontop100 based on the bootstrapping method (3, 95% confidence interval: [1.18, 4.82]; 26.5, 95% confidence interval: [23.82, 29.18], P < .001). The 11 themes were clustered using coword analysis and applied to a TBG, which is composed of 4 dimensions: themes, years, citations and groups of articles. Among the 2 groups, the majority of articles were published in the journal of Medicine (Baltimore), with 9 and 7, respectively., Conclusion: Eleven themes were identified as a result of this study. In addition, it reveals distinct differences between the 2 groups of Top100 and Nontop100, with the former containing more recently published articles and the latter containing more citations for articles. Background: A consensus exists that the first author and corresponding author make the most contribution to the publication of an article. The Y-index has been proposed to assess the scientific achievements of authors, institutions, and countries/regions (AIC/R for short) based on the number of first-author publications (FPs) and corresponding-author publications (RPs). Nonetheless, the Y-index is defined in terms of count and radian (represented by j and h) instead of using the relative radius and angle degree to simplify understanding. In the literature, a method for drawing radar diagrams online with the Y-index is also lacking. This study was conducted to enhance the Y-index with an additional relative radius denoted by k and the angle degree represented by h* (named Yk-index), include easy-to-use features (e.g., copying and pasting) for the delivery of the online Radar-Yk, and identify which one of AIC/R contributed the most to a scientific journal., Methods: From the Web of Science (WoS) database, we downloaded 9498 abstracts of articles published in the journal of Medicine (Baltimore) in 2020 and 2021. Three visual representations were used, including a Sankey diagram, a choropleth map, and a radar diagram, to identify the characteristics of contributions by AIC/R to Medicine (Baltimore) using the Yk-index (j, k, h*). A demonstration of Rada-Yk with easy-to-use features was given using the copy-and-paste technique., Results: We found that Qiu Chen (China), Sichuan University (China), China, and South Korea (based on regions, e.g., provinces/metropolitan areas in China) were the most productive AIC/R, with their Yk equal to 27,715, 12415.1, and 2045, respectively; a total of 85.6% of the published articles in Medicine (Baltimore) came from the 3 countries (China, South Korea, and Japan); and this method of drawing the Radar-Yk online was provided and successfully demonstrated., Conclusion: A breakthrough was achieved by developing the online Radar-Yk to show the most contributions to Medicine (Baltimore). Background: A common concern in the literature is the comparison of the similarities and differences between research journals, as well as the types of research they publish. At present, there are no clear methodologies that can be applied to a given article of interest. When authors use an effective and efficient method to locate journals in similar fields, they benefit greatly. By using the forest plot and major medical subject headings (MeSH terms) of Spine (Phila Pa 1976) compared to Spine J, this study: displays relatively similar journals to the target journal online and identifies the effect of the similarity odds ratio of Spine (Phila Pa 1976) compared to Spine J., Methods: From the PubMed library, we downloaded 1000 of the most recent top 20 most similar articles related to Spine (Phila Pa 1976) and then plotted the clusters of related journals using social network analysis (SNA). The forest plot was used to compare the differences in MeSH terms for 2 journals (Spine (Phila Pa 1976) and Spine J) based on odds ratios. The heterogeneity of the data was evaluated using the Q statistic and the I-square (I2) index., Results: This study shows that: the journals related to Spine (Phila Pa 1976) can easily be presented on a dashboard via Google Maps; 8 journal clusters were identified using SNA; the 3 most frequently searched MeSH terms are surgery, diagnostic imaging, and methods; and the odds ratios of MeSH terms only show significant differences with the keyword "surgery" between Spine (Phila Pa 1976) and Spine J with homogeneity at I2 = 17.7% (P = .27)., Conclusions: The SNA and forest plot provide a detailed overview of the inter-journal relationships and the target journal using MeSH terms. Background: An individual's research domain (RD) can be determined from objective publication data (e.g., medical subject headings and Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) terms) by performing social network analysis. Bibliographic coupling (such as cocitation) is a similarity metric that relies on citation analysis to determine the similarity in RD between 2 articles. This study compared RD consistency between articles as well as their cited references and citing articles (ARCs)., Methods: A total of 1388 abstracts were downloaded from PubMed and authored by 3 productive authors. Based on the top 3 clusters in social network analysis, similarity in RD was observed by comparing their consistency using the major MeSH terms in author articles, cited references and citing articles (ARC). Impact beam plots with La indices were drawn and compared for each of the 3 authors., Results: Sung-Ho Jang (South Korea), Chia-Hung Kao (Taiwan), and Chin-Hsiao Tseng (Taiwan) published 445, 780, and 163 articles, respectively. Dr Jang's RD is physiology, and Dr Kao and Dr Tseng's RDs are epidemiology. We confirmed the consistency of the RD terms by comparing the major MeSH terms in the ARC. Their La indexes were 5, 5, and 6, where a higher value indicates more extraordinary research achievement., Conclusion: RD consistency was confirmed by comparing the main MeSH terms in ARC. Background: Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic, inflammatory and debilitating dermatosis characterized by painful nodules, sinus tracts and abscesses in apocrine gland-bearing areas that predominantly affect women worldwide. New therapeutic interventions based on the clinical manifestations of patients have recently been introduced in numerous articles. However, which countries, journals, subject categories, and articles have the ultimate influence remain unknown. This study aimed to display influential entities in 100 top-cited HS-related articles (T100HS) and investigate whether medical subject headings (i.e., MeSH terms) can be used to predict article citations., Methods: T100HS data were extracted from PubMed since 2013. Subject categories were classified by MeSH terms using social network analysis. Sankey diagrams were applied to highlight the top 10 influential entities in T100HS from the three aspects of publication, citations, and the composited score using the hT index. The difference in article citations across subject categories and the predictive power of MeSH terms on article citations in T100HS were examined using one-way analysis of variance and regression analysis., Results: The top three countries (the US, Italy, and Spain) accounts for 54% of the T100HS. The T100HS impact factor (IF) is 12.49 (IF = citations/100). Most articles were published in J Am Acad Dermatol (15%; IF = 18.07). Eight subject categories were used. The "methods" was the most frequent MeSH term, followed by "surgery" and "therapeutic use". Saunte et al, from Roskilde Hospital, Denmark, had 149 citations in PubMed for the most cited articles. Sankey diagrams were used to depict the network characteristics of the T100HS. Article citations did not differ by subject category (F(7, 92) = 1.97, P = .067). MeSH terms were evident in the number of article citations predicted (F(1, 98) = 129.1106; P < .001)., Conclusion: We achieved a breakthrough by displaying the characteristics of the T100HS network on the Sankey diagrams. MeSH terms may be used to classify articles into subject categories and predict T100HS citations. Anthracyclines have been one of the most important therapeutic methods in breast cancer therapy for decades. However, serious long-term toxicities, especially cardiotoxicity limits the continuous usage of anthracyclines, hence affects long term prognosis. Early detection of myocardial dysfunction during treatment is critical but challenging. Two-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography (2D-STE) is a non-Doppler technique that can assess deformation and strain by tracking displacement of acoustic markers in the myocardium. This study aims to compare the sensitivity and precision between 2D-STE and traditional echocardiography on monitoring the left ventricular function in patients with breast cancer after anthracyclines therapy, which is the key indicator for evaluating myocardial changes. Thirty-three patients with breast cancer were recruited from February 2019 to December 2019. All patients were treated with 4 cycles anthracycline. 2D-STE and conventional echocardiography were performed on each patient. Two-dimensional echocardiographic examination was used to collect data interventricular septum diameter (IVSD), end-diastolic left ventricular posterior wall diameter (LVPWD), left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVEDD) and left ventricular systole on the parasternal left ventricular long axis view. The final diameter (left ventricular end-systolic diameter [LVESD]) and the left ventricular short axis shortening rate (LVFS) was measured by M-type. The two-plane Simpson's method was used to measure left ventricular end-diastolic volume (LVEDV) and end-systolic volume (left ventricular end-systolic volume [LVESV]) to obtain left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). Two-dimensional speckle tracking imaging technical indicator includes left ventricular global longitudinal strain (LVGLS), subendocardial myocardial longitudinal strain (LVGLS-Endo) and epicardial myocardial longitudinal strain (LVGLS-Epi). The correlation between 2-dimensional speckle tracking imaging and conventional ultrasound parameters were analyzed. Compared with baseline (T0), the systolic function parameter LVEF was significantly changed after four cycle chemotherapy (T4) (P < .05). However, the conventional echocardiographic parameters including IVSD, LVPWD, LVEDD, LVESD, LVEDV, and LVESV were not statistically significant (P > .05). There is limited data on the prevalence of seizures and dementia among older persons in Uganda. We evaluated cognitive functioning, and the prevalence and factors associated with seizures among older persons attending an outpatient medical clinic in Uganda. We randomly selected older adults (60 years and above) attending Kiruddu National Referral Hospital medical outpatient clinics between October 2020 and March 2021. We excluded individuals with a history of head injury, brain tumors, mental retardation, co-morbidity with HIV and patients who have had recent brain surgery. Cognitive functioning was assessed using the Identification for Dementia in Elderly Africans (IDEA) tool. We enrolled 407 participants, with a median (inter-quartile range) age of 67 (64-73) years. Majority were female (n = 292, 71.7%). The prevalence of seizure was 1.5% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.7-3.3). All 6 participants reported generalized tonic-clonic seizure type. Self-reported seizure was associated with being female (adjusted prevalence ratio [aPR]: 0.79, 95%CI: 0. 67-0.93, P = .02) and residing in Mukono district (aPR: 17.26, 95%CI: 1.64-181.55, P = .018). Overall, 114 (28.1%) participants had cognitive deficit; 9 (2.2%) dementia and 105 (25.9%) impaired cognition. Cognitive deficit was independently associated with female gender (aPR: 0.61, 95%CI: 0.44-0.85, P = .003), formal employment (aPR: 0.53, 95%CI: 0.35-0.81, P = .003), age 70-74 (aPR: 1.69, 95%CI: 1.00-2.86, P = .049), and ≥ 75 years (aPR: 2.81, 95%CI: 1.71-4.61, P = .001). Prevalence of seizures among participants with cognitive deficit was 5.3% (6/114). Background: A neuromuscular junction (NMJ) (or myoneural junction) is a chemical synapse between a motor neuron (MN) and a muscle fiber. Although numerous articles have been published, no such analyses on trend or prediction of citations in NMJ were characterized using the temporal bar graph (TBG). This study is to identify the most dominant entities in the 100 top-cited articles in NMJ (T100MNJ for short) since 2001; to verify the improved TBG that is viable for trend analysis; and to investigate whether medical subject headings (MeSH terms) can be used to predict article citations., Methods: We downloaded T100MNJ from the PubMed database by searching the string ("NMJ" [MeSH Major Topic] AND ("2001" [Date - Modification]: "2021" [Date - Modification])) and matching citations to each article. Cluster analysis of citations was performed to select the most cited entities (e.g., authors, research institutes, affiliated countries, journals, and MeSH terms) in T100MNJ using social network analysis. The trend analysis was displayed using TBG with two major features of burst spot and trend development. Next, we examined the MeSH prediction effect on article citations using its correlation coefficients (CC) when the mean citations in MeSH terms were collected in 100 top-cited articles related to NMJ (T100NMJs)., Results: The most dominant entities (i.e., country, journal, MesH term, and article in T100NMJ) in citations were the US (with impact factor [IF] = 142.2 = 10237/72), neuron (with IF = 151.3 = 3630/24), metabolism (with IF = 133.02), and article authored by Wagh et al from Germany in 2006 (with 342 citing articles). The improved TBG was demonstrated to highlight the citation evolution using burst spots, trend development, and line-chart plots. MeSH terms were evident in the prediction power on the number of article citations (CC = 0.40, t = 4.34)., Conclusion: Two major breakthroughs were made by developing the improved TBG applied to bibliographical studies and the prediction of article citations using the impact factor of MeSH terms in T100NMJ.
