Abstract

Magnetic properties of hexagonal YMn[O.sub.3] nanoparticles are examined, where the zero-field cooled and field-cooled magnetization have displayed divergences at low temperature and a spin-glass temperature. The studies have shown that the exchange-bias effect is attributed to an exchange coupling between an antiferromagnetic core and the spin-glassy shell or ferromagnetic surface spins of the nanoparticles, which has depended on the cooling field.
