A new study compares the fatigue properties of (Pb0.6Sr0.4)TiO3 thin films deposited with a buffer layer of (La0.5Sr0.5)MnO3 materials with those of films grown using (La0.5Sr0.5)CoO3 materials as a buffer layer.

Results demonstrate that the characteristics of the films change with the deposition parameters and films acquire a crystalline phase at a substrate temperature of 475-525 C. Data further show that optical properties do not vary but dielectric constant varies in thin films.

The magnetoelectric coupling effect in [Ni.sub.80][Fe.sub.20]/BaTi[O.sub.3] (NiFe/BTO) bilayer films is examined. The multiferroic properties have come from the pinning of magnetic moments, which is affected by the interface intrinsic dipoles and can be increased by adjusting the interface geometry.

The ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) behaviors of [Ni.sub.80][fe.sub.20] Permalloy films with a wide thickness range are examined. The magnon scattering through nonuniform magnetization are used to describe the thickness-dependent results.

The current-driven effect on the vortex domain wall in a series-connected permalloy S-shape patterns is investigated. It is demonstrated that at the fields slightly over the original switching field, the domain wall are initially trapped at constrictions, injecting current which will cause both the depinning and deformation of vortices.

The results of the current-assisted magnetization switching in submicron permalloy S-shape wires narrow junctions- notches are reported, and two distinct behaviors are observed in the current-assisted magnetization reversal process. Results reveal that the current driven effect is closely related to the initial domain states, and are explained by a theoretical model based on spin transfer effect.

Multiwall carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were grown by chemical vapor deposition, using microwave heated chemical vapor deposition. The laser irradiation-induced process is found to be more advantageous as it does not cause any physical damage to CNTs.

The relationship between the microwave dielectric properties and the IR active phonons of xBa(Mg1/3Ta2/3)O3- (1- x)Ba(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3 ceramics was investigated. Findings stated that the normal vibrations of the O layers and that of the Ta/Nb layers are strongly correlated to the measured dispersion parameters, such as the resonant strength (4 pi probability) and the damping coefficient (gamma).

A Raman study of 1:2 ordered xMBT-(1-x)BMN compound was made and Raman active phonons were completely assigned. Findings imply that oxygen octahedrons become rigid as Ta concentration increases.
