Abstract

A comparative analysis of the cytolytic activities (ca) and cellular contents of the intestinal intra-epithelial lymphocyte (i-IEL) populations in three types of conventional (CV) and germ free (GF) mice reveals ca to be characterized by a variability. This variability is a function of the mice strain. T cells expressing gamma-delta T-cell antigen receptors (TCRs) mediate the Ca of newly extracted i-IELs from GF mice. The inhibition of ca activity of alpha-beta i-IEL is due to the sterilization of gut lumen, while the original Ca of gamma-delta i-IELs is retained.

Abstract

The mechanism of MT depolymerization by KIF-Ms is explored by solving the crystal structure of the minimal functional domain of mouse KIF2C, a member of KIF-M, in two different nucleotide states. The mutational analysis to support the structural implications is presented and a structural model for the mechanism for MT depolymerization by KIF-M is proposed.
