The mesostructured titanosilicates designated as MTS-9 are successfully synthesized from assembly of performed nanosized titanosilicate precursors with polymer surfactants. It was found that the titanium species in MTS-9 are like TS-1 and the pore walls of MTS-9 contains primary and secondary building units.

The plasmid pCA2.4, isolated from synechocystis strain PCC 6803, contains an open reading frame (ORF) believed to encode the replication protein repA which expresses itself in Escherichia coli. The plasmid replicates by a rolling circle technique involving the production of a single-stranded plasmid as an intermediate. The amino acid sequence of the protein repA of pCA2.4 is homologous to replication protein of pKYM from Shigella sonnei, the pUB110 plasmid family of gram-positive bacteria. Many plasmids from gram-positive bacteria are confirmed to replicate by a rolling circle pathway.

Using cationic (1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidin-2-ylidene) hexadecylmethyl-ammonium bromide (DIHAB) as a template, an ordered hexagonal mesoporous silica material (JLU-30) is successfully synthesized in alkaline media at high-temperature (>160 C). The heteroatoms such as Al and Ti species are easily introduced into the mesoporous walls of JLU-30 by using a simple mixture of tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) with aluminum or titanium source in the initial reaction gel.
