Uniform donut-like assemblies of YBO3:Eu(super 3+) were obtained via a simple hydrothermal method, in the absence of any surfactant or template. After controlled postcalcination, the microstructure of the assembly experienced great changes and the correspondent luminescent properties also showed interesting evolution, but the assembled particle size stayed the same.

Hydrothermal method could be used in a controllable way with additives to obtain pure monoclinic and tetragonal phased LaVO4 nanocrystals. Investigation over the phase transmission from t-to-m-LaVO4 was also conducted with high-temperature X-ray diffraction (HT-XRD) studies.

The vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) spectra of the nanosized YBO3:Eu crystals, prepared by a more facile sol-gel pyrolysis process at a relatively low annealing temperature is investigated for their luminescent spectra in the VUV region. The results show the size dependence of optical properties.
