Abstract

Research of the management and outcomes of ovarian cancer diagnoses in Victoria, Australia reveals that while early treatment of the disease is crucial to survival, the methods for staging the degree of cancer and then determining the course of treatment are failing for over half of the women studied. The research concludes that CA-125 assays, chest x-rays and ultrasound provide the most accurate means for typing the tumor correctly and clearing the way for more effective courses of treatment.
