Abstract

The effect of antibiotic prophylaxis with nitrofurantoin monohydrate macrocrystals on the development of urinary tract infections after surgery for pelvic organ prolapse and/or stress urinary incontinence with suprapubic catheterization (SPC) is examined. The daily use of 100 mg of nitrofurantoin monohydrate macrocrystals significantly decreases urinary tract infection.

Abstract

Ball urethroplasty combined with Marshall-Marchetti-Krantz urethropexy appears to produce a similar outcome as suburethral sling in patients with urinary stress incontinence. This was the conclusion of a study of 67 patients who had one procedure or the other.
