Research has been conducted on the hepatitis C virus (HCV) viremia. The characterization of this infection has been carried out via testing HIV-positive persons and HIV-negative control subjects with diabetes for the HCV antibody presence and HCV RNA and the results demonstrate that hepatitis C virus infection occurs more often among HIV-infected persons.
