The fabrication and characterization of thermally cross-linked superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (TCL-SPION) and their application to the dual imaging of cancer in vivo are described. The studies have shown that TCL-SPION does not bear any targeting ligands on its surface, but is highly effective for tumor detection in vivo by dual imaging.

The novel ion channel system could be useful in applications such as drug discovery, detection of small molecules, ion separation, and construction of molecular devices.
