Abstract

Research has been conducted on the toluene gas-phase photoisomerization under collision-free conditions. Results indicate that this isomerization proceeds via the six-membered-ring to seven-membered-ring pathway with rearomatization.

Abstract

A systematic solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) study of MCM-41-type mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) prepared under low surfactant concentration is described. The study shows that the surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) was almost completely removed by acid extraction.

The soret absorption band is utilized as a probe for the adsorption of cytochrome c to the surface of a fused silica prism. Reorientation of the protein occurs when the cyt c unfolds and the hydrophobic force becomes dominant in the adsorption process.

The G2-PAMAM capped MSM material is used to complex with a plasmid DNA that codes for an enhanced green fluorescence protein.

Abstract

The exposure of monolayers of C60 to an intense beam of alkali ions, such as lithium (Li), produces an endohedral alkali-metal fullerene film. The ion beam energy, about 6 eV for Li+ and 40 eV for K+, is such that the ions penetrate the carbon structure without damaging it. The film is many nanometers thick and a significant portion of the C60 molecules contain an ion. An infrared absorption spectrum reveals the properties of a series of Li@C60 films.
