This study evaluated the use of electronic health record data to identify pediatric patients with undiagnosed or undertreated asthma in a rural community in West Virginia. Eighteen percent of children with an asthma diagnosis did not have albuterol in their medication list, and 7% of children without an asthma diagnosis had albuterol in their medication list.
