Abstract

An experimental and ab initio study on the excitation spectrum of the protonated benzene dimer and the neutral iso-electronic benzene dimer is reported. The absorption spectrum of protonated benzene dimer which extended in the visible spectral region indicated that the first excited state is charge transfer state.
