The first two low-dimensional beryllium phosphates compounds, [C5H14N2]2[Be3(HPO4)5].H2O (BePO-CJ29) and [C6H18N2]0.5[Be2(PO4)(HPO4)OH]-0.5H2O (BePO-CJ30), are successfully synthesized under mild hydrothermal/solvothermal conditions. The solvent has an important effect on the morphology of the crystals of BePO-29, and the additive TEOS favors the formation of high-quality large single crystals of BePO-CJ30.

The non-cooperative behavior in a two-echelon decentralized supply chain, composed of one supplier and n retailers, is analyzed. In order to guarantee optimal cooperation in the supply chain management, several Nash equilibrium contracts are designed in echelon inventory games and local inventory games.

Magnetization structures of the two-dimensional 180 degrees domain walls in Permalloy thin films are studied by numerical micromagnetic simulation. It is found that in the film with a thickness between 300 - 500 angstrom, both the LaBonte and the Neel wall structures are energetically stable. Transitions between the two stable wall structures are studied by applying a square pulse field in the film plane and perpendicular to the wall. It is found that the transition from the LaBonte wall structure to the Neel wall structure essentially depends on the area of the field pulse. The results also show that a significant domain wall displacement is associated with the transition from the LaBonte wall structure to the Neel wall structure. It is argued that the transitions between the wall structures could change the local pinning environment and cause unexpected wall motion.

Partitionally assembled organosulfur monolayers are prepared by using an electrochemically assisted assembly method on gold films that are preseparated into two regions insulated from each other. The partitionally assembled sulfur-based monolayers with different terminal groups are used to form location-selective nanoparticle assemblies.

The near-infrared (NIR) luminescent lanthanide ions, such as Er(III), Nd(III), and Yb(III) were used in the optical communications or laser systems. Upon excitation of the ligands absorption bands, all these materials show the characteristic NIR luminescence of the corresponding lanthanide ions through the intramolecular energy transfer from the ligands to the lanthanide ions.

Natrin purified from Naja atra venom, a member of the cysteine-rich secretory proteins (CRISP) family, can induce a contractile response in the endothelium-denuded thoracic aorta of mouse which are contracted by a high-K(super +) solution. The experiments show that it could block the high-conductance calcium-activated potassium (BK(sub Ca)) channel that suggest that only a single natrin molecule is required to bind an ion channel to block BK(sub a) current.

The wavelength-resolved measurement and characterization of the direct S2- ->S0 two-photon fluorescence (TPF) of crystal violet (CV) in methanol solution is presented. The measurement of hyperpolarizability of CV at 400 nm with the correction of S2- ->S0 fluorescence is discussed.
