Studies of dietary intake in The Netherlands during 1987 to 1988 and 1992 revealed a continuing gap in nutritional value and unhealthful eating habits. In a sampling of 5,898 individuals between 1 and 85 years of age, dietary intake of fiber and carbohydrate energy were low, while intake of protein was high, particularly among older subjects.
