Abstract

The matrix chain product problem is analyzed on distribution memory systems (DMS) with p processors. The results show that the computation of matrix chain product and matrix powers is scalable on distributed memory parallel computers (DMPCs).

Two methods are proposed which employ pipelined communications to distribute divisible loads on linear arrays. The two new algorithms, which use pipelined communications to distribute divisible loads on k-dimensional meshes, are analyzed.
