The newly established Research Centre for Skills Knowledge and Organisational Performance (Skope) in the UK seeks to examine the relationships among skill acquisition and use, product market strategies, and economic performance. Its primary goal is to bridge the gap between research on the development and supply of skills and the issues related to the demand and use of knowledge and skills in organizations. Skope focuses on four research themes: the selection of various competitive advantage models and the importance of skills and knowledge in each model, the processes that facilitate the implementation of product market strategies and the use and management of skills and knowledge, the supply and demand relationships between knowledge and skills, and the comparative usefulness of various policy and institutional measures used by organizations to promote a 'high-skills vision.'
