Abstract

The time delays and the energy transport velocities in the three dimensional (3D) invisibility cloaks are analyzed. A ray pointing right into the center of the cloak has experienced abrupt changes in velocities when it has impinged on the inner surface of the cloak and this peculiar distribution has caused long time delays for beams passing through the ideal cloak within a geometric optics description.
