The effect of material properties of two coupled nanocavities on ballistic phonon transport in a semiconductor nanowire at low temperatures is examined. The studies have shown that the thermal conductance is enhanced by using different material parameters of cavities from those of the main nanowire and the results have provided new directions that are used for forming gaps and resonance phonons, for controlling thermal conductance at different temperatures ranges of nanophononics.

The ballistic phonon transport in a [PSI]-shaped semiconductor nanowire is studied at low temperature. The thermal conductance of different channels could be controlled by altering their transverse widths and the geometric parameters of the nanocavity and the structure might find use as automatic separator of ballistic phonon modes at low temperatures.
