Abstract

A study determines whether paclitaxel-eluting stents are superior to uncoated stents in the setting of primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in terms of the rate of serious adverse cardiac events at 1 year. Results indicate that although the use of paclitaxel-eluting stents reduces the incidence of serious adverse cardiac events at 1 year as compared with uncoated stents, the difference is not statistically significant.
