The synthesis of the supermolecular complexes [Cu(trans-oxpn)(phth)]n.2nH2O and [Cu2(trans-oxpn)(mu-OH)(mu-H2O)]nBrn.2nH2O are described. The first complex was formed via H bonds joining the two-dimensional coordination sheets and the second compound was constructed via H bonds cross-linking the zigzag coordination chains. It was observed that the interaction of the hydrogen bonding in the complexes were an essential element in the formation of higher dimensional metal coordination polymers.

A new two-dimensional sheetlike polymer (Cu6(trans-oxen)3(mu-3-OH)2(H2O)2)n(super 4n+) with rugged hexagonal grids is described where the mu-3-OH- group is equatorially bound to the binuclear unit Cu(trans-oxen)Cu in a unique bridging mode. A quantitative calculation of the 2D coupling system with alternating bridges was carried out. Results indicate that the Mu-3-OH- bridge exerts an antiferromagnetic influence which is in accord with the result calculated from the bridging angle.

The reaction of CoCl2, RuCl3, Na2(mp) and PBu(super n)(sub 3) (H2mp=2-mercaptophenol, PBu(super n)(sub 3)=tri-n-butylphosphine) in ethanol in the molar ratio of 0.75:0.25:1:1 produced the complex Co6Ru2(mp)10(PBu(super n)(sub 3))6. The metal skeleton showed a quasi-linear array with three doubly mu2-O, four doubly mu2-S and two singly mu2-S bridges in highly asymmetric bonding modes. The magnetic parameters indicated weak magnetic exchange interactions in the complex due to the inefficiency of the bridges in facilitating magnetic couplings.

Methodology of synthesis of tris(trimethylsilyl)tetrahedranyllithium by the reaction of tetrakis(trimethylsilyl)tetrahedrane with MeLi is presented. In the H NMR spectrum the signal of the proton attached to the tetrahedrane skeleton appeared at 2.85 ppm due to the high s-character of the ring C-H bond.

The capability of W(Mo)-S-Cu units for acting as tritopic corners in a supramolecular cube is investigated. The assembly of a novel large supramolecular cube has been accomplished through a combination of serendipity and the employment of geometric principles.

Research was conducted to examine the lanthanide complexes with tripodal ligands incorporating the benzimidazole (BIm) ring. The study focused specifically on the substituted tris-(N-alkylbenzimidazol-2-ylmethyl)amines Rntb (R = (super n)propyl ((super n)Pr), methyl (Me)). Results indicate that each pair of closely adjacent rings from different ligands has a certain amount of intramolecular stacking interaction. Findings also imply that such stacking is more defined in (Eu(Mentb)2)-(ClO4)3*CH3CN*0.5H2O, with average distance between the three pairs of stacked BIm rings being 3.35 angstrom.
